Yesterday, Logan Gilbert went 6 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 2 hits, zero walks, 10 Ks, ERA at 3.07. On the year, he has a 13.1 K/9 and 2 BB/9. That’s Fruit Loops shizz. That’s eye-popping John Lithgow in The Twilight Zone, the Movie shizz. That’s basically the best peripherals in MLB for starters. Yes, I’m thinking of Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes and Zack Wheeler. How’sever, on the Player Rater, Logan Gilbert was around the 55th best starter. What’ happened? He went down in April with an elbow flexor strain and didn’t return until mid-June. So, this is a serious question for all you fantasy baseball aficionados. All you so-called brainiacs. How do you account for that? How do you account for a guy who is basically the best in baseball but might or might not have an elbow hanging by a thread? I said might not, because I don’t know. No one knows his actual arm’s status but him, and maybe even he heard, “You might be good for the year or next three years or it might go at any moment.” So, how do you account for that? I honestly don’t know. Baseball, man, even when you know, how do you know? Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Cal Raleigh – 1-for-3 and his 39th homer. He didn’t leave all his homers in the Derby last week, i.e., Baby got back (ups).
Jacob Misiorowski – 3 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.45. He reached triple digits 14 times in 64 pitches. If he reached it ten or fewer times, maybe he wouldn’t have been pulled at 64 pitches. Mister Misio is almost too good for his own sake.
Marcus Semien – 1-for-4 and his 13th homer. They show highlights of Semien on Spurtscenter.
Jacob deGrom – 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 2.28. If he stays healthy all year, and he’s there next year at pick 30, I’d be shocked, i.e., the price about to get like my dog, Ted, and zoomie.
Adolis Garcia – 1-for-4 and his 14th homer. It’s too bad the Rangers didn’t think of being good for the first two months.
Corey Seager – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 14th homer. In his last 24 games: .333/.445 with seven homers, 20 runs, and 21 RBIs. On the 30-day Player Rater, that’s good for around top 12.
Max Muncy – Hit the IL with a fractured right hand. The Max Muncies are cursed. There’s a Max Muncy in Beaver City, Nebraska, who works at the barber shop, and he better watch how he handles his scissors.
Lawrence Butler – 1-for-5 and his 14th homer. Nickname him La-Bu and watch as a kid thinks you said Labubu and runs your ass over to grab him. Conspiracy Theory Alert! Every 20 years there’s an ugly doll craze because Cabbage Patch dolls had to be repackaged as Beanie Babies, which had to be repackaged as Labubus, and Courtney Love tried to warn you in Doll Parts but no one listened.
Tanner Scott – Headed to the IL with elbow inflammation. Missed this on Monday night when he left the game. Figured it was just Dave Roberts pulling him for Kirby Yates because Roberts fell asleep reading Yeats, as he’s prone to do. Tanner Scott wasn’t going to be the closer for much longer anyway, because the Dodgers were absolutely on the market for a closer. With that in mind, Alex Vesia or Kirby Yates are likely best candidates for the next few days until Kyle Finnegan is closing for LA next week. Oh, the Dodgers also called up Alexis Diaz which is legit hilarious. Good luck with that!
Andy Pages – 2-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 19th homer, and 2nd homer in two games. Don’t turn the Pages, leave the book right where it is.
Shohei Ohtani – 1-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 36th homer. Garbage time bombs, meaningful bombs, dropping bombs on your moms. He does it all!
Yoshinobu Yamamoto – 5 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 2.55. True story! Every time I write the “Nobu” part of his first name I get hungry.
Ben Casparius – Left the game with a calf strain. Guess now he’s de-calf.
Anthony Volpe – 0-for-3 as he was dropped to 9th in the order. He was hitting .142 for the last month. Still early!
Cam Schlittler – 5 IP, 2 ER, 10 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 4.35. I dropped him when I thought he had a biceps injury, like, last week. Well, whatever, the Yanks will acquire a starter and Schlittler will be placed in the minors indefinitely or traded.
Ben Rice – 1-for-4 and his 15th homer. I like that he has catcher eligibility, because it’s literally the only reason to roster him with how little he plays.
Cody Bellinger – 3-for-4, 2 runs and his 18th homer, 2nd homer in three games. Don’t let Cody get hot, he’ll try to smoke himself.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. – 1-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 18th homer, hitting .251. Shame he hit .151 in April because I roster him and it sucked.
Rafael Devers – 2-for-5, 2 runs, 1 RBI and his 1st career start at 1st base. Red Sox said in a statement, “No fair!” Kinda like the idea of Devers getting 1st base eligibility for next year, though I think he’ll still be overrated. People love them some zero speed, 27-homer, .270 hitters. Devers said about playing 1st, and this is a real quote, “I’m the kind of player that likes to be active, that likes to be on the field. I’d rather be on the field than in the cage hitting all the time just thinking about the next at-bat.” Lol, sure, dude.
Hayden Birdsong – Optioned to the minors. Guess his last outing was Hayden Swansong.
Wilmer Flores – 1-for-3, 4 RBIs and his 12th homer, hitting .245. Also, in this game, Casey Schmitt (1-for-4) happened to hit his 5th homer. I’m doubling them in the same blurb because they’ve both been equally bleh for a few now. Here’s to them maybe becoming less bleh.
Landen Roupp – 5 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.11. Sonavabench! But he wasn’t supposed to be good in road games and the Braves were good in 2023! Damn it! Streamonator loves Roupp’s next one, it better not be Lucy-football me. Oh, by the by (clunky segue alert!), RazzBowl’s final signups are happening today, I believe. The link to sign up is in that football post. I bet you can figure it out.
Ramon Laureano – 1-for-4 and his 13th homer, and 2nd homer in two games. I’d say Ramon Schmotato, but he’s blowing Gunnar out of the water for power. Maybe Gunnar can have whatever Laureano is sticking in his butt–I mean, supplements.
Jose Ramirez – 1-for-2 and a slam (21) and legs (30), and 2nd homer in two games, 3rd homer since the break. But Gunnar Henderson skipped the All-Star Game too and that did nothing for him.
Joey Cantillo – 5 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners (4 BBs), 5 Ks, ERA at 3.91. Streamed Cantillo in multiple leagues, because of his peripherals, but the line last night doesn’t make it easy to suggest you do the same. For what it’s Wuertz, Streamonator liked his start last night and hates his next.
Jake Rogers – 1-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 2nd homer. Fun fact! I got a captcha where Jake Rogers was pictured and it said, “Pick out the Walrus.”
Casey Mize -4 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.40. That’s three straight outings where he’s looked bad, so 3, 2, 1…An IL stint for a dead arm? Now?
Mitch Keller – 6 IP, 3 ER, 9 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.53. He does nothing but produce Quality Starts. I’m not even being sarcastic. For the first time ever.
Chase Burns – 5 2/3 IP, 5 ER, 9 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 6.65. Not trying to jinx Misiorowski, but this Burns start is what rookie pitchers who are great should look like. He’s young so it Burns sometimes.
Josh Bell – 1-for-3 and his 13th homer, and 2nd homer in two games. Bell is hilarious. He’ll be hitting like crazy for the next ten days, get traded then be one of the worst bench players for a contender. Let’s see which team gets roped in this time. I’m gonna guess the Padres.
Edward Cabrera – 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 5 hits, zero walks, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.48. His ERA if he stays on the Marlins the rest of the year ~3.50. ERA if he’s traded to a contender: ~4.75. You know I’m right.
Starling Marte – Activated from the IL and didn’t play. It’s a Marte party! (A party where a 36-year-old collects the remainder of his $78 million for not doing much.)
Francisco Alvarez – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 4th homer. I’d grab him if I were struggling at catcher. In fact (Grey’s got more!), I did and lost Pedro Pages, though now that I say that I realize I likely shouldn’t have had Pedro Pages to begin with.
Frankie Montas – 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 10 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.62. Streamonator liked this start, and hates his next one and that makes sense to me.
Jorge Soler – 1-for-4 and his 12th homer, 2nd homer of the 2nd half, and I could see a quick schmotato from Soler. It’s about all he has in him this year, sadly, because the Angels signed him.
Rich Hill – 5 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 1 K, as he was recalled. Elias Sports Bureau said, “When Rich Hill made his MLB debut, everyone who was alive is now dead. RIP.” This was Hill playing for his 14th MLB team, which is a record that no one wants. I hope Cialis Mountain pitches for the next thirty years, until he’s 100, but I have no interest in fantasy.
Matthew Boyd – 7 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 2.20. Yeah, Boyd! (I paid the nickel to Flavor Flav.)
Matt Shaw – 2-for-4, 1 run, 1 RBI and his 13th steal, as the Cubs stole seven bags off Freddy Fermin and Rich Hill. Methuselah’s pick-off move isn’t what it once was.
Mickey Moniak – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 15th homer, 2nd homer in three games, hitting .275. Feel like I have to be serious with you here for a second. In the minors, Moniak looked like 25/10/.280 hitter, who just had some bad luck being stuck behind guys in Philly, then being in Anaheim, which kills everyone. Moniak is hot right now, hitting well. No, it might not continue, but he may not be “just awful” when he reverts to his old self. His “old self” might be a roster-worthy outfielder in all fantasy leagues, and not to be cast away. The Tom Hanks by hisself one? No, Moniak’s old self.
Ryan McMahon – 1-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 16th homer, and 3rd homer since the break. If he’s hitting to try to get traded, it’s a Catch 22 because the more he hits, the better the chance the Rockies give him a seven-year deal.
Brandon Lowe – Hit the IL with tendinitis of his left tootsie. Originally said it was plantar fasciitis, but turned into tendinitis of the tootsie. The more you know!
Drew Rasmussen – 4 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 2.93. One love, but that’s kinda useless for fantasy. Move on, premature balding men and four loyal female readers.
Chandler Simpson – 1-for-3 and his 28th, 29th, and 30th steal. It’s wrong that you’re thinking he’s a steals-only guy. He’s hitting .301 and hitting leadoff. I’m thinking about making a case that he could be a top 20 outfielder next year.
Colson Montgomery – 1-for-4 and his 1st major league homer. Saw he was hitting almost .270 and thought about how he was hitting .215 in the minors and what a great accomplishment that is for Colson then as my thoughts continued in a run-on fashion I looked at his player page and his BABIP is goofy.
Lance McCullers Jr. – Placed on the IL. McDonald’s ice cream machines work more than McCullers.
Framber Valdez – 7 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.67, and Astros have won 13 straight starts of Framber’s. Was thinking he’d have to get ready to learn runner-up to Tarik Skubal for the AL Cy Young, buddy, but the AL is kinda stacked with starters. At least on the Player Rater, Framber’s around top 10 in the majors. Plenty of starters in front of him in the AL.
Brice Matthews – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 3rd homer, and 3rd homer in two games. Fine! Grab him! I ain’t above it!
Eduardo Rodriguez – 6 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 9 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 5.50. I promise you if you pick him up, his next start will be one of the worst things God’s ever spit up.
Andrew Painter – Phils said Painter isn’t guaranteed a rotation spot and they don’t plan on trading him. Not sure what their plan is for him. Maybe they think their clubhouse needs another coat.
Cristopher Sanchez – 9 IP, 1 ER, 4 hits, zero walks, 12 Ks, ERA at 2.40. Listen, I can’t do a Phillies starter as the lede every other day. They’re great, what do you want me to say? I’ve already done a Cristopher Sanchez lede. Nothing’s changed but the date.
Kyle Schwarber – 1-for-4 and his 33rd homer. Similar to the All-Star Game swing-off, Schwarber’s home run won the game for the Phils, but it was in the 2nd inning.
Max Kepler – 1-for-2 and a slam (11) and legs (1), hitting .207. He tends to get hot and hit ’em bunches like Mr. Chiquita Banana.
Richard Fitts – 3 1/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 4.86. Did you know Dick Fitts also goes by Jock Jams?
Grade the trades:
1) 12 team h2h points league keep 8
Traded Brice Matthews and Bubic for Busch.
2) 12 team ottoneu keeper (first place)
$7 Bibee for $46 Lindor. Well ahead of the IP limit pace so Bibbe wasn’t really even going to start.
Wow…Yankees absolutely butchered a couple of balls in the OF tonight – 7 errors total in the series. That’s not how you’re going to overtake the Jays, guys.
Manzardo, McMahon, Schanuel, O’Hearn or Vargas?
McMahon
That’s what the Brewers want to hear, Grey. Suarez will be gobbled up by the Empire, leaving the Crew to – as Ross says – PIVOT! to Ryan.
Pick a Matt: Shaw or McLain.
McLain
Drop Soroka or Zebby ROS? H2H pts
Zebby
I’m over here starting Taj (I haven’t had a single good game against COL or CHW this season), Max Fried, Jesus (what just happened in that game?) Slade, and a $2 FAAB for Yates in 2 leagues…
All the while my opponent is over there streaming Michael McGreevy in Colorado lol.
Make it make sense.
Brutal. Hope your luck turns.
Haha, ugh
Would you drop
Mize for Walter
Yes
Send Lugo to get Yelich?
Sure
Painter?! Coat?! Get it?!
Running though a wall like the kool aid man OH YEAH
Would u drop Eury for Misi or Burns ?
Misi
In a keep forever league, would you drop Volpe for Angel Martinez?
Yes
I have an open spot today since Anthony is out. I have Josh Lowe on my bench. I think i am better off going with an empty spot. He is 3 for his last 41 over 11 games. I expected so much more from him.
Meh, a possible 0-for-4 is better than benching a possible big game
I know. That was my way of venting
Ah, gotcha, haha
Grey,
Would you drop Sheehan to pick up Walter?
Also, drop Ozuna to pick up Brice Matthews?
Thank you!
-IANASM
Yes
Sure
Thanks!
No problem
What’s head-scratching is that a team is likely going to trade for Ozuna very shortly – possibly thinking: “we can fix him for our title quest”.
Yes, you can fix him. When your Orthopedic Surgeon repairs his torn hip flexor.
Exactly, puzzling!
This is in a 12 team 5×5 redraft btw
Are we dropping Rasmussen to stream?
Yes
Would you trade Torkelson for Kurtz in a 10 team pts league?
Yes
OBP/QS/SVHD Keep 13 Forever
Going back and forth but was offered:
Eugenio, Tyler Rogers and Finnegan
For my
Bubba, Jones and Gavin
Since we keep 13 our first round draft pick would be number 14. He is also asking for my round 14, 16 and 18 picks.
I could definitely use the offense and both RP but the three draft picks are holding me up. Is Eugenio a keeper? What do you think his value will be next year?
Would you take this deal?
C- Langeliers
1B- Alonso
2B- Turang
SS- Lindor
3B- Westburg
2B/SS- Rafaela
1B/3B- Bellinger
LF- Jarren Duran
CF- Moniak
RF- Rooker
OF- Jackson Merrill
UTL- Goodman
UTL- Butler
Bench: Kim Dodgers, Volpe, Vientos, Spencer Jones, Veen
IL: Isaac Paredes, Yordan, Norby, Thairo, Pavin
SP: Freddy P, Cease, Kirby, Flaherty, Abbott, Bubba Chandler, Gavin Williams and The Miz
Nah
Jazz’s last stolen base was on June 10 and just 10 for the season. Not what I expected when I drafted him. Figured he was a lock for a minimum of 25.
I know
M.Kelly or Eury?
Eury
Grey
So I guess the consensus is to drop Rasmussen in a shallow league
Who would you drop for
Brandon Walter even if he pitches poorly tonight against Arizona next start Washington
Cecconi even if he pitches poorly tonight against Baltimore next start @ home V Rockies
Ryne Nelson @ Pitt, @ Det
Noah Cameron home vs Cleveland
Jack Leiter home vs Atlanta
Walter
Pfaadt…GRR…draft/own him and he destroys your ratios, drop him and then suddenly he strings together fantastic starts for another GM.
You forgot the end: Has a great 2nd half, looks promising next year, and the cycle begins again
You’re 100% right. Next auction/draft season I’ll be like 10-second Tom from 50 First Dates and pick him up again.
Haha
Not to sound bitter, but every time i try to stash an injured pitcher, the plan fails miserably. I am glad to see woodruff is back, but he was so off my radar that I didn’t even think once about stashing him. He hadn’t pitched in about 650+ days in the big leagues and he had a shoulder injury. I can pretty much guarantee he woukd stink if I stashed him.
Yeah, don’t think anyone could’ve expected this from Woodruff…Simply a lottery ticket
Speaking of Woodruff lottery tickets…who knew it would only take the scorching Texas summer heat to “right” Patrick Corbin and get his ERA under 5.
Y. Diaz or Baldwin ROS? Looks like Braves are using Murphy and Baldwin @ C and DH on same days and benching Ozuna who will probably be traded.
Yandy
Do you mean Yanier?
No, I meant Yandy thinking that’s who you asked about
I would go Baldwin
Sorry, meant Yanier or Baldwin?
No problem Baldwin
Horton or Sheehan ROS points league or mix locane powder in my amulet?
Cade
Hey man, need your advice today! Would you sit or start Houston SP Brandon Walter at Arizona? Hope you respond quick, game starts in 20 minutes! Thanks!
Doesn’t seem great
Thanks!
No problem
I’m starting to believe Brandon Walter is for real! He pitched a great game today but didn’t get the win because the bullpen blew it.
I saw!
Good stuff! 10 team AL only keeper league with standard 5×5. 23 active players, 7 reserves with rosters similar to LABR/Tout. $260 auction budget, can keep up to 15 active guys and 3 reserves. Only active players count against auction budget; reserves are drafted separately.
How would you rank these keepers after this year (with their remaining contracts AFTER this season):
Carson Williams (free reserve next season then $15, $20)
Gleyber Torres ($6, $6, $11, $16)
Ben Rice ($6, $6, $11, $16)
Kerry Carpenter ($10, $15)
Thanks!
Carpenter, Gleyber, anyone, Rice
Does Matt Wallner have any juice for a 12 team roto with OBP instead of BA? While Fangraph’s Roster Resource has him sitting against lefty pitching, when you look at his splits, he is actually hitting better against lefty pitching than against RHP, lol. And it appears really not in a platoon situation. I have Tanner Scott to drop as it’s likely he will be replaced by LAD at the trading deadline.
Not really, he sits very often
ROS
Butler, Tatis and Julio
https://razzball.com/top-100-for-the-2nd-half-of-2025-fantasy-baseball/
Profar or Roman Anthony ROS points league?
Profar
Grey rebuilding in a 12 teamer… keep 6-10 and 12 farm.. would you trade Ragans for Jeremy Pena and Pablo Lopez ?
Sure
Hey Grey! I wanna add an SP for the stretch run. Would you target Gilbert, given his mix of awesome + elbow, or someone more boring and steady like Merrill Kelly? I don’t think anyone in our league is gonna hit IP limit this year, so getting volume w decent ratios goes a long way in our pitching cats. Gracias!
Depends on the price, no?
Keeper league, so I’m gonna offer injured Paredes who can be kept another year, to a team that’s out of it, for an SP who can’t…
Ok
Would you start Colin Rea today vs Royals at Wrigley
Sounds fine
Please rank Mize Littell Soriano
That rank looks fine
NL only who is the drop out of Baty, Vientos, and Garcia Jr?
Vientos
In 2022 the Phillies traded Moniak and Logan O-Hoppe to the Angels. What did they get out of that? Noah Syndergaard and Marsh. I give the Angels a lot of crap, and the Phillies seem like one of the smarter organizations, but that’s terrible for the Phillies.
Yeah
Hey Grey,
I asked about Harper for a #1 or #2 a few days back, but in trade talks with the guy that has deGrom, Gilbert, Cristopher Sanchex, Miz, Glasnow, and Ranger, he only offered me Ranger. Not gonna happen. I pivoted to another fella who has way too many pitchers and bad offense and offered Yelich for Joe Ryan and it was accepted.
1) Is that fair? I feel very good about the return. Current staff would be:
-H. Brown
-Ryan
-Cease
-Strider
-Ohtani (P only)
-Burns
-E. Perez
2) Would you keep Harper now? I was hoping for Sanchez or Gilbert from the first guy. Are either of those options fair for Harper? I’m worried about innings limits for Perez, Burns, and Strider, and I’m worried about Brown running out of gas after the last month.
Thanks!
1. Sounds solid 2. They’re fair for Harper
Taj, Roupp, Cameron in a Keeper, I am leaning Taj what say you Sir?
Taj
G:
Saves/Holds
Is it time to drop Jason Adam?
Reed Garrett and Bryan King are both on waivers.
Thanks Mr. Albright!
King
Hi Grey,
12-team keeper 6×6 with QS and K/9. I’m just barely still in contention. Someone offered me
Glasnow and Bednar (both expensive for next year) for
Ragans (cheap for the foreseeable future) and Grant Taylor.
I should make this deal, right? Try to win now, even though I feel like this will only get me to fourth place (my usual spot)?
Sure if it’s for next year
Between Mis and Rasmussen I got a QS!
Hahaha
The Stankees should trade for McMahon for 3B and bandbox jollies. Ryan would weep happy tears for the change O’scenery.
Who do you think is AL MVP thus far? Maybe Dumper over Judge?
Judge, it’s not close
yeah in numbers easily.. but Cal is an elite defensive catcher, invaluable to team’s success, who will probably set the home run record for catchers.. he’ll get a lotta consideration
Judge is invaluable to Yanks success too
he certainly is Ollie
Ha
I’m lapping the field in all pitching categories and need Runs and SB. Thinking of offering Justin Pena and Skubal for Elly. Thoughts?
Elly
I saw Elly traded for Skenes and Bichette recently. Seems similarish.
Yeah
I have Langeliers and Sal Perez. I could drop Langeliers and add an SP and put Perez in C.
Pick up Clay Holmes, Eflin, Sandy Alcantara or stream haha.
Hold?
Stream
Grey,
Re: today’s musings – as George McFly says (as he’s feverishly writing down in his little black notebook): “this is good stuff.”
Re: Josh Bell – hopefully SD should have learned their lesson from the 2022 Dog & Pony Show. Time for a new sucker, I mean, contender to take the bait.
Re: “Bizarro” Grey from yesterday…I’m newish to the site…does this guy pop up often? And how is he allowed to have a “Grey” handle on Razzball? That’s blasphemous. Like Highlander has taught the world – there can be only one…
Bizarro Grey was me, I just happened to not be logged in lol
HAHAHA…I thought it was some balloon head pretending to be you for amusement.
Haha
It was weird because that Grey also had a profile pic. Looked like Eric Karabell with a very fake mustache.
I bet you can guess why it looked like that
Nearing the playoffs and needing to make tough decisions to stay competitive. Maikel Garcia carried my team for a little while but has gone missing in the last month besides providing hits and a few runs. Would I be foolish to drop him for streamers? (Have Westburg as my main 3B and mixing other guys for steals)
Are we hoping for a resurgence or moving on?
Seems fine to drop
Have two open spots. Otto, Angel, Ivan and Ramon available. Who would you grab?
Otto, Ramon
Looking for two starters to earn me a win and not blow up my ratios:
Kremer vs COL 7/25
Ryne Nelson @ PIT 7/25
Littell @ CIN 7/25
Taj vs CWS 7/23
Kikuchi vs SEA 7/24
Luzardo vs BOS 7/23
Which two?
Kikuchi, Taj
Hey Grey. As I know how interested you are to hear about my team (13-team league, 6×6 with OPS and Holds, QS instead of Wins): I just accepted a trade of Tucker for my Carlos Rodon and Palencia. The trade analyzer values Palencia at -$6 so I don’t trust its opinion.
I have a sizeable lead on the rest of the league in Saves (22 ahead of 2nd), so I’m fine with moving a closer. I also have a sizeable lead in Ks. Losing Rodon will likely hurt my chase of QS and battle in the ratios, but I have banked every bit of his 124.2 IP to date, and I feel good about that. My other SPs are: Eovaldi, Ranger Suarez, Gilbert, Glasnow, Olson. 1400 IP cap.
I’ll spare you more details but I’m leaning toward adding another Holds guy with the empty spot I get from the 2 for 1.
What are you asking?
Sorry. I guess I was wondering if you approve of making the deal? I like Tucker and all but I could see some validity to the point that a lot of his production came earlier in the season. Also, what you think of my staff without Rodon? I know Eovaldi and Ranger were in a recent sell. Eek!
Ah, yeah, I like the trade for you…Staff seems fine
Hi Grey,
Good Morning.
14 team league with BB
Currently have Stephenson as C, and Ozuna as OF.
Part 1
I have been offerred very cheaply Rutschman and Bryan Reynolds for a next year pick.
If accepted, I will drop Stephenson and Ozuna.
Or should I continue to hold Ozuna? Do you trust Rutschman coming back?
Part 2
another option is to get OF Jasson Dominguez and drop Ozuna or Laureano.
and Add from FA Catcher Jeffers?
WHat do you like best?
thanks,
Chris
1. sounds good for you
thanks. Shuld I drop ozuna or Laureano? for Reynolds.
Ozuna
1) Is Casey Mize droppable? Would you rather have Cecconi or Walter ROS?
Cecconi today
Cecconi’s got the O’s at home today and the Rockies at home next, if that helps
Is Riley Greene for Devers fair in an OBP league?
Sounds fair
@Grey: weekly roto redraft. Have room for two bench bats. Need sbs, runs and avg most. Who do you like from this group: T Freeman, Moniak, Jac C, Angel Martinez, C Durbin, Hye Seong Kim and Caratini.
Thanks!
Moniak, Angel
Best option rest of season 1B Walker, Steer, Burleson or Vargas
Burleson
16 team, H2H ESPN, Keep 12, 11 pitching categories – IP, ER, K, QS, W, L, SV, HLD, ERA, WHIP, k/9
Have Efflin scheduled to come off the IL today. Who is the drop to activate him, or is he the drop?
Other SPs are:
Manaea, Senga, Chandler, Qintana, Cameron, Houser, Kershaw, J. Lopez, Ryne Nelson.
Same league, 11 offensive categories – AB, H, R, H, RBI, BB, SB, AVG, OBP, SLG, Fielding Percentage
Agustin, Freeman, Arraez, Bregman CJ Abrams, LoGuJu, Scott II, Trout, UTIL – Josh Smith
BN Ozuna
IL – Santander, Keaschall
Drop Ozuna or wait to see if he gets traded to a contender/better lineup for a change of scenery.
If he is healthy next year, would he be a keeper, so cant drop him?
Adolis Garcia was recently dropped, and is the highest owned/probably best player on waivers. Others available include Correa, N. Lowe, Vientos, Polanco, Durbin, McMahon, Isaac Collins,
Same league, manager wants Manaea, offering Aranda and a mid round pick swap of some sort for next year. Worth it based on my roster, or not enough benefit for this year? Seems like Aranda is sitting a bit too often and hasnt done anything since the break.
Thanks!
If Adolis (Collins, Vientos, etc) is on waivers in your league, Ozuna is droppable — Aranda sounds fine there if you need him but it looks like you need Manaea more than Aranda
Thanks!
Any thoughts on Efflin v. my other SPs?
Who would be your top 3 of the listed available hitters? At least 1 is on waivers until tomorrow instead of FA.
Rather drop Ozuna to activate Efflin?
I was leaning no on the Manaea trade, so thanks for the confirmation!
I don’t trust Eflin at all but your arms are a mess so I guess over Lopez
Collins, McMahon at home, Adolis
ROS and Keeper League consideration
LuBob or Betts?
Betts
Grey,
I’m with you on Logan Gilbert…I’m just thinking ahead to the offseason and keepers (we keep 8 in our league) and there aren’t many SPs I feel confident keeping at all. I could keep Gilbert or Woo but the arm issues this year for Gilbert and last year for Woo scare me (IIRC, Woo was leaving every other start early…it was strange).
I know pitchers are inherently risky but aside from Skubal, Skenes, Crochet, Wheeler, it feels like they all have their warts. Makes me want to just keep all offense but that may be an overreaction, what say you?
Depends who the offense is
Ohtani, Witt Jr., Caminero all obvious.
The rest are Seager, Harper, Riley Greene, Schwarber and final spot would be a tossup. Could be Freddie Freeman but he’s aging. Also have Snell, Lodolo, Luzardo, Bubic, Robbie Ray as alternatives to Gilbert/Woo for that last spot.
Worth mentioning this is keep-by-round so the pitchers were drafted late and could be kept later than Gilbert for instance.
I don’t know the rounds obviously
Schwarber
I held out hope that rasmussen was going to be usable after the break. 75 pitches yesterday. He will have to be super efficient to go 5. Walter or cecconi over Rasmussen? Thanks
Either Walter or Cecconi works for me, but depends on matchups
Chase Burns has a .400 babip. Better days should be ahead, but he does seem to be prone the hr ball. His park will not help with that.
Yeah
Moniak or Cowser ROS?
Moniak
Langeliers, Fran alv, or Baldwin at catcher?
Baldwin
Rank the following, ROS:
House
Jung
Vientos
Baty
j.Smoth
Polanco
Baty, Smith, Polanco, there’s no ROS for these guys
gm Grey
for the Phil’s, seems like the right approach to painter the rotation is hot now why bring him up? 6 man rotation throws everyone off and hate to see a starter in the bull pen
how about the walk off E2 against boston the other day i have never see catcher interference to end a game before.
gm lenny — I saw the catcher interference walk off, so crazy
You think all Phillies SPs are great, eh? Well, don’t look now … Nola’s on his way back!
for sure you never know which Nola you get or if they score any runs for him. thanks for reminding me i kinda forgot about him lately.
Oh no!
Harper/Barger or Vlad/Sean Manaea ?
Vlad
The Rockies are just so sad. They are probably going to botch the McMahon trade, wait too long, and then teams just go, meh, not worth the ask.
They should try to flip Moniak, Bird, anything they can but they likely wont.
This was the team that had Doyle go 2-4 on Saturday, then gave him Sunday off to start Yanquiel Frenandez.
Doyle then went 2 for 4 then 3 for 4 last night which means probably needs to hit the bench. Hitting .284 last 30 days and .538 last 7 but you know, we gotta cool this hot streak off.
A team running around with Farmer, Arcia, and Nola really doesnt deserve that much thought because they arent serious.
Sneaky good game for Mayo. 1-1 with 3BB. He only had 6 until that game. Was really laying off stuff and wondering if he tweaked approach. We will find out when he starts again next week.
I am hoping TB does something with their rotation. Boyle and Seymour were #1 and #2 or #1 and #3 for Ks in the minors or at their level. Now both chilling in pen being long relief just feels so wrong.
How can CLE be so unfathomly bad at finding an OF? When Kwan was out I was watching a game and 2 of their 3 OF had a BA well below .200, might have been .160 and below. Go talk to the Rockies and can Moniak, Beck, and some guy in minors because I swear Rockies only draft SP and OF.
Birdsong truthers going to have to eat bir…crow.
Rouppdog.
Rockies really are the Angels of the NL, just in a worse park for pitching…Guards seem like they’re ready to sell off, not buy
Jeez, they really did bench Doyle. Going 5-8 last two games wasnt enough.
Tigers got me scared. Regression fairies hitting all at once. Is there a term for a group of them? Flock? Murder? Gang?
Sigh
Hahaha, a murder
Do you prefer Brice Matthews over Ha-Seong Kim?
Yes
Bibbee or Roupp?
Roupp
Looking at 2-start FA for next week. Logan Allen Taylor (vCOL and @NYM) maybe worth a shot in a 12-teamer?
First one sounds fine, 2nd doesn’t seem great
Yeah, that’s my conundrum. I probably need to sit two/three of:
LATaylor (vCOL and @NYM)
EdCab vNYY
Cecconi vMIN
Roupp @NYM
Walter @BOS
Schlittler @MIA
Bibee vMIN
Joe Boyle
Which two/three should I sit?
Who is LATaylor? Am I having a brain fart? Boyle, Walter ?
I’m going to guess it is Logan Allen, middle name Taylor.
Yes. Good guess Vin. I screwed up his name in my first question, and it carried forward to the follow-up. My Bad
Dynasty league, I’m not close to contention this year and wondering if I should start playing for next year.
Would you trade Jacob DeGrom and Josh Smith for Ceddane Rafaela?
Thanks!
deGrom side unless I’m missing something with prices
Unfortunately, can only keep 1. Which bench bat would you rather have. 5×5 OBP
Ivan Herrera or Chandler Simpson
Chandler
Heya Grey. Looking at infielders for ROS in a 14 team 5×5 Head to Head Category. Holding my own in steals but struggling in runs&HR. To that end would you rank McMahon, Baty, Matthews, Vargas, Caballero? Worth dropping Cab for any of the others? Thanks!
McMahon at home, Baty, Brice, McMahon at away — can lose Cab
Hi Grey,
Do you like C Rafaela or Matt McClain more ROS?
Would you trade either one for Grant Holmes?
Ceddanne
No

Very nice! Thanks, Vin!
Angle Martinez is just hot right? Nothing has changed in his profile this month….
Seems like Martinez might be more
Small sample but Bruce Matthews statcast is what we expected which is only 20abs…
he sort of reminds me of Lawrence Butler last year.
Except he makes awful contact
Grey!!!!
Awesome!!
Rodney Dangerfield quote of the day for July 23, 2025
Thornton Melon: What’s your favorite subject?
Bubbles: Poetry.
Thornton Melon: Really? Well, maybe you can help me straighten out my Longfellow.
Cheers,
Ante
