April 13th was the last time Paul Skenes walked a hitter. It was James Wood, the NL leader in walks. Last night, Paul Skenes struck out the side in the first two innings, then Willi Castro laid down a bunt to open the third, because, as Biff once said, he’s chicken! In those first two innings, Skenes threw 22 strikes in 29 pitches. He throws dots. The biggest fear about getting into the batter’s box is that the pitcher could end your life with a pitch to the melon. Skenes has pinpoint control and is still an uncomfortable at-bat. You’re basically talking about the greatest pitchers ever who have that ability. Here goes the stats: last night, he went 8 IP, 0 ER, 2 hits, zero walks, 10 Ks, ERA at 1.98. His last two starts: 16 IP, 0 ER, 4 hits, zero walks, 17 Ks. Since that Opening Day start, 55 Ks, 1.09 ERA, 0.53 WHIP and a 31 K%. Paul Skenes would have a no-hitter every time out if Oneil Cruz knew how to field. But, ya know what, I’m glad Oneil Cruz can’t field. It keeps the playing field level when Skenes is on the mound. It also helps the Pirates’ manager, LL Donkey, to not have to make hard choices about pulling him. Preserve the Skenes, he’s one of the last ones we have that’s healthy. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Joey Bart – Hit the IL with a foot infection. If he had a foot affection, I know where he can buy some pics.
Walbert Urena – 5 IP, 2 ER, 4 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.29. Wal-Bert has hideous underlying numbers. Streamonator won’t like him, and I don’t either. Do you defy us?
Slade Cecconi – 4 IP, 0 ER, 5 hits, 1 walk, 7 Ks, ERA at 5.60. That line has never been thrown before in MLB history. So, if you’re fantasy league has a pitchergami category, congrats.
Angel Martinez – 2-for-3 and a slam (6) and legs (6). Elias Sports Bureau said, “This home run by Angel was off an Angel pitcher. First time a player with the name of the opposing team has homered since every instance of a Phil vs. the Phils, we think. John spilled coffee on our hard drive, so we don’t know.”
Brady Singer – 3 2/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 5.79, and three homers allowed. When you throw meatballs, ideally, you don’t throw to contact.
Luis Garcia Jr. – 3-for-5 and his 2nd and 3rd homer. Lu-Ga-Ju has been hot for the last week, and I picked him up in my RCL league a few days ago. Not the greatest endorsement since I might have the worst RCL team of all-time. Alas! Also, in this game, James Wood (1-for-4) hit his 12th homer. He got Wood, as they say. Then Daylen Lile (3-for-5, 4 RBIs) hit his 4th and 5th homer in the 4th and 5th inning. Too bad it wasn’t the 33rd and 34th innings. Alas!, Part 2: Alasser. Finally, Brady House (1-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) hit his 6th homer. And they said only Alice knew where the dongs were in the Brady House.
Christian Yelich – 0-for-4 as he was activated from the IL. Kevin from ESPN’s “Get Him In Your Lineup” Department said, “I watched Yellowstone for the first time yesterday. Zero colored rocks.”
Joey Ortiz – 2-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 1st homer. In related news, I miss when Tatis was on ‘roids.
Brandon Sproat – 5 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 5.75. I want Sproat to become good so badly that I’m being extra careful not to jump the gun to say he is there, which means he might be there, and I’m not saying it. This all makes sense in my head. Any hoo! Sproat is worth monocle’ing, but he’s not there yet.
Ildemaro Vargas – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 7th homer. On the Player Rater, he’s around a top five 2nd baseman. I know, the position isn’t great, but top five at any position is something.
Zac Gallen – 4 2/3 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 5.65. I know you can’t memorize everything I say (nor want to), but I’ve been saying Gallen is droppable for weeks. He is broken. I’m being as non-obtuse as I get.
Ezequiel Duran – 2-for-3, 3 runs, 2 RBIs and his 3rd homer. I’m sure he will be in this week’s Buy (available later today on Patreon), because he’s been hot for a few weeks now.
MacKenzie Gore – 8 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.50. I promise you, if you pick him up, he will Gore you all right.
Chase Meidroth – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 3rd homer. Bit of a 4020, but has been a hot schmotato for about two weeks now.
Drew Romo – 1-for-4 and his 4th homer. Someone you didn’t know existed has four more homers than Tatis.
Bobby Witt Jr. – 2-for-5 and his 6th homer, hitting .305. Six homers? That’s two sets of three. That means three’s got company. Ah, the Joys de Witt.
Salvador Perez – 2-for-5 and his 6th homer, hitting .197. He’s become a “one hit every ten games and it happens to be a home run” guy.
Ryan Jeffers – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer. Ya know what kind of year he’s having? One of those old school Will Smith years. Like pre-Oscars slap.
Bailey Ober – 9 IP, 0 ER, 2 hits, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.46. He not only threw himself a Maddux, he’s looking like Maddux under-the-hood, as in Maddux had a career 6.1 K/9. Wow, you didn’t expect to wake up today and get Greg Maddux slander. Hey, Professor, how about you teach something besides command! My God, I’m attacking a revered institution! Greg Maddux! Ober’s stats: 6.8 K/9, (better than Maddux, excuse me!), 2.6 BB/9, 4.49 xFIP, super flabby meh-ness under here. If you wanna try him, be my guest, but looks like Streamonator at best, i.e., matchups. Or should I say Madduxups! Actually, no, cross that out. That’s bad. My kingdom for a backspace!
Eury Perez – 6 IP, 3 ER, 6 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 4.94. This is how underwhelmed I am by Ober. I like Eury more. He’s not fully there yet, but, as I keep saying, he can still breakout at any moment.
Alex Bregman – 1-for-4 and his 4th homer, hitting .233. He hits third every game, and I’m pretty sure that’s because he was good about three to four years ago.
Sean Murphy – Hit the IL with a fractured finger, and will miss eight weeks. This comes six days after coming off a roughly year-long IL stint. Good news is anyone else is better getting at-bats for the Braves, even Dom Smith. Bad news is the Braves originally traded William Contreras to the Brewers for Sean Murphy. There should be some kind of Murphy’s Law about that.
Mike Yastrzemski – 2-for-2, 3 RBIs and his 1st homer. Carl’s Jr. Jr. with some ball take-out!
Austin Riley – 2-for-4 and his 6th homer, hitting .220. Subtract what I said in the Bregman blurb about hitting third and leave the “he was good about three to four years ago.”
Tatsuya Imai – 4 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 9.24, as he was activated from the IL. I’m not entirely sure what Imai’s issue is, but at least he’s not even tempting to start, so props for that, I guess.
Bryan Woo – 6 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 3.91. Semi-Woo Kind of Life.
Randy Arozarena – 4-for-4, 4 runs, 3 RBIs and a slam (4) and legs (10). The Rice Bowl runneth over with a huge day. I just spotted Cal Raleigh’s stats (2-for-4, 3 runs, hitting .166) because he’s hitting in front of The Rice Bowl, and I’m stretching the definition of “hitting.”
Dominic Canzone – 1-for-4, 5 RBIs and his 4th homer, a grand slam. I literally dropped him right before this game. I kid you not. Meh, whatever, he’s just going to keep being platooned and hitting 8th.
Shane McClanahan – 5 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 1 walk,, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.27. 1st four starts: 18 IP, 10 ER, 11 walks, 18 Ks. Last four: 21 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 4 walks, 23 Ks. That’s how you turn a corner.
Ryan Vilade – 2-for-4, and his 2nd homer, hitting cleanup, and .281. I’ve been monocle’ing him but Cash is deploying him mostly with his LLAMAS. Stay thirsty for fewer platoons, my friends.
Jacob Wilson – Hit the IL with a shoulder subluxation. Sounds like a device you buy at Brookstone, but it ain’t about rubbing you the right way, Johnny Gill.
Shea Langeliers – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 12th homer. Wonder if he could do a welfare check on Soderstrom.
JJ Wetherholt – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 8th homer, hitting .242. [getting a tattoo of two jagged letter J’s] I call that my JJ Wetherbolte. [sees Bolte didn’t start for the A’s] God damn it! I got the tattoo!
Alek Thomas – Traded to the Dodgers. Finally, the Dodgers get some offense!
Shohei Ohtani – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 7th homer, hitting .240. Not bad for a top five pitcher. Not great for the number one hitter. It’s time for one of those very special episodes of a 12-homer in 15-game streak.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto – 6 1/3 IP, 5 ER, 6 hits, zero walks, 8 Ks, ERA at 3.60. Coming into this game, he had the third highest year-over-year drop in strikeout rate with only Woo and Logan Webb being worse. He’s not commanding his curveball as a strikeout pitch and I kept saying he was overrated. No one wanted to believe me. Next thing that happens is the Dodgers make up a fake injury for him, so they have him fresh for the playoffs.
Eric Haase – 2-for-4 and his 1st and 2nd homer. I lost Agustin Ramirez and guess who I picked up? I Haase a 2nd catcher! Though, I also have Eugenio and Soto and Tatis and that team is shining up a real turd.
Harrison Bader – 1-for-2 and his 2nd homer, and was pulled early because the Giants had to get Drew Gilbert in the lineup? Did Bader get hurt or do managers just get bored?
A.J. Ewing – 1-for-2, 2 runs, 2 RBIs as he hit 8th. At least he played, I’m farting in the A’s general direction. Mets said Luis Robert Jr. isn’t progressing as well as they hoped, so that’s where Ewing’s playing time is coming for. Get Sue Ellen on the horn, we got a hot one!
Francisco Alvarez – Walked off the field with the trainer. Maybe they’re friends? Oh, no, he’s injured.
Jack Flaherty – 3 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 9 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 5.73. Can’t believe I got roped in by this schmohawk again. What an absolute joker! It was the Mets! And this comes after I got sonavabenched by him last time out! Mercy!
Dillon Dingler – 1-for-3 and his 7th homer, hitting .234. Do the Dillon Dingler’s Danglers travel? You know we do! I’m the one dressed as a poop emoji being Zoom’d into the road games.
Kyle Schwarber – 1-for-3 and his 17th homer, and fifth straight game with a homer, six homers in that time. I could go back and find comments from April about people mad Schwarber wasn’t hitting homers yet. I won’t. But I could!
Zack Wheeler – 7 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 hits, zero walks, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.55. Looks better than I expected coming back from the IL, and his velocity is climbing with each additional start back, i.e., Wheeler keeps on rolling.
Brayan Bello – 6 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 6.46. He’s now followed an Opener for two straight solid starts (7 IP, 1 ER, 7 Ks, in previous). I don’t usually talk about bulk guys because they’re, like, Matt Waldron types, but if Bello’s found comfort in the Bulk, I’ll be a Bulkhead and hope I’m not on the Titanic.
Trent Grisham – 1-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer, hitting .178. Trouble T-Rent, they reminisce of over when you were a leadoff hitter last year. Now, I’m not sure you should be playing at all with that average, but somehow you’re only the 4th worst hitter at the bottom of the Yanks’ lineup.
Paul Goldschmidt – 2-for-4 and his 4th homer. Au Shizz!
Will Warren – 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.42. I’m riding Warren out until Gerrit Cole replaces him in the rotation, and I have a feeling I’m gonna be ready to give up on Warren when it’s time.
Dylan Beavers – With oblique discomfort, Beavers was scratched. Did you just instinctually smell your finger? You sick bastard!
Trevor Rogers – 4 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 5.77, as Rogers was activated from the IL. When he passed, Kenny Rogers left Mimi Rogers in charge of the Rogers invites for the Rogers’ Rogers Meet-up, and Trevor just got disinvited for that Rogering.
Jose Caballero – Hit the IL with a fractured finger, which is a bad case of Gamelitis, that ailment named after Mat Gamel who kept getting injured every time he had a legit chance to win a starting job. You don’t remember Mat Gamel, because he had Gamelitis! Caballero now just has to hope Anthony Volpe doesn’t Wally Pipp him. Meh, actually, Caballero’s in a great spot! There’s no chance Volpe’s good! Volpe’s an interesting case study for how hitting weak ground balls isn’t the best way to hit. Once upon a time ago, Volpe was a 21/50 guy in the minors as a 21-year-old. That would pretty much indicate star. How’sever, star Volpe was not. He makes terrible contact. He should be traded to Philly, because he makes me want to be blunt. AL-Only, and very deep mixed leagues for a flyer on Volpe, but otherwise, do better.
Chase Dollander was removed due to general arm tightness.
Gods
one moment the arm is fine the next moment it is tired
Haha
Montgomery or B. Lowe?
Lowe
Waldenschmidt or Bolte?
Wald
Jesus, can we even hold Hoffman anymore, let alone use him?
He’s been droppable a while
What about King then? Good grief.
tatis or jordan walker and cade smith?
Walker, it’s not close
Should I try and add Caissie (just dropped) in a keeper/dynasty? I’d be dropping Gorman ($4), Adames ($23), Varsho ($10) or Carlos Cortes ($4) to make room for him.
No
Messick is another example you don’t need to draft top SP. Got him off waivers in one of my leagues.
Was offered Wheeler for Messick straight up, which doesn’t move the needle for either side IMO.
Who would you roll with ROS in a QS league?
Wheeler
@Grey: weekly roto redraft. warren and hancock for gavin williams?
Hancock
W and QS league.
Who do you like LEAST ROS?
Wheeler, Burns, Rasmussen, McLean
Burns
Hi Grey, Christian Scott, Reid Detmers, Chase Dollander, Janson Junk. Can your rank them for a 12 team league with QS?
Matchups? I guess Chase, Detmers, Scott
ROS value
Add Zeferjahn over J Estrada, B Hudson, M Montgomery, or G Whitlock in a SV+HLD (where saves are double) keeper/dynasty league?
Nah
Grey
Do you think Fairbanks gets the closer role back in Miami.
Is he worth holding on to.
Yes, Fairbanks is the closer
Great thanks
No problem
hey grey. acuña and sale for judge in a 14 team h2h ops / qs league. which side you like?
Judge
Re: Snelling.
Any pitcher that doesn’t take a lucrative contract early in career is stupid.
Yeah
Rockies to the Pitt! I hope everyone got that one! Great show. Would you swap Sheenan for Early or hold? Current Staff
Sanchez
McLean
Woo
Gausman
Messick
Hancock
Tolle
Early
Ha, yup…I’d go Sheehan over Early, but don’t love either
Thanks Buddee! At least the rest of the squad is Hangin Tough, (I’m looking at you Gausman!)
Haha, yup!
Bolte in hitting 5th! I need Rooker to get bananas in Bing Bong. Speaking of which, I went to the Savannah Bananas this past weekend at the Braves stadium. They know how to create a fan experience, WWE meets MLB. We got to go on the field, meet the players and I even got to throw in the Bullpen 10 minutes before the game with a sold out crowd. Not like throwing out the first pitch, but still cool.
That’s awesome! On Bolte and bananas! I need Rooker too badly
Drop Snelling for Braxton Garret or Randy Vasquez?
Braxton
Did Bradish finally figure it out?! LFG! Still 3 BBs though.
LFG!
Prelude: 12-team weekly and deep rosters. We must roster 4 RPs every week; so I spent much of my budget on closers (Abreu; Hoffman; Walker; and Duran). Bottom line: I’m almost ready to punt and I’ve been starting 1, 2 SP/RPs each week. Now I’m ready to drop Hoffman — who’s my pickup?
Killian. I know you mention him frequently, but I don’t trust SF (opportunities + manager)
Bradish. Is he fixed? I’m deep in SPs (so I can incorrectly analyze who to stream each week).
Bradish
Nelson or Lodolo stream tonight?
It’s a brutal blow for the Marlins and for Snelling, who just made his major-league debut last week
Just picked him up in keeper league – now what ?
absolute bombshell development
6 pitchers on DL now with 4 slots
Five on the list with two slots!
Yeah
Looking at previous post – Schwarbs AND Ohtani the SP for Ohtani the hitter.
Which side in a 7×7 roto using AVG, OBP, SLG for hitting ratios?
I’m the Ohtani hitter owner.
Schwarber side, it’s not close
Appreciate your feedback. I wasn’t sure. FOMA of Ohtani going video game production.
No problem
Why can’t we have nice things?
Snelling to the IL has me scrambling for a starter. How would you rank these options for this week and ROS:
Bubba v PHI
Logan Henderson @Min
Brandon Sproat @Min
Braxton Garrett @Min
Ben Brown @ ATL
Thanks!
Is Braxton called up? Logan
that’s what’s being reported, yes
Ah nice

Blogger / Podcaster “Marlins manager McCullough tells traveling media in Minneapolis that Snelling, after one big league start, has a UCL sprain on throwing elbow.Could be out long-term. Braxton Garrett starts tomorrow in Tampa — first start for the Marlins in 2 years.”
I believed you, ha
Nice! I went to pick him up only to realize he’s in my NA spot already. lol
Haha
As someone who drafted and later dropped McClanahan, I just knew his “last four starts” would line up perfectly with my drop. So I checked, and I wasn’t wrong. (Dropped 4/19)
And it is in the humble opinion of this fantasy baseballer* that this is not just “something
that happened.” This cannot be “One of those things.” This, please, cannot be that. And for what I would like to say, I can’t. This Was Not Just A Matter Of Chance.
*-Grey’s mom’s term
Ha, ouch
Need to clear an IL spot for Beavers….
16 team ESPN, H2H Categories. Keep 12 each year.
Current IL is Westburg, Horton, Shane Smith, Schwell and Musgrove. Who is the drop?
Current Roster:
Mack
Freeman
Wetherholt
Schneeman
Abrams
LF – Antonacci
CF – J. Crawford
RF – J Hoo Lee
Util – Keaschall
BN – Agustin Ramirez, Caissie, Beavers (IL)
SP – Bradish, Detmers, Ritchie, Bubic, Chandler, Cantillo, Clay Holmes, EdRod, Cavalli
RP – Morillo, F. Cruz, Bednar, Whitlock (Saves and Holds sep. categories)
Thanks!
Smith
WTF
Now out of no where Robby Snelling is going on the IL for an elbow sprain
Its true , we cant have nice things. Come on down Braxton Garrett, you are the next contestant on stud or dud
Damn
I’m curious about how far Tatis has fallen for you. Would you rather have him or Riley Greene?
Greene
What to do with Didier? Looks semi-lights out. Just never know when he’s pitching, vs who, for how long and how many times. Holds as a separate category. If I knew he was on a 5 day rotation as an opener or follower, it would surely friggin’ help.
If you have a holds category, why wouldn’t you just keep him active?
Starting Ray vs Dodgers?
I am
Which C NL-only OBP?
Gary Sanchez, Amaya, Moreno, Del Castillo, Henry Davis
Moreno
Hey Grey 12 team OBP league question, with Alvarez potentially out who would be the best replacement at catcher?
Jeffers
Herrera
Dingler
Rushing
Jeffers
AJ Ewing over Marsh in NL only OBP league?
Ewing
I YOLO’d it and started Bradish today (my opponent has Woo & Ober, so that’s… fun?) Pretty pleased with the QS SO 7 K’s. Looks like he’s coming around, thank god. Also in that game, Fried leaves with an elbow injury which is never ever a good thing.
I was so psyched with Wood, Jeffers, & Garcia yesterday. Too bad my opponent has Rice Bowl & Lile. C’mon, man!
Finally, it’s 2026 dude. “Rocks of color” is the preferred nomenclature.
Grey
11 tm redraft 5×5
Need to drop 1:
J.Luzardo
N.Lodolo
R.Snelling
M.Keller
R.Weathers
Also:
Gunnar + C. Smith for Judge
Team Judge needs a closer. Fair?
Snelling…judge
Feels like you’d need to add a heavier bat (or replace Gunnar) for judge. Just my .02.
Maxwell Smart Fried – sorry about that injury chief
Haha
Should I trade my Chase Burnes for their Michael King and Trey Yesavage?
Player rater ROS hates Burnes
If yes, who should I drop?
10 team 6×6 QS
My Pitching:
Cole Ragans on IL
Jesus Luzardo
Spencer Strider
Chase Burnes
Emmet Sheehan
Blake Snell
Edward Cabrera
Braxton Ashcraft
Chase Dollander
Reid Detmers
Sure
Dollander
Is Bradish for Eugenio fair?
Sure
Lost Alvarez in a one C 6×6 OBP 12T. No biggie I know. Slim pickn’s on the WW. JT R or Moreno?
Moreno
Three trades came my way which I accepted.
His Happ for my DeLauter.
His Buxton for my B Ashcraft
His F Freeman for my M Vargas.
I feel almost too good about these. Am I missing something or are these solid?
I’d take all three
Nice pulls, all.
Trade Simpson for Happ or Ward? I don’t really need the stolen bases.
Happ
Well that is 2 good starts in a row for bradish. One after i dropped him and today after I added him back but didnt have it in me to start against nyy. Well next time I will use him. Hopefully my luck doesn’t jinx him
seems impossible that this works out for you. the fantasy baseball overlords will never allow it
I have it on good authority that the FBB gods would never smite me like tha-oh crap my van was just struck by lightning that can’t be a coincidence.
Haha
Haha hopefully!
Fried left the game after 3 innings with an apparent injury. Well this is awesome news.
I guess a soul needed to be sacrificed to get Bradish back – HA!
Haha
@Grey: 12 team weekly roto redraft where we start 3 of and 1 dh. have had taylor ward on my bench as a 4th of, but he hasnt done much outside of obp leagues. apparently hes been dealing with a hand injury which he says is healed, however would you drop him for any of bleday, ewing, bolte, heliot ramos or antonacci? or drop for an extra sp (c scott, cantillo or ed rod)?
thanks!
Hold
Rodon or Messick ROS in a standard 10-team weekly roto. I like these young Guardian SPs, but Rodon is more proven. Would like your take.
Messick
Was offered Messick for E. Diaz. Fair deal? Take Messick?
Take Messick
Would you stash O’Hoppe or Kirk to replace G Moreno?
Kirk
Oh Great Grey,
rank your top 3 SPs ROS for a pts league. Thanks.

Nola +.88 (5.14)
Cease +.76 (2.58)
Skubal +.57 (2.70)
Roupp +.57 (3.09)
Did not realize just how good Dylan Cease has been. Second lowest FIP among qualified at 1.81 just below Schlitler, Detmers looks like the best buy low.
As usual, soft tossers dominate the over perform group. Burns looks like the sell high candidate with his 3.76 FIP on the surface. It’s strand rate and babip outliers holding down his ERA. His underlying is not bad though.
Love this! Yeah, was just looking at Detmers…He looks like he’s finally pitching as well as his underlying stats…Maybe going less for Ks and more for soft contact
I’m at the check stand so baseballing between customers.
Love it!
This was cool, thanks.
love this stuff oak
but missing your Bobs Burger avatar!
since i went add free, when i log in it goes to my kid sucking his thumb at an a’s game. i also prefer the gene as bob avatar because of how much it looks like grey’s dickie thon but i haven’t figured out how to switch it
I was going to ask you if I should start or sit – Reid Detmers against Cleveland but the game already started and I have him in my starting lineup
Seems fine
Grey,
your TOP 2 based on these starts?
Gray @KC; MIN

Bradish looks good again
Drop any of these SPs for him or hold ?
Woo
Ryan
Ray
Shota
King
Eovaldi
You have no one to drop
Bradish is currently dominating the Yanks. Thinking the buy low window is getting ready to close. Drop Harrison for him?
Also, with Yelich coming off the IL, i need to figure out who to drop , and it’s between Rooker and Soderstrom
Thanks for all you do
Sure
Yelich has “back soreness” so I think it’s back to the IL for him.
Oof
What order ROS?
Cease, Wheeler, McClanahan
Standard weekly roto
I’m last in K’s
That order
Drop Taj for Christian Scott?
Sure
Luzardo or Sheenan ROS…Thanks!!
Luzardo
Who’s the drop…Wilson or Barger?
Wilson
Grey,
I apologize, I was not able to get back to you/respond to your question regarding what my options are from the thread:
“Grey,
With Yelich coming up I gotta make room to activate. 10 team league with OBP. Am I crazy to drop O Lopez to get in Yelich or do I absolutely have to keep him as a bench bat and find a pitcher to drop? Shallow league and not many bench spots (3), I usually don’t have bench bats so I can have 3 more quality SPs.
Thanks!”
Batting:
C-R Jeffers
1-J Naylor
2-B Turang
SS-M Garcia
3-G Henderson
OF-J Rodriguez
OF-J Wood
OF-Y Alvarez
OF-R Arozarena
UTIL-CJ Abrams
UTIL-O Lopez
IL-C Yelich
Pitching:
RP-K Jansen

SP-L Roupp
SP-R Vasquez
SP-E Cabrera
SP-E Hancock
SP-S Strider
BN-B Snell
BN-M Meyer
BN-R Snelling
IL-B Woodruff
IL-C Mize
So I’ll have to drop pitchers when Woodruff and C Mize come back too.
Thanks! I understand if TLDNR.
Vasquez, Snelling are first two gone
Would you keep O Lopez as a must roster at this point in that shallow a league?
Yes
Hey Grey, 12 man roto need a MI. Tovar, Gelof or Gimenez?
Also playing the long game, add Colt Emerson or Culpepper? Gut says one or both up my June 1, my gut lies sometimes though
Gelof
Colt…think both are up in next few weeks
Best stash for down the road…H2H so don’t need production right away. Taj or Mize? Close?
Mize
Add Giolito y/n?
Cavalli or Burrows would be the drop.
Sure, over Burrows
Grey. What about My Gunnar straight up for Kyle Tucker? Ty
Gunnar
Afternoon & Happy International Hummus Day!
Well, holding onto Imai through his IL stint went over about as well as a burnt pita! He’s toast and will be dropping.
Next up, Santillan… why can’t i just pounce on a replacement closer who actually doesn’t poop in the hummus? Time to drop this bum too, right?
Which “closer” would you scoop up to replace this charred arm to try & get some saves:
Also, we trusting Christian Scott’s start today vs. DET?
Thank you!
A day celebrating chickpea and Beavers hit the IL…hmm…
Kilian
Scott seems fine
reminds me of the old chickpea joke:
What’s the difference between a chickpea and a garbanzo bean?
Oh, and thanks again!
Haha
Is Jacob Wilson worth holding onto in a 12 team mixed league? I ran out of IL slots a while ago so he’s just on my bench. Worried that even if he only misses a month , his hitting will suffer the rest of the year from lingering shoulder issues.
Don’t necessarily need a SS since he was my MI and I already had McLain and Gelof on the bench. Possible pickups would be Bleday, Duran or Nunez if a hitter. Schulz, Cantillo or Lambert if a pitcher.
Wilson is droppable
Cantillo
Small roto that uses W, QS, ERA, WHIP and OBPA.
Which side – Wheeler or Gausman?
Wheeler
wattup Grey. which side of this trade ? yamamoto and clay holmes or e. cabrera and soroka ?
thanks
Yama
cool i already have yama so i’ll hold. thanks bud
No problem
Im glad i held onto Shane-o-mac!
Watching him pitch earlier in the year had me thinking he was better than his lines were. I dont think hes this good, but hes a pitcher, not just a thrower. I’m sure the lack of velo wont get him back to top 5 sp again, but top 30?
Yeah, for sure
Beavers, LOL!
Grey, what are your thoughts on Jared Jones? He’s looking good on his rehab assignment and he’s available. Do you like him, or more just monocling?
Looks great, Jones should be rostered in every league
Would you say Max Clark is the biggest potential rookie debut bat that will have debuted this season? Or is it someone else that has already been called up? I know the value is in the ones that are already in the league but in my hypothetical scenario lets just say that all the rookie bats were called up at the same time, who would you say should have the biggest impact? I would assume Griffin number one but after him. Thanks
You mean besides Murakami, Konnor, etc?
Yea exactly, besides the obvious ones
Clark, Emerson
Start
Ginn @ home v Cards
McCullers @home v Mariners
Neither? McCullers
Think I’ll just leave both on the bench. Thanks
No problem
Some dropped Teoscar in my league. Worth a pickup?
Teoscar, Caglianone, Waldy, Ewing, Bolte, Cam Smith, Roman Anthony
Pick 2
Also is Busch ever going to start hitting?
I keep holding out hope but am losing patience and Luke Raley suddenly looks like an option at 1B…which scares me.
Sure, Teoscar, Wald
You think Busch is bad, wait until you try Teoscar
HA! Now that’s funny.
Pick up Bauers, O’Hearn or Raley for Cam Smith?
Top two from this crew? I hold Rodon and have an empty roster spot: Bubic, Ashcraft, L.Henderson, K.Harrison, S. Gray, Rodon
O’Hearn, Raley
Thanks! What about the pitchers? Sorry that was confusing, that was a separate question.
S. Gray, Rodon
My SS is/was Wilson. I have Lee @ SS now. Not a long-term solution.
We have 4 RP slots in our 10-team weekly roto. My RP are Seranthony, Erceg, Rico, Varland. I have Latz on bench and E. Diaz on IL.
Was offered Konnor for Diaz. Should Intake that or hold onto Diaz for when he returns?
Take Konnor
Ewing or O’Hearn ROS? 12 tm OBP
Ryan
giolito or ritchie?
JR
Ewing? HA! Now that’s a throwback!
Haha
Will need to drop someone currently on my bench when B. Miller is activated (5×5 league with weekly lineups):
Cam Smith, Perkins, Severino, Chistian Scott, Chase Dollander (some other commenter pointed out his next three outings are home (vTEX) then @LAD, @ARI), Bradish… or B. Miller?
Severino
Is Trevor Rogers just a straight drop/shizz streamer? Rogers, Detmers, Christian Scott rank ROS?
Yes
Scott, Detmers
Would you scoop up Trevor Rogers over Mlodzinski or Nick Martinez? What FAAB % would be reasonable?
God no
Scoop up is an appropriate term for T Rogers.
Haha
Hey Grey – love my hitting. Only 2 weak spots are Neto and Soder. We have faith they’ll be fine right? Both are my UT bats, but carry no bench bats as I’d rather max pitching. Would you try to move either or just hold for now? Assuming you’ll say it depends on what I can get… Thank you man.
I think they’ll be fine
Boom. Neto bomb from the 6 hole.
nice!
I traded skenes (kept in 5th rd) in an nfbc keeper league a few weeks ago for gunnar henderson (kept in 11th rd). Not sure I would do that again now. Think that trade will even up in value by next years draft?
Meh hitting is more reliable in long term even if it doesn’t seem that way
Grey I know you don’t dabble in dynasty ranks much here, but Ryan Jeffers is out on our waiver wire and I am sitting on Agustin Ramirez. (Ballesteros is my current C, but he’s been bad the last week+)
Is there any reason you think to keep holding Ramirez and dump him for Jeffers? (my gut is saying dump, but trying to source some opinions here)
Thanks as always for all your work and feedback!
Jeffers > Agustin
Appreciate you!!
No problem
Start or sit King at Brewers ?
Start
12 team, 5×5 roto
Would you stream one, both or neither of these guys today? I’m not behind in innings and could use help with ERA/WHIP/Wins
Mitch Keller v. COL (Quintana) ($37.7) (10+mph wind blowing out)
Ryne Nelson @TEX (Rocker) ($-6.7)
Stream Keller
Two offers for my Woo on the table.
Would you take Cruz or Turang for Woo or hold. I have another deal to get Cease to make up for the loss of Woo if I trade him.
Cruz or Turang are way above Woo
I agree. Do you like Cruz and/or Turang better than Carroll? These are the two combined deals on the table. Which one do you take? Hate to give up Carroll, but I think I come out ahead.
1. Cruz, Belli, Cease for Woo, Carroll
2. Turang, Belli, Cease for Woo, Carroll
Cruz > Turang
1
That’s a great deal for you Play Ball!
Take Cruz and the crew and run!
Thanks
1. Baker 2. Drop Volpe 3. Vargas, Schmitt
Can you rank Taylor Ward, Lile, and Cedanne Rafaela for me? Overall value / last bat
You did
12 teamer U spot, Gelof or Burger??
Gelof
Would you use a very high waiver pick to grab Jack Leiter at $3 in a 12 team roto auction keeper? He could be kept two more years at the $3.
Bolte or Waldschmidt?
Thanks!
Sure
Wald
Hi Grey – which close you like better for saves only league? Abner Uribe or Fairbanks?
Uribe
Hey Grey!
10TM H2H (no keep)
SS Currently have: McGonigle, Adames
Available: Xander Bogaerts, Caballero (IL-will stash for return)
I have Adames on bench.
You think either better than Adames?
Nah
15 team Roto, Bazzana or Keaschall(OBP & Avg) ROS?
Bazzana
okamoto or Stewart in a 7×7 8-team daily roto that uses AVG, OBP, SLG for ratios?
It seems close to me and both have mutli-position eligibility in my Yahoo league, but Stewart is eligible at 1B, 2B, 3B.
Sal
I just received an offer of Schwarbs AND Ohtani the pitcher for my Ohtani the hitter. Do Inhold or take this?
Seems like an easy yes
Yes take it or yes hold though?
Schwarber is a top 5 bat and Ohtani is a top 5 pitcher, that is better than Ohtani, the hitter
Fantrax rug pulling Ewing’s MI eligibility after the game and causing an illegal lineup has to be fixed. It wiped all my day’s stats including the Skenes line. Others must be impacted as well. There are dozens of us!
Not sure I understand
There were 5 teams in the RCL that had Ewing in their lineup as a MI and then Fantrax made him OF-eligible only. So the lineups were declared illegal and no stats were counted. Truss is taking care of it.
Ah, ok
It has been corrected.
Ah cool…Why did he have MI elig?
Probably just a glitch. I never noticed it when I picked him up.
I was offered Jazz straight up for Turang. Yay or nay?
Turang side
Ohtani finally hits a HR and now is probably getting the next 2 days off. It’s clear he is all in on pitching this season and his projected batting numbers should be lowered but no one wants to doubt him. 2026 ain’t gonna be the year to own Shohei (batter) but we’re all going to need to hold and hope because opposing owners are trying to lowball trade for him. I’ve gotten some laughable offers.
Yeah
I dropped Mcclanahan after his 4th start against pit. He gave up 10 er in his first 18 innings. He couldn’t even go 5 innings. He has not given up a run sincd i cut him (4 starts). Pain. He still must be uber efficient to go 5 innings.
I usually dont cut player too early, but maybe i could have given him a longer look if i didn’t have sheehan, bradish and eovaldi struggling at the same time. Edwin Diaz also. Even worse, I cut him to activate Merril Kelly since I thought he was “safe”.
Yup, totally
Sounds like it’s time to drop Sheehan, Bradish and Eovaldi to make them useful as well for the rest of us – HA! Kidding of course. And I only care about Bradish.
Ha, I know
Start or sit Lodolo vs the Nationals today?
Start
So glad i didn’t draft Ober this year. I had him last year with his 5.10 era and 30 HRs allowed. Instead I draft guys like sheehan and bradish, what could go wrong?
Ha
Haha…the moment I ask you if it’s time to drop Ildemaro Vargas (and you tell me no), he goes 2/4 and homers. What crystal ball do you use? Yes…I did listen by the way.
Haha
There should be a side fantasy ladder keeping score of the players we either drop before they have a big game, and the stats of those we leave on the bench!
When we see how we stack up against others, it might help us feel better about things, or much worse.
Ha, yup
Boring NL Only 2C league ? for ROS:
Del Castillo or C. Kelly?
Thanks
ADC
I have Mookie Betts (back from IL) blocked by my WW pickup of Otto Lopez. I’ve been offered Bryce Elder for Otto Lopez. That feels like a good offer to me. Does Grey agree?
I’d want Otto over Mookie
Ok but is Otto for Elder fair?
I’d want Otto
J Walker for Machado worth it ?
Sounds fair
I picked up Warren when I IL’d Cole, and will have to drop him when Cole comes back. I hope you’re right about him falling out of the rotation.
Yeah
Shane Mac left with a five run lead, Tampa won the game and he did not receive a win. Neither Casey Legumina (1.2 innings, 2 runs, possibly made up player) nor Cole Sulser (0 inning, 3 runs, spells own last name wrong) was charged with a blown save. Kevin Kelly (1 inning, 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 bb, 1 k) was given a blown save. Ian Seymore butts in with 11 pitches and for his strenuous evening is awarded a win. Cleavenger allows Manfred Man to score and picks up a save.
Goofy box score. Well you know, Suzyn, that’s just baseball.
I laughed way harder at that than I thought I would. Well done!
Haha, yup…I don’t know why they can’t fix the win stat…just give it to whoever pitches the most innings for the winning team
Haha. Not sure that fixes it. A starter giving up 6 runs in 3 IP and leaves trailing 6-0 would end up with the win if 3 relievers go 2 shutout innings each and the team comes back to win 7-6.
This feels less likely than what keeps happening with starters going 4-5 IP…How about this, the standard is giving it to the guy who pitches most IP for winning team unless it’s a rare case like how they have no where they can use their judgment
Subtract 1 IP from the current standards? So 4 IP for the W, 5 IP for a QS?
Fine with me, anything’s better than what it is
Fine. I don’t have a solution. I also don’t have a problem with leaving it alone. This is my 60th year as a fan and the rule never bothered me. The only change I’m interested in is complete automated strike calling.
I’m good with ABS too, let’s go!
Thanks. Then I’d be 1st (instead of 7th).
No problem
Hey Grey. 12 team, H2H, 7×7.. thinking about offering my Gunnar, Basallo and Lile to an O’s homer needing a C. For his Tucker, Turang and Cam Smith. Your thoughts please.
Tucker/Turang. Doesn’t feel close.
Gunnar has become Joey Gallo with the Mendoza line batting average.
Tucker
Hey, what about just Gunnar and Basallo for Tucker? Thanks again
Gunnar
Started Cecconi because of the streamanator and can’t really say I’m upset with the start. Would have loved the win though.
Yeah
Salvador Perez looks slow! When I saw he hit a Homer, I wondered how far. 381 feet! Will Salvy bounce back like last year, or is he cooked?
Cooked
Hey Grey, is this post from like 5 years ago? Only now is John John realizing Sal is slow? HA!
Ha
Not only did Skenes match Ranger Suarez for #1 on the 100 Best Fantasy Starts list, Ober earned the #3 slot. Amazing! Skenes now has 3 top 10 starts. That may be unprecedented. Also #72. Gore earned his second entry, giving him #57 & #59.
Wow! That’s crazy
Did feel like a significant day yesterday for starts
Any sight of Jeffrey Springs on that list gents? HA!
Bag o’ Shite!
Haha
Grey, you rule! I need room in NL-only, waive Nate Lowe or Ty France?
Thanks! Ty
Daylen Lile
Sonofabench!!!!!
Probably his best game of the year, and I got no piece of it, but neither did anyone else in my league.
Elias
Seth Beer homered at the Brewers
Stone Garrett homered at the Rockies
Some Fielder named Prince homered at the Royals.
Red Schoendienst homered against the Reds said an old guy
when I was a kid, I thought they were named after him
Haha
Bo Bichette and Brandon Nimmo were just dropped in my 5×5 roto. Worth a flyer? Would you drop Andrew Vaughn and Bolte for them
Bolte for Bo
these blurbs taking me waaay back. The Woo bit today reminded me of the college apartment aroma of stale bong water on the carpet, Natural Light and Ramen noodles.
HAHA
Re: Bello comment. on bulk guys. ESPN leagues limit starts — so I am always interested in guys getting starter-like stats w/o starting (Dollander is the best).
Is there any place (Razzball or others) that identifies probable bulk opportunities in the
next day or so?
I don’t know
Add Brayan Rocchio or Chase Meidroth over Willy Adames? Keeper/dynasty. Adames is $23 and Meidroth/Rocchio would be $4
Nah
I had both Tatsuya Imai and Trevor Rogers come off the I.L. Yesterday and need to drop one so I can manage my roster. They both seem to suck equally, who would you drop?
Imai
If he hits Volpe should take SS, Caballero 3b?
We’ll see
any chance you’d start Bradish against the yankees coming off his best start of the year? i’m currently benching to save my ratios 12 tm H2H mixed 6×6 QS
Yes
FML-
Welcome back Trevor Rogers blech! Drop one in a twelve team mixed league: Rogers, Snelling, or Lodolo….
Thank you!
Rogers
Can you have someone from your staff do a wellness check on me? I traded Langeliers for Soderman. Had Contreras at catcher and Othani at utility and needed an outfielder. But on the bright side of it that Solderman last night after grounding out to the Catcher followed by a pop up to SS and a groundout to pitcher he did fly out to the outfield in his final at bat. BTW I live in Weymouth Massachusetts.
Ouch, ok, will send someone to Weymouth to update you
I live in Reading, MA Grey. I can swing by. On my way Peter.
Hey Peter, are you old enough to remember a bar named Michelinos on Route 28 in Weymouth? I used to go there on occasion and play pool. A dive bar for sure, but a cool dive bar.
Where else was I going to find Green Grass and High Tides on a juke box – HA!
Appreciate that!
Hey Grey! Turns out I don’t need Tatis to hit HRs, so long as Schwarber keeps hitting one every single day. Combined and averaged, they are on pace to go 30-20. Lower case hurray! And I’m starting Dollander one more time @PIT, then prob back to waivers for vs TEX followed by @ARI or @LAD. Will keep him lightly monocled for when he is traded to the Mets three years from now.
Same
I can only add one and I was leaning toward Bolte over Ewing. Now I’m thinking about taking a shot at A.J. It’s a real cliffhanger! Am I wrong to think neither Robert nor Butler are ever going to be major impediments to their respective playing times?
Go Ewing
Jose Caballero or Ha-Seong Kim in a Fangraphs points league, rest of season? Don’t really need either to start; this would be for depth.
Jose
What’s up with Soderstrom? Droppable?
No
Am I delusional in thinking that Cags and Cam Smith are going to turn it on one day soon? Should I drop them already?
I dropped Cags, and would drop Cam
Very shocked you didn’t mention on Monday that Raleigh was 0 for his last 36, considering how down on his draft value you were. Chris Davis was making plans to be at the game Raleigh broke his 0-54 hitless streak but it was not to be. haha
Ha, yeah
Don’t ever again compare Ober’s sorry ass to Maddux.
Haha
Stop crying. It’s not a good look for a man, well, not usually. Fucking f*ggot. Miserable safe space loser.
Grey,
Love you, man.
Comatose Knicks fan wakes up after 40 years when a patient in his room roars “EWING” watching the Mets game.
Cheers,
Ante
HA
I can’t get someone to accept dick and you wanna see the trade someone made in my league? We’re all talking shit it blows my mind:
His PCA, Devers, and Eovaldi
For
OHTANI and Jeremy Pena
Should I be pissed?
Nope
You’re crying. It’s not a good look for a man. Well not usually.
Ohtani side
Gotta love Captain Obvious retorts! They are fantastic!
