The Astros got two great starts this weekend from two guys who weren’t in the conversation until recently. On Saturday, Jose Urquidy went 7 IP, 1 ER, 2 hits, zero walks, 9 Ks, ERA at 5.54. He made my pants up-jump-the-boogie a little from his pitching. I expect multiple roofies from him still, but Urquidy is chef’s kiss sexy if you catch him on the right day. I am so intrigued that I’m at the optometrist’s office permanently sewing a monocle to one eye and fo’ever squinting with my other. Dude’s got a 11.8 K/9, 0.7 BB/9 and 2.66 xFIP! I mean, what? “Doc, take off the monocle, I’m just going to own Urquidy… What’s that? This is really permanent? But I xen’t cee my laft hend.” On the reals, I started adding Urquidy in a few deeper mixed leagues, and am intrigued as all get-out. Astros said Brad Peacock might be sidelined until mid-August, or until Urquidy stops being so sexy! More like Jose Ursexy! Amiright? Then, on Sunday, the Astros rolled out Rogelio Armenteros, who went 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 1.93. He got two homers from Michael Brantley (3-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 14th and 15th homer), but who asked Brantley to steal the thunder? Don’t try to deny it either, I got the surveillance footage from the 76 station, and the thunder was stolen. Armenteros is, uh, armed with a changeup that leaves hitters helpless, but looks like a bit more like a middle reliever, Rogelio A-MR-enteros as a Spanish dyslexic might say (though unlikely). Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Nomar Mazara – 1-for-3 and his 13th homer. Why does it feel like in two years Mazara’s gonna be a 4th outfielder and we’re gonna laugh, a soft sullen laugh, at all my Mazara sleeper posts?
Lance Lynn – 7 IP, 4 ER, 9 baserunners, 12 Ks, ERA at 3.93. You know the Yankees are eyeing Lynn for a trade. Has any pitcher fit the Yankee mold as much as Lynn? Paxton, Happ, CC and Lynn may as well be Russian nesting dolls called, “Stereotypical Yankee veteran pitchers.” Mike Minor too. Hey, maybe the Rangers are the Yankees’ Triple-A affiliate.
Luis Urias – 0-for-2, 2 runs as he was recalled on Saturday. I really hope Ian Kinsler finds another team to play on, because I don’t want to have to lock him in my car trunk for two months. “Hey, wanna see Verne Troyer’s grave? It’s pretty cool. Literally. It’s an Igloo cooler. Cmon, I’ll show you…” That’s me luring Kinsler into my trunk. Urias had 19 HRs, 7 SBs and a .315 average in Triple-A, which is basically what I’d expect from him in the majors. That’s how things work now. Or at least until Rob Manfred dons a dress and starts screaming, “Laces out,” for baseballs. I’m grabbing Urias in every league.
Asher Wojciechowski – 7 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 2 walks, 10 Ks, ERA at 3.91. Wojciechowski showed no-hit stuff vs. the Red Sox, but he really should have no-hit stuff against every team. Not because he’s good, he’s not, but if the only way to jinx someone from having a no-hitter is saying their name, then Wojciechowski is unstoppable.
Trey Mancini – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 20th and 21st homer, and four homers in the last four games (though they all came in two games. It’s don’t matter, just don’t bite it. She swallow–What the hell is going on? Get me out of this parenthesis right now, it’s infected my mind).
Andrew Cashner – 6 IP, 4 ER, 8 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 4.19. This was Cashner’s return to Camden, which was about as inauspicious as Alfie Solomons return to Camden. Don’t Google it if you don’t know what I’m talking about; it’ll spoil things for you. Instead, just watch Peaky Blinders.
DJ LeMahieu – 1-for-4 and his 14th homer. Seriously, don’t fade anyone’s power in 2019.
James Paxton – 3 1/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 4.20. There seems to be a lack of bully from Paxton when the game is low stakes.
Charlie Blackmon – 4-for-5, 3 runs and his 21st homer. Chazz Noir came a triple short of the cycle. Or as Chazz Noir would express it in his blaxploitation film, “I had pleasure. Sorry, babe.”
German Marquez – 7 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.99. Can’t the Rockies align their rotation so Marquez never starts again in Coors? I’ve never seen someone hate his home as much as German since the Germans in post-WWII Germany. Now I know why German Marquez is the Nazi in Exile; his home sucks! In all seriousness, the Rockies should enclose Coors in an anti-gravity chamber.
Andrew Heaney – Hit the Ineffective List with shoulder inflammation. His shoulder was said to be inflamed with how bad his arm is throwing. The Angels claimed Adalberto Mejia to replace him. They are now in discussions about changing his last name to Mondesi.
Albert Pujols – 2-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 15th homer. Anyone who can’t run as fast as Pujols should be purged from the majors. He looks like George Lopez in a celebrity softball game.
Anthony DeSclafani – 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 11 Ks, ERA at 4.12. You ever torture yourself by looking at a guy’s stats on your team vs. on your bench? It’s like some Gitmo-level shizz. DeSclafani in my lineup: 5.05 ERA; on my bench: 3.52. Stop waterboarding me, DeSclafani!
Yairo Munoz – 3-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and a slam (2) and legs (5), hitting .306. Imagine the ball wasn’t juiced. Could’ve called him Yairo Minus, because that would be how many homers he had.
Jack Flaherty – 4 1/3 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 4.24. About to start calling him Jack Shizz.
Nicholas Castellanos – 3-for-5 and his 11th homer. His name is longer than his homers. Prove me wrong.
JaCoby Jones – 2-for-5, 2 runs and his 10th homer. Fun fact! His full name is a three-person law firm.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 18th homer. Sometimes I wanna call him Babe Ruth Jr. Is that weird?
Lucas Giolito – 6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 3.12 vs. Ryan Yarbrough – 6 IP, 0 ER, 2 hits, zero walks, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.93. Was that ace matchup of Giolito/Yarbrough we were all anticipating in March. For those wondering, I’m actively pursuing Yarbrough in my deeper leagues, but his 6.9 K/9, 1/.3 BB/9 and 4.15 xFIP is a little yawnstipating.
Travis d’Arnaud – 1-for-3, 4 RBIs and his 10th homer. Goodbye Danny Jansen! Hello The French Terminator!
Kevin Kiermaier – Hit the IL with a thumb sprain. The good news is you never thought you’d get almost to August with a healthy Kiermaier, so it was all gravy, and you have high cholesterol and don’t need anymore gravy.
Drew Smyly – 6 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 7.69. This comes just after the Phils signed Smyly, because after paying Harper $330 million, they only have money for emoticons.
Rhys Hoskins – 2-for-4 and his 21st homer, hitting .259. I’d put money on it that he’s a .255-.260, 34-homer hitter at the end of the season, except Cougs tells me the renovations to our house are going to cost more money than I made in the last three years combined, so how about a Mortimer and Randolph Duke-type bet?
Joe Musgrove – 6 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 4.08. If you can figure out when Musgrove’s gonna pitch well vs. not, you’re a better sayer of soothes than I.
Dario Agrazal – 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.25. True Story Alert! I saw Agrazal on waivers in my NL-Only league, saw his 3.9 K/9, 3.2 BB/9, 6.15 xFIP and made the Larry David scrunched meh face.
Liam Hendriks – 2/3 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 1.46, and his 2nd blown save. “Hey, I’m your substitute teacher, Grey Albright, Fantasy Master Lothario, don’t abbreviate it.” A group of six-year-olds look at each other. “So, I’m here to teach a valuable lesson that you won’t ever have anything wonderful. Now open your box scores to the A’s.” One six-year-old raises her hand. “Speak your peace.” “Mr. Lothario, Liam Hendriks has been great and stands to continue to close games in Oakland.” I suddenly begin to cry, “You’re right, you’re right. I’m just so jaded! Never lose your optimism!”
Max Kepler – 3-for-6, 2 runs, 4 RBIs and his 24th homer. Maybe because I minored in Saberhagenmetrics at the Fantasy Baseball College of Charleston, but I can’t help feel like Kepler’s going to fall back to earth next year. How’sever, according to Saberhagenmetrics, no one is hitting more than 10 homers next year.
Jordan Yamamoto – 4 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 2.61. More like Yama-no-mo-moto.
A.J. Pollock – 3-for-4, 2 runs, 4 RBIs and a slam (6) and legs (2). He hasn’t played every day, but it feels like every day he plays he homers or does something worthwhile. That could be said of the Dodgers hitters, in general. Well, except Corey Seager and Justin Turner.
Max Muncy – 1-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 26th homer. Batt Meaty rubbed Muncy’s bat between his legs like a towel when you’re coming out of the shower, so that ball was destined for the bleachers.
Joc Pederson – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 23rd homer. Seriously, Dave Roberts can’t lose more than 60 games even if he tried.
Jakob Junis – 6 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 4.83. The Streamonator loves his next start, but it’s against the Indians again, the same team he faced on Saturday. Pitchers are facing so many of the same teams that it’s hard to mix-up your game plan from start to start. Not sure I remember the schedule being quite this imbalanced in years past, but this might also play into why pitchers are being rocked (on top of the juiced ball).
Bubba Starling – 1-for-4 and his 1st homer. Bubba gonna make ya spark wit da Ying Yang Twins! (Sadly, I can quote more Bubba Sparxxx lyrics than Bubba Sparxxx.)
Jorge Soler – 3-for-3 and his 27th homer. For the chuckles, it’s worth pointing out Soler is on pace for 43 homers.
Adam Plutko – 7 IP, 1 ER, 3 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.81. I went into a German massage parlor and asked for a Plutko and they had a German woman dressed like Pluto stick something in my butt. I’ll give you their phone number if you want more deets.
Zach Plesac – 6 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.50. Indians at home vs. the Royals sans Mondesi — Sandesi? — goes without saying, but Plesac, or please Zach, where do you go next? Oh, yeah, I just said in the Junis blurb. July is Royals vs. Indians month.
Jose Ramirez – 2-for-4 and his 10th homer, hitting .232, and hitting near.310 in July with five homers. I’m having my cake and eating it too with Jo-Jo Ram. I said to avoid him in the preseason — natch! — and said to buy him low a few weeks ago — natch, NATCH!
Derek Holland – Designated for assignment, i.e., the Giants told Holland to put his tulips on their ass.
Conner Menez – 5 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 6 Ks in his 1st major league start. Anyone in San Fran is a decent streamer. The park is like the anti-Coors, which makes sense if you’ve ever been there. For the 7th inning stretch, they stand to honor the vines they lost in Napa that year. Menez does have some solid Ks — 13.5 K/9 — but his command is iffy. For now, I’d look at streaming him in deeper leagues.
Mike Yastrzemski – and his 9th homer, and 2nd homer in two days, and 4th homer this week. Hot schmotato alert!
Zack Wheeler – Threw a bullpen session and could be activated this week vs. the Padres. Great, I can activate him for my weekly lineup! Dot dot dot. Then, invariably, find out around Wednesday he won’t be pitching this week.
Amed Rosario – 1-for-4 and his 11th homer. Since June 29th, he’s batting .418/.450/.655. Mets still have him batting 7th, because, ya know, dumb, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t own him, and hot schmotato, fo’ sure.
Ronald Acuna Jr. – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 24th homer, hitting .295. Joined the 20/20 club on Saturday, July 20th. Now on pace for 30/30 on August 30th and 40/40 on September 40th.
Austin Riley – Benched on Sunday for Ender Inciarte (0-for-2, 1 run). You six weeks ago, “Wait a second, Grey, I enjoy the way your eyes pierce my soul and I want to find out how you feather your hair, but you’re saying to sell Austin Riley? I’m sorry, man, that’s about as dumb as dumb goes.” You still think the sell on Austin Riley when he was hitting .350 with a bomb a day was a bad idea?
Kevin Gausman – 7 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 5.71, as he was activated from the IL. Interesting. Very, very interesting. So, there is a chance here for something in the 2nd half. Am I being roped in? P to the erhaps. But his 9.4 K/9 and 3.1 BB/9 aren’t awful. A Streamonator call in shallower leagues, but in 12-team mixed and deeper, I could see grabbing him.
Mike Soroka – 6 IP, 4 ER, 11 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.46. Not saying someone definitely hypnotized Soroka to imagine he was pitching in the dead-ball era vs. the juiced ball, pinball flippers on the dugout era, but I’m not saying it’s not possible either.
Brandon Woodruff – 3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.75. Damn, his evil twin, Barf’don Woodruff. Go away, Barf’don. Now Bar’don is headed to the IL with an oblique, which will take anywhere from a week to three months. Oblique!
Gio Gonzalez – 4 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 3.60, as he returned from the IL after nearly two months. Gio was on the IL with arm fatigue. That’s pronounced fay-tee-gay, it’s Italian!
I’ve never been in Cali during baseball season. Guess all the b’snitches are sucking their thumbs in bed right now. Woooooooo!
It’s always so early here!
Every game is blacked out,it’s nuts.
Chuckles, it’s the best! You wanna watch a game starting at 7 PM or 10 PM?
Starting at 4 PM or 7 PM? It’s not even close — I could go on with showing I know how time zones work
Now explain daylight saving time to me!
As I know it, the clocks move forward or back depending on if you have fields to sow in the 1940s
Ah, and Arizona has no fields so they just ignore it?
Hi Grey!
In a 12 team H2H league should I drop Lucchesi for one between Gausman, Urquidy or Armenteros?
Thanks for the marvellous job again!
I’d hold
Thanks! Agree with DT
I am totally with you on mazara. I’ve owned him for years in a dynasty league. Cant miss prospect lol. He has shown zero growth in the big leagues over 4 years. His k% has increased every year and his average has got worse. Walk rate going in wrong direction too. Funny that Texas even talked about sending him down. Maybe they should have let him develop in the minors. With the way the ball is flying you’d think he’d be doing better. 3 years in a row with 20 hr and like clockwork he is on pace for 20 this year. Gotta fix the groundball issue with him for him to reach another level.
He needs to completely rework his swing — too much stuff is in motion with that swinging gate thing he does and consequently he has no strike zone judgment — and they need to get him a hitting coach who will make him do it. Sending him to the minors is either a damn good idea – so he can spend some time there learning a quieter swing – or a threat meant to make him receptive to changing the swing.
He should take Odor with him while he is at it, both with threats to listen to a real hitting coach or languish down there until you do.
I was gonna say what LenFuego said, I think he needs to fix his swing
He needs to go to the LaStella School for the Launch Angle Challenged, that’s what! LA under league avg with only a 20% FB rate… yuck. he’s hitting 220 off fastballs and breaking balls (that’s really bad to suck at both) with a 40% whiff rate on breakers. and chasing balls 36% of the time (also bad), he can’t sit on anything.
Grey!!!
Beautiful report, man. A sight for sore eyes.
a. Tomorrow we go back to the mainland. So happy, I’m sure I jinxed it just like last time.
b. Damn, Paxton. Was more afraid of Armenteros’ start, then got roofied by big maple. I get it though. The rule is Rox players can’t hit outside of Coors. Paxton is trying to confirm the rule by showing us all the exception. Get it? The exception proves the rule. Ah, Grey, you disappoint me with your silence.
c. Dropped Armentetos after his wonderful start, ’cause I had 4 holes in my lineup and added luplow to cover the 4th hole. Also I saw Armenteros’ next start is on the road, with a good chance of roofie. I also note I’m in first in HR and runs but also first by a lot in games played… 1368 or something like that. So, to score more you need to play more games and pitching sucks so badly this year I can only count on hitting really and hope to luck into more Ks as I start more pitchers as the calendar turns to September 1.
Runs=809 (12 pts)
HR=238 (12 pts)
RBIs=723 (11 pts, 6 RBIs off the pace)
SB=92 (10.5, tied for 2nd)
Avg=. 262 (4 pts in the 9th but it’s basement cock fight from 11th. 258 to 4th. 268)
Pitching=disaster
Cheers,
Ante
Is the commonly held presumption not that the Rockies hit “better” at home, rather than a perceived “lacking” outside of Coors? Or do i have that wrong? I don’t think so though…
Anyways…mentioned this to you before about pax but I used it bears repeating since you seem surprised – Pax is dealing with an anxiety issue and struggles in perceived “big” ( in other words, high stakes) games. Normally he’s better at home, but only against the middle to cupcake-tier teams. Jfyi you might want to bench him for his next game, he’s at Boston (which you can safely consider a high stakes game).
Really on Pax? I don’t remember hearing that at all… Is that what’s going on? And he signed with New York? That seems like a bad move by him
Yeah he was dealing with it initially and seeing a therapist at the beginning of the season for about three starts but then he threw that 8 inning gem against Boston and apart from a nice game against KC immediately after – it’s been rough sledding for pax. I think the pressure is too much for him unfortunately, ala zack greinke. Hope I’m wrong though.
Interesting, I totally missed this
Thanks! A. Nice B. Haha, I never understood that C. Wow, nice hitting at least
Grey!
Thanks man. Nice to see you hear so early. I mean usually you go to post midnight Hawaii time (since you mentioned your penchant for time zones) and then grace us with your presence again at 09h00 AM Hawaii time. I know Hawaii time from you and from the deadline for transactions to take in my RCL. Thanks for that.
Cheers,
Ante
Haha, No problem!
Grey!
Seriously any reason you arrived 30 minutes earlier? Does Ted have to get a shot from the vet at 13h00 Hawaii time so you came 30 minutes early to leave 30 minutes earlier? If that’s your reason, that is f*cked up man. Hope is Ted is well, man. You all get any new sleeping mats from amazon.com for Ted? I would love to be Ted ’cause he must be the happiest dog alive.
Didn’t think I was earlier… Maybe bc I’m in Palm Springs and my schedule shifted a little — Ted’s the boss, and doing boss things like sleeping
I think he had to take a dump, but that’s just what a little birdy I paid told me
CMart, Pagan (8th inning yesterday), or Hendricks – rank for saves in next month?
And will we ever get updated Mondesi status before next March?
CMart, Hendriks, Pagan for me.
Mondesi seems likely done, which sucks, but I don’t know, I’m guessing
Prolly go Hendriks, CMart, but close
Hendriks, CMart, Pagan
shoulder dislocations IF he’s on the best possible side of them (which we have no idea on, probably for a while) would have him back at like the end of september at best. i checked on like 6 sources for that, only one of them had anybody coming back ever before that from those.
Hi Grey,
my “only” droppable to activate Urias from NA spot would be Bryan Reynolds …
I’d pick Armenteros over Jordan Lyles,,, awful ERA
Nick
Okay
Hello guys, I see Ian Kennedy had a good week, do you trust him over an inconsistent Neris or W. Davis ros? Thanks!
Yes, I’d have Kennedy ahead of both
Thanks, just grabbed him. Hope Grandpa Donks avoided the heatwave!
He was out doing yard work the entire weekend in the 100 degree heat. Didn’t even stop for a water break.
The Donkey is a legend.
Agree with DT
kennedy has been one of the best RP all year, it’s just a matter of “bad teams don’t get many save opps” fears (which are usually b.s., he’s finally gotten a decent amount for over a month now).
Did anyone really think Cashner would pitch great for Boston?
rotoworld had him as a buy haha
Haha, seems obvious that Cashner is likely the same pitcher he’s been for 12 years
dumb people that see ERA and think it’s a skill stat, or even wins being somehow caused by pitchers in their minds. these people exist, and some of them play fantasy.
Mornin Dt/Grey,
Y’all see Lucchesi as an own or would you stream his spot?
Staff is: Clev, Biebs, Wheeler, Paddack, Lucchesi, Gallen
For ratios do you like Munoz or Leclerc more? Leclerc seems to be coming back around over the last month. Or as a Yates owner do I grab Munoz now?
Voit or Matt “Going HAMate” Olson ROS?
Thanks friends!!!
I’d hold Lucchesi over those RPs but depending on your league depth he might be a streamer.
I’d go Olson.
Morning!
You can go Leclerc if you need saves since Kelley’s got something
Thanks guys!
It’s a 12 team, so guys like Plesac, Quintana, Marquez, Urquidy, Yamamoto are free agents.
I wanted an extra ratio arm cus I’m very close to first in ERA and seemed another good reliever could get me that extra point
Do you like Munoz over chad green? I’m guessing so due to the Yates trade speculation?
Sure, Munoz
Hunter Renfroe or Jorge Solar?
Soler

Hello Grey,
12 Team 6×6 H2H QS Redraft
Someone dropped Canning yesterday.
Please rank Canning, Gallen, Urquidy ROS.
Thanks again for your thoughts
Gallen, Canning, Urquidy for me
Thanks DT
Gallen, Urquidy
Gallen looks like he’s repeating what Berrios did with the amazing control in the minors and the BB-parade in the majors in his first cup of tea in the majors – just without all the ERs that came along with it with Berrios
Thanks Grey
No problem
My Hoskins and Marquez for his Degrom and Carpenter?
I’m looking for reliable starting pitching. This is about the time Carp turns it on, right?!
Thanks.
I’d want the deGrom side but not super confident on Carp. You’re right though, I could come any day…or not at all.
Agree with DT
I lost Woodruff and Peacock. Based on that, would you trade Dahl for Stripling. I can plug in Oneill for Dahl if I move him. Thoughts on Stripling ROS?
Not a great trade unless Dahl injures himself
Lucchesi or canning ros?
Lucchesi
Agree with Knucks
Agree with knucks
How would you rank kelly, urquidy and Armenteros ros?
That order for me
Who’s Kelly?
Merrill kelly for the diamondbacks
Urquidy, Kelly
so used to people spelling s.kelley “kelly” that he actually had to ask that. well that plus it could’ve been the catcher c.kelly (not very likely at all in that framed question, but it could be)
Yeah, I thought it might be misspelled Kelley
exactly, since you’ve probably seen it a few dozen times since march.
MLB needs to make netting from foul pole to foul pole MANDATORY..
Commish Rob says we will look at it during the off-season, fix it NOW you fuckin clown. Another child, a 3 year old was hit by a ball yesterday off the bat of Francisco Lindor sending another child to the hospital..MLB is a joke right now!! FIX IT BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED!!
Agreed, no reason to not do it
they should make him explain just why they don’t/haven’t done this before. hundreds of million dollar budgets across many teams and when exactly was the possibility of this stuff not around? he’d be better off ignoring the question entirely when asked (as they’ve done for decades apparently functionally) rather than give an answer like he gave.
There is no good reason to not put up netting from foul pole to foul pole, but the fundamental issue is that people are paying less attention to the game itself while at the ballpark. It’s not like players are hitting more foul balls than they used to in the past. Whether it’s marketing distractions, football field sized jumbovisions, or just people on their damn cellphones, how many people are actually watching each pitch?
that’s very likely true as well, so more people don’t even see the ball coming at them (or their kids); which is their own damn fault. but even having said that as a business owner you’d think it’d be in the direct interest of all park owners to just have the safety nets in place.
Borucki vs CLE or Trevor Richards @ CWS
Richards for me
Neither, Richards I guess
Would you drop one for Urias in a points league?
Didi
Dannys Antana
Laureano
Hiura
I’d try him over Didi
Agree with DT
If I may….h/h points 12 team redraft with a 5 SPer weekly lineup set .had Wheeler and Fried both on double starts , Wheeler gets IL after lineup locked & Max gets a blister and IL & still won by 53, yes Wheeler & Scherzer will be on my bench this week coming off injuries
Nice!
***bulk (non) alert***
No real bulk guys today, Brooks for the O’s isn’t stretched out fully so Ynoa is a reasonable target for unreasonable people
Thanks!
Would you rather Luis Urias or Mercado for a bench bat? 10 tm 6×6 OPS league
Mercado
Agree with DT
Would you drop one of the following for Urias?
Riley
Kingery
Hiura
Danny Santana
Also, do you like Ponce De Leon @ Pit today?
Or Voit
I’d hold.
Would only start Ponce in deeper leagues.
Riley could be dropped soon, but I wouldn’t yet
I’m starting Ponce, it’s a deeper league tho
“according to Saberhagenmetrics, no one is hitting more than 10 homers next year”
Bwahahaha….as a Royals fan during the Saberhagen glory years I get this!
1985: 20-6
1986: 7-12
1987: 18-10
1988: 14-16
1989: 23-6
2020 prediction alert!
Whit Merrifield leads the AL in HR with 19!!!
He becomes the first player ever to lead the league in total Hits, 2B, 3B, SB, and HR in the same season.
I didn’t look that up…just made it up.
Exactly!
Haha
Are you Holding Luchessi? He’s at home against SF this week.
If you had the luxury of stashing a reliever who could be a closer soon due to trades. Who would you stash?
I just tried to pick up Leclerc due to Kelley, but he’s gone
I’m holding and starting Lucchesi, especially for that matchup, though SF has been no cake walk recently. Also to answer Crime Dog’s question, its Bummer for me. Especially now that Kelvin Herrara is hurt too.
A few more… Boston is interested in Giles and Yates according to reports yesterday. If Toronto moves Giles, I would think they move Daniel Hudson too and Biagini gets a shot. If the Padres actually move Yates, which is possible but less likely than Giles being moved, then I would love to see the Padres give Munoz a shot at closing by the end of the year. Could be Stammen getting a shot for a few weeks first though.
I’m also rostering Joe Jimenez, though he is terrible (though I would look to flip him in a trade if he gets the job).
Nick Anderson in Miami.
I added Chris Martin where I could today. Shawn Kelley left the game hurt yesterday (I think?)
Hunter Strickland should already be rostered everywhere.
And the Giants have too many bullpen arms to roster them all at once, so I have a few of each here and there… but I’ll rank them Dyson, Watson, Melancon, Moronta. Keeping in mind that both Dyson and Watson could easily be moved out of SF next week too. Melancon has a bloated contract, so I could see them seeing what they can get out of him in August. He’ll blow a few and it could be Moronta after that until the end of sept.
Also watching the Pittsburg situation. Don’t expect them to move Felipe, but if they do, its prob Kela before Crick. Kela is expected to be activated today.
Holding
That sounds like a great start for Lucchesi
June 30, July 1st and 2nd…..Robbie Ray, Logan Allen, Matt Strahm….all road games for the Giants, all LHP. The Giants celebrated an early Christmas vs 3 LHPs, all on the road, by lighting up the 3 LHPs like Christmas trees. I’m not as high on Lucchesi at home v the Giants…..just sayin’
Gotcha
I will take that $1 bet.
I can now reveal that Pivetta and Gausman are actually the same irritating person. Think about it, have you ever seen them together? Maybe they are just trading places?
Coleman or Alfred?
Haha, true
Too many players on IL with iffy return dates, Brandon Lowe, Perralta and Mondesi. Worth dropping one for Urias?
Other waiver wire hot bats are Yaz, Pujols or Dyson for SB’s.
Sorry, deep league 6×6 wit OPS as extra
I say drop Lowe for Urias. And now before its too late. He should be rostered. Especially if the league is deep, as you say.

Another soothing welcome to Monday morning Grey!
H2H OBP & QS 10 Tm redraft
3 questions:
The robot is telling me to start my other 2 start guys so I’m deciding who to start this week between Marquez (@CIN) and Lynn (@OAK)- who ya got?
Next, Yordan is playing in NL park for 3 of his 6 games. As he may not play the field, worth sitting him for 6-7 games of Dahl on the road @CIN and @WAS?
Last, your catcher comparison for The French Terminator and Jansen piqued my interest as I could make that switch from Jansen. Worth it ROS?
Thanks!
Marquez, Dahl, Jansen for me
Thanks!
German
Dahl
Le Terminator
Cisco or d’Arnaud?
d’Arnaud
Agree with Knucks
Le Terminator
It sounds like Woodruff is hurt. Also Shawn Kelley left the game yesterday too, so I added Chris Martin where I could. Leclerc was already gone in all those leagues though. If Kelley misses time, it could be either one, though I think Martin got the last non-Kelley save.
Thanks Knucks, just grabbed Martin too.
doesn’t sound good for Kelley. MRI coming today i think on his biceps tendon. Woodward said “we’re hoping its not as bad as we think” ruh roh raggy.
I just tried to add Leclerc but he’s gone… Maybe it’s Martin tho, you’re right
Looking at grabbing a closer before the deadline. More concerned about a slight bump in ratios than the actual saves or K rate. How do you rank Jansen, Hader, Chapman, Hand ROS? Thanks Grey!
Ratios only? Such a difficult question to answer, but I guess maybe Hader cause he’ll pitch more innings, plus should have the best K/9? He has looked a bit iffy-er recently. I’ll be interested to here Grey’s take to this one.
Hader, Hand, Aroldis, Jansen
Meh, they’re all close… Prolly go Aroldis, Jansen, Hand… And don’t listen to Donkey, he’s currently trying to trade for one of these closers from me
BTW…Hader’s obviously best, but I worry Brewers will add a closer bc they like Hader as setup man
Any concern the Dodgers limit Jansen’s innings due to health concerns and since they obviously don’t need him until the playoffs?
Nah
Great point from Big Ticket. You should probably trade Jansen…
No thanks, Donkey Teeth!
He only cares about the ratios though!
Stop trying to bamboozle me
I’m gonna hamboozle you. Don’t tell cougs.
Don’t hamboozle me eye-thurr
Grey, better streamer?
Gallen at White Sox or
Stripling home vs LAA
Stripling
Which pair would you rather have rest of the way in 12 tm NL-ONLY 5×5 Roto?
Paul Goldschmidt and Carlos Martinez or Josh Hader and Jean Segura?
Thanks!
Segura is hurt right now I think
Goldschmidt side
Agree with DT
I could have traded Riley for Chaz Morton straight up… and I felt like I wasn’t getting enough.
Now I’m out here trading Trout for Cole and Domingo German because my hitting categories are off the charts but I’m dead last in pitching…
*shakes fist at mirror* damn you old me!
Haha, ouch
Yeah, I was hoping the Gausman start didn’t cause a run on him before the FAAB deadline in NFBC. I saw he had 10ks and was sharp in his last rehab outing so I put in three bids on him where available. Fortunately I won by one dollar in two leagues and also got him
In the third. I dropped two Heaneys and a Glasnow to do it. I finally brought myself to the inevitable. Its about that time of year where I cannot afford deadweight on my regular rosters. Go Gausman!
Someone above compared Gausman to Pivetta and I don’t disagree
Hopefully he gets on a better run than Pivetta’s perpetual purveying of mediocrity and disappointment.
Yeah, hopefully… I do think Gausman is likely less dangerous, but he’s been so iffy at times
He seems capable of going on a good run, like after the trade last year. His issue has always been consistency. I’ll take a nine week run of mostly good starts…which is more than I’d expect from Pavementa
If you had the luxury of stashing a reliever who could be a closer soon due to trades. Who would you stash?
Accidentally left this as a reply to someone above. Please ignore.
I’m stashing Biagini, Nick Anderson, Oberg, and Joe Jimenez right now.
DT add David Phelps to your Watch List and be ready to grab him when he find out about Giles. Could see the Sploo Jays spittin’ a curve at us.
SAGNOF for life!
Thanks Knucks!
Knucks answered you comprehensively above… I have Anderson and Martin stashed right now
Streamanator likes some guys this week and was curious about your opinion…
DeSciafini COL
D.Norris @SEA
Leake TEX
Thornton TB
R.Lopez MIA
Sampson @SEA
Velasquez @DET
Porcello NYY
Vargas SD
I don’t trust any of these, but would go DeSclafani, Leake, Lopez, Vargas
Also, Hittertron says I should start T.O’Neill (@CIN @PIT HOU) this week .
I can do it but it would mean I would have to bench either Cooper (@LAD @CHW ARI) or Upton (@SEA @LAD BAL)
I was planning on starting Cooper and Upton.
Thoughts?
Without knowing pitching match ups I’d stick with Cooper/Upton.
Agree with DT
I would start Oneill @PIT and sit Upton @LAD, and go Cooper, Upton for second half of week.
Thanks, guys. It is a weekly league so I can’t pick and choose. I guess I’ll go with my gut.
Deep 14-Team H2H OBP Keep 6 Forever League:
C – Contreras
1B – Hoskins, Voit
2B – Gurriel Jr, Urias
SS – Trea
3B – Rendon
OF – Judge, Yordan, Puig, Laureano, Schwarber, Braun
BN – N Lowe
IL – Mondesi, B Lowe
SP – Ryu, Beiber, Price, Ray, Wheeler, Stroman, Eflin, Lamet, Cease, Dakota
RP – Iglesias, Neris
My team is in first place and I’m considering trading Mondesi since he may not be back for the playoffs. Would you trade him for RP Chapman or some other need or is he too valuable as a keeper?
Too valuable as a keeper
Agree with DT
In a h2h points league, have a couple add/drop questions:
Drop Smoak for yandy Diaz?
Cesar Hernandez or Urias Ros?
Franmil or Mercado?
Drop Smoak
Urias
Franmil, but apples/oranges
Losers of 2 in a row in H2H, but somehow still in first place. I need big win this week against the team in 2nd place to hold off both 2nd and 3rd place (.5 and 1 GB, respectively) Here’s my current team with needs on the pitching side –
C- Vazquez
1B- Bellinger
2B- Gurriel Jr.
3B- Kingery
SS- Lindor
OF- Betts, Laureano, Alvarez
UTIL- Story
B- Benintendi, Dahl, Contreras
DL- Mondesi
SP- Hendricks, Flaherty, Lynn, Urquidy, Archer (for 2x SON loving starts this week)
RP- Hendriks, Eovaldi, Holland, Givens, Neris
I’m keeping a close eye on Kelley’s injury and going to pick up LeClerc. Is Eovaldi my first drop or keep him as a speculate on SVs and drop Benintendi for SAGNOF? I only have 6 games/weeks left before the playoffs so time is running out for Benintendi to get hot. I also hopefully have a spot opening up on Wednesday if Contreras comes back, so I plan to pick up another SAGNOF speculation or use it as a streaming spot.
Don’t think a SAGNOF pickup is worth dropping Benintendi
I’d wait until Wednesday for the pickup then — I have no faith in Eovaldi, so I guess he’s 1st drop
Yeah, I’ll ride Benintendi on my bench until after the trade deadline when the closepocolypse rolls through but his leash is getting real short. He hasn’t helped me win a week since maybe May, while costing me by killing me in BA, lack of HRs, lack of RBIs, lack of SBs, and Ks… but i guess his OBP is .340ish which is ok
I hear ya
Happy Monday!
The Trading Places reference is gonna set the tone for the rest of my week, thank you!
Got a quick one for ya; Better DL stash:
– Peacock
– Rich Hill
thanks in advance!
Ha, No problem
Neither really, but I guess Peacock
Would you cut Austin riley or mazara in a 12 team league ? I have to cut one. Riley hasnt done anything over last couple of weeks. Inciarte back and playing more than i had hoped. Mazara has been bleh all year. Thanks
Maz
Please rank for next start (see below) and for ROS:
Gausman @PHI ($0.1)
Urquidy @STL ($9.7)
Plesac @KC ($1.8)
For this week, Gausman’s matchup is the worst, but for ROS, I like him the most.
I’d go with SON there
DH questions for my AL Only and NL Only leagues..both are weekly H2H 5×5 leagues
AL: Start Soler or Jorge Polanco?
NL: Start Luis Urias or Adam Eaton
Soler
Urias
I have been using Jorge Polanco as a backup SS to Tatis. Have noticed Polanco’s numbers have faded in the last month, batting .242 in the last 30 days. Does it make sense to drop Polanco and pick up Urias for the upside?
Nah, not yet

B) Eflin has been garbage for the last few starts. Hold him and wait to see how he responds later this week vs. ATL, or drop for Lyles vs. STL and @CIN.
C) Williams’ is scheduled to start against NYM. If I were to make moves in (A), in order to keep Williams on the roster, who would you lose to stream?
D) Is it time to stash Robertson?
E) Lux is still available since he can’t be kept. Are you buying given my roster. Would you stash him in place of R. Garcia soon?

Who do you think steps in for Kelley – Martin or Leclerc?
If you had to drop one of these guys, which would you drop: Robles, Castellanos, or Conforto?

Lots of Riley questions today. I’m thinking of cutting, my league is shallow and I could use a better bench bat. Here’s my shopping list
Vogelbach, Kingery, O’Neill, Joc, Franmil, Upton. Any of these doing anything for ya? 12-team points league.
Kingery
H. Robles over W. Davis, Iglesias or L. Jackson?
Sergio Romo also available on ww
Meh, prolly over Davis, but wouldn’t make the move
Was just offered Cain for my Muncy. I like it in theory, but would have to find a new 2B and waivers looks bad. Thoughts?
I’d want Muncy, don’t think it’s that close
cain’s been really bad all year pretty much. i wouldn’t just drop in deep leagues but in shallows i have a bit ago, even if you need CF specifically. .673 OPS and 12 steals (ain’t that many really for what he’s not doing everywhere else). been better last 2 weeks, but not over last month and certainly not before that. also counting stats-wise, very weak .226 per at bat RBI + runs (and he’s hit in not bad part of lineup all year). 7 HR’s in record setting HR year is quite awful too, esp as he’s had far better than that in years with way lesser HR balls.
Dannys Antana over Urias?
Antana
5×5 Roto:
Yordan Alvarez (3 games vs OAK+ 3 w/o DH @ STL) or Nomar Mazara (Bleh) (7 games 3 @ SEA + 4 @OAK)?
Horrible pitching matchups in one league this week:
Starting Buehler and Ryu @ WAS because they are good, and 3 closers. That leaves 4 slots for:
Lucchesi @SF
Ed Rod @TB, vs NYY (horribly inconsistent this year but pitching much better lately including a decent outing against the Yankees and a dominant one against the Dodgers)
Flaherty vs HOU
Soroka @PHI
Gallen @ CHW
Which do I NOT start?
Thanks!
I guess Mazara since Yordan’s only going to play 3 games
I don’t trust Gallen
idk how you can start Jack Shizz vs. HOU
I don’t either
Please rank Yaz Riley O’Neil Desmond
thank you!
Riley, O’Neill but have no faith in Riley now
Hey Grey/DT/Coolwhip!
Nice writeup, Grey! Can you rank ROS:
Soler, Dannys Antanna, Cain, Hicks, Mercado
Like you said the other day, Grey…I really like Hicks if he could play every day. I’m unfamiliar with his usage and lazy…does he just not hit against lefties or is he in a rotation of starts with the rest of that Yankees lineup? If you could add one of those guys who would it be? Thanks!
Can you add O’Neill in with that bunch? Thanks again
Soler, Antana
Hicks plays nearly everyday in CF. and so far hes been decent vs LHP this year, but most his HRs have come vs RHP (9 to 1)
i’d probably roll with Hicks, and Soler would be second, cus hes been HotAF
Hey Grey – Start LeClerc (7 games) over Robles (5 games) for saves?
Whoops, Robles has 6 games sorry (same question though(
Meh, go Robles
if this is kind of decision that needs to be made by first gametime of today robles easily unless we see news that leclerc has that job over martin. this is without looking at matchups for these days for both teams.
Hola Grey,
2 lineup questions for you
Homer Baily @Hou, vs Tex, Efflin vs Atl or just through Bummer in there to avoid damage?
Cron or Urias at DH? Steals and Runs are the tightest categories
Thanks
Bummer
Urias
good lord it’s gonna be funny if MIL misses playoffs by some small total number of games (which seems likely if they do) then somebody shows up with the WAR numbers for hiura and shaw next to each other, then prorate the games hiura wasn’t up yet and then sent down to what shaw was doing during both of those time frames. watch it be they’d win like 2.5 or something extra games or more.
They deserve it for that
*round of applause* I was already planning on doing this if Brewers missed the playoffs for my last post of the season. So if they suck it up… stay tuned!
I was offered L Urias and Kieboom for my Lux. Hold forever dynasty? Keep Lux or do it?
Obviously no ? after dynasty
I’m Ron Burgundy?
Carter? Think you have to take him
Carter it is. Thanks?
You’re welcome?
kieboom still ranked by most highest guy. getting another pretty highly ranked guy in there as well is pretty sick. garcia has moved down a LOT at ralph’s site since preseason top list and isn’t on mike’s top 50 midseason either, but he’s free and yr already getting the highest ranked player.
mike (kieboom 7 spots higher)
ralph’s site (kieboom 5 slots higher)
oh yeah, it better not be s.kieboom the catcher. keep lux if that’s who the kieboom is.
Great weekend recap Grey!
Need to start one from the following group:
Yordan 6 games LAA @STL Hitteron $7.5
Robles 7 games Col, LAD Hitteron $13.1
Benintendi 7 games @TB, NYY Hitteron $7.4
I have lots of other team speed if it’s close between Yordan and robles.
Thanks,

interesting, wouldn’t have thought that one. unless you think mejia will suddenly just play everyday.
Will be my #2 in a 2 catcher league (w/Grandal) Kid can hit Always value your opinion, thanks dude
No problem
Would you trade Scherzer and Kingery for Yelich (10 team mixed)? My first offer of Hoskins and Ryu was turned down.
My pitching staff right now is Scherzer, DeGrom, Ryu, Berrios, Gray, Woodruff, Minor, Maeda and Marquez.
My OF is Hoskins, Domingo Santana, Kingery and Dahl.
surprised somebody would take scherzer/kingery but NOT ryu/rhysus, unless you just got lucky that rhysus has been “cold” since all star break and/or doesn’t believe in ryu (if keeper league) and/or needs steals a lot (one reason to prefer kingery)
Its a keeper league where we can keep five.
Sure
Drop canning for yarborough?
Yup
@Grey: weekly roto. need to start one of the OF this week. who do you like?
conforto – 3 vs sd, 3 vs pit
benintendi – 3 @ tb, 4 vs nyy (3 lefties though)
b reynolds – 4 vs stl, 3 @ nym
senzel – 3 @ mil, 3 vs col (if hes healthy)
thinking conforto?
Benintendi
I’d be surprised if Benintendi plays against all 3 lefties and when he does play, he’d be batting 6th or 7th – as has been the trend lately
Yeah, I know
how did you know??
Must not divulge secrets
@Grey: weekly roto. need to start 3 of the following. they all seem very similar to me. who do you like?

Grey! Whereabouts would you rank Bryan Reynolds among his fellow OFs ROS and for 2020 in a 6×6 (add OBP) 24-team dynasty league? Thanks!
Around 80 maybe
Thanks Grey!
No problem
Which side would you prefer in this trade:
Jose Ramirez, Trevor Story, Gary Sanchez
for
Whit Merrifield, Joey Gallo, James McCann, Wade Davis
Story
Garver or d’ anaud?
Also, I asked this last week but, German Marquez over Chirinos still?
Garver
German yeah
Which trade should I make below? Looking for and SS upgrade and have plenty of power
Hoskins & Hunter Dozier for Story
Hoskins, DeJong, and Lester for Story
Dozier
You sure your reading this right Grey? You want Dejong and Lester instead of Dozier? I think I would rather get Story via the 2nd option and keep Hunter Dozier.
Meh, close…But yeah DeJong/Lester > Dozier
Right on. I’ve owned zero Dejong and zero Lest, but all of the Hunter Doziers all year so I am def coming at this with some bias. Glad to hear you say its close.
Dynasty league. I have some tough decisions to make here.
I’m 3rd overall and have a legit shot at a championship. Offense is stacked and I could use some extra arms but I’m not hurting their however I am an injury or two away from being critical with arms.
Was sent two offers today
My DJ LeMahieu and Jason Dominguez For Zach Wheeler and a second
And
My Nate Pearson and a third for Sonny Gray
Would you do either of those? Both ? Neither.
Thoughts and opinions would be really appreciated here.
I’d gamble on Wheeler but it could backfire, neither are slam dunks
Lamet just dropped – Lamet or Gallen in 5×5?
Gallen
Here’s the squad (H2h points)
Jansen, Belly, Muncy, Hiura, Bryant, Segura, Trout, Dahl, Domingod, Laureano, Dannys Antana
Bench: Didi, Mondesi
IL: Eloy
Flaherty, Marquez, Wheeler, Gallen, Luchessi, Plesac, T. Richards (Streamer), Chase Anderson (Streamer)
Diaz, Doolittle, Robles
Given my strong hitting, would you drop either Eloy or Mondesi in order to pick up another starter? I know I would have a lot of starters then, but they generate the most points in my league compared to hitters. Let me know what you think.
Drop Riley for Ahmed or Munoz or hold?
Prolly Amed, but I hate to do it already
Yea prolly wait
Grey,
I am trying to figure out what would be fair trade value for James Paxton. What pitcher could I get in return for him?
Pitcher for pitcher is hard to do… Maybe gamble on Wheeler and a smaller piece?
I would love to get Robbie ray.
Meh
1 Should I drop any of these guys Voit, Pence, Heyward to pick up one or both of Yastremski and Nate Lowe?
2 Have both Lux and Tucker with only one NA spot. Hold both? or drop one?
3 Need to drop one Gallen, Beede, Urquidy, Lauer.
My teams trash so I’m about ready to do anything to make a push.
Thank you!
1. Heyward for Yaz 2. Hold Lux 3. Lauer
Mancini! I told ya, Grey. He’s the goatest of all time.
Imma let you finish but Mancini is the greatest of all time!
Best ROS reliever for a 5×5 (SV+HLD), H-2-H league? Is there a huge difference between them?
– E.Diaz, M.Barnes, And.Miller, S.Doolittle
Thinking Diaz has the pedigree to at least get back to ‘good’. Barnes has been efficient and Miller has looked solid lately. The Holds aspect of it makes me think twice about going right after Diaz.
Thanks!
Meh, no real differences, prolly go Doolittle
Thank you, sir.
No problem

Diaz, Doolittle, Robles
Given my strong hitting, would you drop either Eloy or Mondesi in order to pick up another starter? I know I would have a lot of starters then, but they generate the most points in my league compared to hitters. Let me know what you think.
Mondesi and Eloy are prolly droppable but I’d lose Mondesi 1st
do you like darvish against the giants.. i know they have been streaking lately, but hes been pitching pretty good so i thought it would be a decent start
I do like Yu
i like yu too!
Hehe
Would you trade Verlander for Arenado. I would be losing my ace.
Thanks
Yeah
Scooter Gennett – is killing me. Is he worth keeping ROS? already have Kingery, D.Santana, Jeff McNeil and Tim Anderson (IL)
Can lose Scooter
i dumped him in one shallow 12 teamer dynasty about 3 days after he came back from DL stint, but that was when i had mondesi starting. was able to nab dannys antana though so i’m still ok there.
Hey Grey, shallow 10-teamer, normal 5×5 roto, feel good about streaming Ed Rod vs Rays today (SON currently at $9.7) in a league where you are not chasing Wins or Ks but rather just looking for decent starts? Start away or avoid the headache?
Seems fair
I finally got up the courage to look at Khris Davis’s splits. He hit ten homers in April. He’s hit six since and zero in July. WTF?
one of his issues that he had (and must still) was a back thing. or shoulder (or was it both)
AND i traded for him in 2 leagues both in less than 6 weeks ago, if it’s a short term problem (i.e. rest of this season but he’ll be ok later) this isn’t good, as the 2 i did that in i don’t think he’d be a keeper in them. also have him in 2 other dynasties.
No way, that’s not true!
4 in june, 2 in may. it’s actually even worse, he’s hit only 11 since april 1st (and 5 in 3 games april 10th-12th), before that he had hit 5 in the first 7 OAK games of the season.
so outside of a total the 7 game window to start year and 3 games from april 10th-12 that’s 4 total HR’s. he’s been dealing with the back/shoulder/hand things for a while (hand is the newest one, where he should’ve been DL’d for it)
Yikes
Better Keeper for next year – Gurriel (Tor) or Mckay (SP)?
Gurriel
are glasnow and adnujar worth holding onto in a 10 team 5×5 keepers? Glasnow a 25th round pick, Adnujar mark to market based on next year’s ADP. League has 3 DL spots and currently have four guys on the DL – mondesi, andujar, ozuna, glasnow.
How many keepers? Do you have other keepers?
last week i gave you tyler beede and kevin gausman (and gio gonzalez – bleh) as good sp adds. this week im giving you ryan yarborough and reynoldo lopez. good luck.
Thanks!
np (role reversal)
Haha
I agreed 100% with your Wheeler take – I have him and am leaving him on the IL rather than activating him. In another league, I have Matz – do you know if it is his spot Wheeler would take if he does happen to come back? I could either start Matz @PIT, Happ @ MIN, Cease vs MIN, or A Sanchez vs LAD. Would you stick with Matz? I like his matchup best but am concerned with the Wheeler uncertainty.
Thanks!
Of those options, I’d start Matz
They can bump Lockett, whoever the hell that is
hehehehe, exactly.
Are we starting Sonny tonight at Miller? Robot says no. But he has been solid lately …
I wouldn’t
For one reserve spot, would you go O’Neill or Urias? Thanks!
Urias
How about Aaron Hicks? Hicks over Urias and O’Neill? Thanks.
Can try him
ROS 12 H2H with QS
John Means or Joey Lucchesi?
Same league this time hitters, pick 2 ROS.
Reynolds, Riley, Biggio, Arraez.
Thanks

I probably haven’t said how much I appreciate the site, Grey. Your analysis mixed with humor are always a bright spot of the day. Along with Donkey Teeth, I can count on solid, knowledgeable posts each day.
I usually don’t do this, and won’t call anyone out by name, but other postings here are a bit more difficult to trust. Now, hot takes are hot takes, obviously they don’t all pan out. And in fact, I see a lot of your hot takes stolen by the likes of other prominent fantasy sites (which may be why I have begun to trust them a bit more too!) haha. But for all the criticism pointed at ESPN rankings, Yahoo’s lack of care, or CBS’s lazy pilfering of real analytical data, even at Razzball there are some stale and uninspiring columns. Its hard to trust some of them, frankly. I’m not meaning to rain on any parades, only offering a viewer (reader) perspective in hopes of providing you feedback to possibly improve your overall output, or perhaps narrowing it down. Trimming the fat, as they sometimes call it.
Anyways, keep up the good work. Always look forward to your posts and DT’s expertise.
Thanks, all takes are meant as a jumping off point, you can pick and choose which advice to take…Plus, a lot of guys are trying to get a leg in the door of the fantasy industry and I’m helping them do that…
Looking to replace Woodruff:
Urquidy, Stripling, Means, Alex Young, Beede.
Thanks as always!
Stripling
standard 12 teamer, hold armentaros (could drop duffy here, but he’s my stream spot) or drop for urquidy. SON might be right though, and armentaros comes back up the day after urquidy’s next start.
I’d prefer Urquidy
Good afternoon Sir Grey!
How much do you like Zacharius Plesac? Someone is offering me Colome and Billy Hamilton in an AL Only ROTO league in which I need saves but not sure if Colome stays put..
Its close, seeing as I just nabbed Plesac off waivers three weeks ago I’m inclined to do it but hate these closers getting dealt.
Let me know! Much love!
-J
Kinda of a salm dunk for Plesac, but if you need saves and steals, it makes no sense for you
Sounds like you would keep Plesac then?
I would
Aledmys is back. What do you think of him the rest of the year?
A 12/5/.270 hitter over 162 games
Is Woodruff a hold?
Nah
6×6 OPS. Drop Didi, CSeager for any of the following? Lost Mondesi and Eloy, so just needing most impact overall ROS.
Didi can be kept in 25th Rd next year, but he is doing nothing…
If both are dropped, one pickup has to be a MI or a 3B.
Riley (just dropped)
Braun
KHernandez
Brosseau
White Walker
Teoscar
Naquin
Margot
Meh
Hot Pollock or Meadows this week? Pollock has 5 game slate, Meadows 6, but Meadows faces 4 Lefties. He may still start em all tho cuz Kiermaier down.
Also, which 2 out of H Dozier, Didi and Kingery? Dozier has 6, Didi 7 (day off today tho) and Kingery 6. Kingery seems to have slowed down.
Pollock…Dozier, Kingery
Grey, better streamer?

10-team shallow standard roto league. Currently in 1st place.
I have Hoskins on my bench or in the UTIL slot. He’s been on my bench of late, because he hasn’t been productive and I want a better AVG with counting stats.
C Sanchez
1B Alonso
2B Baez
3B Rendon
SS Story
OF Yelich, Acuna, Soto
UTIL K. Bryant, E. Rosario
BENCH Hoskins
I like to have multi-position eligibility as insurance against injuries or going with whoever is the hot bat is. Would trading Hoskins for DJ LeMahieu who is 1B/2B/3B eligible which checks the multi-position box and he’s been an R, RBI and high average machine with decent power…be a good move? If anything I gain in the R and AVG category, same RBI production and only lose some in the HR category between the two and I have plenty of power in my lineup.
Seems fine if you need runs and AVG more
Yeah…I think being in that Yankees lineup the R, RBI opportunities will be there the remainder of the year, especially when he hits for a high average and with RISP. I figure I lose about 7-8 HR’s between them.
Yup
Yep to all my points or just the loss of 7-8 HR’s? :)
Just the loss of 7-8 HRs
Someone in my league dropped Jorge Polanco. I have Newman rostered right now. Which would you prefer?
Polanco
We’d to drop someone in a 10 team H2H category league. Drop Benintendi, Jeff McNeil or Gallo? It’s a very shallow league so there are plenty of quality bats on WW( Nelson Cruz is on waivers just to give you an idea). Also, need help in the saves department….Add Raisel, Luke Jackson, Leclerc or Giles? Thanks in advance G!
McNeil — Jackson
@Grey: Hiura scratched with quad tightness. In my weekly roto, replace with Urias or Senzel or leave him in and hope its a one day issue?
Urias
Grey how do feel about a deal that involves Boyd and Benintendi. I have Benny its a 20 team head to head points dynasty. I have Benny Acuna Eloy and Robles. I also have Luis Robert in the wings. SP is real hard to come by.
What’s the deal?
Matt Boyd for my Benny
Meh, don’t love
Woodruff out 6 weeks! 12T-roto out of DL slots. Is he a drop? Tough loss if so.
Thanks
Drop
12 team 5×5 H2H (6 forever keepers)
Cain, Pollack, Renfroe, and H. Dozier are the top wire options.
My current cast consists of the following:
C – McCann
1B – Encarnacion
2B – DJ
SS – Baez
3B – Muncy
OF – J.D. Martinez, Hoskins, D. Santana
Util – Mercado, Voit
BN – Benintendi, Conforto, Polanco
Would you jettison anyone for those wire guys or stand pat?
Pollock over Polanco, then play him over Mercado when he’s playing
Move Soroka/McNeil for Pollock/Berrios?
Pollock
Hey Grey,

Hey all – need some league manager advice (10 team h2h cats). I’ve never stepped in to stop a trade (and I, like others in the league, have pulled off my fair share of robberies). In the past My philosophy has been that if someone was dumb enough to accept a trade that they should have to live with it. Here’s my new dilemma-
Earlier today a mate proposed his buxton and stroman for Giolito. The other guy accepted it. Then the bux/Stro side texted me bragging about “his robbery” and I told him I honestly thought it was pretty fair. He then told his buddies to veto his trade for him and they obliged.
He now has secured a deal of his Yuli Gurriel, Hansel Robles, and Zach Davies for Bieber.
My issue lies in the fact that he essentially vetoed his own trade after finding out it was fair.
Do I step in?
For additional context – our league has not vetoed a single trade in the past 3 years
Meh, it’s also fair… I could see if it more lopsided… That is BS tho, should be no take-backsies
Yeah I didn’t like the fact that he essentially vetoed his own trade especially since he is the one who proposed the Giolito trade.
My fear/prediction is that this trade is going faction our league into two voting parties and that trades will be voted on solely for personal reasons (as if they aren’t already haha)
Gary Sanzhez or Garver who has same R count; only 5 HR less (after today) and 12 RBI less (after today) hitting near .300 in 100 less at-bats?
