The Indians and Twins set sail for the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico to rid themselves of the cold weather. Puig should really be from there, because white people pronounce each similarly awful. “Welcome to Pwwwwwayto Rico!” This was a homecoming for Francisco Lindor (1-for-5, 2 RBIs) and he promptly hit his 2nd homer, a moonshot that went about 275 feet (but, hey, it counts). Also, taking advantage of the short fences was Michael Brantley (3-for-5, 2 RBIs, 1st homer), Jose Ramirez (3-for-5, 4th homer) and Yonder Alonso (1-for-4, 3rd homer). The video of Lindor going around the bases is all that dem feels that baseball does right. How does baseball not have a team in Puerto Rico? Talk about something that is so obvious you have to be as ignorantly run as MLB to not see it as plain as day. Move the fences back 25 feet in Hiram Bithorn Stadium, switch out the fungo bats for mofongo and let that star shine! Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Corey Kluber – 6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 1.52. In that AL Central, is a 1.75 or lower ERA out of the question for Kluber? Maybe I’m too much like my father, too bold!
Byron Buxton – Missed yesterday’s game with a migraine. He tried to take four Tylenols, but popped two up, dropped one and swung and missed the last.
J.T. Realmuto – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 4 RBIs and his 1st homer, as he was activated from the DL. Kevin from ESPN’s Get Him In Your Lineup Department said, “I’m back, snitches! Oh, and get him in your lineup.”
Jarlin Garcia – 5 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners (5 BBs), 2 Ks, ERA at 0.86. Don’t you want to spell his name Jarlin’ with an apostrophe? Or change it to Jarling Arcia? No? Maybe it’s me. As I’ve said in the past, I don’t clear my browser history all season, so I can type, say, “Gi” and I find Giancarlo immediately, though Google then suggests “Did you mean The Swing ‘n Miss Bandit of the Bronx?” Any hoo! I typed “Ja” and immediately found Jarlin’s player page, because I’ve searched for it before. I think I’ve looked multiple times. Why relay this to you? Because it points out how forgettable he is. He’s not just a sub-1 ERA guy; he’s actively terrible.
Masahiro Tanaka – 5 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 6.45. It’s the Marlins, man! “Someone asked for me?” Oh, shut up, Marlins Man! I’m wrestling with real talk when I say if I can’t trust Tanaka against the Marlins, I’m thinking I may not be able to trust him against anyone ever. Existential Grey here, and don’t get me Sartred!
Matt Duffy – Hit the DL with a hamstring strain. Apparently, Duffy isn’t rough and tough but a cream puff.
Yonny Chirinos – 5 2/3 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 2.70. I’m just going to set down this Pepsi and let Jimmy Jihadi watch it while I go use the bathroom in this Afghani cave. *wakes up five hours later* Hey, cool curtains, they look like my internal organs. Wait a second! AHHHHH!!! ROOFIE!!!
Wilson Ramos – 1-for-4 and his 1st homer, hitting .220. Oh my God, there’s fog on the mirror below Ramos’ nose!
Isiah Kiner-Falefa – 4-for-5, hitting .273. …And, boys and girls, that’s the story about when Ralph Kiner impregnated a falafel sandwich. This is the guy the Rangers called up to replace Profar. Let’s just say he was on the depth charts behind Profar, so that tells you a lot, but he has been hot since his call up.
Randal Grichuk – 2-for-7, 3 runs, 3 RBIs and his 1st homer, which was an absolute shot. Not sure on the exit velocity, because my Juggs gun is in the shop, but it appeared to scoot out of the yard quicker than Ted after getting into the raisins. This could be the kind of shot in the arm to get Grichuk going.
Yangervis Solarte – 2-for-8, 4 RBIs and his 3rd homer. Definitely feels like a rising schmotato. We also go over him in the latest podcast. Some praise courtesy of Podcaster Ralph.
Mike Moustakas – 5-for-9, 2 RBIs and his 4th homer. Moistasskiss!
Lucas Duda – 2-for-8, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 3rd homer. Thinking of Duda after a Moistasskiss makes me a little ill.
Alcides Escobar -4-for-7 and his 1st homer, hitting .173. Now on pace for nine homers. Juiced balls!
Danny Duffy – 6 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 3.86. Meh, I’m pretty off Duffy, and that hasn’t changed. The Jays looked lethargic in the 2nd game of the doubleheader. The Jays had the blaises — the Jays haze? Rhyming in lieu of wit!
Zack Wheeler – 6 IP, 3 ER, 10 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 2.77. It felt like a big day yesterday for the Stream-o-Nator. I had pitchers going all over the place per its suggestion. Obviously the metal rod it has for Tanaka it can shove up its metal rear can.
Jed Lowrie – 2-for-4 and his 5th homer, hitting .351. I’ve seen hot schmotatoes before, but Lowrie’s hot as the sunmotato in Julymotato. (Sounded better in my head!)
Trevor Cahill – 7 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 8 Ks in his first start of the year. Usually a decent mediOAKer for when the matchup is right, and home vs. the White Sox is right.
Mark Canha – 3-for-4, 3 runs, 2 RBIs, hitting .368, and hit a home run a few days ago. Hot schmotato alert!
Yoan Moncada – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and a slam (2) and legs (2), hitting .214. The crazy run like crazy juice Tim Anderson’s drinking might’ve been left in the fridge for Moncada, because this is the 2nd day in a row with a steal. The White Sox: We’re Not Trying To Win, Unless You Mean Fantasy Teams.
Matt Kemp – 1-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 3rd homer, and 2nd in as many games. Yo, Dave Roberts, you better hurry up and get Kemp out the lineup before he proves you wrong for getting him in the lineup!
Alex Wood – 5 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 3 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.91. Okay, but it was the Padres, so what have we proven?
Kenley Jansen – 1 IP, 2 ER and the blown save, ERA at 8.10. You drafted him where? In the 4th round? Ouch. You should’ve SAGNOF’d. I grabbed Pedro Baez and Josh Fields, because at some point the Dodgers have to acknowledge that Kenley is not right.
Nick Pivetta – 5 IP, 1 ER, 5 hits, zero walks, 2 Ks, ERA at 2.49. Baseball is a funny game. Not funny funny unless you count Odubel’s hair. It’s funny because Pivetta could’ve been out of the 1st inning without a run given up, and that would’ve saved him about a dozen pitches and maybe that takes him through the sixth inning, and 6 IP, 0 ER looks better than 5 IP, 1 ER, but they’re the same if the Phils turn an easy DP in the 1st inning. Like I said, not funny funny, but I do still like Pivetta a lot.
Mike Foltynewicz – 6 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 2.53. It was a pleasure to watch this Braves/Phils game and I started both of these SPs across multiple leagues. With that said (Grey’s turning the ship!), Pivetta’s line wasn’t as pretty as Faultyvuckovich, but Pivetta looked better.
Ender Inciarte – 3-for-5, 1 run, hitting .215. Has started slow, but he’s the eastern medicine version of David Peralta in my eyes. A ginseng root to cure your runs and when your team is feeling below average. By the way, what do rapping sherpas say in disbelief? Nepalese!
Christian Yelich – Activated from the DL but not in the starting lineup. Brewers played a man down for a few days when Yelich didn’t immediately go on the DL, and now he comes back before starting. Beginning to think Yelich views the DL like a pimple on his 15-year-old face. Put a Spongebob Band-Aid on it and get out there, you crisis actor!
Josh Hader – 2 IP, 0 ER, 3 Ks and his 2nd save, ERA at 1.54. Craig Counsell should grab the mic, hold it in a real funky manner, and just tell everyone that Hader is his setup man and closer. It’s what the world wants!
Eric Thames – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer, hitting .224. Out of Thames’ career 58 homers, I’m gonna guess 57 of them came before May 15th and 55 of them were against the Reds.
Junior Guerra – 5 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 0.82. Yup, been great, but I’d still go based on matchups, and look at the Stream-o-Nator for now.
Trevor Williams – 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 1.93. He was once again great, terrific, adjective, but I’d just like to point out how much damage Tanaka did vs. the Marlins that T. Will, Pivetta and Faultywirewitz couldn’t rescue my ratios. My ratios are drowning, yo!
Chad Bettis – 7 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 3 Ks vs. Pittsburgh, ERA at 1.44. This was proof again the Pittsburgh offense is better off without Bettis.
Victor Martinez – 3-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 1st homer. Ha! See! He’s not retired! Only his legs. Arms. Feet. Okay, so he’s up there swinging like a seal. So what!
Francisco Liriano – 5 IP, 2 ER, 8 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.55. You know who the Tigers are? A team of guys that should be retired, but likely just don’t want to have to make small talk with their loved ones. Yo, Miggy, go home and talk with Miggy Jr. about the birds and bees!
Trey Mancini – 2-for-4 and his 2nd homer, hitting .299, as he hits leadoff. Almost sorry I endorsed him, because y’all just don’t want him. Don’t do me any favors. I think a 25-homer, .300 guy with upside has value, but if you want Teoscar, chase your dreams!
Shohei Ohtani – 2 IP, 3 ER, and left with a blister on his hand. I liked Shohei, the hitter and pitcher, better than Shohei, the middle reliever.
Mookie Betts – 3-for-3, and his 3rd, 4th and 5th homer, hitting .389. Ya Betts believe that Mookie Ballgame is the Betts!
Jackie Bradley Jr. – 3-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 1st homer, hitting .231. Sonavabench! Somehow, I moved into first in one league with two bench homers (also Kemp), but that was more thanks to Corbin (we’ll get there). Any hoo! JBJ might finally be starting to pull himself out of his early-season funk. If I recall correctly, he does usually get hot as the weather does.
Rafael Devers – 2-for-5 and his 2nd homer, hitting .262. Is it me (it’s not) or is Devers the least exciting middle-of-a-great-lineup, young hitter?
David Price – 5 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners (4 BBs), 6 Ks, ERA at 2.25. Two innings in, I saw he had a no-hitter going and I was like, “That should last for another three batters.” #Nailedit Price obviously looked solid again last night, but he needs to do it for another six weeks before I trust him.
Lance McCullers – 7 IP, 1 ER, 2 baserunners, 11 Ks, ERA at 5.57. *looks at how many pitches McCullers threw* I’m guessing 101 curves worked, and one hung to Cano.
Chris Devenski – 1 IP, 0 ER and the save, because Ken Giles has had three scoreless appearances since 4/7 and last pitched on 4/14. Wait, that’s a not a good reason for Devenski getting the save. Oh, I know, it’s because I don’t know what the Astros are doing. My guess is Giles lost Hinch’s confidence last year, and won’t regain it. If we’re waiting for Devenski and Peacock to be bad, Giles is definitely not getting more than 15 saves this year.
Tyler Chatwood – 4 2/3 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 4.60. Chatwood is not supposed to make it look hard.
Anthony Rizzo – 0-for-3, as he was activated from the DL. Kevin from ESPN’s Get Him In Your Lineup Department said, “I’m ready for another vacation.”
Javier Baez – 3-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer, hitting .235. If I’m being real with you, I wish I owned Baez everywhere and don’t own him anywhere. Sad emoji.
Paul DeJong – 1-for-5 and his 5th homer. A JeDong strikes again!
Bud Norris – 1 2/3 IP, 0 ER and his 4th save, ERA at 1.93. What’s that expression, man makes plans and God laughs? Well, Holland (0 IP, 2 ER in the 8th) planned on being the closer and Bud and the Cards are laughing, at how often Holland’s been. Okay, maybe not laughing, but smirking and shaking their head. I’d continue to hold Holland, but Norris looks like the current closer.
Johnny Cueto – 7 IP, 0 ER, 2 hits, 0 walks, 11 Ks, ERA at 0.45, as he was activated from the DL. Kevin from ESPN’s Get Him In Your Lineup Department said, “Could you just put these in my Inbox and I’ll get to them later?”
Taijuan Walker – Has a UCL injury. Diamondbacks aren’t sure if it’s a tear. Oh nice, it could be one of those good UCL injuries.
Patrick Corbin – 9 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 1 walk, 8 Ks, ERA at 1.65. Hey, I love, love, lurve Patrick Corbin. So don’t get it twisted! Unless a soft pretzel maker is reading this, then I think you have to do your job. One love, pretzel maker! But (here we go undercutting Corbin just a tad), how sad are the Giants? They were relying on Joe Panik to carry them offensively the first week of the season. No, they should just panic. They’re starting Pablo Sanodval — without irony! Which is not to say without ironing, but he doesn’t need that either because his body fills out all the wrinkles and creases. Any hoo! I told everyone to draft Corbin, then I told you again after his first start of the season to pick him up. If you don’t have him, your fault does not equal my fault.
Hey Grey,
Which side?
I’d be getting:
Khris Davis
I’d be giving:
Trevor Bauer and Ryan Zimmerman
My team needs HR and rbi in roto..
My team:
C: realmuto
1B: smoak
2B: altuve
3B: freeman
SS: Anderson
IF: Chapman
OF: springer, Chris Taylor, Michael Taylor, marte
UTIL: Franco, Swanson, Zimmerman
DL: odor
NA; senzel and acuña
SP: Severino greinke pivetta triggs Bauer jmontgomery , Trevor Williams, gausman, Morton, Castillo , Bundy
RP: kela , Vasquez, Rodney,
DL: melancon, knebel
Thanks!
@Josh-NYC: Hold. I wouldnt give Bauer for K-ris Davis. If you want to deal SP, you should get more for Bauer.
@Josh-NYC: Agree with B
yeah stros got us all scratching our heads
@AL KOHOLIC: Look at Altuve and Bregman’s numbers – all over the place.
@BSA: yeah in a shallow 10 team league I dropped Bregman last year right before he got hit but I couldn’t take it anymore. This year all the mediocre power hitting 1st baseman are stinking Alonso Morrison Encarnacion etc just terrible starts and I own Stanton in a keeper league that counts ks against hitters. Killing me
@AL KOHOLIC: Glad I don’t have Giles anywhere
Grichuk…sonovabench.
@Duntroon68: Damn
So, yesterday, with a 9-0 game, Ziegler comes into play and once again he is hit easily and ends with 1 ER which could have been way worse.
I have kept him in my bench for a while, but he just feel useless. Do you suggest to hold or to add someone out of the FA pool? Some guys available: both set ups for LAD, Pomeranz, Skaggs, Puig.
Thanks
@MarlinsBeliever: Uhhh. PUIG!
@MarlinsBeliever:
easy one – Puig
@MarlinsBeliever: Puig
@MarlinsBeliever: The Puig breakout is coming right? Keep reassuring me because I own him everywhere.
@crimedog: I own him everywhere too. Patience is key
Grey, thanks for your insights as always. Kemp or JBJ?
@Clay: JBJ
@Clay: Pretty close likely, I’d go Kemp if can move in and out of lineup… If not, then JBJ
Slightly annoyed that I traded Cueto for cash last week with his performance tonight. He’s been on my roster for two years with blisters.
I figured time to move on, because I have Otahni on my roster to replace him as SP.
Would you look at that, Ohtani leaves with a “blister ” Just a coincidence in fantasy baseball land I’m sure ?
@Hebrew Hammer: the blisters aren’t a coincidence at all, the balls being wrapped more tightly (the juiced balls of the last few seasons) have been mentioned by numerous pitchers to be much more likely to cause blisters, esp vocally by some like AAron sanchez/stroman/at least 3 or 4 others last year had quotes to this effect.
@Hebrew Hammer: Cueto could have blisters again by next week — good to see you!
Grey!!
Nice write-up. Great, now Grimey will say “Only nice.” Sheesh.
a. Good job by McCullers. His curve was pure butter. Tied his record for Ks (11)!
b. Yonny wasn’t bad through 5 innings. He never should have come out for the 6th.
c. Start VV tonight in that same RCL which is desperate for ERA, Ks and WHIP? Made up some ground with Lance last night, but then Jansen made me want to vomit.
d. Mark Twain quote of the day for April 18
Never try to teach a pig to sing. You waste your time, and you annoy the pig.
Cheers,
Ante
@Ante GALIC: Thanks! A. Yeah, finally the curve was working B. True C. Yeah, I’m looking at doing same D. Awesome!
@Grey: Grey!
Thanks, man. I have an open slot for streamers or guys who might get hot etc. Not looking for a cure for cancer that Grey said was 100% and then it turns out to be only sugar.
By the by, signed up Grichuk this AM to slot into my Utility role. So for sure he’s going to tank, right? Only he’s hitting .110 so it can’t get any worse!
Cheers,
Ante
Thanks Grey! Baez or Kingery ROS?
@Chris: Kingery
@Chris:
Javy Baez
@Chris: Baez
In standard 12 man leagues, are you still holding Giles?
@Edwin: or, would you drop him for Devinski? Pedro Baez?
@Edwin:
I would say he eventually turns it around, but there’s no rush by Hinch. He knows he has the division won, so he could go with a closer by committee and still win as many games. Picking up Devenski helps the numbers but it may not help the saves.
@Edwin: Yes, hold with these
@Edwin: I’d likely hold
@Edwin: Devenski was used because the Mariners had two lefties coming up in the 9th inning, and Devenski is better against lefties than Giles. I don’t think it was because Giles is in the dog house. However, if this holds for the season, then Giles will only get about 2/3 of the saves you probably expected, at most.
Hi Grey! Superb recap as always!
If you think about it, a guy named Bud being the closer in Busch Stadium just makes sense. Or do they not sell Buds after the 7th inning there? I dunno…
But reading your blurbs do you drop Giles for Norris? This is my kid’s first fantasy baseball team (a ten-team H2H league against some ESPN bots I assume) so I kind of hope he wins — or is it a teaching opportunity for stressing patience? We don’t bail on guys after three weeks because his manager is jerking him around?
Welcome advice on this (and parenting+fantasy baseball in general) from all of Razzball.
And thanks, Grey!
@JakeTPE: Ha, yup… Think you have to hold Giles
Corbin got two strikeouts in the 9th with sliders in the dirt and excuse me swings. Shit wouldn’t work with the Dodgers.
@Andrew Ball: He went 7.1 with 12Ks, 1H & 1BB against the dodgers earlier this year
@Pat’s Mom: I mean seriously
@Andrew Ball: The Belt hit was bullshizz. I only watched from the 7th inning on, so its possible that maybe a shift saved a hit earlier in the game… but analytics cost Corbin a NH if not. I’m pretty sure that’s what Corbin and Avila were saying on the mound after the last out. Something to that tune at least.
@knucks: Totally! I felt bad for Corbin that he lost a no-hitter on that crap. He deserved better.
@knucks: could be right on that ONE hit, but what about all the other possible hits that were likely saved from this. saying otherwise (unless in THIS particular instance it’s simply not true) is like that guy who plays blackjack, knows what he’s doing, then freaks out and yells at bad players when they “take” his card that would’ve let him win. the thing about those guys, they SHOULD be high fiving that bad player when he takes a card that allows the good player to WIN when he wouldn’t have otherwise, yet they tend to never, ever, do that one.
@Eli Man Penguin Boy: Like I said, started watching in the 7th. Mentioned that there could have been shifts that prevented other hits. And I don’t play cards, but I think I follow…
Acuna and Buxton were dropped and will be available. I have the #1 waiver pick. Is it time to use it on one of them? If so, which one, and who do I cut loose – W. Merrifield, E. Rosario, Mallex, or M. Taylor?
Thanks
@Jaxson: Acuna for Taylor
@Jaxson: Agree with b
J. Montgomery or Pivetta?
And Your brother Mr. Gray, is he still a hold?
@Eric Tuttle: Pivetta. Which Gray..Sonny or Jon. Most likely a hold on both, depending on league context and available options.
@Eric Tuttle: Pivetta
Yo Grey, I’m holding Giles and Devenski, and I’m looking at Norris on the wire. Do I dump Giles for Norris? Saves are one of 10 pitching categories and somewhat devalued. Thanks!
@Phil:
hold
@Phil: Agree with MP
Hey Grey! I’m hurting for a 2b. My Happ is killing me with all the Ks (neg category) and benching. Which side do you like of these trades:
1) Tanaka for DJ Lemahieu
2) Tanaka for Chris Taylor
If I move Tanaka that would leave Corbin, Leaver, Snell, and Shark at the top of my SP group.
@Pb&j: *Weaver
@Pb&j: 1. DJ 2. Taylor
Happ is killing me. Starting to think he’s not worth holding in an 8 team H2H.
Worth picking up Piscotty, Teoscar, or Buxton?
@Alex: Bux
@mrm3711: M. Taylor available too
@Alex: Bux
@Grey: Buxton to the DL with migraines today.
Hope he’s okay (not really, but sound nice)
@Grey: I have him in the REL (remember that? Basically a 15 tm AL only), so I need him!
Blast from the past!
W Ramos finally provided me with some kind of stat yesterday with his first hr. Ianetta was cut in my league. Should I hold Ramos and hope he starts to hit or add iannetta? Obp league.
Chirinos was cut too so he is available.
@Scott: Jow many teams? Ianetta should be owned in an obp league. Especially for Coors weeks
@Scott: I’d prob stick with Iannetta myself, as he has a homestand at Coors beginning on Friday.
@Scott: Iannetta
Grey, could use your help with a trade offer. 12 man 6×6 OPS and holds. I’ve got a surplus of closers with Kenyan Middleton and Nate Jones getting promoted and drafting Osuna and Allen. I’ve also got no 2B because Happ isn’t hitting.
The offer: Osuna and a 2019 2nd and 5th for LeMahieu and a 2019 3rd and 4th
LeMahieu’s off to a good start but he’s always given me a case of the meh in the past. Think I should counter with one of my lesser closers? He’s also got Albies I can go after though I have some sample size concerns there and I’d bet he’s pretty attached to his sleeper. Or is this good value and I should shut up and grab it?
Suppose I could also just sit tight and hope Happ gets it together. Though there are already rumblings that he’s going to start losing ABs to Almora against righties.
My other option is to just grab Cesar Hernandez off waivers. Not super sexy, but neither is LeMahieu.
Appreciate the feedback.
@smstraley: DJ side
@smstraley: Just grab Ceasar until Happ gets it together (or doesn’t)
I wouldn’t be selling saves for LeMehieu power spikes in mid april
@Slappy Jack: Exactly what I did. Gonna save that extra closer to move for some SP.
I have both Tanaka and Y. Chirinos. Ugh!
Rank ROS for 5×5 league:
Tanaka, C. Anderson, Skaggs, T. Williams, Ryu, Chirinos
@phennore:
One more question. Which side for a 16-team 5X5 keeper league (Next year $’s):
Machado($35)
Lamb($18), C. Villanueva($6), Yelich($32)
Thanks much!
@phennore: Machado
@phennore: Tanaka, Williams, Ryu
Hey Grey! Weekly keeper league, $2 Taillon or $11 Ohtani?
@Duda Want to Build a Snowman?: Where are you playing? Yahoo splits Ohtani as a hitter and a pitcher. Weekly roster freeze? If you cannot benefit from the hitting of Ohtani moving forward, or his pitching in a given week, I think Taillon plus $9 is the better value.
@b the esq.: CBS league (single ohtani, but i wouldn’t be using his hitting stats except in some very strage circumstance)
@Duda Want to Build a Snowman?: Taillon
Great write up per usual. RIP Prince.
I watched cueto vs. Corbin last night. Corbin obviously was great. Cueto looked filthy though in a tough matchup. SON did not like it. I hope these blisters don’t resurface and he can stay healthy. If he does I see no reason why he isn’t that sub 3 era 1.10 whip pitcher again. Last year was really his only down year ever and his hands were chapped.
@crimedog: Thanks! Yeah, Cueto needs some serious lotion
Grey, which side of this are you taking, regardless of needs
Judge and Berrios for Thor and Hoskins
@Alex S: Thor/Hoskins
@Alex S:
I’d want Judge and Berrios. I don’t trust any Mets SP to stay healthy and Judge is better than Hoskins.
@Alex S: Agree with b
Morning Grey,
Which SP’s you like better for the rest of the year:
1.) Faria vs. VV
2.) Wood vs. McCulllers
Need to choose 1 of each from the pairings above.
Also, Jay Bruce was dropped; would you drop Gurriel for Bruce?
Thanks in advance
@Dancin Homer: Faria, McCullers, Gurri
@Dancin Homer: VV…McCullers…Gurriel
Better long term bat, Mancini or Villanueva? Thank you!
@H: Mancini
@H:
No one know if VIllanueva is real..he plays a position that is more thin and has more power.
I would go VIllanueva…the ball jumps off his bat…he launches bombs….the sound of his homeruns is different that most players. He has legit power….LEGIT ELITE POWER!
But that batting average should be around .260 or so in the end….so same power, and less average.
@H: Agree with b
Have deshields and myers returning soon
Need speed but not that much.
Should i drop fowler, k.calhoun, mccutchen or kemp ?
Or drop deshields ?
Need to drop 2
@Jogon: Calhoun, Fowler
Camus can do but Satre is smarta
Love me so of those Boriqua games in daily. I think people were a bit mixed up. Kind of like Siri which tried to change Boriqua to Borodin but I may be listening to too much Prince Igor, which would be my walk up music
@Zeus: Haha
@Zeus: Yo, fellas, boriqua!
Would you drop Alfaro for Severino or Weiters moving forward? One catcher 16 team league…
@Nate: Severino
@Nate: Jeez… thought this was Luis for a hot second.
@Nate: Agree with b
Incidentally there was a Warren G version of Polovtsian dances (the specific part to walk up to) if Prince Igor when rap went through a brief flirtation of rapping to booming classical music. It was pretty bad.
I got into it back in college when nothing good was on at 4am and the DC public access had a performance of the opera on. Needless to say it was pretty good when you can’t fall asleep for one reason or another. It’s also better than watching nature shows about elephant culling and crying. Luckily I no longer have that issue as I managed to convince the devil that Head and Shoulders would clear up his scalp
@Zeus: HA!
I need to drop 2 because lamb and Murphy are coming off the dl. Adsrubel, Lamb, villanueva, teoscer, Pomeranz, t Williams, Roark, Mazara, Tim Anderson.
I’m doing great streaming pitching so far, it’s my offense that’s killing me, but getting, Murphy, Myers, Yelich, and Lamb back should do the trick..
@Jubaka: Roark, Pom
1. Someone in my 12 team roto league standard cats wants my Quintana for his Cueto.
Trade anallyzer says Quintana by $8 with W’s, K’s and ERA to his advantage.
That tells me to hold or ask for another piece but what is your gut feeling?
2. Sometimes if a trade offer is somewhat close I like to accept it with the thought the other manager may be more receptive to a future offer of mine. Any merit to this?
@Packers: 2. That seems strange to me. I wouldn’t accept a trade that made my team worse just to establish a good rapport with that manager. As long as you’re not pissing the other guy off.
@Packers: Would def keep Q. Get someone better, or another solid piece in the deal.
I would not make a deal just to get in the good graces of the other manager….who knows if there will be another opportunity to deal with him. As long as youre not trying to screw him over, he should be willing to deal with you in the future.
@Packers: i’ve heard people say they do that i.e. “i’m taking this slightly bad deal now for future value in deals” but this sounds like a loan that never has any actual reason to be paid back at any future date.
-i DO see the value in maybe conversing with another owner when you refuse a trade idea of his to be nice (rather than just nix the deal and don’t say why), and in this manner keep accord for possible future deals, but i wouldn’t take that to mean give away value to HOPE for future value.
@Packers: 1. Hold 2. Nah
@Grey: Thanks to all for the support. I was thinking of giving him my Happ if he throws in Dee. That’s within a buck of being even.
The blister thing from last year causes me some concern. I benched Q for his start vs the Rockies at Coors so maybe he thought I was losing faith. Thanks again.
Sounds fine
Devenski or beach? Leaning toward devinski. 12 team mixed league.
@Justin: Not sure who Beach is. You mean Brach? Autocorrect I think.
@Justin: If Brach, not Brach
@b the esq.: yes brach. Damn auto correct. My apologies razzballers!
Drop Matt Albers? Looks like Hader is the guy.
Also, have Peraza in a 6×6 which includes OPS as additional category. 12 Team league. Is his value significantly lower in a league like that and therefore droppable? Thanks.
@kilkennybrian: More specifically, if I wanted a reliever stash, Albers or Baez/Fields?
@kilkennybrian: Its a fluid situation in Milwaukee, but I want Hader regardless of whether he is getting Saves or not. If Albers is the closer right now and gets the next save or two, so be it. It won’t last. Hader is going to be extremely valuable all year if he keeps this up. And a save or three may fall in your lap here and there. I don’t know if this is Roto or H2H, but I’m adding Hader, no matter the league for now. Find a spot for him.
And to your second comment. If I own Hader, it would make more sense to me to also own Albers than grab one of the Dodgers flyers, as it could easily be the one you don’t scoop. At least with the Brew-crew, you’d maybe have the saves nailed down. But who knows, Barnes could even get the next save.
@knucks:
“Barnes could even get the next save”
Alas, he did.
Ha, yup
@kilkennybrian: Agree with knucks… Can drop Peraza tho no idea who for
Like Bartolo 10 minutes after going through the Hooters drive-thru, I’ve got some things to get off my chest.
1. Anthony Rizzo apparently spend his time on the bench… soul-searching? Where did that come from? Is he making a play for becoming commissioner one day, or is he just having a baseball case of the Mondays (aka, “the Aprils”)? Does Garfield have a friend banned Rizzo with a mug that reads “I hate Aprils”?
2. Fantrax has a terrible user interface. I live the breadth pod tools available, but there’s a learning curve and a half dozen toggles to flip through just to get anything to shoe useful information. It’s honestly one of the most frustrating fantasy experiences (it can’t beat Draftkings, which benefits from puerile losing, and Fleaflicker, which thinks baseball is football). I’m going to stick with it for this year, but I honestly won’t join a league on that service in the future. They’re fine folks, but I find myself dreading the concept of logging in for basic competitive maintenance.
3. The speculation on Senzel and Gleyber is really starting to stress me out. There’s so much of it that I don’t know if one is about to get called up or cooperate with Mueller. Did the Yankees AAA team get raided?
@Fanciful Basesball: 4. I hate my swipe keyboard…
@Fanciful Basesball: 1. Ha! 2. Don’t disagree 3. Haha
I need to drop 2 because lamb and Murphy are coming off the dl. Adsrubel, Lamb, villanueva, teoscer, Pomeranz, t Williams, Roark, Mazara, Tim Anderson.
I’m doing great streaming pitching so far, it’s my offense that’s killing me, but getting, Murphy, Myers, Yelich, and Lamb back should do the [email protected]H:
How much FAAB (out of 100) would you throw on Devenski if you’re in a 12 team weekly league (9 pitcher active spots) and have only 2 closers currently?
Thanks!
@Duda Want to Build a Snowman?: 17
@Duda Want to Build a Snowman?: Prolly throw $6
Drop Jon Gray for Pivetta? Thanks !
@Jon Anglemyer: meh. Not yet.
@Jon Anglemyer: Agree with b
So even though I follow you guys pretty religiously, I went too pitcher-heavy in my draft so I need some more offense (I know, I know). You’ve been a Max Kepler guy in the past, but I think you also like Eddie Rosario – would you trade Kepler and Miller for Rosario? I’m not currently using Miller since I have closers.
@Milarky: You should be able to get more for Andrew Miller.
@Milarky: Agree with b
I warned you tanaka will crush your era. You said in the sleeper post for him with his peripherals you wouldn’t be surprised if he had a sub 3 era… guess you forgot to check hr/9.
Can the Astros just update their depth chart please? On what planet is ken giles their closer?
@Willy Mo: You should really have your own website. The timing of your “Aha” moments is impeccable.
@Cram It: yeah really,Grey isnt a magic crystal ball but gives us his advice and thoughts for free and he is right way more than wrong,thanks to all of the razzball gang
@AL KOHOLIC: The best quarterbacks are those that show up on Monday mornings.
@BSA: exactly
@AL KOHOLIC: is it monday morning qbing if i made the comment and prediction Saturday night before the game? Me and grey debated tanakas era for like 10 comments on his sleeper post, check it out.
@Willy Mo: you sound like an expert to me. It’s his house and he can gloat when he wants to. All hail Grey
@AL KOHOLIC: i dont bowl professionally but i carry a 200 avg, and when i bowl for money i usually win. Same thing goes for fantasy baseball.
@Willy Mo: That’s great. Sounds like you should start your own website. Maybe call it ‘Aha’ or ‘ImaMajorTool’ or ‘ImaBallerAndABowler’. Any of those would work.
@Squat Cobblers: In fact, that would make a GREAT commercial:
I don’t usually bowl…but when I do…
@Willy Mo: Dood. Take your complaints and told you so’s over to the bleacher report comments. This is getting old. Its easy to skim right past your comments. But you should know that there is no point to posting anymore, until you bring a little bit more to the table OR have an actual question/seek advice. Even then, its likely that Grey skips you, since you appear to take his daily, FREE, useful advice and pull a Skip Bayliss on us day in and day out. Wrap your dingy in a Trojan and go pound sand.
-Love, every other Razzball commenter
@knucks: wait dont confuse me. This isnt complaining and im not going anywhere. Just becasue i like to RAZZ a little bit doesnt mean I dont realize this is the best place to go for fantasy. Jeez everyone is hyper sensitive in here.
In the words of Worm played by Ed Norton in the movie Rounders right before hes invited up to Mikes apartment… “TONE DOWN WHAT M***** F*****”
@Willy Mo: he’s got that “gotcha” thing down pat seemingly. bring your damn dancers everyday when you pull this stuff joan callamezzo.
10 team H2H points league where saves are 10 points
I currently have Holland in one of my 4 RP spots. Bud Norris is available. Should I swap them out or continue to wait. Alot of Stl fans in this league so if I switched and then Holland becomes closer later he would probably be gone. What are your thoughts? Thanks!
@Chris: Would pick up Norris dropping someone else if thats an option. Hold both until more info becomes available. Alternatively, if there are a number of STL fans, throw some trade offers out to see who wants them.
@Chris: Agree with b
14 team H2H auction redraft league. Runs, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OPS and Ks, QS, ERA, WHIP, Saves+Holds, K/9
1) in a vacuum, Jake Lamb or JT Realmuto
2) in a vacuum, Patrick Corbin or Aroldis Chapman
3) please rank: Eduardo Rodriguez, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Michael Wacha
Thanks!
@Savoy Special: I feel like you’ve asked this ERod, Ryu, Wacha question everyday for like a week. Take some valium.
@Cram It: I wonder what type of vacuum is being used – Dyson? Hoover? Key question before we can answer any player related ones
@William Hung: woah, I’m come in peace bruh
@Cram It: man, you really read through these comments..
@Savoy Special: I do! I like to help, but sometimes the best advice is helping you learn how be a better fantasy baseballer (Grey’s mom’s term!)
@Cram It: yea at the end of the day, we gotta make the final move ourselves. all good, Cram. I also Control+F player names in the comments so the comments are ultra important too of course
@Savoy Special: pay no mind to cram. He feels special when grey agrees with him so he tries to answer all the commnets here early and in line with exactly what he thinks grey would reply with… Hes one heck of an individual, that cram. A real independent thinker.
@Willy Mo: Yep, ya got me. Been vying for Grey’s approval since 2011.
@Cram It: can you bring somthing to the table for once, you robot? Search willy mo, i dropped a few nuggets for you.
@Willy Mo: @Cram It: I remember once I asked grey a question late last year about where he thought he would rank Altuve for 2018 and you couldn’t wait to reply with something sarcastic like “where he’s always ranked” or something dumb like that and grey quickly came in and corrected you. But it was a nice try.
@Willy Mo: “I couldn’t wait to reply”. Ok guy. You’re just the center of my universe.
“Quickly corrected me”. He gave his response, as he always does…he wasn’t “correcting me”. Altuve’s been in the top 5 for a few years now. Don’t see what the big “Gotcha” is here.
@Cram It: NOT HOW IT WENT DOWN AT ALL! altuve has not beein top 5 for a few years now hahha. At mid season rankings last year Grey didn’t even have him top 10. So late in the year I asked where Altuve will be ranked next year. And I don’t mean like you search for my comment to reply but when you saw it you couldn’t wait to make a dumb sarcastic wrong reply
@Willy Mo: HE WAS RANKED TOP 5 AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON.
Congrats! You picked one innocuous comment I made a year ago that I’m supposed to remember? Ha! Awesome, you da man.
@Savoy Special: Go to the trade analyzer and type in there names and scroll down a little and you will have ros stats.
@Packers: thanks Packers
@Savoy Special: Lamb, Corbin, Ed Rodriguez
@Paul C.: thanks for the feedback!
@Savoy Special: 1. Lamb 2. Chapman 3. Wacha, Ryu
@Grey: thank you, kind sir!
No problem
Devers or Matt Chapman at 3B? It’s early but I thought Devers would be showing more power.
@Jon Anglemyer: meh. Not yet. @Kermit: Devers. Weather in Boston was lousy. He will be fine.
@Jon Anglemyer: meh. Not yet. @Kermit: Devers. Weather in Boston was lousy. He will be fine.
@Kermit: Chapman if OBP league or if you want more HRs.
@Kermit: Agree with b
Middleton or Devenski ROS saves only
Senzel Longo or Moran ROS Pick 2
@ROTO OVERLORD: Saves only I think you go Middleton. Not Longo.
@ROTO OVERLORD: and mofongo is a dominican dish lol not PR
@ROTO OVERLORD: Middleton Devenski or Hader Pick One
@ROTO OVERLORD: I Google mofongo and it says dish of Puerto Rico
Got offered Schoop and “King” Felix for Luis Castillo. I already have a few too many hitters, but is this too good to pass up?
@Papa Jean Segura: f-her shouldn’t be held in nearly all size leagues, you’d be better off with FA guys streaming than him. probably by a LOT, even in 16 teamers you’ll find better out there (i know, i use SON and stream every day in some 16 teamers). schoop for castillo is probably a fair deal, but here you don’t need hitters it sounds like.
@Papa Jean Segura: Schoop
Grey – Thanks for the write-up. The Buxton Blurb had me LOL on the train this morning. Great stuff.
@Five-on-One: Thanks!
Herrro!
Hold Trevor Williams or drop him for Ruy? I also have Giles and Devenski in a league with Holds. Hold Trevor and drop Giles for Ryu?
@Polish neighbor: Drop Williams for Ryu if the next couple matchups are favorable. In a holds league, keep Giles and Devo.
If Trevor Williams’ 14K:10BB in 23 innings is great, I’m very confused.
Methinks be afraid when the weather gets a little warmer.
@Polish neighbor: Ha, Agree with b
Should I pick up Danny Duffy and drop one of these, Roark, t williams,Pomeranz,
@Jubaka: drop williams
@Jubaka: Meh
I heard AJ Hinch on the radio say something interesting. He called Devenski his “lefty specialist.” Devenski “The Dragon” has reverse career splits. His change is murder on lefties. It’s like an old Christy Matthewson vanishing pitch. He leaked some oil last year at the end. I don’t think the can use him quite as much this year. He’s gotten two saves in the last week or so and both times, it’s been clean 9th where there at least a couple LHBs coming up. Last night the ninth was Gordon, Segura and Cano. So if you are holding any shares of the Astros pen and you’re reading the tea leaves, I would expect some saves for Giles and Devenski in the 9th depending on match ups. I think they would also like to get Peacock depending on usage of the other two or also get him some two to three inning close outs as well.
@OaktownSteve: Agreed
@OaktownSteve: the fact that giles only has 5 innings on the season is alarming. I mean hes pitched 1.1 innings over the last 10 calander days. I dont think giles is a hold at this point and i think using the matchups as an excuse for his limited work is just overly optomistic thinking. Cut bait with ken giles.
@Willy Mo: “10 calander days.” …Da Fuh?!? Do you mean you’ve eaten Marie Callender’s Frozen meals 10 straight days?
Was listening to the podcast this am on way to work. At first I thought you and Ralph were on coke or something. Then I noticed I had the speedboost button on and y’all were talking at 1.25x speed. That was a trip.
You need to please get some closure on the crazy Aunt situation. Call her or ask your mom. We need to know.
Is Ralph using a new mic? His sound quality was noticeably worse than usual.
My team is blah. Hitters are quiet. Weather and PPD games don’t help. Moves like dropping Choo (who hit a HR immediately) to pick up Senzel (then GM says no plans to bring him up) don’t help.
@peacecoast: i love listening to podcasts at 1.25, it makes the people sound like i do in regular life (i’m a fast talker). i just like 2 weeks ago even found out it’s possible, saves time too.
@peacecoast: Haha…It’s best if you don’t engage with a crazy aunt… How was my sound quality?
@Grey: Yours was great. The new mic works great!
still early but where are all of those “mookie is going far too highly this year (this was uttered last year too)” guys. oh yeah, and mookie was significantly higher by rudy’s bots (OPS/OBP in particular) the last 2-3 years over even his highest ADP time. if stanton can even sniff his OPS rater numbers (even like 2/3 of it) he’ll be crazy good as well, also too early on that one. for those who didn’t in the preseason use the OPS rater for ROS stanton, it’s some of the craziest shite i’ve seen that thing shove out.
-yesterday in one league i had all of these SP going, so this’ll probably at end of year qualify as best SP day: cueto/folty/pivetta/corbin, with V2/ryu/quintana (yuck thusly), nola left also and that’s a 16 teamer.
14 team h2h with QS, K/9, total bases and hits added, and OBP over AVG.
C uh oh (man gotta love the consistent playing time, outside of suzuki it’s hard to find)
1B sano (3B)
2B au rizz (1B)
3B christ newtown (gotta go against TRON on this guy for now)
SS machado (3B)
OF (3): puig, rosario, brantley
util (2) kingery (about to get 3B/SS/OF), nunez (2B/SS/3B/OF)
BN cron, whit (2B/OF)
DL yelich
NA willie
SP: stroman, wacha, darvish, otani (pitcher only), lucchesi, pivetta, t-will, ryu
RP (4 slots max): giles, soylent greene, strickland, brach
DL shark, a.reyes
1. who’s my drop for shark in less than a week: t-will maybe (due to K/9), but man i just saw that HE is actually involved in razzball. pretty cool IF grey’s love for him turns out to be right (contra to rudy’s bots, who don’t like t-will at all, even when compared to PIT’s other low end guys)
2. who’s my drop for yelich, gotta be cron right?
3. due to OBP suzuki over chirinos right?
@Sinkhole Demayo: 1. Williams 2. Cron 3. Yeah
Ahh once again my 25th rd pick, Corbin, makes me wonder why i drafted Yu Darvish so early as Yu will come in later this week and taketh what Lord Corbin giveth
Oh, and C-eager is a bum. I hope I regret saying that (trying the reverse jinx)
@ChefBoyRG54: baseball giveth and baseball taketh!
@crimedog: universal equilibrium…
@ChefBoyRG54: Haha, yup
Deep 10 team AL only…need to backfill kiermeyer injury….lots of absolute garbage
Orlando
canha

Yuck…
@Thesportsguy: does it have to be an OF, if not what about marte (LAA) or cuthbert?
yes needs to be OF…FWIW Marte available, No on Cuthbert
@Thesportsguy: is this OPS, or OBP here type league?
It’s actually a unique 5×5….we do use AVG but also net runs (Runs minus HR)…increases value of non power guys…
Also, we are limited with number of FA bids (max 20for season if minimum bid each time) so can’t really take guys for short periods…
Avg, no OBP..but we have a twist…5th category is Net Runs (Runs minus HR)…gives more value to Non power guys…
Also, high minimum FAAB allow max 20 pickups per year (reality. Is fewer) so hard to wage bid on short term player…with KK out for 12 weeks, can’t really pickup short term guy…
@The Harrow: if it is one of those heredia SEA has had a fairly good OBP lately. also that TEX 2B call up did well once yesterday.
@Thesportsguy: Canha
Great Write Up as always Grey… Long time reader/subscriber and usually find the answers I am looking for in write ups, tools or comments. However, I am in a 12 team Points league and Trade analyzer has these closers at a dead heat more or less.
I need to drop one to stream pitching… Vizcaino or Treinen. I appreciate your help.
@clemsoncrusher: Meh…I guess Vizcaino
Hey Grey, I’m SAGNOF chasing on a winter’s day (still freezing here in Boston!) – Hold Albers (who didn’t pitch last night despite having a day’s rest) or cut him for Pedro Baez? Grazie!
@mrm3711: Hold
Hey Grey
1 Drop Garrett Richards for Vinnie Velasquez or Steve Matz or Sean Newcomb?
2 Drop Nick Senzel for Ryan Braun?
3 Loved the line “he’s actively terrible” – i got a bunch of those kind of guys on my team!
@Murph:
1. Newcomb
2. If you do not need to actively start them every day, wait and see on Senzel. If Braun is on waviers, you should be able to find someone else if Senzel stays down long.
@Murph: Hold Richards if you want W/Ks, otherwise Matz. Braun over Senzel if position doesn’t matter.
@Murph: 1. Agree with b 2. Yes 3. Thanks!
@FrankGrimes: good stuff in that one. they didn’t even mention he’s actually a better pitcher than some of the guys at the back of CIN’s bullpen. i’m not kidding on this.
When is a good time to panic with Stanton… was offered Rendon straight up.
@Kyle Cameron Eberth:
Rendon ain’t done squat either.
@Kyle Cameron Eberth: Not now. Hold.
@Kyle Cameron Eberth: Hold. Don’t even consider this.
@Kyle Cameron Eberth: July
In the crazy game of catcher roulette, do you trust Brian Mcann or Francisco Cerveli in your lineup every week
@Nightmare!: mccann, he’ll at least hit HR’s from time to time. cervelli is liked TODAY by TRON though.
@Nightmare!: Agree with Eli
Which side do you prefer in deal – Ray/Giles or Lester/Kimbrel? Thanks.
@hankg:

Hey Grey, couple of questions for a 10-team H2H, standard categories.
1. My Miller/Dozier/Braun for his Altuve— jumping off point for negotiations on the trade that makes my season, or insulting offer that prevents me from mining a last place owner who might be getting trigger happy at some point in the future?
2. My later round pitchers are all cruising right now, and I want to try to sell high on one of them. How would you rank Bundy, Morton, and Taillon ROS?
@Avrambe: 1. Altuve 2. Morton, Taillon
Good morning, Grey,
I was gonna ask about starting Weaver in Wrigley today, but just read that the game is now postponed. Would you start him tomorrow vs Lester in RCL?
Crazy how many postponements there are this year. It’s also a new wrinkle we might want to keep in mind when trading for certain guys playing for cold-weather teams (Cubs, Twins, ChiSox) who’ve had their games postponed. We may be getting more games/stats from them in a deal if we’re trading away a guy who plays for a warm-weather team that might not have faced any postponements.
At least the postponed Cubs game will ensure Ian Happ doesn’t strike out today. On the good side, the cubs are about to go to Coors, and my (pipe)dream is that Happ hits a ridiculous amount of homers there that not only turns his season around but sticks him in the lineup for as close to permanent as Maddon gets. Fingers crossed!
@GrassyKnollRedding: I would re: Weaver — I had same Happ dream
guessing this “vargas is nearly back” situation means wheeler’s out of a job again right. if only they had a name for what kind of mess this.. team is. hmmm.
@Eli Man Penguin Boy: I’d guess Wheeler’s out
@Eli Man Penguin Boy: id bet harvey is out. Check out this stat, harvey hasnt even attempted to pitch into the 6th inning in any of his past 12 starts. Not even one pitch in the 6th. Hes shot and the mets know it, id be shocked if they pull wheeler right now.
Hold wheeler.
FYI, Dave Roberts acknowledged that Kenley is, in fact, not right.
@Wilsonian: You don’t say Dave!
Rizzo already with a DL stint, now I hear he’s complaining the season is too long and they play too many games. Sounds like someone hit the 30 cliff a year too early.
@crimedog: where is a link to the line “season is too long” gotta read this one. it’s those damn stiff-back hotel beds.
@crimedog: HA!
Dynasty keep forever OBP league…
Johnny Cueto, Lance McCullers, Corey Seagar
for
my Xander Bogaerts, Daniel Murphy, Dylan Cease and Tyler O’neill?
@Bucktail30: Seager
Would you drop Strickland for Baez of Fields? I assume Strickland is still the closer, but I don’t know if he’ll ever get a save opportunity.
Also, who would you roll with in the Jays outfield today against righty Kennedy? Granderson has the split, but Pearce and Grichuk hit well yesterday, but so did everyone else….Hopefully the lineup comes out before roster lock time.
Thanks Grey
@jose: No.
I know HT likes Pearce. At least he’s my batty call at the moment, haven’t looked at Ganderson or Grichuck today. But yea make sure he starts and I’d roll with Pearce if he’s in the lineup.
@knucks: thanks
@jose: Agree with knucks
So what week exactly is the time to panic on the horrible start of your redraft team and make over emotional trade offers to get rid of “struggling” hitters you drafted in the first 7 rounds or so?
@Ron Pridgen: it’s gotta vary but a lot like…
1. depth of league
2. which players in question(both being held and available in FA)
3. how many moves per week/year (if any limits at all)
having said that franco was a hold last year FAR too long, but the time he was a “drop” all the jumped out of nowhere CI guys last year (smoak,bour, shaw, others) were all gone. like the year arrieta came out of nowhere if you were holding onto too many expected value but underperforming SP at the time and didn’t even have room for one new guy (arrieta) that stung pretty badly.
@Eli Man Penguin Boy: Good points there…
1) 10 team H2H Points league
2) I know this sounds crazy but…Stanton and Donaldson are in question for trades. Not many on the WW above 50% owned.
3) $1 per WW pickup and $5 per trade. No limits.
@Ron Pridgen: i wouldn’t trade for son of donald, stanton do trade for.
@Ron Pridgen: Beginning of May
@Ron Pridgen: Agree with eli
Keeper league: Berrios or Kingery?
@bob: Team needs based on your other keepers.
@bob: What b said
@bob: Agree with others
In my HtH hold league I used your strategy of drafting relief pitchers at the end of the draft. I went after only hold pitchers and so far with my starters and hitters look good except for postponed games have really hurt.
@OldNavy: Gotcha
Please pick 2 off this list that should be closing games in September (yes, a lot can happen and will in the next several months but always rostering for the playoffs)
Brach, Holland, Strickland, Melancon.
@DodgerWindowClosed: Strickland, Holland
I’m sinking fast in my league and looking for some drift wood.
1. Cargo, Kole, Kemp, Haniger, Bruce, Mallex – Which two OFs do I leave on the WW?
2. Kinsler, Panik, Whit, DeJong, Ketel, Solarte, Semien – Which three MIs do I leave on the WW?
3. Villanueva, Joyce, Avisail, Aledmys, Moran, Nimmo – Top 2 pickups?
Thanks.
1. I think you want Haniger and Bruce
2. WW is Panik, Ketel and Solarte
3.pickup Avisail and Villanueva
@Ron Pridgen:
1. Kemp and Bruce stay on waivers
2. Kettle, Solarte, Semien stay on waivers
3. Pick up villanueva, Aledmys
@Ron Pridgen: Ron, you’re making us think too much. I had to count and shit. Maybe stick with one way to ask the question.
1. Pick 4
2. Pick 4
3. Pick 2
Might just be me, but I feel like that’d be easiest. Not trying to nit pick, I just think it makes it easier on everyone.
@knucks: It’s interesting how we all think differently cause at the time I actually thought that to pick 4 to keep was more work than pick 2 not to keep.
Either way I will keep this in mind going forward. Good feedback is always good. Thanks Knucks.
@Ron Pridgen: Agree with b
If you had to pick one…Baez or Fields?
@Carmine: fields
@Carmine: Saves? Fields
Devenski? I have Hader as my third close and he has actually been getting saves. I have Wacha and Senzel as my 2 reserves. Drop any of those for Devenski ROS? Thanks.
@DonnieB: Lose Wacha
@DonnieB: I’ve dropped Senzel
Dump Marwin Gonzales?
@Regan Sayer: Nah
Nuetral setting, do you want Kluber and gennet or bregman, morrow, and deshields?
@Hurt Yoenis: Kluber
@Hurt Yoenis: Agree with b

Was offered Mookie and Cody Allen for my Severino and Familia. It weakens my pitching, but this is a no-brainer, no?
@Sam: Yes
@Sam: Agree with Cram
@Grey: Would you drop Eddie Rosario for Yoan Moncada? Trade analyzer has it as a roughly $7 difference in Rosario’s favor, but the ROS stats have them pretty close with Rosario getting a slight bump in HRs and RBIs, while Moncada gets the edge in Rs and SBs
@William Hung: You know I like Rosario better from preseason rankings, nothing’s changed
@Grey: Yeah just checking to see if he’s the type of player we ride through the slow start.
I’m hoping he is pulling a Rendon with the yawnspitting April before surging ROS
Think you need to hold longer than 15 games
Keeper forever. Got lots of future bats ie Moncada Acuna Jimenez Devers Correa Kyle Tucker. Can I drop Brinson for the likes of Franchy Cordero? Thanks!
@Ian: Sure
What’s up Grey
Piscotty is heating up a little, him or peralta going forward?
@Bill: Peralta
One more I forgot! Quintana on wire. Drop Mahle for him?

Thanks!
@200 Proof: Puig
Looking at clearing a spot for either Mallex or Delino (12 team 6×6 OPS).
1. Which of those two do you like better ROS? and…
2. Who would you drop at this point between Gausman, Sonny Gray and Tanaka?
@smstraley: Delino 2. Gausman
Did you see Brandon Belt’s junk “hit” that broke up Corbin’s no-no with two outs in the 8th? Belt should feel terrible about himself this morning. I mean, really, he should have just walked down to first so that Ahmed could throw him out. Where’s Brian Dozier to shame Belt after that?
@Pouss-Pouss: Ha, nah didn’t see it…Was watchign The Looming Tower on Hulu which was excellent if you have Hulu
@Grey: or pirate bay
Hader Middleton or Devinski ROS Saves
@ROTO OVERLORD: Middleton
Would you offer Chris Taylor for acuna?
@EZ: Sure
Standard 10-team, season-long roto.
1B Freeman / Abreu
2B Schoop (DL) / Merrifield

Trade Ozuna for Jose Ramirez? Fair? Do it?
@Play Ball: Yes
Which side are you on? Olson for Puig.
11-team roto standard hitting cats and OBP
Thanks. Great stuff as usual!
@RobMac: Puig, thanks!
Got Wood?
Still getting the ‘Alex Wood ain’t quite right’ vibe?
@Joel: Nope and yes
12 team H2H 6×5 with OPS
Drop old side arm Ziegler for either Devenski, Ottavino, Fields.
Have only Hader, Kela, Miller for RP.
Thanks
BB
Nah
@Brian Boyle: I would drop for any of them, he’s hot garbage
Dev first, then Fields
Tyler O’Neill is up! Forecast?
Nice!
Cloudy with a chance of no playing time
@Grey: Pham kept pulling and streatching his right hammy last night,sending him for mri
Hope he’s out for a while (don’t think he is tho)
So in a weekly lock H2H league, I own a mess of Vizcaino Colome Giles and Devinski.
As of now:
1. Do you bench Giles and Devinksi and just roll with Viz and Colome or
2. Start Giles/Devinski both together along with one of Viz or Colome?
Thanks!
1. sure
Cards bringin up Tyler Oneil. What do u think of him?
35+ HR power, no PT
Do you think Strickland is a fair trade for Castellanos?
Thanks
Yes
Love having my morning coffee with these updates then checking out the FA market with Teoscar on my team, and Mancini just off waivers. Drop, click, add, click.
That and seeing my trade offer to sell Ohtani (hitter) and Familia to get DeGrom – accepted.
Aaah – were’s my OJ.
Haha
Grey, does Tyler O’Neil have a spot to start? His he cody 2.o?
Don’t see where he plays
@Grey: Me neither, I read your blog from the fall. I will grab him to see what happens. I know he is on fire at AAA. 4 HR and 18 RBI. Read something about Pham and his groin. Hader is not doing anything. Man Cardinals have a stacked farm.
Yeah, agreed
@chris pierce: hader actually has been doing stuff last 3 starts and some pinch hits, before that little.
@Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season: that’s bader, you got me doing it.
Need saves in non-keeper! Drop Peacock, Holland, or Chatwood for O’Day or Fields (or both)?
Chatwood for Fields
Matt Kemp or Odúbel Herrera? Great stuff as always!
Thanks! Kemp
Yo Grey, 5×5 11-team mixer, are you trotting Ian Kennedy out there @ Toronto? How about Matz at home against Bryce Harper and the Nats?
I know you’re starting Ray against the Giants, but man, he has not been good.
Thanks for the help!
I’d not starting either Ian or Matz… C’mon, Ray, it’s the Giants
I hate entertaining trades this early. Just got offered Kingery for my Cueto. WWGreyD?
I could use Kingery at 2B with Schoop gone and Happ sucking but don’t really want to deplete pitching yet.
My SP’s are C-Mart, Bauer, Corbin, Wood, Cueto, Wacha, Ryu (spot starter)…but you have to make 7 starts a week or stats don’t count.
14 teams.
That’s tough, I’d prolly take Kingery, but I’d try to get more
5×5 OBP. Ratios are doing alright but somehow I am looking early like I am going to be short on K’s even though I tried (and obviously failed) to follow your draft advice here. Staff below, need to trim and start streaming more, Pomeranz coming off the DL soon so I think I need to drop 2 to get a streaming spot, who would you send packing?
R. Ray
Corbin
Wacha
T. Williams
Luis Castillo
C. Morton
Luccessi
T. Williams
Y. Chirinos
I. Kennedy
Yonny, Ian
I have Giles and Devinski – what the shizz do I do? Hang on to both of them and see what happens?
Hold
When I see Jarlin I think how nice a hot cup of DaJarlin’ Tea would be. Like the pitcher it’s only good a few times a year
Haha, nice

First off, love the stuff ( articles, writers, stache) and sorry if 50 people have asked already but you guys douing a weekly 100 pitchers this year ?
I’m currently in 4th but doing okay considering half my team is hurt/in the minors. I’m thinking of cutting bait on Brinson but who would you pick you out of the waiver wire guys ? Also, anyone else on my team worth swapping out? (what about Beckham?). Based on the RP available, should I grab 1 or 2 RP’s to try and help lower my pitching stats ? My team is below.

HanRam or Devers ROS?
@HomerHWBush: or better yet, how would you rank HanRam, Devers, and Edwin ROS?
Devers
Dynasty league:
Drop Ryan McMahon for Tyler O’Neil? (Really no need for another OF prospect as I own Acuna, Tucker and Robert)
Drop for Luis Urias
Hold McMahon
Sure
hey Grey, need some saves help…would you drop Luchessi to add Devenski?
Or drop Mallex Smith for Devo…thanx!
Mallex
So are we going to the Bellinger ROY bobblehead night and then we can sell yours to mybuddy who slings that stuff
Did he resell last year’s?
@Grey: oh yeah. He share a booth at the twice a week collectibles show in City of Industry.
I wanna go!
Pitching staff:
Syndergaard

Strong enough to trade one of Thor/Sevy for a top 20 bat?
You mean one of them? Sure
Drop Flaherty or Gyorko for O’Neill in NL-only H2H redraft?
Flaherty
@Grey: Thanks Grey
No problem
@Weird Fishes: his playing time won’t be good, probably even if pham’s groin is more messed up than reported. o’neill not a good fielder and LF is his only real defensive home on this roster (ozuna’s spot). pham isn’t getting benched unless really hurt, fowler same thing. bader still there (any OF he can play) and he’s starting to hit finally too. not saying to not drop flaherty here but i’d not assume at bats either.
@Aubrey Plaza’s Pillow: Thanks! Did not realize LF is his only spot. Sounds like he’s a bench bat for sure barring injury to one of the corner OFs.
Rendon for Beltre and D.Swanson.
Which side?
Rendon
@Grey:
That’s what I wanted to hear.As a Nats(and Razzball) fan,I thank you Sir.
No problem
yelich alert, either yahoo is pulling their shit OR some lineup pages are off.
Think he’s playing
Trade offered to me:
My Ken Giles
for
His Julio Teheran
I have Morrow and Colome as my current closers.
Giles makes me nervous and I feel like Teheran could have some upside with his recent performances.
Do the trade?
Nope
@Grey: Thanks Grey
No problem
@Grey: Thanks Grey
No problem
Hey grey, Moncada and Quintana dropped In my league.
Think either are worth blowing a 5/10 waiver claim and in which order. Thanks man.
Also…hurray for owning Corbin! Thought for sure he’d be your lede :)
Yes, Quintana — I just had a Corbin lede two weeks ago
@Grey: Oh yeah that’s right! Totally forgot. Cool thanks man.
No problem
$1000 FAAB 13-team keeper league, deepish, lacking power on my squad, currently got Cozart at 2B.
Someone dropped DeJong — how much is too much to bid? Was mulling over $250.
Yeah, $276
@Grey: if so it’s just yahoo garbage then (which we’ve seen before)
@Aubrey Plaza’s Pillow: and now it’s back ok on yahoo’s end, it went
playing (green check)
not playing (red)
playing again
and while like 80% of the time on these it’s just yahoo being wrong, i’ve seen the reverse before as well.
Great as always, Grey.
How would you rank Peralta, Mazara, Dickerson, and Rosario going forward?
Flip last two
Great as always, Grey.
How would you rank Dickerson, Mazara, Peralta and Rosario going forward?
Thanks!
Flip last two
R. Lopez or J. Gray ROS?
Pham going for MRI on hammy,was acting funny last night streatching it but cards didnt have anyone else to put in for him,,i think mlb could expand roster size by 1 myself
R.o.s..h2h 10 team categories.. please rank in order..Mancini..Schwarber…m.Taylor..bradley Zimmer.?..thank you
@Gonzomania: Also
R.o.s..Nicolas..pivetta..Vasquez..richards
Pivetta
Rosario, Haniger, Mancini, Choo
Who is the worst of the bunch long term??
Should I just flip a coin?
Multiple coins. How many coins?
Amed
Yo Grey, streamer options today, gotta choose 1 to start, who you rolling with? Happ vs KC, SON $17.3 or Matz vs WSH, SON $15.2
Happ
Hey Grey! Nice write up. Wish I had listened on Corbin.
I’m looking to tune up my roster and I’ve got Bradley Zimmer and Jordan Montgomery on the chopping block. 10 team, 14 catagory H2H league, with HR/RBI/R/SB/AVG/OPS/K on the offensive side and W/L/K/ERA/WHIP/K-BB/NSV on the other hand.
Would it be worth it to drop Zimmer for Kemp/Piscotty/Franchy/Teoscar Hernández or Mazara?
Also for JoMont, do you trust Colon, Roark, or Gausmann more?
Thank you again for all your snark and wit.
Sure, Mazara — Roark, barely — Thanks!
@Grey: No, thank you and your glorious mustache.
Haha
Jose Martinez or Mancini ROS????
Mancini
@Grey:
Thumb up emoji
Braves sign Joey Bats??
Hey Grey,
In a standard 14 team redraft, who you pick up Moncada over
Bour, Swanson, Margot, Pirela, or my stash of Calhoun.
I basically need help in every category, especially homeruns.
Calhoun
Hello Grey! Fantasy Baseball version of FMK. We’ll say F is the short term hottie, M is the guy for RoS, and K is… well, that still applies…
CarGo, Zobrist, Reddick?
F, K, M
@Grey: Good to know we have the same taste in men. Thanks!
Haha
1) which of the following prospects would you want to have on your bench for potential and callup potential (pick 2 of them): Nick Senzel, Willie Calhoun, Tyler O’Neill
2) would you drop Miguel Andujar or Yanderis Solarte to get the one you did not pick from #1 ie. the 3rd one
Thanks
1. O’Neill was called up 2. No
@Grey: So which two of Senzel, Calhoun and O’Neill would you want to have?? Thanks.
O’Neill, Senzel
Hello Grey,
Great write up as always. I love the comment about Hittertron shoving it up its metal can! I too am an owner of Tanaka and boy he is tough to trot out there every 5th day. Good thing I have Weaver, Bauer, Snell and Corbin in that league. Speaking of said league, is Vargas an add in a 12 Team Yahoo H2H League with Holds and OPS? Not sure who I would be dropping, but assume it’s someone that deserves it.
Thanks much Grey.
I hear ya… I wouldn’t mess with Vargas outside of streams, so depends on matchups
Definitely tough luck for Pivetta.
Velocity was fine, just didn’t have his swing and miss stuff working. However, if that is an ‘off night’ for him, I’m buying all day.
Agreed
Grey, with the Bautista and O’Neill news items today, pick up either/both and drop Dyson, Parra or B. Anderson? 5×5 NL only keeper. I really need SBs the most, but Dyson whiffing so far and power adds always useful.
@birrrdy!: Dyson the OF for Ari, to clarify…
Hmm… Tough call, prolly hold there, but if you need power over SAGNOF, Bautista over Dyson
I need to drop one of Andujar, Franchy, Preston Tucker, or Eduardo Escobar to activate Yelich. 14 team ESPN 5×5. Who goes?
Great write up as always Grey, thanks for all you guys do!!!
Franchy
I’m weak at pitching. Been offered my Sano(I also have K. Seager) for his Taillon. Yes or No?
I’d want more
@Grey: that was my initial thought as well. He also has archer and gray. Counter with one of those ?
Archer is fair
@Grey: do you like Archer better ROS than gray?
Yes
@Grey: Danke
@Grey: weekly roto redraft. Severino/C Santana for Springer/Soria? Thanks.
Springer
Hey Grey,
Have a bit of a logjam at RP in my 12 team H2H keeper league. Currently have Chapman, Boxberger, strictland, Treinen and just picked up Devenski last night. Was thinking that I might be able to deal him to the Giles owner later. Once he starts panicking. Just not sure what to do with this sudden wealth of relievers. They all seem pretty entrenched at closer(minus Devenski)with good peripehrals. I have no problem keeping 3-4 RPs but 5 is ridiculous. Which would you look to deal first. Thought about trying to package one with Jose Martinez or Thames for an upgrade at 1b. Would get the most return on Chapman on name value alone but he is easily the most valuable.
Deal Aroldis, you’ll get something
@Grey:
What about Thames/Jo Martinez and Devenski for somebody like Abreu? W.Myers? Hosmer? I know that its a longshot but you have to strike when the iron is hot
Sure, doubt it tho
Ayo Grey,
Who tickles your merkin more ROS, Yonder Alonso or Ry Zimmerman?
Thanks!
Merk
Merkin! Zimm
Luis castillo and yoan moncada
Byron buxton and nick senzel
Wich side in a dynasty league?
Bux
Howdy Gray. Still believe in Eddie Rosario? Have an offer to deal him for Greg Holland. Which side you prefer?
Rosario
hey Grey
javier baez or tim anderson ros?
thanks
Baez
Hey Grey, would you drop either Franchy or Teoscar to pick up Andujar in RCL? Thanks a lot!
Franchy
Hello Grey,
Thanks for the earlier response. One more if you don’t mind. I seem to recall you mentioning something about Matt Boyd. He is pitching now and his numbers look good so far. Any interest? It would either be for the 10 or 12 Team H2H Yahoo League.
Thanks much Grey.
I think he’s garbage
ROS Matt Olson or Carlos Santana?
Would deal one of those two + Schwarber for Manaea/Foltynewicz?
Santana… Nope
R. Lopez or J. Grey ROS? Thanks in advance
Gray
Luke weaver/schoop or merrifield/Quintana in an OBP h2h league
Luke weaver/schoop or merrifield/Quintana in an OBP h2h league
Whit
Grey, great write-up as always.
Trade question: My Darvish and Conforto
for
His Jose Ramirez
Fair? Which side do you like?
Thanks!
Jo-Ram
One more question.
Darvish or A. Wood?
Thanks for the help.
Yu
Hi Grey,
If you can only grab one, Pedro Baez or Josh Fields?
Thanks
Fields
Has Baltimore become a team to stream against or what? That offense is doo-doo right now.
Camden scares me (I know they’re not there today), but they look awful…
@Grey: I was going to stipulate away from Camden. I wouldn’t have streamed Boyd if it was in Baltimore but I think I would stream anyone that’s not complete garbage in a home game against them.
Yeah, agreed
Josh Hader blurb—-so, so true.
Also.— I would pay decent money to eat dinner at the counsell house, just to see how he holds silverware.
In a very funky way
Hi! Great write-up.
In a H2H, 5×5, Yahoo 12 team:
Miguel Cabrera or Trey Mancini ROS?
I was offered former for my Mancini
Thanks!
Mancini
I was reading Oaktown above about the Astros pen and it reminded me of a recent conversation I had with Magoo. The evolution of how managers use their pen is leading me to favor sv+hlds vs just saves alone. Its just something I’m not sure I want to commit to yet. In the past it felt like there were more clear cut roles but now its getting very ambiguous with some teams. And honestly it makes more sense from a real baseball perspective. Take the current problem with Kenley. People over invested and are now burned. But if they were paying attention last year or even to me in the comments last year, Roberts was over-using him when he didn’t have to. Sending him out to face the 6,7,8 hitter with a three run lead after pitching 2 of the last three games was dumb. Sorry, I really hate Roberts. Im digressing too much here. AnyDAhoo, what is the best way to fix this for fantasy. If you go sv+hld then closers have zero value outside of their K’s and ratio help, if you leave it the way it is then you spend more time and roster spots than necessary trying to guess the next save opp. My best guess so far would be to count saves as two points and holds as one. Ugh I hate this.
There’s always Saves & Holds, no?
@Grey: its like you skimmed the comment…nevermind
No, I didn’t… I’m saying Saves as one category and Holds as another
@Grey: oh, my bad. I have been trying to figure out a way to do it that keeps loopholes closed. I’ve also been loving OBP this year
Yeah, I’ve come around on OBP… Still prefer 5×5, but it’s nice when Harper goes 1-for-1 with three walks…
@Grey: we did 5×5 with OBP instead of avg and sv+hld instead of sv and so far I like it. Less SAGNOF stress and guys who start are more rosterable because they take walks to guy with their .240 BA
Agreed on OBP, Saves+Holds has problems as you wrote before
@Grey: But its like QS, if they changed the definition of it to a sliding scale ie based on the ERA, then it works. 2 points for a save and 1 for a hold is my best guess so far
Oh, yeah, something like that could work, nice idea!
Like I told Kenny from Rotowear today. I’m an ideas man with zero execution skills
A total flukazy!
SON loves Tropeano v the Sawx tomorrow. Do we agree? Seems a bit optimistic…
I’d stream him
Happ still killing me in 12 team h2h. He’s in my utility spot, so I can pick up anyone. Thames, Villanueva, Frazier, Kemp, Whit, solarte or wait for senzel, willie or Torres to get called up.
Thames
Re: Greg Holland. WTF, Does he suck now? Drop him for Norris, Hader, or Devenski or weather the storm? 10 tm H2H.
Meh, it’s been what? 3 appearances?
@Grey: Four! But one was 0.0 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 2 ER (INF WHIP and ERA).
If Infinity is not a number but rather a theoretical concept, can that count as an appearance? Who said baseball isn’t the thinking man’s game!
In conclusion, I’m giving Holland until Monday to get his shizz together.
Gotcha
@Stumanji!: the first one (the 4 BB’s, one intentional, no outs) was when he hadn’t pitched against anybody above high A (he had NO camp at all) and it was cold. he was badly wild in that one, last night he wasn’t bad, the baez HR was actually a good pitch. and the first BB the ump F’d him a bit. the 2nd BB was on him. his other inning when he came in while losing by 2 in i think the 7th was fine.
G Holland was just cut. Would you drop Strickland for him. Holland will close eventually, right? Thx
Hold
Best choice to fill in for Ian Happ until he starts producing more : C. Hernandez or Panik?
Hernandez
So I ended up holding on to Moncada as I got side tracked and didn’t drop him early this week … aaaaand he’s on the bench…
Sonavabench!
Drop Brian McCann for Zunino? Better counting stats ROS for standard, season-long roto?
Sure
Longoria just got got dropped, pick him up for villanueva?
Nah
Teoscar dong. Mancini 1/5. You know what’s coming tomorrow ;)
Haha
Pick 2:
Franco, Villanueva, Teocar
Thanks
Not Maikel
Moncada with another slam (GS variety) and legs today
I saw
Would you start Berrios tonight vs. Tribe? I am in a head to head and need to improve ERA/Whip. Don’t need wins or k’s.
Yup
is Jed just hot? would you like Jed or Moncada?
Moncada
So glad I waited and saw with Pivetta.
Doh
Ps – getting pretty sick of these damn rain Outs.
Also Benintendi is trash. Tickertease yesterday. Mookie hits three homeruns, and he can’t even get a single afterwards? Gah. And to think, I flip the coin between him and starling marte. Gah! Again,
I hear ya
C Question Alert!
Is Tucker Barnhart a sizeable enough upgrade to Russell Martin to be worth spending $1 of my $100 FAAB? Or, should I just sit back and Russell be the meh full time catcher he is + ignore the below-mendoza line start?
@Duda Want to Build a Snowman?: Pedro Severino is the other option.
Nah, hold the meh
I have two possible trades,
Trade A – I give up Familia and Severino for Mookie and Cody Allen
Trade B- I give up Buxton and Familia for Judge and Solarte
Is there a better one of the two? Or should I just hold on to Familia?
You’re not getting Betts or Judge, but sure
@Grey:
I was offered both of those, sorry should have clarified. Was wondering which one I should accept
Betts
Drop haniger, Teoscar, Ohtani
For Jackie Bradley, Tyler O’Neill, Andujar
Which hitter would be your first drop if you wanted to go for a streamer…
Ohtani for JBJ
Grey,
Drop Brian McCann for Zunino in standard season long roto league?
Yes
Starting nova @philly?
Nope
12 team points league, weekly lock, no negative points for strikeouts. Teoscar or Villanueva?
Teoscar
1. Who should I drop – Gurriel or Vallenueva? (laeaning towards Gurriel)
2. Who should I pick up – Samardzia or Pomeranz? (leaning towards Pomeranz)
3. Who should I drop – Luchesi or Junis? (Leaning towards Junis)
Villanueva 2. Samard 3. Junis
Weekly lock league I’ve been subbing in Puig Jo -Ma Moncada Conforto, 2 of them being on bench weekly. I’d rather trade off but would you drop any for Ryu Lucchesi Wacha or hold for now.
Hold
Or better still, trade
Batty call tomorrow–Teoscar vs Sabathia—away Ketel Marte vs. Blach home Leonys vs. Cobb home
aaaand DeShiedls coming back–cut Tim Anderson or M.A, Taylor or Owings
Teoscar — Owings
please pick two for batty call. thank you.
@Dau Tranh: pearce (vs lefty), ketel one vs blech
@goodfold2: Yes thank you, I was thinking Teoscar as someone who might stick but Pearce is a good choice for batty call.
@Dau Tranh: teoscar isn’t just a batty call right now. he’s a pending hold (don’t drop if you have him this second). i mean in like a 10 teamer or something you could likely drop teoSCAR. TRON loves ketel one tomorrow too (and really ANYBODY against blech would work)
@goodfold2: sorry, i didn’t see your 1st comment, thought you were just flinging “pick some batty calls” question out there. delino when back probably over owings or if it’s positional taylor.
Grey
I have 6 relievers for 5 spots we have categories for holds and one for saves. My relievers are:
Hader
Minter
Osuna
Boxberger
Kela
Rodney
Would you trade Rodney for Knebel? I could put Knebel on the dL and pick up another player.
Sure
Samardzija or Lucchesi rest of year
Lucchesi, but hard to say
ok, triggs was SON’s likely biggest fail of the year (worse than any of those cullers cullers starts by a LOT), 13.2 today, whip was 5.25 in 1.33 innings.
Ouch
@Grey: it was either ALL h2h leagues or at least mostly those. so no wrist slitting behaviors as of yet.
Ah good
That Chris Taylor k-rate is making me nervous – can’t complain about those counting stats though
Yeah
Would you try to pry Jansen away from a nervous owner?
Strickland or Boxberger a better offer?
Thanks
Box
Madson not helping here.
That was ugly
Grey, drop Ryu and Wheeler for Duffy and EROD.
These would be bench players.
Kershaw
Strausburg
Nola
Bundy
Tailon
Gray, J is on the bench
Freeman plugged on the same wrist he broke last year. FML, I finally get Arenado back tomorrow and now Freeman may have broken his wrist
To think, I actually read one update that said “it was a fluke injury so it’s not likely to happen again.“. – now THAT is a proper jinx.
@Lucky Dog: i watched the video of it, and compared to what he looked like last year it wasn’t as bad. i mean his reaction, not attempting any objective analysis based just on “where it hit” alone. he seemed more angered than in pain.
@Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey: agreed – he looked frustrated, not in agony. Walked pretty calmly – none of that means anything though. Hopefully it’s a bruise. Commence praying.
@Lucky Dog: exactly, he looked annoyed more than anything, like “AGAIN with this shit!” when you just broke your hand/wrist your brain pretty much doesn’t let you start with that kind of thought, not yet anyway. that doesn’t mean he’s fine at all of course, it just very likely means it’s not as bad as last year’s.
love how they are trying to blame treinen yet he was left out there for 3 innings. how many other high leverage bullpen guys would even attempt that one? seriously stupid.
Hey Grey, who u like ros? Teoscar or Brantley? 5×5 h2h, it is a keeper as well
Madson and Strickland owner here. #shittacos
@Stephen Lyon: Let’s commiserate! I own Tanaka, and both Grays in the RCL (not to mention Holland and Ziegler). Was thinking of renaming my team “The Gray Souls.”
“the colour of my soul is iron-grey and sad
bats wheel about the steeple of my dreams.”
? Claude Debussy
@royce!: Ouch. At least Strickland vultured a win. Madson, though. He is all or nothing that fella.
@Stephen Lyon:
Hate F’n Closers.
I believe in Chris Taylor but that is a nasty Ticker Tease.
And lastly, probably not gonna happen, but how awesome would it be if Krush D could maintain the power and maybe hit .260?
