I started both Freddy Peralta (7 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.81) and Jesus Luzardo (8 IP, 0 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.14), then I prayed. Not to any ordinary God, of course. I prayed to the Fantasy Baseball Overlord, and he said, “I’m currently away from my phone, but if you leave a message and why your team sucks, I’ll try to get back to you as soon as possible.” I told him in whispers, “FBO, I drafted Luzardo and FreddyKBB as my aces in separate leagues, sometimes in the same league, can you please help them realize–” Then the beep sounded and it asked me if I was happy with my message. So, I prayed again multiple times and tried to speak faster to get my whole message on his stupid machine–“This is the Fantasy Baseball Overlord,” he bellowed. “How dare you insult me or my answering service!” So, no thanks to FBO, but Luzardo looked like the ace we drafted. He had a month last year of 5.92 ERA and you still drafted him high this year. What I’m saying is he’s capable of rattling off months of Cy Young behavior, and I could see buying low, if that’s still a possibility. As for FreddyKBB? His stats look even better than Jesus’s: 11.1 K/9, 2.8 BB/9, 3.27 xFIP, unlucky this, unlucky that. I’d buy low on him too, if possible. “This is all my doing!” Okay, sure, FBO. [eye roll] Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Jazz Chisholm Jr. – 1-for-4 and his 7th homer, hitting .254. Based on everything I know about Jazz from the player and not the Ken Burns documentary, I can’t help but think he’s due for a 30-day IL stint.
Xander Bogaerts – Fracture in his shoulder and plans to play again by late-summer. I’d say late-August, early-September, but I am merely a guy who one time slept in a hospital bed outside of a bar because I was too drunk to drive.
Luis Arraez – 4-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 1st homer. He likes to think of a home run as four singles, so he went 7-for-5.
Jeimer Candelario – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 5th homer, that’s his 2nd homer in May, and I, honestly, have no idea how a guy can play in Great American Smallpark and hit so few homers, but then I see all Reds hitters, except Elly. Has the wind been blowing in in Cincy for the last two months? An undertow? What’s going on?
Tyler Anderson – 8 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.52. Went to look at Streamonator and Tyler Anderson’s player page for his stats, and both are telling me if you start him, you might have marbles between the ol’ earlobes.
Hunter Brown – 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 7.06. His numbers still look like shizz Brown.
Masyn Winn – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 2nd homer, as he hit leadoff. Also, I think Nolan Gorman homered for the Cards, but then was benched, and I’m not sure what day the Cards/O’s series is on, so hard to say.
John Means – Left yesterday’s start with elbow soreness. That Means. Dot dot dot. Trouble.
Austin Riley – Did not play yesterday. Posts from the future: Austin Riley, who has missed the last 59 days, was placed on the 60-day IL backdated to mid-May. He’s eligible to come off tomorrow, July 14th, but with the All-Star Break, the Braves are taking it slow.
Justin Steele – 6 1/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 5.68. One thing to get the Braves hitting? The Man of Steele! I would try not to drop Steele, but I also wouldn’t start him. He’s clearly not right. My guess is his mechanics are off.
Max Fried – 9 IP, 1 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 9 Ks, ERA at 3.38. His ERA since his 2nd start of the year is 2.04 in 53 IP. Zoinks! Maybe Max is not fried, lowercase.
Marcell Ozuna – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 15th homer, and has 46 RBIs, leading the majors, but multiple guys are on his heels. Better than on his bumper when he’s driving.
Matt Olson – 2-for-5 and his 7th homer, 2nd homer in four games. Wonder if he can still get to 40 homers (challenging him because I’m smart).
Nelson Velazquez – 1-for-2, 2 runs and his 4th homer, 2nd homer in a week, and in just yesterday’s game he was subbed out. Appropriate that he took over for Edward Olivares, because he’s treated exactly the same way. Olivares, Sean Bouchard and Velazquez to start a new team, the Vegas Castoffs. Their unis dress them up to look like Gilligan and their home run celebration is being hit over the head by their manager, dressed like the Skipper. Very new and hip references.
Cole Ragans – 6 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners (3 BBs), 12 Ks, ERA at 3.34. We have a top 100 starts page, and Ragans is the type to have multiple entries while occasionally having the massive, unforeseen blowup.
Tarik Skubal – 5 IP, 4 ER, 8 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 2.25. As someone who doesn’t have Skubal anywhere, I support Regression Fairies and their Prop 8 for regression.
Jared Jones – 6 IP, 3 ER, 9 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.05. How good has Jared Jones been? So good, that a Quality Start like yesterday was the worst he’s looked.
Bryan Reynolds – 2-for-5, 4 RBIs and his 6th homer, hitting .251. He’s like Kyle Tucker but lousy. Just the most boring hitter you could ever roster. Once a week a homer, never gets hot, just straight bleh.
Matt Chapman – 1-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 7th homer, and one of the hottest schmotatoes in the land. Absolutely in this week’s Buy column, available already on Patreon and Friday here.
Blake Snell – 3 1/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 11.40, as he was activated. I am howling at how bad he’s been. He’s taking the whole “Cy Young One Year, So Freakin’ Awful For Five Years” thing to a whole new level.
Brayan Bello – 6 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.04. Gave up three runs early and I chucked my computer into a swamp screaming, “I got a lemon!” Later, fishing it out I saw he made lemonade.
Wilyer Abreu – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer. By the way, Devers didn’t homer, so who wants to put Dale Long back in deep freeze?
Ryan Pepiot – 4 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 3.98, as he was activated from the IL. He’ll be all right, but ya think they might’ve wanted him to rehab a few times after missing two weeks?
Yandy Diaz – 1-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 4th homer. This is the first time I’ve thought about him in a positive light. He’s been a stinker so far, huh? Not to answer but to ruminate.
Josh Lowe – Headed for an MRI on his side. That sounds so, oh, bleak.
Christian Walker – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 10th homer, and 2nd homer in as many games. He was routinely taken rounds — rounds! — after Vlad Jr. Can you understand why? Does it make any sense?
Ketel Marte – 2-for-5 and his 10th homer. He has five homers in May, and five in April. June awaits its five homers.
Ryan McMahon – 2-for-6, 2 RBIs and his 9th homer, and 3rd straight game with a homer. All on the road, because up is down this year.
Triston McKenzie – 5 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.44. Told someone yesterday in the comments to either start McStickzie or drop him, and that’s the deal with some guys. If you can’t start a guy vs. the road Mets, you should absolutely not be rostering that pitcher. Not sure who’s telling people to be interested in Triscuit Have-a-McSnackzie but he’s been MehKenzie for a while now.
Andres Gimenez – 1-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 4th homer. Got a little revenge against his former team for being traded. Mets fans don’t care they got Carlos Carrasco and Lindor. I hear they’re very pleased.
Jeff McNeil – 1-for-4 and his 3rd homer, and 2nd homer in as many games. Hot schmotato, sure, but also the Mets might think about moving him out of the 7th spot in the order and switching him with Lindor at leadoff.
Pete Alonso – 1-for-4 and his 11th homer. Albombso!
Harrison Bader – 1-for-3 and a slam (2) and legs (7). He was hit by a pitch, had words with McKenzie — maybe yelled at him to eat a dessert or two? — then Bader came back Mad’er and got his revenge with a Ding Dong, which McKenzie should also eat. Who are you, Kate Moss the pitcher? Eat something!
Jose Quintana – 6 IP, 3 ER, 4 hits, zero walks, 4 Ks, ERA at 5.13. First five innings, he looked like Jose QuGrom, then turned into Jose Pumpkina.
Adam Ottavino – 2/3 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 3.79. My instinct that Reed Garrett (1 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 1.04) would get the most difficult innings (yesterday, pitched a tied 7th inning) wasn’t wrong, but much like Michelle Pfeiffer’s womb in Scarface, the entire Mets’ pen is polluted now and Ottavino didn’t look much better than Edwin (in a non-save shituation, but still).
Bryce Harper – 1-for-4, and his 12th homer, 2nd homer in as many games, and he’s now a father of 12.
J.T. Realmuto – 2-for-5, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer. You could put Edmundo Sosa in that Phils’ lineup and he’d be good. Oh wait:
Edmundo Sosa – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 2nd homer. Phils have the best record since 2001 Mariners through 50 games. In related news, sales of batteries in Philadelphia area at all-time low.
Corey Seager – 2-for-3 and his 8th homer, 3rd homer in last three games. Hey, maybe don’t freeze Dale Long again so quickly!
Aaron Judge – 1-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 14th homer, 3rd homer in a week. Judge, jury and executioner of baseballs!
Alex Verdugo – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer. What gives when Dominguez returns? Gotta be Verdugo, but he’s really not been bad. Verdugo to any team for a reliever? I don’t know, doing some speculation here.
Juan Soto – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 12th and 13th homer, hitting .313. 110/40/125/.320/15 and Hal Steinbrenner gonna answer his phone from Boras with “New phone, who dis?”
Nestor Cortes – 5 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.29. Nestor the New York Jon Lester!
Cal Raleigh – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 11th homer, hitting .219. Not bad for a giant ass with ankles.
Bryce Miller – 6 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.53. Not great, but Dipoto said, smiling, “We’re exactly at .540 winning percentage.”
Jake Irvin – 6 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 hits, zero walks, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.79. Go to the Streamonator and type “Irvin” into the Name column and it likes Cole Irvin better than Jake, and it never likes Cole.
Joey Meneses – 2-for-4 and his 2nd homer, hitting .234. I’m old enough to remember when people thought Meneses was good, because I’m not less than one year old.
Simeon Woods Richardson – 4 2/3 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 2.57, and pulled at 77 pitches because Baldelli is begging Kevin Cash to watch his highlights and approve. Gosh, Baldelli is such a pick me.
Carlos Correa – 1-for-4 and his 4th homer, and 2nd homer in three games. Think Correa is rostered in too many leagues, but if he’s available anywhere, Carlos Correa clearly caliente.
Max Kepler – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 4th homer. Watch, he’s about to go off, and make me look stupid, because the universe be conspiring to make me look stupid on the daily, but I swear I get more comments asking about dropping players and the odd man out is always Kepler. Prior to this game, he was barely a top 300 player on the Player Rater, but, in fairness, he was doing well on the 30-Day Player Rater, and on the IL in April, so maybe Kepler hasn’t been that bad. Ha, I just convinced myself of Kepler’s worth in 150 words. Forgive me. I have sinned, to the Max!
Bo Bichette – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 3rd homer, hitting .233. Take that, BDon!
Tommy Pham – 2-for-4 and his 3rd homer. Trying not to focus my eyes on Bo Pieceofchette having the same number of homers as Pham, who has played in 20 fewer games.
Martin Maldonado – 0-for-4, hitting .089. That the White Sox let him hit for the final out is so freakin’ funny. Maldonado gonna think twice about signing up again this winter for Javy Baez’s Hitting School.
Eloy Jimenez – Hit the IL with “being Eloy.” White Sux called up Zach DeLoach. Known for his speed and batting practice band, Cage Against The Machine and his song, Hitting in the Name. Now they do with they told ya — HITTING COACH! Now they do with they told ya — HITTING COACH! Now they do with they told ya — HITTING COACH! Now they do with they told ya — HITTING COACH! You justify those ducksnorts that died!
12 team redraft h/h points .. weekly
Am I suppose to say yes or no ….get Clase …give Gil/J Duran RPer
No
Are you buying the heating up of Thairo? HRs going to sustain? Will SBs finally appear?
Thairo Estrada or Tyler O’Neill?
Evening grey.
Varsho or Andy pages ROS?
Tia
Varsho
Go Jays!!
Gotta say Id been expecting a little more from Ryan O’Hearn’s run of starts this week against RHP than 2/13 with 1 RBI. GIDP with the sacks full just now, jfc.
Yeah he finally got some love from the fantasy community. Those good statcast numbers don’t count for anything in fantasy. 16 rbi as the Orioles #3 hitter on most days just ain’t cutting it
Ha, yeah
Could you name a couple of pitchers that would be a fair offer for Luis Robert Jr?
It’s what Trade Analyzer is for: https://razzball.com/trade_analyzer_mlb/ — it’s free
Take whatever you can get before LuBob comes back. He won’t be healthy long. There’s nothing to play for on a sinking ship. He’ll be looking to bail for the ROS with his first chance at a hangnail.
Would you still stick with Springer over Happ,Pham, or Joc Pederson?
Thanks!
I’d try Pham
Hey Grey, could you rank these three utility bats Nate Lowe, David Fry, Wenceel Perez? Thank you.
Alec Burleson should have been included in that group also.
I’d try Burleson first
Fry, Perez
Yo Grey! Those Luzardo and Peralta lines were exactly the type of results I was hoping to see. So hooray for us. Huzzah!
Esteury Ruiz was placed on the IL. This is relevant to me as I haven’t dropped him yet and can instead kick that can further. If only I were this reluctant to drop Stott!
Which has be wondering: This is a 10-team 6×6 with OPS and Holds. Do you think Noelvi Marte is worth stashing on the IL? If so, I could add him before grabbing an active replacement (I think I’d have to add Marte tonight when FAAB runs, then grab another player the next day after I’ve put Marte in an IL spot).
My bats look like this:
C O’Hoppe
1B Walker
2B Westburg
3B Devers
SS Bichette
INF Naylor
LF Yordan
CF Bellinger
RF Tucker
OF Kepler
Util Turang
Bench: Pages
IL: Friedl and Ruiz (one open)
Would you still recommend Davis Schneider as an add? Looks like he’s been cold. Other options include Luke Raley, Matt Chapman, Eddie Rosario, Matos, Pham, Nootbaar, Taveras.
Also, total speculation, but do you not like Turang? His 18 SBs are top on my roster and his .310 avg doesn’t hurt. I have Westbrook at 2B and Bichette at SS, so assuming they are both playing, I would generally look to play Turang at Util to get his speed in there.
Q1 – stash Noelvi?
Q2 – Add Schneider, Luke Raley, Matt Chapman, Eddie Rosario, Matos, Pham, Nootbaar, Taveras
Q3 – your opinion of Turang
Thanks!
1. Sure 2. Chapman 3. He’s fine for SBs
Have a struggling Yainer at C and Fry is still available. Should I make the move or hold?
Make move
Hey Grey. Who do you think is the best ir stash for after the all star break or next season. I have an open ir spot available. McLain. Langford. McClanahan. Woodruff. Bautista thanks
Wyatt
Thanks. I was torn between him and McClain.
No problem
Stanton or Lane Thomas? I need HR/SB/AVG.
Lane
Of course the Rockies are the ones who get to Mason Miller just like we drew it up. And, the inherited runner all score too. Why not jut let him try to get that last out.
You would think that game was at Coors in the summertime the way it’s going.
Yep and the guy who got the last out and allowed the two inherited runners to score gets the W.
Wins are such a terrible stat for fantasy for so many other reason beyond this
Haha
Yordan through May of last year – 14/48
Don’t get me started on Acuna. I think managers are in for a disappointing year drafting him #1. Zero signs of breaking out and Statcast is abysmal.
Yeah, could be
Was asking before the year started who was the last player to repeat as the top fantasy player in baseball consecutive years? Rarely if ever does it happen. My picks were Witt or Soto preseason. The Jury is still out.
Yeah they could still
You checked out this Estrada cat for the Padres yet? between aaa and bigs he’s got 37 ks in 20.1 innings.
reads a lot like suarez. darting 98 fastball that plays really well at the top. the slider and the splitter don’t appear to be great pitches on their own but work well with the heater. commands the fastball well. looks like he’s solidly the 8th inning guy. got a save when the padres gave suarez the 8th to face the middle of the line up
yeah he’s been used over matsui for about a week or just over. been adding in deep spots (not crazy deep spots) for the last week or so (16 – 20’ers with 6-7 RP slots) but if he holds the 8th inning he’d be easily addable in much shallower holds spots.
oh and he just went 2 innings (both good) today, so he’s got possible length (like slaten on BOS, but he’s got c.martin in the way, but also has SP for those that want to use extra SP slots for holds guys)
5 ks in his two innings today. didn’t look unhittable but, definitely solid.
Absolutely, looks fantastic
Would you rather have Elly or Seager ros in a pts league?
Elly
Giancarlo’s been bouncing to and from the wire all year in the ol’ (12 team) H2H. He’s currently on it. Should he just be owned? He’s not exactly lagging in the dinger stakes…
The ROS Rater is certainly not feeling him, for context.
Yes, owned
ROS rater, with guys that have expected missed time, like stanton, always use the per game numbers. his overall ROS is like low 2’s but his per games are over 14, he’s the 95th ROS hitter (29th OF) by per game numbers, and this is only for 5×5, if OPS or total bases it’d be even higher than this. the only reason to NOT use the per game is if you have limited IR slots.
Pick up for Util spot: Burleson, Buxton, Verdugo?
Burleson
this is what buxton has become, what 2 days after hitting 2 HR’s he’s behind burleson, a guy pretty sure 3 weeks ago grey wouldn’t necessarily say is an add in NL only (from playing time issues 3ish weeks and longer ago, not discounting him being an iffy add when he was barely playing, in fact he was owned/dropped/owned/dropped routinely in NL onlies (10 teams) before early may or so). verdugo also has been doing better than in years or it seems such. burleson’s batted balls are finally not finding a glove about every time (his metrics have always been good at hitting the ball hard)
Yeah
Hi Grey,
1) For ratios and strikeouts would you prefer Hunter Harvey or Jeremiah Estrada?
2) Same question for but for saves this season.
Thanks!
1. Estrada 2. Harvey
Thanks!
No problem
Awesome write up!
In a 10 team OBP league with max 40 moves (14 used)
1) who would you pick up from: I need hits and OBP help and have an open roster spot
LaMonte Wade
Luis Matos
Max Kepler
Dylan Moore
Lars Nootbar
2) I could also drop Wyler Abreu or Pages for another one of the above. Would you drop and for who from above?
Thansks
Should have said Bryan De la cruz is available on the WW as well, do you prefer him over any of the other guys?
Cruz is better than anyone mentioned
Thanks! 1. Wade 2. Pages for Matos
Two multiple-injury guys – who’s the better IL slash: Nolan Jones or Josh Lowe?
Jones
Austin Riley – Did not play yesterday. Posts from the future: Austin Riley, who has missed the last 59 days, was placed on the 60-day IL backdated to mid-May. He’s eligible to come off tomorrow, July 14th, but with the All-Star Break, the Braves are taking it slow.
This was beautiful! HAHAHA
Thanks!
Grey the delco girls are still buying plenty of batteries…..they need them
Haha
Hi Grey,
1.Is it time to move off Jo Adell? Would you pick up Starling Marte and drop Adell or look for other hitters on the waiver list?
2.If Cristopher Scott pitches well tomorrow vs SF ( his next start are at home vs LAD and AZ), would you pick him up and waive Cristopher Sanchez or LItttell (whose next start is home vs OAK) or even dropping Joe Adell and pick up Scott?
Note: Scott is 96 on MamosDad’s List
Littell is 93
Sanchez is 67
After reviewing the list, I am not sure.
Thoughts?
Does Scott have any significant upside as the season progresses?
Thank you as always!
1. Yes, Marte 2. Sure, over Sanchez
Thanks! have a great day!!
No problem
If Shawvwer ever figures out where the ball is going when it leaves his hand, he’s going to be trouble.
Yeah, 100%
Who is the drop out of Gasser, Stone, and Pfaadt?
he’s gonna say gasser here.
Gasser
Neto MI replacement? Winn, Caballos, Wenceel or Luis Garcia?
Garcia
Riley out today. Hard to believe.
Ridiculous
Grey – trying to package O. Cruz and Randy for an OF. Is a 2:1 for Adolis paying too much? What caliber of player should I be going after given both of their performances so far…or hold?
Seems like a bit much unless this is a very shallow league
12 team, H2H categories with OBP.
That’s not very shallow
In an 8 team 3 OF league – should I trade Teoscar (my #3 OFer) for either Ragans or Shota? My #3 outfielder would then be Castellanos and would have to play the wire for a 4th for backup. Not sure what to do. Thanks!
Seems fine, Shota 1st
Hey Grey,
Trade Seager who has started to come around to get JRod?
Works for me
Hi Grey,
1. Would you start or sit Flaherty at home vs TOR?
2. who has more upside ROS Royce Lewis or Josh Jung? Both seem expected to be back in June. Is that what you have heard?
3. Thanks for telling me to hold on to McMahon!
4. Thoughts on Robbie Ray, Kodai Senga or Jeff Springs in a Yahoo points league. are any of them top 20-30 SPs. Are they all expected in June? Would you use a regular slot to grab one of them?
thanks
1. Yes 2. Lewis 4. No hold
Thanks for this input. Yes means start. Am I correct?
Always appreciate all your hard work and input!!
Yes, start
Thank you!
No problem
Nice to see you come around on Fried!
We shall see
haha!
Smiley emoji
where’s the troll guy, fried is maybe his best example of “grey’s always wrong” (i’m not saying that but if he wants to cherry pick certain guys, would seem fried would be top 5 at worst), he shows up about every 3 days under a different name, was around late yesterday (on musgrove, who hasn’t even been good, when not injured)
like today on lange, just got demoted, “inexplicably” there we go.
Drafted Case and Pepiot this year and got trolled by Chef Reactions for doing it backwards.
Haha
My current pitching sitch is:
P Jeff Hoffman
SP Ranger Suarez
SP Michael Kopech (eligible)
SP Jesus Luzardo
RP Robert Suarez
RP Tanner Scott
B Shota
B Yu
B Kirby
B Christian Scott
Who are you dropping if anybody for Baz leaving the IL?
Baz is back?
He’s reinstated and optioned to AAA aka cannot be kept on the IL
Ah guess drop him
Seems crazy to even ask, but Edwin Diaz or Brewers Megill ?
Diaz
H/H points ROS …. Volpe or Abrams
CJ
H/H points 12 team redraft .. start 5 SPers per week ..1 RP ….
Have J Duran as my RP…
SPers rostered
Webb
Kirby
F Peralta
Ragans
Gray Rod
Pivetta
Bry Miller
L Gil
Bradish
Trade is I get Clase or C Holmes give Ragans
Hold
Grey,
Would you trade either Bichette or Masyn Winn to get Anthony Volpe
Sure, Winn
He wants Winn and either the martian or Luis Robert for Volpe
No
i laughed at him and shot that down
cool
i did make a trade. I traded Luis Castillo ($31) and got Zack Wheeler ($26). How did I do?
Nice!
sounds fair right?
It does
thanks for the help
No problem
Bryce Harper’s wife giving permission to have an open marriage is working out great for my fantasy teams!
Haha
Is Loperfido a drop? Played in 1 of the last 5 and just 4 of the last 10 games.
Yes
Sup Grey! Awesome column as usual! I have been holding onto Junior Caminero with no N/A slot, and wanted your thoughts on dropping him or Josh Smith for Matt Chapman.
Hold him if you can…But Chapman is clearly better rn
OTS and I were all over Meneses this preseason!! Turns out it was just ant flo (sorry!) Master Lothario wasn’t having any of it!
HA
Here for the accountability
Hey Grey, shallow roto league, likely matchup dependent but can you rank these SPs moving forward (in a vacuum) please? Bassit, Bibee, G Stone, Manaea, Paddack
Bibee, Stone, Manaea
Guess what team has scored the 2nd most runs in the month of May?
Not cheating….KC?
Yessir!
Ah nice
Second best home OPS in baseball, third worst road OPS
Ah, interesting
Only better home OPS? Stros.
A’s
10 tm standard… drop 1 SP…
P.Lopez
G.Rodriguez
F.Valdez
C.Rodon
T.Bradley
R.Pepiot
S.Gray
L.Castillo
Framber
Glasnow is starting to become the king of letdown starts
ha
Better bet to bounce back: Arozarena or Castellanos? Is Winn a better fit in my UT spot than either of these? Thanks.
Randy
Hey Grey
Better stream for tomorrow?
C. Sanchez @ Col
L. Allen @ LAA
Or neither?
neither
Good morning Grey,
For an add, who do you prefer long term.
Clarke Schmidt
Alec Marsh
Thanks
Schmidt
1. Drop J Turner for either of Baty or Vientos? I know not good options I’m hurting for a 1B/3B lol.
2. Pickup Dejong or Neto for Julien at all? I’m sure it’s a downgrade but just wondered if either of those guys would be better options.
1. No 2. Meh
i would for vientos but only if you see him starting more than 2 days in a row against a righty. if you see baty get sent down do that immediately.
Trade Edwin D. for Jeff Hoffman and Mark Leiter Jr. 23 team dynasty 5×5 thank you!
13 team dynasty
Nah
Good morning Grey-is C.Sale & A.Bohm a fair offer for Soto?
Sure
5×5 OBP 12-team– am I insane to want LaMonte Wade Jr. as my starting 1B?? Maybe back to strong side platoon but the on-base numbers have been insane and 1B is a barren wasteland (alternatives are Bell, O’Hearn, Fry, Santana, Singleton, Joe, France, Tork)
He’s a top 100 player for OBP leagues, not insane
Caballos, Winn, Wenceel or Luis Garcia as a MI replacement for the injured Neto?
Jared Jones or Ragans for a 6×6 roto ROS. We use both Wins and Quality Starts. Jones probably on a IP limitation.
Ragans
Do you think Pablo and Ragans are close for ROS? Contemplating a trade. Pablo’s underlying numbers look like he can go on a roll. It looked at last season and he had a 4.11 ERA through May. Ragans underlying numbers look good too. Difference could be the WHIP with Ragans having more control issues.
Prefer Lopez, but could be similar
Gil, Gore, Bassitt, and Pepiot – who’s the drop? Like Dave, I watched Bassitt yesterday against the White Sux and was not impressed. He looks cooked but he’s looked cooked before…
Bassitt
Bassit’s upcoming match-ups are really weak for the next month…. gonna ride it out.
Gotcha
J Ryan & W Langford OK for J Rodriguez? Roto Lg with Pitching scarce.
Yes
Speaking of ruminating have you looked at Steer?
What a mess
Are you optimistic about Julio turning it around? Would you trade Glasnow for him?
Losing confidence daily…I’d take him in a trade and hope
Think next year I’m going to avoid all Seattle offensive players, the ballpark and lineup is a major buzzkill
Yeah, it’s not a bad idea
Randy, Dansby and Luis Garcia Jr
Or
Josh Naylor and Andres Munoz
Keeper forever OBP league
Naylor
Ducksnorts? Woo or Luzardo in a dynasty? Thanks, Grey!
Woo
What are your thoughts on Bassitt? He pitched a shutout but didn’t pass the eye test for me. Looked shaky and gave up some hard contact early. Do you think he’ll eventually turn it around? He’s got the track record….unless this is that Berrios season from 2022 where everything went wrong for an unknown reason.
His numbers look bad, not sure what’s up, he looks off
He looked frustrated with every pitch that was off the plate. Which happened often. Lost his command…..or control…..I always confuse them.
He’s lost his command, maybe it’s mechanics
Please rank Matos Rengifo Abreu
Also loved the Austin Riley comment!!
Thanks! Rengifo, Matos

2. Saturday would you rather start
Severino v SF
Pivetta v MIL
Olson v TOR
3. Is Brandon Marsh a 12 team streamer for Series at Coors?
1. Yes 2. Yes 3. Sure
Severino the best of those 3 starts?
No, Pivetta
Thank you
No problem
Would you start Olson at Tor?
Thanks!
Sure
Thank you!!
Hey Grey,
Playing for next year in my 12 tm mixed keeper obp/svhd.
Got a deal on the table:
I give:
Corey Seager (cant keep)
Pivetta
Yandy
I get:
Naylor (11 for next year)
seems a bit much to give for naylor but whats your thoughts?
Works for me
Seager goes yard three straight days… Rangers: better rest him.
Ugh!
Ugh
Did you see the video about Bryce Harper helping a guy ask a girl to prom?
I didn’t
I just reposted it to @Razzball
?
I found it! Thanks!
Hilarious…Bryce seems like such a good dude
My pleasure!
yeah its pretty funny. Even more funny the girl hugged Bryce first. Haha.
In a 12-team H2H, my OF is a mess. I have Arozarena, Castellanos, Nootbaar, and Merrill. I do have Lane Thomas returning soon. Should I drop any of these for options like Wilyer, Kepler, or Masyn Winn (could use him at UT)? Thank you!
Winn
12 Team H2H 6×6 OPS Redraft
Paredes or Albies ROS?
Thank you
Albies
Pickup Luzardo or Steele for either of Kikuchi or Bibee? Leaning towards no, but wanted to know your thoughts.
Luz for Bibee
Time to move on from Pages as a bench bat in 12 team redrafts? He’s been brutal the last couple of weeks. Have to think he might be sent back down soon.
Drop for Gelof, Correa, Happ, E. Rosario, Fry?
Correa
Would you drop Mount for Correa?
Nah
Yes
AJ Smith-Shawver starting today at Cubs. You starting him on your fantasy squad?
Nope
Verdugo is a big part of the Yankees clubhouse. They love him and his large chains for some reason—i would be very surprised if they traded him. Judge and Giancarlo are both due for an oblique injury soon anyway. I know Dominguez has upside but he was good not great in the minors and then came up and had a good 8 games. As a Yankee fan im keeping my hopes tempered.
Ha, yeah, I dont know tbh
Was just offered Yordan for Imanaga and Arozarena in 10T. Smash accept right?
Remaining SPs would be Gausman, Ragans, Jared Jones, Framber, Woo, Ober, Gore (streamer)
Yordan!
Yordan
See the ball, hit the ball. No brainer.
I an a Cubs fan so i may offer him myself, but Imanaga is also my only Cub :(
Points league, please rank these SP starts:Luis Gil v SEA/CastilloRodrigo Lopez @ PIT/KellerPivetta v MIL/ReaBuehler @ CIN/GreeneBradley v KC/Wacha
Gil, Pivetta, Lopez
Grey, 14tm h2h, which side would you prefer? Bryce Miller/Joey Ortiz or Westburg/Fairbanks?
Ortiz
Would you hold Bogaerts in a 10 team redraft?
I dropped him, but I guess it depends on your IL spots.
If he isnt back until late August, early September, how much benefit is he going to be.
I have 4 IL spots, currently filled by No. Jones, Evan Phillips, deGrom, and Lodolo…..kept those 4 over Bogaerts.
No
Grey
10 team roto
Pages has been awful in last 14 days batting .128/ 4 runs/ 3 RBI’s
last 7 .160/ 3 runs/ 3 RBI’s
would you drop him for
Burleson
Jake Meyers
Winn
Joey Ortiz
Nick Gonzales
Wencel Perez
Yes, Ortiz, depends on needs tho
Gotcha
I pretty much need all offensive categories
I like Ortiz
Would Burleson be your next pick?
Sure, try him
Don’t look now, but I think the post ASB 2023 ELDC has returned with a vengeance. His 2023 post ASB OPS was .626. His 2024 May OPS is .610. Yes, he has 12 stolen bases. But that’s it. Why am I getting a Billy Hamilton vibe?
I find it weird that Elly has so many dedicated haters
because they’re the same people that overpaid for him against grey’s advice, and now when he swings downward want to remove themselves from having paid what they paid, blame the hype of other people.
Yeah, but a 30/90 pace does the job
Love the Eloy blurb. Believe it or not I already had a RATM thing written up for Bryan Woo for Monday too! Haha!
Haha, nice
The Josh Lowe blurb was hilarious!! I traded Gil for him…not so hilarious…could you rank these catchers…Campusano-Langliers-Elias Diaz and Herrera-Fry…thank you! 13 team dynasty 5×5…
Ha, ouch…Fry, Shea
Hey Grey! So our number one pitcher, the Lone Ranger Suarez, is starting @COL this weekend. We can’t NOT start him, right? but we can’t start him in COORS, can we? Help, before my brain melts thinking this one through!
I’m not Grey, but I am pretty sure that you start Ranger wherever he pitches.
I am also not Grey, but I second this comment.
Save your stress for true dilemmas. He’s been the #1 pitcher in baseball, and the Rockies offense is not one to fear. START Ranger everywhere. End of discussion.
Start him until further notice
Col is so bad that you should start everyone there.
12tm H2H pts IP Ks Whip HRs
Picking up
Marsh @ Min vs SD
King vs Mia @ KC
or both?
Both
How would you rank them (both need to clear waivers)
King first
Corbin Carroll hasn’t even stolen a base in 5 weeks.
April 17 to be exact. But he has been caught twice. I’ve had him on my bench since before the calendar flipped to May. I think the D’Bax will put him on their bench too. Enough is enough.
I know, he’s been awful
Almost Two months in….and so many good pitching….
I am still waiting for the hot weather to really happen, but two months in…..
Ha, yup
Brayan Bello….
This is who he’s been since I’ve had him in fantasy. A guy people who should be better, but he’s always a mid 3 era pitcher to 4 era with slighlty below k per innings.
I don’t get what he’s done that peopel go wild over?
His stuff is better than a mid-3 ERA
Yeah, having Riley not on the IL killed me this past week plus. Just like come on Braves, why? It means 1 less production in a spot…sigh
I know, awful
Luzardo’s effort was good enough to put him on the Best Fantasy Starts list for the first time. Ragans did make the list for the 2nd time, and he does also have 3 starts that would be ranked below 1000.
34 Cole Ragans May 22 vs DET
38 Jesus Luzardo May 22 vs MIL
57 Cole Ragans May 17 vs OAK
Yup!
Fried scored his 2nd top 10 entry on the Best Fantasy Starts list!
8 Max Fried May 22 @CHC
10 Max Fried Apr 23 vs MIA
62 Max Fried May 11 @NYM
He’s been so good since that 2nd start
Went to look at Streamonator and Tyler Anderson’s player page for his stats, and both are telling me if you start him, you might have marbles between the ol’ earlobes.
Checks out. I streamed him.
HA
Grey!!!
Awesome!
a. Yesterday was up-and-down but I did start all 5 in my RCL and it was positive overall despite Snell and Miller because I snagged 3 wins (Bassitt hound, Bello and Luzardo), good Ks and even shaved the ERA and WHIP. Thank you much, again.
b. In that 5×5 roto dynasty with no IP limits, start Flaherty at home against Toronto (Gausman)? Maybe the BlueJay bats are alive?
c. Chris Rock quote of the day for May 23, 2024
Anyone who makes up their mind about an issue before they hear the issue is a fool.
Cheers,
Ante
A. Yup B. Start
Ak-sualy, home Mets are the tastier matchup.
ok
