The NL MVP race seems to be shaping up to be between two guys. Yesterday, that race shaped up as they shipped out balls. It’s between Shohei Ohtani, the every-year MVP and Ed Sheeran– Sorry, being told that is not Ed Sheeran. That’s Pete Crow-Armstrong. They both lit up the scoreboard yesterday. PCA went 3-for-5, 4 RBIs and his 25th and 26th homer, and Shohei Ohtani (3-for-5, 3 RBIs) hit his 25th and 25th homer. PCA and Ohtani are hitting roughly the same in average (Ohtani .297 vs. .288) and OBP (Ohtani .399 vs. 386); PCA has him in steals and fantasy value as a hitter by a considerable margin, if we take out pitching. Can we take out pitching to compare them for fantasy? No, right? It does get messy if you add in pitching though, because then do you remove Ohtani’s hitting stats while he’s a pitcher? Think you must. Can we take pitching out to compare them for the NL MVP? No again, right? And that’s less messy, because in real baseball you’re not removing the hitting stats when you add in the pitching. For NL MVP, is a half season of pitching worth more than PCA’s full year of defense? I don’t know. I am seriously asking. It’s going to be a tight race for NL MVP, and it should be. By the way, been listening to the Ohtani podcast on ESPN. I have it clear as day in my head what happened now. Spoiler alerts ahead if you care. On the pod, they play a convo between Ippei and the reporter, who is breaking the story, Tisha Thompson. She’s on the phone with Ippei coming clean, and Ohtani’s handler. That last bit is the key part. Ippei says Ohtani wired money for Ippei’s gambling debts, and his handler is listening and going along with it. At some point, after that phone call, Ohtani’s attorneys heard what these idiots were doing and were like, “Bro! Bro! Bro! You cannot wire a bookie money! Ippei had to rob you, it’s the only way this gets you off,” and with that the Ippei story of him stealing money was cracked. I don’t think it makes Ohtani a bad guy for lending his friend money, even if he technically broke the law by wiring a bookie money, but Ohtani clearly wasn’t robbed. They were on the phone with a guy who was there to protect Ohtani. You don’t think that guy might’ve said something if Ippei was lying? Ippei fell on the sword after the fact, because he was the one doing the gambling. Glad we cleared that up! Now give the NL MVP to…whom?! Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Dalton Rushing – Partial tear of his UCL, and unlikely to catch again this year, i.e., there’s no Rushing him back.
Eric Lauer – 4 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 4.89. Welp, the Dodgers will now turn to Snell, then Glasnow. Dodgers have more starting pitchers than Lou Bega had mambos.
Max Muncy – 1-for-4,3 RBIs and his 22nd homer. Max is the Munciest!
Shota Imanaga – 5 IP, 1 ER, 8 hits, zero walks, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.60. Hate to say it but I see this and I can’t help think, “He’s just about at 3.50 ERA, when he turns around and makes a beeline towards 4.30.”
Marcell Ozuna – Released by the Pirates. Hopefully he walks the plank in a straighter line than his DUI arrest.
Endy Rodriguez – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 7th homer, and 2nd homer in two games. Hot schmotato alert!
Paul Skenes – 5 IP, 3 ER, 6 baserunners (4 BBs), 6 Ks, ERA at 3.96. Four walks is not him being fixed. I would start him every time out, because you drafted him in the first round, live and die by the poison that is “Not listening to Grey.”
Kyle Harrison – 5 IP, 0 ER, 2 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 2.84, as he returned from the IL, but left with cramps. If he knew it was that time of month, he could’ve waited to return.
William Contreras – 1-for-3, 2 runs and his 11th homer. Mean’s while, his brother left the Sawx game with an illness. Looks like Mommy Contreras only has to make arepas for one brother today.
Hunter Greene – Underwent an MRI on his elbow. Oh, just that chestnut!
Matt McLain – 1-for-3 and his 9th homer. Someone get BDon on the horn! Horn! I said horn! BDon, stop humping the area on your fantasy team where it says M. McLain.
Lawrence Butler – 1-for-4 and his 7th homer. I thought to myself, “Butler’s been solid now for a month, right? Because people have been asking about him.” So, I went to look at his last month and I’m not sure anyone’s been worse.
Tyler O’Neill – 1-for-3 and his 9th homer, and 2nd homer in two games, 3rd in a week. Hot schmotato alert, sure, but they also refuse to play him vs. righties.
Trevor Rogers – 6 IP, 2 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 9 Ks, ERA at 4.20. “Did someone say 420?!” That’s Cody Bellinger. Rogers had the cushiest matchup in baseball. “Did someone say Kush-iest?” Stop, Cody.
Coby Mayo – 2-for-4 and his 15th homer. Mayo is hot (rancid).
Jose Siri – 1-for-3 and his 6th homer. With Soler DFA’d, Siri might get some playing time, and he could be more than a personal assistant built right into your phone.
Andrew Kittredge – 1 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 4.05, as he got the save and Cano worked the 8th, as they flip-flopped roles from last night, and I take back what I said about the O’s being smart to use Cano as their closer. Smart compliment? Revoked!
Luis Arraez – 1-for-5 and his 5th homer. In his old stadium, that would’ve been a line drive over the 2nd baseman’s head. Wow!
Caleb Kilian – 1/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 4.93. Welcome to Philly! The batteries hitting your head can be used for remote controls, alarm clocks, power tools, you name it!
Andrew Painter – 4 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 6.48, as he left with hamstring tightness. “Painter with hamstring tightness? Try laying on your back for seven years painting a finger!” That’s Michelangelo.
Bryan Woo – 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.31. A long overdue Woo.
Julio Rodriguez – 2-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 17th homer. Daylight Savings Time is one hour, what’s “the 2nd half started a few weeks ago” time? Can JRod reset his watch?
Colt Emerson – 1-for-3 and his 8th homer, hitting .199. It’s actually impressive the M’s kept playing him. Maybe impressive isn’t the right word. Stupid?
Dillon Dingler – 2-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 25th homer. Wonder if Dingler being in Seattle acts like a Bourne Identity moment and Cal Raleigh snaps out of it and is like, “Wait, that was me!”
Tim Tawa – 3-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer, and 2nd homer in three games. Hot schmotato alert!
Mitch Bratt – 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners (3 BBs), 9 Ks, ERA at 3.90. Bratt summer is long over I thought. He has a 6.8 K/9 and 5.9 BB/9. Joey Chestnut wouldn’t even touch that Bratt.
Casey Mize – 3 1/3 IP, 8 ER, ERA at 3.40. Now, I dize inside.
Fernando Tatis Jr. – 1-for-4 and his 9th homer, hitting .280. Trying to stay positive, “Fun The Jewels!” Plasters smile on face, the smile’s crease looks like it actually hurts. Yay!
Joe Ryan – Being re-evaluated for [covers mouth, someone mumbles a made-up issue]. He says he’s fine and Twins said, “No, you’re not.”
Noah Cameron – 8 IP, 1 ER, 3 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 4.37. Now with 8 IP, 0 ER, 7 Ks; 7 IP, 0 ER, 8 Ks and last night in back-to-back games. So, it took the Royals until July 24th to fix his mechanics? Embarrassing, but looks fixed, which is great news! I’d grab him to see if he can continue it.
Steven Cruz – 1 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 4.29, and his 3rd save, and he’s converted three straight, while only allowing one run in one of them. Ha, I know. Incredible vote of confidence for the new Royals’ closer, but appears that he has the job now. I dropped Lange yesterday while also saying, “Why the hell do you have Alex Lange?” I turned to the mirror and added, “I can’t be mad at you!”
Will Warren – 5 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.18. I wouldn’t trust him against the worst teams at home, so that’s a no from me dawg. Or nodawg, if you’re in a rush.
Andre Pallante – 5 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.63. LuGaJu and Heliot must be like, “Wow, so it really is just us, huh?”
Bryce Elder – 7 IP, 1 ER, 1 hit, 2 walks, 3 Ks, ERA at 3.69. Three sixty-nine is not how the Lord intended! It’s sick! Sick, I tell ya! Any hoo! After a few weeks of being gunshy where I was benching him, Elder went back into my lineup vs. the MIA Marlins and I was rewarded. Yay me. Streamonator says he gets the Mets next, and that sounds fine to me, too.
Wilyer Abreu – 2-for-3, 3 runs and a slam (20) and legs (7), hitting .254, and third homer in two games, hitting 3rd for the 1927 Red Sox, who are never losing ever again.
Sonny Gray – 6 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 2.78 vs. Sean Burke – 4 1/3 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 3.08. Grey likes Burke. Not Gray, they’re opponents. Rawr! Vicious enemies! Won’t share the same field, except to rip out each other’s eyes! Or, ya know, head nod as they pass each other. Mean head nod though! Me, Grey, likes Burke. This was just an awful matchup, and I wouldn’t start anyone but the top guys in Fenway vs. the Sawx right now.
Trey Yesavage – Hit the IL with knee inflammation. Without bad luck, the Jays would have zero.
Jameson Taillon – 4 IP, 3 ER, ERA at ERA at 5.96. Was interesting seeing Lauer and Taillon both pitch yesterday. It was like last year’s World Series, except in bizarro land.
Jesus Sanchez – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 8th homer. “He’d be kinda interesting if he could actually walk on water and stop fronting!” That’s Judas seeing Jesus hit.
Ernie Clement – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 9th homer. Nine is also how many positions he’s eligible at.
Jose Altuve – 2-for-5 and his 13th homer. 13 is also the age he stopped growing.
Hunter Brown – 6 IP, 3 ER, 5 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 3.53. Trying not to see the bad here, and trying to focus on the good. He had five hitless innings and an average exit velo of 81.8 MPH. Though, the team he faced was completely uncompetitive.
Junior Caminero – 1-for-3 and his 33rd homer. So, what you’re saying is Juco Loco is a 60-homer hitter in Coors. Got it.
Nick Martinez – 5 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 6 hits, zero walks, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.65. And this was in Coors. Gonna start calling him Jesse Pinkman, because he always has me screaming, “He can’t keep getting away with this!”
Brandon Nimmo – 2-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 12th homer. Nimmo found one!
Cody Bradford – 4 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at as he was activated from the IL, after Tommy John surgery, like, two years ago. Wrote a Cody Bradford sleeper post about two years ago (oops!), and I do like him a lot. He’s one of those pitchers who excels, because he has excellent command. Or did. Tommy John surgery hurts a guy’s command at first, and this matchup was vs. an incredibly awful lineup, so I guess monocle or Streamonator, but I can’t trust Bradford yet in most mixed leagues.
Christian Scott – 5 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.15. He looked fine, decent, but can we please talk about Jefry Yan’s strikeout celly? I showed Cougs and she was like, “Is that the kid who played Michael Jackson in the movie?”
Jorge Polanco – 2-for-4 and his 2nd homer, hitting .144. He has two homers on the year! I’m sorry. People be going to the Mets and taking advantage. Like they know no one cares about winning so they’re just there to collect a paycheck and do nothing. They need a culture change, badly.
Brett Baty – 1-for-3 and his 7th homer. Again, culture needs changing.
Carson Benge – 1-for-5, 2 runs and his 13th homer, and 2nd homer in two games. Not sure if he’s available anywhere, but hot schmotato clearly.
Angel Genao – 4-for-5, 1 run, 1 RBI as he was called up and played 3rd. Pretty impressed with how effortlessly he was about to knock those singles. Don’t get me wrong, they were singles. He barely tapped some of them. But still impressive! How did he play 3rd though? Not how was his glove. I mean, is Jose Ramirez injured? Is it bad? Has anyone heard anything? I liked what I saw from Genao (went over him in detail yesterday), but what’s going on here? I see JRam has wrist inflammation, but is it bad? Because if JRam returns then where does Genao play? Still fairly confused about their plan. So, do I like Genao? Yes, the player and the salami, but how is he playing if JRam is healthy? Is JRam healthy? I’m repeating questions, aren’t I? I have repeat questions, y’all!
10 team dynasty head to head
6×6 obp
Kurtz, Jacob Wilson, k milbrandt
Or
M Vargas, Langford, delauder, angeibel Gomez
Trade deadline day offer! 10 team 5×5, keep 6 forever. I’m in last this year so this is entirely for the future. Got offered Wetherholt and Neto for Rafaela, Tucker, and Melton. I have plenty of other keepers so the 3 for 2 is fine. Thoughts?
Hopefully not too late.
Do you like Endy or Michael Busch? Endy has 1B in Yahoo.
Thanks,
LG
Would you take Ras for Cruz? Is it enough?
I don’t know what you’re asking
Would you take Rasmussen for Cruz? An owner offered me Rasmussen.
Read Cruz hasn’t even started a rehab assignment, so at least another week away. Not sure if he’s worth holding or trading.
Need to add a player after some guys went to the IL, who’s the add out of these options?:
Brooks Lee
Meidroth
Ildemaro vargas
Jackson Holliday
Colt Emerson
Andrew Vaughn
Larnach
Monasterio
Endy Rodriguez
Goldschmidt
Joc Pederson
Not great options I know but having some injuries put me in this position lol, thanks!!
You can add Tim Tawa to the list if that changes anything lol
Chase Meidroth
1 IL spot. Should I keep Ryan or Glasnow? Probably not relevant, but Glasnow would be a cheap 2027 closer (Ryan would be expensive).
Or n/a — lose both.
Glasnow
Hi Grey, two streaming questions please, neither pitcher is also an option.
1) Roki @ Ari. or Drohan vs Min.
2) Leahy vs Col. or Montero @ SF
Drohan
Leahy
Better long term solution: Jeffers or Endy? Seemed silly to ask until I noticed Endy playing first base and stealing bags. Twins sitting Jeffers a lot but really like his talent.
I have Soto, Bux, J Walker and J Ryan with only one IL spot on this league. Good times
Jeffers
8 keeper league (but still fighting for fading 2026). Lombard or Xavier Edwards.
Lombard
Grey
I am finally throwing in the towel on Bryce Miller
1) Who are the top 2 you prefer
Weathers home vs Seattle
Elder home vs Mets
Lowder @ CHW
Gasser Home vs Min
Wesneski @ SF
Holmes @ NYY
Drohan home vs Min
Dobnak home vs Cubs
2) are any of these guys not streamers
1. Weathers, Gasser 2. meh
I hear the Meh loud and clear Lol
Haha
Miller with 5 baserunners, 3 ER in the first inning. Fastball topping out a shade over 96. Can I jump the Miller train, adding Cameron, without fear of recrimination?
Ha, sure
Thanks–having been slow to the wire (dealing with an ultraconservative co-manager who’s extremely trade- and move-averse, cutting off another possible source of quality pitching), I hit the button to execute, then asked myself in a moment of panic: WWGD! :-)
HAHA, fair question
With H. Greene going down, who to replace him: Bryce Miller, Framber, Cameron, Weathers, Chandler, D. Peterson? Who would be your top two picks?
Also, do you prefer Webb or O’Brien as a RP in a Saves/Holds league?
Thanks!
Weathers, Cameron
O’Brien
Thanks! Always enjoy reading your daily notes!
Thanks!
Trade Dealine is midnight tonight……..I need to keep one and try to trade the other….we use IP instead of K’s….who do I keep and who do I trade out of Fried and Woo?
Keep Fried
H2H points league better option ROS Delauter, Canzone or Carrigg?
Canzone
Nolan McLean is absolutely killing me today. Just brutal.
He’s all over the place from start to start
Totally. It’s terrible because he’s a guy I should always start. And when he’s on, he’s great. But watching him throw so many balls out of the zone today was death by a thousand paper cuts. Even weirder, the Metsies uncharacteristically tried bailing him out offensively, but he just kept giving runs back. Baseball’s crazy.
Yeah, it’s ulcer-inducing…it’s why we love it!
Absolutely! And don’t worry, I’ve got Varland to smooth out those ratios for me… Oh… Never mind.
Ha ouch
Which side in a keeper?
Michael McGreevy $4
Tyler Soderstrom $12
OR
Daylen Lile $6
Drew Rasmussen $12
Drew
Assuming Snell comes back in a week, who would you rather have ROS: Snell or Bradish? Thanks
Snell
Would you trade either Elly or Abrams straight up for Caminero in a dynasty league? I also have Griffin, so looking to unload a SS.
Meh, sounds fair
Ha, why “meh”?
Also, same question about trading for Wood?
Because you’re giving up the better players
Would prefer Wood
Copy, thanks.
Is it fair to say you value the four of them Elly, Abrams, Wood, Caminero in that order?
And I assume (separate discussion) Kurtz and Griffin are behind all of them as dynasty assets?
That sounds about right
Kurtz if he’s healthy is in front of Caminero…Konnor’s after all of them
Hi Grey,
1. Of the offer for Sonny Gray is turned down, who would you try and get between Perez, Joe Ryan, Sean Burke or Woo for SP
My offer includes SSki
My current short short shop is Gunnar Henderson. another option is to try and upgrade SS by trying to get:
Pena,
Ezequiel Toran
Nico Hoerner
Pendoma
Thanks!!
1. Eury
Gunnar is better than them
Thanks!!
No problem
Hey Grey,
A. Have a bit of a logjam to sort out with Harrison coming off the IL. Which pitcher is the drop from the following, or how would you rank them?
Urena
Cavalli
Scott
B. Who do you like better, Lombard Jr or Genao? I’m leaning Genao in points league as long as he has playing time.
A. Cade, Scott
Lombard
Thanks!
As in drop Urena, right?
I guess, if that’s your only option
Keep forever league:
Vlad Jr. or Webb/Willson Contreras?
Which side, does Vlad come back?
Logan Webb obviously. Would mean my keeper SP base next year would be Skubal, Ranger, and Sean Burke.
Willson
Does Jensen crack the Endy, Heim 1-2 ranking you gave responding to a question earlier? I failed to get Raleigh on a waiver claim earlier this week. I could really use a few bags from Endy.
Nope
Ohtani hitter/Bieber or Acuna/Cole?
Ohtani
Starting to wonder if Foster G is cooked…wonder if the Nats knew something.
Meh, guys just go thru ups and downs…he might have a dead arm
Over or under 3.5 on number of starts Ohtani makes the rest of the regular season as a pitcher?
Under
NL roto:
Hector Rodriquez or Abimelec Ortiz?
Thanks
Hector
Grey saves not as as important to me anymore, wouild you move Mason Miller for Skubal ?
Have room to gain points in Ks and Wins
Yes
morning Grey,
Drop Caballero for Royce Lewis or Caleb Durbin?
Durbin
I sure hope Ryan just has a made up injury. I just traded him and E. Valdez for McGonigle. Sucks to be on the bum end of a trade, and I don’t want to be that guy. Ugh.
Made-up injuries can still last weeks/months…he needs to figure out his mechanics from what I heard
It seems like Ryan has had mechanics issues his entire career, struggling to maintain velocity from start to start and even during his starts.
Yeah, sounds about right
ESPN Points, ROS need to drop one, please rank from most droppable to least
Sandoval
Bieber
Prielipp
Thanks
Reverse order
So Prielipp has the least value ROS?
yes
Picked up Hoffman but the manager says Gomez is the closer. Who should I add
Gomez
Garcia
Weaver
Cruz
Weaver
Grey
14 team mixed standard cats roto auction keeper weekly line ups and FA pick ups.
Dropped and replaced Sewald a few weeks back with Tyler Wells.
So it’s back to Sagnof again.
Would you please look into your crystal ball and rank the ROS saves for these available
relievers?
Weaver/ Hoffman / Cruz/ Cano/ D Smith/ Joyce / Zeferjohn / Bachman / Kitterage
Also, this weeks waiver wire has these prospecty risers as a result of the trade deadline.
Now, this league does reverse order in standings for free agent pick ups, so there is no way I am getting Mr. Lombard, ( Also this league is a New Jersey league so there are more than a couple YaSta farians ) but I am listing him anyways. Can you please look into your other crystal ball ( and invent a new yoga position while your at it ) and give me a ranking for best ROS player rater performance out of these guys?
G Lombard / H Rodriguez/ Osleivis Basabe / Angel Genoa / Abimelec Ortiz
As always thanks in advance.
That rank is fine
Lombard, Genoa, Basabe, Hector
I can only think that Cleveland didn’t bring Genao up to sit.
A. Maybe he rotates around the infield and DH and plays 5 games a week
B. Maybe JRam is hurt for real
C There is no C
Since Lombard will break my bank, I think Genao is the way to go ( and 4 for 5 helps my decision). If he hits a grand slam will he be the Genao Salami Man?
Thoughts?
Thanks as usual
I think B, unfortunately
Haha, yes!
I like Genao a lot if he plays
Thanks..have a good weekend
You too!
12 team, 5×5 roto (saves only)
1) Do you like Noah Cameron over any of Trevor Rogers, Mize, Boyd, Jax, Soroka?
2) Would you try to add Kittredge or Cruz over Jacob Webb?
Over Rogers 2. no
Sorry for the flurry of trade questions today Grey but it’s trade deadline day and managers are finally wanting to make some moves (to go along with the fact that I’m somehow in 7 leagues this year which doesn’t help)!
12TM H2H PTS league with no K penalty for hitters:
A. Ben Rice and Bobby Witt Jr. (AVG. PPG for the season are 9.31 and 8.99)
B. Drake Baldwin, Gunnar Henderson, and Mathew Boyd (AVG. PPG for season are 8.73, 7.58, and 19.55)
I’d be getting A, seems like a deal I have to make, especially with Snell coming back where I’d need clear a roster spot…
A side
Thanks Grey, trade is processing now!
No problem
Looking to drop E. Valdez and p/u either J. Duran, Cag, or Benge. Need best overall player for a 10t h2h redraft category league. Thank you
Sorry system froze
I’d give Valdez another few days…maybe thru Sunday

KNOCKED OUT
36 Kyle Schwarber 19
Mis returns to the top spot after a couple weeks of Wood leading the way. Only 1 newcomer as Gavin jumps up from #37 last week to return to the top 25 for the first time since June 4. Schwarber drops out after 6 weeks on the list.
This is awesome, Vin! I hadn’t realized Schwarber was slumping…stupid home run derby
hahaha
Looking to drop E. Valdez and p/u either J. Duran, Cag, or Benge. Need best overall player for a 10t h2h redraft category league. Thank you
I’d give Valdez another few days…maybe thru Sunday
dynasty league, trade trea + woo for neto?
Meh, fair I guess, but Trea
I was thinking of trading Sasaki and Cavalli 1. The potential trade targets are Joe Ryan, Sean Burke , Woo, Eury Perez, Michael King, Messick and Sandy Gray?
Which SPs would you target and in what order?
Thanks so much! Your help is always appreciated and welcomed!
Sonny Gray
One additional question. Which short stop would you target?
Thanks
Out of who?
One additional question. Would you add Jake Mccarthy along with Sasaki and Cavalli to get Gray?
Thanks!
No
Hey Grey, what kind of player is Lombard over a full season…what kind of stats are we looking at here realistically?
12/14/.284 as a 21-year-old and a 21.4 K% and 16.8 BB% — that’s a future star
Good morning, Grey
In a 20 team h2h cat dynasty
Ian Seymour or Owen Caissie?
Gracias.
Ian
Thanks amigo 👍
No problem
Hey Grey, looking to upgrade my offense for the final part of the season, for a keeper league, in a vacuum, do you prefer Julio Rod or Corb Carroll? Is it pretty much even, Im guessing?
JRod, it’s even
Grey sorry for long post but you are my fantasy therapist dude! LOL
my trade deadline is today
5×5 ROTO, in 2nd place. I am leading league in ERA and SV (3.11) (94) closest guys below me have (3.67) (92) (80)
My closers Mason Miller, Aroldis Chapman, Louis Varland
Guy below me owns Jhoan Duran, Edwin Diaz, Bryan Barker, Yoendrys Gomez
The problem. I need a SP bad and can gain at least 4 total spots in K/W with a decent SP.
Should I trade a closer, and sacrifice a roto pt in saves to get a starter or hold?
I have Jackson Jobe and Clay Holmes back soon, but also have injured Joe Ryan and Ohtani……
Trading a closer seems to make sense if you can get an SP
hey grey
someone dropped ryan jeffers in my league. Right now i’m in first but starting Jensen still. Who do you like more ROS.
Jeffers
thanks!
No problem
Should we take a flyer on Juan Soto coming back by September? Wondering if I should flip my Bryce Miller for their Soto? Have Snell coming back so I’d need a roster spot anyway?
I’d take Soto flyer
12TM H2H PTS league with no K penalty for hitters:
A. Tommy Edman and Mathew Boyd
B. Zach Neto
Neto, it’s fair tho
Thanks Grey!
No problem
Please asterisk Woo: 7 scoreless innings, while plunking 3 batters. (not since Yu Darvish circa 2022)
lol.
now call him Woo Darvish? Bryan Yu?
Haha
Which side in this trade I was offered? It’s a weekly standard roto redraft.
I give Julio and Varland
I get Rasmussen and Tucker
I don’t like it, but wanted your take.
Hold
really need pitching. would you do cj abram’s for tarik skubal. i have gunnar henderson to fill the ss spot
I’m not Grey, but I wouldn’t move a 35/25 SS for a pitcher. I’d probably look to move a lesser hitter for a SP3 type. The best trades usually aren’t blockbusters in my experience.
i understand and usually i wouldn’t either. but im in a shallow h2h cat league and my hitting seems very strong compared to my pitching.
i have
C – Baldwin
1B – Alonso
2B – Garcia jr
SS – Abrams
3B Stewart
OF – Julio Rodriguez, Acuna Jr, Alvarez
Util – Suzuki, Gunnar Henderson
Bench – Eugenio Suarez, William Contreras, Bo Bichette
Pitching:
Jacob degrom, Jared jones, bryce miller, logan henderson, matthew boyd, trevor rogers, hunter brown, andres munoz, trevor megill
IL: Ohtani(pitching), max meyer
i feel pretty confident that even with the lose of abram’s my hitting would still be strong. no?
If you can win this year with Skubal and cover CJ, you make the move
ok thank you. corange juice has been so good for my team this year but this feels like i can’t pass it up
I know, he’s been incredible
Yes

Starting Ashcraft (@MIL) or May (vs MIL) today? 16 team H2H QS, K/9
Neither are safe, I’d start Ashcraft, but both is an option too
Drop one. Benge, canzone, adell
Adell

From MVP talks to LVP decisions…I have the following loser on my team, V. Pasquantino with a 3-year contract at $15.
When I drafted him, I expected him to outperform this $15 and be a worthwhile contributor to my team for this season and the next two! NOT! I have not dropped him because of the contract and luckily he has been on the IL and my team has been ok without him.
Enter other loser to this limp circle… V. Guerrero Jr. He is currently $36.
I was just offered a trade of Loser VGJ for Loser VP. I would get Vlad – $36 and give up Vinnie – $15 x 3year contract. There is no contract on Vlad so he is only on my team for the rest of this season.
Is there any reason to make this trade? Should I give up on my cousin Vinnie and get a player who can attempt to help my team or just hold?
*Also, it’s pretty sad that Vinnie has the same number of HRs as Vlad and he has 200 less At Bats!
*Also, also…it probably makes no sense to make this trade but I just want to make sure that my reasoning isn’t skewed because these losers are impacting my judgement.
Thanks!
Yeah, they both suck…I don’t know anything about your league, is $15 for Vinnie good? Doesn’t sound it, so you can get rid of him? Sounds good on that alone
Hi Grey,
2nd question of the day, for my other league.
Currently 1/2 game out of 6th place.
3rd and 6th only 3 games apart.
3 keeper league:
Would you give away Sal Stewart and received Sonny Gray and Ketel Marte?
Would probably drop Martin Perez.
Thanks for your help!
Works for me
Do you think Ketel Marte can turn it around and produce the last 2.5 months?
Yes
Grey my man!
12 team H2H dynasty, 5×5 (OBP)
We are in first place, trying to do everything we can to try and win this year.
We’re being offered our Arias and 2027 2nd round prospect draft pick for Vlad.
We have Duran, Adames, Lindor, Aidan Miller to fill in at short and we are just held up on Vlad turning it on ROS. Long term, we still like the guarantee of Vlad vs the unknown of Arias.
Thoughts?
Minor note, we also have Jacob Wilson at SS
Sounds like it makes sense for you, wish you could get someone better than Vlad
Anyone else you’d suggest making an offer for? The team we’re trading with is in 12th and rebuilding so they’re a good trade partner
I have no idea
Hi Grey,
7 keeper league.
I’m out of the playoff.
would you give away Rafaela for Rooker and pick 12+13.
my other keepers would be:
Olson, Stewart, Arozarena, Judge, Tucker, And Cease
thanks,
Chris
Works for me
Was watching Carson Benge homer last night, and realized his swing, and really almost everything reminds me of Jackson Merrill. Next 10 years who you taking between those two?
Merrill
1. Thoughts on Judge coming back with recent statements that he will be? And worth trading Lombard who can be kept next year in 11th round for Judge who cannot? Or Lombard who again can be kept for Lindor and Weaver who would both be rentals? Or just hold Lombard?
3. Luis Garcia who can be kept at 10th round value for rental Weaver? My closers are Iglesias and Beeter
Altuve stopped growing at 13 hehehe
Hehe
Please rank ROS: Endy; Heim; Agustin; Stephenson.
Endy, Heim
Ohtani broke the MVP discussion, deservedly. PCA is having an unreal year, and plays a Gold glove CF. But can he pitch?
That was a question we never asked anyone before.
Ohtani broke the mold, and nobody comes close to what he can do.
He set the bar so high, that he’s not quite living up to the unrealistic expectations put on him and no other player. So it should be Ohtani, but I’m leaning PCA. I’m a Cubs fan, and num to Unicorns I guess.
Yeah, but I think it’s close enough and Ohtani fatigue will give it to PCA…assuming they stay on same path
This title man, I’m laughing my azoff
Haha
