I’m not one to yearn for the long-gone, halcyon days, waning nostalgic for the old stuff. Faster games are nice, I like the pitch clock and I don’t miss watching pitchers hit. 40-man rosters though? Ah, the salad days. Back in the day (2019), rosters would turn from a soda can to a Foster’s. We’d get overflowing dugouts and guys would have to sit in the front row, behind the dugout, because they were out of room. Bullpens 15-men deep with 14 different mustaches. Now, we get Ryan Yarbrough. Not sure why they switched this — I could google it, but Google’s dead, babe — but I imagine it had financial motivations. With all that said, the few players who are coming up may or may not have playing time, which is the most important thing right now. It’s why I highlighted Sal Stewart yesterday (playing time) and didn’t go that in-depth on Carter Jensen (I think less playing time). In other callup news, Mariners promoted Harry Ford, who sounds like what you called your 70’s Thunderbird with shag carpet seat covers. He’s a catcher with speed and power (16/7 in 374 ABs), but (keyword) being behind (another keyword) Cal is a great place to not see playing time, or see anything, really. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Luis Castillo – 4 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.94. I was out on him this year, so this isn’t a Me Problem, but something definitely broke with Castillo this year, and doesn’t seem fixable.
Shane Baz – 6 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.98. With a 5-ish ERA, I wouldn’t start him even if the Streamonator was positive on him, but, ya know, people have differing levels of needs.
Andrew Heaney – Signed by the Dodgers. I like the idea of this signing. Now whenever the Dodgers are down by six or more runs, they bring in Heaney to save Enrique Hernandez’s arm.
Brayan Bello – 5 IP, 3 ER, 9 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.07. Bello should’ve pitched better yesterday, and I should’ve wrote a better blurb for him. Some days, Red Sox dress in yellow, she says, “Hello, come stream with my you fine Bello.”
Trevor Story – 3-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 23rd homer. What’s crazier: Story’s bounce back season or that Aroldis hasn’t given up a hit in 46 batters after being told he could locate his fastball for the first time in his career? Aroldis being told he can locate pitches and Taj Bradley learning about scouting reports? What’s next, watching video of other teams to prepare? Foolish!
Parker Messick – 3 2/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 2.08. Still like Messick, but this was a hideous matchup that you should’ve wanted no part of.
Kyle Manzardo – 1-for-4 and his 24th homer, 3rd homer in four games. Next year I’m drafting, Manzardo, Caglianone, and Pasquantino, and asking Steve Balboni to manage the squad.
Ha-Seong Kim – Braves claimed him as the Braves continue to think they have a chance for the playoffs even though they’ve been eliminated since April.
Spencer Strider – 5 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 1 K, ERA at 4.97. Be interesting if they start tamping down his innings. Not because of the playoffs they think they’re getting into that they’re not, but because he didn’t pitch last year, and is clearly off this year.
Ian Happ – 3-for-5, 2 runs and a slam (19) and legs (6). Shizz Happ and’s that is about it!
Scott Kingery – Was called up by the Angels, which is whatever, but they sent down Christian Moore. Ya know, their actual prospect. So, now all offseason here’s what you’ve done to Moore: “I was promoted, and failed.” They’ve just killed any confidence for what? Not to mention, who gets sent down in September? The rosters expanded! Just one of the worst organizations.
Taylor Ward – Sounds like he avoided major injury to his front-facing melon and will return later this week. Guess it’s fine that the Astros continue to play with a metal fence. Sideways grin emoji with eyes that are doing googly-moogly.
Luis Garcia – 6 IP, 3 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 6 Ks, as he was activated from the IL. Finally, a Luis Garcia that plays in MLB! This was his first start since 2023, and I imagine he’ll be rusty the rest of the year, and I’m not looking to try him on any of my teams, but, with that said (Grey’s turning the ship around!), the Astros are such a good team with pitchers and he looked better than I expected yesterday.
Jo Adell – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 31st homer. I’ve said this before, but it’s wild that Adell is now better than Trout for fantasy (and real baseball, if being honest).
Zach Neto – 1-for-4 and his 25th homer. Neato.
Yusei Kikuchi – 5 2/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.83. Yusei, Neto, check your libido. Okay, I’ll stop now.
Colson Montgomery – 2-for-5 and his 16th homer. He’s got the same number of homers as Gunnar Henderson. All those Colson homers have been hit in the 2nd half.
Bailey Ober – 5 IP, 4 ER, 8 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 5.23. Gonna start calling him by his German name, Obershizz.
Royce Lewis – 1-for-4, 2 runs and his 10th homer, 2nd homer in four games. Okay, seemed to figure out the “staying healthy” thing, now can he figure out the “no longer being good” thing?
JJ Bleday – 2-for-5, 3 runs, 3 RBIs and his 11th and 12th homer. That’s preseason sleeper–[dodges thrown tomato]–crap! My bad! But he might be a schmotato now! [another thrown tomato smashes me in the face]
Zack Gelof – 3-for-5, 2 runs and his 2nd homer, that’s two homers in a week. Don’t think there’s more here than some occasional homers and steals, but Bing Bong is an excellent park (yes, he was on road yesterday), and Gelof is at a weak position.
Luis Morales – 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 1.59. As the world’s biggest and oldest A’s fan (officially crowned this year), Morales’s got my flutters fluttering. 98 MPH fastball that’s just nasty and a pretty incredible 88 MPH slider that falls off the table. Don’t love the home park, which might affect me writing a sleeper post for him for next year, but I’m absolutely intrigued.
Ivan Herrera – 1-for-3 and his 12th homer. Three catchers in yesterday’s Cards’ lineup, and Crooks on the bench. I’m obsessed with Cards and their catchers, apparently. They’re never caught shorthanded!
Sonny Gray – 6 IP, 7 Er, ERA at 4.43. A pathetically sad line against the A’s at home. Is he on BetMGM cooking over-easy’s on himself? Get off my team, you giant loser! You’re giving me Grey a bad name, Gray!
Kai-Wei Teng – 5 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 9 hits, zero walks, 8 Ks, ERA at 7.23. Someone was clearly mad that Razzball featured 17 variations of the Thong Song pun for Jonah Tong, and zero Teng mentions.
Rafael Devers – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 29th homer, 2nd homer in two games. Giants are in Coors for a series, and Devers might have 32 homers by the time they leave, and alleviate all concerns — Allevers? No, that’s a pharmaceutical.
Willy Adames – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 26th homer. He’s also somewhat salvaged his season in the 2nd half, except for his average (.230) is a bit of a drag.
Jacob Misiorowski – 4 1/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 4.50. Sighorowski. It’s been time to move on.
Brice Turang – 2-for-3 and his 17th homer, and 11 homers since the break. Elly De La Cruz has one homer.
Caleb Durbin – 1-for-4, 2 runs and a slam (10) and legs (12). Five since the break. Elly still one.
Abner Uribe – 1 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 1.90. Bit of a hiccup, which I’d think more of if Shelby Miller didn’t enter earlier in the game, give up two earned, record no outs and leave with a trainer.
Brandon Marsh – 4-for-5, 2 runs, 1 RBI. So, this is incredibly random, but if you sort highest BABIPs since 1900 with 2,000 plate appearances, Marsh is top five in the last 125 years.
Bryce Harper – 2-for-5 and his 23rd homer. He could hit 10+ homers in September, and make his entire season more palatable, but I think better days are behind him, and not sure I’m in next year. Might be based on cost thing.
Chris Bassitt – 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.10 vs. Hunter Greene – 6 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.70. This matchup was billed as, “Bassit/Hunter, ain’t nothing but a hound dog.”
Emilio Pagan – 1/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 3.34, and 6th blown save. Guy collapsed at the worst possible time for me (and the Reds, I guess, but who cares about them). Adding insult to injury, I needed Pagan to close the game and he allowed a home run to Bo PieceofChette of all people! Tony Santillan should really be the closer.
Isiah Kiner-Falefa – Claimed by the Jays. Missed this on Sunday, but what’s one extra day to get annoyed about an incompetent team? Pirates didn’t trade him at the deadline for anything, because. Dot dot dot. WHY?!
Bo Bichette – 4-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 17th homer. When I get back in on PieceofChette next year, he’s gonna hit three homers in 155 games and .240.
Daulton Varsho – 1-for-3 and his 16th homer, 2nd homer in eight games. Was part of that gorgeous, aforementioned, 9th inning collapse by Pagan. He must be tipping (I say this about every struggling pitcher, it’s my thing).
Jason Adam – Was carted off thew field with a ruptured quad tendon. Ruptured anything sounds awful. Rapture? Blondie, cool. Rupture? Terrible.
Jackson Merrill – Activated from the IL, but didn’t start. Usually I do the Kevin from ESPN bit here for players who are obviously solid and should be put back in your lineup once activated, but I gotta say I was between Beavers and Merrill in one league, and nearly stuck with Beavers–[Cancel Police break down door] Stuck with! I said STUCK WITH!
Jeremiah Jackson – 3-for-5 and his 3rd homer. Would be hilarious if this is the Jackson that actually breaks out for the Orioles. He’s now hitting 2nd behind that other Jackson, and Jackson, uh, this one, Jeremiah is a power/speed guy — 15/11 in 339 ABs in the minors, and hit for a .313 average with 14.2 K%, which is excellent too. I’m convinced the Orioles have no idea what they’re doing in the minors. Jeremiah is 25 and just now being called up, when he’s done nothing but hit in the minors. Just languishing. Any hoo! I’d grab Jackson for a hot bat, and see where this goes.
Kyle Bradish – 4 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 3.60 vs. Dylan Cease – 4 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 4.81. This matchup was billed as, “It is so incredibly frustrating my 1st starter drafted in some leagues is as good as random dude who was injured all year.”
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. – Looked like he hurt his ACL in the outfield and was carted off the field. Noooooo, not Lou-Gu-Ju! Ugh, don’t ever love anything.
Tyler Locklear – 1-for-2 and his 3rd homer. With Pavin Smith injured, Locklear is playing every day, hitting 8th and I’m stressing the meaning of the word “hitting” so far. He’s hitting .165.
Ketel Marte – 1-for-5 and his 24th homer. Following him was Geraldo Perdomo () with his 16th homer. Which one is higher on the Player Rater? Bzzt, wrongo! And it’s not close. Perdomo is near-top 20 overall!
Ryne Nelson – 6 IP, 3 ER, 5 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.57. Ryne’s (sounds weird) having the kind of dream NL-Only season — solid-enough everything — and being available to stream in shallower leagues, rightfully. Rynefully?
Cody Freeman – 2-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 2nd homer. If you streamed Freeman, balloons should fall from your ceiling, congratulating you on this batty call.
Wyatt Langford – 1-for-5 and his 21st homer, 2nd homer in three games. Where does he need to get in September to not feel like a total bust? 30/20? 25/25? All within realm of possibilities, but he’s got a lot of September work to do.
Sean Manaea – 3 2/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 5.60. Welp, see ya in five mañanas, Manaea.
Juan Soto – 2-for-3, 2 runs, 6 RBIs and his 36th homer, a grand slam. In the world of “Strange But True,” Soto’s grand slam yesterday was only his 2nd of his career. Also, 35 of his 36 homers were solo or two-run homers. “That shizz is weird,” someone from Elias Sports Bureau.
Charlie Morton – 3 2/3 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 5.51. Was cool of Manfred to unleash the bouncy, playoff balls a month early. “You get a little taste.” That’s Rob Manfred.
Wenceel Perez – 1-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 12th homer, hitting .259. Grabbed him for a batty call, and now will begin my toughest battle: Dropping a guy who just homered. Can Grey overcome? Challenge: Impossible!
Jahmai Jones – 4-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer. “Oh, Lord Jahmai, the almighty,” sounds like Brand Nubian lyrics.
Andrew Alvarez – 5 IP, 0 ER, 3 baserunners, 4 Ks in his 1st major league start, and this was better than he looked at any point in the minors, which is a great time to say: Streamonator all month, September is a great time to stream.
Edward Cabrera – Done for the year with an elbow strain. Oh no, that’s EdCab’s steering arm. Before ranking players next year, I come back here to look at last bits of news, so I’m gonna talk directly to December Grey now. “Hey, man, I know you’re likely ranking players for 2026. Good job, by the way. Very handsomely done. Since no one will say it to you, way to rank Daniel Schneemann! Great job! So, you’re back here looking to see what you thought of EdCab towards the end of the season? It’s listed as an elbow strain. Has he had Tommy John surgery yet? Check on that, would ya? Also, how do you stay so young? Skin cream?”
Dylan Beavers – I am in a deep keeper league – KEEP 10 PLAYERS – He looks ok but I am not really getting across the board stats that would make him a keeper if I drop him would it be a mistake at this point – thank you
Obviously wait for Grey’s take…and a lot depends on who else you’re debating on protecting vs. Beavers.
I have him as one of my 8 keepers in a mixed league. He’s 6’5″, hits from the left side and put up 18HRs/23SBs in only 94 games this year at AAA. Also a career .842 OPS in 361 games, with 87 SBs. Could turn into a 20HR-35SB Josh Lowe-y type (hopefully without all of the injuries!). That’s a fun player to own and cheap/good building block for a roster next year.
Just my two cents…good luck.
That Paddack move to the pen really paying off. Detroit is going to get annihlated every non-Skubal start in the playoffs. After that hot start, their division propped them up in my opinion.
Cecconi can say he dueled Crochet to a draw. Heh. *Sees statline and cries*
Volpe leash is how long? McMahon-Caballero-Jazz makes more sense offensively and defensively.
Is Adames going to back into a .240 30/10 year and then people buy into him next year because they didnt own him? Please please let that happen.
Whoever did their homework and was debating about Adames vs Freeland. Well…..Freeland lasted 8 pitches and a HR to Devers before getting ejected soooooooo yeah.
https://bdata-producedclips.mlb.com/977a4164-80b8-4ccb-8dd9-48e1e915f786.mp4
That escalated very quickly…
[Bull Durham Radio Announcer]:
I’ve never seen Raffy so angry, and frankly, sports fans, he used a certain word that’s a no-no with pitchers.
I think he said “if you throw it 83 over the middle that’s what’s going to happen”, but I can’t be sure.
A la Major League II…
Devers: What do you call that garbage?
Freeland: It’s my eliminator. I’ve got another pitch. You get a piece of it, I’ll let you name it.
Freeland – newsflash – you’ve been a 5+ ERA pitcher for 3 years running. That’s what sluggers do to inning-eating/junk SPs like you.
Kristian Campbell is not getting the call up
He been hitting down there – I would like to see what he can do or doo
Same
James Wood heard your podcast and took it personal.
Thankfully!
In the midst of H2H playoffs in deep (20) keeper league. Drop Seth Lugo for Luis Morales?
Yes
Thank you! Loved the Chris Bassitt/Hunter Greene blurb!
Thanks!
I complain about Sonny Gray, but I should also be complaining about Hoffman. 14 hr in 57 ip. 1 every 4 innings for a closer. He gave up 7 er over his last 3+ innings. He is another reason why my era and whip sucks.
5.02 era, 2.84 siera, 3.34 xfip. 23% hr/fb. That’s crazy. Basically one out of every four flyballs he gives up are leaving the yard!
yeah, totally brutal too
I need 2 of these bleh streamers for h2h lg with QS no wins k/9
Shane Smith @MIN
Flaherty vsCHW
Cameron vsMIN
Flaherty
Streamer (or 2?) for tomorrow
Nestor (BAL)
Springs (@STL)
Bergert (LAA)
Liberatore (ATH)
Bergert
I’m dubious about Pasquatino (was recent performance just a short-term hot streak?). Drop one: Montgomery; Noelvi; Pasquatino.
Marte
Who’s the drop – Pasquatino; Noelvi; Colson Montgomery? I’m most unsure if Pasquatino is just a short-term hot streak?
Marte
Also I need a RP to replace Adam:
Henriquez
Jansen
Santana
Saalfrank
Treinen
Ashby
Keller (cubs)
H2H points. Saves 5pts Holds 3
Jansen
Severino @Cards, Lorenzen Vs Angels
Meh, I guess Severino
Severino or Lorenz tonight ? H2H points
Neither? I don’t know who they face
Hunting saves for next week. Armstrong seems to have a tighter grip on the role than does Saalfrank who has two holds this past week. But schedule seems better for Saal even if on the road.
Armstrong 3 games vs Brewers and 3 at Mets while Saal has 3at SF and 3 at Twins.
Worth the risk to grab one if losses, HR allowed, ratios matter?
Sounds fine
Preference between the two or jump ball?
Wrong sport…
Saalfrank, coin flip
@Grey: weekly roto redraft. would you drop mis for any of these guys? tolle, l garcia, taj, will warren or verlander?
thanks!
Warren
Grey,
Need some advice. 7 category hitting. Yahoo
Going to have to sit one, who would you choose?
E Suarez @ TB Rasmussen. Life time 9 @ bats 1 single 5K .111 AVG and OBP
V Gurrero @ Cincy Lodolo. Never faced but since coming off being hurt 3 for last 27
W Adames @ Colorado K Freeland Lefty. Adames is .197 avg v lefty. 18 @bats v Freeland, 2 singles, 1 HR 5K .167 avg.
Suarez unless facing a strong lefty, I never sit him, but he has been awful vs Rasmussen.
Vlad, seems like something still isn’t right since he came back from being injured.
Adames, has been on fire, but really sucks vs Lefties. But they could run Freeland early and get to the bullpen and he could feast. Plus, last time he did face Freeland, he did take him deep.
Thanks for your input
Eugenio
Thank you
No problem
Grey
Who do you like the ROS and next season better
Christian Javier or Bello
Thanks
Bello
After Tayler Ward broke his face I picked up Willie Adames for end of season playoffs, push. Makes sense right? Exciting time of the year.
Yup
1. How would you rank Jer.Jackson, J.Wilson, O’Hearn, for the next couple of weeks? O’Hearn is cooling off but he does have a Coors visit coming.
2. Which 3 closers would you pick from among Akin, Armstrong, Ferrer, Pagan, Saalfrank, Scott?
1. jackson, O’Hearn 2. Pagan, Saalfrank, Ferrer
was thinking about something this morning. how many closers can you think of off hand that you’ll want to draft next year? gonna be the weirdest year for closer drafts ever.
Aroldis is gonna go top 3, lol…Suarez, Munoz, Hader, Uribe, Duran, Diaz, Jansen (somewhere) off top of head
duran is the only guy on that list that doesn’t give paws
The guy cursed by the Philly pen? You don’t believe in curses?
you’re right. they’re all terrible and those are the BEST options
i’ve been watching munoz fade. velo down a bit, command getting wonky
Haha, I know and I forgot Miller, then thought again and was like, wait is he gonna close?
Looking at claiming Tolle, he’s @ARI this week. Would you drop Brady Singer vs. NYM or Verlander @STL?
Thanks!
Singer
One more Q for today (line-up day). 12-team 5×5 redraft league with weekly lineups.
Just traded away Suarez and Fairbanks for improving my hitters. I have
Santana (3vLAD, 3vMIL)
Walker (2@COL, 3@STL, 1vATL)
Armstrong (2@AZ, 3vHOU, 1vMIL)
Ferrer (2vMIA, 3@CHC, 1@MIA)
Thaks again.
1. Walker, Santana, Ferrer 2. Assad 3. “Alex Cora said the Red Sox aren’t sure if Payton Tolle will start again Wednesday.
(Tolle isn’t used to pitching on the “regular” four days of rest, so waiting till Friday in Phoenix might behoove them.)
Cora said they’ll have to talk about who will start Wednesday.”
Many thanks. So Assad (vWAS), Messick (@TB) then Tolle (@AZ) is right ranking, or should Tolle be higher?
they’re all risky…I’d prolly go Assad, Tolle, but same diff
Blaze or Jeremiah Jackson?
Jackson
Need to grab a streamer for tomorrow in a 12t h2h cat. league.
Zebby vs CHW
Springs @ STL
Bergent vs LAA
Cortes vs BAL.
Thank you

Gold Recap Grey!
(This post was billed, in my mind as “Grey mentions 3 of my frustrations this year, drafted too high, in Wyatt / Elly / Merrill *Merrill = Super Grrr” )
Hey Grey, any thoughts as to Tong on Friday in Cinci?
Cheers.
Haha, yup! I’d start Tong, looks great
Thanks! Have a good one.
No problem
would you drop E. Perez or Sheehan for Tolle? Would you drop both for Bradish and Tolle?
Thanks!
Sheehan for Tolle
Hi Grey,
Hard to believe- only 28 days.
I have to watch my innings.
I have both Framber Valdez and Fried who are starting against each other. I was still starting both. Do you agree?
Considering my inning situation ( I have only 144 innings left), would you start Yu Darvish at home vs Baltimore?
Thanks!!
Start both
I would not start Darvish
Thank you!!
No problem
Would you add Sandy Alacantra?
Sure
First week of two week playoff matchup. K/9, QS, K league, starting both Fried and Framber tonight in Houston, right?
Yes
And in playoffs I have to be playing against Devers in h/h points …..it’s September can’t it SNOW there in Denver the next 2 days ?
Haha
Hey Grey,
I have both EdCab and Shelby on my team (oh and Adam for the lion’s share of the season but recently dropped him) – I just know how to pick em! Anyone else who you want to explode, just let me know, and I’ll take care of it.
A. How do you rank in H2H points league (Ks are -1): Vaughn, Adell, Colson, Grisham, Wood, Matos, Baldwin, Sheets
(Only including Wood in there because of the urgency of winning Week 1 of the playoffs – gotta make moves to win)
B. How do you rank:
Zebby vs CWS
Morales @LAA
Bergert vs LAA
Soriano vs ATH
Waldrep vs SEA
Seymour vs CLE
Thanks!
Haha, please stop exploding my pitchers…A. Adell, Colson, Grisham, Wood B. Soriano, Zebby, Waldrep, Morales
Qwik follow: Start Framber @ home vs Yanks/Fried tonight? Wins & ratios about equally important.
NYY .343 wOBA (# 1 MLB) vs LHP/road. Framber L30 5.64 / 1.52. Bench seems a no-brainer?
Start Framber
Much obliged!
No problem
Blaze or Gelof ROS? (All hitting stats in play here…)
Can throw Ha-Seong Kim in there, as well…
He’s on IL
Was just activated by ATL this morning… so assuming he’s playing, Kim or Blaze?
Oh, meh, Blaze
Blaze
Thx Grey!
No problem
Sorry – messed up an earlier question. Please rank the following SPs for this week (5×5 weekly redraft):
Assad (vWAS)
Messick (@TB)
L Garcia (@TEX)
Thank you.
You did
I’m doing my best to stop a team behind me from overtaking me in a season-long league. That said, I think I’ve had some bad luck. Final month, are these good strategies? I’ve been doing these, and my team is scuffling.
1. Use the Razzball Hitter and Pitcher ratings and put in pitchers with high $ amounts in the lineup.
2. Make hitting adds using the Razzball hitter tron for next seven days and see who should do well.
I ask this because there have been a few instances where high $ really struggled as of late….but I get that it’s impossible to get everything right so it’s not a criticism of the system.
Just wanted to make sure I’m doing what should be done, unless you have other strategies for down the stretch and if these “rules” are off the table this late in the season.
Thanks as always.
1. yes 2. yes…sounds like you’re doing things right, sometimes you just hit some rough luck
I used to get mad when the Pirates would trade guys for a bag of peanuts. Now I just want the freaking bag of peanuts.
And speaking of the 30 catchers on the Cards, drop Willson for Ivan? The ol’ St Louis Switcheroo?
Maybe…peanut allergies?
I’d go Ivan
I dunno, they seemed to love peanuts before. Now they’re just giving players away. They’re finding new ways to make it impossible to root for that team. Sigh
Haha, peanuts is their form payment
Please Rank for U slot: Durbin, Polanco, Ramos, Steer.
Durbin, Ramos, Polanco
Drop ice-cold Xavier Edwards for Blaze Alexander? Runs scored most important, followed (significantly) by AVG.
What’s ur sense of Sheehan’s role in LAD rotation? Methinks there’s a shot he goes to the pen as a bulk guy. I dropped him for Seymour, who lines up for CLE & CHW.
If Sheehan gets a weekend start vs. BAL, do I jump back in thinking he’ll start RoS? K’s don’t matter. Thanks!
Yes
I’d guess Dodgers go to a 6-man and Sheehan gets about 15 more innings this year, whether that’s as starter or reliever I’m not sure
Thanks, Grey. Winding down, I’m already missing our in-season consults!
Haha, I know
Hey Grey!
Hope you have a great weekend!
10TM H2H
who would you NOT play today for OF:
1) Suzuki vs ATL (Wentz)
2) Yordon Alvarez vs NYY (Fried)
3) Wood vs MIA (Mazur)
4) Arozarena @TB (Rassmussen)
Also, would you start Rasmussen today vs SEA
Yes
Yordan
Thank you!!
No problem
-1. Oneil Cruz, Story or Neto for the ROS?
-2. I have 5 OF and need to get down to 4…who is the drop (Both for ROS and next year keepers)? : Y. Alvarez, Wood, Tucker, Chourio, Arozarena.
-3. Would you drop Misiorowski, E. Perez, or Sheehan to bring Tong off of NA?
-4. Would you drop any of Miz, Perez, Sheehan, Boyd or Abbot for Bradish or Messick?
-5. Ben Rice or S. Perez ROS at catcher?
Much thanks!
1. Neto 2. Yordan 3. Misi 4. Sheehan for Bradish 5. Perez
Got beat in the playoffs Sunday, so it is with regret and a large measure of relief that I get to shut down my baseball brain for the season. My infield was basically all bad or hurt, Vientos, Westburg, Tovar, Burger, Casas. And WTF Duran?
Made the playoffs as always due to the good pitching advice, Woo, Gore (until the end), Luzardo (mostly!).
Anyway, thank you for the work this year. Your writing is consistently hilarious, and, at its best, joyful about the game we all love. Thank you and have a wonderful offseason with Ted and Cougs!!!
Damn, that sucks…You’re welcome! Appreciate you!
When does Lawler get his first mlb hit? 0/30 with 15 strikeouts is not a the ideal way to launch the career. starting to genuinely feel bad for the guy.
He’s due?
2023
Thank you to the Cardinals for sending Sonny back out for the 7th inning after 6 terrible innings. They were still in the game 5-2. I guess 6 innings 5 ER 8 hits a few walks wasn’t bad enough because his pitch count was still low. So instead of a bad start it turned into a terrible one. Serves me right for starting him.
Ha, I know, I saw, he was at like 80 pitches and I knew he was going back out to get hit
Good morning and happy playoffs! Lourdes hurt… Jeremiah Jackson, Royce, Luis matos, and Scott available. 6 teams left in playoffs h2h. Which one should I pick up?
Thank you!
Jackson
Before you answers, I looked at matchups… Baltimore is at SD and LAD whereas Minnesota is at home vs white Sox and away at KC. Make a difference in your answer?
Royce sounds better there
I don’t know who scott is btw
wanna say tanner but that makes no sense with info you’ve given me
could it be scott kingery? i doubt it
Christian Scott, is he still a thing?
Now i know scott brosius isn’t a thing
I’m thinking he meant Stott
oops didn’t see below
Mike Scott…start him with confidence.
Always!
Scott brocious!!! I wish! I meant stott
Not Stott
Sad that Victor is not even a consideration.
Ha…his last name is III
Please rank the following SPs (5×5 weekly redraft):

Assad (vWAS)
Thanks.
Morales, Schlittler, Assad, Messick
Trade for ROS…
Side A: Trea Turner
Side B: Robert Suarez and Oneil Cruz
Which side? Is it close?
Trea, it’s close enough
The bot likes both but would you rather start
Tolle versus Cleveland or
Gallen versus Texas
Tolle
Teng, Te-Teng, Teng, Teng…meng!
Better!
So picking up Ober for a spot start vs. the Sux didn’t work out so well. Done with him! I did get Tong off waivers for him at least.
Yeah, Ober sucks
I thought even he could do okay against the Sux, but clearly I was wrong. Lol
Haha

Gunnar is so wildly disappointing…Wow on Merrill, ouch…This is great stuff, Vin!
I don’t stalk him like I should… but Elly got a lot of strikeouts against the Dodgers with his bat on his shoulder last week. Very odd for a free-swinger.
Yeah
Cease has been absolutely infuriating to own this season.
Incredibly brutal
This Aaron Nola owner has no tears for you …
I highly doubt you drafted Nola as your SP1 or 2!
Sonny Gray…
First Half ERA: 3.50
Second Half ERA: 6.44
Total Earned Runs: 78
9 Bad Starts: 53 earned runs, 10.84 ERA
19 Other Starts: 25 earned runs, 1.97 ERA
Just awful
What’s even more frustrating is that he “should” deserve better. I know this doesn’t help or make us feel better. It actually upsets me more becauise the damage is irreversible. I’m always on the wrong side of the equation.
Fip: 3.48
xFip: 3.12
Siera: 3.30
Era: 4.43
Yeah, I hear that…He’s really been unlucky but also it’s hard to defend him
Grey!!!!
Awesome!!
Rodney Dangerfield quote of the day for September 2, 2025
My doctor said I needed to exercise in the right climate, then he told me I have to run to Arizona.
Cheers,
Ante
I wonder where they were to begin with.

Thanks!
Am I crazy to drop Taylor Ward for Gallen. Would Bohm or Pasquatch be preferable? Or fuhgedaboutit?
I’d prefer to drop Bohm if bench bat, but not crazy to drop Ward at this point
The Pittsburgh Pirates, man. They didn’t trade that same reliever who now has 16 straight appearances without allowing a hit. He has a 1.00 ERA for the season. You’re telling me they couldn’t have gotten anything for a left-handed reliever with closing experience last year?
Yeah, exactly
A. Please pick one. Monday starts semi- finals and both below are slated to start Monday.
1. Bergert at Guardians/L Allen
2. Quintana at Rangers/undetermined
3. Pass on both
B. I have both Sheehan and Kershaw. Do you think Sheehan starts Sunday in Balt instead of Kershaw? Clayton seems to like the six man rotation which would push him to Monday vs Rocks. I hate this change back to five man this week. I had Sheehan and Kershaw slated to go Mon/Tues and now am guessing. Might drop Sheehan for Armstrong to help my pen but if Sheehan starts vs Ricks Monday it would be a blow.
A. Bergert B. Dodgers have said Sheehan’s not starting this week, that’s all I have to go on
Frustrating to line this up during my bye week and have both miss the Rockies. Nothing easy.
I hear ya, it sucks
Albies or Durbin? Obp + std cats & base cats
Grisham or Happ?
Actually – Scratch all of that. Rank these 2B options ROS:
Gelof, Albies, Durbin
Durbin, Gelof
Grisham
Durbin
