Who has the most homers in June? Is it Kyle Schwarber because he’s the King of June? Is it Yordan Alvarez because Captan Woo Cubano is in the running for most homers in any month? Is it Junior Caminero because he has 78 homers in the last week? Is it Pete Crow-Armstrong because he colored his hair to match a baseball and imagined knocking some sense into his own head? Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong! It’s actually…[sees it’s not Luis Garcia Jr.] Uh, okay, it’s Hunter Goodman with 12 homers. But 2nd is Luis Garcia Jr. (3-for-5, 3 runs, 5 RBIs and his 15th and 16th homer, hitting .280) with 11 homers in June! Like I’m walking into a toga party, “LuGaJu! LuGaJu! LuGaJu!” Goodman is only hitting .261 in June, and LuGaJu is hitting .284! Got ya ass! (Though, Goodman beats LuGaJu in runs, RBIs and steals.) LuGaJu does only have a 15 K% and has 20-steal speed. He was a sleeper of mine two years ago, and a long-time love. A cheap 20/20 guy with a solid batting average, who is always underrated because he gets a light platoon vs. lefties. So, his runs and RBIs suffer, but everything else is better than you think. Someone lifting my ankles so I can do a keg stand while people chant, “LuGaJu! LuGaJu! LuGaJu!” Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Foster Griffin – 7 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 2.93. The numbers back up the breakout. Okay, maybe not sub-3, but 3.50 ERA and 9 K/9? Yeah, that works in any league.
Kyle Bradish – 4 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 3.77. Feels like more so than any other pitcher he’s had multiple seasons in three months. This month alone has been a lot. Look at this month’s starts: 4 IP, 5 ER — 4 IP, 5 ER — 7 2/3 IP, 1 ER — 8 IP, 0 ER, then yesterday.
Pete Alonso – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 19th homer. Albombso!
Jackson Holliday – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer, hitting .204. Every time I see Jackson Holliday’s name I want the prospect writers, who oversold him, to pay me a nickel for raising his expectations. I’d have, like, thirty cents!
Christian Scott – 4 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.20, as he was activated from the IL. He was on the IL with “Mets were throttling his innings,” and now he’s back with, “They no longer are throttling his innings.”
Tommy Pham – Signed a minor league deal with the Phillies. Looking to see if I can bet on a prediction market that Pham and a Phillies fan will have an altercation before the end of the season.
Kyle Schwarber – 2-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and a slam (30) and legs (2). People were pushing back against my preseason ranking of Schwarber that I was too high. Could’ve been using that energy on literally anyone else in the top 12, besides Ohtani.
Gerrit Cole – 5 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 8 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.06. His stuff isn’t bad, per se, but he’s just not sharp with it. Getting way too much of the plate vs. teams he should be eating for breakfast like a nice congee. Five-plus innings and four earned is not congee. [shaking fist, screaming] Not congee!
Jake Bennett – 6 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 3.27. Wrote him off when he first came up because he looked like an iffy 7.5 K/9 guy at best, and he is a 7.5 K/9 guy at best, but it’s with an under 2 BB/9 so far, and there’s some slight value to that. Mostly Streamonator in mixed leagues.
Sonny Gray – 7 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 1 walk, 9 Ks, ERA at 2.69. Sonny Gray, in the mirror, “If you pitch really well, the Yankees might forget how awful you were for them, and trade for you. It’s your one shot. One opportunity. Man, I gotta stop watching 8 Mile.”
Romy Gonzalez – 0-for-4 as he was activated from the IL, as he hit 5th. Welp, Red Sox gave you a chance. Now, it’s over.
Kai-Wei Teng – 3 2/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 4.36, and optioned to the minors. Doctor said, “Ahh, that’s Teng suppression.”
Hunter Brown – 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 1.78. Start didn’t feel superlative but 10 whiffs, 86 mph average exit velocity and velo seemed fine.
Isaac Paredes – 3-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 11th homer, hitting .254. He’s defied every attempt by me to declare him hot. His game log looks like: HR — seven game stretch of meh — HR.
Christian Walker – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 19th homer, hitting .240. Onward Christian Walker!
Framber Valdez – 6 IP, 4 ER, 8 hits, zero walks, 2 Ks, ERA at 4.05. Would’ve never said this three months ago, but Framber appears to be a shallow mixed league streamer. His numbers are hideously yawnstipating.
Jack Flaherty – 5 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 4.97, as he was activated from the IL. Flaherty is the personification of the banana in the tailpipe.
Reid Detmers – 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 3.88. Angels fired their GM this past weekend. I think I know the answer, but do you think Arte Moreno woke on Friday and was like, “Wait a second, are you saying we suck? I thought you said Adam Frazier was the answer? Or was it Yoan Moncada? The Smeckler platoon? Wow, surprised to hear these things aren’t working. Guess I gotta fire you now.”
Josh Lowe – 1-for-2, 4 RBIs and his 6th homer, hitting .204. Has two homers in his last seven games. Unfortch, there was a month demotion to Triple-A between those seven games. A quibble, p to the erhaps!
Samy Natera Jr. – 1 1/3 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 0.96 and his 1st save. Ya know how you know he’s a made-up name? The Jr. It’s a dead giveaway. Had to gild the lily.
Logan Webb – 7 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 2 walks, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.09. Incredibly, Cristopher Sanchez left May looking like he could reach a record for consecutive scoreless innings, and Webb had almost as good of a June, ended with a 0.71 ERA in 38 IP. That’s 3 ER.
Robbie Ray – 8 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 3.39. Robbie Ray: Greg Maddux from the waist up, Ned Flanders on the ski slopes from the waist down.
Chris Sale – 6 IP, 1 ER, 9 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 2.10. You could’ve had him in any league.
Tyler Phillips – 7 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 6 hits, zero walks, 1 K, ERA at 3.02. I have him in one NL-Only league, so I thought I was pretty familiar with him, but I just opened his stats page and made a face like I just smelled rotten cottage cheese.
Wyatt Langford – Hit the IL with a hamstring strain. [takes out shocked crayon, colors a picture of myself]
Joc Pederson – 1-for-5 and his 13th homer. Not to be a hater my whole life, but Pederson has been more valuable than Wyatt Langford this year, and it’s not super close.
Kumar Rocker – 6 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.83. Went to search his stats, and briefly clicked on John Rocker, former Survivor contestant, and thought, “Him and Kumar prolly aren’t related.” Any hoo! Kumar’s stats are wildly meh. Wonder what happened to the guy who had supposedly huge upside. Can he request a trade to the Brewers?
Dylan Cease – 4 2/3 IP, 4 ER, 4 hits, 5 BBs, 10 Ks, ERA at 3.02. Think three hits is the points where if a pitcher has more walks than hits, daddy becomes scared like watching the movie, Obsession. What was that? I saw it three days ago and I’m still scared. Hold me, daddy!
Shane Bieber – 5 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 9 baserunners (4 BBs), 4 Ks, ERA at 5.00. This was not a good start. Four walks in five-plus innings is concerning for a guy with a career BB/9 under two.
Nathan Lukes – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 4th homer. On the Sunday recap, I try to cut out superfluous stuff (lol, yeah, like this), because there’s so much to recap, so I skip some hitters who are whatever, like Lukes. He only has four homers, so who cares about him? Then I realized, that’s how many homers Vlad Jr. has, and I plotzed. Dead. Bye-bye, cruel world.
Jesus Sanchez – Hit the IL with an ankle sprain. Uh-oh, he better hope he’s not Wally Pipp’d by Yohendrick Pinango, then people will say decades from now, “He better hope he’s not Yohendrick Pinango’d.” Also, called up was Sean Keys, the number one guy in baseball who sounds like he owns a car dealership. Sean Keys of Keys Auto on Van Nuys Blvd.? Keys, Keys, Keys on Van Nuys? I went over Keys, Keys, Keys on Van Nuys in Friday’s Buy column. Keys is a corner man though, so I have no idea why he was called up.
Hunter Goodman – 0-for-4, hitting .242, but at one point this weekend he had four homers in six at-bats. Goodman was the Cal Raleigh we made along the way.
Connor Prielipp – 6 IP, 2 ER, 6 hits, zero walks, 10 Ks, ERA at 4.96. As the Streamonator will tell you, vs. the Suckies on the road is an auto-start.
Kody Clemens – 1-for-4 and his 13th homer, and 2nd homer in three games. Can you bet on a prediction market Clemens is going to be traded before the trade deadline? I’d like some of that action.
Ryan Kreidler – 1-for-3 and his 5th homer, and he appeared in Friday’s Buy column, so that’s why he sounds familiar and it’s not because you have CTE.
Chase Burns – 6 IP, 5 ER, 9 hits, zero walks, 10 Ks, ERA at 2.36. Said last time he was due for regression and I gotta say I didn’t get a Pulitzer sent to my house for that, so guessing everyone could’ve told you a sub-2 ERA pitcher would be hit a little bit at some point. Unless Pulitzer got my address wrong. How embarrassing would that be? I won a Pulitzer, but didn’t know it because it was lost in the mail. Actually, that sounds likely.
Chase Petty – 1 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 3.72, as he got the save on Saturday. Caleb Ferguson got the save on Friday. And tomorrow, Sam Moll! No, prolly not Sam Moll, but there’s no closer in Cincy until Emilio Pagan returns. It is not Pierce Johnson, I’ll tell ya that much. He’s a kick in the pants.
Jared Jones – 4 2/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 5.76. So, what you’re saying is Jared Jones is not good this year? Interesting, noted.
Ryan O’Hearn – 3-for-5, 3 runs, 4 RBIs and his 12th and 13th homer, hitting .286. Shockingly low on the Player Rater for 1st basemen. Around top 20; thought he would’ve been way higher; he was below TJ Rumfield when I looked.
Esmerlyn Valdez – 3-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer, and his 3rd homer in three games. The hottest schmotato in the land? The title is his, for now.
Manny Machado – 2-for-4 and his 15th homer, hitting .188. I’m flabbergasted his average is still that low. I’m gasted of flabber.
Michael King – 4 1/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.55. The nice thing is he’s not pitching deceptively well and getting hit. He’s pitching pretty poorly and being hit. Okay, “nice” is subjective there.
Emmet Sheehan – 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 5.08. Yeah, do it for another month straight and I’ll be interested.
Junior Caminero – 3-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 22nd homer, hitting .292. Juco Loco has six homers in four games; seven homers in the last week and nine homers in June. Too bad he doesn’t have any speed because, prior to yesterday (and maybe still), Juco was behind Miguel Vargas for fantasy value.
Cedric Mullins – 1-for-4 and his 8th homer, 2nd homer in three games. Cedric the HRtainer with the hot schmotato alert!
Yandy Diaz – Left the game with a shoulder strain, i.e., Yandy not dandy.
Drew Rasmussen – 6 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.45. Ya know what I’m thinking. Same thing I’m always thinking with Rasmussen. How he has a sub-3 ERA in over 550 career innings. Top five most underrated starter.
Ketel Marte – 1-for-3 and his 15th homer, and his 2nd homer in two games, and third homer in four games. Ahhh, getting drunk on Ketel’s power.
David Peterson – 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 hits, zero walks, 2 Ks, ERA at 5.86 in his first start on the Cubs. Ya know how people recount the worst trades of all time and they’re like, “Nolan Ryan was traded away by the Mets and went on to have one of the greatest career of all-time. Boy, that was dumb by the Mets.” Ya know what I never hear? What if the Mets never traded away Nolan Ryan? Then he might not have been good.
Brandon Woodruff – 5 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 3 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 2.59. Gathering 50 strangers together and putting them in a formation for a prayer quadrilateral to preemptively pray Woodruff stays healthy.
Davis Martin – 5 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 3.00 vs. Michael Wacha – 7 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.31. This matchup was billed as, “Davis Martin-Michael Wacha is how many guys? One? Two? Three? Four?”
Miguel Vargas – 2-for-2, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 19th homer, hitting .252. See Juco Loco’s blurb for more. Look at you with some homework to do! You have the laborious task of moving your eyes.
Chase DeLauter – 2-for-5, 2 RBIs as he was activated from the IL, hitting out of the three-hole. Hey, it’s Mr. March. Hey, Mr. March, say hello to your mother for me.
Slade Cecconi – 6 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.18. Cecconi is Italian for Streamonator. Or maybe it’s salami. It’s one of those.
Gavin Williams – 5 IP, 2 ER, 9 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.81. Not sure why his walks ballooned last year, but they’re back in line with career norms, and he’s pitching better than it seems. Buy!
Logan Gilbert – 7 IP, 4 ER, 7 hits, zero walks, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.42. Him and Emerson Hancock (5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.47) piggybacked this weekend much like me and you piggybacked. In that, we did not piggyback. Mariners are dumb, I’m done talking about their piggybacking shituation that was 100% done for one reason: Luis Castillo complained about being removed after four innings, so they were like, “Yeah, man, everyone in the rotation is doing the same as you. It’s called piggybacking. It’s awesome. Y’all good with it too, right?” Dan Wilson looked at all the other starters and they all nodded, unsure what they were nodding about, and Luis Castillo was like, “Okay, cool.”
is Austin Riley just a waiver wire fodder dump at this point, or hold for a heroic 2nd half resurgence? Can’t trade him. I plugged in Okamoto..
tx
Hi Grey,
I have Casey Schmitt and Zack Gelof who are DTD and IL10, respectively.
1. Do you think that I should be patient?
2. Do think that I should cut Roupp whose
next two starts are at AZ and home vs Toronto to upgrade my infield positions?
3. How much conference do you have picking up Jack Bennett whose next two starts are at LAA at CWS?
Thanks’
2 cut him 3. Not much
Thank you!!
Lukes or Kreidler ?
Ryan
Hi Grey,
of the follow starts, which four would you pick:
1. Weathers vs Det at home
2. Weathers vs Minn at house
3. Tolle vs Wash at home
4. Trevor vs CWS at home
5. Imai vs Minnesota at home
6. Sproat vs Cinn at home
Thanks!!
saw below that Trevor Rogers is now at Cinn. Thank you!
Not 4 and 6
Thank you so much!!!
Would you start McLean tomorrow in Toronto against the AL All Stars?
Nope
Thanks!
1. These are not good options, I’d hold Yelich, or trade him for a 3B if these are your options in 2… Chapman
Grey! How would you rank Wrobleski, Melton, and Imai?
Thanks!
Melton, Imai
Cole at home vs Twins, or Sproat home v Reds. Thanks
Gerrit Cole? Him
Yea, he just looked very hittable last week is why i even ask.
Gotcha
Who are you stashing condon or kade anderson? Pick one. I know seattle has a few too many SP’s but it is hard to ignore anderson. I could use pitching and hitting. Its been that kind of year. Obp and qs league. Thanks
Kade
Master would you start our boy Lodolo at brewers
Nah
in a dynasty league would you trade trea or riley greene for wyatt langford? (full rebuild year for my team)
Trea is fair
@Grey: weekly roto redraft. jordan walker for tatis? still staying away from tatis?
Why would you want Tatis? I wouldn’t
Matthew Boyd or Imai ROS?
Boyd
Pick 2 from this Yuck list plz:
Rodon v Twins
Bradish @ Cincy
TRog v W Sox
Flaherty @Tex
Rodon, Rogers
Rogers got pushed to @Cin
Yuck
I guess Flaherty
Who is a sell/sell high in an NL-only? OBP
Freeman, B Lowe, Lindor, Bregman, Chourio, Merrill, J Walker, J McCarthy, Caissie, Mead, Steer, Wetherholt
Need to shop someone around for pitching help.
Bregman, Merrill, Lowe
Grey, is there any point in holding on to Daylen Lile in a Razzball league, hoping he improves?
Nah, you can move on
3 adds left this week. My hitting roster as of tomorrow in a 12-team h2h is: C – Hicks, 1B – Vlad, 2B – L.Garcia, 3B – Durbin; SS – Abrams, OF – Yordan, Bellinger, McCarthy, Util – Eldridge (with Antonacci and Nimmo on bench or subs for matchups)
**Which of the following hitters would be your add from among: Bolte, DeLauter, Paredes, Rumfield? **
I’m leaning Delauter for upside, as I don’t like Bolte or Rumfield’s peripherals (though Rumfield does get this week at Coors). But the improving Paredes could also reinforce me at 3B, so I could drop Eldridge (but those peripherals…)
Rumfield in Coors or Bolte at home…DeLauter hasn’t done anything in two months
would you start Singer at home vs Balt
thx
Nope
@Grey: have you heard anything about hunter greene coming back this week? ive heard rumors, but havent seen anything official. in a weekly roto, which one would you sit?
greene (not officially off the IL yet) – tentative vs bal
bradish – @ cin
lodolo – @ mil, vs bal
thanks!
First I heard of Greene was Oaktown commenting below — I’d start Greene of those options
Thanks. Who would you sit between Bradish and Lodolo?
Lodolo
Hunter Greene debut on tap this week. Like Pliny the Elder on tap but with baseball i.e. wonderful.
Kid and I both agree that we will be really excited and still expect an Obering.
Oh, for sure, I’d bet he’s going to be great for 75 IP…his issue is staying on field more than not being good when pitching
@Grey: weekly roto, need to start one of the following at 1b. who do you like?
goldy – 3 vs det, 3 vs min
lugaju – 3 @ bos (all lefties), 3 vs pit
naylor – 3 vs laa, 3 vs tor
thanks!
Goldy
I hope your weekend was good!
Trying to sort out my weekly SP & I looked at the robot but wanted your take on these guys: Cameron v TB; Harrison @ Ari; Boyd v SD; Flaherty @ Tex; Meyer @ Col; & two start SPs E Perez @Col & @ Ath & Zebby @Hou & @NYY.
The bot liked Eury but I have my doubts so asking you. I need the top 3 SPs of that group
Harrison, Boyd, Cameron
Thanks! I’ve noticed the robot does not seem to endorse Harrison (who IMHO is a borderline ace) & Cameron in most starts. Any insight into why that might be?
Lack of track record
Harrison could have a blow up game @ Az, just one of those days. I like Cameron to cruise though.
Anything could happen
Hey Grey, shallow roto keeper league. I’m looking for an upgrade on offense. Complicated contract system, and as a result trade partners are limited. In a vacuum, are either Lindor or Devers buys? Or is a Lindor just a headache and is devers just cooked?
Like with anything, it depends on the price…I wouldn’t necessarily want to invest heavily in either, and don’t think much of Devers
Certifiable if I sit both Gunnar and Elly ( sore ankle besides Terry cut his ballz off and doesn’t let him steal anymore). Slide the burgeoning Otto Lopez to SS and replace at 2B with either Mead or Steer? I’m doing it anyway so who do I use Steer or Mead?
Mead
Has he finally shed the “hot schmato” label and is officially a “breakout” in your view?
I think so
Oddly, he was dropped in one of my 15 team leagues and I’m not sure why, I will be bidding on him tho
He faces 3 albeit tough LHP @ Fenway. I just am concerned that he gets PH for in the 5th.
In the past 6 weeks since he got a starting job, Mead has 18R, 10HR, 24RBI. He’s saving my a$$ (sort of) on my main event team where I drafted the “reliable” Vinny Pastaquino.
12 team, 5×5 roto
(1) You starting Mize @NYY today? ($4.6)
(2) Bryan Woo was dropped. Even though he’s been poor recently, would you look to grab him? I’d be losing a bench bat or my streaming SP spot.
1. Debating it still, but I am leaning to yes 2. I guess
Seeing conflicting reports about whether Nolan McLean is a 2-start pitcher this week. Not sure what to trust. CBS has him only once against TOR, a bunch of other sites (including this very one) says he’s a 2-starter. Anyone suggest what to trust? For now I’ll go with the fact that a bunch of sites are saying he’s up for 2.
We have him for one start, not sure
Looks like it comes down to who the Mets start on Saturday
Please rank these catchers for possible waiver pickup:
Heim (Tx); Rushing; Mack; Stephenson
Rushing, Mack
Points league catcher ROS: Basallo, Moreno, or F. Alvarez?
Thanks and have a great Monday!
Basallo, you too!
Last one for you Grey. Canzone is likely to return today, and he has 6 games this week (LAA, TOR), all projected to be against righties. Would you start him this week over any of:
Jac Cags (5, TB, PHI) – scuffling, and is questionable for tomorrow)
Bauers (7, CIN, @ARI) – healthy, but is regressing a bit, but 7 games this week
Soderstrom (6, LAD, MIA) – not sure if he’ll need the IL after sitting yesterday (hip)
Lile (6, PIT, @BOS)
Happ (6, SD, STL)
Over Lile
Happy Monday, Grey!
So happy picking up LaGuJu for the back half of last week!
Not so happy shooting myself in the foot to lose my matchup by starting Kay instead of Cecconi, blergh.
A. Which two should I SIT from the following:
Braxton @PHI
Braxton @WSH
Ray @COL
Jump vs LAD
Jump vs MIA
B. I could also pick up Trevor Rogers @CIN, Lodolo vs BAL, Buehler @CHC. Do you like any of these over the guys who would start after question A?
Damn — Ray, Braxton in Philly B. no
Matt Boyd has to be activated from my IL in a QS league, and I have to clear room.
I could drop a pitcher — Grant Taylor if he’s not the closer, or Bradish, Weathers, Roupp, or Sheehan. Or I could drop one of Willy Adames, Royce Lewis, Jeremy Pena, and Austin Riley and rely on the other 3 at my 3B/SS/IF slots (none are particularly inspiring).
Or I could just drop Boyd because he doesn’t fit!
Any thoughts?
Roupp or Riley
Would you EVER start an ATH pitcher in Bing Bong, or are they all strictly away streamers at this point?
Thinking Ginn & Jump
Road Scholars
ESPN points, this week only…
Christian Scott @ Atl
Connelly Early vs Wash
Which one? Close?
Early
samad or nasim nunez ros?
Nunez
thanks also chase delauter or bleday ros ?
JJ
Hey Grey, trying to decide whether N.Marte is worth hanging onto. There are some other guys out there that seem to be doing a better job of baseballing
K.Clemens
N.Gonzales
AJ Ewing
C.Mead
Also which one do you like most at C. Lost Jeffers and haven’t been able to find a replacement
F.Alvarez
D.Rushing
T.Stephenson
V.Caratini
Kody over Marte
Fran-Al
Is Jarren Duran ok to drop or do you anticipate a rebound? My other OF are Chourio, Carroll, Benge, Stowers, Ewing, Bolte, Clemens, Carrigg, and Ramos.
You can lose him
Good morning
Would you start Nick Martinez in Houston?
No
What’s up Grey? I was able to pick up Blaze Alexander (6, CHW, @CIN), and he’s got so much eligibility that I’m not sure who to bench so I can put him in. Here are some options:
Keaschall (6, @HOU, @NYY)
Meidroth (7, @BAL, @CLE)
N. Marte (7, BAL, @MIL)
Swanson (6, SD, STL)
Mead (6, PIT, @BOS)
Bauers (7, CIN, @ARI)
Noelvi, Chase, Luke…they’ve all been terrible
Thoughts on starting Nola vs pitt or burke vs balt tonight? Both on waivers
Nola seems like a stream
Morning Grey!
I pulled the worst Holy Sit of the year, benching Dansby for the FIRST TIME ALL YEAR with Lindor back. WOOF!
So do I go back in with Dansby (6, SD, STL) over either Lindor (6, @TOR, @STL) or Volpe (6, DET, MIN)?
Volpe — you know it’s going to burn you whichever you decide
Morning Grey!
Which two start this week?
Sheehan (SD)
Cantillo (TEX)
N. McLean (@TOR)
Thanks!
Not McLean
Short-term, would you drop Jones (@PHI, ATL) for Gore (@CLE, LAA), Sasaki (SD, COL), Imai (MIN, WAS), Buehler (@CHC, AZ)?
Could you rank RoS?
Yes, Roki
Gore, Roki, Imai
Thanks–Happy Monday!
You too!
Which prospect to stash for keeper?
Max Clark
Walker Jenkins
Waldschmidt
Tibbs
Lombard Jr
Lara
Tibbs
Which player to pickup for this week? h2h cat
Royce Lewis
Willi Castro
Jake McCarthy
Dylan Crews
Jake Burger
I don’t know their matchups, I guess Burger
Good morning Grey
11 team Roto
Need more offence HR’s, RBI’s and Runs
How would you rank
Durbin
Pederson
AJ Ewing
Pederson, Ewing
Esmerlyn Valdez – 3-for-4 love this but worry about the priates being the pirates. They should play him everyday but will most likely platoon I feel.
I found this has ultimately hurt the tigers in the long run. Kerry Carpenter and Colt Keith against L/R’s. All it does is hurt development I feel. Even though Kerry is older, they did him no favors.
Any worry on your end that the Pirates may do the same with the Password and the Magician ultimately hurting development and of course fantasy?
Yes, they’re platooning them
Slim pickings on the Dodgers at Bing Bong series coming up. Would you stream any of these:
Alex Call
Alex Freeland
Miguel Rojas
Ryan Ward
Dalton Rushing
Lawrence Butler
JEff McNeil
Jonah Heim (my C is Herrera)
Max Muncy (ATH)
Alika/Meneses/ColbyThomas/CarlosCortes
Or… I can grab Heriberto for the BingBong/Coors combo. Hittertron loves him this week
Butler, Rushing, Muncy
Caleb Durbin over Austin Riley, ROS?
fun question
I sat Riley last week for Caballero and it worked great. Keeping him benched and sitting Vlad Jr for Rumsfeld this week.
Hope they get lots of splinters.
Yes
So, as the proud owner of Trout/Cruz/Langford I am on the marker for outfielders! Who do you like: Merrill (surprised he got dropped), Jung Ho, Ewing or Bolte?
Jung Ho
Good morning would you start Melton in New York against the the yanks
Nah
Grisham likely off IL later this week. 8-Keeper league. Who’s the drop?
Bauers (done nil past month); Busch; Lile; or Colt Emerson (min $ -> possible keeper)?
Bauers has 6 HRs in his last 30 days, https://razzball.com/mlbhittingstats-last30days/ beating the other people you’re listing by a far amount
Thx; misread Bauers line.
Who’s my cut between Busch and Lile?
I’d lose Lile
Dynasty league $340 budget QS, K/9
A. Braxton Ashcraft ’26 $3, ’27 $4 (after ’27 will need to be extended 3 years starting at $14 with $3 increase/ yr)
B. Chris Sale ’26 $8, ’27 $13, ’28 $17, ’29 $21
It’s fair, depends when Sale breaks down from age which no one knows…I guess Sale
Delauter is coming back from dl, do i drop him or TWard or JNaylor, thank you
DeLauter?
I also could drop Raley or Canzone, but its a daily league so I tend to start them against righties, while Ward DeLauter and Naylor sit on my big bench… do you still lean DeLauter?
Lose Raley
Which side do you prefer in a H2H league that counts ten separate hitting cats…singles, doubles, triples, homers, runs, rbi, walks, ks, SB, Ave?
McGonigal and Nimmo or
Trea and Bleday? Close?
McGonigle, it’s close
Hate to lose Trea’s steals especially if he gets going. But so many Ks and so few walks. Pitchers go right at him. McGonigle’s eye and patience is so impressive. I think I would prefer the youngster given this format.
Nimmo vs Bleday seems close too but Nimmo safer you think?
Thank you
No problem
Goldy or Luis Garcia ROS?
Goldy
Drop Soto for either Jansen or Webb or Hold?
Chances Dennis Santana replaces Soto as the Buccos closer?
No
Riley Greene 6 games on the road at Yanks and Texas or Carrig 7 games at home. Also Castro same deal for the Rox or Seager 3 @ Cle @ Det. If his name wasn’t Corey Seager I’d have cut him 6 weeks ago. No idea what happened to him, but he’s in a group chat on my team with Tucker, Greene, Devers and Tatis. Tatis actually scratches together points lately but no power at all.
Riley — Seager
Please rank Bohm, Clement, Chapman for the rest of the season
Thanks!
Chapman, Bohm
Would you drop Kenley Jansen for
Gomez
Soto
Soto
5×5, QS league. I need help all pitching but S.
Trading Tanner Scott before Edwin gets back.
Options in return- Lugo, Merrill Kelly, Martin Perez. Thoughts?
Or try for Glasnow and stream until he’s back?
These are all meh…I guess Perez
I get that but forgot to say it’s a 14 team league so waivers are guys even more meh. And Scott’s value will drop once edwin’s back so i’m trying to get what i can now
I’m just guessing without league context
ESPN Points, next week only, deep league, bottom of rotation, please rank top 4
Michael King @LAD
Connelly Early vs Wash
Manaea @ Tor, @ Atl (2 starts)
Baz vs Balt
Christian Scott @ Atl
Mahle @ Az , @ Colo (2 starts)
Thanks!
None are great…Early, Baz, Scott, Manaea
When Ethan Holliday was drafted last year, I read people saying he was going to be better than Jackson. I thought “If that’s true, he could be a superstar!” Now I’m thinking “He could hit .220 and that’d be true”
Also, today I learned what congee is and I need to try it soon. Razzball is so educational! Thanks!
Haha, you’re welcome!

I must admit, when I saw I had 21 saves beside Baker, I thought I had messed up a sort.
Who is Jake Latz? I don’t even know what team he’s on.
Imagining a billboard for SAGNOF with a picture of Jake on it only it’s a black shadow clip art image of a face, and the slogan says “Latz Go!!!”
latz is my favorite flavor of closer. never walks guys, doesn’t give up homers, gets groundballs, mixes pitches. the a’s had some success with guys like that. andrew bailey come right attchas
Latz F Go!
Haha, yeah, Baker and Varland have been great…So many NDs
3.06 era, .96 whip, .156 baa, 12.7 k/9, clean save this weekend. guess who?
Mason Barnett?
Kirby Yates!
Damn, 2nd guess
surprising numbers, no?
Yeah, I have him in an AL-Only and haven’t started him yet, but saw that this weekend and thought maybe I should start him…as you know, it’s hard in a weekly where you might only get one 1 save
16 team h2h league.
Min @HOU today. I’ve got Zebby and Lambert..bench both?
Lambert seems fine
Memo to the NYY …. You don’t have to wait until the Trade deadline to add a legit hitter or two … What’s up with this ?
BA..
Wells .157
Schliemann .200
Martian .214
Jones .215
Yeah the Yanks should forget Skubal and upgrade a couple lineup spots. George is rolling in his grave!
Haha
Haha, it’s true
Would you drop Framber or Lodolo for any of Christian Scott, Melton or Buehler ? Or pretty much all streamers in 12 team mixed?
Yes, both for Melton and Scott
16 team H2H dynasty, OPS, K/9, $340 budget
A: Colt Emerson ($4), Travis Sykora ($3) 1st pick
B: Bellinger ($24), Sale ($8)
Sale’s future salary
Chris Sale ’26 $8, ’27 $13, ’28 $17, ’29 $21
I worry that Sale could breakdown and that would be it
Yes, that’s the concern…so you have to keep him if he breaks down? You can’t cut him?
Yea I would have to keep him and eat the money.
Oh, then I don’t want him
B
Thanks! In general are you high on Colt longer term. I know he is 20 but feels kind meh
Yes, I like Colt E.
Thank you sir!
No problem
Bradish @ Cin
Ray @ Col
Hancock v Tor
Lodolo v Bal
Scott @ ATL
1. Please Rank
2. For each, Start or sit in 11- team 5×5 league?
TY
Hancock v Tor
Lodolo v Bal
Bradish
Scott
I wouldn’t start Ray, Bradish, Lodolo, or Scott if I didn’t have to
Picked up LuGar a couple weeks back with Keaschall scuffling. What to do with Luke now? 16-ops keeper. Cut or bench?
Drop him?
If Eugenio goes on the IL, I’ll owe Mitch Keller one.
This^
Yeah
I’m assuming he’s gone for a while. Yesterday’s xrays were inconclusive because wrist was so swollen that they couldn’t take them. This does not sound like a 3,4 DTD situation.
Hey, thanks as always for the excellent content. Who do you prefer RoS in a yahoo standard? Ketel Marte or Luis Garcia? Is it close with how good Garcia has been?
Ketel
Webb had the only start on the weekend to make the 100 best Fantasy Starts list. It is his second June entry and the third overall for the Giants:
42 Trevor McDonald May 4 vs SD
62 Logan Webb Jun 27 vs ATL
65 Logan Webb Jun 3 @MIL
Sonny would have been top 20 if Aroldis hadn’t blown it.
Typo. I assume you meant Abreu.
Thanks, Vin!
Been a while since I complained about Gunnar. Where are the steals? He stole 30 last year. He has 2 sb in his last 58 games. 1 in his last 39 games. That’ 38 straight games w/o one. I wasn’t expecting 30 again, but 20 would be nice. His obp is .291. That’s also a huge anchor dragging me down in an obp league.
If you had told me at the start of the season that at near the midway point I’d be choosing between Gunnar (drafted) and Naylor (acquired via trade) for my Util spot, I’d have passed out from the excitment. Doesn’t quite feel that way now.
Gunnar annoys me more, for reasons I can’t quite explain. Might be a proclivity for swinging at something three feet off the plate for strike three – with the bases loaded.
Time to man up and accept and acknowledge that the Gunnar of 2023/2024 is no longer. Gunnar’s 2025/2026 is more likely the *new and improved* version. The so called industry has Finally surrendered and admitted that Vladdy is burnt toast. It’s just taking them awhile longer to get there with Gunnar.
Runners are getting thrown out way more often this year. Catchers finally figured out to throw the ball into the runner not to the base. I think they’re scared to get CS now. other than a few guys.
Yeah
Drake Baldwin…I liked him better when he had a healthy oblique. He is 1 for his last 42. 19k, 1 bb. 44%+ k%. He played one rehab game. Just a thought, maybe he should have had a few more rehab games.
Baldwin homered in his first AB back from the IL. Hasn’t gotten on base since ( two weeks).
Yep. My numbers exclude his first at bat.
Great stuff as always Grey! Please rank Taj Bradley, Trey Yesavage and Tanner Bibee, ROS, standard roto. Worth holding any of them or are they all streamonator calls?
Thanks! I’d stream in most shallower mixed leagues
