Yesterday, Jesus Luzardo went 7 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 12 Ks, ERA at 3.32. On the Player Rater, he’s a what? Top 25 starter? Top 20 starter? Top 15 starter? C’mon, guess! I need you to guess! Bzzt wrongo! He’s around a top 10 starter. You weren’t expecting a vague answer, were you? Luzardo seems to manage incredibly valuable fantasy years while also dropping the occasional 5 IP, 8 ER turdwhatfucken to keep everyone honest. Ya know what? Lies are cool with me, man. I don’t need to be kept honest. Now, onto not lies, but Kyles, as in Kyle Schwarber. He went 2-for-3, 4 RBIs with a double slam (34, 35) and legs (3). He took the better part of July off (3 HRs, .231, and was hitting .148 with zero homers in August until yesterday). I’d say that’s his worst month in many years. Saying “many years” because I’m too lazy to actually look at his game log for the last five years or so. Here, at Razzball, you get the stats parsed in a way that gives you a general gist to what’s going on. That’s different than my high school band, The General Gist, where we’d perform songs in the general vicinity of a stage. You might remember our hit, “This Is Sorta The Melody.” Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Aaron Nola – 5 IP, 2 ER, 8 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 5.47, and left after taking a comebacker off his leg on Saturday. Earlier in the game, he passed the 2,000 strikeout mark. He’s the first pitcher with 2,000 career strikeouts and 2,000 homers allowed.
Max Scherzer – 5 1.3 IP, 2 ER, 5 hits, zero walks, 4 Ks, ERA at 7.25. He officially passed Walter Johnson to become the tenth best strikeout pitcher in baseball history. Only 2,198 more to tie Nolan Ryan!
Shane Bieber – 5 2/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 5.48. Bieber better be singing, “Sorry.”
Jackson Jobe – 5 IP, 0 ER, 2 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA as he was activated. Here’s what I said the other day, “He was beset with elbow issues, and Tommy John surgery and had his family taken away from him and his possessions and God was testing Jobe. But he’s back now! He had a 1.76 ERA in five starts in the minors. Swoon! That was for a total of 15 1/3 IP. Opposite of swoon! He’s clearly not going to be able to throw many innings and him or a Streamonator pickup? Like a teamster smoking a cigarette, I’m leaning on the latter.” And that’s me quoting me! Of course, what we learned on Saturday is the Giants are as bad as any minor league team. Not trying to discount Jobe too much. He can be great, but how deep he can go into games is a concern. He threw 71 pitches on Saturday., i.e., he’s got 71 pitches and the Giants ain’t one.
Troy Melton – 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 1.58. Man, if the Tigers only had one more starter.
Logan Webb – 8 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 3.59. Webb gem!
Clay Holmes – 4 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 2.86 as he was activated from the IL. I’m a fan of Holmes, but let’s not get carried away. He’s a backend fantasy starter. Rosterable, but iffy. Saying the same in yet another way. Streamonator, perhaps.
Matthew Boyd – 7 IP, 2 ER, 8 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 3.50. Yeah, Boyd! (In honor of Flavor Flav’s fantasy team name.)
Ian Happ – 3-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 20th homer, and 2nd homer in two games. Looking at Happ, and had a PTSD-like flashback to Brad Hawpe. Also, while we’re on the Cubs-Royals game, I just saw Starling Marte homer and I have to be honest, I thought he retired. Let alone hitting 5th!
Craig Kimbrel – Signed with the Royals. Oh, yeah, that’ll fix them. Yeah, that’ll do it. Congrats, you’re fixed.
Gerrit Cole – 7 IP, 2 ER, 6 hits, zero walks, 9 Ks, ERA at 3.35 vs. Chris Sale – 6 IP, 3 ER, 7 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 2.20. Two HOFers facing each other in the heart of the pennant races, is there anything better? Besides, you rostering them for fantasy and doing well in your league, obviously.
Cam Schlittler – 7 IP, 1 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 11 Ks, ERA at 2.21. “Next time I have to throw a 7 IP, 1 ER, 12 Ks, and Jeff Gillooly his knees.” That’s Dylan Cease thinking about the AL Cy Young race.
Trent Grisham – 2-for-4 and his 13th homer, hitting .213. He shouldn’t be leading off for the Yankees. He shouldn’t be leading off for the Savannah Bananas.
Matt Olson – 1-for-4 and his 34th homer. One more to go! So, appizzarently, I needed to project him for 45 homers. Aw shucks, more wonderful!
Grant Holmes – 6 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 3.47. This weekend two Holmes pitched, like some sorta lost Dr. Who episode. Streamonator doesn’t like Holmes’s next one, and I really don’t know what to make of him, besides his Soul Glo hair. His underlying stats are bad, but the Braves just be doing shizz with their starters.
Sandy Alcantara – 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 3.52. His last three starts: 20 IP, 0 ER, 11 hits, 4 BBs, and 18 Ks. He became the Marlins’ record holder for most innings thrown wearing the teal and different shades of teal. A celebrated moment for the franchise which was commemorated with @FanDuelDeezNuts on X saying, “I had the under on six strikeouts, where does he live I want to mail him a present?”
Griffin Conine – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 11th and 12th homer, hitting .265. The Nepo Baby feeds off the leather smell of his father’s wallet.
Walbert Urena – 2 1/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 2.83. “Isn’t it awesome how regression comes out of nowhere like a blister on your lip the hour before a big date?” A deleted line from Alanis Morissette’s Isn’t It Ironic.
Jose Siri – 2-for-4 and his 7th homer, 2nd homer in four games. Could be a little hot stuffed potato–schmotato! Damn, Siri, your speech to text sucks.
Alec Burleson – 1-for-4, 2 runs and his 19th homer. Saw MLB tweet that this home run’s exit velocity was 110 MPH. Not to be a total nerd-slash-hater like The Comic Book Guy, but if it’s not above 112, it doesn’t need to be mentioned.
Ivan Herrera – 4-for-5, 1 run, 1 RBI, and a home run on Friday. Big weekend for Ivan. Something not said since Putski teamed up with Tito Santana.
Hunter Goodman – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 34th homer. Do you think it’s possible the Rockies signed Moniak to an extension and they thought he was Goodman? Remember, this is the Rockies.
Jacob Misiorowski – 6 IP, 3 ER, 5 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 1.76. Merely a Quality Start? Are you tired? Do you have the FATIGUE?! What is the meaning of this!? I need 6 IP, 1 ER, 12 Ks, at the least!
Jake Bauers – 2-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 21st homer, and caught stealing for the lesser publicized slam and “I got no legs” from the Kids movie.
Jackson Chourio – 1-for-3 and his 17th homer, and 4th homer this week. Ja-Chou, God bless you!
Kody Clemens – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 20th homer, hitting .231. The Nepo Baby in his natural environment feeds off his father’s Ferrari and mother’s genes.
Brooks Lee – 2-for-5 and his 17th homer, hitting .240. If you drafted Kody Clemens and Brooks Lee instead of Vlad Jr. and Mookie Betts–Well,, you don’t need salt in the wounds.
Colson Montgomery – 1-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 26th homer, hitting .215. Took almost a full year in the majors, but the strikeouts finally caught up to him in the last month and a half (hitting around .190).
Gage Jump – 6 IP, 2 ER, 8 baserunners, 11 Ks, ERA at 44.6. Went into Fenway and said, “You don’t scare me!” and he was screaming at a mirror and someone was like, “Are you okay?” And he was like, “Oh, yeah, just psyching myself up.”
J.T. Ginn – 6 IP, 1ER, 7 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 3.41. Funny how quickly teams go hot to cold and the Sawx now look like they’re struggling. Or at least look like the team that would’ve been helped by Curtis Mead. For more than two at-bats.
Jake Bennett – 5 1/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.17. 1st five starts: 33 IP, 0.82 ERA; last four starts: 23 IP, 5.09 ERA. Ja-Be ain’t jammin’.
Brandon Pfaadt – 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 3.36. Since his recall: 47 2/3 IP, 23 Ks (lol), 1.32 ERA, 0.97 WHIP. If you ain’t Pfaadt, you ain’t nothing. Yo, Ding Dong, man, Ding Dong, yo.
Edwin Diaz – 4 IP, 5 ER, 8 hits, 3 walks, 2 blown saves since his return. I hope Timmy Trumpets ain’t seeing this.
Justin Wrobleski – 3 1/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 3.44. Regression has come all at once for the Dodgers
Ketel Marte – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 20th homer, hitting .244. Ketel got old this year; who knew vodka aged?
Eduardo Rodriguez – 7 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 2.70. Dodgers are struggling so much right now, EdRod is a gust of wind away from huge regression, and they couldn’t hit him.
Kyle Bradish – 6 IP, 0 ER, 5 hits, zero walks, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.61 vs. Jacob deGrom – 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 3.87. You’ve heard me complain plenty about Bradish, but have you heard as much about deGrom? Do I need to step up my complaining game? Will they revoke my Jew card if I don’t complain every blurb? Bradish or deGrom on the Player Rater? Okay, deGrom, and not even close, almost a hundred spots difference. Though, neither that great.
Cade Povich – 3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 4.45, and pulled at 61 pitches with a 7-3 lead. [makes an over-exaggerated thumbs up]
Pete Alonso – 3-for-3, 3 runs, 4 RBIs and his 24th and 25th homer, hitting .252. Albombso-so!
Tyler O’Neill – 1-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 10th homer, 3rd homer this week and that they don’t let him face righties is incredibly stupid. He’s not in a pack of LLAMAS! (He screams and .00001% of the world knows what the hell I’m saying.)
Colton Cowser – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 9th homer. Went out with an O’s fan on Saturday, and I was telling him how frustrating the O’s are, and he was talking about how great the prospects were they got back for Adley and I’m convinced teams can tell their fans anything, and it doesn’t matter. Have the O’s been rebuilding for 15 years? Sure, but just wait until you see these next guys who will be ready to go once Gunnar, Cowser and Holliday are gone, and Pete Alonso looks like Chris Davis in his final years of his contract.
Gunnar Henderson – 0-for-4, 2 runs, 9th steal, hitting .213. As the Orioles scored 10 runs, I’d say ticker tease, but it’s more like ticker season.
Brandon Nimmo – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 13th homer. Nimmo found one!
Fernando Tatis Jr. – 2-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 11th homer, 3rd homer this week, hitting .283. It’s still a long shot, but if he gets to 20/40/.300, it’ll be such a great year for as much crap as I gave him. Fun The Jewels!
Jackson Merrill – 2-for-4 and his 18th homer, 2nd homer in two games. Since I was looking for Tatis, I looked for Merrill and he can realistically get to a 25/30/.260 year and that’s not awful! Less realistically, but possible, he can go 30/30. Those steals he added this year, after attending Josh Naylor’s offseason seminar at the Ramada Inn in Tangent, Oregon, titled, “Anyone Can Steal, Look At My Slow Ass.”
Griffin Jax – Hit the IL after being scratched with elbow discomfort. You mean a career middle reliever can’t just start throwing six innings a game as a starter? Shocked, I’ll tell ya. I’m sure the Rays had no idea, and have never before stretched out an arm they didn’t care about until it broke.
Ian Seymour – 6 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 4.08. Seymour reading my Griffin Jax blurb, “Uhh, I’m not going to be abused until my arm falls off, am I?” No, never! Haha, of course you are! I mean, not!
Emerson Hancock – 4 2/3 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 3.35. Someone should hold a sign that reads “Kade Anderson” directly behind the M’s dugout. Manager Dan Wilson clearly bumped his head and forgot.
Hunter Greene – Undergoing elbow surgery and will likely miss most of the 2027 season. Listen, it sucks, and I’m not mad at him as much as I am at the team and every situation where this occurs. Why not have the surgery months ago? They knew he was effed; things don’t suddenly appear. I mean they do, but they did months ago if not last year. He went for an MRI on March 4th and was dealing with elbow discomfort in 2025. Could he have went for the surgery in September of 2025? It’s possible. Then he’d be ready to go March of 2027. Now, who knows. It’s very frustrating how teams deal with injuries.
Chase Burns – 5 1/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 2.61. Crazy how pathetic the Nats’ lineup now looks. It went from genuinely dangerous to Corange and stinks. And regression still came for Burns!
Abimelec Ortiz – 2-for-3 and his 2nd homer. First off, can me talk about how great Abimelec was in Mr. Robot? Then as Freddy Mercury? Wow! The range! Nats’ manager Butera was sleeping one night and Marty McFly put Walkman headphones on him, woke him in his sleep and said he had to do platoons for everyone, except Corange, so as hot or cold Chaparro or Ortiz might be, it’s kinda tough to recommend outside of NL-Only.
Sean Manaea – 7 IP, 1 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 11 Ks, ERA at 4.13. I like starts from guys that just elicit a: Huh. This start was a Huh.
Luis Robert Jr. – 2-for-5, 4 RBIs and his 5th homer. I need to say to drop Vlad Jr. to see if that gets him going.
Bubba Chandler – 6 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.26. I knew his ERA was over-5 at one point, so I figured he must’ve pieced together a few nice months to get where he is, and nope. I’d be wrong. He’s managed to piece together multiple months (June/July) around a 4.25 ERA. (He has been better in August, for what it’s Wuertz.)
Jared Jones – 3 IP, 8 ER, ERA at 5.03. For ever-loving Ron Jeremy, it was the Mets!
Jake Mangum – 2-for-4 and his 4th homer, hitting .303. Fun fact! Wrapping Silly Putty around a cigarette is Man gum.
I see the Rangers call up Ben Peoples, and I’m curious if the family name is phonetically the same as people (pee-pull)?
I honestly hope it’s pee-opal, because, I don’t know, logic.
Ohhh, Nevermind. Thats just a nickname, his legal name is Benjamin Peoplesunderthestairs
Red Sox with runners on first and third and 1 out hit a fly ball. Scoreboard said 2 out, and runners took off without tagging up. Jays throw to first for the 3rd out, but the run scored before they got the out. If they had thrown to third, he would have been out for not tagging up. But this way, the run counts. After a very long discussion.
Mr. Grey. Need a Ut. Pickup-Canzone, Brooks Lee, Meidroth or Clemens. Ty.
Meidroth
Ben Joyce or Kevin Kelly ROS/’27 in a SV+HLDs league where Saves are worth double?

Hi Grey – was just offered Kyle Harrison for my Joshua Baez. I’m going for it this year and assume this is an acceptable? Is Harrison a no-brainer auto start the rest of the way? It’s a keeepr so Baez looks promising but should I take it?
Go for it!
Are you dropping any of Okamoto, Clemens, Adell for Gelof?
Nope
Sounds extreme, but is it time to just drop Gunnar?
At the absolute most I have five weeks of the season left, I haven’t used him for weeks (except on short-schedule days) and I can’t remeber the last time he actually did anything when I have.
And for SS and Util I’ve got the likes of Abrams, Lombard, Gelof (back today!) and Naylor to choose from.
I suppose he could catch fire in the last month but there’s nothing to suggest he will…
I don’t think it’s extreme…it’s fine in that league with those guys available
Nice one – by “to choose from” I mean those guys are all on my team *ok emoji*
Oh, ha, well it depends on who can replace Gunnar then I guess
We might be at cross purposes here a little lol. I’ve been using CJ at SS for pretty much all season. I guess what I’m saying is that to me any of those other guys is a better option than Gunnar for the Util spot.
He’s basicaly clogging a roster slot at this point.
Oh, I’m following now, sorry…Yes, you can lose Gunnar
Chasing saves and Edwin Diaz was just dropped. worth a claim? Or is he toast
Claim him
How long are the dodgers going to keep trotting out Diaz?
Not long
Sage lothario Grey
In a OPS league in what order would you wanna own. Cam smith, Adell, gelof , Culpepper , Paredes, Royce lewis, Keashall
Adell, Culpepper, Cam S.
Would you start Valdez vs. CLE or Martin Perez vs. Mets in points league. SON strongly favors Framber…but you know how that goes.
Valdez
Hey Grey! 10-team h2h categories league. Got Betts, Reynolds, and Hoerner at the bottom of my hitting roster. Would you swap any for Lombard, Perdomo, Ewing, Nimmo?
Betts for Ewing
Start or sit Mize vs Milwaukee today?
Start
A. in a shallow h2h cat league would you drop christian yelich for any of antonacci, cagliaone, benge, delauter, moniak, clark.
B. i’m also considering streaming the slot with jung hoo lee since his matchups are good this week. or would you take any of the above over him.
B. sure
Gunnar has been so bad that I’m benching him for Andruw [checks spell-check] Monasterio.
Hahaha
I saw Pfaadt on Saturday. He was throwing his change up alot more often and even located it well. He induced a lot of weak contact. I still dont believe it, but I am going to give him credit for it. The funny thing is, his siera is higher since he went on this run vs what he did earlier in the year when he was unusable.
Jun 1- current: 48.2 ip, 4.87 siera, 1.66 era, 4.44 k/9
Up to 5/31: 37 ip, 4.33 siera, 5.59 era, 7.3 k/9
I’d guess he crashes back to earth at some point but while he’s good
Yeah 1 HR over those last 48+ ip. If only eovaldi and degrom could do something like that.
Yeah, seriously
Are you starting Freddy at athletics today? SON has him at $16
No way
No
Like any of these OF over Meidroth in a dynasty?
Conine, Rengifo, Jacob Young, McNeil, Taylor Trammell, Esteury Ruiz, Varsho, Benintendi, Lawrence Butler, Angel Martinez, Jake Mangum, Evan Carter
Not really
Like any of them more than Arenado?
Can try Varsho if you like
Need a Jax replacement for the stretch run…points league 12 team: Martin Perez, Prielipp, David Peterson or Liberatore? Man I wish it was Jax instead…bummer
Perez
Sir Fantasy Master Lothario Grey,
Thank you for your sage Fantasy Baseball knowledge.

Would you start Erod at Atl this week, thank you
I would
Ron Jeremy and his underage looking date sat next to us at a Neil Young concert in the 90s. At first, it was an awesome celebrity sighting as he was walking in the aisle, but it was really creepy and awkward as the night went on with them being RIGHT NEXT TO US. Just gross
HAHA
bennett droppable to activate soroka?
Yes
Andrew Vaughn or Rengifo?

Bolte, Jones
Morning Grey –
Another notch in his gun for Pretty Boy Boyd.
Is Jared Jones toast? I was content to run him out there for the ratios despite the pitch count ceiling, but they seem to have evaporated.
Ratios, ratios: Would you drop Jones for any of Keider Montero, or (middle relievers) Morejon, Whitlock, Holton or Brazoban?
Start Snell vs KC tomorrow? If not, he’s got @COL next and with LAD 6-man, I guess we’re looking at unusable until August 23-ish?
Keider
Thanks — Happy Monday!

Afternoon & Happy National Lazy Day!
I gotta ask if SON is observing this holiday after seeing Jameson Taillon ranked so high vs. BOS today.
Am I missing something? Has Taillon given us any reason to trust him, especially vs. the hottest team in the MLB?
Additionally, looks like Dean Kremer pitching against his former team, would you stream him today or pass?
thanks as always!
I wouldn’t touch Taillon or Kremer
thank you & glad I’m not going crazy (or maybe we both are)!
Quick Bat question for today/ this week (6×6 OPS league):
Altuve (6 games) @ SF/ vs. SEA
Ewing (6 Games) @ ATL / vs. WSH

Ewing as long as healthy
Thank you again; looks like Ewing is at least healthy enough to bat leadoff today!
Yay!

Great weekend round up Grey!
Need your lineup advice. Have several guys that have multiple positions and need 1 player for each 1B, 2B and OF. So 2 players sit from the following group. 10 team H2H weekly league with OBP. I’ve ordered them form Highest Hitteron values to lowest
Ceddane 2B/OF 7 games @TOR/@PIT
Luis Arraez 1B/2B 6 games @STL/@MIN
Jac Caglinone 1B/OF 6 games @LAD/@LAA
Willson Contreras 1B 7 games @TOR/@PIT
Lombard Jr 2B/SS 6 games SEA/@TOR
Right now my default is Willson at 1B, Arraez at 2B and Ceddane at OF. Let me know if you’d make any swaps.
Thanks!

Been scrambling at both 1B and 3B, and I’m currently rostering Riley, Paredes, and Basabe. One’s gotta go. I’m leaning Riley or Paredes, they’re both so yawnstipating.

Good morning. Redraft, 12 team, standard 5 x 5 roto.This week:
Thanks.
Seager 2. Trout
changed mind on Seager/Perdomo
Morning Grey! My rotation has Webb, McLean, Eovaldi, and Henderson. There’s a pretty good rotation on the wire too, but the league has a transaction cap that puts moves at a premium. Would you move on from any of my guys for any of these guys on the wire?
KHarrison
NMartinez
Ashcraft
Melton
Tolle
Bradish
BMiller
Harrison is on waivers? Yes, over Eovaldi
Yeah, he got waived when he was injured and hasn’t been snapped up! I got nervous with the cramps from his last start…
Gotcha
Prescient!
Here’s a question Grey. You been in a friend league for 15 years and a new guy comes along decides to start two SPs on IR and costs me a playoff spot. Now I can’t guarantee that but I only missed a playoff spot by 1 game. We are roto 5×5 league. He had pitchers to start but guess because his team blows he quit. Called it out to commissioner 4 weeks ago and here we are. That ruins leagues especially keeper leagues.
4 week I been plugging away with lineup changes to catch him and just like that it’s done because someone who has a phone in his hand can’t put lineup in.
You think it’s time to call it in this league?
That sucks, man, I don’t know on calling it, depends on the other owners and if you want to keep trying to beat their asses…definitely need to vet the new guy in better
Just lost jax and yesavage. drop Jobe for Mahle 5×5 cat? I dont think jobe gets me many Ws.
gut feeling mahle has a run in him. Likely crazy but he was really bad at oracle park and good on the road somehow. Nothing to back this up and may be as unjustified as my luis rengifo 20/25 season gut prediction3 years ago.
Hahahaha, I do think Rengifo can still get there! I’d try Mahle
Grey,
would you drop Logan Henderson this week (@SD; @LAD) for Shota (@Was; STL) in a points league?
Yes
What’s up Grey?
Which closer would you go with this week?
Tanner Scott (7, KC, MIL)
Luke Weaver (6, BOS, @MIA)
Ryan Zeferjahn (6, STL, @WAS)
Thanks!
Should have noted it’s a SV only league.
Weaver

Hi Grey,
Another manager dropped Willson Contreras. With Kurtz on the IL, I have Stewart at 1B and Alonso in the DH slot. I have read that the A’s might even shut down Kurtz for the season. As you know, Stewart is eligible at several infield positions.
I have to complete against other managers to get him.
1. I put in a bid to get him and am dropping Peter Lambert from this list
Lambert
Tyler Maher
Christian Scott
Framber Valdez
Griffin Jax – IL
2. Would you choose a different player?
Thanks as always for your ongoing support and kindness.
Jax
Hey Grey,
I hope you had a great weekend man.
ROS for a contender in a 20 team h2h cat dynasty:
Braden Montgomery or Seiya Suzuki
Thank you!
Thanks! Seiya
Gracias amigo!
No problemo
In a 12 team Roto was offered B Witt jr., for Yamamoto. I am leading in all hitting categories and need wins and K’s so I have to say no, right? Just feels wrong.
Guess turn it down
Hi Grey,
1. Would you start or sit Trevor Rodgers at Minnesota?
Thanks!
Yes
Drop Jared Jones for Happ or a returning Maikel or hold?
Happ
I had a strong H2H week which pushed me to within one game of 2nd place and a bye in our 12 teamer which has three weeks left in the regular season. I did this against an also ran club where I played without an OF. Not sure I should do this much longer. My schedule is ok down the stretch: vs 8th place, 1st place and then 11th place. The first place team is a monster though and can hang a 14-5 loss on you some weeks (19 cat league). The second place team has an easier road playing 5th place (roster is good tho), 11th place and 12th place but ya never know.
Soto in IL slot. Buxton and j Ryan sitting around.
1. Compete for bye week and Drop Bux for Tawa or A Martinez?
2. Drop Ryan for OF but hold Bux?
3. Drop Ryan for a pitcher like D May?
4. Drop both Bux and J Ryan for an OF and May?
My makeup: gotta win it all. 2nd place is not meaningful so I have been patient holding injured guys who have pedigree hoping they can be a difference maker come September. Thoughts?

Very helpful. So drop J Ryan for Tawa, O’Neil, Church, J Young, or Marsee? Man, never thought I would be dropping an all star for a scrub but here we are.
Those are terrible options, why do you need them?
Well, per my missive above, I have an open slot in my OF currently. Been playing a man down for past 8 days and it has not hurt me. In fact, I won Ks by one so likely helped me. It’s H2H so tempting just to be patient with Ryan or swap him for a string of streamers.
Ok, I didn’t know the actual options…Surprised in a 12 teamer the options are so bad
Terrible. We play 5 OF and one Utility where many OF reside. Couple teams carry bench bats too. Have a good one. I need Soroka to be decent ROS.
Me too!
Are Jax and Crochet drops in 12 teamers??
Yes
Jarred Jones had the least competitive start I’ve seen all year. Guy looked hung over. If he wasn’t, then he looked like he didn’t want to be there.
Ha, ouch
You dropped the Polish Hammer on me with that Soul Glo comment! Grant Holmes now seems sexier somehow…which is unexpected for a guy who looks like Wild Bill Hickock. Great stuff, Grey!
HAHA
Hey Grey! Who are you benching from the below? Need Ws and ratios (esp WHIP). Thanks!
Scott

Two questions
1) Have one open SP slot, please rank the following:
Manaea Vs Wash
Mahle vs NYM
Prielipp vs Phil
Sandoval @ Tor, @ Pitt (2 starts)
Bieber vs NYY
2) We have 2 RP slots, I currently have Latz (TX) and Diaz (LAD). Both have 7 games this week, so full schedule
Manaea has RP eligibility
Would you substitute him for either Latz or Diaz?
If so,
a) which one?
b) what other starter (from above) would you insert into the open SP slot?
Thanks good luck in playoffs to all
If I understand correctly:
Insert Mahle
Substiture Manaea for Diaz?
Yes
Who do I drop for Soroka? Gasser or Jared Jones
QS league
Jones
Hi Grey,
Quick question – 15 tm 5×5 roto keeper league- we keep 7. Which of these should I take?
Number 1 – trade Jordan Walker/Chase Burns for Corbin Carroll
Number 2 – trade Walker/Burns for Jacob Misiorowski
Number 3 – trade Walker/Burns/Ben Rice for Corbin Carroll, Sal Stewart.
Thanks!
Mis
One more question Grey….
Do you think Seattle brings Kade Anderson to the bigs? Now that they traded Castillo away, anyone of their 5 starters stumbles or gets hurt, he is likely to get a call up.
He looks filthy in the minors!
Not sure why he’s not up already
Sounds like teams are playing the “wait until they can’t exhaust rookie eligibility before promoting” at this point. I’ve read it’s somewhere around Aug 14.
I’ve been holding Joshua Baez and Kade Anderson for a while now and the service-time game is one of the most frustrating parts of MLB when guys are clearly ready for The Show.
Yeah, prolly
Love the write up Grey!
I have Schwarbie, he did have a brutal July, glad he got back to his old self yesterday!
I also have Jared Jones, was pretty happy with him before his last two starts. Heading into the playoffs next week, or the week after if i get the bye. You think he is just a steamanator play now?
Thanks as always for your input!
Yep
Hi Grey,
Enjoyed the write up
I’m in a 15 team 5×5 roto keeper league and we keep 7 players – no salaries – I’ve got 8 guys
Bobby Witt
James Wood
Nick Kurtz
Junior Caminero
Kevin McGonigle
Cam Schlittler
Jordan Walker
Chase Burns
I have 2 offers – do I take either one?
Trade 1
I get Corbin Carroll
I trade Jordan Walker, C Burns
Trade 2
I get Jacob Miz
I trade Jordan Walker, C Burns
Thanks!
Miz
For the week, would you start Woo, 2x on the road(yanks and Houston) w his 6+ era on the road or Sasaki at home vs. Milwaukee, Ty.
Neither? Roki
The last ten years or so I’ve left most drafts with no catcher rostered, knowing that the goons who drafted two catchers will drop one once critical things are happening every day at impactful positions. This year one of my scores included Ivan Herrera. He’s sitting at 70/13/49/7/.244 through 118 team games. That’s 96/18/67/10/.244, over 162. It would have been the kind of score that’s puts you in the money any other year, but this year that’s only good enough for the #7 catcher. I’m still not going to draft one next year.
Still not bad

Wow, was really close to the worst of the last five years, arguably worst two back to back if not worst two in a season
The “I have no legs” guy from the movie Kids still haunts me more than 30 years later…
Same!
Pick one ROS, Bazanna, B. Stott, C. Young, Antonacci, or Sanoja?
Young
Had to watch Weird Al after that Pfaadt comment
