Top 500 for 2026 Fantasy Baseball

Four score and seventeen-hundred rankings posts ago, my Fordfathers said, “Stop calling us Fordfathers, you idiot, it’s forefathers.” In order to form a more perfect fantasy baseball ranking system, we stopped ranking for fantasy baseball and simply said, “Eff it, let’s just let Grey rank 500 or so Mr. So-and-So’s.” Or, more succinctly, the top 500 for 2026 fantasy baseball. A few years ago, the top 500 was only a top 300 for fantasy baseball. Before that, it was 16 AD and I was drafting in one-person leagues because no one knew fantasy baseball or baseball. In a few years from now, this is going to be a top 10,000 and I’m going to be ranking Ronald Acuña Jr. Jr. Jr. Today, in this year, Twenty-Six after Twenty, comes the top 500 for 2026 fantasy baseball. Or as I like to call it, “Did he really rank Mr. So-and-So before Mr. So-and-So Jr.?” If Mr. So-and-So Jr. would stop chasing pitches in the dirt, I might’ve ranked him in front of Mr. So-and-So. This post isn’t meant to send shockwaves through your system. The pipe cleaner that the doctor uses to get the clogged wax from your ears is meant for that. This is simply to give you an idea of where guys are ranked in relation to other positions, i.e., you know I like Ceddanne Rafaela better than Teoscar Hernandez, according to the top 40 outfielders, but do I like Ceddanne better than Matt Chapman? Okay, it’s not that simple. You should read the blurbs for all players, but this top 500 should give you an idea. You’ll notice after the top 200, positions start to get clumped together. I might be the only fantasy baseball ‘pert to tell you this, but it doesn’t matter where, say, David Peterson is ranked vs. Wilyer Abreu. If you need a starter, Abreu isn’t going to help you. He can be ranked 50 spots in front of Peterson and it doesn’t matter. That’s why I have the 2026 fantasy baseball rankings broken down by positions. If you need a 1st baseman, then Alec Burleson vs. Yandy Diaz matters, but where Burleson is ranked vs. Robbie Ray really doesn’t matter. Also, there’s no comments about players in this top 500, which you really should know prior to drafting. In other words, Carlos Rodon might be ranked around 200th overall, but am I drafting him? Well, you’d know if you read my top 60 starters for 2026 fantasy baseball. There’s also a top 100 for 2026 fantasy baseball to help you.

Also, where I had omitted the free agent projections previously, here I filled in those projections because, well, it was getting confusing for me with open spaces. All free agents’ projections are based on neutral parks or best guesstimates where they will end up. They are clearly placeholder projections. Anyway, here’s the top 500 for 2026 fantasy baseball:

I find the site quite confusing. I am looking at the Top 500 Rankings for 2026. Is there a way to have it reflect the format of my league? Roto 5X5; Hitting-R, HR, RBI, Net Steals, OBP; Pitching W, K, ERA, WHIP, Saves.

Thanks for the quick reply. However, the 6X6 is part of the confusion. If I click 6X6, do the rankings include OPS, QS, and Holds? If so, I can’t use that. It appears no way to see Net Steals factored in, which is no big deal. Also, my league is 10 teams mixed league standard roster. I think the rankings you have are for 12 teams. I see across from Steamer where I can click 10 or 12 but not across from Grey. On the other hand, I can click OBP across from Grey but not Steamer. Like I said, confusing although the information is probably accesible to someone who knows how the site works.

I have only one set of rankings, 5×5, 12 team…*We* have multiple sets that using Steamer’s projections…We have different size leagues and OBP, OPS, etc….You can download them into excel and mix and match them for your needs, that might be more work than you want to do, in that case, you have to use them as a hybrid…i.e., look at OBP but keep in mind Holds in the other ranks…and think about QS in the other

I was curious about Kurtz high K% with a low/moderate chase rate. Interesting read. I assume the book on him would be to throw a steady diet of off-speed and breaking pitches this season. He can adjust by getting out in front a little earlier. Will be fun to see how this plays out.

That five seems fine to me…I like Canzone, but no reason why you can’t get him back at the draft and don’t need to keep a 2nd bench bat over an arm

Lastly, what would you consider to be the overall state of my roster? My OF used to be my weakness but I traded for Buxton and have Beavers and Delauter ready to make an impact. Same with my starters. My depth is much better than a year ago.

the only way to dodge the updates in the top 500 would be to leave a page open and never refresh it. otherwise if every time you look at it you opened it right then or just refreshed it everytime the updates will be there. the last few days (maybe last couple of weeks max) before season starts the updates often aren’t as frequent (probably assuming many drafts are done already etc) but for the most part, he gets them in there. comments from us help shore up any missed stuff too.

going over all the FA pitchers in a 30’er for bidding purposes, using the holds and/or QS rater, gotta be a rare glitch or something (rudy sure ain’t espn or yahoo this certainly isn’t endemic) but lorenzen isn’t in there. guys like b.francis (the injured likely out all year guys) or morton (retired guys, or maybe he isn’t, but even if he “is” you can’t trust people saying they got retired after favre (later brady) in sports) guys are, if anything there’s projected innings for a lot of guys that’ll likely end up with none if anything (as it should be, in case, we don’t know in advance etc). usually if somebody is missing it’s since he’s expected to just never make MLB this year, clearly not lorenzen in that bucket. he’s likely COL’s SP1-2 (or quintana i guess, but his luck probably ran out in that stadium)

If Rudy is missing someone, you should comment on the holds rater (at the bottom) and he’ll add him…I can ping him too

I traded, earlier in this offseason before the Suarez signing, for Spencer Steer ( $8 14 team mixed keeper standard cats. ) . It was a minor deal for Hung soo Lee who I probably wasn’t keeping anyways.
I know you bumped him down in value because of the probability he becomes a utility player . I have seen him penciled in , however, as the starting left fielder for the Reds this year on roster resource and other places.
Any chance he regains his lost value by starting in left? Or should I just chalk it up as an unfortunate trade and not save him as a keeper.

I’m a believer in not reaching for top starters but feel that the second 3rd rounder could be used for that as a bonus pick. What’s your opinion?
Most of my mocks have netted me:
Ohtani / Chisholm OR Alonso / Vlad or Neto / L. Gilbert OR Webb / Kirby Or Greene.

Obviously I’ll have a few extra 5th rounders, but just wanted some more suggestions. Also was leaning towards first picks on hitters and at least three of the next five on variety of pitchers. Looking forward to the Draft Prep Pairings in the near future to assist. Thanks!

Yes, one of your 3rd rounders should be an SP — Would go with some combo of Jazz and Greene, Kirby or Gilbert…Then I’d take at least one more SP in the 5th round picks…Depends what’s there obviously, but you should be stacked on hitting and pitching with these picks

Carter Jenson seems likely to have nearly full season AB between DH/C so 10 HR and his ranking overall feel light.
