Chase Burns will be called up for Tuesday. Mr. Burns if you’re nasty or Smithers. Chase if you’re patio furniture or on the show Cops. CB if you’re a terrible ump with the last name Bucknor. Cha-Bu if you’re ordering something in a Korean restaurant and mispronouncing it. He is coming. The 2nd overall pick in the 2024 draft. [starts screaming and creaming] Like an Amish person making butter, you sicko! What did you think I meant? So, imagine Jacob Misiorowski, four inches shorter and five times better command. Does that excite you? It should. Itch had him as his number one guys in his last prospect stash list, and said previously, “Burns set a new single-season NCAA record with 191 strikeouts in 100 innings for Wake Forest. That’s the kind of math I can get behind. Seems like he’s striking out about two guys per innings, which seems like a good plan. His slider just isn’t something college hitters are used to seeing. Isn’t something any hitter is used to seeing, really. Plays like an 80 when he’s commanding it, which he usually is. Usually commands his 100 mph fastball well, too, and while he’s got a little Kirby in him in the sense that people hit his fastball more than makes obvious sense, he’s not doomed to that fate, given his incredible athleticism and clear growth arc across time. Here’s to him coming up and me beating up Grey, whichever happens first.” Jesus, what? In the minors this year, he went 12.1 K/9, 1.8 BB/9, 1.77 ERA in 66 IP. Honestly, what more is there to say about him? He might be the last great call-up this year. As former Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani sang, “Burns, baby, Burns, I’m Disco inferno!” Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Andrew Abbott – 7 IP, 1 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 3 Ks, ERA at 1.79. Starting the All-Star Game for the NL will be…Paul Skenes, but Abbott will follow him.
Matt McLain – 1-for-4 and his 9th homer, as he was moved up to the two-hole, hitting near-.300 in June and I’m ready to do a Buy, big B. That’s different than, “Bye Big B,” which sounds like I’m pouring malt liquor on a grave.
Jake Burger – Hit the IL with an oblique strain. To quote a vegetarian, “Damn, Burger, you ain’t right.”
Jack Leiter – 4 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 4.55. Imagine a finish line labeled, “A quality MLB pitcher,” and Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker are at the starting line. Gun goes off and they each slowly walk backwards.
Landen Roupp – 6 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.67. That’s what’s up, dog! Rouppdog! Though, Streamonator loved this one and hates his next, and I agree.
Casey Schmitt – 4-for-4, 3 runs and his 4th homer. He was in Friday’s Buy column. Cust kayin’.
Willy Adames – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 9th homer. This only feels like his first home homer, I checked.
Brayan Bello – 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.31. Pretty hideous underlying numbers for Bello, sadly. Well, I guess not sadly, unless he’s reading this. If he is: Sorry, bro.
Hunter Dobbins – Hit the IL. Who are they gonna slide into his spot? Oh, Dick Fitts.
Romy Gonzalez – 1-for-3 and his 2nd homer. Anyone who is arguing the Red Sox did well trading away Devers, just tell them they had Romy Gonzalez as their three-hole hitter. Though, I suppose that’s not as batshizz crazy as having Rob Refsnyder (2-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer) hitting leadoff.
Ceddanne Rafaela – 2-for-4 and his 8th homer. To the tune of Onyx’s Slam, “Ceddanne! Let the boys be boys!”
Lucas Giolito – 6 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.53. Managed to get in on his two-start week, and that turned out well, and… [struggling to click mouse] now…I…must…drop…him! Ugh, why is this so hard?
Shota Imanaga – Will return this week. He will be in my starting lineup because I do not want to waste my Shota.
Cade Horton – 4 2/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 3.73. Staked to a 9-run lead and Horton cruised out to the Ivictory Coast where there was a Sunni/Shia Holy War and he was never heard from again.
Cal Raleigh – 2-for-3, 3 runs, 2 RBIs and his 31st homer, his past five games: 5 HRs, 12 RBIs, 8 runs, 2 steals. He’s on pace for 65/20. I’ve been using J. Lo’s ass for fantasy, but need to rethink that.
Dominic Canzone – 3-for-5 and his 2nd and 3rd homer. More like Canhit! Did I do something? No? Okay.
Donovan Solano – 3-for-5, 5 RBIs and his 2nd and 3rd homer. Donovan said this isn’t the season of the pitch! Still nothing? Okay.
Reese McGuire – 1-for-4 and his 4th homer. Hide your women and children, Reese McGuire’s getting a jack off.
Seiya Suzuki – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 19th and 20th homer, hitting .256. Seiya balls!
Kyle Tucker – 2-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 15th homer, hitting .285. Going out a steady limb to say–[limb starts swaying, screaming over gusts]–wind was blowing out!
Colin Rea – 5 1/3 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 4.42. Colin Help for Colin Rea.
Shohei Ohtani – 1 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 4.50, 2-for-4, 3 runs, 5 RBIs and his 26th homer. Well, he looked better on the mound, but still only one inning, which is “stretching out” like me on an unattended medieval rack. Not that it stretches me, but is torture. Good news is he still seems to be able to hit well.
Max Muncy – 2-for-4, 7 RBIs and his 10th and 11th homer. He’s hitting near-.300 in June. For him, that’s like a regular guy hitting .500 over the course of a season.
Michael Soroka – 5 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 4 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 5.06. Rather than spend time talking about how Soroka isn’t really that good, can we take a moment of our time to think about the poor souls who started Soroka in Dodger Stadium? They were mentally unstable as it was to start him there, and now they’re going to filled with so much confidence. A confident loon is dangerous. Any hoo! Soroka is a sub-4 ERA pitcher for his career and sitting on some decent peripherals. Starting him in Dodger Stadium is nuts, but I could see starting him in better matchups.
Nathaniel Lowe – 1-for-3, 4 RBIs and his 13th homer, and 3rd homer in two games. Hot schmotato alert!
Wenceel Perez – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer. He’s appeared in the past two weeks Buy column. Act like you know, MC Lyte!
Parker Meadows – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 2nd homer, as he hits 8th, and I was thinking that’s crazy, but I don’t know who he replaces in the top five lineup spots. Colt Keith’s been iffy, but was hot this past weekend.
Casey Mize – 5 IP, 1 ER, 6 hits, zero walks, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.88, but left with the trainer. Maybe they’re just buds.
Junior Caminero – 2-for-4, and his 19th homer. Junior Caminero ain’t no Matchbox!
Zack Littell – 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 hits, zero walks, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.78. He’s allowed 11 walks in 97 2/3 IP. Only one guy since 2010 had a better walk rate, The Adverb.
Jose Quintana – 6 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 1 K, ERA at 2.98. “Draft all Brewers starters (except Woodruff) and reap thy rewards!” He screamed at the heavens while having Quintana on his bench for some reason. He turned to the mirror and shook his head, tu-tu’ing his reflection.
Rhys Hoskins – 2-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 12th homer, 2nd homer in four games, hitting .248. Went to the Player Rater, expecting to see Hoskins way higher than you’d expect, and found exact opposite. He’ll move up after yesterday, but he was 25th for 1B and behind Carlos Santana.
Brice Turang – 2-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 5th homer, hitting .274. You know Turang, so let me quickly say Isaac Collins (1-for-4, 1 run, 8th steal) has my monocled eye. Could someone ask him to return it?
Byron Buxton – 3-for-5, and a double slam (16, 17) and legs (13). Just had a dream about him staying healthy all year and getting 35 homers, and for some reason in my dream he was riding on the back of a unicorn.
Ty France – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer. A French fly!
Ryan Jeffers – 1-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer, and 2nd homer this week, hitting .248. Let rYan cook!
Chris Sale – Hit the IL with a fractured ribcage. Remember that Nathan Lane/Robin Williams movie where they eat ribs, The Ribcage. Was a good flick. In case you wondering, Sale injured his ribs on a diving catch, not wrestling a clubhouse TV, as you might’ve thought.
Grant Holmes – 5 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 10 baserunners (5 BBs), 5 Ks, ERA at 3.71 vs. Eury Perez – 4 2/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 6.17. This matchup was billed as, “You want one of these guys and it’s likely not the guy you should want. Why can’t we want the right guys? Is this philosophical or something deeper in our psychology?”
Sandy Alcantara – 6 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 6.69. That’s four straight solid starts, but who’s counting? (Uh, me.)
Kyle Stowers – 1-for-3 and his 11th homer. This was his first homer in June and he was barely hitting .200, i.e., Kyle Stowers didn’t bring June flowers.
Brandon Walter – 6 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 3.80. The problem with a guy who doesn’t walk anyone? He throws too many hittable pitches. He allowed a homer to O’Hoppe — forgivable! He allowed a homer to Rengifo — unrengifoable!
Mauricio Dubon – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 4th and 5th homer, and four homers in a week. He was hot last week, and the Duboner extenze.
Jeremy Pena – 2-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 11th homer, hitting .326. Invite your cousin Myra, because Pena is having himself a star mitzvah.
Jose Soriano – 6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 3.39. Streamonator loved this start, and likes his next one even more. Giddy up!
Logan O’Hoppe – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 17th homer, and three homers in two games. This guy gets so incredibly hot, then cold. Guess what he is now? Did you just guess blue? What does that mean?
Nolan Schanuel – 3-for-5, 4 RBIs and his 6th homer, 2nd homer this week. If Schanuel passes Grounder Henderson in homers, they’re gonna have to rubber pad my house.
Luis L. Ortiz – 6 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 4.30. Beginning to understand why the Ladies Love Ortiz. What’s not to love? Well, his 4.5 BB/9, but his 10 K/9 is pretty lovable.
Slade Cecconi – 7 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 3.38. His numbers look like a guy who could be very valuable in deeper leagues and Streamonator in shallower.
Mick Abel – 3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.47. He allowed four homers. Picked up right where Nola left off!
Jesus Luzardo – 6 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 4.08. Meh, see that, never a concern.
Kyle Schwarber – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 24th homer. June Schwarb has been relatively tame. Wonder if it’s his circadian rhythms.
Francisco Lindor – 2-for-4 and his 16th homer, hitting .270. Hasn’t been exactly returning preseason value. Yet — again with stank — YET! he’s been better than Bobby Witt Jr.
David Peterson – 4 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 2.98. Not sure when his pitching took a meh turn, but he’s at 7.7 K/9, 3.1 BB/9. Don’t get it twisted, that’s meh.
Francisco Alvarez – Optioned to Triple-A. He’s been sneaky awful. Terrible. So, how can I get mad at that? He just homered on Saturday! Did he deserve to be there on Saturday? No, but I was holding out hope and have him in an extremely deep league. Ugh! I’m just feeling secondhand demotion. Torrens will take over, but he’s even worse for fantasy.
Corbin Carroll – Missed the entire series in Coors, but, wait, it gets worse! He’s headed for an MRI on his hand in Chicago on Monday. Wonder if they know Chicago Hope isn’t a real place.
Mickey Moniak – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 11th homer, four homers in the last week. Crying emoji that is researching Grounder Henderson’s home address.
Max Scherzer – He said he will be activated on Wednesday. Sounds like he’d make a better reporter this year than starter.
Chris Bassitt – 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.61. You’re not gonna be able to elicit tingles in the nethers over Bassitt, but he’s pitching a bit better than his ERA is even showing, and that’s not even bad.
Adrian Houser – 6 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 10 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.27. When you’re about to pick up Houser because his ERA is great, put the clothespin directly onto your nose.
Grant Taylor – 1 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 3.00, and his 1st save. I’d give him all of the White Sox saves. All seven of them.
Jason Heyward – Designated for assignment. That assignment is to find a time machine and travel back to the game when he made his MLB debut for the Braves.
Dylan Cease – 6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.43. He threw 110 pitches, and was at 100 pitches when he entered the 7th inning. All the Padres manager needed to do was read the back of his jersey.
Randy Vasquez – 7 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 3.60. His peripherals are the most dogshizz peripherals I’ve ever seen.
Jackson Merrill – 1-for-4, 1 run as he was activated from the concussion IL, as his melon checked out fine. Fun fact! Ya know the 85-year-old woman who tests melons for ripeness at your supermarket? That’s who does MLB’s concussion tests by using same technique.
Seth Lugo – 6 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 2 hits, zero walks, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.93. Lugo is matchup-proof.
Salvador Perez – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 9th homer. Sal P. smiles for cheese!
Ryan Yarbrough – Hit the IL with an oblique strain. Allan Winans will replace him. He’s the unfunny Winans brother. Uh, no, not that one. No, not that one. No, the other one.
Will Warren – 6 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 8 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.66. He allowed two quick runs in the 1st inning, then regrouped when someone in the dugout between the 1st and 2nd inning mentioned they were playing the Orioles. Streamonator loves his next one even more.
Clarke Schmidt – 7 IP, 0 hits, 2 walks, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.84. Back when boys were men and Boys II Men were on the radio, pitchers would throw until they allowed a hit. Now with all this woke BS and elbows and shizz we got this pansy crap!
Zach Eflin – 3 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 5.46. Bad news: This start. The good news: I didn’t spend very long on this blurb, because there’s no good news for Eflin.
Adley Rutschman – With an oblique strain, he hit the IL for the first time in his career. A milestone commemorated by a visit from Grady Sizemore bearing a plaque. The other bearing, Grady! Put away your nuts!
G Money!
I was able to snag Chandler Simpson today and there is a motivated league mate who offered me a silly trade to get him. I want to counter with this, but wanted your take before submitting:
My Ozuna, Austin Riley, Simpson, and Bubic
For his J Ram, Jackson Merrill, and Framber
Thanks!
-IANASM
Ed-Rod! The Liberator! What a day for the QS-leaguers!
Only the White Sox obvs, but is Ed-Rod becoming a hold rather than a streamer?
6×6 roto league would you trade Seiya Suzuki for Joe Ryan
No, but it’s fair
Hey Grey, need some K, W and ERA help
My #5 is Taillon. Drop Taillon for Painter, Wacha, Kikuchi or Ober
…Or hold
Only other drops are Kahnle and Yates but need saves so bad probably should hold…..
Wacha
For Burnes! Took 10% FAAB but I need the umph in SP!
5×5 12 team redraft DEAD last in SB but 1st in BA
How much FAAB on Chandler Simpson o have $49 (100) remaining $0 allowed
7
Taillon or Merrill Kelly? Standard weekly roto.
Which side of this trade – Kelly or Edma?
Kelly…edman
Dang it, if only they RA Dickey still around and then this guy to relieve him….
I love that he is leaning into the nickname for everyones amusement and not making us make the leap from Richard.
Had a 1.31 ERA in minors in St. Paul so maybe the rebranding is working.
Ha
Gavin Williams home vs Toronto or
Wacha home vs Tampa?
Wacha
Which of these ugly streams looks decent?
Eflin vs. TB
McGreevey vs. Cubs
Sugano vs. Tex
Canning vs. ATL
Canning
Saves + Holds…what order?
Clase, Chapman, Williams
Aroldis, Clase
got offered Freddy Peralta and Michael Harris for O’neil Cruz. i know you just put Freddy as a sell but which side would you rahter have?
Hold
Benching a bat each night is killing me; I pick wrong every time. Bench Abrams? homer. Bench Suzuki? 2 homers. Argh. Who’s the regular bench between?:
J Wood
B Buxton
F Tatis
R Acuna
C Abrams
S Suzuki
Obviously not Acuna, or Wood, or Tatis, right? …but the rest seem obvious not to bench as well for how hot they’ve been.
Thanks!
Trade someone? Bench CJ
Thanks!
Will try again to trade, have tried before with no success. Stingy public league.
No problem
Hey now! Looking for another starter tomorrow. SON has JV v MIA at $15.5 and a QS rating of 0.55 and has Severino @ DET as -$22.0 and a QS rating of 0.59. Projected K/9 is about the same for both
Even in a QS league, on balance it has to be JV, right?
Yes
Hey now!
I have the mighty Kurtz manning 1B
I’m thinking of dropping Soder and grabbing CWalker, who someone dropped.
Seems logical- different team, lefty/righty…
Makes sense or Folly?
Thanks, have a great night!
Meh, I wouldn’t
Are there good alert services one can subscribe to?
Missed on Simpson news and wondering what is the best tool.
Notifications from beat writers on X
Trade advice, oh great one…12 team mixed keeper, should I trade away pfaadt for Jordan Walker?
Meh, sure
Reds announced that infielder Jeimer Candelario has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list and designated for assignment. In a corresponding the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have announced they have signed Calendario to a Major League contract and added him to the 40-man roster.
HAHAHA
Its only a matter of time. Minisian needs his own episode of “Hoarders”. He collects other teams cast offs as if he is uncovering hidden treaures.
Hahaha, absolutely
I wonder if he is feeling jealous of the Rockies and Moniak. Somebody needs to ask him about Moniak on camera. That would be hilarious!
Hahaha, he likely doesn’t even remember
Haha. Mickey who?
Hahaha
Gotta do a crossover to Pawn Stars where his $5000000 player is valued at $3.50.
Haha, yeah, that would be accurate too!
Afternoon & Happy National Hydration Day!
it’s like 150 degrees here, so I’m observing this day in gallons!
Anyway, I snagged Slade Cecconi yesterday for a sport start but can probably drop him for a streaming arm or bat today.
What option you like best:
Thanks as always!
Damn, be safe! Cowser
Thank you!
No problem
Andrew Abbott should be starting the All Star game. Throwing fast is not an actual accomplishment or stat.
Don’t disagree, Skenes will start tho
Hello Grey! You know, when you have a guy like Richard Fitts to work with, you know you struck Gold! That’s gold Jerry, gold!
So, I have Roupp in my lineup and according to Yahoo, he is starting at the Chi Sox this week. You say no bueno? Did I fall asleep and wake up in 2005 and Mark Buehrle is on the hill? HA!
Nah, just checking with you. Seems like a good start to me though.
Thanks Grey.
Haha, Roupp has been bad in away starts
Say no more. But you think Imanaga will start? I can swap them.
Thanks much Grey.
Yes
10 team h2h redraft league. No particular category needed, just overall production. ROS: Profar, Chandler Simpson, Evan Carter?
Chandler
12-team H2H and I need to drop someone to activate Merrill. Drop B. Lowe, Westburg, or Edman? I was initially thinking Edman, but the multi-position eligibility is nice. Am I overthinking? Thank you.
Edman
Next to the way Wins are figured, the thing that bugs me the most is retroactive IL stints. It makes managers tend to slow roll injured players and they miss multiple games while still “active”.
Yeah
ROS- Parker meadows or Jerkstore Profar (upon his return)
Profar
Grey
Chandler Simson being called up
I hope he plays I need the SB’s
Would you drop Adolis Garcia or Javy Baez for him
Over Adolis
Happy Monday Grey,
Do you worry about any of these starts?
Schwelly @NYM
Schwelly vs PHI
Brown vs PHI
Abbott vs SD
Bassitt @BOS
Would you take Boyd @STL over any of them?
Over Bassitt
Rookie ‘fomo’, really want to use Burns this week, but matchup (home vs Yankees) kinda scary!
Use him over any of the following;
Bibee (home) vs Tor
Flaherty (home) vs Athletics
Warren (home) vs Athletics
Nope
Thanks, figured!
1b is a black hole on my team, for this week who you got?
Hoskins (6 home) – 3 vs Pitt and 3 vs COL
Schanual (6 home) – 3 vs Bos and 3 vs Wash
Nate Lowe (6 road) – 3 @ SD and 3 @ LAA
Toglia 3 home vs LAD and 3 road @ Mil
Schmitt – 3 home vs MIA and 3 road @ CWS
Cheers!
Hoskins
Don’t mean to intrude, but how about Hoskins or Sheets?
Sheets has 3 at home against Wash and 3 away at Reds.
Yahoo 12 Team H2H with OPS. Thanks Grey.
Sheets
Grey — Kerry Carpenter. I know you’ve liked him in the past, but thoughts on his slump? Some say the hamstring is zapping his power. Is he still a valuable dynasty asset? Have opportunity to trade for him.
Yes
In a H2H that counts saves and holds separately. Should I add Halvorson over Dylan Lee for saves? I mainly had Lee with expectation of closing duties?
Yes
Kurtz + Teoscar for Vlad
fair, close or ridiculous?
tx again
Teoscar side. Not close
I got J. Chourio and Abbott for Vlad in a dynasty keep all.
Is it worth dropping Horton & Abel to pick up Profar? (need to drop two players b/c I have another player on IL that I have to activate)
Sure, Abel
Deep dynasty league, pts (scores IP, Ks, Hits, Walks, HR against)
pick up Kremer vs. TB or Slade vs. Stl, or neither.
Neither
I have too many CIs in my 12-team roto league and need SPs and OFs. Tork has been super cold recently. Would you drop him for Bryan Reynolds, Jurickson Profar, Brenton Doyle, Jose Soriano, Sandy Alcantara, or Gavin Williams?
Reynolds
Need to sit one: Schwelly vs Phi, Schmidt vs. Ath, Warren vs. Ath, Misi vs. Pit. Any thoughts?
Warren
Actually Spencer Schwell prolly makes most sense to sit, but I’d look at SON
neither one having stellar season..
who do like ROS- JDuran or Uncle Oscar?
tx
Uncle Oscar?
Teoscar (translated for your convenience)
Depends on needs, I guess Teoscar
Hi Grey – do you like Busch or Soderstrom better at 1B?
Busch
Is Oneil Cruz turning into a three true outcome hitter?
Turning?
He doesn’t have the body type of an Adam Dunn. I was wondering if maybe it’s a slow process that involves 3,000 calories of starch per day.
Haha
I must be half asleep today. I just noticed Rudy worked in the names to three tv shows in the title!
Haha, go USA
Keeper league…Parker Meadows or Max Muncy A’s?
Meadows
OBP league, Schanuel or Schmitt for a bench bat
Nolan
Schanks
Scho problem
Pick only two ROS, MKelly, Eovaldi, Abbott, Lugo, thanks!
Eovaldi, Abbott
Has Kurtz moved in front of Soderstrom for you with his insanity this week?
Sounds fine
Good Afternoon,
Struggling for saves in a H2H categorieseague. Would you add Halvorsen or Faucher? Sorry about asking such a depressing question…
Halvo
Hey Grey,
Best overall bench bat?
Cam Smith, Springer, Busch
Thanks!
-IANASM
Busch
Chase (don’t call me Corbin) Burns gets the Yankees at Smallpark tomorrow, followed by a 2 start week – @ Crochet and @ Wheeler.
Welcome to the Bigs, kid.
Haha
What’s a rough estimate of where Burns might rank amongst starters rest-of-season in a base case scenario? I have to either drop him, or make room for him by dropping or trading another starter. I’m trying to decide how comfortable I should be with the latter? Do you think his base-case outcome is top-20, top-30, top-40, top-50, etc? Thanks!
I don’t know, maybe top 40
@Grey: weekly roto. gotta start one of these guys. who do you like this week?
ben brown – @ stl, @ hou
c sanchez – @ hou
roupp – @ cws
Wu tang was good, but theyre pretty old now. I saw Rickles at the end and it wasnt quite that bad, but you know….
Haha, comparing Wu to Rickles is so funny…Roupp
Cautiously optimistic on Roupp on the road v White Sox. My other options include, three two starts…JV, Libby and Paddack. Starting any over Roupp? I guess if you can’t start JV with two starts v Miami @ White Sox, you shouldn’t bother to roster.
I don’t know their matchups, JV’s sound fine
Are we trusting J. Luzardo again in pts leagues? Thanks!
Sure
Please rank Soriano Horton Birdsong
Bird, Soriano
I initially thought that was one player and started to look for him – Soriano Horton Birdsong! HA!
Haha
Hey Grey thanks! Talk about must watch TV Tuesday, Burns vs Yanks, wow!!!
12 Tm 5×5 redraft
I need SB and saves bad! next to last and last in them BUT also need K, ERA and
WHIP…..
Give – Hunter Brown, Pete Alonso
Get- O’Neil Cruz, Wyatt Langford, Jack Caglionone, Luke Weaver, Jack Flaherty
I have added Chase Burns and Misirowski lately so they may help…..
Yeah, excited! Trade looks pretty bad
I’m done with Zach Eflin in my 12 team.
My pitching is horrendous though
Would you drop Eflin for Soroka or just stream the spot going forward
Stream
Standard weekly roto –
1. Rasmussen or Taillon? Ratios important.
2. Where would you rank Sheets and Bellinger for 1B going forward? Both in good lineups. Statcast edge to Belli in most categories, except K and BB rates.
1. Rasmussen 2. Cody over Sheets
If you have Sheets to replace Belli at 1B would you move Belli and an SP3 for Fried?
Sure
Nick Martinez…..switching to mid relief for the season, or just random appearance after a shortened start? Is Chase taking his rotation spot or someone else’s?
If he is mid reliever, any chance he moves up the bull pen chart?
It was a bullpen day, throwing between starts
How many starters throw 2 innings of relief 2 days after there start “between starts”?
Drop Martinez for any of Ryne Nelson, Gusto, Kolek, Ed Cab?
16 team H2H ESPN league.
EdCab
so we hate roupp and I bench him need to bench 1 more in QS between
Lugo vs LAD
Grant Holmes @ NYM

For H2H pts league ROS:
Riley or Muncy at 3B?
Ozuna or Yandy at DH?
Riley
Ozuna
Hey Grey, which one guy would you go with in a Util spot this week?
Barger (6, @CLE, @BOS)
Nootbar (7, CHC, @CLE)
Ward (6, BOS, WAS)
Schanuel (6, BOS, WAS)
Sorry, I asked that wrong. Which one would you SIT out of those guys?
Barger
Lost King. Traded Albombso for Sale to make up for it. Now lost Sale… Got any of them Fantasy Football rankings?
haha
I have one remaining IL slot andt hree candidates (McCullers;Zebby; Gil). Fairly deep league.
(1) Who goes to IL?
(2) Are either of other two worthy of being rostered (very little on FAAB)?
1. McCullers 2. Gil
Good stuff Grey, thanks……keeper league, which side would you prefer: Elly De La Cruz and Kurtz or Acuna and Misiorowski? Thanks
Elly
12 team, 5×5 roto
1) You still trying to hold Eury Perez in 12 teamers?
2) SON loves Kikuchi on Wednesday v. BOS ($48.6). Do you agree?
1. no 2. Sure
Harper and Litell for Fried and Ben Rice? I need pitching and I have Yandy Diaz as my bench 1B. Rice and Litell just cancel each other out.
Sounds fine
I have shota coming back this week. Would you drop flaherty or wacha? Getting sick of Jacko but the minute I drop flaherty he will have 10ks vs As.
Wacha
Is Misi for Alonso close or ??
H2H league so trying to be patient on Harper. He is in my IL slot but also just lost Ivan. Would you take Seiya and Busch for Harper and Donovan?
No
Thanks!
1. So you have Alonso well above Misi, correct?
2. And on my second question, you would NOT take Seiya and Busch, correct?
1. yes 2. I would
Nice. Harper’s risk is so concerning.
Yeah
Hi Grey. sit one…Luzardo @ Atl, Cecconi vs Stl, or Keller vs NYM
Thanks.
Slade
WOW! Finally coming around on Keller? lol You have always hated him…
Haha
I’m shocked you didn’t suggest sitting him haha
someone said he’s been good
Lile or Benson in NL keeper league
Lile
“Cut me Mick” has a new meaning
Haha
For some reason your Seiya Suzuki blurbs make me want to guard my nethers.
HA!
Could you list all of the following pitchers you would drop for Soriano in 12 team std 5×5 – Birdsong, Berrios, Eury, Gallen, Warren, Morton. Are any of the P listed non-streamers? Thanks!
Eury
More SVs ROS, Strahm or Halvorsen?
Halvo
Add any of these C over Heim?
Realmuto, Wells, Kirk, Dingler, Narvaez, Jeffers
Dynasty league.
Wells
Second choice behind Wells? No joke, he was added since the time I asked the question
Kirk
Grey! Hey Hey!
I am writing “Grant Taylor” over and over again in my Trapper Keeper. Who give a hootenanny if he gets all seven saves . . . WHEN HE DOES IT IN AN SP SLOT!!!!!
MWAH MWAH MWAH!!! I LURVE a closer with SP eligibility. I lurve lurve lurve it!!!
haha, lurve
Have Misiorowski in a 12 team roto where we can keep 4 forever, so basically if a player isn’t expected to be a top 50 draft pick consistently they aren’t keeper material.
Currently in first place and have a fear of being roofied, so trying to figure out what’s fair value to ask for in a trade.
1. Would Misi for Langford or Duran be too much an ask?
2. Yelich too little? Maybe Yelich plus Cease or again too much ?
10 team AL 5×5, might consider offering Jeffers or Navarrez for E Carter, Jake Meyers or Dominguez…can you rank each of those groupings… and is that even an upgrade?
You want to trade a terrible catcher for one of those guys?
10 team AL and guy lost Adley…you should try playing in these leagues more often…YTD navarez 8th best and Jeffers 11th best….other owner also has limited FAAB remaining…but I guess your reply implies any of those guys would be better? In which case rank the 3 OF please.
Carter, Dominguez
Thanks
No problem
hmm I think I had figured my pitching out this weekly but I am confused as to why you don’t like roupp @ the white Sox
my last 2 starter options are boyd @ stl currently dtd with shoulder bruise, roupp, Lugo vs LAD and Holmes @ mets
which 2 do you like?
Edit* He’s terrible in away games
Decided to sit Roupp after looking at his home/away splits, then you and streamo confirmed. Can’t afford a shelling
Yup
In order to be totally fair, his misfires on the road came against such luminaries as the Dodgers, Phils, Stros, Cubs and Pads. His other three road starts v Twins, Nats and Angels resulted in a 2-1 2.00 ERA, 3 w 15 k line. I’m going to go out on a limb and classify the White Sox as more represented by the latter as opposed to the former. I’m starting Roupp with confidence. Then again, my options are limited.
Two part question : do i give up on Jarren Duran for Burleson and Gallen ?
If i accepted Gallen then who would be the drop between:
Soroka
Kremer
Lauer
I have Eovaldi back fri so i can only keep 1 of 3 listed Thanks for help.
No
H2H points league
3b ROS: Matt Shaw or Casey Schmitt?
Shaw
as always thank you!
Would you rather Baez, cam smith, vientos or Shaw at 3B
Baez
Would you be looking to sell Kirby low Grey ? The increased walk rate is so unlike him
Sure
Very longtime reader but couldn’t remember who the Adverb was. So I asked google. They got Cliff Lee right, but their AI reasoning was pretty funny:
“ This nickname is used in their fantasy baseball content. It is likely derived from Lee’s consistent and reliable performance, similar to how adverbs modify and describe verbs in a sentence, adding emphasis and detail. One article even mentions the nickname in relation to Stephen King’s advice to avoid adverbs”
HAHA, yes, Razzball does confuse AI pretty good with nonsense
I looked at the stats for last 30 days: Muncy was an impressive 20/8/25/3/.316, then I saw Raleigh’s line of 22/14/31/4/.309. That’s very impressive indeed!!!
Yeah, damn
Can only keep 2:
Rice
Stanton
Moniak
Adell
Not worried about positions – which 2 would you go with?
Adell, Moniak
Please let me know who you dislike the most here…. H.Brown v Phillies, Pivetta v Nats, Schmidt v A’s, Warren v.A’s, Priester v Rockies, Sonny v. Cubs, Verlander v Miami and possibly @ White Sox, Birdsong v Miami Sonny v Cubs. I can start 6 of these or I can start 5 and a closer (Estevez) Also Max Muncy has 6 games this week, only 3 vs RHP, 2 in Colorado. Him or Castellanos 6 games. Thx in advance.
Priester…Muncy
Y Alvarez for J caminero? In the hunt this year. Long term 14 team keeper league.Need power and not sure i can wait for Yordan.
No One is trading for yordong buddy
I own both in a keeper league. No way do I value Yordan over Junior either this year or long term. Too much uncertainty in the near term, and, not that Yordan is old, but Junior is 6 years younger. But sure, if the Junior owner agrees, definitely in your favor.
Junior
Hi Grey
My team is in a lot of trouble. My OF is Brent Rooker, Roman Anthony, Mike Toglia and Josh H Smith.
I have CJ Abrams and Bobby Witt – would you trade Bobby Witt, Toglia and Gallen for Jackson Chourio, Chad Patrick and Jose Berrios. It’s a redraft league
No

Ha
Who would you rather have for ros-
L. Garcia(Wash) or Kurtz? Thank you
This is for h2h cat 12t.
Kurtz
98 degrees for the game in Baltimore today. Can we start a prayer octagon for the Rangers and O’s starters?
Ha
Hey grey! In weekly leagues are you trusting that Boyd will start despite shoulder bruise from that comebacker he caught? Or would you roll with Burns debut v Yankees gauntlet?
I don’t know who Boyd is facing, but is he starting? If he is, then he’s fine
Cardinals.
Sounds fine…I’m fine with benching Burns in his 1st start
Weirdly I’m leaning towards starting Gallen for his CWS start and benching Burns too. Crazy? Seems like if Gallen can’t have a good start and W against CWS he’s a drop.
Doesn’t sound crazy
good moring grey which 5 starters to you like here this week H2H

Taj
Who do I drop if Vientos comes back today?
Addison Barger
Andy Pages
Brenton Doyle
Mark Vientos
Doyle
Is this who Michael Harris is? Asking for a friend.
Never been a fan
Yea, wtf. He was supposed to be the second coming of Eric Davis, lol.
Sale breaking his ribs making a diving play in the 9th inning trying to get a CGSO was not on my bingo card of ways he’d miss a couple months or whatever it takes to heal a 135 pound mans rib cage.
People really still play Bingo ?
100%. I don’t, but I bet it’s as popular as ever.
Bingo is so fun
Yeah, I didn’t see a timetable, not sure
Morning Grey!
I’ve been pretty lucky with closers this year, but deciding on who to start every week is not always easy. Here are my choices – which 2 to sit? Assuming two are easy choices, maybe even three given DET uncertainty.
Bautista – 6, TEX, TB
Suarez – 6, WAS, @CIN
Pagan – 6, NYY, SD
Kahnle – 6, ATH, MIN
Vest – 6, ATH, MIN
Kahle, Suarez
Is Eflin worth ever rostering in a 14 team league?
Nah
Flaherty – what’s up with that?
Which two of these guys do you SIT this week?
Eovaldi (probably starting at home against the Mariners?)
Bibee (TOR)
Flaherty (ATHs)
G. Williams (TOR)
Mize (MIN)
Are these all home? Mize, Gavin
Yep, all home. Thanks!
No problem
Ugh with the Carroll news! Grey, can you help me figure out which three of these guys to start this week?
Carroll (6, MIA, @CHW)
Gimenez (6, @CLE, @BOS)
Brooks Lee (7, SEA, @DET)
McMahon (6, LAD, @MIL)
Lux (6, NYY, SD)
Vientos (7, ATL, @PIT) – probably returning today???
Vientos, McMahon, Corbin
Interesting – I wasn’t expecting you to recommend the two 3B there, so it leaves me short at 2B. Let me try this another way:
1) Which two would you start at 2B – Bogaerts (6, WAS, @CIN), Lee (7, SEA, @DET), Gimenez (6, @CLE, @BOS)
2) Which two would would you start at 3B – Barger (6, @CLE, @BOS), Vientos (7, ATL, @PIT), McMahon (6, LAD, @MIL)
1. Lee 2. Vientos, McMahon
Sorry, for 2B, you’d start Lee (7, SEA, @DET) and which other between Bogaerts (6, WAS, @CIN) and Gimenez (6, @CLE, @BOS)?
Andres
I’ve been seeing Caleb Durbin ..I mentioned he looks almost like Nico Hoerner… To a few
Been good for a month now but the statcast is putrid with the woba xba and power
Any thing you like so far from him?
Seems like a slap hitter with speed
ESPN Points, this week only
Need 4 of the 6…please rank top 4
Lugo vs LAD
Eury Perez @ Az
Eflin vs TB
Kershaw @ Colo
Soroka @ LAA
Cecconi vs StL
Thanks!
sounds like you need the streamonator.
Lugo, Cecconi, Soroka, Kershaw
12-team 5×5 league. Need a replacement for Burger that is 2b or 3B eligible (I can move Jazz to 3B). Please pick top two from:
Morell, India, Muncy (ATH), BrooksLee, Wagaman, CDurbin, Solano, CSchmidt, Rengifo, TyFitz, HyeSeongKim, Dubon(er).
Thank you.
Also, prayer hexagon for Carroll please.
Muncy, India
Start Scherzer @ Cle this week?
I’m not
Drop Shota or Jacob MIZ For Chase Burns?
I’m envious Peter, your roster must be loaded
I’d personally find a way to roster Burns, but not at the expense of Shota or MIZ
Maybe just leave Shota on IL until all this shakes out
Hold
Tough call on weekly SP, how do you rank…
Wacha vs TB
Alcantara @ AZ
Pfaadt vs MIA
Burns vs NYY (and possible second start vs SD)
Burns is obviously amazing, just a brutal matchup week
That rank
Luzardo earned his second entry on the 100 Best Fantasy Starts list. The other one was his first start of the season. There were a couple more from Saturday to qualify, with Ortiz also gaining a 2nd spot:
41 Clarke Schmidt Jun 21 vs BAL
51 Jesus Luzardo Apr 4 vs LAD
67 Luis L. Ortiz Jun 21 @ATH
84 Jesus Luzardo Jun 22 vs NYM
97 Luis L. Ortiz Apr 12 vs KC
Ha, incredible
Nick Cas,Michael Bush or Burleson ros?
Busch
Start chase burns against the Yankees?
Meh, I’d let him sit on my bench for one start
Albies droppable in a 10 teamer for any of these studs who are about to have a killer July in Coors? Between McMahon, Toglia,Beck, and Moniak?
Yes, McMahon
Rutschman…..are you sure it wasn’t Wieters instead of Sizemore? 2.0 catching destroys a man…unless your Cal Raleigh apparently
Turns out the only way to stay healthy being a catcher is to have an ass so large you can sit on it while catching.
Might’ve been both with Wieters driving the van
Which two would you keep out of these three — Neto, Kurtz, VinnieP? Thanks!
Not Vinnie
5X5 H2H
Landen Roupp, Mick Abel, Jeffrey Springs, Zach Eflin, Taj Bradley, Bryan Bello, Zach Littell, Edward Cabrea and Noah Cameron.
Which 3 are you keeping from that list?
None? Look at matchups? I guess, Abel, EdCab, Littell
Grey!!!!
Awesome!
Rodney Dangerfield quote of the day for June 23, 2025
My problem is that I appeal to everyone that can do me absolutely no good.
Cheers,
Ante
Thanks!
You don’t like Roupp @ the White Sox?
He has a 1.85 ERA at home, 5.14 in away
Well he gave up 6 ER against the Dodgers in 1.2 IP. haha. Definitely will skew
those numbers for you. No one started him there. He had great road starts vs the angels and nats. I see the Sox being more along those lines.
Gotcha
Peterson may be meh with the K’s, but he has been helpful for me in a qs league. He had not allowed more than 3 runs all year until today. 7 qs in last 9 outings. I didn’t start him against LAD twice and he pitched well, so i rolled him out there this time. HRs got him today. He’s been avoiding them and pitching better than his peripherals, but he still has a 3.36 FIP and a 3.49 xFIP. A 57% gb rate will help.
Yeah, that’s fair
Hey Grey! In a 10- teamer …
Thanks!
Hi Grey,
Another manager offered to trade Mick Adell to me for Reese Olson. I was leaning to rejecting this trade
1. Do you agree that the trade should be turned down?
I checked his passing staff. The key members of his staff:
Louis Varland
Garrett Whitlock
Zack Wheeler
Clarke Schmidt
Jeff Brown
Hunter Brown
Ranger Suarez
2. Does it matter if the manager who offered this trade is currently in second place?
3. Who would you ask from the above list for in exchange for Reese Olson?
4. What do you think of asking for Clarke Schmidt in exchange for Reese Olson?
Thanks so much!!!
Jeff Brown was affectionately known as the Godfather of Sole
The inventor of the flip flop?
No, the fisherman
Haha
Thanks!
No problem
Randy Vasquez’s ERA with those peripherals is a crime against humanity.
Haha
Am I crazy to start Rafaela over Seager next week at SS?
Seems too cute by half
