Deejay, “Hey, welcome back to Bleday! We are your nonstop rap, hip-hop, trip-hop, bounce, cloud rap, road rap, Christmas rap, Hanukkah rap, Jerkin’, freestyle, trap, but no Jazz rap, he’s out with a stress fracture in his back. Now, let’s boogie for the 2nd half of the season!” Wait, that was me at the end. Was it clearly not me prior to that? Yes? Okay, great. So, JJ Bleday (2-for-4, 1 run and his 1st steal) was called up by the Marlins. Fun fact! Bleday is the rap station in Los Angeles. A less fun fact is Bleday was hitting .228 in Triple-A. He hits everything in the air, which isn’t bad for a power hitter, but it will mean not a lot on average, and, while he stole on Sunday, he doesn’t have a lot of speed either. Think a young Rhys Hoskins. Call him Mees Hoskids, because the JJ stands for Jar Jar. Bleday should see playing time, along with Bryan De La Cruz (2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 7th homer), because Jorge Soler hit the IL, i.e., Bryan De La Soler is plug one. Bleday, plug two. De La Soler, plug one. Bleday, plug two. Anyway. here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Jazz Chisholm – Transferred to the 60-day IL with a stress fracture in his back. No real update here, except the Marlins wanted to remind us how unfortunate we were, so passing along that sadness. If this is Jazz, I get why all the guys who play it do smack.
Max Meyer – Hit the IL with an elbow sprain. Hello, dankness…dankness…dank–Ugh, forget it! I can’t even sing a freakin’ dirge!
Sandy Alcantara – 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 1.81. Only six innings? Haha, what a bum!
Oneil Cruz – 1-for-4 and his 5th homer, hitting .208. If Oneil ever makes contact regularly, he’s going to be a problem for pitchers.
Rafael Devers – Hit the IL with hamstring inflammation. “Can one loss make a team a seller? We’re on the ground with our team of scientists measuring the dog in the Red Sox after they gave up 64 runs to the Jays on Friday.” My worry is Devers would’ve been fine if the Red Sox were still in it, but suddenly they seem to be selling and that could mean Devers will not be rushed back.
Kutter Crawford – 6 IP, 3 ER, 6 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.50. I like Kutter, and, if the Red Sox are sellers, he could stay in the rotation, but he’s more of a Streamonator call, and prolly for 15 team mixed leagues or deeper.
Jackie Bradley Jr. – 2-for-4 and his 3rd homer. More like Jackie Bradley Hr.
Raimel Tapia – 3-for-5, 1 run, 4 RBIs, and a huge weekend. Might be a little bit of Fenway helping, and the Red Sox pitching not hurting, but Tapia looks like a full-blown hot schmotato.
Logan Gilbert – 6 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 2.77 vs. Justin Verlander – 7 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 1.86. This was a matchup of two guys who appeared in my top 100 for the 2nd half of 2022 fantasy baseball. Wait, am I actually linking to a post as old as six days and saying it’s still relevant? That’s wild!
Robbie Ray – 3 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 3.90. Liked Robbie Ray better when I’d say he was a whole lotta ass, and I was talking primarily about his pants. His fastball was averaging 93.2 MPH, which is about where he’s been this year, but down from last year, and, well, I don’t know. He looked awful, no way around that, and gets the Astros in Houston next time out, and I think I’m benching him, which means he’s going to bounce back. I hope.
Jesse Winker – In the matter of five innings yesterday, Winker hurt himself twice, so not sure which one was the reason he left the game but I’m sure Winker will get back out there in the next two to three weeks, play for five games, then get hurt again. Replacing him was Abraham Toro (1-for-1, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), who hit his 8th homer. Toro make me horn-y! Please make note of the hyphen.
Jeremy Pena – 1-for-5 and his 14th homer. Fun fact! J.P. Crawford is not Jeremy Pena Crawford.
Jose Altuve – 2-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 19th homer. I cannot wait to draft Altuve next year for the first time in seven years, and have him finally disappoint.
Michael Perez – Traded to the Mets for cash. The cash was said to be a figure less than a dollar and more than thirty cents.
Daniel Vogelbach – 1-for-3, 1 run as he got his first start on his new team. Solid platoon bat for the Mets, and their owner, Steve Cohen, has the money to charter a separate plane for him.
Pete Alonso – 2-for-3, 2 runs, 4 RBIs and his 25th homer. Albombso!
Blake Snell – 5 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.75. A guy who won the Cy Young as dominantly as he did will always get a cyclops with a monocle for me if he throws a decent game, but his opponent, Chris Bassitt, pitched a better game (7 IP, 2 ER, 4 baserunners, 11 Ks, ERA at 3.72), so I’m not running out to grab Snell anywhere just yet in shallower leagues.
Joe Musgrove – 5 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 7 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.63. Uh-oh, 2nd half Musgrove.
Marcus Stroman – 6 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.38. Kinda surprised to see his ERA even that low, because I thought this was his 1st decent start all year. Streamonator — Stromanator? — doesn’t like his next start, and I agree.
Justin Turner – Sounds headed to the IL. The Dodgers are already in “Let’s rest everyone for our one-and-done playoff series” mode. Look for Jay Clam to get more playing time if Turner’s out.
Evan Longoria – Headed to the IL with a strained hamstring. What a weird thing to find in your colander!
Ezequiel Duran – 1-for-3, 1 run, 1 RBI as he was promoted back to the majors. He was an early Dur’ling of mine when he was first promoted, and I still like him, if he’s getting playing time. Has some speed, power and average might not kill you.
Adolis Garcia – 4-for-4, 3 runs, 3 RBIs and a slam (17) and legs (14), and 2nd homer since the break. He was included in Friday’s Buy, as a 2nd half buy guy. The Buy guy! Giolito was too, and his 1st post-break start wasn’t great, but trying to maintain some faith.
Leody Taveras – 3-for-5, 1 run, 1 RBI and his 6th steal, hitting, like, .800 in the last few weeks. Dude’s been hotter than a junebug in July.
Paul Blackburn – 4 1/3 IP, 10 ER, ERA at 4.35. Thanks for making me feel better about Robbie Ray. His owners can’t sit down as they have been Blackburn’d.
Corbin Martin – 4 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 3.93, as he was recalled. Corbin Martin graduates! Corbin Martin graduates! Corbin Martin graduates! (To streamer.)
Lance Lynn – 6 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 6.43. Now? After I drop him?! I crotch grab in the general direction of his crotch grab! *reverse lights to waivers* Fine, I will pick Lynn back up because his next start is vs the A’s, but if that turns out poorly, so help me God.
Dylan Cease – 6 IP, 0 ER, 8 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.03. Wasn’t a great start by him, but, on the other hand, it was maybe an even better start for him because he had to pitch without his best stuff, and it still worked.
Eloy Jimenez – 1-for-4 and his 4th homer, and 2nd homer in the last two games. “So, you’re saying after the All-Star Break it’s Opening Day?” Hypnotist hired by the White Sox, “That’s right.” Eloy, “Then why is it called the All-Star Break?” Hypnotist, “Never mind that. Also, I need you to not pull your hamstring while running around the bases on a homer.”
Shane Bieber – 6 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 3.55. If you managed to start any pitchers this weekend, and avoided blow outs, then great work wasting one of your genie wishes on that rather than, “Becoming a millionaire.” *intern whispers in ear* Oh, I’m being told, it costs a million dollars to fill-up your gas tank and everyone is a millionaire now.
Franmil Reyes – 2-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 9th homer. Well done, $54 Vending Machine Steak, and that’s not cooking instructions.
Steven Kwan – 2-for-4 and his 2nd homer. Guy who was in a coma since the first week of the season, slowly opens his eyes, then, “Wow, Steven Kwan is still hot?! This guy is the best draft pick ever! How’s Seiya Suzuki doing? Just as good? Still banging dongs?! Hey, why’s everyone tiptoeing out of the room?”
Gerrit Cole – 6 IP, 3 ER, 11 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.09. He’s had 20 starts this year, and only six of them have been fantastic, but nine of the other fourteen have been like Saturday’s — gutsy, digging-deep performance. Not necessarily a Quality Start, but solid enough. Three starts to start the year that were derailed by Billy Crystal and only two starts since that have been a bit dubya tee eff.
Aaron Judge – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 37th homer. Gonna check Guinness Book of World Records, but I think Judge has to be close to the record for the longest stretch of being unconscious.
Jose Trevino – 4-for-4, 1 run, 1 RBI, hitting .264. That’s a double and three singles, which is a whole season’s worth of hits for Yasmani Grandal.
Nestor Cortes – 6 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.48. Thinking about a parallel universe where I accidentally bumped my head, missed the 4th and 5th round of drafts, didn’t get Robbie Ray and Chris Sale, then had to draft Cortes and Gonsolin around 250th overall.
Hunter Renfroe – 2-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 16th homer, and his 3rd homer in three games. As Scooby Doo would say, “Renfroe!”
Kris Bryant – 3-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer. Better yet, he’s still actually playing! It’s like watching a miracle unfold!
Joe Ryan – 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.89. Pretty fantastic season for Joe Ryan, all things considered. This was brought you by Amazon Prime’s Joe Ryan: All Things Considered, streaming now!
Sonny Gray – 6 IP, 1 ER, 3 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.52. There’s a few teams I would start everyone against, and the Tigers and the A’s are those teams.
Austin Meadows – Has yet to resume running. His LinkedIn page this year is severe lacking.
Eduardo Rodriguez – All recent updates about Ed-Rod make him sound like an alien on NASA’s softball team. “The team has made contact with Eduardo, and he’s doing well.” *a crowd cheers* Supposedly, Ed-Rod has started a throwing program and might return to the Tigers in August. Outside of AL-Only, it’s likely irrelevant.
Michael Pineda – Hit the IL with triceps tightness. A tight Pineda sounds like easy candy, baby!
Yan Gomes – 2-for-4 and his 4th and 5th homer. Yan can homer and so can you! (Not really.)
Drew Smyly – 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.93. He feels like someone who will be traded in the next week, and then have a 7+ ERA on his new team.
Jeffrey Springs – 4 1/3 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 2.50, as he was activated from the IL. Two part question: Does anyone pull the pitcher in the 5th inning more than Kevin Cash and why even ask this question when it’s so obvious?
Brady Singer – 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 12 Ks, ERA at 3.82. *sits up in chair, leans in to hear more* Go on. Long overdue to take a deeper look at Singer — 9.4 K/9, 2.3 BB/9, 3.30 xFIP, if those numbers sound great to you, you’re not wrong. They are great. If he qualified, he’s be 15th in the league for K-BB%, and same as Joe Musgrove. That’s pretty much all you need to know. That’s worth owning in every league. Unfortch, his next start on the Streamonator is awful, and I agree (it’s at Yanks).
Mike Trout – Received a cortisone shot, and won’t return when eligible today. Average human is 60% water; Trout’s 40% water, and 20% cortisone.
Taylor Ward – 3-for-5, 2 runs and his 13th homer, and left the game with a cramp. This also proves Ward didn’t retire after his big week in April.
Jonathan Villar – Designated for assignment. I’d say I’m not sure why the Angels ever signed him if they were going to release him after two weeks, but I’m not sure you can have two generational talents on your team, and do as bad as the Angels have done, while knowing what you’re doing.
Adam Duvall – Will undergo season-ending surgery on his wrist. Gotta let out “a dam.”
Ian Anderson – 3 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 5.31. There was nowhere to hide this weekend from offense. Did MLB decide to juice the balls right after the break? Yes, and here’s 13 Reasons Why that Netflix show sucks.
Steven Matz – Returned after a month on Saturday, but left with a torn MCL, ending his season. The Italian curse word is ugatz; the fantasy baseball curse word is “You got Matz.” *motions wildly with hands* “I got ugatz from my fantasy pitcher spot!” “Oh, yeah? You got Matz!”
Miles Mikolas – 5 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 2.87. The Regression Fairies painted a rainbow on my face while I was sleeping and defecated on my fantasy teams’ pitchers this whole weekend.
Paul Goldschmidt – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 23rd and 24th homer. Deux Shizz!
Tyler Stephenson – Hit the IL with a broken right clavicle. This bums me out more than a sociology student pretending to be homeless for their thesis. In his place will be some combo of Papierski/Kolozsvary, which sounds like a checkpoint in Poland where they motion towards the toilet when you ask for the duty-free area.
Joey Votto – 1-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 8th homer, and 2nd homer in the last three games. If he were dropped, because he absolutely sucked up the suck-hole for the last few months, then I could see a schmotato to grab.
Tyler Mahle – 6 IP, 3 ER, 5 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.48 as he was activated from the IL. Hmm…Tyler Stephenson gets hurt just as Tyler Mahle returns. Might need Tyler the Creator to make another one.
great write up grey
so far this week for me and they are all stuck starting during the extended all start week. what are is the prognosis for devers and robert?
think they will be back by next monday?
stephens 9/6 devers 8/2 robert 7/29, whitt 7/25, india thigh 7/26 and alvarez
Drop Winker for Brendan rogers of Josh Rojas?
Manaea and Odorizzi really didn’t like your Tigers and As paradigm.
Holy crap Manaea. Droppable in 10 teamer for streamer types? S Gray, Singer, Detmers, Ashby, Suarez, Finnegan/Melancon available to take his spot
NL only OBP over AVG, net steals over steals, total bases added 10 team h2h.
drop which of mazouza, t.taylor or naquin? somebody dropped j.steele right after matz goes back on IR (man, that dude sure times his injuries well don’t he, found the easiest way to get that contract money hehe)
i remember telling some cardinals fans out matz who didn’t know when they signed him, i’m like he’s good a good chunk of the time when healthy, which he ain’t often. had no clue i’d be this immediately prescient.
about matz, not “out”
and that “if this is jazz…” line could be in the running for best this year. always a funny trope about jazz/blues guys and junk usage.
Start anyone vs. DET right? /cry
How bad is Montgomery and Berrios tomorrow? I’m in a “things couldn’t get any worse” mood, and that’s a DARK place to be!
Hi Grey,
10 tm h2h pts
J.India or G.Torres or keep them both and drop A.Cobb
Always big THANKS!
Depends on needs…prolly go India
Pretty quick and simple….
Miranda or Moncada ROS? Points league
Miranda
Obviously depends on waiver options, but would you be ok moving on from Paredes and Ruiz (SD) in RCL? Part of me wanted to wait to see what happens with Ruiz at the trade deadline, but it looks like both are not playing every day right now.
Yeah can move on
12 Team H2H 6×6 QS Redraft No starts or innings limits
I currently roster the following:
Cease, Framber, Strider, Morton, T. Anderson, Cobb, Lauer, Sandoval, Lodolo
1). Is this staff solid enough to complete in the playoffs?
2). With Singer available, is he a must add for me and if so who is the drop? I could also drop one of my multi positional bench bats as well. (Lux, Rojas). Would bench him @NYY this Thursday.
Thank you
1. Prolly not 2. Sure, over Lux
Ya, thought so. Drafted 4 bats first, and then Morton and Cease with picks 58 and 63 who were both “second pitchers “ on the Pitcher Pairings Tool. Prolly one round too late to draft my first SP, would you agree?
Thanks again
Yeah, sounds about right
@Grey: weekly roto redraft. ray/eloy for arenado/peralta? who you liking?
Ray
Pick a side please. Robbie Ray or Eloy + Trevor Rogers? I’m struggling with pitching and need SP help.
Meh try Ray but prolly neither
This is pretty funny.
https://www.mlb.com/news/victor-robles-wears-clown-nose-after-bumgarner-s-comments
Haha nice
It should be a written rule, that you must respond to any accusation that you’ve breached an unwritten rule, in a humourous fashion.
Yeah, unfortunately there’s lots of fun police and Nats manager said he didn’t approve of Robles’s move
Start julio rod in weekly lineup until 28th? Or go to abraham torro? Thanks
Go with Julio
How about torro, brendan donovan or naquin. Naquin is facing 2 lefties the next 4 days.
Donovan
15 team h2h category 6×6 keeper with OBP and TB
Need to drop L Garcia (WAS) for an OF. Does anyone in this group stand out or should I just play match ups? J Lowe, Engle, Grisham, Senzel, Calhoun, Lamb, Robles, Pinder
Thanks!
Matchups
Another last minute lineup question: Morel is hot and has 6 games. Only tough pitcher he faces is Rodon. Play him over Starling Marte who has 5 games and faces JMo, Alcantra and Lopez?
Nah
@Grey: you starting witt in weekly leagues? hes out of the lineup today. not sure if its just one game or a prolonged absence. my only other option at 3b would be yandy diaz.
I am starting Witt
Late to the party today. With Sal Perez rehabbing, how does Melendez’s role change ROS? Thanks!
DH platoon
Please pick best streamer of these?
Eavoldi home vs Clev
Skubal home vs Padres
J.Gray at Seattle
Skubal
Not sure if I should sit Bux for the week. 5 games and got a knee treatment. Maybe he comes back for all 5 and feels the medicine. Maybe he takes more time off. I’d play Taylor Ward instead. 7 games, seems to be heating up. Ward or Bux?
And I think I have to play sore hand Yordan, right? Alternatives would be Morel, Miranda, Ozuna
I’d go Ward if he’s playing
You have to play Yordan
Unless he gets IL’d
Great roundup Grey!
I’m in a H2H and my opponent is playing 3 closers this week out of 7 total pitching spots. I have Hendriks and Romano. I also have Shane Mac, Nola, Wheeler and Jordan Montgomery (2 starts). Which arm from the list below would you start?
1) Kimbrel – WSH / @COL
2) Luis Garcia @OAK
3) Framber SEA
4) Bassitt @MIA
Thanks!
LG
Who are the three closers your opponent is starting?
Hader, Holmes and Raisel
Oh, you’re losing that…Go with Framber
Cool thanks!
No problem
Great stuff Grey!
What are your thoughts on Ethan Small? He’s getting called up and might stick in the rotation…
Thanks
Thanks! I doubt he sticks, and his last start last under 3 IP
One more question for you Grey,
Does Luis Robert’s illness worry you at all? Seems similar to Vertigo which is an awful condition.
Someone offered me Hader for him and I’m 3/12 in saves.
Yeah, it worries me…I’d take Hader in a redraft if I needed saves
Thanks !
No problem
Pratto or Bleday?
Prolly try Pratto
So now Witt is hurt too haha
j Rod
Lu Bob
Devers
fun stuff!
have you started new season of shadows yet?
Hahaha Frank- that’s the core of my AL only except for Witt. Replace Witt w Wander. I’m hurting and have been on first. Going to be hard to stay there w these guys out…
Shadows is so great, unlike Lou Bob, Devers, JRod
Last episode was so great, love the direction theyre taking baby colon robinson with the showtunes
Love it! Baby Colin Robinson is so awesome

Gonsolin
Do you think Votto will have his 2nd half magic again this year or grab Rowdy who just became available on waivers? Is it even close?
I’d want Tellez
And another quick question. Who do you think will stay healthier and have a bigger impact the 2nd half: Eloy or T O’Neill?
Eloy
chicharrones!
Agreed!
What’s the word on the west coast? Trout coming back? Is he worth trading for at a modest discount? Riley Greene and Bellinger too much? Thanks.
Greene/Cody for Trout? Sure, if you can
Hi Grey,
In my home league- 12 team H2H categories I have a question regarding a trade.
My team has been kicking ass with both hitting and pitching and I’ve got a first round bye locked up. My hitting goes:
C: Kirk
1B: Alonso, Abreu; Cron
2B/(SS): Polanco, Torres, (Adames)
3B: Hayes
OF: Betts, Judge, Bell
Bench/Streaming: This week it’s Estrada for all the lefty pitching and Farmer because games @ GAB
Starters:
Wheeler, Alcantara, Kershaw, Gonsolin, Lynn, Strider, Cobb, Mahle
Relievers (tend to punt saves and holds)
Heasley
Lopez
I would like to trade Cron for thirdbase but everyone’s holding because it’s just such a wasteland after the few good producers at the position. I was thinking of going all in for starting pitching by trading Cron for Charlie Morton. Would you make that trade or just hold Cron and let the good times roll when the Coors days roll in-thanks!
That Morton trade doesn’t sound good — Maybe Cron for like Drury or Arraez or Wisdom? Not as good, but better than Hayes
Worthwhile to keep Stripling for his @ Detroit start ?
For what it’s worth, Jays broadcast mentioned that the bullpen was fresh as the reason why Stripling got the early hook.
Sure, hold
@Grey: weekly roto, need to start one of the following. who do you like?
vinnie p – 3 vs laa, 4 @ nyy
franmil – 4 @ bos, 3 @ tb
suzuki – 2 vs pit, 4 @ sf
thanks!
Franmil
@Grey: weekly roto. need to start one of the following. need wins/ratios most (good on k’s). who do you like?
cobb vs chc
kirby vs tex, @ hou
ray @ hou
ryan @ sd
skubal vs sd
thanks!
Cobb
Myers is within days of returning which is going to clog up the OF even more. Ruiz has started 1 out of last 4. I am not overly optimistic about ruiz’s playing time. I’d like to see cronenworth at 1b, ruiz at 2b and Hosmer anywhere else except in the lineup, but that’s not happening
Yeah, Ruiz might be outside looking in when Myers is there
Hope you are wrong on Montas. I turned down some decent offers a few weeks ago thinking he would be valuable once traded to a contender. Three innings last outing not very convincing!
Haniger or Pham?
Yeah…Pham
Happy Monday!
1) Can you rank these guys?
Moustakas, LaStella, Ruf, Wendle, Ramon Urias, Yandy, Nicki Lopez?
2) Gold is out for the next couple of games in TOR. For the week, he has three games @WSH. Use him for three games or any of the guys (who each have 6 games they might play in) in question 1?
1. Urias, Wendle…
2. Use Goldy
Thank you.
Use Urias or Wendle over any of India, Mateo or Miranda?
Is India out? Urias over Mateo if you don’t need SBs
Hi Grey,
1.I have really have to be selective on innings. I have only 488 innings left for the season or 49 innings/week or eights starts/week. I was going to sit Nick Pivetta at Cleveland Do you agree?
2.I was undecided to start or sit Aaron Ashby of the Brewers at home against Colorado? Thoughts?
3.I may be able to pick up Brady Singer. Who would you waive among Cobb, Wood, Clevinger, Pivetta or Aaron Ashby to get him or would you hold?
4.All my trade offers for Framber Valdez have been rejected. I could go for Julio Urias of the Dodgers. Would you try and get him for Cron and a couple of pitchers?
Thanks again for all your help!!
Martin
1. Agreed 2. Rockies on the road are one of the best starts in MLB, so start 3. Pivetta 4. Nope
Great advice! Thanks!
No problem
Hi Grey,
I would appreciate if you would analyze my line up. Please let me know of any players that should be waived or traded for the right player.
C: Will Smith
1B CJ Cron
2B Jose Altuve
3B Kris Bryant
SS Corey Seager
LF Josh Bell
CF Starling Marte
RF JD Martinez
Ut: Michael Harris II
Amed Rosario
Wilmer Flores
Rowdy Tellez
Your help is always appreciated!
Martin
You look weak on speed, are you?
Wilmer Flores seems droppable, but I don’t know who’s available
Great input!. I have not paid much attention to SB. Thanks for the suggestion!
Martin

Grey, why is it that every year I outsmart my whole league and get a catcher late who would’ve finished Top 3, something stupid happens, I end up getting nothing from the catcher position, and my genius goes unrecognized? This year it was Stephenson. Hellodarknessmyoldfriend.mp3
HAHA, same, man!
Is Stephenson a drop? Gotta be, right?
Yes
h/h points 12 team redraft… keep Jimenez or Haniger…next keep Correa or Arraez
Eloy
Correa
Your Michael Pineda blurb failed to mention which arm he hurt: spoon side or fork side?
HAHA
So funny
Well played
5×5 10T redraft
1. do you like Gallen (on wire) over Lodolo ROS?
Rest of rotation: Verlander, Berrios, Ray, Manaea, J Gray, Lynn, Lodolo
2. Like Kirby over other options?
Thanks
1. Yes 2. Nah
JP Crawford or Javy Baez ROS?
Baez
Arenado or Matt Chapman and Julio Urias Grey ?
Arenado, sounds fair
Singer over Taillon or just stream that spot?
Go Singer, tho his next start sucks
So, you could stream, then grab him maybe?
Thanks bud
No problem
Howdy – got Story and Trout.
Would you drop Riley Greene for R. Urias, K. Wong, Stott, JJ Bleday, Hoerner, L. Urias?
Play C. Walker or Nimmo for Trout?
Scratch JJ – for some reason he sounds like an MI – sorry!
Hoerner’s been hot, Ramon Urias too…So, yes…
Nimmo
would you trade Tyler Broneill and Pasquantino for Jazz in a keeper league?
back injuries scare me, and Jazz is now labeled as a definite repeat injury risk in future years for me
Yes
Hey Grey! Awesome write up as always!
My pitching is a mess as I can’t buy a W and am behind in K’s. Limited transaction league so trying to minimize moves
Here is my SP’s: Scherzer, Musgrove, Morton, Cobb, Sandoval, Lauer, Springs, Kopech and Peterson
1) Who would you drop to activate Heaney
2) Who would you drop to activate Kirby
3) Would you drop any others to pick up Odorizzi, Junis, Dietmers or Brady Singer?
Thanks so much!
Thanks! 1. Peterson 2. Kopech 3. Springs for Singer
ESPN Points, this week only, please rank top 4
1-Kirby vs Tex, @ Houst (2 starts)
2-Sonny Gray @ SD
3-Mikolas @ Wash
4-Sewald vs Tex (3), @Hou (4)
5-Lodolo vsMia, vs Balt (2 starts)
6-Brett Martin @Sae (3), @ LAA (4)
Thanks
Lodolo, Seward, Gray, Mikolas
Thanks, would you insert Giolito (@ Colorado) into that top 4?
Not @COL
You starting Lodolo, Odorizzi, or Junis anywhere today Grey ?
Who are they going against?
Lodolo vs. Marlins at home, Odorizzi @ Oakland, Junis @ Arizona
That order then
Thank you sir !
No problem
ESPN points, which side?
A-Giolito
B-Carrasco and Helsley (or Houck, have a choice)
Thanks
Helsley has been pulled so
A: Giolito
B: Carrasco and Houck
Giolito
Giolito
Hey Grey, I feel like this is a dumb question as I think i can probably use your 2nd half top 100 rankings but….in a shallow keeper league, I am out of it this year and looking to trade any one of my Ced Mullins, Gausman or C Javier for his Jazz Chisholm. Any reason I should not offer any of those three for Jazz?
No reason I can think of
Hey Grey,
My Gonsolin / Amed Rosario for his JD Martinez.
I easily pull the trigger on this, right?
Thanks in advance.
I have JD and I’ve benched him for now since he’s hurt, and the Red Sox being out of it, might rest him…So, I guess it’s fair, but I’d want someone else
Thanks Grey… I’ll set my sights on Springer/France/Altuve types instead. Much Appreciated!!!
No problem
Hey Hey Hey, It’s JJ
Sup with David Patterson tossing 1ip yesterday?
errrrr meant his brother Peterson
I guess he’s been bumped from rotation
Or maybe Mets don’t need a 5th starter for a while? I don’t know, tbh
12-team, h2h.
I have Scherzer, Framber Valdez, Pablo Lopez, Tyler Mahle, Eovaldi, Jordan Montgomery, George kirby, hunter greene.
would you drop any of these for Brady Singer ROS?
would you drop any of these for sonny gray ROS?
thank you!
Greene, Kirby
The Grey Man! Have you seen The Gray Man??
It sucks.
Also – Marcus Stroman: the dude has a 8.16 K/9, 2.48 BB/9, 46.3% GB%, and 3.27 xFIP. I know the ERA and xERA are in the 4s, but I’m surprised by how much Streamonator consistently dislikes him. Who’s missing something: me, Streamonator, or should we just get a room?
Ha, I haven’t seen it, but heard it sucked
Streamonator hates Wrigley bc of the wind, and Stroman doesn’t have huge Ks to overcome that
I watched Stroman’s last start. He looked pretty solid. Was locating his pitches well.
Ah, nice, I admittedly have not seen him in a few starts
morning gray who is the better “stash” in roto 5×5
Lance mc cullers Hous
Jesus Luzardo Mia
Dustin may LAD thanks
Morning! None…McCullers
What about Peralta?
He would be the top stash from those
@Grey: weekly roto, Ray and Franmil for Arenado? Which side?
Hmm…It’s even, I guess Arenado
Gonna try to trade for Braxton Garrett and hopefully not give much up… I think this will be my last chance to do that in dynasty in the 2nd half before our league’s trade deadline. Even though I’m not super sure on his future success, I’ll take a chance on the Miami pitching magic on this young guy. Could use the innings.
Any thoughts? He prob feels like just a guy. But I heard a recent Eno Sarris’ mention on buying in now, with what we’re seeing over last few weeks (based on his Stuff+ metric). I mentioned Eno’s Stuff+ recently in a comment but forget the reason.
I remember now. It was Max Castillo who was filling in for a hot second in that Toronto rotation before the ASG break. His Stuff+ was intriguing at the time, but was also in relief, not starting. Still in open slot for the Sploo Jays, but I’m sure they trade for pitching next week at the deadline.
max castillo already started twice in a row, the 16th and 10th. those were also his last 2 appearances. this stuff can be looked up when you say these falsehoods you know right, in like a few minutes.
Braxton’s numbers look solid, prolly a bit overrated right now
drop winker for tapia, jorge mateo or franmil
Franmil, kinda depends on needs
Hey, Grey!
RCL league …. which side would you refer in this trade offer? Trade Analyzer shows this is an even trade, but I would like your input on this.
Machado and Soto
for
Julio Rodriguez, Jone Abreu and Ryan MountCastle
Sounds fair, I’d take Jul-Rod
Hey Grey –
10 team 5×5 NL only standard roto categories. I am in a very tight battle for saves and looking to speculate on saves ROS. Who do you like between A. Bender and B. Hand (would mostly be bench options with some streaming potential but options are pretty limited!)
Bender
Thank you.
Separate query – Knebel or Hand? Likely neither and both could be dropped?
Knebel
Kinda intrigued with the Very close saves race – what percentage likelihood that PHI goes back to Knebel for saves this season?
No one currently with the Phils is getting more than 7 saves, so maybe Knebel gets 5, Seranthony gets 4, guy who isn’t yet on the team gets 5
Hi Grey! Please rank the following as Devers replacements:
Wilmer Flores, Santiago Espinal, Ramon Urias
I’d go Urias, he been spicy hot recently
Reverse order
10 team OPS weekly H2H:
Give: Tristan Mc, Eloy, and Carpenter
Get: Harper
Based on standings, I’m a lock to finish 1st or 2nd in the regular season and get a 1st round playoff bye.
Don’t love it, could work out
Mitch Keller, outside of those back to back starts aganst the Yanks and Nationals, has been great for his last 10 starts or so. I mean great by his standards. The K/BB during that time kind of supports him.
Even with that I think he’s due to have a couple of ROOFIES before the end of the season. Still pretty impressed that he may have found something. Perhaps it was that change to the sinker?
Yeah, could be, that’s what he’s telling people
IS Ramon Urias having a breakout, and we just aren’t willing to admit it? His statcast is supporting that he’s a great hitter.
It looks like his bat went from a max 15 to a now a 20 homerun hitter.
Meh, seems okay, maybe 17-20 homers, .260…that’s not exactly exciting in most leagues
Would you rather have Ezequiel Duran or JJ Bleday if position eligibility wasn’t a factor? (Obp/SLG league)
I’d try JJ
Morning good sir! Excellent write up! For some odd reason Kimbrel was dropped and cleared waivers. I am pondering a pick but, I would have to drop Springs, Berrios or Kopech. My RP are Diaz, Hendricks and Romano. Is he worth an add? Appears your boy, Renfroe is heating up! 3 jacks in 3 days. Do you prefer him over Laureano or A Gimenez?
Sure, drop Kopech…Yes, over Ramon if you don’t need SBs
just another manic Monday
drop Vinnie for Votto/Rowdy/Voit/Miranda, or give Vinnie more time?
grazie
not Rowdy- he’s not available
Votto
Quick trade question. You listed Schwarber as a sell on Friday and I am being offered Strider and Morel or Hall for Schwarber. League is 12 team 6×6 with QS and OPS as additional cats. Strider $4 and Morel $5/Hall $2. Those two can be kept at those same costs next year. Schwarber is $8 and would be $13 next year. Seems like its not enough but I suppose I am not sure how hard of a sell you are Schwarber for the second half. Thanks.
I’d want more
Grey,
I’m in dire need of a closer.
Would Mikolas and Montas be a massive overpay for Romano ?
Owner is playing it tough…
Not too much
Hey Grey,
Any worry about Red Sox players like Devers and Story taking longer to come back if the Red Sox blow it up ?
Realized you mentioned it under the Devers blurb…
I guess the hope is the Red Sox give it one more go this year
Think they’re done
Hope you had a nice weekend Grey, the final stretch is upon us !
Wondering which side you’d rather be on here,
Verlander and Jeffrey Springs or Montas and Julio Urias ?
Need WHIP and Wins help
Verlander
I have been offered a trade in an auction keeper:
My Strider $10, Bellinger $10, Riley G $1and Kopech $9
For his
Trout $51, Ohtani $9 and Baz $18.
Ohtani and Bellinger all have one year left and the rest have two years left. Trout is full value. Is it worth the injury risk on Trout to get Ohtani who I likely use at SP? Thanks.
Ohtani side
10 team dynasty keep everyone with no penalties.
Would you drop either of these for Tapia or Bleday?
Michael Harris II
Leody Taveras
Nope
Could this be a 2nd straight season of “done” for Trout? Really regretting trading for the now injury-prone Mike Trout ahead of the 2021 season. Also, with Jazz basically done for the season and Story’s return uncertain my team’s hitting has been decimated. At least Buxton’s been healthy. What’s that, PRP injection to the knee and will miss all of this week??? Oh well, on to next season…
Haha
Just saw a blurb that Story is at least swinging a bat now, so perhaps back some time this week.
Ha, fingers crossed! Not his fingers tho
G,
10 team dynasty roto
6×6 with obp and DT
6×6 with QS, holds and saves are sep cats
Drop Walsh for R Urias, Votto, or C Santana to fill a CI slot?
Drop Nelson Cruz for Kwan? Cruz is 42, Kwan is 24…..or do you think Cruz can heat up for ROS?
Thanks
Ramon
Sure, Kwan
12 teams dynasty league
Pick a side : Pena/Sandoval vs Bassitt/D.Baez
Also, I have Acuna, Alvarez, Robert and Greene in the OF. I have 3 NA spots for prospects and have Carroll, F.Alvarez and Kelenic. Should I drop Kelenic to keep R. Contreras ?
Thanks
Jogon
One last thing : Do you think S. Barlow will get traded ?
Yes
Who is D. Baez — are you saying Javier? I’d take Pena side
Yes, keep Roansy
Grey, you still think moving Gore and Flaherty for Bieber in a dynasty is a good idea? Would Montas be a better target? Thanks!
For this year? Gore, Flaherty and Montas are useless…Bieber’s been decent…
No shizz on mlb switching out balls again!!!! All my pitchers got shellaced: Shiney and water resistant.
Ha, yup
Grey
Sad news I traded india and Morton for jazz last Monday on top of that Max Meyer who’ve I held since may injured and I’m assuming droppable (?) my season is tanked
Yordan Alvarez going to get scratched every other day and Berti seems to be out long time – is esteury Ruiz a must add for steals in a 12 team H2H ?
I’d grab Ruiz
The Dads may be sitting Ruiz against righties. Hope that’s not true, I picked him up in a couple of leagues for SBs
