You know the concept of Yin/Yang? Definition online (which might be 65% accurate because it’s online): An ancient Chinese philosophy that describes how two opposite, complementary forces interact to form a balanced and connected whole. Let’s use that to explain the two big stars for the Mets. Imagine you have a Yin, let’s call them, Juan Soto. They get injured and then the Yang, let’s call them, Francisco Lindor, has a near-three home run game. Do you see how this works? Soto stubs his toe, Lindor steals 2nd easily. Soto sneezes and “God bless you” is what we say about Lindor’s hitting. Soto meets with Emma Stone to film a movie in the Mets’ dugout about how much the Mets suck, and Lindor takes the Mets to victory. It’s really that simple. Yesterday, Francisco Lindor went 3-for-5, 6 RBIs with his 7th and 8th homer, and nearly missed a 3rd homer by about six inches. It was because Soto just ate an arepa that had an extra six inches of cheese. They are an interconnected web. Francisco Lindor has the ability to have a solid 2nd half, but we are going to have to do something about Juan Soto. Oh, wait, the Mets are saying Soto is 100% going to play again this season. Oh, thanks, Mets doctors! Very reassuring! I’m 100% confident in that now! I guess, good on Lindor. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Zac Thornton – 6 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 7 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.43. This one is gonna light up your Xmas tree, but I just gave you a Zac Thornton fantasy.
Marcus Semien – 3-for-4, 3 runs, 2 RBIs and his 12th homer, and 2nd homer in two games. Hot schmotato alert!
Tyrone Taylor – 3-for-5, 3 runs, 3 RBIs and his 9th homer, and 2nd homer in two games too. Hmm, regretting not grabbing him in NL-Only. Seems like he’s a deep league flyer at this point, but he still may not face righties.
Ozzie Albies – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 18th homer, 3rd homer this week. As I mentioned in Friday’s Sell, I have Albies, so I hope he gets hot, and, honestly, I’m thinking I should’ve said to sell him in May.
Martin Perez – 5 IP, 3 ER, 9 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.49. There’s one league where I put in a FAAB bid for Perez every week, but he’s always behind someone else (this week Keider Montero was 1st then Perez) so I never get Perez, and Perez invariably pitches better. I don’t know my point. Points are stupid. Eff points!
Ronald Acuña Jr. – 1-for-4, 1 run as he was activated from the IL. Usually I just do a Kevin from ESPN goof, but I wanted to point out how I saw an Acuña rehab at-bat on Friday where he clearly winced and limped back to the dugout and, man and five womans, I don’t know. Don’t feel great about this.
Cody Bellinger – Out four-to-six weeks. This is like the sadness Cody feels on 4/21, but for six weeks.
Max Fried – 3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 3.23. I like how terrible everyone is. Adds an interesting wrinkle! Yes, he could be injured still. No, I do not know.
Ali Sanchez – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 1st career homer, after debuting in 2020. Ha, and you think the Yanks’ offense needs hitters? Please. They have Ali Larter. I mean, Sanchez. I think.
Curtis Mead – 0-for-1 as he hit 2nd. LFG! I do like me some Mead. I am a drunk Viking. [a few innings later] He’s out after being hit on the wrist. Am I. Dot dot dot. Cursed? Sounds like Mead will be okay, but we shall see. Or not. Your choice!
Ceddanne Rafaela – 1-for-4, 4 RBIs and his 11th homer, a grand slam, i.e., damn slam, thank you, Ceddanne. Actually, that’s not an i.e. I don’t know what that is. A burp with letters? That would make a good t-shirt. “What does your ‘A burp with letters?’ shirt mean?” Oh, well, you know.
Payton Tolle – 5 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.32. Is that taming the wild beast of Bing Bong? Almost feel like because I have to ask it’s not, but five and a third with two earned nowadays feels like a Quality Start. “Only two homers allowed? Wow, what a great start!”
Tyler Soderstrom – 1-for-3 and his 17th homer. Mead and Soderstrom spotted in one game? What’s that, sparkling cider? (I should’ve stopped prior to that.)
Jonah Heim – 1-for-4 and his 10th homer. Hit ’em with the Heim!
Spencer Steer – Hit the IL with a wrist injury and will miss significant time. The Reds are cursed. No team do I have more hope for in March, that completely disappoint each year. Just brutal. Don’t buy into the Great American Ballpark being a hitters’ haven. It is but only for players you don’t draft.
George Kirby – 4 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 3.98. Mariners’ starters are very meh this year. Oddly enough, they want to trade away their most consistent one (Hancock) to presumably bring up their new best starter (Kade Anderson — yes, stash him).
Randy Arozarena – 1-for-4 and his 13th homer, and 2nd homer in two games. The Rice Bowl is not going quietly into that goodnight, God Bless that I said to sell, I suppose.
Kumar Rocker – 6 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 4.03. Kicking myself for being a chicken and not streaming him, but do chickens have feet that can kick themselves? I’ve entered a metaphorical quandary. An escape room for the mind. Any hoo! Streamonator on whether to start Rocker.
Ezequiel Duran – 2-for-4 and his 12th homer, and 2nd homer in two games. Hot schmotato, sure, but also how sad is it he’s had a better season than Corey Seager? It’s not even remotely close. On the Player Rater, Ezequiel is near-top 100 overall; Seager is near-900th overall.
Jake Burger – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 19th homer, 2nd homer in three games. Sloppily rubbing ketchup on my chin, so when I say, “Thank you, Burger,” my wife doesn’t think I’m crazy.
Joc Pederson – 2-for-4, 4 RBIs and his 18th and 19th homer. His 2025 to 2026 season splits will be studied one day. In a class called, Shizz No One Cares About. It will be well-attended. (It’s a prerequisite at the Fantasy Baseball College of Charleston.)
Jameson Taillon – Designated for assignment. His assignment is to send a To Whom It May Concern to the Angels and Rockies’ front offices.
Alex Bregman – 4-for-5, 3 runs, 2 RBIs and his 11th homer, hitting .241. Wow, he stinks! [checks to see if Vlad Jr. has been better or worse] Whew, Vlad is almost 70 spots better than Bregman while still only being around 170 overall on the Player Rater.
Nico Hoerner – 4-for-5, 2 runs, 4 RBIs and his 5th homer, hitting .254. If he was dropped, he’s the kind of guy who can hit .330 for the final two months. Or a trade for him, perhaps.
David Peterson – 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 5.80. If the Cubs fix Peterson, then shut down the Mets until further notice. Fumigate the clubhouse!
Tyler Phillips – 5 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.52. Sorta like a hummingbird without a care in the world, bebopping around, I keep starting Phillips in multiple leagues and it hasn’t hurt me yet. It will! For sure! But not yet.
Griffin Conine – 2-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 8th homer. Someone heard me call Jackson Holliday the Nepo Baby, and Conine was like, “No way! My daddy said I can have that nickname!”
Heriberto Hernandez – 2-for-5, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 15th homer, hitting .245, but great month — 7 HRs, hitting around .300 and two steals — that’s a 40/12 pace, and that might be a bit higher than expectations should carry him, but he’s been good and the underlying numbers seem solid.
Bryce Harper – 1-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 22nd homer, hitting .252. It was so hot in Miami, after his homer, Bryce got back to the dugout and doused himself in raw milk that stuck like clumps in his beard.
Andres Chaparro – 1-for-2 and his 5th homer. Chaparro said a’la Kirk Douglas, “I am Curtis Mead…” Another Nats player, “No, I am Curtis Mead…” Another Nats player, “No, I am Curtis Mead…”
Zack Wheeler – 3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 2.53. Wheeler’s Kryptonite: middling offenses. Don’t give him the Punch & Judy’s!
Mitch Keller – 5 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.83 vs. Merrill Kelly – 5 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.86. David Letterman voice, “M. Keller…M. Kelly…M. Keller…M. Kelly…Uma…Oprah…”
Tatsuya Imai – 1/3 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 5.83. If your starter has to fail to get out of the 1st inning, this is a great way to do it! Not being sarcastic! It sucks. Sure! But at least it’s not a 2/3 IP, 7 ER start. Thank you, Mayor Blubaugh.
Taylor Trammell – 1-for-2, 2 runs and his 5th homer, 2nd homer in two games. Hot schmotato alert!
Walbert Urena – 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.70. Almost exact same story as Tyler Phillips. At a certain point, I was like, “Who cares what the numbers say? I just have to start this schmohawk until he’s not good.” Sometimes it’s better to be foolish than smart.
Sam Bachman – 1/3 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 4.30 for the blown save, as he hit a batter to tie the game, walked in one inherited runner to lose the lead, then an error for another run. Angels’ pen put on a clinic. Sorry, paused for a moment and the sentence ended at clinic and it was supposed to be a clinically depressed shitshow.
Tyler Mahle – 6 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 4.96 vs. Brandon Sproat – 6 IP, 3 ER, 9 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 5.05. This matchup was billed as “Sproat’s at T. Mahle? What kind of granola crap is this? I want carnitas!” Also, Streamonator for both.
Kerry Carpenter – Hit the IL due to his foot. Must’ve been a lot of lefties coming up.
Keider Montero – 4 1/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.34. Top pitching FAAB buy of Sunday and was great until I picked him up. I’m sorry, that’s on me.
Kyle Bradish – 4 2/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.74. Wait a second, Keider did out-pitch Bradish. Hmm. Maybe I am good.
Tyler O’Neill – 1-for-1 and his 7th homer. If you have “Will win an arm wrestling contest” category in your league, Tyler O’Neill’s your man! (Assuming Yandy is taken.)
Coby Mayo – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 14th homer. Put a little Mayo on some bread, then toast? Oh, yeah. Put a little Mayo on your fantasy team? Um, how desperate are you?
Jackson Holliday – 4-for-5, 2 runs, hitting .243. His average went up 19 points yesterday. Someone doesn’t like being called a Nepo Baby. Good, because that’s Griffin Conine’s! His daddy said so.
Max Scherzer – 2 2/3 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 9.49 as he was activated from the IL. Max will continue to take the ball for the Jays in their quest to finish the season. Not with a winning record or a playoff spot, but at this point let’s just see if they can finish the season. Trying to imagine making $363 million in my lifetime like Scherzer, and still going out there and trying to pitch for a last place team, but we currently have a trillionaire who spends his time on social media, and, boy, I’d be on a tropical island somewhere learning to sew a basket, then teaching the locals basketball.
Daylen Lile has been the epitome of steady mediocre production in a good lineup, but I’m intrigued by Heriberto Hernandez and his sexy statcast page. Worth the swap? 12 team, 4 OF league
12 team h/h points redraft
Burger or L Garcia
Hey Hey, Grey!
I know it’s late in the day for questions, but . . . Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Joc Pederson one of those guys who hits all of his homers within a few days of each other? And that means he should be picked up if he just hit two?
LURVAYAYAYAYA
Hey Grey,
How would you rank these starts:
Scott vs ATL
Kelly @CLE
Young vs PHI
Leahy @TOR
Ashcraft @CIN
Young, Scott, Leahy
(1) Rushing or Stephenson.
(2) Heriberto or Lile?
Rushing
Heriberto
Hi Grey,
In a keeper league trying to assess probability of Mason Montgomery as Bucs closer next season.
2%
Do you like Ben Joyce or Justin Martinez more than him as a keeper for next season?
Hi Grey
ROS Max Muncy (LA) or Eugenip Suarez? Thank you
Muncy
Absolutely agree with with Imai blurb. Minimize our pain! Now being serious: I don’t need Imai this year and I have him cheap. Hold for next year or cash in for somebody like Sandoval, Gasser, or a prospect on the cusp?
In looking at next year that is.
I’d take Gasser
Sal Perez or Jeffers as a Langeliers replacement in an OBP league?
Jeffers
Grey
Ramos seems to have hit a wall
Would you drop him for
Heriberto Hernandez,
Hao Yu Lee or
Chase Meidroth
Heriberto
cool thanks
No problem
Ottoneu FG points league. My team is in 1st but has been dealing with some rough underperformance and injury on offense (Gunnar, vlad, yelich, Roman, Konnor griffin). Pitching is great and then i have Wood/Kurtz/Baldwin carrying the load on offense.
We play straight points through the regular season before switching to head to head playoffs.
$54 yordan is the like the only available elite bat and may also be the absolute best hitter in this format right now. Owner asking for $8 Roman/$5 Konnor Griffin/$5 jared jones/$2 max Meyer. Steep price to pay long term but may be worth it to try to win…go for it, or hold on to the future?!
Seems like it’s Konnor for Yordan, which I would do
Butttt… I can keep all of those players forever at gradually escalating prices 😬
Gotcha, then hold
Dodged a bullet with Valdez
No fracture
Whew!
A magician avoids a spell
HAHA
Doovoo doll works
You’re welcome
Haha
12 team H2H keeper where AVG and OBP separate cats. Each team can keep up to 7. My 7 keepers if season ended today are Julio, Wood, Carroll, Elly, Turang, Lombard, and one of Antonacci, Logan Henderson or Luis Garcia.
Last week you agreed with my offer of Turang (7th round next year) and Lombard (11th round next year) for other teams Kurtz (10th round next year). Other team countered with Kurtz and Hoerner (who I dont need) for Turang, Lombard, my 1st round pick, and my 5th round pick. That seems way too much and hes actually supposed to give me two picks back in any rounds where pick swaps are even. Assuming I remove Hoerner from deal and it just Turang and Lombard
Thanks as always
Hoerner, who you don’t need,, is your dealbreaker? I must be missing something
1. sounds fine 2. Sounds fine
Im saying hes adding Hoerner to Kurtz which I dont need, so plan to tell him to keep Hoerner and hoping hes willing to take less than my 1st and 5th round pick.
So basically wondering if Turang, Lombard, my 3rd round pick, my 5th round pick, my 2nd round pick for Kurtz, his 8th round pick, his 9th round pick, and his 2nd round pick is fair for me or am I giving to much in picks/draft value?
Oh, I see, I did have it backwards…It’s not good if you don’t need Hoerner
Thanks – appreciate it
No problem
Would you cut Casey Schmitt to pick up Marcus Semien?
You don’t have an IL slot? I guess…Semien is not great long term tho
My IL slot is filled with Rodan. I also have Curtis Mead who is DTD. Would you then pass on Semien and look for another?
Thanks so much for your amazing effort!
I suppose, don’t know who else the other is
Great question!
I have Mead who is DYD and Schmitt who will probably be on the. IL.
One option is to stay pat. Another option is cut Schmitt for either Semien or Ceddanne Rafaela. Thoughts?
Thanks!!
Ceddanne
With Soto and Cody going on the IL, and Ranger coming off the IL, I’m now short a batter with too many pitchers. Who is the drop: Bradish, Kirby, M. King, H. Greene, H. Brown, Eovaldi, McClanahan, or Ranger? I don’t really want to drop any of them, but I need a batter. Thanks!
Bradish
I dropped him once before and picked him back up after some stronger starts, but he’s either hot or cold so that’s kind of what I thought too. Thanks!
No problem
I’d drop King first.
Fun fact! “Heriberto” is what Prof McGonigle says to turn animals into goblets.
HAHAHAHA
Do I drop Peralta for May or hold in hopes he gets traded to a team with a competent pitching staff that fixes him?
Meh, may as well hold him for another week now
Hey Grey!
I’d picked up Whitlock a while back thinking Sox would move Chapman, but now looks like probably not? Would you drop for Jacob Webb or maybe Weaver?
Thanks!
I own Chapman if that makes a difference.
Webb
Oh man. The Kirby haters are gonna have a field day with this one. I have him at SP29 this week, and some folks were not happy about it!
Kirby, in fact, did suck. And blow. At the same time.
Who are the first 28 starters? Bob Gibson in 1968?!
Bryan Woo is still ahead of him! Barely!
Had a look at next week’s column and can’t believe you have Gausman in the top 10
I am so in on COnine. I just wish the Marlins would stop doing what the Reds, Tigers, Orioles did.
They were young teams but what I found when watching they pulled so many of their young players because Lefty Righty matchups deemed it so.
Just let them play and develop and Conine is like 28…and no splits issues.
If they just let Conine and Hierberto go and stop playing Jakob Marsee…they got something but they will do with the other 3 young teams did the past 3 years.
These teams are terrible with platoons…Nats are platooning half their lineup for no reason
I need to drop Muncy (LA) or Eugenio Suarez. Which one ?
thank you.
Good morning Grey,
Heriberto’s a popular comment topic today!
How would you rank Heriberto, Suarez, and CES? A bit disappointed CES could be platooning with Mayo. 10 team redraft, OBP league.
Also, I picked up Gabriel Moreno to replace Bangoliers, but Heim is also available if you’ve got more faith in him ROS.
Thanks!
That rank is fine
I’d try Heim, at least at home
Ashcraft or Detmers
Detmers
We know about three-outcome hitters in baseball. Bradish is literally a two-outcome pitcher. He is either dog$shit or really good. There literally is no middle ground with him
Bal scores 8 yesterday and Bradish entered the bottom of the 5th with a 7-3 lead and can’t even finish the 5th. Mediocre would have ok there for once.
HAHAHA, true
Looking to add R/RBI/SB/AVG, was offered one of Burleson or Wetherholt for a closer. Think Burleson is the better option or go with JJ ?
Burleson
Christian Scott at home vs. ATL — SON is a bit positive (5.6), but I’m still nervous. Start or sit?
Seems fine
, Mr. Big Yabu
Heiberto Hernandez or Moniak ROS
Moniak, tho if he’s traded maybe Heriberto
G,
Would you drop Paredes for Heriberto in a daily 5×5?
Thanks!
Davin
Sure
Just did this morning. Lfg!
5×5 league with weekly lineups.
Activate Carrigg (4 home games) instead of Happ, Varsho, or Yelich (or hold)? They have all been varying degrees of meh all season long.
Varsho
Hey Grey!
Own too many starters in a standard 12 teamer and should prob cut one or two… Boyd, Ranger, Woo, Gausman, Eovaldi, Cavalli, Burke, Melton, Harrison (IL), Soroka (IL)
Who would you cut?
Start at the guys who are injured, then Melton
Can you rank the top 2 starts in order out of these options this week?:
Taj Bradley vs KC
Eovaldi @ Tampa
Bryce Miller @ LAD
Ed Rod @ PIT
Ashcraft @ Reds
Sasaki vs Seattle
Ober vs KC
Taj, Roki
Grey
I don’t see any mention of the Magician Valdez getting hit on the hand.🤷♂️
And we still don’t have a report from the Pirates on the status. 😠
I don’t know the status, we’ll see
I’m pouring out a Yakult for the occult or whatever magic potion it is I need to sacrifice to the gods for this man to be come out of this unscathed. I also lost Casey Schmitt yesterday.
Hahaha
I’ll take whatever works
Magically, he’s back in tonight.
Probably used this classic from an old wizard from the juicing days:
“By steady hands and patient time,
mend this pain, restore this line,
bone and flesh in strength re-knit,
healing come, and stay with it.”
Heim or Rushing in a single C 12 teamer?
Heim
Grey,
please rank 2B ros pts league?
Arraez, Hoerner, Lowe, Rafaela
Lowe, Ceddanne, Nico

Terrible!
Wow, this is awful…That accounts for so much
Itch is a fantasy god!
This is me quoting Itch from March 22 “Marlins OF Heriberto Hernandez will play in 145 games and hit 25 home runs.”
Granted he can do it in quite a bit fewer than 145 games.
Too bad I cut bait after 1 slow month.
Ha, yup!
Walbert is THE robot slayer. every week his starts are like -$30 on the streamanator.
Robot Slayer – great nickname
Hope it holds up, I’m shopping at Walbert every 5-6 days
Haha
I know, his underlying numbers are bad, his team is awful, but he persists
I need a Bellinger replacement. Merrill, Langford, Rafaela, Adell, or Simpson?
If your waiver wire looks like that why not stream based on need?
This is true
Merrill
Hey Grey!
Thanks!
Thanks! On #2 – Acuna @ $45 beats Konnor @ $23 right?
Yeah, but I don’t think that different
G,
So with the Acuña rehab AB, the Braves beat guy (Mark Bowman) said he just got his cleat caught on the swing and was fine. He was walking normally by the time he got back to the dugout. Now join me in my prayer circle to keep him healthy.
-IANASM
Oh, that’s good to hear
He looked bad in the OF last night. Love Acuna but not sure he will ever be the same. I think he can still hit HR’s but the days of 30+ steals and defensive gems are over. His legs are shot
That’s the exact reaction I had to Imai. I appreciate that they saw all the walks and just said you know what, let’s just call this a mulligan Imai.
Haha, yup!
It appears that I’ll need to replace Casey Schmitt with another 2b eligible player. Please rank the top 3 among the following; Hao Yu Lee, Royce Lewis, Cody Clemens, Chase Meidroth, Cronenworth and Cole Young.
Also keep Ian Seymour and Shane Drohan or pick up Dustin May, Landon Roup, Christian Scott, Walbert Urena, Merrill Kelly or Brandon Young?
Thank you!
Kody
Roupp, Walbert
Which side would you prefer? Fangraphs dynasty points league. $300 budget. The rest of this year counts as one of the remaining years on the contracts. Thinking of sending this offer out there:
He (rebuilder) gets $16×2 Bellinger, $31×3 Framber
I (competing) get $44×2 Schwarber, $1×3 Cavalli
I don’t know if I’m offering enough, but he does like rostering Yankee players, so there’s a bit of a bias.
Cade side
That was only Imai’s 3rd worst start. He now has #56 on the 100 Best Fantasy Starts list, and 4 starts in the bottom 20 (and in 3 of those, the Astros at least came back so he didn’t get the losses). Those 4 total 3 innings with 15 ER and 24 baserunners (45.00/8.00 ratios).

It’s been a disaster at 2B going all in on Maikel Garcia. Threw in Semien in that deal as a freebie and he’s not only out-performing Garcia but right there in free agency.
I’m not overly concerned as I should have a well rested, I’m talking very well rested and fresh, Maikel Garcia for the playoff run. I currently have David Hamilton for stolen bases but should I be picking up any of the following over Hamilton:
Rengifo, Semien, Edwin arroyo, I Vargas, I’ll stop there.
Seen any movies or shows you’d recommend? Ranked, I’ve seen: Michael, The Odyssey, one night only, Motor City, obsession, young Washington, and Death of Robin Hood. I want to go see her private hell next.
I went to the warped tour this past weekend, I’ll be sore for a week. I don’t think I’ve ever really asked about your music taste although I know you’re quite the rapper / lyricist. Who are your most seen bands/artist?
Meh, Hamilton or Semien seem fine, depending on needs, would prolly stay with Hamilton
I saw Odyssey, Obsession and Backrooms…ranked for me…I listen to hip hop
My opponent owns Lindor, Bichette, Ewing, and F Rod. Every fucking day dude.

Merrill Kelly plunked Esmerlyn, and all I can think, “ Hope it’s not his hamate”
I didn’t know what a hamate was in 2025!
I want to back to go back to simpler times when guys walked away from being plunked.
Are there voodoo dolls that magically heal people? I’m inventing it.
I will call them Doovoo dolls. For the unbelievable cost of only $99.99 I will slap a bandaid on your athlete’s doovoo boo-boo
Ugh, I’m clearly broken. I hope he’s okay.
Back in my day we didn’t know we had hamates.
