Fun to still get shocked. To get a little jolt so you still feel alive. A poke to the ribs, reminding you that you don’t know anything like, ‘Where the hell is one’s oblique?’ Stop poking me in the ribs! I’m asking you to locate my obliques! So, today’s shock heard while I was driving my 14-foot Lincoln Continental was, “Travis Bazzana is being called up by the Guardians?!” Then I pulled to the side of the road (safe driver) and checked to see if he was picked up yet in my RCL. He was by Truss, so then I cursed for ten minutes and tried to see if I had commissioner powers to reverse him onto my team (bad sport). I might have those powers, but I can’t figure it out (big dummy)! Let’s see what Itch said, “He’s only played 13 MLB games, but 2B Juan Brito has not adapted to major league pitching, slashing .159/.229/.227 with a 31.3 percent strikeout rate. He’s actually been a little worse than that considering he picked up four of his seven hits in his first two games. Most teams would probably give the kid more time to find his footing, but in this case, Brito’s reps come for a first-place team at the cost of plate appearances for a recent number one overall pick who is tearing it up in Triple-A. In 23 games, Bazzana has a .297/.429/.527 slash line with two homers, eight steals and almost as many walks (20) as strikeouts (22). He’s been even better over the last two weeks, slashing .409/.552/.750. Both homers were hit this week. I can’t think of a good reason why Bazzana is in the minor leagues today. Or one reason why I can’t punch Grey.” C’mon, man! He was Itch’s number one prospect to stash this past Sunday, and I wish I listened. Imma about to stash his other guys. Can’t believe I missed on Travis Bazzana, who is a pickup in all leagues. I should’ve known, there’s always money in the Bazzana stand! Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Daniel Schneemann – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 4th homer, 2nd homer in the last three games. Sch’s been, man, on a bit of a scorcher recently. Looking at the 7-Day Player Rater and–[seeing he’s been ice cold the last week]–Well, before the last week, he was hot.
Chase DeLauter – 2-for-4, hitting .245. Member when he was the greatest hitter in baseball history? We fell for that one pretty good.
Parker Messick – 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 1.73. Not saying he looks 1.73 ERA good, because who does? Bob Gibson? Pedro? Me vs. my 7-year-old cousins who just wanted to play with their karaoke machine? Sure, okay, yes, but Messick looks phenomenal. One of his hits was off a broken-bat squib to Hoskins and that might’ve been the hardest hit ball of the night vs. him. Making Messick I don’t have him in more leagues!
Jonathan Aranda – 1-for-4 and his 7th homer, hitting .228. Aranda’s not blowing the world away but I see his stats through a month and, boy, am I wishing Busch, Alonso or Vinnie P. were anywhere close to that production.
Steven Matz – 7 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 4.31. Exact opposite as to Messick. I wouldn’t even Streamonator Matz. On a side note, the home plate ump must’ve missed 40 calls. Just zero clue on the zone. They were challenging so much it was almost like the ump was getting in his own head not knowing what to call. The ump needed a mound visit. Also, I was thinking about how, ya know, baseball players like to chew gum, right? What if the catcher can’t do that and tap his head at the same time?
Anthony Volpe – Will return sometime between Wednesday and Thursday. Ah, yes, the magical day between the two, Wersday.
Ben Rice – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 10th homer. Rice-a-HRoni!
Aaron Judge – 3-for-3 and his 11th homer. Threw the smallest modicum of shade towards Judge yesterday, and he said, “I am six-seven, don’t make me step on you.”
Jazz Chisholm Jr. – 1-for-4 and his 3rd homer, and 2nd homer since I said to Sell him. Can’t spell sell-o without el oh el. I still think he’s a sell, but, as I own him everywhere, I’m not complaining about the homers.
Max Fried – 6 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.09. No one is better than my [covers mouth so you can’t hear the number]-year-long crush, Max Fried.
Jasson Dominguez – 1-for-4, as he was called up. Giancarlo hit the IL, which means Dominguez can fill-in for him for at least two weeks. So, ya know, run to first in just under 47 seconds, and hit 120 MPH line drives. Or not. His call. I did pick up Dominguez in a 12-teamer, and would advise you do the same.
Jack Leiter – 6 IP, 4 ER, 9 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 5.17. He’s got himself an old school Pivetta season going here. Should be better, and holding “should” in one hand and crap in the other, and the only hand that has anything is crap because there’s no such thing as holding “should.” His peripherals are still pretty, but I’m willing to fold on the promise in shallower leagues.
Christopher Morel – Activated from the IL. Heriberto Hernandez was sent down so there’s mushroom for Morel.
Liam Hicks – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer, hitting .311. The catcher punt still works, just who you punt it to. Whom?
Pete Fairbanks – 1/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 10.00, and left the game grabbing at the air like he was having nerve issues, because it’s a CLOSERPOCALYPSE!!! Don’t cha know? Like he was grabbing at the air, I grabbed Calvin Faucher, who set him up yesterday, and Tyler Phillips, who has been the best arm in the Marlins’ pen, but got the loss yesterday (in an impossible spot). That order, I’d guess, but it’s likely not clearcut if Fairbanks is out.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto – 5 IP, 3 ER, 9 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.87. My schmohawk post in the preseason of Yamamoto doesn’t look great so far, but there’s time still for him to suck! Reassuring, I know.
Austin Slater – Signed with the Mets. They also claimed Eric Wagaman off waivers. Welp, they’re fixed. The Mets are fixed! Don’t send reinforcements! They don’t need them! They have a guy DFA’d by the Twins and one guy DFA’d by the Marlins. Like my dog, Ted, they’ve been fixed!
Wilber Dotel – 4 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 1.35. Pirates had a perfect game through six innings, and there wasn’t one single pitcher to talk about. Do you see what you did to our beautiful game, Kevin Cash?! You and the stupid Opener! How about you find a closer for your big mouth!
Dennis Santana – 2/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.29, and a pretty miserable blown save since the Pirates were walking away with this game using some of the jankiest of pitchers. Y’all ain’t janky enough, Dennis! Gregory Soto might just be janky enough. Ya been forewarned!
Dustin May – 6 IP, 2 ER, 9 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 5.28. Was it Pitch Your Terrible Pitchers But Have Them Be Great Day in the majors?
Pedro Pages – 1-for-3 and his 3rd homer. In one league, my catcher O’Hoppe went down, so I grabbed Pages like a librarian! And who’s a nerd now?! Reading is fundamental, beeyatch!
JJ Wetherholt – 1-for-4 and his 6th homer, hitting .238. I mentioned how Konnor wasn’t doing as well as JJ a few weeks ago and someone commented how dumb I was, but, yeah, I don’t know where that person went. I’m sure they’re waiting in the wings for me to say the most marginally questionable take, and pounce. This is not to say Konnor won’t get better than he’s been. I was merely saying how it’s interesting how guys develop at different rates. Nuance, try it on for size.
Matthew Boyd – 4 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 7.00. Coasted through Tatis and got hit by Ty France. The freakin’ French! Begging for my starters to just be normal so I don’t need a team of cardiologists at Cedar’s.
Seiya Suzuki – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 5th homer. He doesn’t stay healthy, but I will say (ya) he’s great when he is healthy.
Moises Ballesteros – 1-for-4, 4 RBIs and his 5th homer, a grand slam, 2nd homer in two games, and not the Cubs’ 2nd game in two games, which is the problem with him.
Randy Vasquez – 5 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 2.94. His peripherals still say rosterable number three to four; sadly, he was never a number one.
Mason Miller – 1 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 1.26. Boy, he stinks!
Jack Kochanowicz – 6 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.09. Jack Gotchanosewitz has some of the worst underlying numbers you’re gonna find. So, you can try him, but he will burn you at some point.
Jorge Soler – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer, hitting .232. I will try to forgive him for ruining my Reynaldo Lopez, but it will take some time.
Munetaka Murakami – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 12th homer, hitting .243. Hitting balls to the Moontaka!
Miguel Vargas – 1-for-3 and his 6th homer, hitting .208, 2nd homer in a week, and 4th homer in about ten days, i.e., he was a hot schmotato, and might be again.
Luis Castillo – 5 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 6.35. On one hand, I’m glad I benched him in the leagues where I still have him. On the other hand, why do I have a guy I can’t start anywhere? On a third hand that is Hamburger Helper, can’t see holding Castillo in any leagues shallower than 15-team mixed.
Cal Raleigh – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 7th homer, 4th homer in a week. The Bum’s back! (Complementary.)
Kody Clemens – 2-for-5, 5 RBIs and his 3rd homer. Real question: If he wasn’t Roger’s son, would he even be in the major leagues? Is he the only nepo baby baseball player currently playing? Somewhere, Griffin Conine is glad he’s not currently playing, and on the IL.
Byron Buxton – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer. Is it me or does he homer every beginning of a week (Monday through Wednesday)? Buxton, try to play on a weekend, would ya?
Connor Prielipp – 5 IP, 2 ER, 1 hit, 3 walks, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.00. Final line doesn’t do his night complete justice. He was cruising for the better part of the game, until some late traffic hurt him. His slider looked remarkable, and lacked a decent amount of command on his change. Can’t really justify it in shallower leagues, but in 15-team mixed and Streamonator.
Kai-Wei Teng – Astros announced he will be stretched out as a starter, and will get his first start this week. Today, actually. Kai-Wei Teng is usually how I get to the beach. Ya know, highway 10. Okay, it’s freeway, but works better for the joke. Sue me for the spare change I have in my monkey-made-of-coconuts bank, you louse! Wow, I got mad at a hypothetical person. So, Teng’s stats don’t inspire much confidence outside of AL-Only. If he’s fixed his command (5+ BB/9 last year) and holds some of those Ks (11.8 K/9), maybe, but nothing but a monocle for now.
Ranger Suarez – 8 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 1 walk, 10 Ks, ERA at 3.09. Some days are diamonds, some days are rocks, some doors are open, some pitchers are locked in a two-start week and I’m starting them mostly because of that and praying. Hot George! Ranger Suarez answered my prayers and I’m so glad he had a two-start week, otherwise I likely would’ve benched him. I’m living right! Also, I’d like to illustrate how early it is still in the season, because he was anything but Smoke McBaloney coming into this start. He was near droppable in some leagues if he didn’t pitch well last night. He was sitting on 6.3 K/9, 2.7 BB/9 and 4.00 ERA entering action, and, wow, he might’ve actually been droppable already, but back to the earlier point. He’s now sitting one decent start away from exactly where he is every year — 7/5 K/9, 2.3 BB/9, and 3.09 ERA. If you drafted him, and expected more, you shouldn’t have. That’s who he is, and there’s absolutely a place for it. Thankfully, we held on. The waiting is the hardest part…
Carlos Narvaez – 1-for-4 and his 2nd homer, and 2nd homer in three games, and has a hit in every game dating back to 4/14! Sounds more impressive when you don’t realize that’s 7-for-20 and he’s only played in six games in that time. More like Caveats Narvaez. Carlos Naveats? Narlos Caveats? Meh, you know what I’m saying!
Dylan Cease – 5 2/3 IP, 4 ER, 10 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.87. This was vs. the Red Sox and Trevor Story. Saw the matchup of Cease-Story and thought, whatever happened to VH1’s Storytellers? I wanna know what Cardi B was thinking when she penned WAP.
Max Scherzer – Hit the IL due to his forearm/ankle. See, there’s his problem, he’s got an ankle where his wrist should be.
Uh oh I think Maikel García might be on the 15 day day-to-day list
Adell for Bradish whom would you take?
Adell
El Jefe!
Keeper Points league.
A guy has offered me Roupp for J. Walker. Both players are cheap (Walker $1 and Roupp $2), however, Walker has been a force having scored the 2nd most points up to now for my offense.
My SPs have been okay, not great so far:
Roupp would be the best SP on my staff (points-wise) and I could always stream a new bat until I find one that sticks.
Question is, could I do better than Roupp for Walker? Trade Analyzer isn’t high on either. But maybe I get what I can for Walker if/when he goes back to mediocrity?
WWGD?
Thanks!
BWWIII
Sounds fair, I’d guess you can do better tho
Hi Grey,
1.would you try to trade Max Muncy of the Dodgers to get Bo Bichette since I have Riley at 3B?
2. I offered Austin Riley plus Arrigghetti to try and get Ramirez? If rejected, would you throw in Merrill?
Thank you!
1. sure 2. Sure
Rutschman or Perez? H2H points.
I don’t want to miss out on an Adley comeback szn.
But Sal has been a solid top 5 catcher the last two season. I’m torn.
Adley
No timeline for Jax holiday. Assume it’s fine dropping him for one of itches stash’s?
Yes
It looks like Chourio may be back next week, YAY!
So to get a jump on all the “Who do I drop” train…….
Currently have J. Walker, Adell, Merrill, & C. Smith as OF and only want to keep 4 total. 10 team H2H 6×5 w/OPS and I figure it’s down to losing Merrill or Smith.
Who’s your odd man out?
Smith
Two Bazzana questions:
(Keeper league): Bazzana or Mauricio Durbon
(Non-keeper; please rank): Bazzana’ Max Muncy (A’s); Idalmaro Vargas
Bazz
Bazz, Vargas
Who would you go with-Rutchsman or Perez ROS? h2h points
Adley
Whew – Junior in the lineup batting 2nd.
Which means it was simply head-scratching managerial incompetence to pull your best hitter for a PR in a 2-2 game.
The worst part is it worked, so he’ll probably do it again.
That is weird
Bazzana Stand! No touching!!!
HAHA
Bazzana > A. Martinez?
Sure
Well Grey, the good news is I still have Ranger Suarez on my roster. The bad news is I did not start him for his 37 Points (in our Yahoo League). Not very smart of me. In fact, I think the only week I did start him, he shat all over my numbers, so he was exiled. Next week for sure – HA!
And thanks for the Bazanna tip. I got him right before my leaguemate.
That’s all. No question yet.
Oh man don’t jinx Ranger next time out
Oh hell, I may have done that already, huh. My bad folks.
Oh man
why wouldnt nardi get the closing gig? i think he is the most talented
Yeah, guess it could be him
who do I want to don the tools of ignorance, ROS..
Agustin, FAlvarez, Basallo, Jeffers, Dingler, Yainer, Vazquez, DRushing
thanks!
Jeffers
My Eugenio for his Soder ok? I would have Harper, Breg and Sal Perez at the corners moving forward. This hopefully would solidify LF which I have been streaming with the likes of Johnston, Bauers, etc
If it matters, this is a ten cat hitting league…HR, singles, doubles, triples, walks, Ks, rbi, runs, Ave, steals.
Works for me
Would trading Taj for Marsee make sense? not sure what kind of value Taj has.. or if he’s even for real this season.. thoughts
Sure if you need steals
Hi Grey,
1. Would you trade Merrill plus Randy Vasquez or Merrill plus Arrigghetti to get Nolan McLean or say pat?
2. Would you trade Austin Riley plus Arrears to get Jose Ramirez?
Thanks!!
2. Riley plus Arrigghetti to get Jose Ramirez or Pass?
Thanks!
Hold 2. Yes
Thank you!
No problem
No offense martinrostoker, but if someone came to me with Riley and ‘Ghetti for Jose, I would have to respectfully decline. Good luck with the deal though.
Hey Grey, let’s talk Trevor Rogers. He’s been rage-dropped and I have a need for pitching. Is he broken? Buy low? Who would you drop for him between Boyd, Early and Roupp? Thanks amigo!
Hold
Matt Chapman is so boring. Would you drop him for S Basallo? Is a points league. More of a bench depth bat.
Meh
Such a meh question, sorry.
lol
12-team H2H. I would like to pick up Paredes from the waiver wire, and I could drop an OF to make room. Would you drop one of Stowers, Duran, or Kwan? Thank you!
Kwan
Hey Grey.
Wanted to follow up on yesterday’s post of mine you commented on.
Recap – I’m in a 10 team weekly standard roto.
C – Rice, Hicks
1B – Alonso
2B – Otto
3B – Ramirez
MI – Maikel
CI – Contreras
SS – Wilson
OF – Julio, Carroll, Soderstrom, Abreu, Happ
U – Muncy (LAD)
Bench – Varsho, Hearn
SP – Woo, Ray, Gaus, Rogers, Cantillo, Tolle, Gray, Detmers, Ritchie
I asked about trading Soder for Cease and you said that it was a fair deal.
1. Is Soder for Soriano fair or should I ask for more for Soder?
2. Do you believe Soriano’s breakout is legit? The biggest difference seems to be his pitch mix – throwing more 4-seamers than sinkers.
1. I’d want Soder https://razzball.com/josori-not-sorry/
Chase Dollander – K rate in minors/college is rocky mountain high… BB rate … eh, not so much. Feels like this guys is rolled in sterno and washes his hair with gas since he pitches in COL and that walk rate but worth rostering in NL only?
Yeah
Thanks – hopefully I’m not humming fire on the mountain in a month
Haha
Long history of uber prospects coming up and disappointing after getting a shizzton of faab.
so the question is do i fall for the old bazzana in the tail pipe?
HAHA, I will not
What order do you like more ROS for a 7×7 roto that includes AVG, OBP and SLG for hitting ratios:
Arozarena, Jordan Walker, Roman
That order
Blind 1B Comparison (OBP/SLG ESPN league):
Player 1 (universally owned): 17 R, 5 HR, 12 RBI, 3 SB, .424 OBP, .432 SLG
Player 2 (universally owned): 15 R, 2 HR, 14 RBI, 2 SB, .415 OBP, .447 SLG
Player 3 (universally owned): 13 R, 3 HR, 10 RBI, 1 SB, .301 OBP, .336 SLG
Player 4 (26% owned!): 17 R, 7 HR, 24 RBI, 19 RBI, 0 SB, .347 OBP, .475 SLG
Answers: Kurtz, Vlad, Alonso, and…Aranda! #1, #2, #3, and #23 pre-season 1B rankings. Not a knock on the FML rankings, just thought it’s mind-bottling how undervalued Aranda is. I know it’s April but .228 average doesn’t matter in OBP league. Late round/$1 draft pick for my CI? Sure. Dude gets no respect! Call him Rodney Danger-Hit-To-All-Fields.
Brutal
Spencer Schwellebach or Hunter Greene, who has a better 2nd half?
Hunter
Drop Luis Garcia or Danby for Bazzana?
What SPs might be a fair return for Tanner Scott?
Noelvi Marte—when called—-over Heliot or Dansby or hold?
Thanks!
Sure, Luis
You’re not getting anything for Scott
Hold
Thanks for the Jazz sell giving him the kick he needed! I was trying to figure out what it meant in practice since 2B is a wasteland even in my shallow league, so trying to do better from the bench or waivers or trade seems tough.
Maikel Garcia (2b/3b/ss) just cleared waivers to give you a sense of the depth of my league. Bazzana’s still out there too. Do you pick up either or both to improve my bench? Options to drop are Okamoto (1b/3b), Angel Martinez (2b/lf/rf), Adames (ss). Thanks!
Maikel over Angel
Which MI do you prefer? Keeper/dynasty.
Hye Seong Kim, Brooks Lee, Nasim Nunez, Schneeman, Casey Schmidt, Rocchio, Nick Gonzales, Luis Garcia (WAS), Gorman, Tristan Gray
Nasim
Didier Fuentes back to The Show to replace the baby making Dylan Lee as a long man.
Yeah
11-team, 5×5 roto league with weekly lineups:
1) For RPs, I have Jensen, Santana, Baker and Junis.
2) For SP, I often use SON, but your responses don’t always match up with SON’s recommendations, so then I am at a loss. (And no, I don’t have a brain of my own.)
Start or Sit?
2-start Tolle @TOR (-$7), @DET (-12)
Cantillo @ATH (-18)
Bradish @NYY (4.7)
Hancock vKC (-2)
Matz vSF (9.2)
2-start Baz vHOU (14), @NYY (-5)
2-start Littell @NYM (-11), vMIL (7)
Dollander vATL (-33)
2-start Ritchie vDET (-23), @SEA (-20)
M Meyer vPHI (0.4)
2-start Civale vKC (-9), vCLE (-3)
Thanks.
1. sounds fine — hold 2. I’d start Tolle, Hancock, Dollander, Ritchie,
Thank you. Who’s the drop to pick up Ritchie? Canzone, Pepiot, Junis, Cantillo? None are awesome, but I’d like to think they are all useable in a 11-teamer with a 6-person bench.
Pepiot
Im guessing this will be a season long carousel. Looking for a closer that when they get blown up, its not nuclear. Please rank the top two of these studs.
Dominguez
Vodnik
R. Walker
D. Williams
J. Perkins
G. Verlander
De Los Santos
Thanks
Please add D. Santana to that list. (Currently rostered)
Walker, Devin
i know you are getting a lot of these today, but Keaschall or Bazzana?
Luke
Looking to throw buy lows at Devers. Any of these fair or worth trying?
1. Neto or Rice/Sewald for Devers/Burns or McLean
2. McGonigle for Devers straight up
1. meh 2. sounds fine
Ragans was dropped last night.
Current staff:
Sale
Framber
Eovaldi
Messick
Dollander
Weathers
I also have Lodolo on IL, and will likely need to drop a SP to activate him.
I’m considering letting the rest of the league bid on Ragans considering my lack of drop options. I figure Weathers is the one I can drop to activate Lodolo eventually.
1) Use FAAB to try to add Ragans, and if so, who’s the drop?
2) If I do get Ragans, who is the later drop to activate Lodolo?
Sure, over Dollander 2. I guess Eovaldi
A Riley and Oneil Cruz too much for J-Ram ?
Sounds fair
Need to activate Rooker from IL, who you dropping between:
Bogaerts, Story, or Jorge Soler (Story and Bogaerts are my only SS options)?
Soler
10 team 5×5 OBP.
Starting Tolle today @Tor?
-7.3 on SON. Toronto .644 OPS vs lefties.
Sure
Let’s do it. I’m in.
Good afternoon.
Do I drop Megill for Faucher, Perkins or Gus Varland in a saves plus holds (1/2 save) league?
On a happy note, my granddaughter gets her masters tomorrow from Northeastern. Ceremony is held in centerfield at Fenway!
That’s amazing! How fun, have the best time! Yeah, lose Megill for Perkins
Yep! My son has a 25 year old. That makes me 81..Yikes!!! Still playing this stupid game
You don’t look a day over 80!
dynasty league 16 man. would you rather hold for joshua baez at $3 when he comes up or take mclanahan at $16 and take the risk.
Hold
Drop Stowers for Bazz? (2 seperate , leagues sorry I didn’t put the questions in the same place)
No
Drop Adames for Travis Bazzana?
No
MIA closer Fairbanks having some nerve troubles in his hand, listed DTD
If I need an IL spot for him so I can make space to stream, who is the most expendable from the following four, or who would I miss the least and still possibly be able to get back before their return while Fairbanks could be out?
Steele, Jared Jones, Imai, Pepiot
10 teams, weekly head to head, points league
Just developing a contingency plan
Pepiot
Which two sp ros? Rogers,Weathers,Cantillo,Ashcraft,Detmers
Weathers, Cant
Please rank these games. Thanks
1) Range Suarez vs Astros
2) Wrobleski @ Cards
3) Clay Holmes vs Nationals
Thanks again!
1, 3
OBP league – cut Jeremy Pena for Bazzana?
No
Josh Young or Royce Lewis in AVG/OBP league? Thanks
I don’t know who Josh Young is
I think it is an alter ego of Josh Jung. I have a friend who goes by multiple names for no particular reason other then not liking his own so I am an expert in these things I like to think.
Haha
Ha. Thanks Shitwolf. Yes Josh Jung
I’d go Jung
I work with a guy who discovered at 25 years old that his mom misspelled his name on his birth certificate (“Mathew”). Since then he has had an ongoing identity crisis and goes by both Mat and Matt.
HAHA
I think it’s time to cut bait on the Owen Caissie project. Thoughts on available waiver guys to replace him in my UTIL: Basallo, Paredes, Rushing, Jasson Dominguez, Benge, Church.
Any of them over him — Paredes
Kyle Karros would like to chime in on the baseball nepo baby front
HAHAHA
i’m gonna predict trevor story is traded inside of two weeks. seems like a terrible shitchieation there
Yeah, agreed on state of things, but I’d guess July
Who would play for Sox in IF then? Rafaela and play Yoshida in OF? Just checked out K Campbell, he’s walking a lot in AAA but not much else to write home about.
rafaella to ss, duran back to the of everyday and yoshida dh seems like the obvious. improves their inf defense and they are still solid in the of. ikf maybe. durbin and mayer can both play short. shuffle the deck. really more a question of psychology. story blasted breslow and it doesn’t seem like breslow’s ego can handle it.
Grey – trying to upgrade pitching based on the K-BB suggestion you answered with yesterday. That said, wanted to move Belli, Early, and Wacha for W. Abreu, Roupp, and Soroka. Roupp and Soroka look like potential monsters ‘under the hood.’ You’ve been a “hold” on Belli before, but am I crazy to think Wilyer could outperform him? Which side you taking and is it close? Thanks Grey!
Sounds fair
Thanks man, always appreciate it.
No problem
Vesia in the 6th and Scott in the 7th. They were behind though. Bullpen fluid as your barrista’s gender.
HA, yup
Elmer Rodriguez to make his debut tomorrow. 12 team worthy or nah?
For a stream to see where it goes, but he’ll be bounced from the rotation when Rodon returns
Which two to keep in the OF. Robert, Lile or Adell? Thanks
Not Lile
morning glory
Trade reviews….
thoughts, close, fair?
thx!
Neto, they’re close
Springer/Glasnow or Alonso ?
Alonso
What do you think is a reasonable comp for bazzana (at least how he plays ROS)? 5×5 Roto, OBP league.
Maybe 15/15/.250, so Jackson Holliday-ish
Perkins or Yates for SVs?
Perkins
GM –
I have Devers and looking to bench for now. Play in an H2H Points league. Three best options available are Cags, Julien and Bauers. All have plots of red on statcast. Which of the 3 will have best stats at season’s end?
Julien
M. Vargas or Julien, thanks again
Julien
Thank you, Grey. Enjoy the day!
No problem
Currently have Busch at 1lb. Would you keep him over Tork, Okamoto, Arrez or Rumfield.
Thank you
Hold
Drop Boyd for Ritchie assuming he stays in the rotation?
Nah
Morning Grey, who’s the pickup for ROS, upside Lambert or hopeful Detmers?
Detmers
Hey to the Hey to the Hey, Grey!
Been playing a hot LAD Max Muncy. Drop him for Bazzana or hold?
Lurvesaroni!!!!
Hold, lurves!
Grey,
I want to add Jasson Dominguez but have the following unexciting but solid OF. Would you drop any for him?
Kyle Stowers
Daulton Varsho
Ryan O’Hearn
Jorge Soler
I’d try him over Soler
Drop Adolis for Dominguez? In 12 team Roto?
I also have Roman Anthony who has sucked but I feel like I have to hold onto. And Soler, who unfortunately I feel like could be better than Garcia, who up until now has not shown me what I was hoping for.
Hold Roman
Sure
16 team, H2H. K/9, K’s, SV league. Can only start 4 RP eligible pitchers. My current RP: Sewald, B. Baker, Chapman, De Los Santos, Hoffman, Sabrowski,
Would you drop any of those guys for Mason Montgomery?
Sabrowski I guess
Would you drop Jarren Duran for Bazzana or hold?
Hold
Wetherholt or Bazanna? Thanks!
JJ
Grey, I don’t want to sound petty but with Suarez the waiting has always been the hardest part.
You know what they say, Glenn. Even the losers get lucky sometimes.
That’s beautiful
Haha
Hi Grey,
Good mornin.
Drop Agustin Ramirez and add Moises Ballesteros.
12 team league, with OBP, 1 C and 1 utl.
thanks,
Chris
Nah
Morning & Happy National Superhero Day!
If Bazzana were a superhero, who would he be?
He also looks to still be available in a couple of my leagues but not sure if he’s better than who I already have. I need your help Professor G!
Would you drop either for Bazzana:
Thank you kindly!
Robin
Clement is fine to lose for him
Hey Grey!
10tm No Keep.
Need to make room for YESavage today.
Currently have: Burns, Eury Perez, Taj Mah-ace(sorta), Eovaldi, Leiter and Bradish.
Who would you cut?
Haha, sorta, guess Leiter
Yeah…prolly right. Was thinking Bradish, but gotta have hope. Ill still monicle Leiter.
Thanks!
No problem
I got too many starters.
Whos the drop ?
Woo
Ryan
Shota
Ray
Eavoldi
Weathers
Warren
Warren
Volpe… Sigh. Last chance for me to see what he is…. Hoping for an average hitter who can go 20/30…. Which would be a near stud.
I have both Edoud Julien and Caleb Durbin… Who is best for an obp h2h league?
I’m not sure what Volpe will be. They’re winning with Caballero. Not that fantasy stats matter, but Caballero is on a nearly 20/70 pace. Probably a better defensive SS. they could super util Caballero, but i definitely don’t think you can count on Volpe being a full time everyday player.
they’re gonna be some convoluted platoon
yep
Julien
Kotchankowicz might have bad underlying numbers, but he was on cruise control last night until a Neto error, a bunt hit, and Suzuki decides to take him out for the worst bullpen in baseball. 5 minutes later 5-1 Angels was 7-5 Sox.
Yeah
He should never have been allowed to come out for the 7th after throwing 85 or so pitches. Blame that loss on the manager and the fool who hired him.
Randy Vasquez is not a one or a two…. But I’ll take him as a 3. A striking per inning and a low to mid 3s era works for me in fantasy.
Yeah
My league on Sunday… Miguel Vargas was the#1 ranked player in my OBP league the past week.
Want to see his average go up…. But he seems to be tapping into some power this season.
Yup
Got 967$ out of 1000$ total faab still, how much of it should I bid on Bazzana?
You really want him? Around $117
Rank these closers – P. Maton, J. Perkins, C. Faucher, J. Hoffman. Who would you drop of these 4?
Perkins, Faucher
10 team H2H 6×5 (standard + OPS
Keep 3 for 1 year
Give Shohei (hitter, 2026 only) + Shota
Get Gunnar (thru 2027) + Skubal
Punting SVs, so I’ve got a pretty good staff: Ohtani (P), Wheeler, McLean, Schlittler, Imanaga, Bradish, Eury, Luzardo, Eovaldi, Messick, Early, Dollander, Greene (IL)
So I don’t “need” Skubal but he’d be nice to have. Do it or stay put?
Sounds decent
10 team 5×5 OBP.
Picked up Bazzana. I’m leading in stolen bases and catching up in OBP but behind a bit in home runs and RBIs although Kurtz and jazz and hopefully Soto should help that.
Who is the drop amongst Mitchell, K Griffin, Cortes, Jung, C Montgomery?
Mitchell
“Chase DeLauter – 2-for-4, hitting .245. Member when he was the greatest hitter in baseball history? We fell for that one pretty good.”
Is he still rosterable? What do you expect from him the rest of the way?
he’s still looking good at the plate despite recent results. walking more than he k’s. league probably found a couple weaknesses but he seems to be adjusting. hits in the 2 hole against rhp, 5th vs lefties with a few days off against tougher lhp. maybe in shallower leagues there are better options? not in my leagues. plus, you’ve seen the upside.
I am holding… he looks good under the hood (as OaktownSteve alluded to). His expected BA is .035 higher than it is currently. I think better days are ahead.
Meh, depends on options
Drop Langford or Marse for Bazzana?
Marsee
Should I accept this trade? I get Tatis and K. Marte for Schlittler and Keashall?
Sounds decent
Hey Good people! Are we trading Bryan Woo for Brent Rooker in RCL league?
If you have pitching, it’s fair
Safe to move on from Lawrence Butler in a dynasty? He isn’t second half 2024 Butler? I have Marsh, Angel Martinez and Emmanuel Rodriguez on my roster. Looking for a little more flexibility to chase some pitching.
I’d lose two of those before Butler
by my reckoning there sre about 13 closers active right now who are for sure get the ball in the 9th guys. I’m not even that freaked about losing fairbanks in the dc. in that kind of league if you even have one guy who closes all year you probably finish in tge middle of the pack in saves
Fairbanks is good for 15-22 saves a year, so you kinda know what you’re getting into with him
Where are we at with Shohei’s (hitter) perceived value ROS? How much should we lower projections?
He’s 1st or 2nd overall, depending on your own feelings
Who is the drop of N. Nunez, T. Bazanna, M. McClain?
Nasim
Grey,
who are your top 2?
Bradley @Was; @Cle
Rasmussen TOR; @Bos
Wacha CLE; DET
Warren TX; @Mil
GWilliams @KC; MIN
Rasmussen, Gavin
Tyler Glasnow’s reign atop the 100 Best Fantasy Starts list lasted just 5 days. Ranger Suarez had the same line as Tyler’s April 23 effort @SF, except for 1 extra strikeout. Four of the top 10 starts this season occurred in the last 6 days.
Ranger matched the 2025 efforts of Spencer Schwellenbach (Apr 4 vs MIA) and Kyle Freeland (Sep 5 vs SD) who ended up tied for 7th last year. So, this gem will very likely be a top 10 for the season.
Great stuff, Vin!
Sewald was dropped by another team and I need saves in a league that counts both saves and holds. Try to add Sewald via waivers for Abreu or T Megill?
Abreu
Would need to drop 2 to activate Jasson Domínguez and Anthony Volpe, but not sure they’re worth it for my roster.
I’ve got Elly De La Cruz at SS, so Volpe would be bench. OF is stacked with James Wood, Corbin Carroll, Julio Rodríguez, plus Mike Trout and Moniak at my 2 UTIL (Christian Yelich on IL). So no real need at either spot.
Possible hitter drops: Ildemaro Vargas, or one of my 3b in Royce Lewis / Max who I’ve been alternating. Could also drop one RP at most in a league that counts saves and holds (I have Sabrowski, Abreu, Brash, T Alexander, T Clarke, Morrillo, Jam Adam)
Leaning Lewis/Vargas + an RP, or just keeping Domínguez and dropping and one of these guys above. I can also just drop Dominguez and Volpe. Thoughts?
Lose Volpe and Abreu
10 team Keeper league
Drop Altuve for Travis Bazzara. I do need a little more speed. My only other possible drop would be Taylor Ward and rotate in Utility spot.
Nah
Wait is the Wetherholt post about when I put up Griffin’s April stats vs Wetherholt where griffin was 7-37 and Wetherholt 7-41? I doubt if it is because I definitely didn’t call you dumb. But in any case, I was just posting the numbers. I was not saying which one was going to homer in 3 straight games in 2 weeks. HA. But develop at different rates? When Wetherholt was Griffin’s age he was playing at WVU!
I have no idea who said it, could be someone else
Jazz hasn’t swung hard or hit anything hard until I traded him two days ago. Of course, traded him to the guy I’m up against this week. Ha.
Sent Jazz for Gilbert. Although I don’t typically like trading bats for arms, I didn’t think that was selling Jazz too low. What do you think? 10 team H2H with QS.
I’m going to try to fill 2B with Bazzana.
Ok, follow up question since I was outbid for Bazzana… would you rather trade for Altuve or Otto Lopez to fill your 2B slot?
Otto
Sounds fine
Much appreciated, brother
No problem
U no I love the rookie nooky so I grabbed him in a league I can afford to let him have his tough times in
Haha
Fyi, Miguel Vargas is not a schmotato; he is a legit power/speed guy. Higher bat speed, check; higher fast swing rate, check; shorter swing length, check; better contact #s, check; elite plate discipline #s, check; 83rd %ile sprint speed, check; willingness to run, check. Should be rostered in all leagues.
I’m an OBP guy, so he’s been great there. But, if you’re looking at AVG, his babip is .200, so definitely room for improvement from the current .204.
Cool
