If there’s one universal Cubs’ voice, let’s imagine them singing their version of this old 80’s classic: “You know I love you (you know I love you), you know it’s true (you know it’s true) It’s up to you, Clay, now what have I got to do? Don’t hold me up, Holmes, don’t waste my […]

One thing I’ve always liked about deadline day is the peak into how major league organizations actually value players. I know there’s money and budget and job security issues that illustrate the evaluations, but it’s still a money-where-your-mouth-is moment on the calendar. Some guys (AJ Preller) thrive in this environment. Some don’t.

Atlanta asked about Jacob deGrom and seemed to give up when he chose to remain in Texas. Some of their fans were big mad on the internet, calling for the head of Alex Anthopoulos. They did get Lane Thomas and Bailey Falter from Kansas City and Tyler Mahle from San Francisco. Also Brent Suter for the bullpen. Their fans seemed angry online and are right to suspect AA is looking forward to the post-deadline scrap heap. Jorge Soler is out there now, for what it’s Werth.

Marlins have been rebuilding since the early 2000’s, but there was never a real feeling that they were trying. I can’t remember a time the Reds haven’t been rebuilding. But the Orioles? They’ve been rebuilding for what, 15 years? Okay, but they were supposed to be done rebuilding! They were sniffing glue on their prospects […]

I’ve titled this article Half-Full Nelson because of a pitcher recommendation, but I’m gonna throw out a movie recommendation really quick. Before Ryan Gosling sold out and became Ken Barbie, he was making little gems, with Half Nelson among them. It’s a heavy film, but it’s worth your time simply for his performance. That’s enough […]
