“Hello Sharks! Every Mother’s Day, MLB wheels out there some pink bats. Well, this year I have something for the gentlemen on Father’s Day!” [reveals two rosin bags tied to the knob of a baseball bat, dangling, a quick succession of “I’m out”] “So, you don’t want to see my heated ice cream scooper that doubles as a protective cup in the winter?” [a large man escorts me out] Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers reading! Especially those of you who rostered Cards and Royals yesterday. Well, hitters at least. Not you, Stephen Kolek (1 2/3 IP, 9 ER, ERA at 4.15). This was the worst Royals start since Edinson Volquez on June 24th, 2016, almost exactly ten years ago. Because I’ve been doing this so long I went back to see what I said for him back then, but it was a Friday, so Dan Pants covered it. Pants! He said, “If you started him, my condolences to your ERA and WHIP. In my hometown, which I will not mention here because you will all judge me, there is a seedy hotel called the Edinson Hotel. That’s what I always think of when I think of Volquez, and it’s because of this I’ve never owned him. Thanks, sketchy pay-by-the-hour motel!” Wish I knew about a Kolek Motel. Doing most of the Royals’ damage was Jac Caglianone (2-for-3, 3 runs, 3 RBIs) and his 11th and 12th homer, and three straight games with a homer. Pasketti who?! He’s the Royals’ first baseman who was struggling and is now injured. I know, Random Italicized Voice. Then don’t ask. The Italian Stallianone should be rostered everywhere. Also, Carter Jensen (2-for-3, 3 runs) hit his 10th homer, 2nd homer in four games. Did the Royals move the fences in again this week? Also, Nick Loftin (1-for-4, 2 RBIs) hit his 2nd homer. A Loftin he-be-goin. Then! On the other side! JJ Wetherholt (3-for-5, 3 runs, 3 RBIs) hit his 11th and 12th homer. Jamba Juice keepin’ shizz refreshing! Next up, Ivan Herrera (3-for-5, 3 runs, 3 RBIs) hit his 10th homer. He has a .405 OBP, which is nothing to sneeze at, unless you’re allergic to high OBPs. Finally, Masyn Winn (2-for-5, 4 RBIs) hit his 3rd homer. More like W.B. Masyn. Because he’s all business (supplies) or whatever they have there. Not a sponsor! Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Bobby Witt Jr. – Missed this weekend series, and will be reevaluated on Monday, likely hitting the IL fifteen minutes after your weekly lineups lock. He’s dealing with an MCL sprain. 1150 officially the worst year ever. Baseball was still about 700 years away; the Magna Carta was 65 years away and I wasn’t yet born. What a stupid year! And now, as if that’s not enough Bobby Witt Jr. sprained his. [lighting on fire my expected 50 steals from Bobby Witt Jr., accidentally burning the 15 more homers I was planning on and blowing on them real fast to try to put out the fire, but the oxygen causes them to go up even faster] Great! Everything’s great!
Dustin May – 2 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 4.30. Yesterday was a bad day to quit sniffing glue.
Michael Soroka – Hit the IL after an MRI on his left glute. In layman’s terms, that’s the butt. He had butt problems. Walking into the doctor’s office, saying to the receptionist, “Here for butt stuff.” He was one of my more reliable starters in some leagues, and I think that’s a compliment for him.
Jordan Lawlar – Hit the IL with a hamstring strain. Ya know what his tendons would be so good for? Selling some Port St. Lucie real estate with Alex Kirilloff!
Zac Gallen – 4 IP, 9 ER, ERA at 6.10. He struggled to get a deal this past winter, but ended up signing back with the DBacks for a one-year deal, but this year he’s hoping for a long-term deal in Korea.
Jose Cabrera – 5 IP, 0 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 3 Ks, as he was called up. Jose Cabrera sounds like a hitter. Lonathan Kabrera? Pitcher. Jose Cabrera? Hitter. Do I need to go to Latin America and name people? So, Cabrera had 9.4 K/9, 2.4 BB/9, 3.69 ERA in 61 IP in Triple-A, and looks barely NL-Only worthy. Now Lonathan Kabrera? He’s good.
Taj Bradley – 5 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.11. Taj Mah-passable-kinda-meh-starter.
Mike Paredes – 5 IP, 2 ER, 9 baserunners, 1 K, ERA at 4.05. Yesterday’s Paredes/Cabrera matchup was some real, “Who now?” Paredes is another “Prolly shouldn’t be in the majors, how desperate are these teams?” and barely AL-Only.
Nathan Eovaldi – 6 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 4.24, after being scratched with knee soreness on Saturday. Captain EO is ei, ei, ei oh no he’s injured once every two weeks.
MacKenzie Gore – 6 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.07. Moved up his start because of Eovaldi, and pitched well. Might want to consider moving him up every time out until he’s pitching on zero days rest. Gore says, “Bring me Thanos and less rest!”
Jack Leiter – Hit the Ineffective List with “You are doo-doo.”
Wyatt Langford – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer, 3rd homer in four games. I don’t usually give you Sells who are currently hot because it makes me look stupid, but I can make myself look stupid and I purposely did with Wyatt and Merrill because it’s the first time they have any value to trade them.
Walker Buehler – 5 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.96. It’s not a total mirage either, he’s pitching well — 8.1 K/9, 2.9 BB/9, 3.60 xFIP, ground balls way up (not literally), and home runs down, but unlucky on LOB%, which balances things. I don’t trust him fully; I’d trade him if I were the Padres, and Streamonator would be the last call on whether to start him still.
Paul Skenes – 6 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 2.86 vs Tomoyuki Sugano – 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 hits, zero walks, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.31. Nothing really to say, except Sugano out-pitched Skenes in Coors, as everyone assumed.
Jared Jones – 3 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 5.75, and left after taking a comebacker off his arm. Seems okay, but there’s a reason why doctors don’t usually just watch a replay from 2,000 miles away.
Bryan Reynolds – 2-for-5, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 11th homer, hitting .287. They don’t call him Mr. Excitement Bryan Reynolds for nothing.
Kyle Harrison – 6 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 4 hits, zero walks, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.50. I am forever amazed at how good the Brewers are at this.
Robert Gasser – 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 4.50. His numbers are moving towards rosterable in deeper mixed leagues, but still borderline monocle. If your league is aggressive, maybe you stash him now. No, that doesn’t mean pull up his picture and draw a mustache on your computer screen where his upper lip is and now how are you cleaning that off your screen?
William Contreras – 4-for-5, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 7th homer. Contreras Brother Update Time! Checking Player Rater to see which brother is higher and it’s. Dot dot dot. William! Barely.
Chris Sale – 5 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.14. Watching Scherzer go to the IL this week with Old, it reminded me to enjoy Sale while he’s still Sale and not Stale.
Bryce Elder – 6 IP, 8 ER, ERA at 3.71. Yesterday was a good day to accidentally bench all your starters. It was also a good day to weed out the good from the bad starters, and start cutting guys.
Logan Webb – 8 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.35.
Logan Webb is the first Giants pitcher to go 8+ innings in three consecutive starts since Madison Bumgarner in June 2015
Last in 4 straight: 2010 Matt Cain
— Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) June 21, 2026
Kyle Stowers – 1-for-2, 2 runs and his 8th homer, third homer in four games. Just gave you my Kyle Stowers fantasy. Was written after taking HGH.
Emmet Sheehan – 3 1/3 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 5.32. I can’t tell you how excited I was for him this year. Total zero. Hate him.
Adley Rutschman – Hit the 7-day concussion IL. Orioles tested him by asking who he was and he said former top prospect, Adley Rutschman, and they were like, “Give him a week to sleep it off.”
Trevor Rogers – 7 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 2 walks, 6 Ks, ERA at 5.30. Starts don’t get more impressive than that. In Uquagmire Field at Dodger Stadium, putting on a clinic. That’s the kind of start that if he were dropped, I’d grab him again immediately. Rogers is capable of a three-month run being one of the best starters in the game.
Taylor Ward – 2-for-4, 3 runs and his 4th homer, hitting .255. Crazy how obvious it is that he’s hurt and no one is saying anything. Bunch a freakin’ liars and cover-uppers!
Colton Cowser – 3-for-5, 4 RBIs and his 8th homer, hitting .238. I had this slightly stupid idea the O’s didn’t hit many homers, so I went to look at the team stats, and O’s are around middle of pack for homers. Red Sox and Rays are pathetic.
Pete Alonso – 2-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 18th homer. Albombso!
Brandon Young – 5 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.07. Goodbye, Kolek. Hello, Young!
Blaze Alexander – 3-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 3rd homer, hitting .312, and hitting near-.400 in June. As they said in the caves back in the day, Blaze is fire.
Emerson Hancock – 5 1/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.60. So long! Farewell! Alf wiedersehen! It’s time to say goodbye. We had a good run, but I’d look elsewhere. Remember, you’re defeating the purpose if you picked up a guy and got a good two months out of him then you held too long. Also, it’s something most people forget at the end of the year. Frankenstein’ing a starter out of multiple guys works. No one is impressed by your Hancock/new arm hybrid Frankencock, but it’s cool if it’s usable, and I can barely see the stitches!
Logan Gilbert – 6 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 3.29. So, are they not piggybacking their starters? I’m so confused. Did they just say that to appease Luis Castillo?
Dominic Canzone – Hit his 12th homer, and left with a hamstring strain. He should’ve been hitting cleanup every single day. Instead, the M’s were committed to vets who suck, and now he’s hurt! Blame Indonesian butterflies!
Freddy Peralta – 2 2/3 IP, 10 ER, ERA at 4.83. Peralta was like, “If I show the Phillies how good they can be when I’m on the mound, then maybe they’ll trade for him.” Bro, this is an insane start. I don’t even know what you do with that. I told people to not draft him, and hated him coming into this year. He was so clearly coming off a career year and leaving the best pitching factory in Milwaukee to go to one that fired their one good pitching coach. Seems harsh to just drop him, but I wouldn’t be starting him.
Carson Benge – 1-for-3, 2 runs and his 9th homer, hitting .257. Wonder how long until the Mets’ mess seeps into his pores and ruins him. Half season? Full season?
Bryce Harper – 3-for-4 and his 17th homer, and hit for the cycle on Saturday (in the 1st five innings). Mets are helping guys do stuff previously unimaginable. Mets are like the anti-Knicks. Jumble the Knicks’ players names and you have Mets players. Everyone wants to GO and Balen on the team.
Kyle Schwarber – 1-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 29th homer, and three homers on Saturday. June [handshake emoji] Schwarber [handshake emoji] Mets being awful = His Saturday.
Walbert Urena – 5 IP, 0 ER, 4 hits, zero walks, 6 Ks, ERA at 2.41. The Bert gets the A’s again next time, only this time at home, and that feels like such a trap. Like a pot of honey on the ground with a bowl of Greek yogurt and berries and a sign that says, “Add honey, it makes it soooooooo delicious,” and a hidden net under it all.
Reid Detmers – 6 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.93Sadly, he couldn’t pull off The Bert in SacTown.
Donovan Walton – 1-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 3rd homer. He was a schmotato last week, and he’s keeping that fire emoji burning.
Denzer Guzman – 2-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 3rd homer, and three homers in three games. Okay, schmotato, sure, but the Angels were in Bing Bong, so we’ll see on them going forward.
Nick Kurtz – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 19th homer, hitting .290. There were people doubting whether to draft him in the top 20. He’s like the only top 20 player (hitter or pitcher) not named Ohtani, who is healthy and performing.
Joey Cantillo – 8 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 4.05 vs. Spencer Arrighetti – 6 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 3.13. Cleveland Starting Pitcher Factory in the old, uh, The Old Spaghetti Factory vs. Sp. Arrighetti, and what’s old is new again. Also, these two guys were crossing positive and negative regression streams in Ghostbuster if Who Ya Gonna Call was the Streamonator.
Slade Cecconi – 6 IP, 2 ER, 8 baserunners, 1 K, ERA at 4.48 vs. Kai-Wei Teng – 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.03. They’re almost identical in underlying stats; Slade has less Ks. I mean their stats, not their names. Less Ks name-wise gives you Cai-Wei’s, a Korean remake of I don’t want no more f***ing Merlot!
Yordan Alvarez – 1-for-2, 2 runs and his AL-leading 25th homer, hitting .322. Can Captain Woo Cubano get the Triple Crown this year? Yes, because I have him nowhere, after having him everywhere last year.
Troy Melton – 6 IP, 1 ER, 1 hit, 3 walks, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.56. Troy Melton’s out here putting up number two fantasy numbers just off waivers like en bee dee.
Keider Montero – 7 IP, 3 ER, 6 hits, zero walks, 3 Ks, ERA at 3.68 and in the rotation for the foreseeable future because Justin Verlander is injured, but it’s not clear how long because Verlander is also refusing to retire and spend time with Kate Upton. Weird guy! Montero’s underlying numbers are pretty meh, but worth a monocle.
Dillon Dingler – 2-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 18th homer, 2nd homer in two games. Hoping one day you can understand the glory, the pure exhilaration from Dingler and a hanger.
Davis Martin – 6 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.18. Started him because of a two-start week, and thankfully. I needed that BOGO.
Seranthony Dominguez – 1 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 3.86, and his 4th blown save. Shite Sux better trade him at the deadline, otherwise I don’t know why they haven’t turned to Hudson or Taylor full-time.
Ian Seymour – 5 IP, 3 ER, 7 hits, zero walks, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.98. Rays wiggle their nose and their middle relievers are suddenly starters. I stream of Jeannie. Or maybe Ian of Jeannie. Or maybe neither. Also an option! I. Seymour of him, the more I like. Right now he’s iffy, but he was perennially a 2.30-ish ERA pitcher in Triple-A. Too early for most mixed leagues, but I’d monocle. He could be [wiggles nose] usable.
Nick Martinez – 6 IP, 3 ER, 7 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.73. After yesterday’s shellackings of Elder, Kolek and others, I am so scurrrrred of Martinez. He’s an Nick-Ma.
Ryan Vilade – 1-for-4 and his 5th homer, and his 2nd homer in four games, hitting .287. Also, in this game, Jonny DeLuca (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) hit his 4th homer, and his 2nd homer in three games. Combining them because this post is going on 4,000 words. I’m effin’ Tolstoy of fantasy baseball.
CJ Abrams – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 17th homer, hitting .286. Corange Juice hitting 30 homers this year might go a long way to him being a top ten pick next year.
Daniel Palencia – Dealing with a minor flexor strain. I’m debating dropping him in a league with no IL slots. I’m debating myself and I’m losing. Mean’s while, Jacob Webb went 2/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 3.90 on Saturday. Luckily (is it lucky?), Thielbar gave up two earned on Saturday too. I don’t know what this means for their pen, prolly nothing. It’s a closerfudge of epic proportions.
Will Warren – 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 10 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 3.45. But there were four unearned runs for the heart-stopping box scare!
Austin Wells – 0-for-2 as he was activated from the IL. Everyone in the clubhouse greeted this news with a mixture of enthusiasm and anguish because they could use his bat in the lineup, but with Wells comes his burrito farts.
Ben Rice – 2-for-3 and his 22nd homer, 2nd homer in three games. Rice-a-HRoni!
Tyler Stephenson – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer. More importantly, he also apparently needs a cut-off man to throw to 2nd because the Yankees were stealing at will. Cody Bellinger (1-for-3) stole two (9, 10); Jasson Domiguez (1-for-4) stole two (2, 3) and Jazz Chisholm Jr. (1-for-4) stole two (22, 23).
Chase Burns – 5 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.00. “Sleep with one eye open.” That’s the Regression Fairies.
Andrew Abbott – 5 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.83. One of my biggest regrets was dropping Abbott after his awful April. Well, after drafting Tatis, Vlad Jr., not drafting Yordan, Jordan Walker and, yeah, there’s a whole host of regrets!
Frankencock !!!??? gonna have to put parental advisory on your posts.
1. Redraft, 10 team: Please rank Moniak, O’Hearn, L. Garcia
2. Redraft, 12 team: drop 1st, Perdomo or M. Garcia?
3. Same league: drop any for Moniak: Mead, E. Suarez, O’Hearn, Adell?
Thanks.
Dylan Crews batting 3rd tonight in that solid lineup intrigue’s me.
Hi Grey,
In an OBP league, and currently have Rice, Goodman and Herrera as catcher options.
Would you trade for Herrera for Hunter Greene? Or would you trade Eldridge for Hunter Greene?
Thanks

K. Teel came off IL today
Who do I Drop?
I also have
IL Rooker
IL Arozarena who is set to come off IL this week
Which side – Soda or Gavin Williams?
I think I would want more for Soda.
Soder
Start Eldridge or Carrigg this week in a weekly standard roto?
Bryce
You like Okamoto or Eugenio ROS in 5×5 obp roto
Okamoto
Eugenio or Royce Lewis
Eugenio
Do you like Teel or Basallo for OBP h2h. Lame catcher question.
Trek
lol that’s Teel
haha thanks
No problem
In a 10-team roto I have L.Varland, Seward, Seranthony, and Pagan (IL) as relievers. Someone offered me Alcantara for my Varland and obv that’s a no. But would you move Varland if you could get H.Brown or Cease in return? I could use a boost in ERA and Ks.
I’df take Brown or Cease, that order
You like Rogers over Nick Martinez ROS?
Yes
Hi Great – great weekend roundup!
In a keep forever. Would you deal my Sal
stewart for Harper and Cam Schlittler or hold?
Thanks!
LG
Yes
Witt out but hit cages, fielded grounders and ran bases before game. Would you start to sit in weekly lineup lock. I’d move wetherholt to SS, Gelof to 2b, Lile or Bauers to Util if Witt out. If Wittn, then Gelof Util
I’d start Witt
@Grey: weekly roto redraft. teel back in batting 3rd today. you like him more than moreno?
Yes
OBP OPS league playing to win this year – would you trade:
Mcgongile (393 obp, 882 ops) (keepable for $16)
J Dominguez (keepable for $5)
To get
Matt Olson (343 obp, also 882ops, obviously better HR and RBI) (too expensive to keep)
Hold
Just kind of an odd/interesting note. Today breaks the streak of the Orioles facing 17 Right handed starters in a row
Oh wow
Finally O’Neill gets his shot as the Orioles $16 million lefty killer.
Haha
And he’ll check a swing and head to the IL.
Hey Grey, 12 team, H2H, 7×7..Any of these a P/U over Cavalli? – Pallante, Taj, Cameron, Assad, Cecconi, Jack Leiter, Kay
I’d look at matchups
are you holding Sheehan in
redraft points leagues? His SIERRA and K/BB still look healthy.
And would you rather IL Snell til his post AS break return…or add Lugo/Melton/Roupp?
No…Melton

IL Cruz, J-Ram
SP Cease, Gaus, Messick, Gray, Brown, Tolle, Jones, Milbrandt
Would you take The Mis for Julio or hold? I’m in 3rd overall. Struggling with W and K.
Works for me
I fully expected you to say hold Julio instead.
Let me put it this way – would you make that deal for Mis?
I have some reservations about IP limitations on him in 2nd half or his arm flying off at 104 mph.
Miz = Julio — it’s fair — top 3 pitcher in baseball for a top ten hitter
I’m in a weekly,12-team (fairly deep. 396 players with lots of active guys). I typically keep 1 bench bat & a few extra SPs (that I may roster if they have a potential projected good start). Or should I keep a 2nd bench bat like Busch?
SP
Yes
Bradish is coming off a dream performance and has a juicy match up in Anaheim against a depleted Halos lineup. Do you trust him for this, or is he in the not falling for it again/Taj Bradley caste?
I trust him
Thanks. I’ve been in a real tailspin pitching-wise in what should be my easiest league in that department. Has me questioning my process.
I hear ya
I’m probably just going to copy paste that question, but change the name and matchup, for the next couple days.
Haha
Not sure what to do with this stat (maybe another Brandon Young appreciation post), but found it interesting that, when sorting by quality starts over the last 30 days, only 7 of the top 30 SPs for QS on my 12 team league’s wire have an ERA below 5.00!
Speaking of terrible ratios, which of our preseason loves do you have more faith in ROS – Sheehan or Lodolo? Holding both right now but will have to drop a SP when Greene eventually returns (and I can’t quit Young haha!)
Ha, Young man, don’t need to be rude, I say, Young, man
Lodolo
Haha!
Thanks.
PS nasim had the most insane AVG week I’ve seen in a while. Hit .647 across 20 PA with and .688 babip!
Haha, I know, I think he was on my bench
Me too, I benched him for….lawlaar of all people!
HA, I think mine was Ed. Julien
I dropped him 2 days before his hot streak in h2h league :(
Haha ouch
Hi Grey,
A) Who to drop once EDLC returns?
Blaze, Clemens, Carrigg, Canzone, Horwitz
B) Would you be looking to trade Tucker for whatever you can get at this point or will he heat up as summer rolls along? His recent statcast data doesn’t look like there’s much improvement on the horizon.
Also on B – If I were to consider trading Tucker for a pitcher, which order would you pursue the following (if at all): Cease, Sale, Bryce Miller, Meyer, Rodon, Schlittler, Burns (not sure I can even get close to those last two guys)
For reference, 12 team points league
You’re not getting most of these guys, I’d think…Burns, Cam, Sale, Miller, Cease, Rodon
Yah, that’s what I think too. Do you believe in Tucker to turn it around. Comical to see him hitting 7th.
I would think so
Is Canzone injured? Him
B. Sure
If Canzone actually ends up being alright, who’s the other one to drop? Canzone said, “I’m good,” after the game, so hoping it’s the slightest of tweaks. Don’t really believe him of course.
Blaze
Couple questions for you, Grey.
Who to drop to activate Elly? Hoerner, Meidroth, O’Hearn
Is May an instant drop after such an abysmal performance? Or are you giving him one more shot? Looks like next matchup is home against Miami.
Nico
I’d hold May for one more
Should I roster Helsley today or wait a week, thank you
Wait a week
@Grey: weekly roto redraft. bauers for gore seem fair?
Yes fair
Christian Scott OR Payton Tolle – KEEPER LEAGUE which one sir – thanks Grey
Tolle
Having watched just about every Cub game this year, I would NOT pick up Webb. At best he is a 7th/8th inning guy. Cub pitching injuries are just amazing.
Gotcha
2-start SPs for this week include:
SonnyG @COL (-18) and vNYY (21)
RobbieRay vATH (10) and vATL (15)
Lodolo vMIL (13) and @MIL (15)
Jump @SF (SON $2.7) and vLAD (-1.2)
Manaea vCHC (3.5) and @TOR (-22)
Assad @NYM and vSD
TY!
They all sound kinda terrible…I don’t disagree with SON except I would not start Lodolo and would start Jump
Grey
5×5 scoring… ROS… who you got?

J.Jung or N.Marte
N.Nunez or S.Taylor
E.Alvarado or Y.Gomez

Do you prefer Beeter or Kilian in a saves only league?
Kilian
(1) Kody Clemons; Jake McCarthy; or Bolte?
(2) Santillion is doing well.
a. When Pagan ready to return, Pagan or Santillion?
b. Or more likely, both get traded and thus “neither”
1. clemens 2. Pagan
Trevor Rogers, Sheehan, sasaki, or bibee. Who do you like best ros? Qs league. Thanks
Rogers
So would you rather cut sheehan or sasaki?
Sheehan
hey, in a dynasty, would you trade chase burns for caglianone? thanks!
Nah
What order in a standard roto ROS –
CJ, Witt, Julio
Julio, CJ
Witt Jr or Julio ROS
Julio
How long do you think palencia is out for?
Flexor strain? Likely 2 months, at least
Sheehan man it’s been so bad. I held so long. I keep saying it will get better. I thought yesterday was it, but he gets the padres next 2x. I know how this will probably go and I still havent dropped him. What’s wrong with me?
He should be so much better, but they’re unable to fix him
Very strange, especially when his FB velo looks ok…
Yeah
Hey Grey!
1) Who’s the 12 team redraft drop out of Steer, McLain, Emerson? (I’m thinking Colt.)
2) How you ranking Boyd (upon return), Melton, Warren, Ray for ROS?
1. Colt 2. Boyd, Melton, Warren
Did a Grey bit when I read Eury Perez may be coming back this week, four weeks ahead of his eight week timeline. Ohhhh….walks across the entire planet…kayyyyy.
HAHA
Grey,
Who do you like this week as pickup? Streamnator Roto likes below from what avail on my waiver. Eury Perez may be back this week, but I don’t want to start him.
Pallante vs Ari and Mia
Kay – Cle and KC
Baz – @LAA
Weathers – @Det
Melton – Hou
Pallante
Does Waldschmidt come back since Lawler is IL?
Yeah, maybe
Hey Grey, can you rank these SPs for me in a vacuum? Trevor Rogers, Jax, Melton, Sheehan
Rogers, Melton, Jax
🎵 “To yu and yu and yu …”
Sheehan steps forward, turns right, exits the stage [under the disappointed glare of Baron Von Trapp] 😞
HAHA
12 team, 5×5 roto
Do you prefer Beeter or Kilian in a saves only league?
Start and lock Witt for the week or go with any one of several safer options like Bohm, Parades, Nick G? My hard luck- degenerate loser vibe watches Witt get IL’d 5 minutes after lineups lock.
Thinking of sitting Vlad for any of Mead, Burger or Parades
As an aside, Vlad doesn’t have one HR at home all year. Talk about your quintessential hard luck degenerate loser.
Worst pick ever
I’d wait a few hours to see if he’s playing…I doubt he is, and Bohm
My sentiments exactly. I’m able to slide Monty to SS and go with Bohm at 3B.
Gotcha
Would you start Weathers at Detroit or Tolle vs. Yankees?
Hmm, tough call, I’d go Tolle
How sad it’s come to this. Which injured closer is worth hanging onto? Palencia or Diaz?
Lose Palencia
Morning G,
Considering dropping Maikel in my 12 teamer for Blaze Alexander… you think he is the real deal or more hot schmotato?
Thanks!
-IANASM
I’d try Blaze, it’s a schmotato tho
Hey Grey,
-Would you drop E. Cabrera and/or S. Dominquez for Manea, Buehler, and/or Lauer?
-What are your thoughts about Maikel Garcia for the ROS? Was excited about him coming into the season…recently became available and wondering if a strong second half seems possible/likely.
Thanks!
EdCab for Walker seems fine — Maikel could have a nice 2nd half, but he’s also droppable and I’d wait to see something before picking him up
Hey Grey
Happy weekends!
I know its maybe a question for Itch, but in a keeper/dynasty league (not sure of the difference tbh)
i have made..thinking about offering him for burns/cags
i have a good chance of winning this year, but made is a big part of my future which on my team is going to need to happen soon.
follow up question, what is mades potential? 20hr/40sb? If hes a 30hr guy, i dont think i can trade him.
Thanks!
oh, btw did you see obsession this weekend? thoughts?
I saw Backrooms….I thought I was seeing Obession but Cougs bought Backrooms tix lol, which was fine
i actually want to see that one too! but still go see obsession
Plan is to try to see it this Sunday
I wouldn’t trade away Made — he’s Acuna
thanks! i know hes number #1 prospect, but not all the 1s are ‘made’ equal. Nice to see hes got the potential to maybe play 100 games in a season every so often!
HAHA
Grey,
Was offered Elly for my Julio and Maikel. Which side do you like in a 10-team standard roto?
I would move Schmitt to OF if I took it.
My roster:
C Rice, Hicks
1B Alonso
2B Schmitt
3B Muncy – LAD
SS Otto
CI Contreras
MI Pratt
OF Julio, Belli, O’Hearn, Soda, Hap
U Eldridge
Bench B. Monty, Carrigg, Maikel
IL J-Ram, Cruz
Elly side
What does everyone think about the thing Devers did?
99% of players are total ding dongs
guy is a cancer, doesnt care about winning. Crazy move to pull off when your team sucks and trying to win and hes done nothing to help with that.
He looks funny too. Just looks off.
Shit are the Rockies worse? I need to go check. We have new people so maybe they’ll fix it.
I am glad to see someone not just go along with things. SO many players just “do the right thing”, do not show emotion, etc. He was pissed and he showed it. If he was hitting better he would not be getting any sh!t for it.
Yeah, plus Vitello sucks and has lost all control over the team
So right! Vitello looks and acts lost.
Yup
Who’s my 3B this week , 12T Points
Jung 7 @ MIA @ Tor
Parades 7 @ Tor @ Det
Zeke 7 @ Mia @ Tor
Jung
Bauers or Caglianone?
Cag
who do you start nick martinez at home against arizona or melton at home against astros thx
Melton
16 team keeper league, keep 5. yahoo, roto, 5×5.
should I give up Michael Busch and get Sonny Gray? or should I want more for Busch?
I have Eldridge now at 1B and other options for IN/UT.
I’d take Gray
How would you rank Imai, Manaea and Cantillo?
Thanks!
Cant, Imai
Hey Grey,
Easy one of sorts, but not so much for me thats why Im asking.
Kyle Teel or Hunter Goodman.
20 team h2h cat dynasty.
Thank you.
Goodman
Thank you, sir!
No problem
Melton over Hancock?
Yes
Caleb Durbin seemed to have awoken.
Buying?
Sure
Jensen or Teel
Drop May for Cantillo
Teel
Sure, based on matchups
Bench bat. Drop Mead for any of Durbin, Willi, Edman, Peraza, Dubon or Kody Clemens?
Weak link (1B) Drop any of Busch, Steer, Mead for either Bohm or Burger?
None of these moves do anything for me
Sir Anthony got 2 quick outs and then a grounder to short that their ss slowplayed. guy beat the weakass throw by an eyelash. then two groundball singles. Bitter I am.
I hear ya
Hi Again Grey,
Wondering if you would start Noelvi Marte (6, MIL, @PIT) over any of these guys?
M. Garcia (7, @TB, @CHW)
C. Mead (7, PHI, @BAL)
J. Bauers (6, CHC, @CIN)
Nah
Drop Sheehan and/or Hancock for Cantillo and/or Trevor Rogers/
Sheehan for Rogers
Bellinger or Cags + Soroka and Wrobleski?
Cody
What’s up Grey?
Are you starting Lindor this week (7, CHC, PHI) over either Volpe (7, @DET, @BOS) or Swanson (7, @NYM, @MIL)?
Thanks!
Sure, over Swanson
Don’t know if this affects your decision, but earliest Lindor will return is Wednesday -> 5 games, not 7.
Would you start Kyle Teel (6, CLE, KC) this week over either Pedro Pages (7, ARI, MIA) or Austin Wells (7, @DET, @BOS)?
Over Pages
Hey Grey,
Couldn’t agree more on Sheehan, but I’ve got some problems setting my SP starters this week, and it’s not overly pretty. Which two of these guys would you start this week?
Sheehan (@SD)
J. Jones (CIN)
EdCab (@NYM, @MIL)
Cantillo (SEA)
R. Vasquez (ATL)
Cantillo, Randy
Buying into the Caleb Durbin surge? Esp in COL this week, worth grabbing for now and beyond?
I don’t know about beyond Coors, but sure for this week
yes! but with blind optimism as opposed to reasonable reasoning
ESPN Points, This week only, please rank
Michael King Vs Atl, Vs LAD (2 starts)
Yesavage Vs Hou, Vs Tex (2 starts)
Early Vs NYY
Manaea Vs ChiC
Thanks
Trey Y, King
H2H cats league. i just traded cody bellinger and payton tolle for jacob degrom and jose altuve. desperately needed pitching help. but im not too high on altuve.
pretty shallow league so good waiver options available. would you take jac caglianone, jake bauers, carson benge, or zack gelof over altuve?
Jac Cag
actually, Gelof, I saw him after I said Jac Cag
Hey Grey! In my weekly roto there are a lot of points to gain/lose on Wins, K, and pitching ratios. I’ve been rolling my 9 P weekly lineup with 3 RPs – Chapman [3 @COL, 4vNYY], Megill [3vCHC, 3@CIN], and Baker (3 v KC, 4 v ARZ).
Thinking of benching a RP to roll with 7 SP. Would you sit any of those RPs to start Taj v. COL or Warren @ BOS?
Here’s the current 6 SP I’m currently starting:
Skenes
Gaus (vTEX)
Griffin (vPHI, @BAL)
Luzardo (@WSH, @NYM)
Eovaldi (@TOR)
Pallante (v ARZ, v MIA) (hoping the pixie dust gets me through the week)
Taj over Megill
Just upgraded to daily SON subscription and it had the same idea! Thanks.
Nice!
12 team roto with OBP and QS. Need another bat with HR upside. Drop Griffin Jax for Matt Shaw? My staff is deGrom, Hunter Brown, Jesus Luzardo, Sonny Gray, MacKenzie Gore, Gage Jump, Roki Saki, Jared Jones, and Eury Perez.
Yeah, go for it
H2H pts league. We start 6 pitchers. I have 5 locked in. My offense is not good, and the guy i play hits if that has any bearing on this. Please pick which you like the best out of King 2 (ATL, LAD). Griffin 2 (PHI,@ Balt) could rain on that game tonight. D.Martin vs KC, Detmers v A’s. Manaea v Cubs. Thank you in advance.
Detmers
Would you drop Mad Max for Trever Rogers at this point or wait. Thanks
Who? Max Meyer? Max Scherzer?
Max Meyer
I’d hold Meyer
The first of Seattle’s ‘new’ piggyback outings was Friday, with Miller starting (5 IP, 1 ER) and Castillo relieving (4 IP, 4 ER). Hancock started Saturday, and Gilbert Sunday.
I have not seen that Seattle has announced the next piggyback outing. Currently ESPN is showing: (off today) Tu Kirby, W Woo, Th Miller
I think they’re supposed to be doing it like once a week or something……. Weirdos.
I don’t don’t remember but Dipotto was on Rates and Barrels Saturday and said something like that.
Oh, they’re only doing it with Miller and Castillo as they’ve been doing it? Why did they announce they’re piggybacking everyone?
I think they’re doing it with everyone once a week.
Oh, that’s a lot less than I thought
Lol, that’s stupid what I said. The guy running the team said it on Saturday. Rates and Barrels. I’m confused as well but I don’t care lol. I don’t have any of those guys.
If it makes you feel better I dropped Jordan Walker at $1 to pick up the mighty Brandon Sproat on day 1. In a dynasty keeper league. I am in 5th place and mid pack in most batting cats. woof.
Ouch
12 team, 5×5 roto
Nico Hoerner or Xavier Edwards?
Edwards
Edwards
Bauers or Royce ROS points? Also are you starting Witt and Jones (PIT) in weekly lineup lock leagues? SON liked Jones weekend start against CIN. It would suck to get zeros.
Bauers
Not starting Jones, but maybe on Witt, I’d wait to closer to game time
Soderstrom or Caglione ROS ?
Soder
12-team, 5×5 categories, 6 keepers. I have Tucker, Wood, Anthony, Harris, and Griffin with OF eligibility. Thinking Tucker is the one to move, desperately need 2B or C. Thoughts on these targets: S. Stewart, Wetherholt, Langeliers, Otto?
They work for me — Langeliers, JJ, Sal, that order
hi Grey,
Good morning and hope you had a nice weekend.
Do you like more Chase Meidroth or Nick Gonzales?
Also, trying to buy with next year’s picks Webb and Rasmussen.
IF i can only get one, which do you prefer?
Also, time to move on from Lodolo?
thanks for the input.
Regadrs,
Chris
Chase M.
Webb
Yes, lose Lodolo
Couple of questions for the coming week:
1) Start Woodruff right away? Or wait to see how he looks his first time out?
2) Elly’s Back! (No question.)
3) Can you rank the top FOUR from the following hitters:
Busch, Stowers, Varsho, Carrigg, SamAntonacci, NoelviM
4) For saves, please rank: Alvarado, Gomez, Lange. Usage this weekend wasn’t optimal.
TY!
Not in your rundown, for good reason, but is Eugenio Suarez cooked?
In a 16 team h2h points, worth dropping for Blaze Alexander, or similar type player when they are hot?
Thanks!
Meh, I’d hold hope
Do I dump Duran for Stowers, Springer, or Dominguez?
Ezequiel? Stowers
No Jarren
Stowers if you don’t need SBs
GM Grey, 12 teamer, 7×7. Which WW 2B would you p/u…Keaschall or Colt Keith?ty
Keith
Dingler or Langliers?
Mead or Busch?
Steer or Pages?
Langeliers — Mead — Pages
I’d trade Sheehan for a VHS copy of Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas, and I don’t even have a VCR.
Classic! “Look at the birds in the trees!”
HAHA
Haha! The River Bottom Nightmare Band!
Grey, Vlad (4 vs Hou, 3 vs TX) or Royce Lewis (3 vs LAD, 3 vs COL)?
Could also sit J Naylor (3 @ Pit, 3 @ Cle)
Meh
Vlad
So play Vlad/Naylor and sit Lewis, correct?
If Vlad is in there, and not sitting due to his back or side or whatever is ailing him
(1) Pagan (apparently close to return); Santillion (now doing OK) or Palencia.
Which one, of any, ROS?
(2) Cowser or Taylor Ward?
Palencia is a drop 2. Cowser
I was listening to the Brewers game in the car and the announcers told a story that when Gasser was a kid Vin Diesel used to go to Gasser’s Little League games because he was close friends with Gasser’s dad. And that was it. They never mentioned how funny it was that a guy named Gasser was close friends with a guy named Diesel. Seems like they could have gone the whole inning riffing on that.
That’s pretty funny.
That’s hilarious
How do you pronounce “HRoni” in “Rice-a-HRoni?” Is it “H-R-oni”, or is it “Haroney”? Seems like it should be the latter. I really need to know this so that the little voice in my head that speaks to me the words in your column when I read them knows what to say.
I have the same issue but realized that at some point I read it in a very Japanese sounding accent, strongly accenting the H, and sliding right into the roni. Problem is that now I can’t unhear it in my head.
I think it’s the Haroney one.
Haroney
The little voice in my head thanks you.
No problem
Gallen will get traded to the Brewers and win a Cy Young!
HAHA, become CC after he went there
Rogers and Cantillo landed next to each other on the 100 Best Fantasy Starts list. No one else earned a spot on the weekend. Cleveland now has 6 appearances in the top 100; Baltimore 2:
10 Gavin Williams May 22 @PHI
36 Gavin Williams Apr 29 vs TB
44 Gavin Williams Apr 18 vs BAL
49 Gavin Williams Apr 1 @LAD
58 Trevor Rogers Jun 20 @LAD
59 Joey Cantillo Jun 20 @HOU
67 Parker Messick Apr 16 vs BAL
70 Kyle Bradish Jun 17 @SEA
Kolek had the 11th worst start of the year, but he had lots of company down at the bottom:
2122 Bryce Elder
2178 Cade Cavalli
2224 Emmet Sheehan
2260 Dustin May
2278 Zac Gallen
2294 Freddy Peralta
2304 Stephen Kolek
Awesome, Vin! Thanks!
