Yesterday, Kyle Harrison went 5 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 2.84, and pitched well enough as the Brewers laid it on thick, scoring 22 runzingas. But did you hear Kyle Harrison had five earned runs removed from his last start, due to a scoring error? That’s right, the scorer, who scores errors, was scored an error. Following still? Good, but I ain’t leading. The scorer Jimmyfan DuelDraftkingbets said in a prepared statement, “Oops, not sure what happened there. If Tommy DeVito or Billy Batts are listening, I want to sincerely apologize for the scoring change. I mean, I’m sorry to Rob Manfred. This is off the record, right?” Seems on the up and up! Getting rocked on the other side of the field was Bryce Miller, who went 4 2/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.71. Fingers crossed Jimmyfan DuelDraftkingbets was scoring this game, too. Miller has been rocked for almost a month now, and does not seem rosterable in most mixed leagues. Also, in this game, Jake Bauers (2-for-3, 3 runs, 2 RBIs) hit his 22nd homer. He’s having one of those seasons where we get to the end of the year and don’t realize how very good he was all year. Near-top five on the Player Rater for 1st basemen good. Next up, Luis Lara (3-for-6, 2 runs, 4 RBIs) hit his 1st homer, and he’s looking a tad unlucky under the hood, but unlucky this time of year is hard to count on. Then Christian Yelich went 2-for-5, 2 runs 4 RBIs with his 9th homer. He looks older this year than his mom. Wanna feel real sad? Look at Yelich’s stats: 9.5 BB%, 27.4 K%, .301 BABIP and a .228 average. BABIP really sticks out there in the worst way possible. You have to be making some of the worst contact to be hitting for that bad of an average with that BABIP. Finally, David Hamilton (3-for-5, 4 RBIs) had a slam (4) and double legs (23, 24). Hamilton was hoping I had seven to ten Lin-Manuel Miranda puns to make him the lede. Sorry, you wasted your shot. Hamilton, “But I am in the lede.” Meh, not really, Yelich’s name was bolded. Anyway. here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Ketel Marte – Returning to Arizona to undergo an MRI. On his head? Oh, they’re saying his knee. Okay. Wait, hold on, I have another “okay” for that. Okay, sure. Okay, sure, sure. Yeah, sure, okay, sure. Right.
Gabriel Moreno – 1-for-3, 4 RBIs and his 10th homer, and his 2nd homer in three games. Yo Gabby Gabby!
Mickey Gasper – 2-for-2, 2 RBIs and his 2nd homer, and 2nd homer in two games. Yo Gaspy Gaspy! Sorry, there’s nothing here though, except a hot schmotato, maybe.
Adley Rutschman – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and a home run. How many homers does he have? 17? 15? 12? No? C’mon, higher than that, right? I’m baiting you, you know I am. He has nine homers and is hitting .245.
Ranger Suarez – 5 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 6 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 3.41. This is the kind of start that I usually ignore in the roundups. He pitched remarkably bleh but got the win. Okay, so? Huh?! Sorry I yelled.
Griffin Conine – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 14th homer. After the game, Griffin told his dad, Jeff, “Mom says I’m actually Larry Walker’s kid.”
Zack Wheeler – 5 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners (4 BBs), 7 Ks, ERA at 2.92. Look at Wheeler looking meh vs. the Mehlins. Fitting! Wheeler’s actually been pretty meh for the last few (20 1/3 IP, 15 ER). Not great, Bob.
Tyler Soderstrom – Undergoing season-ending hip surgery. Sing-sobbing, “All my exes are hurt A’ses, that’s why I live in Tennessee…”
Carlos Rodon – 4 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 3.22 as he was activated from the IL. If he’s available, run-don’t walk to get Rodon! Was that good? I workshopped it for five hours.
Trent Grisham – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 17th homer, and 4th homer in the last week. That surprised me. Didn’t realize he’d been that hot. I’m usually up on who’s hot, who’s not, who’s five minutes ago like I’m Army Archerd (very hip, cool reference).
Coby Mayo – 1-for-3 and his 17th homer, 2nd homer in two games. Hot schmotato alert!
Shane Baz – 6 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 6 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 4.02. He’s pitching better than his last year on the Rays, but last year he was plagued by homers and in The Big Stein, which is only good for Oktoberfest, so I don’t know my point, but Baz is pitching like a backend starter, and looks like zero upside.
Jo Adell – 3-for-4, 6 RBIs and his 19th homer. Jo mama so good she made Jo Adell!
Foster Griffin – 6 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.18. I get the masculine urge to drop stuff, but Griffin was never the guy to drop.
Bryce Eldridge – 2-for-4 and his 14th homer, hitting .250. I talk nonsense about a lot of players, but I get the sense Eldridge’s family members read Razzball, because I’ll say weeks of nonsense, then say something negative on Eldridge and comments will come out, “What do you have against him?” I don’t have anything against him. He’s Spencer Torkelson with a slightly better average. It’s fine.
Oneil Cruz – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and a homer. He was out a while. Since June 6th. Over two months. How many homers does he have? He has 65 games played. Okay, it’s 15 homers. Were you close? That’s one homer every four games. That’s good.
Braxton Ashcraft – 8 IP, 1 ER, 5 hits, zero walks, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.68. Now back-to-back masterpieces. Think I’m even more impressed by Braxton because of how he struggled in July (7.78 ERA in 19 2/3 IP) because it shows he was able to regroup and fix the issue. That’s MLB shizz right there. I love him.
Brett Callahan – 2-for-3 and his 1st homer. New young buck! That’s young buck, not Buc. He was vs. the Bucs–Ya know what, let’s move on! Tigers have 45 outfielders on the IL, so they called up Callahan. The ol’ Called-a-han! He went 13/29/.269 this year in the minors, but a lot of that was Double-A, which is a little lightweight for a 24-year-old. He could surprise though, until people exploit his contact. Mostly an AL-Only guy for now.
Kevin Gausman – 4 1/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 4.58, and left with a hand cramp. I so wish he’d stop sucking, but my wish is not his command, apparently. I could see dropping him in most mixed leagues. The time has come.
Cal Quantrill – 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 hits, zero walks, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.13. As Mike (guest-hosting this week) said on the podcast, Quantrill was stream to grab because he was at home and pitching well.
George Klassen – 7 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 3 walks, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.74. Eat a D, Mike Maddux! Though, fo’ reals, Klassen has a 7.5 BB/9. Yes, I double-checked twice it was so insane.
Cam Smith – 1-for-3 and his 17th homer. Sincerely would love to see Smith break out in the final six weeks to have him to look forward to next year. So far, though, it’s very Shruggy the Emoji.
Pete Crow-Armstrong – 1-for-3 and his 31st homer. MVP! Ohtani stinks! MVP! (Yes, I am sorta doing a bit, but PCA has been great.)
Michael Busch – 1-for-3 and his 15th homer. Guessing someone felt bad for him and threw him a meatball.
Munetaka Murakami – 1-for-4 and his 29th homer, 3rd homer in the five games. To the Munetaka! (Yelling “Seiya ball!” and “To the Munetaka” until someone punches me.)
Zebby Matthews – 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 5.12. Every pitcher who has 5+ ERA has a countdown until I trust them, and Zebby’s around July 2028.
Josh Bell – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 17th homer. Welp, he’s about to hit another home run in the next three games.
AJ Smith-Shawver – Will start for the Braves on Wednesday. Hey, that’s today! His velo is up to 97, which has been great for strikeouts and likely terrible for his elbow in a year or two. ASS vs. Twins sounds like a podcast title on the Manopshere, but I’m fine with the stream, which almost ASSuredly will ruin him.
Tyler Mahle – 6 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 4.53. A) Mahle’s pitching better than his ERA. B)raves make good pitchers out of nothing. C) There’s no C.
Drake Baldwin – 2-for-4 and his 21st homer, as he hits leadoff, because the Braves are trying to get Acuña going for the last four months-ish.
Fernando Tatis Jr. – 2-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 14th and 15th homer, and robbed Francisco Lindor of a grand slam. I believe the kids call that aura farming. Fun The Jewels!
Manny Machado – 3-for-4 and his 24th homer. Macho, macho, Machado!
Robbie Ray – 6 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.20. TP Peckernbuttstuff has been pretty meh on the Padres (6 ERA, 1.89 WHIP before last night), but facing the Mets gets the worst of pitchers to xFIP a U-ey.
Luis Torrens – 2-for-3 and his 7th homer, 2nd homer in two games, third homer in a week, and was in last Friday’s Buy column. Frank Viola! (By the way, Torrens was pinch-hit for in the 9th inning last night. Yup, hottest hitter out of the lineup. Perfection.)
Luis Robert Jr. – 1-for-4 and his 7th homer, 2nd homer in a week. Yesterday, he hit third, and I just got an eye roll headache.
Nick Martinez – 3 2/3 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 3.05. Oh, shucks. Oh, that’s a real shame. Oh no, really? Damn, shame. Huh, yeah, real shame.
Kazuma Okamoto – 1-for-5 and his 25th homer, and became awful this August. Hideous type numbers. He’s quite possibly the most perplexing hitter of 2026, if only possibly supplanted by, like, four other Jays hitters. Jays managed to find the 1% possibilities in projections and ran with them.
Jose Soriano – 5 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 9 hits, zeor walks, 2 Ks, ERA at 3.23. Zero walks? Smiling, vibing, living my best life. Two Ks? Reporting the smiling idiot in the last sentence for being dumb.
Brett Bateman – 2-for-6, 1 run, 1 RBI and his 1st steal, hitting .283. He’s been largely absent from the roundups, because he doesn’t hit for power, but he’s been hitting leadoff and hitting for average. In the minors, he went 3/20/.311 in 293 ABs and should’ve been the Jays’ leadoff hitter since April. Way more equipped for that role than Methuselah Springer.
Alejandro Kirk – 3-for-6, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer, and 2nd homer in four games, as he hits third. Talk about being miscast. May as well as had him play Odysseus.
Andrew Abbott – 6 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.07. He’s like Al Pacino saying, “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in,” but about the Streamonator but the least convincing Pacino performance because I’m not being pulled back in. Abbott is basically Al Pacino in Jack and Jill.
Kyle Leahy – 5 IP, 0 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.24. Now, Leahy I can get in on. He’s sneaky fantastic — 8.2 K/9, 2.6 BB/9, 3.68 xIP. Okay, fantastic might be overselling, but that’s rosterable in almost all leagues.
Masyn Winn – 3-for-4, 2 runs and his 5th homer, hitting .241. His August might be the worst August I’ve seen, and I just looked at Okamoto’s.
Hunter Goodman – Hit the IL with a shoulder strain. Just when you thought the Rockies on the road (not now, but when they are) couldn’t be any easier of a matchup. Brett Sullivan has been hot, for what it’s Cronenworth.
Willi Castro – 2-for-3, 3 runs, 2 RBIs and a slam (14) and legs (9). A Willi dong and run for everyone who is with Castro (communism).
Shohei Ohtani – 1-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 30th homer, and third homer in two games. Goes into Coors and stat-pads! Stat-padder! Scott-padder! Scott-Stapp’er!
Edwin Diaz – Hit the IL with the same thing that Ketel Marte has, but worse! Edwin is headed for a Dodgers’ MRI,, which is made of plaster of Paris and when Edwin enters this MRI, the Dodgers hired the Blue Man Group to make thumping and knocking noises to mimic a real machine. Tanner Scott (1 1/3 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 2.32) would be the pickup, and got the save yesterday.
My opponent streamed Cal and Leahy. I actually told him to go fuck himself in the chat lol. I can’t catch a break man. This is every damn day. What a bizarre season. He did agree with my sentiment lol.
Hey hey hey Mr. Grey!
Kenley Jansen or Steven Cruz over Weaver for saves for the next few weeks?
Thanks!
