“This is 911, what’s your emergency?”
“I need a defibrillator!”
“Someone’s having a heart attack?”
“No, it’s for the dead ball.”
“Please stop calling, sir.”
Tarik Skubal was a victim of being sneezed on by Matthew Boyd, and used to give up a homer just about every three pitches, but no longer. It might not just be the dead-ball, Skubal was a top pitching prospect a mere three years ago. That timing tracks. Usually it’s three years in the majors, and a rookie pitcher becomes what we expect from him. A rookie pitching prospect has moments his rookie year, then he has more moments his 2nd year, then his third year it’s all moments. Tarik Skubal (6 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 11 Ks, ERA at 2.50) is currently living in the moment. 94 MPH fastball, 89 MPH slider, 76 MPH curve and 84 MPH change, each used liberally. Not relying on the fastball as he had in the past, even though you wouldn’t blame someone with a 70-grade fastball. There might be something to his success and the homers allowed thing, but the ball doesn’t seem like it’s being resuscitated any time soon, so Skubal can absolutely maintain his newfound success. Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Austin Meadows – Hit the IL with dizziness from an inner ear infection. Hopefully, it’s not Austin Meniere’s.
Trey Mancini – 1-for-3 and his 3rd homer. Hopefully, he’s Quattro Mancini soon.
Michael Kopech – 6 IP, 3 ER, 5 baserunners (4 BBs), 3 Ks, ERA at 1.54. Not the best he’s looked, but when you hold the Yankees to one hit, no matter how wild you are, it’s gotta be a moral victory. *runs finger along league standings* Hmm, don’t see a Moral Victories category.
Nestor Cortes – 8 IP, 1 ER, 3 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 1.35. Not just the Yankees’ best starter, but making the case for the best pitcher in the majors.
Joey Gallo – 1-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer. Yankees had five runs, and they only had two hits in the game. Very normal stuff going on with the baseball.
Ronald Acuña Jr. – MRI on his groin revealed nothing. *snicker*
Charlie Morton – 6 IP, 1 ER, 3 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 4.93. Overshadowed a bit by an incredible 12-strikeout performance by Sean Manaea, but Morton looks fixed. As I said when he was unfixed, he could fix himself and it looks like it happened. Morton, once again worth his salt.
Dansby Swanson – 1-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 4th homer. For those wondering if they were to quick to get rid of Swanson when he was hitting 9th, he’s near the top 12 for shortstops on the Player Rater, so that’s rosterable in all leagues.
Kyle Wright – 6 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 2.79. Deserved better than the Braves’ defense. I know this because I’ve studied his karmic history. Also, because I saw the game’s highlights. Only highlights though, because the game was on Peacock. Happy for Brad, but I ain’t subscribing to that.
Hyun-Jin Ryu – 4 2/3 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 9.00, as he was activated from the IL. He was on the IL with forearm inflammation, so, not to get too philosophical, but does anyone ever come back from forearm inflammation?
Mauricio Dubon – 0-for-1. Traded to the Astros for Michael Papierski. Trade makes total sense when you think of it as Papierski for Mâché as the Giants and Astros open a joint Etsy shop. Mauricio Dubon was in Friday’s Buy, which shows that A) The Astros read the Buy column. B) They’re a very smart organization. C) There’s no C. My concern here is that Pena’s injury is worse than we think, but maybe Dubon is just a bench bat as he was in San Fran.
Chas McCormick – 1-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and a slam (3) and legs (1), hitting .229. Meh, only been about three times more valuable in one game as Marcus Semien’s been all year.
Jose Altuve – 2-for-5, 2 runs and his 7th homer, hitting .259. Pesky Altuve homered off a Nat. Hmm, that seems ironic.
Yuli Gurriel – 3-for-4 and his 2nd homer, and 2nd homer in the last three games. Anyone who remembers his July, 2019 knows how hot Gurriel can get. Though, that 2019 baseball was wrapped in rubber bands.
Cristian Javier -3 2/3 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 3.20. *pregame, Tigers Woods fist pump* Yes! Javier’s getting the start. *after the game, Tiger Woods’s ex-wife-style golf club swinging into my computer*
Justin Verlander – 5 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 1.38. For his Hall of Fame career, it would be kinda cool to see him return from Tommy John and win the Cy Young. From a real baseball standpoint. I know. Boo! Real Baseball? Get out of here! Sometimes, I regret to inform you, I just love baseball.
Martin Perez – 6 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.01. Streamonator keeps hating Perez’s starts, and I keep incorrectly agreeing. I’m shaking my head no, and I should be nodding like a Rare Mint Pez. Anagram points!
Adolis Garcia – 2-for-4, 5 RBIs and his 5th and 6th homer, hitting .205. Adolis is my favorite Rangers hitter, and least favorite part of Hereditary.
Kole Calhoun – 2-for-4 and his 2nd and 3rd homer. Welp, we can write off the possibility that a Rangers’ jersey with the last name Calhoun on it is simply jinxed.
Glenn Otto – 4 IP, 8 ER, ERA at 6.38. Ouchhcuo.
Kolten Wong – 2-for-2, 2 runs and a slam (3) and double legs (7, 8). A slam and double dong from Wong is a boing!
Jace Peterson – 1-for-4 and his 3rd homer. He was a hot schmotato last week, and now I say, “Still.”
Eric Lauer – 5 IP, 4 ER, 6 baserunners (zero walks), 7 Ks, ERA at 2.60 vs. Trevor Rogers – 5 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners (zero walks), 8 Ks, ERA at 4.45. Would’ve expected the exact opposite outcome in this matchup, but one start doesn’t change my opinion of either. I want to see more from Rogers, before declaring him back, and I go over Lauer in this week’s Matlock-themed Buy, Sell, Hold:
Jesus Luzardo – Hit the IL with a forearm strain. That really is a shame–Yeehaw! Cody Poteet was called up, but that’s just as a placeholder. Max Meyer will be called up very soon. See my Max Meyer fantasy, or see Prospect Hobbs’ Max Meyer fantasy.
Jorge Soler – 1-for-4 and his 7th homer, and 2nd homer in as many games, and I mentioned him last week as a guy who gets crazy hot schmotatoey.
Tylor Megill – Hit the IL with biceps inflammation. Doubt he’d undergo an MRI for a fake injury, but my guess was he was tipping pitches last time out, and rather than let him figure it out in game action, give him a fake IL stint, but the MRI says different. Unless it was to fill a stamp card.
Francisco Lindor – 1-for-4 and his 6th homer, hitting .232. Feeling lots of pain that Robbie Ray was great the one year I didn’t have him, and is kicking me in the family grapes the years I do have him, so don’t want to discuss any of this, if being honest.
Carlos Carrasco – 4 1/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.73. Giving up four runs in four innings to the M’s should count for double.
Julio Rodriguez – 4-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 2nd homer. Jul-Rod’s going to have a 12/25 rookie year and it will be indicative of nothing, except the dead ball.
Robbie Ray – 6 IP, 5 ER, 8 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 4.62. You know things are going fantastically when you’re praying a guy gets taken out of the game. A’la MC Hammer, “That’s why we pray! Ray! Pray! Ray! That’s we pray Ray will get taken out today!”
Diego Castillo – 2/3 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 8.74, and his 2nd save. I dropped Drew Steckenrider (1/3 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 4.85) the other day in a league where I need saves, and when Steckenrider entered the 9th in a save situation, I put myself inside my closet, and started screaming. Thankfully, Suckenrider couldn’t do the job, and the Mariners continue to not have a closer. Now, could someone please unlock my closet door? Little help.
Bobby Witt Jr. – 1-for-2, 2 runs, and his 3rd homer, and 2nd homer in last two games at Coors. Also, Whit Merrifield (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) hit his 2nd homer. What’s the chances the Royals could have their stadium flooded and they have to play the rest of their home games in Coors? Can someone hook up the Royals’ irrigation system to Steve Balboni’s toilet?
Daniel Lynch – 5 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.30. Unless my previous blurb wish comes true, Lynch gets the Twins at home next, and Streamonator doesn’t love it, but I’m starting him.
Daniel Bard – 1 IP, 2 ER, and the blown save, ERA at 3.65. The Bard of SAGNOF has me King Learing at him in my fantasy lineup.
Mookie Betts – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 7th homer, and 2nd homer in two games. Mookie Best!
Corey Knebel – 2/3 IP, 2 ER, and a blown save. Any ideas what his ERA is at? Go ahead, guess! Person within .50 gets an attaboy. Nope! It’s 3.60. I thought it was around 5.50, to be fair.
Paul Blackburn – 6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 1.67. The true benefit to rostering Blackburn is so much more than his insanely low ERA. It’s knowing your leaguemates are like, “How is his team so good? He’s got Paul freakin’ Blackburn!”
Frankie Montas – 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 12 Ks, ERA at 3.67. Gonna have to pitch better than that if you wanna get a win!
Shohei Ohtani – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 8th homer, and 2nd homer in two games, and his 100th and 101st homers this weekend. Career homers! But, honestly, with Ohtani, nothing shocks me anymore.
Zac Gallen – 6 IP, 1 ER, 3 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 1.05. Not only one of the most shocking early pitching performances, but it’s also shocking how little is made of it. The very shocking Gallen also sounds like me at a gas station.
Justin Steele – 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 4.50 vs. Humberto Castellanos – 5 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.15. This matchup was billed as, “Even if the Streamonator likes these guys, I can’t see streaming them unless it’s NL-Only,” as you can imagine not everyone calls this matchup that.
Rafael Ortega – 1-for-3 and his 1st homer. Welp, another guy not shooting blanks like Semien.
Patrick Wisdom – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 6th homer, hitting .224. If you have Wisdom, it’s gotta be hard to stand Pat.
Carlos Rodon – 3 2/3 IP, 8 ER, ERA at 3.49. The Regression Fairies can help you pick out an outfit and they will completely crap on your ratios.
Joey Bart – 1-for-3, ad his 4th homer. That homer came off a future Hall of Famer too. No, not Wainwright. It came off Albert Pujols, who pitches almost as fast as he runs.
Paul Goldschmidt – 3-for-4, 3 runs, 3 RBIs and his 4th homer. Au Shizz!
Nolan Arenado – 1-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 8th homer. Was able to get all my crypto out of the market just before the crash, and I have the cashier’s check to prove it! It’s right over here by this open window–NOOOOO!!! Torenado!
Yadier Molina – 2-for-3, 4 RBIs and his 2nd homer. So cute how winded he got running around the bases.
Adam Wainwright – 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.15. How can he retire? He’s not just the best pitcher born that is old enough to know who ALF is, he’s just a good pitcher.
Devin Smeltzer – 5 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 2 Ks, as he was recalled to start on Saturday. [old Jewish guy in Coming to America voice] Smeltzer!
Gio Urshela – 1-for-3 and his 3rd homer, and 2nd homer in as many games. Hot SchmoGio alert!
Byron Buxton – 1-for-4 and his 11th homer, hitting .259. He said he’s playing hurt; his knee is bothering him. Imagine if we ever saw 162 games of a healthy Buxton. *picturing a young Barry Bonds*
Emilio Pagan – 1 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 1.54 and his 5th save. Pagan’s been a solid closer while everyone tightly pinches their eyes closed, and hopes for Jhoan Duran.
Joe Ryan – 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners (zero BBs), 5 Ks, ERA at 2.39. Good to see a bounce back after a bit of a roofie’ing, but who’s going to get me back my kidney?
Triston McKenzie – 7 IP, 3 ER, 5 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.97. Stretch Armweak’s been on a good roll recently, hopefully no gusts of wind knock him over.
Zach Thompson – 6 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 3 walks, 3 Ks, ERA at 5.47. Streamonator doesn’t like Thompson’s next one, but I could see streaming him. Speaking of streaming Thompsons, Kids in the Hall is back!
Jose Quintana – 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.19. Not this good, no. But better than you might expect because of a dead ball and a great park? Sure, that doesn’t hurt. I’m in on Jo-Quin, and not Jo-Quin, if you catch my drift.
Hunter Greene – 7 1/3 IP, 1 ER, zero hits, 5 walks, 9 Ks, ERA at 6.21. Universe, what would happen if Hunter Greene faced a team that couldn’t homer off him? Oh man, the Reds are so bad they’re losing games to the Pirates — the Pirates! — where they no-hit them. I am laughing very hard. You thought a 5-pitcher no-hitter sucked? Can I interest you in a no-hitter where the starting pitcher and team lose? After the final out, while the Pirates were high-fiving, Hunter Greene should’ve ran on the field and celebrated on the mound. Honestly, can’t believe the Reds lost while no-hitting the Pirates. They got invited to an Andy Hawkins dance. Meanwhile, Jayson Stark is typing with his middle hand to find the last time teams won on the same day with zero hits and two hits.
Donovan, Owen Miller, G Torres who do you drop? Ops league
Freddy!
Let’s go!
Winker, Pham or Brian reynolds? Winker waking up?
Quick question. If Correa come back off the IL, does this mean that Lewis gets sent down?
Yes
Kikuchi, Winder or Javier?
Kikuchi
What do you think about trading Clevinger ($16) or Joe Ryan ($9) for either Jesus Sanchez ($8) or Jo Adell ($6) in a shallow dynasty? No pressure to do it, just following up on an inquiry. I have the pitching in this scenario.
Doesn’t sound good
Franmil and Abreu for Albombso!?
Pete side
Would you pick up Alex Thomas over either Randal Grichuk or Steve Kwan? 12 team H2H 7X7 (Runs, RBIs, HRs, SBs, OBP, SLG, Ks)
Nope
Pick up Skubal and lose Sonny Gray (he has been sentenced to my bench so far)?
Remember when Sonny pitched a no hitter or a complete game (can’t remember which) few years ago with A’s? Those damn Yankees were brutal on him. He’s a Vandy product but hard to tell if will ever have consistency.
Michigander to Music City. Toss up. Tennesseans gotta support our Vandy Boyz.
I think I know the answer but just wanted your expert opinion? Go with Skubal?
Thank you.
I’d want Skubal
Thoughts on long-term viability of Thairo with La Stella being activated? Both in the lineup tonight with Thairo hitting 7th at 2B and TLS hitting 8th at DH.
Think both are going to play 5 days a week until La Stella is hurt again next Tuesday
HA!
Who closes if Romano is hurt?
Cimber, I guess…what a mess…
Would you trade Happ for Mountcastle or Cronenworth?
Sure, Jake if you need AVG and runs
(in thick Transnistrian accent)
“Okeh, you mehbe heff heard song Johnny B Goode but in my county (iz real country! No problem!) ve also hef song. Name iz ‘Kyle B. Radish’ after very good popular sneck! Okeh you like I play!”
(Sparse crowd wakes, starts confusedly booing)
The very popular Transnistrian accent!
Iz much like!
Hahaha
I guess Gleybar is no longer a buy low candidate. Chris Taylor or Gleybar?
Gleyber
Hi Grey! Would you trade my Gore for his Julio Urias in a keeper but obviously want to win now? Are you concerned about Urias?
Would you trade Raisel for Julio Rodriguez in the same league? I would still have Kimbrel and Rogers for closers.
Thanks!
I’d want Urias…and Jul-Rod
A. Polanco and altuve
B. Xander and arozarena
Which side?
Real close…Polanco side
Who would you drop from the IL in a H2H category league….India or Jesus Luzardo? Not sure what is going on with Luzardo and his forearm strain. Thanks Grey!
@Grey: weekly roto. seems like acuna is trending towards playing tomorrow, but who knows. who do you like this week? acuna and possibly 5 days or ketel marte with 4 games @ lad and 4 games @ chc?

12 Team H2H 6×6 H2H OPS

Thanks
Rowdy, Renfroe
12 team 5×5 roto: Choose 1 starter from:
Gonsolin vs ARI & @ PHI
Detmers @ TEX
S Gray @ OAK
Mahle @ CLE
I’m leaning towards Gonsolin’s 2 starts, but am tempted by Gray against the DisgrA’s and Mahle piching well his last start.
Thanks!
Tony
Acuna out 5th game in a row plus a team off day. Come on! He is “fine” though. I am now officially worried.
Would you start Garret Whitlock against HOU today in a daily lineup roto league? He wasn’t sharp last time vs a much easier opponent.
They say he’ll start tomorrow, who knows
I’d start Garrett
Is Drury just a schmotato or would you pick him up as a MI over B. Rodgers?
Schmotato
Hello again Grey,
How are you feeling about the Odorizzi start in Boston tonight. He does pitch twice, with his second start against Texas, but I’m not loving him in Beantown. Odor may be the operative word here!
Appreciate any advice you got.
Thanks much Grey.
I wouldn’t start him
Yeah, my thought as well.
Thanks Grey.
Ok, one more Grey, I swear. And asking for a friend.
Start 2 of these 3 this week:
Donaldson
Cruz
France
Thanks again Grey.
Sounds like N. Cruz is now DTD with an illness, so moot point. France and Donaldson it is.
Have a good evening Grey.
You too!
Not Cruz
No problem
Please pick best streamer?
Hendricks home vs Arizona
Walker home vs STL
Tyler Anderson home vs Arizona
Detmers at Texas
Walker
Hi again Grey,
In a weekly league where Acuna is already announced as out for tonight, do I lock him in anyway or roll the dice on Alek Thomas, Franmil, or Lourdes?
Thanks as always!
I’d start Acuna
Hey Grey…. So, I traded for Lowe while India was on the IL and now need a stopgap for BOTH of them…
1) Can you rank Segura, Wong, Brendan Rodgers for roto for the next couple weeks?
2) And: is Melancon actually losing his job? Reporting I’ve seen is a bit unclear. Guessing Pagan is a better pickup than Kennedy either way though…
Thanks!
FWIW, Urias and Gleyber also available on waivers
Segura, Wong
2. Yes, Pagan
Thanks!
No problem
Hello Grey,
How would you rank JoMo, Alex Cobb and EdRod in a 10 team points league?
You did
Good Afternoon Grey. 10 Team 5×5 Category Keeper League
Currently rostering A. Meadows. Would you hold onto him or pick up either K. Lewis, H. Bader, L Voit or B. Marsh for ROS? Could you rank these available players also?
Lastly, do you think L. Mcullers is worth a pickup and stashed on my IL until he’s healthy?
Thanks for all you do!!
I also roster A. Vaughn and O. Miller if you think I should hold Meadows.
Sure, Bader, Marsh, kinda depends on needs
No, forget McCullers
weekly league issue. I used my last move to pick up margot as a backup outfielder but he got IL10. do I hope acuna doesnt go on the IL and start him or Tyler oneal who has earned his benching ugh
Start Acuna
14 team league
1. Sitting Odorizzi @ BOS today?
2. With Kelenic Demotion should I drop Gorman too move Kelenic to NA? or drop Kelenic?
3. Drop Miranda to play the hot hand?
4. Robles, Rainey, Floro, Staumont, Duffey should I be attached to any of these Jerks in a Hld Svs league? or play roulette?
1. Yes 2. Drop Kelenic 3. Depends who 4. Roulette
Someone is offering me Mark Canha and Hunter Greene for Luis Urias. What are your thoughts on this? He also offered as a second option either jesse winker or Dylan Carlson for him
Hey Grey, I’ve got to bench one of the following in my weekly lineup lock 12 team AL-only:
Chris Archer @OAK @KC
Cristian Javier vs TEX
Michael Lorenzen vs OAK
Jeffrey Springs @BAL (looking very good stretched out I might add)
Brad Keller vs CHW vs MIN
Clay Holmes
The starters are all pretty close to each other on Streamonator and I think Holmes’ placement belies his value. I’d not be surprised to see him sneak a win and/or a save this week. generally pretty tough call since the matchups are all quite favorable.
Tough call, I’d prolly bench Javier
Are you done with Miranda? It seems so. He and Jesus Sanchez. Why come?
Depends on options
Adolis is my only CF. Sitting on Miranda. Grisham is available but I’d rather hold Adolis’ HR. Drop Miranda for either Jesus now or Duran down the road?
Hold
@Grey: 12 team weekly roto. i feel like im getting sucked back into aaron ashby. think he gets converted back to a starter? he looked nasty yesterday…
Meh, not unless they need a SP, then he can’t go more than 4-5
Pick one for a weekly lock league
Gilbert (@TOR, @BOS)
Skubal (@CLE)
JoMo (@BAL)
Points league if it matters
Skubal
Please rank these for ROS in a roto league that uses QS:
1. Fried (19 QS last season)
2. Nestor (only 93 IP last season)
3. Lauer
FIP, SIERRA look good for all 3
And where would you rank Verlander ROS among that list too?
Verlander, Lauer, Fried
Thanks Grey. I’m going to try and deal for Verlander and Lauer then. No IP issues that would affect counting stats compared to Fried?
Verlander might get throttled in the 2nd half, hard to say…Fried is safest for IP
Hey Grey, a trade opinion please.
A: Tyler O’Neill and Camilo Doval
B: Jose Abreu and Myles Straw
Tyler but no faith
Grey,
Start or sit Cedric “I went 0-4 with 4k’s yesterday” Mullins?
Start
k but who do i sit in the UTIL spot?
Vlad
Espinal
Witt

Ohtani
Espinal

Grisham
Good stuff as always Grey!
Pick 2 please and thank you for a 15-teamer:
Quintana vs STL
Ty. Wells vs TB
Wacha vs SEA
NickMart AT SF
Or, would you prefer NONE??
None
Would you move Ohtani to P rather than start one of the above?
No, I’d start Quintana
Grathias Mather Lothario!
De nada
Grey I was having an argument with my buddy about robot umps vs real umps (I say ROBO) cuz like how unfair is it that in your prime years some aged old man decides your batting fate when for sure the batters have better eyesight then the umps. I have no real proof of this other then simple math of age = worse eyesight! Plus you cant even argue… our solution we came up with is UMPBOT! so you have the batter the human umpire and behind them you have a giant Umpbot who makes the final say on close calls. Batter would also be too scared to argue with ump bot if it is anything like I am picturing.
Then because youtube and stuff loves showing you links to what you listen to I got linked to some channel where the guy breaks down weird baseball stuff like Schwarber losing it on Angel Hernandez and that first base ump staring down Bumgarner while rubbing his hand too long! HA weird!
I lost like half my pitching staff last week! But I had a question for batters because for some reason Swanson is sitting on Waivers.
A) Swanson Tellez or moncada can sit in my UT slot which one ROS in OBP and is it close? I’m streaming Moncada this week for Schmotato and good matchups (sox play 8 games this week)
I like it! Even better is if Umpbot blocks all the people who get behind home seats who don’t actually like baseball but they know someone…Tellez, it’s close
UMPBOT DOES NOT CARE WHO YOU KNOW!
UMPBOT is allegiance free
Me watching all of my pitchers’ ERAs explode
Hahaha
Hey Grey, 12 man roto Yahoo, give JRod, Witt Jr and Manaea to get Starling Marte? Too much? Sub another SP in?
No way
Standard 5x 5 10 team AL only roto league. Speculating on saves and hoping for your sage guidance for saves du joir – F. Bautista or M. Strahm?
Bautista
Thank you.
Do you think Alexis Diaz finds his way into the saves mix in CIN? Everyone else there seems to have tried and failed in their few wins…
Seems unlikely but maybe
The usual suspects failed again, and Diaz lucked into the unlikely tonight!
Likely to happen again?
12 team H2H 5×5 OBP
Who wins this trade?
Joe Ryan and Dylan Carlson
for
JT Realmuto
Sadly Realmuto but close
Hey Grey! Awesome write up as usual!
1) Would you trade Kopech and Nelson Cruz for Castellanos?
2) Would you trade Kopech and Franmal for Castellanos?
thanks,
Trishul
Thanks! 1. Yes 2. Yes
This is a meh question but– Brian Reynolds or Mancini?
thx…
Mancini
Hey somebody want to tell the Cards to call up Gorman soon.
He is sitting on my bench and getting 0 production thus far. Yikes!
Are you concerned about his 30% K rate, if and when he makes the big show??
Yeah, I’m concerned but his power plays
Hi Grey,
Your pitching insight is always appreciated.
1. I was going to start Mikolas and Freddy Peralta. Do you agree?
2, I was was going to pass on Baltimore’s Kyle Brakish against the Yankees and therefore going to keep him on the bench? Do you agree?
3. Is it worth picking up Martin Perez? If you agree, who would you drop from the following:
Cristian Javier
Paul Blackburn
Tyler Anderson
Mike Clevinger
Dane Dunning
Kyle Bradish
Grayson Rodiquez
Thanks!!!
Martin
Yes 2. Bench 3. Anderson
Thank you!
No problem
Meister Grey,
Thank you, blah blah blah……in a hurry:)!!!
A) Morton over any of these:
Manaea
J Ryan
N Cortes
Pablo Sandoval
Gallen
McClanahan
Cease
Glibert
and Meyer???
B) Happy Monday
C) There is no C.
Have a great week, thank you.
CCC
Haha a) over Gilbert b) you too!
Grey, what kind of SP should I be getting in return for Ward?
this is a keeper league.
I was thinking maybe Wright? but apparently I am way off according to the other GM. Wright has much more value..
I’d take Wright…maybe Wheeler?
Just read that The Fathers likely to work Gore out of the pen…please say it ain’t so!
Also, SON seems to like Zach Logue today v. MIN…you rollin him out there or ain’t gonna trust a MediOAKer?
Thanks again!
I tried to grab Logue but wasn’t quick enough, so yeah
thanks as always for the advice!
If you had to choose 1 in that game:
Logue or Archer
who would it be?
Logue
12 team, redraft, H2H, mixed, standard 5X5. Please rank R.O.S.: Blackburn, M. Kelly, Skubal.
Skubal…Blackburn
12 team head to head redraft
Ozuna or Adolis ?
Adolis
Hi Grey,
Good afternoon and hope you had a nice weekend.
1st Question
14 team H2H League, with 2 UTL and OBP
Would you drop Nathaniel Lowe and add:
Luis Gonzalez
Maikel Franco
Myles Shaw (hitting 1st now)
Adolis Garcia
Josh Rojas
2nd Question
in 2b i’m playing Cesar Hernandez. Should I continue to hold or drop him for one of the players mentioned above?
Many thanks!
Thanks,
Chris
Straw 2. Drop for Adolis
freddiefreeman or Yordan Alvarez for ROS?
Freeman
@Grey: Sandy 5.5 Ks home v Nats, Sevy 5.5 Ks @ Camden, and FreddyKBB 7.5 Ks home v ATL. I am leaning over all 3, with Freddy being my least confident since he only goes 5 innings… he hasn’t been super sharp so there’s less room for error from him. Thoughts?
Sandy and Sevy over, Freddy under
Thanks Grey!
No problem
Deep League NL Only, ERA, W, Ks, Whip, Saves:
Pick one of: Graterol; Will Smith (ATL); or Boxberger.
Pick one of: Jordan Hicks or German Marquez
Smith
German
Pick 2… Whitlocke, Christian Javier, max Meyer, Spencer strider
Whitlock, Strider
You seemed to like Vaughn a lot before he got hurt. Now he’s back and you’re suggesting just about everyone over him. Concerned about his hand?
He’s fine, I don’t dislike him, but Tony’s not playing him every day, so you have to platoon him
Interesting, I’ll be watching for that, thanks. I remember him starting to play every day before he got hurt but may have missed something.
No problem
Start or bench Bradish at home vs Yanks?
Bench
Hey Grey, sir!
I need some help, its a Monday in May and while my offense is dominating, my pitching is struggling. My only set it and forget its are Guasman, Woodruff & LGarcia.
1. Weekly lineup lock, can you rank your best 4 of these for the week;
AWood @Col, vSD
MMikolas @NYM, @Pit
MKelly @LAD, @ChC
MLorenzen vOak
TMahle @Cle
RSuarez vSD
JUrquidy @Bos
CJavier vTex
2. Looking to trade for Skubal or Morton, since I can buy low. For Morton, how about Nimmo?
For Skubal, Kyle Lewis?
Thanks!
MMikolas @NYM, @Pit, Ranger, Javier, Lorenzen
If you can trade Lewis for Skubal, I’d do that immediately…Nimmo for Morton sounds equally good and unlikely
1. Grab Strider in QS league?
2. Best milb stash, O Cruz, J Duran or Adell for eventual callup and production? Keep forever Obp league w/ Ks
3. Like Lewin Diaz?
Thanks
1. Sure 2. Cruz 3. Not unless he’s playing and hitting
grab Strider and drop Gore in a holds league
Sure
12 Team H2H 6×6 OPS QS Daily Redraft
1). Moncada or Wright
2). Moncada or Mikolas
Thanks
1. Kyle 2. Moncada
Who do you like better ROS: walsh or Torres? Thinking about packaging one of them with Kopech for an upgrade (would also be curious how high you would aim?)
Walsh
Would want an ace
Was contemplating Kyle tucker, Matt Olson, wheeler, woodruff, and musgrove.
Not confident in kopech given the decreased velo and regression due. Do you have more hope?
“Was contemplating Kyle tucker, Matt Olson, wheeler, woodruff, and musgrove.” What?
Sorry – was contemplating asking for one of tucker, Olson, wheeler, woodruff, or musgrove and offering kopech and torres
Oh, I’d take any…Tucker, Olson, Woodruff, Musgrove, that roder
Haha thanks Grey – sorry for the confusion!
No problem
Is Bryan Reynolds due to turn it around or is this 2020 all over again? I trying to decide whether to hold onto him or stream that OF spot. Thanks!
Can move on in a shallow enough league
ok I am ready to take my lumps and learn from this.
In league where I am desparate for saves, I traded Aaron Nola to get Emmanuel Clase. The owner wanted either Nola, Gioloto or Chris Bassitt for Clase and I decided (in my limited wisdom) that it might be better to part with Nola rather than Gioloto or Bassit.
Find good closer is alot harder to find/obtain than a good starter.
Cheers!
Gotcha
Grey ! Offered George Kirby & Taylor Rogers for my Mcclanahan … 12 teamer .. keep 10 + 10 farm/stash …. I’m in 2nd …, thank you as usual
Hold
Mateo + Aroldis Chapman for Castellanos.
1) Pick a side
2) Is it close?
Cast, not close

@Grey: 12 team weekly roto. need to start two of these guys. who do you like?
skubal – @ cle (hes a must starter, right?)
ryan – @ kc
framber – vs tex
javier – vs tex
thanks!
Framber, Skubal
Are you straight dropping Berrios for a streaming spot in a 10 team league (+QS) at this point? It feels severe; are you instead holding and hoping he figures it out sometime? There are no really good pick up and hold options on the wire, but there are decent streamers out there, and he’s essentially warming my bench these days.
Similar question for Tyler O’Neill, but I see you said elsewhere to hold for now.
