What is a Wacha? Philosophically. I know what he was on Sunday: Michael Wacha went 7 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.34. I mean, what is a Wacha for fantasy? A reliable older starter in a playoff race? Would you agree with that? Good. Okay, that’s the starter you want for the next few weeks. Royals are goofy with Wachas. I’d say Seth Lugo, Brady Singer and Wacha are all Wachas. Ragans and Marsh are borderline Wachas, even. They’re set up nicely, but that’s for real baseball. For fantasy, you need to set yourself up as well. Everywhere I look, starters are getting pulled out of games quicker than ever. Wachas don’t get hooked early. Starters everywhere are suddenly “pushed back” for no reason. Wachas don’t get pushed back. They take the ball every fifth day. Wachas keep their team in the game and in turn yours. Whether it’s Michael Wacha or a generic Wacha, get yourselves some Wachas! Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Lucas Erceg – 1 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 3.67, and two saves this weekend. Suddenly, he’s the closer again. Royals’ manager was voted the ugliest MLB manager, but you can only fall out of one tree and the Stupid Tree is nowhere near the Ugly Tree, so what gives?
Bailey Ober – 7 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, zero walks, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.77. This was in 83 pitches. Then they went to Duran who promptly blew the game in the 8th. A masterclass of managing.
Teoscar Hernandez – Was seen in an ankle boot this weekend. Dodgers were worried he fractured his ankle, but he just had past-due parking tickets.
Shohei Ohtani – 2-for-4 and his 46th homer, hitting .291. He’s gonna go 50/50 and next year he’ll also give 20 starts of a top 20 starter, and people will be arguing against Ohtani going one overall.
Jack Flaherty – 7 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 4 hits, zero walks, 6 Ks, ERA at 2.86. Speaking it into existence: Want Flaherty as my 1st starter in every league next year.
Gavin Williams – 2/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 5.25. Prior to the start, “Nice start from Boyd on Friday, so how bad could Gavin Williams be?” After, “My bunghole is inflamed.”
Jo Adell – Hit the IL with a strained oblique. Ron Washington said, “Do you wanna see helicopters?” Then twirled his finger.
Charles Leblanc – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 1st homer, as he hit third. Feel like there should be a diehard fan of each team on a team’s staff for one specific reason. Before each game, the manager has to put the lineup card in front of the fan. If the fan can’t recognize a name, he can’t hit third.
Marcus Semien – 2-for-5, 2 RBIs and ha slam (19) and legs (6), hitting .238. Me saying to get rid of a guy, then that player homering = Your lock of the week.
Nathaniel Lowe – 2-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 12th homer, hitting .263. One more homer to reach the number of letters in his name. If he doesn’t reach it, he must go back to Nate.
Clarke Schmidt – 4 2/3 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 2.34 as he was activated for his 1st start since May. I checked. It had been a while. Didn’t see him lined up yet in the Streamonator, but imagine it will be on 9/12, and I could see trying him.
Gerrit Cole – 6 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.36 vs. Jameson Taillon – 6 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.57. Kinda wild I can’t see any measurable difference between these two starters for this year.
DJ Herz – 5 IP, 0 ER, 0 hits, 3 walks, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.82. The more I see starters with one or no hits allowed being pulled in under 90 pitches (Ober and Jake Junis too on Saturday), the more I see them as pitchers who happen to be starting a game vs. as starters.
Aroldis Chapman – 2/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 4.00 and his 5th blown save. Sorry, it was my half birthday and I wished Aroldis’s owners knew what it was like having Shit-The-Bednar. My bad.
Henry Davis – Hit the IL. If he doesn’t get his shizz together, he’s gonna be soon Henry D. Avis customer service rep.
Billy Cook – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs as he was called up and played 1st. Looks like he’ll struggle to make contact and has power and speed. Can you say Quad-A? If not, may I suggest sounding it out?
Joey Bart – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 13th homer, as he returned from the IL this weekend, and hitting third. I cannot tell a lie, I said wearing a George Washington wig, I put in FAAB bids for Bart this weekend.
Jared Jones – 7 IP, 2 ER, 4 hits, zero walks, 9 Ks, ERA at 3.82. Now two straight starts worth rostering, but I’ve stopped trusting him, but clearly there’s worse starters, and Streamonator loves his next one.
Andrew McCutchen – 2-for-4 and his 19th homer, hitting .237, and third homer this week. Hot McSchmotato alert!
CJ Abrams – 1-for-4 and his 19th homer, hitting .238. Don’t know if this is a fact, but feels like it: This was his first hit since the All-Star Break.
Trevor Story – 1-for-3 as he was activated from the IL. This could be great news for Ceddanne Rafaela, who should get 2B eligibility now. Hopefully, it helps Triston Casas too, because The Injury Bug will have Story to preoccupy its time.
Richard Fitts – 5 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 2 Ks, as he was called up to take on the White Sox. Dick Fitts ‘n the White Sox was the working title for the movie, American Pie.
Connor Wong – 3-for-4 and his 13th homer, hitting .286. Wong catching yesterday was the natural Dick Fitts.
Bobby Dalbec – Designated for assignment. Dude is gonna be a Triple Crown winner in the KBO in ’25.
Garrett Crochet – 2 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.83. Holding onto him for two months past his effectiveness says a lot more about you than him.
Jeffrey Springs – Hit the IL with elbow fatigue. Oh, just that nugget. [wanders into traffic wearing nothing but a potato sack]
Jonny DeLuca – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer, and was a schmotato last week, and now batting third. With a .214 average? Well, hitting leadoff is Morel, who is hitting .198, and Aranda is hitting .203 and 2nd. ACKSUALLY, looking at the Rays’ lineup, I’m not sure how their team is collectively hitting .231. Definitely not their Sunday lineup, that beat Corbin Burnes (6 IP, 2 ER, 9 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 3.18), who I’m sure is totally fine with nothing to worry about.
Zack Littell – 5 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.89, in 81 pitches. A reoccurring theme this weekend is all starters are stretched thin and the MLB season should be roughly 14 games shorter. If you’re just starting your H2H playoffs, expect no more than five innings from everyone. Find yourself a Wacha.
Edwin Uceta – 1 2/3 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 0.75, and his 2nd save. Don’t even care the role, but give me Uceta in all leagues next year.
Yusei Kikuchi – 6 IP, 4 ER, 7 hits, zero walks, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.31. Joking about cheating aside, Astros are great coaching up their pitchers, and why we should trust their starters, in general. I know it’s hard after what Spencer Zoodles did.
Justin Verlander – 3 IP, 8 ER, ERA at 5.30. “Sure, Grey, Astros’ pitching is unbeatable. Geez, what an idiot!” Verlander is beyond coaching; he’s beyond 40 years old!
Pavin Smith – 3-for-4, 8 RBIs and his 5th, 6th and 7th homer. Pavin Smith said to Verlander, “Kate Upton is yours, and you are now mine.” Joni Mitchell said, “They Pavin Smith and put up a parking lot.” Mark Whiten said, “It ain’t four, bee-yatch!” I said, “WTF?” For the .04% of Pavin Smith fantasy owners, I salute you, and burn you at the stake for being a witch.
Eugenio Suarez – 4-for-5, 4 runs, 2 RBIs and his 26th homer, hitting .250. Unlike Pavin Smith’s goofy 3-homer night that won’t help you going forward, Eugenio has been the third best 2nd half hitter after Judge and Ohtani.
Victor Vodnik – Activated from the IL, but Tyler Kinley (1 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 5.98) got Rockies’ save yesterday. I’m hesitant to say anyone should get saves here, because that kinda of info can cause a chain reaction of disastrous results to your fantasy team. Like a butterfly in Indonesia flaps its wings and you lose your H2H matchup.
Sam Hilliard – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 7th homer, 2nd homer in two games. Hope you held him after my 2021 sleeper! [dodges tomato]
Freddy Peralta – 4 2/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 3.81. I’m being charitable when I say FreddyKBB is the least predictable pitcher I’ve ever seen. Charitable, you giant schmohawk!
Whit Merrifield – Fractured his foot after fouling a ball off his foot. Braves are hoping he can return in about a week. Braves added, “We are so desperate,” then cackled like a madman for 20 minutes.
Spencer Schwellenbach – 5 IP, 3 ER, 10 hits, zero walks, 3 Ks, ERA at 3.78. “Yup, he’s good to go!” That’s Snitker after wrapping Spencer’s elbow in bubble wrap.
Chris Sale – 6 IP, 0 ER, 3 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.38. They should let the Comatose Braves Fan present the NL Cy Young. “We wanted you to present the NL Cy since you’re the biggest Braves fan.” “Awesome! I don’t even have to open the envelope…Spencer Strider–Hey, why did you cut my microphone?”
Jarred Kelenic – 1-for-3 and his 15th homer. It says more about Kelenic than I ever could that the Braves have lost basically a full team’s worth of hitters and they’re still platooning Kelenic.
Spencer Horwitz – 2-for-2, 2 RBIs and his 12th homer, after going deep twice on Saturday. Of course, then he was benched on Sunday and came in as a pinch-hitter and homered again. Please let this be the last three weeks of Schneider’s managing.
Chad Green – 1 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 2.85. Felt like a moral victory that he only blew the game and gave up one run. Confudgelations, Green!
Luis Castillo – 3 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 3.64, as he left the game with a hamstring strain. It looked like he would need an IL stint, and we all know the best doctors don’t have a medical degree and are just watching a replay.
Randy Arozarena – 2-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 19th homer, hitting .221. Sadly, the move with The Rice Bowl was to sell him five months ago.
Joe Musgrove – 4 1/3 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 4.54. My billfold is full of ‘I told you so’s, but I can fit maybe one more if I throw away this real money.
Jackson Merrill – 1-for-3, 2 runs and his 23rd homer. Padres don’t have a clearcut slot for Merrill higher in the order, but it is kinda crazy he only has 17 ABs all year above the six hole.
Jerar Encarnacion – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 3rd homer. Also, in this game, Luis Matos (1-for-4, 5th homer), who hadn’t had a hit in two months (literally). Jerar only feels that way.
Matt Chapman – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and a slam (23) and legs (15). Excuse the French (for their smell?), but how the eff in Effsville does he have 15 steals?!
Curt Casali – 1-for-3 and his 1st homer. Psycho killer! Curt Casali! Hit it fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, fa, far better run run run run run run away!
Spencer Bivens – 4 1/3 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 2.77. Bivens isn’t very good, i.e., yo slick, blow!
Hunter Greene – Could return on September 20th or 21st. For a guy with elbow soreness, this is great news. Wasn’t sure if he’d be able to mess up his arm further this year for no reason since the Reds are out of the playoff chase.
Jose Quintana – 6 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.09. Way too lazy to figure this out, but it feels like Quintana has been great vs. sub-.500 teams at home (i.e., easy matchups) and not good in hard matchups (i.e., easy games to avoid). Streamonator hates his next one and I agree. Same in every conceivable way for the Mets’ Sunday starter, Luis Severino (6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 3.74).
Jeff McNeil – Hit the IL with a fractured wrist, and will miss the rest of the year. Replacing him is…OMG! Sorry, that’s not excitement, that’s how Jose Iglesias wishes to be referred.
Edmundo Sosa – Hit the IL with back spasms. Kinda funny the Phils are now giving Kody Clemens almost 100% of at-bats. He runs like a Kody and hits like a Clemens.
Connor Norby – 2-for-4, 4 RBIs and his 7th and 8th homer, three homers in two games, hitting .286. Keep hitting like this and you’re gonna get a one-name moniker, Connorby.
Edward Cabrera – 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.88. If you pick him up, your friends are gonna be able to smell your desperation from clear across the room.
Calvin Faucher – Hit the IL with a shoulder impingement. Taking over for the Marlins’ closer will be [whoever is within sight of the bullpen coach in the 9th inning after he gets off the phone with the manager]. It could go one of two ways, unless the bullpen coach is cross-eyed. I’d guess Anthony Bender, John McMillon or Jesus Tinoco. If it’s McMillon’s job, then I know how this ends because I saw the HBO doc.
Are (the royal) we dropping MJM for Austin Wells?
Baltimore is just dumb. Had Bello on ropes. Walk, first pitch swing by Mayo IDK why, walk, K, HBP, walk in a run, Ohearn comes up. Bello has thrown 31 this inning. Cant hit the zone. First pitch hack for an out. Dumbass.
8 stranded so far for Orioles.
Shh I started Bello, lol
LOL well this was definitely a Lord of the Flies type game, just trying to survive.
Hahaha
I have the conch shell
Imma push this boulder thataway……
not at you, at the Balt dugout. Just Pinch hit Mullins. Gotta get Slater those reps. Gotta pull the guy batting .302 the last 30 days and .450 the last week WHO YOU MOVED TO THE 2 SPOT THIS GAME FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE APRIL.
Conch time is over. Its clobberin time.
Hahaha, fair enough
Ignore the shrieks of pain. Just the B Lowe owners after he PH HR on an OF assist. Nice that he on the bench.

Haha, sonavabench!
Who’s the drop out of Jasson Dominguez, W. Langford, L. Thomas, LouBob, K. Carpenter, T. Fitzgerald?
Gracias
Carp
Afternoon & Happy Emergency Services Day!
Somehow snuck through into the next round of the playoffs, but feels like my team is in need of some emergency services…
Realmuto = out
Teoscar = out
Jackson Holliday = benched again (at least he won’t hurt my BA)
leads me to my question – 12-team, 6×6, OPS/QS league. You cutting Holliday?
Thank you!
Same spot as you but holding in 18 teamer. I have Lowe to shuffle in an out with. WW is barren for me. Who is the add in your case?
Perfect day for the start of a H2H playoff week…Cut Jackson, yes
Thank you.
Holliday is occupying my “UTL” spot, & with Teoscar being my only bench bat, I’m in need of actual hitters.
How would you rank the following
You ranked them
thanks again.
in another league, both Mullins & A. Gimenez are available too.
looking to add a 1-day bat. Hittertron likes them both. who do you prefer?
Mullins
thank you again kind sir.
May all your playoff matchups go in your direction!
Thanks!
A miracle happened and I made my points league h2h playoffs…totally didn’t think that would happen. Lineup lock before today’s games
I never know when to trust a 1 start pitcher over a 2 start pitcher. I think I get distracted by their projections but sometimes the 1 start pitcher is better.
Are any of these 1 start pitchers worth starting over the 2 start pitchers listed below?
Eflin – @DET
Ober – CIN
Arrigheti – OAK & @LAA
Cobb – @CHW & TB (Will it even happen?)
Festa – LAA & CIN
Keider Montero – COL & BAL
Sorry if this is a confusing question but I am confused.
Ha, nice! I’d go Ober over Cobb
Id avoid Montero. Guy is never efficient with pitches. Hasnt gone past 5 in a month. Doesnt K enough. Bad teams get to him and good teams smash him. Id be scared to start
16 team weekly points league…
with Jasson Dominguez getting called up today…
who should I start ( I need two please)
Jasson Dominguez 3 x Vs KC & 4 x Vs BOS or
PCA 3 x @ LAD & 3 x COL;
Dylan Crews 2x Vs ATL & 4 x Vs MIA?
Thanks again
Dominguez
and who else?
PCA
thank you Master Lothario!
No problem
What is with teams and the IL? We have a 10 day one and they act like the only option is nothing or 30 days.
Silliness with Braves earlier, countless others, Seager and the “banged up to surgery pipeline” and now I got B. Lowe who has his finger wrapped and getting treatment and cant seem to swing painfree, and 5 days later still hasnt played but is “available”. Like why?! This doesnt sound like a 5 day fix, probably a month. If swinging aggravates, MAYBE HE SHOULDNT BE.
Yeah, teams just do whatever they want with ILs, no rhyme or reason…all fake injuries!
and the real ones they lie about (Tucker), or keep on roster until worse (Marte crippling himself swinging).
Hahaha, exactly
and since im ranting, Hinds has ZER0 starts in 2 weeks. Has 5 AB since August 27. What a joke. Not saying he would keep that ridiculous pace, but at least give him a chance to fall on his face vs wither on the bench.
Gotta get Ahmed Rosario that DH work with his .158 in last 7 games or I should be more fair, hitting .175 in last 15 games with his…..42.5% strikeout rate. Just your solid 6 for 40 with 17K.
Yeah, I have Hinds in NL Only, it’s nuts he never starts
Trying to decide to bring up Jasson. Would you send down any of these to bring him up?
Casas, Riley Green, Caminero, Tyler Fitzgerald, Steer, or just hold for now.
Sure, send down Casas
Taking a plunge on Kumar Rocker @ Seattle on Thursday in a playoff week?
Starting Mize at home vs Colorado? SON has him at $29, it’s H2H playoffs.
I am not, but I could see it if you need it
Do you like Boyd more @CWS? $18.5 on SON
Prefer Boyd
Thanks for the help.
No problem
Vientos or Crews ros pts league?
Vientos
Hi Grey – need your help for my playoff first round H2H 7×5 10 team league:
1) sit 1 of the following:
Harris II 6 games @WSH, LAD
Merrill 5 games @SEA, @SF
Abrams 6 games ATL, MIA
2) start top 2 of the following group:
Fried @ WSH
Hunter Brown OAK
Kikuchi @LAA
Shota @LAD
Eflin @DET
3) 1 RP of the following group:
Jhoan Duran LAA, CIN
Mason Miller @HOU, @CWS
Thanks!
LG
1. Merrill 2. Brown, Kikuchi 3. Miller
Thanks last question. He is playing 3 RPs (Walker(SF), Estevez and Joyce. I already have Hader and Helsley going.
Would you play another 1 of my list d SPs in #1 above over Mason Miller or secure saves and maybe rations easier?
Sure, Fried
Hey Grey,
Considering dropping Luis Castillo for Kumar… do we know if he’s headed to the IL for sure?
Also, Casas is generally awesome, but has been terrible for 2 weeks. Sitting against lefties. Would you drop for Jasson? Or hold in hopes he puts it together?
Thank you!
– IANASM
I don’t know on Castillo — it’s fine to try Kumar if you can stream…That’s fine to go with Jasson
12 team h/h points redraft … weekly lineup set
Casas is giving me nothing .. do I drop him for Burger or Horowitz
Sure, Burger
Casas looks bad. I suspect his hip won’t be OK until next year (and unfortunately, even that is questionable since his injury was due to his swing); e.g., I do not expect to keep him.
Points league
Please pick one
Lugo @ NYY
Gil vs KC
Imanaga @ LAD
Gil
Tough call, fwiw
Hey Grey,
OPS league
1.) – Jeffers or K Ruiz?
2.) Turang or Tovar?
3.) Need wins and WHIP – Gavin vs TB, Mize vs COL, Montas @ SF, or Detmers @ MIN
Thanks!
Jeffers
Tovar
Gavin, not great options
Jasson Dominguez, may be coming up, wondering who you might replace with the martian in a 12-team redraft.
Cowser
Arozarena
Doyle
Greene
Toglia
Mullins
Thank you sir, it’s playoff time ’cause of your advice all season.
Over Greene
Jasson getting the call, drop PCA for Jasson?
Sure
This is a real question. Would you start Doval this week with the tiny hope he gets a save chance, or go with Reed Garrett instead?
Reed
Would you start mitchell Parker in a 14 team h2h playoff this week? He faces miami in wash. Parker has been pretty bad but I saw this start on the schedule and kept him around just in case. I’ve endured several pitching injuries and there literally is no pitching available in this league. Would you rather use Yamamoto knowing he’ll be on a pitch count vs the cubs. Thanks
I’d go Parker if I needed a start
One more for you- pitching start, QS league, pick one:
Ranger Suarez home vs TB
Taj @PHI and @CLE
Baz @PHi
Robot telling me Taj is not that bad due to volume and has both matchups in the positive, but it sort of terrifies me with how volatile he’s been. Ranger a safer matchup that the robot loves but he’s not gone over 5 IP in awhile which lowers his QS ceiling.
Taj would be my only 2 start, with 6 total starts, if no Taj I’m at 5 starts. Opponent has 7 starts this week.
Thanks again!
You need 2 starts, so Taj
Sorry, to clarify, in the 2nd of the 2 week championship I’m looking at my 8 or 9 to his 6 starts so even if I am down 2 starts this week I will still be ahead in total starts. Thanks again!
Gotcha, I’d go Ranger then
Grey, you trust Gore with two start week vs ATL and MIA or Boyd 1 start vs WSox. Earlier you said Gore but I saw Boyd is on waivers.
I trust Boyd more, but 2 starts is better than one, unless you’re chasing ratios
@Grey: weekly roto. need to start one of the following. do you trust gore enough over the other guys?
gore – vs atl, vs mia
bryce miller – vs tex
wacha – @ pit
woo – vs sd
thanks!
Not if you don’t need 2 starts
@Grey: K’s, wins and ERA are all pretty tight. any of the other guys you consider a must start in a 12 team league or are they all around the same. SON obviously prefers gore due to the two starts.
Gore’s 2 starts beat those 1 start guys…I would start all of them if I could
Good call out on some of the skippers. Major league managing is at an all time low. So many poor decisions and I am not even talking terrible lineups at least not today.
Baldelli may be the worst of them. His incessant subbing is out of control. In case he hasn’t noticed, Duran has been kind of crappy. That was a divisional game that he lost against a team they are chasing. MIN also isn’t that far off from losing a playoff spot.
Baldelli has the worst case of ADHD
Listen, the statcard number crunching says lefties crush this guy! Pinch hit Don Kelly for Miguel Cabrera. ITS WHAT THE CARD TELLS ME TO DO!
hey Grey you think we get any news on Castillo today?
not hopeful since theydon’t play today
Championship Week (weekly, ESPN, 5×5, head to head), a few q’s;
Thanks in advance, cheers!
1. Bart
2. Morel, J. Lowe, Doyle…Burleson
3. Gore over Gray
4. Roll w/ 3 you have
Conner Norby
Con orby
Con orby
Kenobi
He is on the Marlins. Its late in the year. He is our only hope.
Or screw it and call him Norbit, Nor Nor, or FishPirate.
Better to be have a nickname than be named one. For example, a guy I knew had a nickname of Streamroller and would call having sex with his wife as doing overtime on that assphalt. Clever fellow.
His son grew up to be an MLB player.
That little boy? Pavin Smith.
Perfect, haha
Matt Chapman had a career total of 11 steals coming into this season, so the breakout to 15 steals in his age 31 season was totally predictable. Chapman going .251 / 23 / 71 / 15 along with Merrill skipping AAA completely and hitting .290 / 23 / 83 / 16 with an .821 OPS and Flaherty somehow posting 25 starts worth of 2.86 ERA, 1.01 WHIP baseball with 180Ks in 148 innings are three of the most surprising things in the 2024 baseball season. All three are on my team, Merrill was a 24th round pick, Chapman a waiver wire pickup and Flaherty in a trade. Better lucky than good, I say.
Yeah, I say same, but it’s fun to try and predict the unpredictable
ahem, Sal Frelick Razzball preseason projection, ahem
If I would’ve gave Chapman 15 steals in the preseason people would’ve been like “Is that a typo?”and it would’ve been!
Weekly roto. OBP. Start Steer or Torkelson
Steer 1 more game but Tork 3 vs Colorado
Steer
You know, I was worried baseball was running low on Encarnacions. Thankfully Jerar is here to put an end to any such nonsense.
Edwin fathered 125 Encarnacions to replenish our leagues
Did he refer to them as his little E5s?
Haha
Notice below you didn’t like Steer this week. Would you go Vientos?
My championship lineup this week?
Diaz
Freeman
Altuve
Henderson
Neto
ONeil
Corbin
Happ
Vientos
Benching
Volpe
Steer
Junior Caminero
Cowser
McCarthy
Suarez
Doyle
Sale
Flaherty
Brown H
Gore
Kirby
Clase
Munoz
Vientos works for me
What do you think of starting yamomoto this week with cubs coming in, first start back?
He’ll be on my IL for his 1st start back
Master lothario in a OPS runs homers rbi stolen bases AVG league Would you drop Austin wells for joey Bart?
Do you think horowitz starts playing everyday now?
Do you like these 2 match ups to start arrighetti at home vs oakland and eovaldi at arizona? If so which one do you like more. Thanks
I’d want Bart
No
Arrighetti
Thanks dog
No problem
Grey, you trust Gore with two start week vs ATL and MIA? Or Festa vs CIN and LAA?
I also own Crochett and Houck. I don’t know if I can trust them.
Other waivers, Wacha
Drop Cortes for one of them?
Gore
For one of who?
Drop Cortes for Gore?
Yes
@Grey: weekly roto. need to start two of the following. who do you like?
gleyber – 3 vs kc, 4 vs bos
caminero – 3 @ phi, 4 @ cle
steer – 1 @ atl, 3 @ stl, 3 @min
thanks!
Not Steer
drop PCA, riley greene or doyle?
Can you wait to hear how bad Doyle’s finger is? If not, him
nestor droppable?
Yes
Even more surprising than Chapman getting 15 steals, he has 25% of the team’s stolen bases! SFG is tied for last in steals at 61.
That’s nuts!
Thanks for the updates!! AL-only, 5×5 standard… do I go with Singer (a ‘Wacha’) tonight against the Yanks, or Cobb later this week (if the blister goes away — WSox or Tampa)? We set lineups twice a week, so benching Singer tonight wouldn’t cause me to miss his 2nd start this week. Appreciate it, Grey.
If you set twice a week, why not Singer tonight then Cobb later?
Sorry… set on Monday and Friday. Looks like Cobb would be either Weds or Thurs, at this point.
Gotcha, well don’t fully trust Cobb to go and what if the blister comes back in the middle of the game? not worth it
Thank you, sir.
No problem
Rolled my way into the semis. H2H, CBS points league (-1 K for hitters)
Pick one OF:
Profar 2 @ SEA, 3 @ SF. Only 5 games. Bad hitter parks. Faces Kirby and Logan Webb in 2 of 5 games.
B. Doyle 3 @ DET, 3 v CHC. Sat yesterday due to finger injury and we won’t hear his status until tomorrow’s game. Faces Skubal but obviously we’re looking toward the Cubs series in Coors.
Lane Thomas. 3 @ CHW, 4 v TB. Match ups are solid and hittertron likes him. My only concern is his propensity to strike out, and whether he ends up sitting vs LHPs (CHW haven’t announced today’s starter, TB hasn’t announced Springs replacement).
O’Hearn or Mullins. 3 @ BOS, 3 @ DET. Looking like 5 of 6 RHPs, and maybe a 6th RHP depending on Tigers starter on Sept 13th.
Pick four SPs:
L. Gilbert v TEX. Rangers have a 95 wRC+ vs RHPs (21st in MLB), but it falls to 89 on the road if we think that’s valid at this point in the season.
Flaherty @ ATL. Braves have a 94 wRC+ vs RHPs (22nd in MLB), but it jumps up to 99 wRC+ at home if we think that’s valid.
Wacha @ PIT. Pirates have an 84 wRC+ vs RHPs (29th in MLB)
Manaea @ TOR. Blue Jays have an 88 wRC+ vs LHPs (22nd in MLB). Concerned about Vlad versus a LHP. On the other hand, Manaea has remade his pitching profile into a Chris Sale lookalike and Sale just went 6 IP, 7 Ks, 1 hit, 2 BBs against the Jays.
Sonny Gray v CIN. Reds have a 92 wRC+ vs RHPs (24th in MLB), but it falls to 87 wRC+ on the road if we think that’s valid.
Streamonator likes Gilbert and Sonny Gray, but it’s not high on Flaherty, Wacha, or Manaea this week.
Thank you for your help. Win this week and I’m sending bobba teas to you and Rudy (consider you silent partners in my team)
Thomas
Gilbert, Flaherty, Gray, Wacha
good luck!
final week for the championship. H2H league 16 combined SP/Hitting categories. I’m down 11-4-1 and not too opstimistic. Looking to make up in SP categories w/ some 2 start pitchers.
Rotation: Arrighetti, Bellozo, Taj Bradley, Fried, Keller, Kikuchi, King, Lowder, Keider Montero, Adam Oller. With Luis Castillo, Mize and Tobias Myers on bench. Oppenentis winning IP 80.1- 67.1, K’s- 71-69, Wins- 6-5, BAA- .249-.276, ERA- 2.91-4.28, and WHIP- 1.22-1.41. HELP !!! Lol
what are you asking
Is it a good idea to start these 2 start pitchers? Since I’m behind in ratios anyway
You have nothing to lose, so I agree with your strategy of starting these 2-start SPs
Would start Burleson over Ty France this week?
No
Do I dare start Kutter Crawford against Orioles and Yankees in my semi finals or play an extra reliever (JJ Romero) in an effort to win Holds?
I am, pray for me
The prayers and rabbit foot worked for us on Ragans this weekend!
True! Or we’re tempting fate
Once in awhile we have to get burned for the flames of victory!
Never! That’s why they call me Icarus
About Steve Kwan, WTH is happening? Is he just slightly above average?
Always has been
Dammit. It felt different this year. Thanks Grey.
No problem

I have to lose 3 dudes:
1 of: Steer, Hoerner, Abrams, X Edwards
1 of: Bart, Wells
somebody to get Eflin off IL
also not sure if Castillo/Schwell/one of the leftover MI’s is a straight drop for another SP – thinking Festa or Detmers
thanks, Grey!
could also wait and lose Arrighetti after his start tomorrow to get Eflin off IL, hold on to the adds for the week – we get 5 (!). looks like he isn’t going 2 this week
Sure, wait on Arrighetti then
Edwards, Wells, Carpenter, Castillo
Can I safely * stream anyone against the White Sox rest of season?
* – within reason….but pretty much anyone seems like a safe bet for a quality start.
I have been for weeks, and will continue to…so far only Albert Suarez screwed me
Funny, I had the specific thought last night that Freddy Peralta has to be the most inconsistent pitcher in the game. The guy is so. . . frustrating!
So frustrating!
Hi. Struggling with SPs. 11-team 5×5 league.
1) Planning to start Bibee (vTB), Freddy (@ARI), Wacha (@PIT) and Lugo (@NYY and vDET) next week. Agree these are starts?
2) Then I need 3-4 more from the following (decent SPs, 2-start SPs and SPs facing WSOX, MIA). Can you rank your tops 4
Buehler @ATL
Rodon vBOS
Gil vKC
2-start Oller @PIT and @WAS
2-start Mize vCOL and @KC
2-start Civale @SF and @ARI
2-start Gore vATL and vMIA
Herz vMIA
Spence vWSOX
Detmers vWSOX
Thank you.
1. I guess 2. Gore, Detmers, Gil, Spence

Hi Grey,
Big week ahead in my H2H playoffs and need to figure out who to sit/start. Could you rank the top 5?
Woo vs SD ($19.2)
Bido @CHW ($1.5) (a bit surprised so low?)
Gore vs ATL ($17.4)
Wacha @PIT ($11)
Francis vs NYM ($17.3)
Schwellenbach vs LAD ($17.6) (worried he’s out of bullets)
Pfaadt vs MIL ($29.9) (not sure if should trust SON given Pfaadt’s recent uninspiring stretch)
Mize vs COL ($29) (I know it’s COL but still really skeptical)
Zebby vs LAA ($20.2) (afraid of getting roofied)
are you sure Bido is starting? He was bumped this weekend…Woo, Wacha, Bowden, Schwellenbach, maybe Bido, prolly Gore
Yah I was surprised to see Bido listed for two starts this week when I checked this morning. Still not inspiring that Bido is only at $1.5 with SON given his last month has been pretty good. Gore vs ATL is on Tuesday while Bido @CHW would be on Sunday if it happens, so I’ll have to make that call soon. Still lean Gore?
I have Bido, so I searched for news…Looks like he’s back in the rotation
Yah interesting blip – so ultimately would you roll with Bido over Gore given it’s the White Sox? Or should I trust SON?
Also definitely feel that Semien blurb – made him walk the plank on Friday, then he tries to show he doesn’t deserve to be kicked off board. Still pushed him overboard for Torres. Hoping I won’t regret it!
Tough call, I’d go Bido if he’s going
Hope so!
I predict 50% of MLB players will be on the DL before seasons end …
might be right!
Not just a home run, Semien also had a steal.
1 great Streamonator call, and 1 terrible one. Not sure if that works out to 2 average starts or not. Fortunately, I’m always scared to use St Louis pitchers so I just got the great one!
Ooh a slam and legs, missed that
ESPN Points, this week only, Please rank top 3
Flaherty @ Atl
Webb vs SD
Musgrove @ SF
Peralta @ Ariz
Thanks and good luck!
Webb, Flaherty…flip a coin, I guess Peralta
Thanks….Would any of the following jump into the top 3? (Slim Pickings, I know)
Detmers @ Minn
Taj Bradley @ Phil @ Cleve (2 starts)
Lowder @StL @ Minn (2 starts)
Or either of these RP’s
Evan Phillips vs Chi C (3), @ Atl (3)
Ben Joyce @Minn (3), vs Hou (3)
Thats all I got….LOL
Detmers over Peralta
Or a closer if you need that instead….Phillips
The stockpiling Wachas for September is true and something I’ve never thought about but always put into practice. After the all-star break I start casually picking up and holding boring vets sitting on the wire knowing that those 3.50-4.00 ERAs and unflashy QSs will be handy when all the young arms start getting put away early.
Yup! You have to stockpile Wachas
No mention of Mikolas, I notice? ouch
Bot loves Festa v. LAA (22.0) Oui ou non?
lurrrrrrrrrrvaderci!
Oui, lurves!
Playoffs. Need an OF’er. Carroll lines up with only 5 games this week, all at home and one v LHP. LuBob (ugh) has a tastier 6 home games or TJ *heart palpitations* Friedl has 7 road games but all v RHP?
LouBob
Good morning, Grey!
The sun dawns on another two week championship final round beginning for my squad, thanks in no small part to your near daily assistance! With Seager down, I used my only waiver allowed to replace him with Norby, so LFG!
Kyle Tucker is back. They gave him Saturday off but last night scored a couple runs, had a rbi hit. So, put him back in the starting lineup for a 6 game week (home vs Oakland and at Angels) where they might sit him at least one of the games, or start Crews (6 game home stand against Braves and Marlins)?
Thanks again!
Ha, nice! Crews
Excellent work Grey!
16-team H2H weekly points league…
Who should I start this week? I need to start 3 OFs, please.
Crews 2x Vs ATL & 4 x Vs MIA;
Crow-Armstrong 3 x @LAD & 3 x @ COL;
Tatis 2x @ SEA & 3x @ SF;
P Meadows 3x Vs COL & 3x Vs BAL.
Thanks
Crews, Tatis, PCA
Need a middle infielder to replace India this week (assuming he will be out with the injury) for a 6 x 6 OBP league. Options on the waiver wire are slim. Thinking either Crawford, Wagner, J. Ortiz, Loperfido, Julien, Otto Lopez, or Clement. Thoughts?
Clement
“Please let this be the last three weeks of (John) Schneider’s managing”. Amen to that.
Yes!
Need one to start tomorrow pts league
