Chazz whiz, he looked good! Wait a second, did I just invent his new nickname? From Ground Chuck to Chazz Whiz: The Story of Charlie Morton as told to me by Statcast sliders. Yesterday, Charlie Morton went 7 IP, 2 ER, 3 baserunners (zero walks), 11 Ks, ERA at 4.84, and now we’re talking II. Related to but not Travolta and Alley, and no relation to Michael Harris II. Morton did look legitimately better than he’s looked recently. The lack of walks, and holding the Ks. The Morton issue was always mechanical, and that can get fixed at any point. He might’ve done it. It’s honestly impossible to know. As BDon and I have been saying on the podcast for the last few weeks, it was the curve that abandoned him. Not his velocity. The curve:
Charlie Morton, Disgusting Knuckle Curves. ?

Looks pretty back if it’s generating swings and misses like that one. Will be interesting to see how he builds on this. Philly won’t be an easy assignment for Chazz Whiz; they’ll wanna get their licks. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Dansby Swanson – 1-for-4 and his 10th homer. It took roughly six years to figure out Swanson should hit in the two-hole. Will he stay there? Have you been paying attention?
Mike Yastrzemski – 1-for-4 and his 7th homer. Carl’s Jr. Jr. with the takeout!
Carlos Rodon – 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 2.70. You know how little kids be timing their jump into a whirring fast jump rope? That’s how I feel with when to drop a Carlos Rodon sell.
Max Scherzer – Being considered for Sunday’s finale in Miami. From Missing In Action to MIA.
Carlos Carrasco – 2 1/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 4.42, and underwent an MRI on his back due to his “suckage.” This isn’t your slightly older cousin’s Carrasco. He’s a Streamonator call, and yesterday’s start was an awful matchup, and, if he’s hurt, then chuck Carrasco.
Alex Bregman – 2-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 8th homer, hitting .229. It’s an early Christmas miracle! *intern whispers in ear* Hanukkah miracle!
Yordan Alvarez – 2-for-4 and his 20th and 21st homer, hitting .315. Captain Woo Cubano might be a top three favorite player. I want to watch his dongs on repeat, in a strictly platonic way.
Kyle Schwarber – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 19th homer. Over/under 32 homers? I know, I know, I KNOW! You’re like, prorating that shizz out gets him near 40, whatchu talkin’ ’bout 32?! Gotta remember Schwarber is insane in June, okay in July, then disappears in August and September.
Zack Wheeler – 4 1/3 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 2.77. Would Cy Young, thrower of 749 complete games, recognize today’s game? Write your answer on a note card and toss it into a waste basket while yelling, “Kobe!”
Jon Gray – 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER. 5 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.18. To the tune of James Taylor’s Fire and Rain, “I’ve seen better…and I’ve seen worse…I’ve seen aces who couldn’t find the plate…”
Mike Clevinger – 4 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 3.52. Nice to see this middle reliever get a start. Crazy that Ross Stripling is now more of a starter than Clevinger. What a stinker! *holds nose while pointing to rotation spot on my NL-Only teams where Clevinger is*
Jurickson Profar – 4-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs. Profar is one of those guys who you think is just kinda meh, but he’s been great on the Player Rater. ACKUALLY, he’s been better than Bobby Witt Jr. and Randy Arozarena to name two randos you might think are ahead of him.
Madison Bumgarner – 4 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.75. What a bum!
Alek Thomas – 2-for-5, 2 runs and his 6th homer, hitting .275. He wasn’t getting mentioned on Razzball during his 12-game hitting streak, but he knew how to remedy that. He stops that streak, and gets a homer the next day. Smart, Alek!
Christian Walker – 2-for-4 and his 19th homer. This offseason, Walker attended Adam Dunn’s seminar, “Droppin’ Bombs On Your Moms.” Walker thought it would help his MILF game, but instead learned something else entirely.
Reid Detmers – Sent down to Triple-A for being very bad. The hope for him is he won’t be “very bad.” From no-hitter to no meal voucher for OK Corral Steak and Buffet, one man’s journey to Salt Lake.
Tarik Skubal – 4 2/3 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 3.63. Sigh. Red Sox were giving this game away, benching a bunch of their regulars. A home run to Refsnyder?! I mean, c’mon, Broseph.
Javier Baez – 2-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer, and his 2nd homer in as many games, and Baez is Baezck!
Michael Wacha – 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunner, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.34. I don’t know why you’re not picking him up. Could your shrink be right when she says you have a fear of success?
Diego Castillo – 1-for-4, 2 runs and his 5th homer. Whatevs, he was dropped by me when Oneil Cruz was promoted. Keep it moving!
Ian Happ – 1-for-2, 2 RBIs and his 8th homer. That makes me Happ’y. *does a Pharrell dance, hurts hip, sits down*
Patrick Wisdom – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 4 RBIs and his 14th homer, and 2nd homer in as many games. Seeing a guy you keep forever and a hot schmotato, and the Wisdom to know the difference.
Alfonso Rivas – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 5 RBIs and his 3rd homer. Fun fact! His full name is Arthur Alfonzie Rivas, and he was originally scouted by the Brewers. They were impressed with how, instead of hitting with a bat, when the ball was near the plate, he’d bang on the wall.
Garrett Cooper – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer. Got in his one homer a month just under the wire.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. – 2-for-3, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 14th homer. *paints hands blue* These are my Jazz hands.
Jorge Soler – 1-for-3 and his 13th homer. After one dinger, Soler aptly turns the heat up. Yo, aptronym is up in here!
Triston McKenzie – 4 1/3 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 3.51. Regression Fairies picked up McKenzie and flung him around like he was a pile of feathers in a pillow fight.
Amed Rosario – 4-for-5, 2 runs 2 RBIs and his 2nd homer, hitting .275. I said recently I confuse Rosario and Gimenez, and I might not be the only one. Why is Andres hitting sixth and Amed 2nd? Shouldn’t that be reversed, or is it really Fito Trancona?
Oscar Gonzalez – 2-for-5, 2 runs, 4 RBIs and his 2nd homer, hitting .333. Little OG Launch Angle action giving us some of that sweet power. More please.
Carlos Correa – 2-for-5 and his 6th and 7th homer. Only three behind Jordan Luplow’s home run total!
Max Kepler– 1-for-3, 2 runs and his 7th homer, hitting .244. He tends to hit homers in a cluster, but, when I say it’s hilarious he was hitting third yesterday, I mean: He had one homer since April 30th and was hitting .192 in June.
Gio Urshela – 3-for-4, 3 runs, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer, hitting .260. No, Ur shela!
Emilio Pagan – 1 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 4.13, and 5 ER in the last 2 IP, and the wheels have come off this Demogorgon. Not entirely sure who they’re going to call on next, but I’d look at Jhoan Duran, at least he’s decent.
Isaac Paredes – 1-for-4 and his 9th homer, and 4th homer in two games, and *phone rings* Hello? Mayor of Hot Schmotatoland? Ty Wigginton? Is this really you? No, I don’t have a direct link to Paredes, I’m merely a fantasy baseball ‘pert–Hello? Are you still there? I think he hung up.
Vidal Brujan – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 2nd homer. Would be nice to see literally anything from this doode. Had high-apple-pie-in-the-sky hopes going into last year. Now, I can barely remember why we loved him.
Shane Baz – 4 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.15. Baz would be better without Cash? Or: Would every Rays’ player?
Colin Poche – 2/3 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 2.35, as he pitched in the 7th. Rays don’t have a closer to put it to you bluntly, as Snoop would say.
Jose Trevino – 2-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer. Pretty sure this is the first homer I’ve gotten all year from my 2nd catcher. Please clap.
Aaron Judge – 2-for-5 and his 26th and 27th homer.
Roger Maris’s family seeing Aaron Judge launch homers pic.twitter.com/7KF43ygG6Z
— Razzball (@Razzball) June 23, 2022
Jordan Montgomery – 6 IP, 4 ER, 11 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 2.97. I get the sense a lot of people are just waiting for JoMo to be no mo’. He was never going to be a 2.50 ERA guy, but if he’s able to keep his walks around 1.5 BB/9, he’s going to be usable in all leagues.
Shohei Ohtani – 8 IP, 0 ER, 3 baserunners, 13 Ks, ERA at 2.90, 1-for-3. Baseball does such a terrible job of marketing itself: Shohei Ohtani has almost the same number of All-Star votes as Andres Gimenez. This isn’t a knock on Andres Gimenez, he’s absolutely fine, but if you can’t convince people Shohei Ohtani is a generational talent, your entire marketing department should be fired.
Jesse Winker – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer, 2nd homer in as many games. Winker needed a nudger, apparently, and now he’s hitting.
Paul Blackburn – 4 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 2.97. Before you complain about the Regression Fairies, think about them for a second and how they had to go to that stadium in Oakland to see a game. The A’s owner doesn’t even want to go there.
George Kirby – 6 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.12. George Kirby is featured in this week’s Buy, Sell, Hold video. It’s already on our Youtube channel (subscribe!) or you can wait until Friday for the video on the site.
Paul Goldschmidt – 1-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 17th homer, hitting .339. Au Shizz!
Nolan Arenado – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 14th homer, hitting .278. I have the original lyrics written on a Stone Pony napkin, it was going to be Born in the New Jersey. Here I’ll show you over by this open window–NOOOO!!! Torenado!
Eric Lauer – 6 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.89. Welp, he’s fully regressed to be a 15-team mixed league guy or deeper. There’s no hiding his early-season BABIP luck anymore.
Rowdy Tellez – 1-for-2 and his 11th homer, and his 1st homer in June. And you thought he retired and joined Alejandro Kirk and Daniel Vogelbach as a WWE tag team, the Killer Cholesterols.
Hanser Alberto – Out on paternity leave. Would be a baller move for him to name his kid, Alberto.
Freddie Freeman – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 7th homer, hitting .302. March Comatose Guy, “Hey, I’ve been out since March, and all I remember was drafting Olson and Freeman. Stacking those corners, baby! Am I right?! Give me all those dongers! Hey, why’s everyone tiptoeing out of the room?”
Albert Almora Jr. – 1-for-3, 2 runs and his 5th homer, and 2nd homer in two games, and 3rd homer in five games. Hot schmotato alert!
Tyler Anderson – 5 IP, 3 ER, 6 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 3.00 vs. Luis Castillo – 5 IP, 4 ER, 8 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.71. This matchup was billed as, “I’m biting my lip and starting both, but I’m not happy about it at all.” Could’ve turned out worse from each guy (and better).
George Springer – Undergoing tests on his elbow that’s bothered him for weeks. If this shocks you, I have an electrical outlet I can sell you for your finger poking.
Bo Bichette – 2-for-5, 4 RBIs and his 11th homer, a grand slam, and he just missed a 2nd homer. Don’t let him get hot! (Which is what I say when I’m begging him to get hot.)
Ross Stripling – 6 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.08. Don’t trust Stripling at all. Streamonator is sorta positive on his next one, but I think that’s a Castle Woofenstein.
Teoscar Hernandez – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 7th homer, and 2nd homer in the last four games. Not sure why he took April/May off. Maybe it was his oblique lingering, but June’s been more like it. Now three more months exactly the same.
Alejandro Kirk – 2-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 8th homer, and 2nd homer in as many games, and no matter how much I drink I can’t stop seeing Bart Harley Jarvis every time I see Kirk.
Lucas Giolito – 5 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 5.40. This is purely anecdotal, but he seems to fall behind in the count, then groove a pitch and get hammered like Mads Mikkelsen in Another Round. The numbers sorta back this up. Drilling down, his change and slider are a mess, and he can’t get people to offer at bad pitches (for them, good pitches for him). It all looks fixable, but fixing mechanics in-season is never easy. Almost optimism — I got almostism!
Danny Mendick – Left the game after getting hurt in a collision. No, he didn’t trip over himself. Shame on you.
Tyler Wells – 5 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.34. “This power is too strong for me, you take it.” That’s Bruce Zimmermann passing off the ability to be the one decent Orioles starter. Even Streamonator hates Wells, and I agree.
Anthony Santander – 2-for-4 and his 13th homer. Also, in this game, Trey Mancini (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) hit his 7th homer. Both of these guys shouldn’t be listed after, “Hey, Grey, handsome stuff on your shoulders, but should I drop any of these players…”
Austin Hays – 4-for-4, 3 runs, 3 RBIs and his 10th homer, as he hit for the cycle in only a 6-inning game. The last cycle in Baltimore was McNulty going from homicide to marine unit to patrolman to retired. Austin Hays is the first Hays to hit for the cycle since Isaac Hayes made love to four women of different ethnicities in the same night during the recording of the Hot Buttered Soul album.
Hi Grey! Good stuff as usual. Meyer looked sharp in first start in the minors yesterday. Would you drop Lauer or Cobb for him to prepare for the H2H playoffs? Solid advantage in the first place at the moment! Thanks
Thanks! Lauer
Thanks. Just to expand a bit on Meyer, you’re expecting him up soon? And what type of value could he return? Top 30?
Earlier I compared some players to Riley Greene, you said to hold so I assume you prefer Greene over those listed, how does he compare to these 2, Alek Thomas, and Jarren Duran? Who’s specifically better at what? I assume Greene has the most power, Duran has the most speed, but how does Thomas rank at speed or power, and is Greene close in speed?
Evening Grey,
Very good stuff as usual.
So I have been holding onto Lauer and Taillon (did not start him tonight, so that was one good move for me) in our Yahoo 10 Team H2H Points League, but it sounds like one or both of them are droppable? Let me know what you think.
And in general, I have been hesitant to drop SPs from this team as my staff has been ravaged a bit with both injuries and general suckiness (F. Peralta and Trevor Rogers to name 2), but I can probably stream guys better than this in a Deep (or is it shallow?) league like this.
And I also need a 3B, so I would assume Wisdom is worth adding (I know you have no idea who is available, but I am sure you can still suggest).
Thanks much Grey.
Ok Grey, a little more info on 3B available along with Wisdom:
“Mello Yellow” Donovan
I love a Paredes
E. Duran
Dozier
Yepez
Urias
Thanks again Grey.
Prolly try Paredes right now
It’s a shallow league, can prolly lose both…Lauer first
Cool. Thanks Grey for all info.
Have a good evening.
You too!
Would you rather have Jhoan, Seranthony or Poche in a saves only league?
Dominguez
Hi Grey!
Swanson or Olson in a keeper?
Thanks,
LG
Swanson
How would you rank Grichuk,Carlson,Laureano and CWalker ROS?
Do you still like Bethancourt in a 2 catcher 12 team league as catcher 2?
Thanks!
Carlson, Ramon…benthancourt seems ok, I don’t know your options
One more drop question – Farmer or Garcia?
Farmer
Would you trade joe Ryan for David Robertson and Kimbrel in a QS league?
Sure
Hey G,
Maybe a stupid question, but who would you rather have ROS between Berti or Whit Merrifield in a 10 team 5×5? I know Berti will regress, but Whit hasn’t exactly been destroying the ball lately.
Thanks!
-IANASM
Berti, figure out ROS down the line in a 10 teamer
Fair point. Thanks again!
No problem
Riley Greene or one of these guys: Franmil Reyes, Gavin Lux, Luis Urias, Randal Grichuk, Josh Naylor, Carlos Santana, Patrick Wisdom, Andrew McCutchen, Adam Duvall, Nolan Gorman, Hunter Dozier, Alek Thomas, Gerrit Cooper, Jesus Sanchez, Jack Suwinski, Jarren Duran, Isaac Paredes, Albert Amora Jr., or tanner Houck (current closers Emmanuel Clase, Bednar, Doval)
Hold
Hey Grey, drop Ketel Marte for Brandon Rodgers? 12-team redraft
Sure
I never had so many decisions due to multiple guys becoming active at same time (Bryant, Polanco, Wander, Musgrove today or tomorrow). Please help me reconcile my drops.
1)Lose 1 util. Luis Garcia or Luis Urias
2) Lose 1 util. Luke Voit or Ji-Man Choi
3) Lose 1 util. Luke Voit, Ji-Man Choi, or Luis Garcia
4) Lose 1 SP. Montgomery, Kirby, Taijon Walker,
1. Garcia 2. Choi 3. Garcia 4. Walker
12 team, 5×5 roto
I’m looking for a little SP help. What do you think about Drury for Bassitt and Jhoan? I would likely drop Poche. Here’s squad:
C- d’Arnaud
1B- Walsh
2B- India
3B- Drury
SS- Baez
OF- Acuna
OF- Stanton
OF- Franmil
BN – Franco, Kiriloff
IL – O’Neill
SP – Wheeler, Manaea, Gonsolin, Wright, Lauer, Strider
RP- Scott Barlow, Houck, Tanner Scott, Poche
With Franco due back this week and Baez seemingly turning it around I figured trading Drury might be my best move rn.
I’d take Bassitt, it’s fair
Carlson, Wisdom, India…on waivers…best 2?
Not Wisdom
What are you seeing with Carlson that you like? Over Gorman? Thanks.
Carlson is a top prospect that could hit 25/.270
Grey I’m back !
So the other owner countered with his JTR, J-Rod and Hader for Braves Contreras, Bichette, and Clase.
Worth it or do I just keep hustling on the saves street ? Feel like the trade is really just JTR and Jrod for Bo and Contreras
Don’t see the point of this trade, what are you trying to do?
Very low in average, steals, and runs so trying to shore up those. Feel Contreras is on borrowed time and JT will be give me the playing time. Other owner just added in Clase because he has no other closer
Sounds fine for you then
Awesome, thanks for the input as always, your help is invaluable !
Hope you’re enjoying the Yankees game it’s a barn burner
There is a Sosa playing in Chi Town again, but this time he’s on the South Side. I haven’t heard much on this AA darling, other than he was abusing AA pitchers. He’s the shiny new toy, seems like he might be worth a shot and dropping Kiner-Falafel. Thoughts?
He was in Itch’s top 75 https://razzball.com/prospect-rankings-update-new-top-75-for-june-2022/
Thanks Grey. Seems like Itch is torn on him. Loves the results, not thrilled with approach. I will give it a shot, as I doubt I regret the IKF drop.
May as well try it
Who are your top 2 the rest of the year among:
D Carlson
H Bader
C Walker
E Escobar
T Trammell
Do you agree that Dansby could be a top 30 guy in drafts next year?
THANKS!
Add Gorman to the list above. Thanks.
Yes on Swanson…Carlson, Walker
In a keeper league and want to trade for O. Cruz. Would Tyler Anderson for O. Cruz be a good trade? I also have Spencer Strider, Luis Garcia…
For you
Hello Master Hotter than the Weather in Central Coast Inland, Grey,
I thank you my FML, you do know that your mostly correct knowledge compared to a batting average is north of .500. The A’s should be looking to sign you:):):).
A) So, I try to read through all the comments because you usually answer my question there. You somewhat have answered it, on the very first comment which is now the very last comment.
B) Okay here it is: looking to add Morton over one of these, and you did already say Manaea but just maybe, Cortes, Ryan, Gallen or Gilbert?
C) TINC
D) Using Mushroom Morel at 2B, replacing Betts. Could Paredes or Gorman be better as Morel’s pace has slowed?
Have a great afternoon, I saw that it’s N. Hydration Day, make sure to get some of that water that was named after you, Boss water in a glass bottle:).
CCC
Aw thanks! B. Morton over Ryan D. Gorman’s been great…drinking water right now!
Grey,
Profar or Adolis ros?
Adolis
Hey Grey, saw your response to a commenter that you think Ketel Marte is toast. Safe to assume you’d prefer India over him?
Yes, I prefer India
Grey, how would you rank Alex Cobb, Luis Garcia, and Spencer Strider for ROS?
Garcia, Cobb
I have Michael Harris II, and Eddie Rosario is close to a rehab assignment. When he comes back, do we see a little less of Harris II or Contreras in order to get Rosario some playing time? Maybe more of a modified platoon-type situation with Duvall getting some days off here and there? Harris has great defense, and has shown great OBP skills in the 9th spot, but he is the youngest, and has options.
yeah, they’ll all be platooned…Contreras is going to truly get screwed, I think
I could see that also. Td’A isn’t exactly the poster child for health though. The DH really helps this though, and Contreras can catch.
Yeah, true
Hey Grey,
Someone in my league dropped Kenley Jansen,
He said he did it by mistake, and sent a note to everyone in the league asking us to not bid on him.
This is a league worth $, and my only closer is Raisel.
Am I ok to bid on him, or will the fantasy baseball gods look down on me if I do?
No, it was a mistake
Ok ! I’ll let him be. Odds are that someone else in the league will bid a lot, so many rats out here in the FB street.
Thanks
Doesn’t your league have a Commish? In most of the leagues in which I play, including RCLs, the Commish usually steps in and undoes the mistake. Or is your Commish like Mike Trout? In which case, whoever picks up Kenley is gonna get slapped …
Haha
Haha, gotcha
only contact the comish, he/she will/should fix it, but don’t wait and if you want can make a note in message board about it. waiting isn’t good. almost everybody’s done this at least once, it shouldn’t be any kind of issue for the other owners (and if it is, get out of that league).
Are you starting Framber Valdez today at NYY in a roto format? He has been doing well but I don’t like this start. Thanks
Don’t do it
Yes
oniel cruz will be back in the minors before i finish writing this sentence
That’s future Yankee HOFer, O’Neil Cruz thank you very much
Wait is he Irish? Pardon the ‘
huh? this joke makes no sense :/ how does he end up on the Yankees who already have a top SS prospect. you weirdo.
Having a top prospect at the same position hasn’t stopped the Yankees from poaching a star player before. Ask Aaron Hicks, among others …
Okay
Willie Calhoun being traded to SF is suddenly going to turn him in to an All-Star, right?
Of course!
a lot of that last year magic/soul selling/whatever it was SF stuff seems a good bit gone. in the best park (top 3 at least) desclafani/wood/cobb have so far regressed pretty heavily (a lot of these could also be sample noise, but at least even that is caused by injury regression on all of these 3), oldsters that were playing over their heads (longo, belt, crawford) aren’t healthy and/or not doing much. other goofy over producers also hurt (wade). laSTELLA is arguably the worst he’s ever been (probably the injuries have taken him to permanently useless). “super” prospect bart so horrible they sent him down. who’s happy about yaz’s performance? flores is about the same as what he’s been (just in better lineup slot than he normally was). mcgee’s finally getting old too. voodoo left the party sometime after 2021.
I hear you on Swanson. It seems like every year he starts the season 7 or 8, and by June he’s anywhere from two to 5 in the order. Also, every year I draft and hold him, as per your perspicacious recommendation. Many thanks!
Ha, No problem!
Hi Grey,
i have finalized realize that i need a second catcher especially one on the west coast. i currently have Will Smith of LA. when he is sat when playing on the west coast, then it is too late to activate another. the dodgers seem to wait to the last moment.
1. Do you like this logic? Jose Alraro of SD and Christian Bothencraft of Oakland are available Would you take either one of them. Thanks!!
Sure, Alfaro
I would disagree with rostering two catchers in a one catcher league. Smith plays almost every day anyways. You are just going to waste a bench spot and how do you know the second catcher will even be playing on Smith sitting days.
it becomes doable depending on how often the catcher plays. every year before this one w.smith got jerked around pretty badly for at bats (i’d bet money he got in the 53-62% of starts max); not this year, now he’s much higher %. i’ve had him in dynasties and i remember how often he didn’t play yet now i almost never even notice his off days as they’re less often seen. it’d still be better in many cases if you have the open roster slot to not hold the 2nd catcher but stream whoever is off, which will most often be the 1st catcher.
First time I’ve heard the “Carl’s Jr. Jr.” nickname for Mike Yaz. I love it….doesn’t exactly roll of the tongue but solid.
Ha, thanks!
Grey,
Thoughts on Chris Sale outcome? Thanks!
60 IP of a #2
Is 15/15 .240 reasonable for O Cruz ?
Or am I just wishcasting here ?
Sounds reasonable
I`m jammed full of questions today lol. T.Ward or J.Walsh?
12 man 5×5 h2h OPB.
Walsh
Great as alway Grey!
$1000 Daily H2H pts keeper league player cost goes up 20 per year until 100 then up 25 per year.
$80 Luis robert for $40 bob witt.
Or
$20 oneil cruz for $40 bob witt.
U taking either? Both? Which one you like better? Aiming long term here….. Thoughts are greatly appreciated!
I’d want Witt
I hear ya on the Ohtani blurb. The only fanfare he gets is from Fantasy sites. It’s radio silence from baseball sports news.
Yeah, exactly!
What’s your prognosis for Melancon? Does he keep getting saves albeit with not great numbers, or is he someone you’d look to sell if someone was buying?
Dbacks should trade him and he might not get saves in his new home — but he’s Dbacks closer now and will be unless hurt
Hello again Grey,
Who`s the drop if I acquire Tyler Anderson for a draft pick.
12 man h2h 5×5 QS
Kirilloff, Grisham, Lauer, Urquidy, Plesac, M.Keller, Noah S.
Thanks man!
Noah
oh okay! Not who I was expecting!
Thanks for your help man!
No problem
last question, who would be the next in line to drop?
out of who
The list of guys in my original question. Kirilloff, Grisham, Lauer, Urquidy, Plesac, M.Keller.
Thanks man! Sorry for all the questions!
Plesac, Urquidy and Keller are varying levels of bleh, in that order
Aranda or Lenyn Sosa in 12-tm AL-only? Need runs
Sosa
Thats it, I’m making the move. Ohtani is headed to my SP now. I love his HR, his R even more, and the threat of his SB is so nice too….. but my pitching needs him desperately and watching nights like the last waste away is heartbreaking.
I’d be replacing 1 my streamers, like A.Wood, Mahle, Pivetta, or Strider.
To take his spot in my lineup would be one of O.Cruz, Gorman, or T.Oneill (when healthy).
I’m not looking for you to talk me out of it… but damn, I can’t watch these 8 inning gems go by knowing I could have had that. Its like that girl in high school who was a super skinny, nerdy, pimpleface annoyance…. only to have her own Onlyfans at 30 raking in the dough ray F-me!
Haha
Wood
14 team 5×5. Been streaming catchers (start 1).
Trade away Chris Taylor for D’Arnaud?
TD enough to stop the stream?
Sure
Hey Grey!
Buddy from yesterday when I said I was trying to acquire Julio, didn
t bite on my offer of Albies and Eloy, Assuming because they are both injured.
Heres my roster again, do you have any other ideas of what I could offer?
12 man 5×5 h2h Keeper OBP
I can keep 3 bats, and 2 Pitchers, So if I get Julio, I would plan for him to be one of the bats.
Sanchez, Olson, E.Duran, J-Ram, Pena, Kirilloff, Grisham, Acuna, Renfroe, Voit, Story, T.Ward, Albies, Eloy.
Pitchers that are worth listing here as well as part of my roster that I could include in the trade:L.Garcia, Hader, Clase, Cease, Gonsolin.
Any Ideas would help!!
Thanks again my man.
Olson and Gonsolin?
Any thoughts on Ezequiel Duran in a H2H dynasty pts 12 teamer or just meh.
Not at all, I’ve had lots of thoughts on him https://razzball.com/ezequiel-duran-fantasy/
Aha! Thanks! How much you think he’s worth this year then $2 extra per year … $5?
Depends on league size
12 teamer 40 spots, have the likes of Edman, Profar, Morel, Yandy, Swanson, Flores, India as MI eligible
So you don’t need him
Oscar Gonzales or Morel
Morel
Grey! 12 team dynasty… traded Eloy yesterday and received Dansby, Adolis, Gallegos …. Needed a lil help everywhere .. Do ok ?
Seems lopsided for you
Hey Grey, 12 team, H2H. Who do have ROS:
1-Voit or Votto?
2-Ashby or Singer?
3-MJ or Narvaez?
3-Who’s the drop: Joe, Morel, Votto, Voit?
Thanks Man!
Voit
2. Singer 3. MJ 4. Votto
Happy Thursday Grey !
Trade question for ya.
Bichette, Houck and JoMo or Hader and J-Rod?
Have Oneill Cruz sitting on my bench
You really want to trade for a top closer, huh? I’d prefer Hader side, but barely and could go either way
ahaah that I do ! I just see Bichette and J-Rod very close and hate benching Cruz. I have a tough time seeing myself winning without saves and everyone seems to be uber protectionist with their closer types.
Might just have to keep hustling on the waiver wire its how I found Houck and Sir Anthony
Ha, yeah, indeed
Hi Grey
Luis Garcia or J Pena ros?
Thanks
Pena
So Grey, just need to ask again.
For rest of season in an OBP league:
Jeremy Pena or Josh Bell?
They’re very close, what do you need? Prolly lean Bell, but could go either way
I feel like I need more of a power bat as I have a decent amt of guys who can steal.
Anderson,Bader,Rosario
Then go for Bell
Thanks Grey!
No problem
In a 200 start/season (~ 6/week), should I start Shertzer? I assume not.
Who
Please pick 2: Santander at ChW, Voit vs Phi, Baez at Ari, or M.Harris II vs LAD. Thanks.
Santander, Baez
Hey Grey, shallow roto 5×5 keeper league (keep 10 guys), in a vacuum which do we like better as a keeper option (rest of 2022 season does not matter, am playing for the future)…Eloy or J Walsh? I assume its pretty close, no? Thanks Grey!
Walsh, it’s close
after holding for 3 MONTHS i dropped winker
then he goes back to back homer days
what a WANKER!
HAHA
did similar with kirk in 2 fairly deep leagues, his AVG was fine but no HR’s and little XBH at all (i’m OPS leagues) when i dropped. good news is i got baby contreras or melendez in place of him, so not huge loss.
H2H Dynasty pts weekly -AB, +Hits, +XBH, +BB, +HR, +SB, -CS
+IP, +Ks, -BB, -Hits, -HR
$1 Morel or $3 Sandoval .. current SP: Burnes, McLanahan, Ohtani, Lynn, Ray, Freddy P, Gonsolin, Mikolus, Cortes, Plesac, Kilian
Sandoval
What’s up Grey.
After 10wks in 14man H2H cat (10th)
I have pressed panic button and started off by selling super low Bo for L.Webb…Sigh…
Now might as well have fires sale Jaja.
Redraft but only 15 GB playoff spot
Hitting-MJ,Vaughn,India,LUrias,Edman,Profar,Kiriloff,
Renfroe,Hays,Cruz. Bench-Lance,RGreene
Franco,Polanco,Eloy IL
Pitching- Manoah,Lynn,Webb,Sandoval,Javier,Strider,
Brubaker,Holmes,JLopez
Should I focus on pitching??? and dangle Edman or Wander out there. Or trade for some power bats. Regardless lotta lessons learned for next season.
8×8
R,H,HR,RBI,SB,AVG,OPS,SLAM
W,L,CG,SV,K,ERA,WHIP,QS
Thanks
I’d alway sfocus on hitting, especially in H2H — your pitching looks fine for now
Hey Grey!
What do you think of this in a 14 teamer
I give: Teoscar, Ray, Gonsolin
I get: Olson, Bichette
Ray is my #1, also have Cortes, Sandoval, Waino, Cobb, Eovaldi – but this would be a hit. 1B is votto and 2b/3b/SS includes ILs such as Machado, Franco, Polanco, Tatis. Thoughts?
Works for me
Thanks Grey – Do you think that staff can hack it in h2h? Best things on the wire are D Hudson, Dunning, et al
Yes, I do, can just pick up guys if you need
For now, at least
Thanks! Yeah, I was #1 in pitching cats through June so I figured i had some leeway.
No problem
10 team 5×5 OBP
I think this is the order but please rank Pablo Lopez, Gallen, framber and Christian Javier
Framber, Gallen, Pablo
quick one, start Gore against Phillies today in San Diego? Man I hate pitching lately and my starters have been sucking across the board like Gioloto, Skubal, Tyler Anderson, etc, etc
Sounds fine
The All-Greys need to replace Polonco for a week
Choices ( all qualify at MI in our league)
Urshala
Paredes
Chavis
Harrison
Could I have your first and second choice
By the way..J-Rod a steal, 2 runs and an rbi. He’s top ten by year’s end.
Thanks as usual
Paredes, Urshela
Yup!
ok, here is likely an easy one for you
would you trade Nolan Gorman to get Francisco Lindor??
Yes
It never occurred to me until you mentioned it. Ohtani should be the face of Baseball. he should start as pitcher and hit leadoff in the all star game.
On to a lesser, though still nice player…
12 team AL only keeper: RBI R+SB-HR, OBP, SLG, W+QS, 2xS+H, ERA, WHIP
Teams are trying to wrest JulRod from me. Rejected lesser trades, but this one got me thinking.
Which option would you choose?
A) JulRod 2023 $14
B) JulRod 23, 24 $19
C) JulRod 23,24,25 $24
D) Kirilloff 23 $9, Eloy 23 $18, Sale 23 $8
E) Kirilloff 23 $9, Eloy 23 $18, Sale 23, 24 $13
F) Kirilloff 23 $9, Eloy 23 $18, Sale 23, 24, 25 $18
I am not looking to compete this year, but hope to be the king of the hill next 2 years. I am solid in hitting but weak in pitching with my keepers.
C
You da best.
No problem
Morning Grey with Acuna and Riley out of the lineup would you start wood against Atlanta or is that crazy?
I’d start Wood
Woof, Dead Wood
Swearenggen
Hey Grey! Excellent write up as always!
I am in a 10 team 5×5 roto redraft league:;
1) With Scherzer and Musgrove coming off the IL, who should I drop from: Kopech, Wood, Cobb, Springs , Kirby, Sandoval? (need to drop 2)
2) I am trying to acquire Bichette, do you think Kopech and oneil Cruz would be a fair offer? The manager really likes up and coming prospects?
thanks!
Wood, Springs 2. Try it
Yo Grey !
You starting Taillon anywhere today? Tucker and Alvarez with the short porch has me scared
Doesn’t seem great
Happy National Hydration Day! Be sure to keep them beers coming to ensure you’re properly hydrated at all times.
Need to drop someone to activate Musgrove. Who gets the boot?
12-team, 6×6 (OPS/QS), H2H, Redraft league
C: W. Smith
1B: J. Bell
2B: Ketel Marte
3B: Chapman
SS: Bichette
IF: C. Walker

A year since my last glass of water!
Rojas
Grey pisses tiger blood
Haha
Oh great Grey,
who are your top 3 two-starters for next week from this list? To be honest, I’m tempted to go with the two Yankees and one more. Thanks for your guidance.
Castillo @CHC; ATL
Garcia @NYM; LAA
Gray @Cle; BAL
Kirby BAL; OAK
Lopez @STL; @WAS
JoMo OAK; @Cle
Taillon OAK; @Cle
Wacha @Tor; @CHC
JoMo, Taillon, Kirby
Thanks Grey! That’s what I thought. Would you put Giolito (@LAA; @SF) ahead of any of them? He scares me to death right now.
Nah, wait to see a decent start from him
Would noah syndergaard be a buy low target of you? U like him?
No
Hi Grey! Going forward, do you like Luis Garcia or Ezequiel Duran?
Luis
Giolito on waivers, 12 team mixed. I could use my streaming slot. Add? I’d prob need to blow my faab which I’m fine with
Sure, add him
Good morning Grey the White! One advantage of gutting through watching my Royals is at least getting to see some spectacular performances by Ohtani. Two straight games of greatness. Albeit against the Royals, but erase the first two batters of the entire game and he’s flirting with a not hitter.
I have Detmers in a dynasty where I’m deep in pitching, but I don’t have room on my minors roster to move him down. I was offered Junis for him. I’d consider it if he was closer to returning, but I have to pass on this correct?
Thank you!
Morning! Sounds like a pass
Hey Grey…grade the trade:
I get: Jose Abreu, Brandon Crawford, Jordan Romano and Yohnny Hernandez
I give: Jorge Polanco, Eloy Jimenez, Eric Hosmer and Tyler Anderson
Yay or nay?
BTW, I am inclined to do this….just would like your blessing.
Works for me
Thanks, Grey.
No problem
Hi Grey,
really enjoy your column: it’s a must read
would you cut Brendon Rodgers to pick up the Yankees Marwin Gonzales?
i have to cut a player when Kris Bryant is off the IL list. would you cut Mike Clevinger or Paul Blackburn or look elsewhere?
Thanks!!!
martin
Thanks!
I wouldn’t pick up Marwin
Clevinger and Blackburn are prolly cuttable…That order
thanks so much!!
No problem
Morning Grey! Great stuff as usual. SP question, who do you prefer to have on your team out of MacKenzie, Kirby or Wacha? I was able to scoop up R Greene and O Cruz, so does that make Morel expendable? If so, who do you prefer out of Happ, Renfroe or Voit?
Wacha — I guess he’s expendable — Renfroe
Thanks! so Renfroe over Morel? Really appreciate all your content and help!
Yeah, No problem
Who do you like most out of this bunch Luis Garcia, Alek Thomas, Oscar Gonzalez, Dylan Carlson, Jarren Duran?
12 team H2H league with hitting cats as Runs, RBIs, HRs, SBs, OBP, SLG, and Ks
Carlson
Morning Grey! How would you rank ROS:
Strider, Josiah Gray, Alex Wood, Waino
Morning! You did
Need to drop one to clear a spot for starter streaming:
Nathanial Lowe
Adam Duvall
Rowdy Tellez
Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
Duvall
Oscar Gonzales needs to unlock his powe I need now than a 2 degree launch angle.
Thoughts on Isaac Parades? Did he unlock so seething? 9 homers in 100abs grabs my attention. Anything in his last 50 abs changed?
He’s a hot bat
