Happy Monday, Razzball faithful
It’s shaping up to be a lovely June afternoon, so let’s get right to it.
Jacob Misiorowski’s Saturday start against the Rockies, IN COLORADO, went a little something like this: 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 8 Ks.
What are we even doing here?
I could write 8000 words on this guy alone. Things like “most 100 MPH pitches by a starter thrown in a game since StatCast started tracking in 2008.”
If that one isn’t Impressive enough, but about setting THE RECORD for velocity from a starting pitcher with a 103.7 MPH heat-seeking arm-missile in Denver.
I don’t know exactly what that humidor is doing to baseballs in Colorado, but it sure ain’t slowing them down out of this 6’7” sophomore’s right hand, that’s for sure.
Let’s peek at a few visuals, shall we?
I punched in some searches in ye olde Google and ended up with a couple of snips for you today.
We had a practice with the 11U team this weekend, and I asked a couple of our pitchers who they thought had thrown the most pitches over 100 MPH in MLB this year.
I got one Paul Skenes, a Tarik Skubal, and one kid said Shohei. Pretty close!
With or without the AI snip there, it’s some ridiculous numbers to peep in on. Yes, you read that right. More than 300 PITCHES at 100+ MPH compared to the next highest total.
If that’s not enough, I found a few more tidbits.
100th percentile in extension – That means the 100-104 MPH fastball is even tougher to pick up coming out of the big right’s hand over the top.
95th percentile in hard hit % – Oh. You want to make contact? You’d better bring some duct tape to patch up the stick after it explodes in your hands and sends a dribbler back to the mound.
99th percentile in fasctball velo and whiff % – Well, duh.
I mean. He doesn’t have Livvy Dunne, so at least Paul Skenes can check that one off his list. But it’s tough to argue against The Miz in many other parts of the baseball world.
Let’s see if The Miz pushes The Allegheny Ace off of his perch atop the Top 100 Starting Pitchers mountain.
But first, let’s also not forget about the Razzball tools. The Razzball subscriptions are well worth the price of admission. This should be your go-to reference for the entire season. That resource that the other “experts” from other sites use as often as they look at Statcast or Fangraphs data? This is it.
The Top 100 Starting Pitchers for 2026
*May be missing a few afternoon games from yesterday. I was showing the kid how to drive the lawn mower.*
| MARMO RANK | Name | Team | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jacob Misiorowski | MLW | Oh, the sacrilege. Listen, (with your eyeballs), Paul Skenes is an unbelievable pitcher, but what The Miz has done, consistently, for months now…well, it’s tough to argue he’s the best in the Biz right now. More above. |
| 2 | Paul Skenes | PIT | 4 2/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 3.09. I was at my own ball game last week when I overheard someone say to my youngest, “You know who the best pitcher in the National League is?” And I almost tripped over myself to scream, “Cristopher Sanchez or Jacob Misiorowski! Which one are you talking about?!” The Pirate Captain loses his spot today. |
| 3 | Cristopher Sanchez | PHI | 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, BB, 8 Ks. It’s been said a bunch of times this week, but Sanchez’s scoreless streak ended at 50.2 innings. That’s the ALL-TIME record for left-handed starting pitchers, and the most since Orel Herschiser’s 59 innings in 1988. It was tough to keep him under Skenes today, too. |
| 4 | Shohei Ohtani | LAD | 6 IP, 0 ER, 2 hits, 1 walk, 6 Ks, ERA at 0.74. And he hit in this game too. So courageous. |
| 5 | Yoshinobu Yamamoto | LAD | 8 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 0 BB, 4 Ks, and his 6th win. ERA at 2.68. WHIP at 0.92. All of these hotshot kid arms in the NL are getting the spotlight, and grandpa Yoshi is just cruising along, giving us excellent starts like this one. And, yes, the grandpa part was a joke (He’s 27). |
| 6 | Chris Sale | ATL | 5 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 12 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 2.23. 10 hits, 2 walks, and still a Drew Rasmussen special? (5.2 innings and 3 or fewer ER). I guess we’ll take it. |
| 7 | Chase Burns | CIN | 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 2.05. Good Burns. Now it’s not just what happens the morning after late-night Taco Bell. Not even a Baja Blast can cool this kid off. |
| 8 | Jacob deGrom | TEX | Game 1: 5 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 3.48. And his 100th win. OF HIS CAREER, not the season! Come on, now. Let’s lower our expectations just a bit. Game 2: 6 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 6 Ks. Sometimes it’s nice to see an ace challenge a younger pitcher in a duel. Well, Joey Cantillo faced DeGrom yesterday and gave up 7 ER in 5 innings. Sometimes it’s nice to see an ace show a younger pitcher what it’s like to be a starting pitcher stud. There. I fixed it. |
| 9 | Cam Schlittler | NYY | Game 1: 4 1/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 2.00. Just to make Will Warren and Ryan Weathers feel better about bullpen whispers. Game 2: 5.2 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, BB, 5 Ks, and a bit of Schlit luck with a no-decision at home (vs BOS). Down a bit today. |
| 10 | Bryan Woo | SEA | 6.1 IP, 9 hits, 5 ER, 7 K. Cursed by the boss, but still loved by MarmosDad. And y’all know by now that the last one to abandon ship on the SS Woo-boat won’t be the captain. But I’ll make sure to high-five him on his way out. (And, like I said in Grey’s BUY on Friday, if you can get a ‘draft day return’ as far as value is concerned with Woo, you have to at least listen to trade offers). |
| 11 | Zack Wheeler | PHI | 7 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 2.31. He feels a bit like the old guy sitting on the front porch and watching the young kids blow by him on their bikes. But no matter how solid Moz and Cris Sanchez are, Wheels is “only” 36 years old, and he can still pump those pedals. Enjoy the ride. |
| 12 | Logan Gilbert | SEA | 5.1 IP, 3 ER, 4 H, BB, 8 Ks, and his second straight win. Outside of a couple of May hiccups, he’s been solid. |
| 13 | Joe Ryan | MIN | Game 1: 6 IP, 4 ER, 8 hits, zero walks, 9 Ks, ERA at 3.20. “Just one ER away from a QS? And no walks? And a bunch of strikeouts? Ehhhhh? Ya see it?” That’s me trying to find the good here. It wasn’t terrible. Game 2: 6 IP, 1 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 2 Ks, and the no-decision. ERA at 3.07. WHIP at 1.00. Much better in the second one. I had a Sean Casey photo to clip here, but basically the quote was just “This guy is a difference maker. This is a guy that could actually get you to the World Series”. Just close your eyes and picture The Mayor saying that one and we’re good. |
| 14 | Drew Rasmussen | TB | 7.0 IP, 1 hit, 0 ER, 9 K, 5th win. All these jokes about the “Drew Rasmussen Quality Start”’(5.2 IP and 3 or fewer earned runs), and he goes out and does this. Here’s hoping he keeps posting 7+ inning gems and stays healthy because if he does, he’s a surefire Top 10 starter. Up. |
| 15 | Nolan McLean | NYM | Jumper. More below. |
| 16 | Gavin Williams | CLE | 5 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 5 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.10. The Drew Rasmussen special. And, poetically, he gets passed today by Drew Rasmussen’s 7-inning quality start from last week. |
| 17 | Gerrit Cole | NYY | 5 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 7 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 2.00. Oh. Well, we can’t expect candy in our Christmas stockings every week, can we? |
| 18 | Kyle Harrison | MLW | 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 12 Ks, ERA at 1.57. I had the option to hold this guy in a keeper league, but cut him loose before we had to lock in our pre-draft rosters. Good thing I kept Braxton Ashcraft. But this is a good example of the little girl, “Why not both?” GIF. UP. |
| 19 | Carlos Rodon | NYY | 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners (3 BBs), 7 Ks, ERA at 2.88. As much as I dislike the Yankees, it’s hard to argue when a fan says they have the best rotation in baseball. Schlittler, Cole, Rodon, Warren, Weathers, and Marcus Stroman make up a pretty sick six. (Yeah, I was just testing to see if you were paying attention). Seriously, though. If Max Fried can get the all-clear to start throwing again anytime soon and returns before the All-Star break, it’s going to be even scarier. UP. |
| 20 | Braxton Ashcraft | PIT | 5 IP, 6 ER, 9 H, 0 BB, 5 Ks, and his 3rd loss. This one was at ATL, though, so I’m cutting him some slack |
| 21 | Kevin Gausman | TOR | 5 IP, 4 ER, 5 H, 0 BB, 5 Ks, and the loss. Two homers did most of the damage in this one (to Taylor Ward and Colton Cowser), but I’m not cutting the Goose loose anytime soon. Down a bit. |
| 22 | George Kirby | SEA | 4 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 4.04. It’s Jeopardy time! ANSWER: Corners in a rectangle. Yes. Eyes on a bespectacled human. Yes. IP, ER, Ks, or ERA. No. QUESTION: WHAT IS ‘WHERE IS IT OK TO SEE FOURS’?” |
| 23 | Dylan Cease | TOR | He’s still on the shelf. And he’s growing the beard and stache back faster than he’s growing back his new hamstring, but the Buffalo rehab start was solid (4 IP, 6 Ks, 1 BB – 75 pitches), and he’s expected back this week. He could start tomorrow when he’s eligible for activation. |
| 24 | Sonny Gray | BOS | 6.1 IP, 8 hits, 3 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 7th win, ERA at 3.20 ERA. Mr. Underrated is just piling up the quality starts. |
| 25 | Shane McClanahan | TB | 5 IP, 4 ER, 8 H, 2 BB, 6 Ks. The ratios are still really good, but the 8.67 K/9 is the worst of his career. |
| 26 | Framber Valdez | DET | 5.0 IP, 5 hits, ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 3rd win. Ok. Just one more good start and you can shop him like he’s going out of style. |
| 27 | Freddy Peralta | NYM | 6 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.38. The Mets are doing their best to ruin him, but he’s still shoving back. |
| 28 | Nathan Eovaldi | TEX | 6 IP, 4 ER, 12 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 4.10. More like Eo-fall-D! Like falling down! Because it was bad! High fi— Ya, no, you’re right. Not good. |
| 29 | Emerson Hancock | SEA | 6 IP, 2 ER, 2 hits, zero walks, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.80. Be careful. Rumors are that Luis Castillo is almost finished making his Hancock voodoo doll. He just needs a lock of Will Smith’s hair. |
| 30 | Trey Yesavage | TOR | 5.2 IP, 5 hits, 6 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 3rd L. He got stopped by the Orioles last week and gets the Phillies this week. I hate that I’m considering sitting him. Down this week. |
| 31 | Jesus Luzardo | PHI | 6.0 IP, 7 hits, 5 ER, 2 BB, 2 K. The lizard king. Mister MoJoRisin would be proud. But don’t have too much faith, because he can switch it up on a dime and “Light My Fire” (to your ratios) instead. |
| 32 | Logan Webb | SF | 7 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 1 walk, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.25. No earned runs, 7 solid innings, just one hit, and not enough strikeouts? Yep! Logan Webb is BACK! |
| 33 | Payton Tolle | BOS | Jumper. More below. Up. |
| 34 | Will Warren | NYY | 6 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 3 BB, 5 Ks, and his 7th win. Not too shabby for a 6th starter! |
| 35 | Ryan Weathers | NYY | 6.0 IP, 7 hits, 5 ER, BB, 4 K, 4th L. Max Fried is gonna come back and Weathers is gonna get banished to a setup role, isn’t he? |
| 36 | Emmet Sheehan | LAD | 6 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 3 Ks, ERA at 4.50. Every time I see one of these kids go 6.1 innings, it’s like a tiny victory for the quality start crew. DO YOU HEAR THAT, TAMPA?! |
| 37 | Max Meyer | MIA | 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.81. What a weird way to spell “NL Allstar, Eury Perez”. Give it up for the Marlins’ best arm, Max Meyer. Up |
| 38 | Jared Jones | PIT | 5 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.82. Of course, I added him. Everywhere I could. And because so many folks in my leagues aren’t as alert (aka, obsessed, mental, filled with false hope), I managed to land him in…oh, just 3 leagues. Nevermind. Carry on. UP! |
| 39 | Parker Messick | CLE | 5.2 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, BB, 4 Ks, and his first loss in 7 starts. For what it’s worth, he also hasn’t finished 6 innings in any of his most recent 4 GS. |
| 40 | Jose Soriano | LAA | 4 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 3 hits, 7 walks, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.72. One of my friends from home was out west for this one (and sent me a Jo Adell picture, too!). He said it was a crazy game, which I figured out the moment I saw Jake McCarthy homer off of Soriano in the 3rd inning. |
| 41 | Michael King | SD | 6.0 IP, 6 hits, 4 ER, 4 K, 5th L. There’s that new chess move: King to E-gads. Smh. Down. |
| 42 | Shota Imanaga | CHC | 6 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 4.74. It’s tough to preach patience here when all you want to do with him is “Shota way out the door”. With a firm boot to the backside on his way out, too. Jeez. DOWN. |
| 43 | Kyle Bradish | BAL | 4 IP, 5 ER, 9 H, 3 BB, 3 Ks. Ok, so to revisit last week’s notes…maybe the ‘buy-low’ window didn’t necessarily slam shut just yet. |
| 44 | Spencer Strider | ATL | 5 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 3 Ks, and his 4th win. I still do a double-take every time I see Strider throwing anything under 6 innings. That said, this was his 3rd win in his last 4 GS. |
| 45 | Ranger Suarez | BOS | 6.1 IP, 1 ER, 6 H, BB, 6 Ks, and the no-decision. Way to roll into Yankee Stadium on a sunny Sunday in early June and match the second-best arm in the AL (Cam Schlittler) pitch for pitch. |
| 46 | Michael Soroka | ARI | Jumper. More below. Up. |
| 47 | Bryce Miller | SEA | 6 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 2 BB, 9 Ks. ERA at 1.33. WHIP at 0.74. I know we gave Grey some smoke on Friday for saying we should sell Bryan Woo, but this guy looks even better than Woo has this year. Buying Bryce right now is looking like a solid move.Up. |
| 48 | Connor Prielipp | MIN | Jumper (just a bit). More below. |
| 49 | Robbie Ray | SF | 5.0 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 5 BB, 4 K, 4th win. I mean, it looks pretty good. But as Dan Pants pointed out in his Saturday roundup, Ray just can’t throw strikes consistently. He tossed just 9 strikes on 45 pitches. And that got him 6 outs (first two innings). Ugh. |
| 50 | Connelly Early | BOS | 5.1 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, BB, 6 Ks. This whole pocket got roughed up last week. Early is at TB this week. |
| 51 | Spencer Arrighetti | HOU | 4 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 1.94. More like AAARRRGGGHHH. Ouch. Down a bit. |
| 52 | Nick Lodolo | CIN | 5 IP, 4 ER, 9 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks, and the no-decision. The ratios are not great, and this was his 6th start (so he should be figuring it out by now). I’m not abandoning ship yet by any means, but he’s down today. |
| 53 | Landen Roupp | SF | Game 1: 4 IP, 8 ER, ERA at 4.22. The Roupp Dogg settles in at 4.22. This is the time that he tried to sync up with his brother, Snoop…also. Game 2: 5.2 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 5 Ks. ERA at 4.01. WHIP at 1.29. He notched 5 innings of scoreless ball in this one, then gave up a solo bomb to PCA to lead off the 6th. |
| 54 | Troy Melton | DET | 8 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 1.74. Yessir (and the few yessmaams). Troy is just out here taking names and Melton bats. Up a bit today. |
| 55 | Reid Detmers | ANA | 6.0 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 Ks. He’s going to drive you nuts, but I’m here for it just because of the potential for starts like the one he had vs TEX on May 24th (8 IP, one solo HR, 14 Ks). |
| 56 | Nick Martinez | TB | 4 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 2.29. Are all of these marshmallow tossers going to get rocked this week? And, for the record, I mean “tossers” in the American way, not the British way. (Apologies for any mental picture that might have been created with an X-rated Nick Martinez cameo for yet another upcoming Ghostbusters remake). Also, down today. |
| 57 | Tanner Bibee | CLE | Jumper?! More below! |
| 58 | Davis Martin | CWS | Dumper. More below. |
| 59 | Ben Brown | CHC | 5.1 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, BB, 5 Ks, and the no-decision?! Insert “Uh…Okay” gif here. Up. |
| 60 | Justin Wrobleski | LAD | 6 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.62. You think Victor is upset that he’s no longer the top guy who pops up when you type “robles” into the search bar? Probles-ly. UP |
| 61 | Taj Bradley | MIN | 4 2/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.58. There are some starters I will never be able to stay away from (looking at you, Jared Jones), and others I will likely never roster. Can you guess which group Taj Bradley belongs to? |
| 62 | Christian Scott | NYM | 5.2 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 3 Ks. ERA at 2.50. WHIP at 1.30. I know. It would be a lot easier to justify this if he had just ripped off three straight 6+ inning outings, but he’s building up and I believe in him. |
| 63 | Bryce Elder | ATL | Game 1: 6 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 7 hits, one walk, 6 Ks, ERA at 2.63 vs TOR. The Blue Jays had better not be becoming that team where you now auto-start guys you normally wouldn’t have dared to run out there last year. Game 2: 6 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 4 Ks. His second quality start in a row since the meltdown at Fenway. Up today. |
| 64 | Roki Sasaki | LAD | 7.0 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 2 BB, 10 K. Roki! Yes, it may sound like what a Cuban drug cartel does in the water on their way to Miami, but I’d be rowing keys all day if I could get this kind of result in every Roki start. It’s making me crazy that I have him in the 60s, but it’s time to ride the wave. Up. |
| 65 | Noah Cameron | KC | Big Jumper. More below. |
| 66 | Bubba Chandler | PIT | Game 1: 5 IP, 3 ER, 7 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 4.89. And, now, for another exciting episode of: GUESS…HIS…WALK TOTAL! (There were only two). Game 2: 5.1 IP, 2 ER, 1 H, 2 BB, 7 Ks. Apparently, Sunday was “give the kid an opener” day, and Bubba was no exception. Four baserunners in 5 1/3 innings is a win for this guy, though. The 7 Ks is gravy. |
| 67 | Peter Lambert | HOU | 5.1 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 4 BB, 4 Ks, and his 3rd consecutive win |
| 68 | Ryne Nelson | ARI | 7 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 4.60. He’s the poster child for, “but his underlying numbers are solid!” Well, the overlying numbers are not exciting. And those are the ones we need if we’re rostering him in Roto or Points leagues instead of metrics leagues. Still, MarmosDad is the Dad of the people, so we’ll move him up today a bit. |
| 69 | Andrew Abbott | CIN | 6 IP, 3 ER, 9 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.06. May wasn’t as good as Cristopher Sanchez or Jacob Misiorowski, but he wasn’t that far behind (301, 28 IP, 5 ER, 1.61 ERA). BUT, the 5.79 K.9 in May makes it a lot clearer why he’s not ranked higher today. |
| 70 | Zebby Matthews | MIN | 7.0 IP, 5 hits, 2 ER, 4 BB, 2 K, 2nd win. THIS! This is what everyone wants to see! (Well, everyone except for Simeon Woods-Richardson). Up. |
| 71 | Sandy Alcantara | MIA | Jumper. More below. |
| 72 | Merrill Kelly | ARI | 5.0 IP, 6 hits, 7 ER, 3 BB, 4 K. I almost called him MGK – Merrill garbage Kelly – but I didn’t want to use the reference because the only thing I know about Machine Gun Kelly is who he married. |
| 73 | Mackenzie Gore | TEX | 4 2/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 4.23. More like MacKenzie Snore. Boom. Roasted. And down today. |
| 74 | Mitch Keller | PIT | 4.2 IP, 7 hits, 6 ER, 3 BB, 4 K. If we mixed around those numbers, it would be a lot better. 7 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 4 BB, 4.2 Ks? Ya, maybe not. So much for Mister Kwality start. |
| 75 | Shane Baz | BAL | Dumper? Kind of? More below. |
| 76 | Foster Griffin | WSH | 5.0 IP, 2 hits, ER 4 K, 7th win, ERA at 3.63 ERA. Guess who pulled in some goodies in RazzSlam 7’s second and final FAAB run! Yeet! (Check Connor Prielipp in the Jumpers for more). |
| 77 | Randy Vasquez | SD | 5 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 3.31. When the buzz first started around this dude I couldn’t understand why people were excited about a 35 year old middle reliever. Then I realized he was only 27. Huh. I guess there’s more than one Vasquez in MLB. |
| 78 | Michael Wacha | KC | 5.2 IP, 8 hits, 4 ER, 2 K. If you’re running him out there every week, you don’t need me to tell you that you Wacha fine line between solid and swampy. |
| 79 | Gage Jump | OAK | Jumper. More below. |
| 80 | Walbert Urena | LAA | Jumper. More below. I swear! |
| 81 | Dustin May | STL | 5 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 7 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 4.59. “I said May bae, I don’t really want to know, how your arm doth throw, ‘cause I just wanna fly…” with the regression fairies to your next start (at NYM). Up a bit. |
| 82 | Cade Cavalli | WSH | Game 1: 5 IP, 2 ER, 8 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.62. Last week, someone said they thought I was too low on Cavalli. Ok. Where should he be, then? I’m serious, and there’s no venom or irritation there at all. I just seriously don’t know where the best spot is for some of these guys. Too high if he gets rocked in his second start and too low if he throws a QS gem. Ah…starting pitchers. So much fun to predict the unpredictable. Game 2: 4.2 IP, 4 ER, 7 H, BB, 2 Ks. I almost felt guilty for catching flak on last week’s SP88 ranking. Then, after he put up a couple of these, I didn’t feel like I was all that far off. |
| 83 | Seth Lugo | KC | 5 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.91. He was a top 10 pitcher on the player rater years ago. What? We’re not using stats from two years ago? Well, thanks for telling me this after I added Bailey Ober and Lucas Giolito. Way down today. |
| 84 | Trevor McDonald | SF | 5 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.50. Ba-da-bum-ba-da…I’m not lovin’ it, but it’ll play. |
| 85 | Griffin Canning | SD | 5 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 6 Ks. That’s four straight starts with three or fewer earned runs allowed. Yep. It’s time to give him a spot. Next steps include: trying to throw 90 pitches and finish off 6 complete innings. (Sorry, it’s report card season so it’s tough to shake that writing tone). |
| 86 | Michael McGreevy | STL | Jumper. More below. |
| 87 | Grant Holmes | ATL | 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.86. Yeah, boy. It’s the Flav, Holmes, cold chillin’ in effect. (Or something to that effect). |
| 88 | Sean Burke | CWS | 4.1 IP, 3 ER, 7 Ks as he followed 1.1 innings from an opener. I don’t know which was more surprising, seeing this, or seeing that the White Sox’s 34-30 W/L total was the same as the Phillies’ record. |
| 89 | Trevor Rogers | BAL | 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 6.29. I was going to say this week that I think I figured it all out. Shane Baz had to sacrifice Trevor Rogers to the pitching gods just so he didn’t get sent to the Mexican minor leagues. But Rogers didn’t get killed again last week, so we’re ok. For now. |
| 90 | Stephen Kolek | KC | 7 IP, 2 ER, 8 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 3.32. I added him in the AL Only and promptly sat him because it was at Cincy. Bock bock bock! (That’s my chicken brain being scared of Great American Ballpark). |
| 91 | Edward Cabrera | CHC | Dumper. More below. Way down today. |
| 92 | Eduardo Rodriguez | ARI | Game 1: 6 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 2.24. I don’t know why he’s always in the “whoa, I don’t know about this one” group for me, but he is. And he shouldn’t be. He’s the most consistent arm the D-Backs have (outside of maybe Merrill Kelly). Game 2: 6.1 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, BB, 5 Ks, and his second loss. I still don’t think I’d trust him much past a streaming spot, but the ERA and WHIP aren’t hurting us much…yet. |
| 93 | Patrick Corbin | TOR | Yes. It’s that Patrick Corbin. (And he looked a lot like that Patrick Corbin last week, too). |
| 94 | Brandon Sproat | MLW | 5 IP, 3 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 2 Ks. I dropped him in a home mixed league about a month ago. Then a friend added him the next week. Well, guess who cut the Sproats this past weekend and ended up with a “hee hee” text from the MD? (That is before I add him this week because I’ll never learn). |
| 95 | Griffin Jax | TB | Dumper. Kind of. More below. |
| 96 | Lucas Giolito | SD | 4 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 4.86. Injuries backed me into a corner in TGFBI to the point where I had this dude, Bailey Ober, and Anthony Kay all active. Good thing I dropped two of them and spent a bunch on Jonah Tong and River Ryan. Smh. |
| 97 | Jack Leiter | TEX | 4.2 IP, 5 ER, 6 H, 3 BB, 2 Ks. ERA at 4.69. WHIP at 1.37. He’s finished 6+ innings just twice in his last 6 starts. I’m almost ready to drop him in mixed leagues, but can’t find anything decent to replace him. |
| 98 | Anthony Kay | CWS | 4 IP, 6 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 4 Ks, and there’s the start that we were not-so-patiently waiting for. Sad emoji. |
| 99 | Joey Cantillo | CLE | Game 1: 4 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.92. He’s been a lot more Cant than he has Can. Game 2: 5 IP, 7 ER, 9 H, 2 BB, 7 Ks. Can’t he, though? Uh. No. He’s way down today and nearly slipped right off the list after this debacle. He’s hanging on by a thread. Down. |
| 100 | David Sandlin | CWS | Dumper? More below. |
JUMPERS (Players who jumped up the list this week).
Tarik Skubal – HE THREW A REHAB START YESTERDAY! Ok, Tigers fans, go grab your puffers and take some deep breaths. I’ll wait right here. And while we’re here – 5 clean innings at High-A West Michigan with 2 hits, 6 strikeouts and 44 of 55 pitches for strikes is enough to get the blood pumping. He’s not back in the list yet, but it’s looking like he will be back a lot sooner than expected.
Nolan McLean – 6 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 5 Ks, and a big old…
It’s not a Misiorowski massacre start, but it’s a welcome quality start from a guy who had a rough few games in the middle of May. Harley? Fire up the bandwagon again! We’re going back in!
Payton Tolle – It’s a love fest in the Jumpers section today! I had a few picked out and ready to go early on last week, and the hits just kept coming. I wrote up this note for our guy here: “6 IP, 0 ER, 9 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.28. There are certain pitchers who I think would make an excellent fit if they ever did a remake of Sons of Anarchy, but with David Wells in the lead role instead of Charlie Hunnam. This guy would play a great right-hand to a biker boss. Oh, and he’s a damn good pitcher too,” then he went out and topped that a billion times over with this clip.
Or maybe this one.
And not to get too sappy on y’all on a Monday afternoon, but if anyone is looking for words to live by, just ask Payton Tolle.
“If someone can have as much fun watching me as I’m having out there, I’ve done my job. I’m having so much fun.”
What a friggin’ beauty.
Noah Cameron – Game 1: 7 IP, 1 ER, 1 hit, zero walks, 8 Ks, ERA at 4.22. Um…sorry? *finger to earbud* All we had to do was tell him to pitch like Nolan McLean or Nolan Ryan, and this is what we get? Well, ok then. Game 2: 6 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 7 Ks. Sure, it was against the Twins, but it’s looking like Cameron has unlocked the next level. Buy. And up a bunch of spots today.
Sandy Alcantara – Game 1: 7 IP, 3 ER, 7 hits, zero walks, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.59. Alcantara? More like Al-not be falling for that one again anytime soon! Boom! Roasted! (But seriously, this was a good start). Game 2: 7 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 1 BB, 7 Ks. Ok, so maybe it’s time to start “falling for” this again. Honestly, so many starting pitchers get blown up each week, you could do worse than gambling on one with such a high K upside as Sandy’s. (And, yes, that was two wins last week).
Connor Prielipp – Game 1: 6 IP, 4 ER, 8 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 5.26. Make sure you mention this start and that ERA, if you’re chatting up another manager for a trade. Game 2: 4.1 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, BB, 7 Ks. Would we like to see 5 more outs? Sure would. But this is a growth stock worth rostering. And I’m not just saying it because I landed him in RazzSlam 7’s final FAAB run last week!
He was already at SP51 last week, so we’ll move him just inside the Top 50 this week to avoid getting too much backlash.
Michael Soroka – Game 1: 6 IP, 4 ER, 7 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.49. Game 2: 7 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 6 Ks. Not bad. But not as good as his brother, Michael So-Ryu-Ken!
Tanner Bibee – 8 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 3 Ks, AND HIS FIRST WIN IN FOURTEEN STARTS? He couldn’t be left off the Jumper list after that kind of emotional outburst! In the Austin Powers voice – “Yeah, Bibee, yeah!”
Gage Jump – Game 1: 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.75. In the words of the legendary American Poet, David of the Lee-Roth western clan, “Go ahead and Jump”. Game 2: 6.1 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 3 Ks. ERA at 2.46. WHIP at 1.09. I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t think we’d see the kid up this early, let alone hit the ground running. And jumping. He’s in, and the only question left to answer is, “How high up does he land?”
Walbert Urena – This one is more of an apology for writing him up as a Jumper last week, then forgetting to add him to the list. He’s there now! I promise! 6 IP, 3 ER, 6 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.68. That old Italian guy cursing the precipitation again, or Ernie’s roommate from Sesame Street started a drywall business? Choose one. To be honest, you can have both. But you did get a quality start with more than a half a dozen Ks, so something.
Michael McGreevy – Game 1: 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 1 K, ERA at 2.98. The best Michael Mc since Steely Dan. Game 2: 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 0 BB, 5 Ks. ERA at 2.99. WHIP at 1.08. Ok. It’s time to push someone out of McGreevy’s way and promote him to the list.
DUMPERS (Players who dropped down the list this week).
Davis Martin – 4 2/3 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 2.61. I should’ve known when I said it last week and taunted the regression fairies. That’s always the precursor for cursing a starting pitcher for the next start. “I don’t exactly know the point where we determine if the regression fairies will chop this guy down at the knees, but I get the feeling we’re well past it already.” And that’s me quoting…uh, me. Unfortunately. Ugh. Down a bit.
Shane Baz – Game 1: 7 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.29. I’ll admit that it wasn’t that long ago I was ready to have Baz tarred (and feathered), but he’s been good. Game 2: Check that “but he’s been good”. And let me tell you a story.
5.2 IP, 1 ER, (4 unearned), 7 H, BB, 3 Ks. I told frequent MarmoVisitor, Martin, that I’d start Baz at TOR against Gausman yesterday, even though it felt kind of dirty to say so. I thought my crystal ball was firing on all cylinders when I tuned in late, and it was 4-0 Baltimore. But, for what it’s worth, when I turned the game on after mowing the lawn, Yohendrick Pinago blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the 6th, and the Jays pushed 3 more across the board before chasing Baz. It was nice of the Blue Jays to wait for me before launching the comeback. And sorry about the L, Martin.
Edward Cabrera – 3.2 IP, 8 hits, 8 ER, BB, 6 K, 3 HR. Or, if you prefer pictures…
Give it up for tonight’s indie rock cover band, Ed Cab is Doodie! “Wait, is that just one guy blowing random notes out of a tuba and sounding like he has explosive diarrhea?”
Yes, it is! And even that would be more entertaining than paying real money to watch Edward Cabrera live.
Griffin Jax – Game 1: 4 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 4.76. This was the first note of the week on Tuesday morning, and…there are better ways to start your day, I’m sure of it. Game 2: 5 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 4 Ks, and a much-needed scoreless start after getting mauled by the Tigers in his first start of the week. I had him slated to drop a bunch, then remembered he was already at SP92, so he gets a bit of a reprieve after yesterday’s start.
David Sandlin – When you’re ranked as the SP100, there is literally nowhere for you to Dump down to, unless it’s off the list, so let’s call this a lateral dump. (Please, don’t visualize that). Game 1: 4 IP, 8 ER, ERA at 8.10. Wooooo, baby! What a way to reward your managers for tripping over each other to add you from the team waiver wire! Game 2: The White Sox thought having him follow Tyler Gilbert yesterday would be the recipe for success. 3.1 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 6 Ks? Ehhhh? Other than messing up the 3s pattern, I guess it was a serviceable start. I want to move him up, but we need to see more.
Zac Gallen – 10 IP, 9 ER, 4 HR allowed, 3 BB, 3 Ks. That’s the total from his most recent two starts. He’s allowed fewer than 3 ER in just one of his last 7 starts. Bye-bye.
STUMPERS (These names might stump you as to why they aren’t on the Top 100…yet. Some of these guys are close).
Jonah Tong – 3 1/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.60. Look at this pitcher, so scandalous. Many more starts like this can’t handle this. Let us see that Tong! (The one that was good last year). That Tong, Tong Tong, Tong Tong. One additional note in my edits: Optioned the next day.
Drew Anderson – Grey mentioned it on the pod with Mike Couillard, and I found myself nodding in agreement. I can’t understand why the Tigers are running Drew Anderson out of the bullpen and not the rotation.
Slade Cecconi – 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.92. I resisted adding this guy as a Stumper partly because he’s also what the kids say if they did well at something. Well, slayed or no slay, he’s in here to slay. I mean, today.
Martin Perez – 5.0 IP, 3 hits, 3 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 4th win. Not for all the tea in China. Or England. Possibly Spain. Or wherever there’s a lot of tea.
Brandon Pfaadt – optioned to minors. Well, at least he didn’t give up 8 ER in 5 IP like Brayan Bello did before he got sent down, too.
Mike Burrows – 5 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 5.66. It’s fitting. Because I want to dig a really deep hole in the ground with my hands, and jam any thoughts I have about adding him to my roster way down inside where I can never reach them again. Game 2: 5 IP, 4 ER, 8 H, 2 BB, 3 Ks, and why am I wasting time giving you his notes each week? And TWO games this week, to boot? I guess this was for those of you in those 25-team AL-Only leagues.
Jack Kochanowicz – 0.1 IP, 6 ER, 6 H, BB, 1 K, 1 HR allowed. Guess how many letters I have to type before the phone prompts me to hit his full last name. It’s 7. Oh, you wanted a positive note about his pitching performance? Um…he gave up fewer hits and earned runs than seven?
Yep. That’s as positive as it gets here.
Eric Lauer – 4 2/3 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 5.74. Grey said it briefly last Wednesday – “Bring up River Ryan!” Heck, bring up Ryan. Or Gavin Stone. Or Cole Irvin. (Ok, maybe not Cole Irvin, but you get the point).
Jeffrey Springs – 3 2/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 4.37. Oh well. Maybe he’ll be better in 3 weeks when he evolves into Jeffrey Summers.
Sean Manaea – 5 IP, 1 ER, 1 hit, 1 walk, 4 Ks, ERA at 5.08. Followed an opener. Uh. Okay.
Jack Flaherty – Game 1: 5 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 5.31. Nope. Not for all the T in China, or Tigers (or Detroit for that matter). (You know it’s bad when I use the tea joke twice in a roundup). Game 2: 5 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, BB, 7 Ks. If there is a Fantasy Baseball hell, do you think it’s just day after day of having to start (and watch) Aaron Nola and Jack Flaherty games and guess which one won’t get crushed? Because I could see it.
Walker Buehler – 6 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.53. “Buehler…Buehler…Buehler…” That’s Ben Stein trying to find this guy in the Top 100.
J.T. Ginn – 6 IP, 1 ER, 3 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 2.74. He’s exactly the kind of guy you see sitting on waivers, figuratively staring back at you with those big old puppy dog eyes, then you start Shota Imanaga instead anyway and your ratios get blasted again.
Matthew Liberatore – 4.1 IP, 3 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, 4 Ks. I copied the line and honestly couldn’t remember if we even had him down as a Stumper. So, I guess that’s something?
Aaron Nola – I forgot I removed him completely. But I added him today just so I could share this one: Game 1: 5 IP, 2 ER, 4 hits, zero walks, 8 Ks, ERA at 5.55. Ah, the movie phone number. It’s just too bad the movie is usually Scream. Or Scream 2. Or Scream 3. Or…well, you get the (motion) picture. Game 2: 4.1 IP, 5 ER, 6 H, 4 BB, 4 Ks. No. No in Philly. Certainly a no in TOR. And I would assume even a No (in) LA.
BUMPERS (Injured starters or minor league guys who could or would bump others off the list if they were active on the big league roster).
Robert Gasser – 5 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.73. Grey mentioned that Gasser might be one and done here, and I don’t disagree. Bouncing back and forth between the bigs and the minors sounds about right here. Hey, they can’t ALL be Kyle Harrison.
Grayson Rodriguez – 3 2/3 IP, 8 ER, ERA at 10.00. The only ‘ten’ that gets a “would not recommend”.
Corbin Burnes – “Setback to September”. Jeez. That sounds like a bad 2000s emo band.
Tatsuya Imai – 5 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 8 Ks. That’s win #3, and 15 Ks in his last 17 innings. He’s not ready to move back in yet, but he’s headed in the right direction.
Nick Pivetta
Garrett Crochet – A setback with the low-grade lat strain. From what? Sitting on the IL for a month?
Steven Matz –1 2/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 5.48. I thought this guy retired with Lance Lynn. Wait, maybe I forgot to add a “should have” in that last sentence.
Brayan Bello – 5 IP, 8 ER, 1 free bus ride back to Pawtucket. Lates.
WHEE! – These players vaulted onto the Top 100 list this week.
(and Walbert Urena is in there now!)
OOF! – These players fell off the Top 100 list this week.
Casey Mize – Rehabbing this week. Eligible to return June 13th.
Keider Montero – 5 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 1 K, and his 4th loss. I’m sorry, Tigers fans, but whoever sold their souls for last year’s insane end-of-the-year run is paying for it now.
That’s all for this week! I hope you enjoyed it! If you’re feeling extra fired up about some of the names I do (or don’t) have here, drop some comments in the chat. Have a great week!

Right now, this moment, Miz #1 no one will argue that. We can readjust if needed next week.
Preilipp owner in a keep forever with no contracts and he ain’t no 48. Hasn’t finish 5 in three of his past four. He’s on a pitch count/IP cap with two TJS’s .
McGreevy best kept secret in Fantasy. So he don’t K a half dozen a turn? Great ratios, keeps his team in the game, good bullpen to help him out. What bat would you offer? Keep forever league. Steer, Jung, Marsh, add Prelipp as a sweetener? Too much?
Feels like a lot.
Kyle Harrison at 18? MUST be HIGHER than that!
Ya and I moved him up from last week. I guess we could make a case that he should be above a few, but where are you putting him and who are you pushing down? 12 behind Wheels maybe?
I like him a lot, but Rasmussen needed a boost now that he’s logged a few real QS and I couldn’t put him above Cole, McLean, Gavin. It’d be nice if we could just rank them in interchangeable tiers, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a list.
Didn’t know anything about Gage Jump until a few days ago. Is he a potential 2027 keeper?
Absolutely he is. Even more so if he keeps this up and logs a decent amount of innings with no hiccups (control/health).
Another great column!
2.Would you drop Baz or Roupp for Holmes or Lambert? Seems like a no?
Hope the lawn training exercise went well.
Thanks Martin!
1. I like it.
2. Probably a hold there.
It was good. He was pumped. First time “driving” anything, so he was excited. I gave him a few runs across a flat rectangle. Haha.
What a great memory!
What are your thoughts on dropping Baz for Dustin May or hold?
Thanks as always!
