Could Reynaldo Lopez (5 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 2.05) actually be in the NL Cy convo? Comatose Braves Fan, “Reynaldo Lopez is in the running for the NL Cy? Plus Fried?! Right?!” Comatose Braves Fan, hold on– “–No! I won’t hold on! Plus, Acuña for MVP! Or is it Albies? Plus–” Yes, Riley too, now go back to sleep. Wait until he hears Marcell Ozuna (1-for-3) hit his 37th homer yesterday. “And Ozuna’s on pace for 50 homers?! With Olson, I’m assuming! Right? Tell me I’m right!” [rips IV from arm] “Tell me I’m right!” No, not a lot has gone right for the Braves this year, but Reynaldo Lopez went about as right as he could’ve. Do the underlying numbers back this up? No, not at all. Not even a little. I was surprised at how shrug-worthy Reynaldo’s peripherals were — 9.2 K/9, 3.1 BB/9, 38% GB%, goofy low homers allowed. Weak contact has made it all work, but to answer you, the person who is holding him in your keeper, he is not pitching like a barely 2 ERA pitcher. “But Spencer Strider is, right? Tell me I’m right!” Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Gio Urshela – 0-for-3, 1 RBI as he was signed by the Braves to play 3rd. Thinking back to how much I liked him after his 21-homer 2019 season. [wavy lines]….Ah, it’s March 2020 and–hey, how come I have no memories from now until 2021?…[wavy lines] Hunh, that was weird. Any hoo! Urshela has solid contact and nothing else. An NL-Only play, at best.
Jeimer Candelario – Placed on the IL with a toe fracture. [Jeimer mistakes a medicine ball for a soccer ball] “Hey, look at me, I’m Messi! ….God damn it!” This prolly helps Noelvi continue to get ABs, even with the addition of Amed Rosario, but, as I said the other day, I’d go Amed over Marte if I were them, and send Marte down to get help on his swing.
Carson Spiers – 4 1/3 IP, 9 ER, ERA at 5.43. Hey, you mind if I leave my grape soda here while I go to the bathroom in this al Qaeda-run bar? Cool! [four hours later]…Boy, I must’ve fell asleep. Hey, why is that guy weighing my spleen? AHHHH!!! Roofie!!!
George Springer – 2-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 15th and 16th homer, hitting .222. Also, in this game, Spencer Horwitz (1-for-4) hit his 7th homer; Leo Jimenez (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) hit his 3rd homer and Alejandro Kirk (1-for-3) hit his 4th homer. It was a good day for the “Those guys are terrible for fantasy” guys.
Jose Berrios – 7 IP, 2 ER, 8 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.79. Jays jumped out to a huge lead and Berrios coasted out to the Ivictory Coast for a free night at the W.
Eduardo Rodriguez – 5 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.94. He could wake after a 18-month nap Van Winkle-style and pitch 5+ innings.
Corbin Carroll – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 14th homer. The power in the 2nd half is nice. I’d be a lot less concerned if he had a few three-steal games.
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. – 1-for-3 and his 15th homer. Lu-Gu-Ju usually gets scalding hot when he gets a homer, so prepare for a schmotato run.
Edward Cabrera – 6 IP, 3 ER, 7 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 5.65. Watched most of this game (for Ed-Rod, but still), and I don’t know what happened with EdCab, but he looks pretty meh. EdRod looked better than EdCab. Sounds like a proverb. Spare me EdCab for the EdRod.
Frankie Montas – 7 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 1 walk, 3 Ks, ERA at 4.57. Everyone talks about how the Rays coach up pitchers, but the Brewers take just as many Just A Guy guys and turn them into wonderful.
Jose Quintana – 5 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 4.57. Ow, why do I feel so hurt? Five seconds earlier, “Streaming Quintana nonstop for three months can’t hurt me!”
J.D. Martinez – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 14th homer, and 2nd homer in as many games. Just Dong because everything else is Just Don’t.
Zach Eflin – Hit the IL with shoulder inflammation. Wait, an ex-Rays pitcher who they traded is now injured? Hmm, can’t be related. Albert Suarez went from the O’s 6th starter to their number two. Though, taking Eflin’s spot will be Cade Povich. Someone should sit Maury on stage and surprise him with a paternity test for Cade. Never the hoo! I wouldn’t trust Povich.
Anthony Santander – 1-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 37th homer, hitting .239. I don’t know it for a fact but he seems to have more games of an 1-for-4 or 1-for-5 with a homer than anyone else.
Dean Kremer – 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 4.30. Know what’s funny in a non-funny way? When you have as many teams as me, you have one team streaming Quintana and that sucked, but you have another team streaming Kremer. Everywhere I look, I made the right move! (Except the places I made the wrong move.)
Hector Neris – DFA’d by the Cubs. Celine Dion’s fantasy team, “Neris/Faris, Wherever You Areis,” takes another brutal hit. She’s never going to dig herself out of last place in saves. She might be smart to pick up Porter Hodge (1 IP, 0 ER, and his 2nd save yesterday) or hedge Hodge with Jorge Lopez.
Javier Assad – 5 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.11. 2nd game over five innings thrown since June 23rd. If you want Assad to go deep, you end up saying, “I sad.”
Joey Gallo – Activated from the IL. Yepez haz stoppez hitting a bit, but playing Gallo over Yepez is a fireable offense. Though, I’m not sure Davey Martinez will ever be fired. He seems to have carte blanche after the World Series win. Five years ago!
Angel Chivilli – 1 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 4.70, as he got the Rockies save because Victor Vodnik has shoulder soreness. If you have above your fantasy team a sign that says, “God Bless This Mess,” then grab Chivilli. Otherwise, no, are you crazy?
Tyler Mahle – Hit the IL with shoulder soreness. If you get a call from a number that’s not in your contacts, make sure you pick it up, it could be an MLB team looking for you to give them a few innings.
Cody Bradford – 7 IP, 3 ER, 5 hits, zero walks, 8 Ks, ERA at 3.56. My sleeper monocle is on my eye and it’s starting to fog.
Mitch Keller – 7 IP, 0 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 9 Ks, ERA at 3.76. No one I know goes out there and gives up 15 ER in his previous 9 IP, then looks lights-out quite like Keller.
Edwin Uceta – 1 1/3 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 0.90. Whoa, impressive. Okay, the Rays’ new closer is Uceta and forgetta.
Shane Baz – 7 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.48. A’ss are far from a pushover in home games. They’re more middle-of-the-pack-ish. But Shane Baz dazzled. He Bazzled. His underlying numbers are pretty meh (4 Ks in almost 8 IP?), but it’s still a small sample.
Joey Estes – 7 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.44. It’s embarrassing how I was bidding on all A’ss starters this past Sunday in FAAB. Streamonator doesn’t love him, but the Rays just don’t scare me.
Patrick Bailey – Hit the IL. Luckily the Giants have Joey Bart–Oh wait.
Robbie Ray – 6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 9 Ks, ERA at 4.88. Such an easy matchup of Shite Sux at home, but hopefully Ray carries this into his next start like he carries his tight-ass pants.
Ryan Jeffers – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 20th homer, and third homer in four games. Random prediction alert! He will be basically free in all drafts next year, as if he’s not a no-brainer top 7-ish catcher.
Ha-Seong Kim – Hit the IL with shoulder inflammation. MRI revealed no structural damage. MRI did reveal its crush on the CT scan. Cute stuff.
Jurickson Profar – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 20th homer, hitting .290. Someone should ask him, “Do you know this is your career season even as it’s happening?”
Manny Machado – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 20th homer. Elias Sports Bureau heard Profar and Machado both hit their 20th on August 20th and said, “This is the first time that’s happened, we think. Jim spilled a Fanta on our computer.”
Walker Buehler – 4 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 6.09. For his next start, he will be pitching with Dustin May’s elbow tendon.
Max Muncy – 1-for-2, 2 runs and his 11th homer, 2nd homer in two games since his IL return. Max is the Munciest!
Gavin Lux – 1-for-4 and his 10th homer, and 2nd homer in two games. Keep telling you he’s hot, going back a month and you keep waiting for something.
Matthew Boyd – 5 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 3.38. An incredible whatever start. Colin Rea has pitched better for the last four months. No one cares about Rea. Boyd though? People love Boyd with wildly mediocre results.
Brayan Rocchio – 3-for-5 and a slam (6) and legs (9). Most random slam & legs of the week goes to….Still Adrian Del Castillo.
Luis Gil – 3 IP, 3 ER, 3 hits, 6 BBs, 3 Ks, ERA at 3.39, and left with back soreness. Out there pitching like he should’ve been shut down in June. Very nice. I’m sure this won’t have long-term consequences for his arm.
Aaron Judge – 2-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 45th homer. He’s on pace for 58 homers. Is that good?
Juan Soto – 1-for-5 and his 35th homer. He’s on pace for a $500 million dollar contract. Is that good?
Johnny Cueto – Angels brought him back to. Dot dot dot. Pitch? I have no idea. Tend to their horses? True story, I went to look to see what Cueto was doing in the minors, and I found a clip of Urshela homering off him. Welcome back, guys! Glad to see minor league teams are giving their prospects a chance to play.
Tyler Anderson – 6 IP, 5 ER, 14 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 3.46. You can look at the Streamonator for him, but it’s also nearing the end of August and his ERA is better than your entire fantasy team’s, and I still wouldn’t trust him.
Zach Neto – 2-for-5, 2 runs and his 19th homer, and 2nd homer in as many games. Mentioned yesterday how he’s been roughly as valuable as Corey Seager. Now prolly more valuable. (Player Rater updates after midnight when I’m night-night God bless.)
Yainer Diaz – 2-for-4 and his 15th homer, 2nd homer in two games, third homer in three games, and the top catcher of the last month. Also about to pass Adley Rutschman on the Player Rater for season-long. Oh, and you dropped Yainer in April so ignore this.
Ronel Blanco – 3 2/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.14 vs. Nick Pivetta – 5 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 4.70. This matchup was billed as, “Glad it’s Blanco/Pivetta and not Banco de Pivetta because I’d be freakin’ broke right now.”
Jarren Duran – 4-for-4, 3 runs, 2 RBIs and his 17th homer, 2nd homer in two games. Can I draft Duran for 2025 already?
Triston Casas – 2-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 7th homer. Love Casas. Singing Our House by Madness right now I love him so much. I’m so happy that it looks like whatever was bothering him earlier this year is not bothering him since he returned. It’s a beautiful thing.
Dominic Smith – Released by the Red Sox. Mets should bring him home. Dress him up as Grimace and plant his ass on the bench. Then, “Oh no, looks like Alonso tweaked something. Oh wow, Keith, with the pitch clock, there was no time to change, and here comes Dom Smith up to bat as Grimace. Imagine he’ll be sitting slider.”
Boyd or Cortes ROS?
been reading a bunch of s.king stuff i hadn’t prior, some of it very old (carrie, firestarter, and i’m noticing just how often s.king uses telekinesis (esp in young people) or some x-men like super power, it works quite well for deux ex machina action in the writing, and not just these 2 books (which are noted by many to be 2 sides of the same tale really))
anywhoo, all that to say, t.gordon COL might watch out for bears coming to get him, esp if they have bees coming out of their mouths. and i really don’t think his pitching skills are strong enough to survive it.
and he won’t have likely any 8 year old girls believing in him, not at all.
One of my favorites is Salems Lot. Felt grounded. Could be nostalgia.
yep, just read that one like just over a year ago, never had even though i’ve been big into king at differing time periods since i was like 10. if you haven’t get the uncut version, it’s got extra left out chapters/sections, and some of it is better. it’s not a lot longer though.
yep, and salem’s lot too, not super powers, but that kid is made out to be a good bit more heroic than almost any kid would’ve been in real life. smarter than most too at that age.
also if you hadn’t the related stuff to salem’s lot (all of it is in the uncut salem’s lot version): jerusalem’s lot (a prequel, short story), and from one of his short story collections: one for the road from night shift (occurs some time after salem’s lot and is very short).
the uncut version i’m talking about isn’t called that, it’s called the illustrated version (the PDF can be found for free quite easily).
I wish I could tell you that Cantillo fought the good fight, and Judge let him be. I wish I could tell you that – but MLB is no fairy-tale world. He never said who did it, but we all knew. Things went on like that for awhile – MLB life consists of routine, and then more routine. Every so often, Cantillo would show up with fresh bruises. Judge kept at him – sometimes he was able to fight ’em off, sometimes not.
Ha, yeah, he didn’t stand a chance
4 of Judge’s last 8 hits were HR.
8 of Soto’s last 9 hits were HR.
So insane
Make it 5 of Judge’s last 9 hits were HR. They just keep throwing at him and bases empty. 3-2 count let him try and chase out of zone. Nawww give him something hittable.
woah, accidental back to back s.king relevant posts here
Hahaha yup. I never read that one though.
shawshank, yep. i read your post right after inputting my tom gordon related one above. different seasons kicks ass (4 novellas, 3/4 of which are now well known movies), read that first time when i was like 12-13 or so. shawshank, the body (stand by me the movie), apt pupil, and the last one the only without a movie, the breathing method.
Hey Grey, hope all is well. Who is the play for ROS, Call, Polanco, Nate Lowe? I am hoping you do not say, “none.”
Gow deep league? That seems really rough even for 18 teamer.
14 team. I should have added Ernie Clement to that list.
Points? Categories? Each one has diff position.
Cat. Yeah…just looking for the occasional start. I have a few multi positional players so no real specific need there.
I’d go Clement
Not call
Thanks for taking the time to decipher that.
No problem
is this your UT spot?
More often than not a bench spot, but it is a very competitive league. We’ve been doing this for almost 25 years.
I mean….hot hand of the week? Polanco is pretty trash and Lowe doesnt add much.Clement has been kinda hot. I usually have a steals guy or HR guy to try and help on my bench. Hard to be helpful
Yeah…I appreciate the chat. None of them are a difference makers for sure. I have Lowe now. Call and Polanco are the leading FA’s, statistically, in this league for the last month…and Clement’s been sorta hot. Just trying to upgrade, possibly.
To be fair, until you pointed out last 30 I didnt realize Polanco was pretty decent. Last time I looked was ASB and he had like 5 HR and a .200 or sub .200 BA. I see .278 and 6 HR last 30 which aint too bad at all.
yeah polanco’s last 15-20ish days OPS is quite solid. not saying that’s likely to entail longer though.
For sure.
It was surprising for me also. I started keeping an eye on him about a week ago.
Call
Hey! Batty call for today…Muncy batting towards end of lineup against Seattle (Logan Gilbert) or Busch batting second v Det (some random pitcher)?
Feels like Busch is the answer even though Muncy popped a homer every game back so far?
If this helps you or just muddies the waters IDK
Busch
I got offered Burger + Tucker for Burnes + 2nd rounder. Dynasty 18 teamer.
Tucker
Firing up accept button.
Get your popcorn ready for some breaking news: Nolan Gorman to the minors. Ouch!
Prolly about 18 months overdue
The prophecy of the popcorn was false!
Haha
They waited until Edman was off the IL.
True
I echo what you said about Casas. Prior to the 3 rbi day, he had 6 hr and 10 rbi on the season. That is so depressing. Speaking of depressing, I guess I can finally let go of Goldy who I held on to way too long. It sucks to say that.
Yeah, he’s done (Goldy)
Nice start from Manaea today. Got sent back out for the 8th for no reason and cost him an extra run.
Need best streamer out of
Civale (@OAK)
Abbott (@PIT)
Sanchez (@ATL)
Montero (@CHW)
Meyer (CHC)
Yeah, looked good….These all stink, I guess Keider
Thanks. I’ll probably hold off until the weekend for my last streamer then
No problem
When you are relieved that Pirates dont have a lead to blow…..and then still call on Bednar in 9th to blowup your ratios.
Bednar looks as bad as anyone the last few months
I got him in a thrift sale and still regretting the trash I gave up him. Was hoping for maybe a save a week. Now im picking up some clown in COL with Vodnik hurt.
Don’t do it to yourself the saves aren’t worth it
WellllllI have Alexis Diaz as only saves guy left, and best part is him coming in the 7th in a 13-0 loss to….ah…..hmmmmm…..yeah idk either. One guy in this league has a 50 save advantage from #2 and dang near 100 over me and im #7. 18 teamer and guy has top 5 closers and 3-4 ho hum and tries to win SV,K, WHIP, ERA and dump QS and H. Tried to pry a crappy closer like Foley from him and got psychotic pitbull vibes. I think you got SV locked down fella, relax.
Haha, yup
Stream Bassit hound vs the Angles tomorrow?
Sure
Dont be obtuse. *dad joke laugh button*
Haha
Pretty sure the Sir Anthony closing for the O’s era just ended. Right? Please have me be right.
Just saw someone else already came here to gasp about it. Hayyyseusss
Let us ask the expert Aaron Boone!
If fairness, the yanks aren’t using everyone but their best RP
You wouldnt give Weaver a shot? I thought Leiter was having a better year but man he is bad.
Yeah, haha…absolutely…but they’re not trying anyone unlike the O’s who try everyone, know who is the best and ignore that ha
OOOOH I gotcha now.
orioles i get they had no need for a.hays, but why send down k.akin or a 2nd guy (i forget now, another RP they sent down in the last monthish or so, also better all year than him), who’s been better all year than seraanthony anyway just to get him?
Please be right
I’m not sticking around to find out!
Haha
I swear baseball is getting dumber. German struggling to throw strikes. 2 walks in 9 pitches. No outs. Taveras attempts bunt, fouls it because BALL imagine that. Fouls nexy bunt attempt. Hacks out ankle ball. No biggie. Two on, 1 out. Lets work the count…..naw first pitch hack by Semien into DP. German has 2 hits allowed, but 4 walks. Guy has thrown 64 pitches in 5.1 IP so far. 19 pitches on his four walks. He has faced 20 batters. Removing the 4 walks, the other 16 are averaging 2.8 pitches an AB. This prime Randy Johnson or something? Naw just trash hitting and no gameplan.
Hahaha, yup
Grey, Dynasty…got offered EDLC for Julio + Ozzie. What say you?
Seems fair, could screw you long term
Id try to get Ozzie out for something slightly less there if you can. I still would I think.
Oh dear, Seranthony. Another outing, another run allowed (3 in a row), another loss (2 in a row). He may be a Ser but he’s not being very chivalrous.
Still holding? Or think the Os try Cano again?
I wouldn’t roster Dominguez unless I was desperate
Grey, would you trade Merrill for Duran BOS in a dynasty league?
Sure
This is Dreamcrusher. He protects me from having unrealistic goals
HA
Funny way of spelling Domingo German. *clicks add*
Hahaha
Grey,
lost Eflin as the playoffs are starting next week.
Of the following, who would you add
Bowden Francis
Cody Bradford
Eduardo Rodriquez
David Peterson
Rine Nelson
10 team yahoo league, 7 category on arms
W
L
CG
ERA
WHIP
K
SAVE
As always, thank you for your time!
I’d look at their matchups
ty
No problem
I would stream so hard with those options. I bet a guy like Heaney is available too.
good point, ty
Shay Whitcomb’s peripherals are looking kind of nice after 5 games. Anything to see here in standard leagues or is he getting sent down as soon as Bregman is healthy again?
Astros 3B next year?
what looks nice? He looks like a .215 hitter
Good chase rate, good swinging strike rate, and hits the ball hard. Went 25/26 in AAA after 108 games and struck out less than 20% of the time. Thought the emerging numbers looked good albeit in a small sample size.
13 AB is such a tiny sample size. Half his hits came against CWS, probably Flexen.
A double against Flexen, a single against Varland, a single against Chris Martin, and a double against Pivetta. And 3 walks. Small sample size, yes.
Ha, those pitchers you mentioned
I think the AAA numbers are more compelling than MLB thus far. I liked those numbers you threw at me.
Bregman just hit a HR so IDK what the future holds for Whitcomb.
Yeah, he could be ok, but the contact is bad so far, and why did the Astros not find room for him earlier?
Because Tucker will be back any day now
…..any day now
…..any day
Any day now
Grey,
I know R. Lewis has done nothing but hit. Do you have any concerns on him in dynasty? It sounds crazy, and yeah injuries, but could there come a point where the league figures him out?
Every scouting report had 40-50 hit tool and 50-60 power.
Guy only had 425 AB for career (!!!) but has more HR with 1000 fewer AB than he did in minors. (not counting this year and last year rehab HR)
I have someone dangling him in front of me and fishing for offers and cant tell if I should pony up or wait until offseason (in dynasty).
Someone I never bought into and now trying to convince myself.
Think he’s the type that could stay healthy and be a top 20 player, so worth the price of a lottery ticket
as long as that’s the price
Yeah the price is a bit too high I think. Wants a top 100 player but really means top 50. I would throw a Baz + Keller at him or a Baz + Happ (IDK if too much) but have feeling he wants a Bibee or Naylor or Painter + Mayo.
That sounds like too much
Points league- Michael Busch or Isaac Parades?
Busch
Not much to get excited about but ROS who do you like between Springer and Soler?
Soler
Because I’m a weirdo, I watched some of the Rockies and Nationals last night. All I came away with was thinking DJ Herz sounds like a character in an educational cartoon about electricity.
HAHA, excellent
Nemesis of Static Shock.
Played by Fat Damon
Hey Grey,
ROS
Bell or Torkelson
India or Tovar
Thanks!
Bell
Tovar
Best 2 starts out of these options. Must win week and need to take Ks, QS, and Ws in h2h over this guy
Yariel (CIN)
Heaney (PIT)
Civale (@OAK)
Sears (MIL)
Abbott (@PIT)
Yariel, Sears
Whoops Sears got snagged
Heaney
Please rank all for ROS: Bradley, Pfaadt, Francis, Kershaw, Suarez (Balt.), Bradford
Thank you!!
Kershaw, Bradford, Bowden, Taj, these are so matchups dependent
Starting any of Gilbert (at LAD), Nola (at ATL), or Fried (home vs PHI) in a 12 team league? All kind of scare me. Thanks!
They don’t sound good, but I’d start Gilbert and Nola anywhere
Hey Grey, shallow 5×5 league questions, can you please rank these guys moving forward?
1) In a vacuum, though the 1 category I do not need help in is SBs…J Lowe, Yoshida, W Castro, Torkelson
2) I’m guessing matchup dependent, but in a vacuum pls rank…Gavin Stone, Arrighetti, Kutter, K Harrison, Festa
1. Yoshida 2. Arrighetti, Stone, Kutter
10 team H2H.
Turang got dropped in my league, would you pick him up and drop one off Hoerner or Willi Castro?
Pick up Toglia and drop Paredes?
Over Castro
Yes, Toglia
How confident are we that Cody Bradford sticks in the Rangers rotation ROS? Figure DeGrom (lol) and Scherzer are back at some point, but Mahle is hurt and Gray is coming back as a reliever
Seems like a starter until further notice
1. H2H Would you replace Cowser and/or Stanton with one of: J.Lowe, Just Dong, Nolan Jones, Laureano, or Tork?
2. Who are your top 2 2B ROS from among: Edman, Jung, Norby, Rodgers?
1. Stanton with Lowe if I needed SB, Laureano for a hot bat 2. That order
Grey- Erceg or Uceta over either roller coaster ride of Alexis Diaz or Clay Holmes or hold the latter two? SV only league. Thanks!
Meh, hold
1. Heliot 2. Megill
Hey Grey,
No joke, I just dropped Keller and Ray at the end of last week – do we already have a term for that, i.e. going beyond a sonavabench to a sonavadrop or something like that? I was guessing I’d regret Ray given he was facing the White Sox (had to drop in order to pick up another start for last week and then wasn’t able to get him back) but didn’t think he and Keller would bounce back so well, ugh.
A. How would you rank these starts?
Arrighetti @BAL
Brown @BAL
Festa vs STL
Zebby vs STL
Harrison @SEA
B. If I’m getting back in on Keller, who am I dropping to get him? Arrighetti, Pfaadt, Bowden
Ugh, yeah, I hear ya A. Zebby, Festa, Harrison
B. Pfaadt
Hmm, all three – Zebby, Festa, and Harrison – aren’t on my roster at the moment, and I don’t think I can pick up all of them. I can drop Pfaadt for one, but I think the only other option is Arrighetti. Would you drop both? (other starters are Skubal, Springs, Schwellenbach, Woo, Brown, Bowden who I need to hold for LAA start)
Hold Arrighetti
Hi Grey,
heliot Ramos was dropped in my league (h2h, 12 teams, with OBP).
Shouuld i add him and drop Lawrence Butler?
thanks,
Chris
Yes
No need to hold buehler in a 12 right? Wire has guys like Civale, Morton, Jake Irvin who are not great but won’t continue to torch me quite as bad. WHIP is my biggest need.
Can lose him
12 team, 5×5 roto.
How would you rank these catchers ROS?
Jeffers, Langeliers, Wong
You did
Morning & Happy National Spumoni Day!
Did Eduardo Rodriguez show you enough yesterday to hold onto him or you putting him on ice/ throwing him back into the FA pool (looks like he’ll get the Mets next)?
Still need to activate Pepiot and it’s either ERod, Kyle Harrison, or a bench bat in (Langford/ Caminero) that gets cut.
Also, who you like to close in Chicago; Porter Hodge or Jorge López (yes, I know this is like the tallest midget)?
Thanks as always!
I love spumoni! EdRod looks decent — Harrison
I’d do Hodge now
thank you!
side note, do you think there’s any reason to add Evan Phillips or is he cooked and only getting the rare save chance?
Meh, forget Evan for now
Cortes home vs CLE and Gilbert @ LAD today, both starts for you Grey in a 12 teamer with IP limits ?
Neither?
Has Adell passed both Julio and LuBob in the ROS game plan?
Nah
Hey, hey!
-Pepiot @OAK tonight (22.6)
lurrrrrve!
Seems fine, lurves!
Casas or Caminero as keeper?
Kopech or Domingues ROS? Or keep both and drop Taj? It’s a keeper.
Thanks!
Caminero
Kopech
Drop Stanton for Casas?
Sure
Choose two please for saves? Ercerg, Justin Martinez, Hodge or Uceta?
Martinez, Uceta
Funny how the closer landscape mostly stayed the same all season, and then WHAM! Look at the names that are flying around every week.
Ha, yup
A month ago my bullpen in an SP/SP/SP/RP/RP/P/P league was Suarez, Green, Garcia, Hudson. Today it’s M.Miller (SP/IL activation), Walker (SP/waiver), Kopech (SP/waiver), Clase (trade), Suarez, D.Williams (IL activation), Green and I don’t have a spot for Uceta or Martinez. SAGNOF!
Nimmo
If I may ….nice job by the NYY bullpen once again and with 3 auto outs in lineup Verdugo,LeMahieu,Grisham ……Cashman needs to leave his time has come

little advice in Dynasty
need to drop 1 OF and 1 SP, or more in this list!
but they’ll surely be dropped after the season to activate my IL for 2025 season
Lane Thomas – Cold as Ice since the Cleave-Land move
Riley Greene – 0/18 last 30 days
Cut EdCab, EdRod or Cut Kutt ?
Lane
EdCab
Glad I picked Yainer and Crochett. Both were dropped by same team. Got to love owners who drop players after a 0-8 or give up 6 runs in April.
Pretty crazy to cut the only C who hit 20+ and over .280 in 2023. Only two guys hit over .280 and had double digit HR, him and Contreras.
Joey Bart looking to get there though!
Nice
Which 2 to drop of Friedl, Either Jung, Bell or Polanco? Playoffs are next week.
Jung who, Polanco, Bell
Meant either of the Jung brothers.. capitalizing either didn’t help hah
Does that change anything?
Lose Jace, Polanco
The Spiers outing was the 3rd time this season a starting pitcher gave up 5 home runs:
3143 Kutter Crawford 2024-07-21 @LAD L 6-9
3621 Martin Perez 2024-05-15 @MIL L 2-10
3713 Carson Spiers 2024-08-20 @TOR L 3-10
Crawford is also one of 22 SPs that have given up 4 HRs in a game.
Fitting that Crawford has a seating section at Minute Maid Park, notorious for HR ball consumption, named after him.
hahaha
nice!
Haha, ouch
Grey!!
So amazing, great read, mon!!!
a. Drop Herz to stream/batty
1 MParker @ home Rockies (T. Gordon, 7.00 ERA)
2 MPence @ home Rays (Pepito)
3 Laureano (faces Philly twice, then Washington comes to ATL for 3 games – at least 2 or 3 LHP -, then 3 in Minny and 2 in Philly to close out August)
b. Special Norm MacDonald (RIP) quote of the day for August 21, 2024
Dr James Watts died this week at 90. He’ll be remembered for performing the first frontal lobotomy. If you recall a lobotomy involves drilling holes into the skull and then inserting and rotating a knife to destroy brain cells. What a genius! He’ll be missed.
c. Chris Rock quote of the day for August 21, 2024
The Kardashians are inclusive. And they love black people more than black people love black people.

Thanks! A. Parker B. Haha
Seager hit 2 HRs Monday, so Neto’s good game yesterday just brought him close again. Seager is at 43 ($20.8); Neto is 47th ($20.3). The Player Rater never updated yesterday, but after Sunday’s games Seager was #53 and Neto was #58.
Seager is $9+ more valuable in 4 categories, but Neto makes most of that up in steals.
Wow, crazy close
