First, let’s stop to address our five female readers. Google analytics says there’s two mothers, and one is my mom — hi Mom! — and the other mother is one of our frequent commenter’s moms making sure I don’t use any naughty words. I’ll let you decide which commenter it is. Happy Mother’s Day to you, our lone mother unrelated to me. Hopefully your son was as filthy, in a good way, to you as George Kirby. So, this is what it’s like being in a league with Prospect Itch. Rookie is called up, I go to the waiver wire, Itch already has said rookie player and I grumble like Lisa Simpson. Rinse and repeat. This weekend’s grumbles were accompanied by me looking for Royce Lewis, Jarren Duran and George Kirby. In Friday’s Buy column, I went over Duran and Lewis (great comedy duo, by the way), but I was too optimistic on both, since Duran’s already been sent down and Lewis might not be far behind. That brings us back to George Kirby (6 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks). His stuff: a triple-digit speedball that sits 102. Weird, I sit 101, but I’m talking traffic and on a freeway. Here’s Itch’s breakdown of Kirby, “His off-speed stuff is less impressive, but his double-plus command makes everything play up and turns the fastball into multiple pitches. If you know you can hit the inside corner or the outside corner to hitters from both sides of the plate, that soon factors into your thinking as two different pitches, strategically speaking. He’s 6’4” 215 lbs and puts it together in a smooth, athletic delivery that should help him stay healthy, in theory. His outcomes have been stellar at every stop so far. And here’s hoping Grey gets punched in the head.” What? C’mon, man! So, I tried to grab Kirby in every league. The command should help the avoidance of roofies, and the upside is real and it’s spectacular. Yesterday’s start made a patient team look dumb. Even the Prospectonator (projections for every rookie) is optimistic, and it’s never optimistic. Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:
Drew Rasmussen – 5 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.89. Drew’s been a great find for my teams! Drew found…? Draw’s been? Weird verb tense there with ‘Drew.’
Abraham Toro – 2-for-4 and his 4th homer, and his 2nd homer in two games. Hot schmotato that is only slightly less hot than our next schmotato.
Manuel Margot – 2-for-3 and a slam (3) and legs (3), and his 3rd homer in three days. You’re not going to find a hotter hot schmotato, including you, Toro.
Chris Sale – Has been delayed, due to a personal, non-Covid medical issue. Oh, vague! He must’ve got his balls stuck in his zipper!
James Paxton – Has elbow soreness. Incredible that it’s only the first time this year. He’s usually got three elbow-related issues by May.
Michael Wacha – Hit the IL with intercostal irritation. When it rains it pours, and right now it’s raining directly above Fenway. This allowed Tanner Houck (2 2/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 5.70) to get the start on Sunday, and that turned out exactly as well as you would’ve imagined.
Alek Thomas – 1-for-3, 1 run as he was called up by the Diamondbacks. You know you have too many leagues when you go to pickup a player, and you already have them on your team. That happened with Alek Thomas, and now you’re aware of it. Lucky you. I even grabbed Alek Thomas in my RCL league, and that was dropping Royce Lewis. So, now my stuff that you don’t care about is out of the way, our hitter prospect projections are pretty favorable for Al Tom, and you can kinda see why when you look at his profile. Speed/power and great contact — yes, please and thank you. He was on Prospect Itch’s top 100 prospects for 2022 fantasy, and he called him a 15/15/.280 type, but upside, my lovelies, upside.
Zac Gallen – 7 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 0.95. Okay, time to give a deeper look at this Gallen like an old lady picking out milk. His command has taken a huge step forward this year. He’s abandoned his slider, and redistributed it to a cutter, and the stuff is playing up. He’s putting more pitches in the zone, and causing more whiffs. The sample size is still small — that’s what she said, derisively — but if the command holds, he’s at worst a number two.
Shane Bieber – 3 1/3 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 4.13. Yeah, but in this game Gausman gave up his first walk, so, really, who lost here?
Didi Gregorius – Hit the IL with a knee sprain. Bryson Stott was recalled from Lehigh Valley, which is different than knee-high valley, that’s Catholic school.
Bryce Harper – 2-for-8, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer. My concerns for his elbow maybe were blown out of proportion. Dot dot dot. Like his elbow will be if he tweaks it just wrong.
Pete Alonso – 3-for-8, 5 RBIs and two homers (6, 7). Albombso-so!
Max Scherzer – 6 IP, 3 ER, 10 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.92. Went over him in this week’s Buy, Sell, Hold:
Sonny Gray – 4 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 3.48 as he was activated from the IL in time to face his old club, the A’s. Must’ve been nice to see so many old faces like…um…Well, Beane’s there still, and…uh…the hot dog vendor in section 225.
Chris Paddack – 2 1/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 4.03. Pimply-faced teenager runs into frame, screaming, “Watch out! Paddack is falling back to earth!”
Ramon Laureano – 0-for-4 as he was activated from the Cheater’s List. He didn’t prosper on that list, he was suspended without pay! Learn your lesson, children who take PEDs!
Steven Matz – 2 IP, 8 ER, ERA at 7.01. “Only I can fix the dead-ball era” — famous quote from Steven Matz looking at his hands.
Juan Yepez – 2-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 1st homer. Perfectly vibing with my iPhone when it autocorrects Yepez to Yeppers. You wish you had someone who understands you as well as my phone understands me.
LaMonte Wade Jr. – 1-for-2, 2 RBIs and his 1st homer. He hit that for LaMomma Wade.
Mike Yastrzemski – 1-for-2, 2 RBIs and his 2nd homer. Carl’s Jr. Jr. made it through five pitching changes, a new record for a Giants hitter.
Frank Schwindel – Optioned to the minors. Cubs did a Ctrl+Alt+SchwinDEL. Guess that means the Cubs are turning to Alfonso Rivas, who has zero power, zero speed but a winning personality! And he might hit .260.
Eduardo Rodriguez – 6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 1 hit, 3 walks, 8 Ks, ERA at 4.50. Em-effing Ed-Rod is baaaaaaaaaaack! Or he had one good game. Meh, maybe the latter, but Streamonator loves his next start and so do I.
Michael Lorenzen – 4 2/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 4.13. The real Lorenzen showed up and it wasn’t pretty. Welp, the Angels still have his terrible hitting, if they want to give that a chance.
Tanner Rainey – 2/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 3.12. The best , and I mean best, is when you don’t have a closer get a save for a while, finally get a chance and then Amber Heard the bed. Just an absolute chef’s kiss.
Joe Dunand – Didn’t play on Sunday; hit his 1st homer on Saturday. Dunand was called up to replace the IL’d Jon Berti, and Elias Sports Bureau said Dunand’s the first player whose last name starts the Pink Panther creeping.
Trevor Rogers – 5 IP, 0 ER, 7 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 5.00. Nice bounce back with a wildly inefficient start. Lowercase yay! This start gives me no hope his next start won’t be a Three Mile Island-type disaster. By the way, Three Mile Island: The original TMI.
Cole Sulser – 2/3 IP, 3 ER, ERA at 2.92 with the massive blown save, as Anthony Bender (1 IP, 0 ER) pitched the 6th. Why? Only explanation is Don Mattingly was hit on the head too many times by his ex-wife.
Joe Musgrove – 7 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 2.08. Not quite as clean a line as his opponent, Rogers, but, besides a Chisholm homer, Musgrove looked much better.
Andrew McCutchen – Hit the Covid IL, and the Brewers called up Brosseau. “Whoa,” that’s what Brosseau.
Aaron Ashby – 4 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 4.24. So, what you’re saying is I shouldn’t stream Ashby? Okay, loud and clear!
William Contreras – 1-for-2, 4 RBIs and a slam (3) and legs (1). Also, he’s hitting ninth, so he’s actually moved Swanson up to 8th! Contreras is doing it all!
Charlie Morton – 5 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners (3 BBs), 5 Ks, ERA at 5.65. The results were better, but it was more because the results couldn’t get worse, and he didn’t look that much better.
Adam Duvall – 1-for-3, 2 runs and his 2nd homer. I will bet you any amount of money (once I unload my NFTs) that Duvall will homer again in the next three games, and have four homers by the end of this week.
Kole Calhoun – 1-for-4 and his 1st homer. Finally, the Rangers get something out of someone with the last name Calhoun.
Dane Dunning – 6 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.38. He was dropped in one of my leagues, and I’m not exactly sure why, but I put in some FAAB to try to acquire him. He’s a meh fastball guy who relies on his breaking stuff, but it works for him, and his 3.18 xFIP says most, and his 8.7 K/9 says more. Not an ace, but absolutely rosterable in most 12-team, mixed leagues and deeper.
Gleyber Torres – 2-for-4 and his 4th homer. Can make a goof about how this was his first career homer vs. someone not named the Orioles, but he also has four homers, and that’s more than most of the guys on my fantasy teams.
Giancarlo Stanton – 1-for-6, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer, hitting .260. Only thing you need to worry about with Giancarlo is his health, and his ability to shake me when I’m following him in a dark alley.
Jake Odorizzi – 5 IP, 0 ER, 3 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.38, and 1 ER in the last 17 2/3 IP, after giving up 9 ER in his first 9 IP. On 4/20, Odorizzi had a season high 9.00 ERA and ever since it’s been wine and Odoroses. Looking like the pickup that should’ve been, but still might be in some leagues. By the way, if you found us by searching “4/20 + high” why did you click all the way to search result page 790? Oh, wait, I think I know.
Alex Bregman – 1-for-3, 2 runs and his 5th homer, hitting .235. This game was against the Tigers, and A.J. Hinch. Before the game, it was pretty cool Bregman and Hinch exchanged lineup cards, and garbage can lids.
Jordan Lyles – 7 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.32. Streamonator was just a tad positive yesterday on this start, and it hates his next, so *raspberries lips*.
Bruce Zimmermann – 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners (zero walks), 5 Ks, ERA at 2.67. Maybe it’s the name Bruce — it sounds like a chiropractor. Maybe it’s the Orioles. It could definitely be that. It’s just hard to trust this guy, but his peripherals are saying he’s pitching as well as it seems.
Tyler Mahle – 5 IP, 2 ER, 4 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 6.46. If you’re not shutting down the Pirates with filth, what are you even doing?
Connor Overton – 5 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.53. Didn’t used to be a good pitcher, but with pitching not being as good as it once was, Overton has shifted the discourse.
Colin Moran – 2-f0r-4, 6 RBIs and his 1st and 2nd homer. One homer for Moran is a Chachi, two homers is a Cha-ching!
Roberto Perez – Hit the IL with a hamstring strain. Pirates replaced him on the roster with Michael Perez, Roberto’s father.
Owen Miller – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 3rd homer, hitting .352. Ownin’ Owen? Not if I can help it.
Alek Manoah – 5 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 1.75. Happy Mother’s Day to Alek Manoah’s mom, Mommah. You filled a hole in our hearts left empty by Mike Napoli’s mom, and, for that, we are forever grateful and eternally thirsty.
Lou Trivino is droppable in 12-team leagues, no?
Naylor Nuke! LFG!!
Naylor is having the night of his life.
Grey,
Recent trade in h2h points league. Webb for Teoscar and Gonsolin. Thoughts?
Picking up Elieser for a two start week vs the DBacks is looking like a disastrous decision.
@Grey: supposedly its minor, but with ward sitting out today with hamstring tightness, would you start franmil over him in weekly leagues?
I’d start Franmil
12 team 5×5 h2h
Kershaw and Verdugo for Stanton fair?
Stanton side it’s fair
20 teams – need to cut two. Who?
Naquin;Yepez; Miranda; Kirilloff.
Thanks.
Naquin, Kirilloff
This title looks suspiciously like a comment made by Grimey on Saturday…
Albeit it doesn’t take Bruce Vilanch to craft that one Hahaha
and dare I say Castillo looks muy bueno so far!
Is this a jinx?
Jajaja tres innings bueno y dos malo
Hahahaha partial hat tip — but Rudy did the title without looking at comments (I think)
just a great minds think alike situation :)
Would you drop Alex Cobb for George Kirby?
Nope
Sorry for the late day question – hope your Monday is fantastic.
13 team QS league – Would you trade Kopech and Gonsolin for Freddy P? I like Kopech and Gonsolin a LOT – but Peralta feels like he’ll pitch 180 innings this year and this might be the last chance to buy. Plus, I think he’ll throw 6 innings more – possibly as many times as the other two combined. Thoughts?
Thanks!!!
I’d take Freddy
Thanks!!
Tale of Two Alex’s: which is the better stream (a) Alex Wood (SF) or (b) Alex Cobb (SF)? Both are at home (SF) against the Rockies … (Robot likes both)
Thanks!
Cobb
Was offered another trade
Jram and Arozerena and I would get acuna and justin turner in return. What we thinking on this one
Hold
Grey, 10 Team 5×5 Keeper League.
Who is the bench add for counting stats ROS J. Pederson, H.Bader, G.Lux, J. Profar, or J. Miranda?
Thanks mucho!
Pederson
Should I drop two between Ozuna Grichuk Adolis LourdesG. and add Margot and Kelenic (I admit I love his upside and I’m in a K league)? And who between them?
Thanks!
Ozuna for Margot
5×5 roto using QS. Buehler or Peralta? Peralta’s peripherals are better than Buehler’s.
Walker
Devers/Nimmo/Trivino/Patrick Sandoval for Giolito/Alcantara/Seager/Ke’Bryan Hayes – 12-team, 5-man keeper league – which side do you prefer?
Devers
Please pick a side ROS 6×6 redraft: Bellinger + Nestor Cortes or Woodruff.
Woodruff
Looking more long term for my OF…hopefully September playoffs! WW very thin at OF but Duvall just popped up. Happ is my worst current OF and that Cubs lineup blows. Not sure about Duvall’s playing time down the road. Swap or hold?
Hold
I have a bench spot that I don’t need to play much that Kirilloff currently occupies. Would you drop him for Gorman?
Sure
Hey Grey…I have a few guys available on the wire. wondering if i should make the move for one or more of them based on future valie…or alternatively, if I should stick with what I have.
Currently on my team:
Pham
Kepler
I use them as guys to swap into my lineup on thin schedule days or as my utility guys…
FA wire:
Vaughn (i know he is hurt but was doing decent prior to going on IL)
Verdugo
Winker
Thanks!
Kepler’s whatever…Can go Vaughn
Thanks! Follow up – is Matt Barnes cooked? safe to drop? or you think he eventually works his way back?
Yes, drop…Maybe eventually, but move on
Roto with QS: Daniel Lynch or Madison Bum rest of season?
Lynch
O’Neill or Ozuna?
O’Neill
12 team points league.
The Gurriel brothers were both dropped today.
1 or the other worth a claim?
Position need not an issue, just ROS move.
Thank you.
Yuli is his father
I’d want Lourdes
LaMomma Wade is perfect : )
Thanks!
Witt or Jul-Rod in a Keeper?
Witt
Grey,
1. What do you think of Sonny Gray ROS?
2. Please help me rank ROS Clevinger, JoMo, Cortes, Sonny.
3. ROS Hader or Bellingher? Counting stats R, RBI, HR, SB, BB, XBH.
1. Think he’s fine, a #3
2. JoMo, Gray, Clevinger
3. Hader
I know different needs – but who wins ROS: Franmil or Polanco?
Polanco
1) Pick one – Margot; Bader; Grisham.
2) Kirby or Rasmusen?
1. Margot
2. Kirby
would you trade Alcantara to get “Nasty” Nestor Cortes?
or Darvish for Cortes
Nope
Trade Ian Happ for Tyler Stevenson in a keep forever? I am tired of looking at Gary Sanchez.
Also drop Tijuan Walker for German Marquez? I think I have been last on the Tijuan Bandwagon for a few years now. Marquez is younger and hopefully out of Colorado jail soon.
Thank you as always. I am wearing khakis
Sure
German’s been awful
I have on trackpants
2nd base is a big gaping hole on my squad with the injury to India and the suckiness of Story. Eduardo Escobar is not helping matters much. Any of these losers seem like an upgrade from Escobar/Story?
Owen Miller
Gavin Lux
Cesar Hernandez
Brandon Drury
Jean Segura
Wilmer Flores
Nah
I mean, maybe Escobar for Drury, but then you have to cycle thru hot schmtatoes
Yeah it’s a mess, thanks Grey!
No problem
Grey
I have Royce Lewis, I like him but am afraid he maybe sent down once Correa comes back
That being said, would you drop him for Alec Thomas
Yes
Thanks Grey
BTW
What are your thoughts on Muncy
He isn’t in the lineup today. Only batting .138 3 HRS’s
Its already May and he is just plain awful .Yes he walks a lot but who the F needs that. Only 11 runs scored and 11 RBI’s
What do you do with him
I wouldn’t have drafted him, he’s injured
Someone dropped him early on and I picked him up
I didnt realize he was injured.
So would you drop him, maybe for Alec Thomas
Sure
Thanks Grey
much appreciated
No problem
Permission to move on from Eduardo Escobar?
Permission granted
Just a theoretical… if JMontgomery doesn’t get a win all year, was he worth rostering?
I’m sure he’ll win on the Yanks
Oh good, we jinxed Nestor!
Haha
Grey,
Would you buy low on Bieber? Was offered Shane for my Luzardo and Skubal.
Or avoid him like the plague
Avoid
I am still expecting grainy video from the Royal’s parking lot to emerge showing Dayton Moore’s hit men putting Olivares on the DL because they can’t find a reason to send him back to AAA again.
Haha
hold josh lowe in a 10 team h2h keeper league with no NA and 4 bench spots? currently have volpe stashed
Nah
Hi Grey,
Would you start Seatle’s Chris Flexan at home against Phil?
Thanks!
martin
Yes
Thank you!
No problem
A guy in my league is selling J.D. Martinez and Seiya. 12 team mixed keeper. Are you buying either? And are you taking either over L. Gurriel or Grichuk?
I saw your recent sells, really hoping Story and Semien can turn it around…I need them!
Thank you.
Yes, over them
I hear ya, they both look terrible
Thanks Grey, about where to you think JD and Seiya will end up overall? Either a top 20 OF?
Around that, yeah
If you could choose one of the two, which do you prefer? Keeper league, but in it this year too.
hey grey,
castillo is back looks like two starts would you roll him out this week or wait and see? who would you sit for if you start him Megill?
ManaeaD. CeaseF. PeraltaS. McClanahanT. MegillM. Clevinger(R)L. Castillo(I)
R. IglesiasE
Hello Grey,
Hope your weekend was good.
Do you think it’s time to part ways with the Rizz in a Yahoo 10 Team H2H Points League? He started off great, and he is still in a good lineup and a good park, but he has not done much of anything lately. I guess I can confirm, but it certainly feels that way. My 1-3 start in that league when I thought I had a good team has me kind of frustrated, so I am ready to scorch anyone at this point.
I could roll Hosmer into 1B (he is currently my Util) and then grab someone like Lardass Gurriel (I dropped him to make room for someone), Austin Hay, Alek Thomas, Brandon Marsh, or someone of that ilk.
Thanks Grey. Your assistance would be very much appreciated.
No, I wouldn’t drop Rizzo
Trey Mancini would also be an option.
And if he comes with his wife Sara Perlman, I’m all in – HA!
HA
Winder.. just a solid streamer who took advantage of the DisgrA’s or are you monocling him now and holding in deeper leagues for upside?
Monocle, but he looks decent — another Twins decent Ks, solid command type
Thanks homie. Have a great rest of your day!
You too!
one more, drop tellez to activate Moncada 1b/3b slot? or figure something else out and hold both. Thanks
No way
Drop Rowdy for Kirilloff or Yepez? Or hold?
Why
Bc I need to go to RAA – Rosterbation Addicts Anonymous …
Same 12 teamer – I have Nimmo, Kelenic, Winker on my bench in a 12-teamer…Need a MI
Currently have Lux. Drop Kelenic for Gorman? Or try a trade?
Meh, Lux, Kelenic and Gorman are all bench flyers
kk thanks
No problem
I had to lock myself in the office bathroom with a box of tissues after looking at Christian Walker’s statcast page. Had no idea…
HAHA
Hi Grey,
To everyone’s surprise, including me, I am in first place in my Yahoo League – thanks to your help!!
Below is my current pitching staff. I have four questions:
1. Who are the weak pitchers and I should look to waiver?
2. Are Burnes, Lopez, Peralta the only non-steamers?
3. What are you thoughts on a) Mikolas, b) Kelly and c) Clevinger?
4. What advice would you give regarding the streamers and when to pitch them?
Corbin Burnes
Pablo Lobez
Freddy Peralta
Mike Mikolas
Merrill Kelly
Mike Clevinger
Cristian Javier
Tyler Anderson
Dane Dunning
Chris Flexan
Paul Blackburn
Chris Paddack
Aaron Ashby
Jalen Beeks
Thanks!!!
Martin
no idea how big the league is
Good Question: There are 12 teams in the league. Thanks as always for your help!
2. Sure
4. Depends on matchups
Hi Grey. Which two pitchers would you keep? Manaea, Josiah Gray, Sonny Gray, Paxton, Kirby, Rasmussen. Thanks!
Manaea, Gray
Which Gray?
Sorry, Sonny
Framber Valdez or Kirby ROS?
Framber
How long are you holding on to Ian Anderson in shallow 10 team leagues? Walk to strikeout rate is very ugly
Can lose him
1. End of bench bat / stash, no real needs. How do you rank these OF:
Jesus Sanchez
Harrison Bader
Tommy Pham
Trent Grisham
Kyle Lewis
2. And then same deal for a backup IF / stash, no real needs. How would you rank:
Juan Yepez
Gleyber Torres
Eugenio Suarez
Jorge Mateo
Jose Miranda
Nolan Gorman
3. Lastly, do you think Max Meyer is an immediate must-add everywhere once he gets the call?
Thank you kind sir!
1. Pham, Bader 2. Miranda, Yepez 3. Yes
Sweet. Thanks!
No problem
Would Swanson rank below Miranda and Yepez for you too? He was just dropped minutes ago.
Yes
Gotcha. Thanks man.
No problem
@Grey: weekly roto. need to start two of the following. who do you like?
laureano – 5 @ det, 4 vs laa (not sure if they are going to ease him back in?)
t ward – 3 vs tb, 4 @ oak
franmil – 3 @ cws, 3 @ min
ketel – 3 vs mia, 3 vs chc
yepez – 3 vs bal, 3 vs sf
thanks!
Ward, Franmil
Was offered logan webb for rasmussen and ozuna. What do you think?
Rasmussen side
My life has been rough in my 10-team Yahoo (6×6 with added OPS, added QS, using SV+H). Currently bouncing between 6th and 8th and trying to figure out when it’s time to cut bait on people, or if I just hold and wait for the stats to come. My hitting has been…alright ( 7th in R, but 3rd-4th in all others), and I have some faith it’ll come through, but my pitching is another story (4th in W and SV+H, but dead last in all others). The waiver wire is still fairly thin due to deep benches, but are there any obvious guys to cut here, or try to sell high/low on?
Starting Hit (C/1B/2B/3B/SS/3OF/2Util)
d’Arnaud, Olson, Albies, Devers, Franco, Acuna, Suzuki, O’Neill, Rizzo, Ozuna
Bench: Verdugo, K Marte
Pitch (3SP, 2RP, 4P)
SP: Berrios, Valdez, Peralta, Cortes, Manaea, Gilbert, Javier, Gonsolin
RP: Kimbrel, Helsley, Barlow, Romano, Drew Smith
Main problems have been Ozuna, Marte, Verdugo, maybe O’Neill on hit side, and Berrios, Peralta (plus some others I’ve already dropped), though basically no one is doing GREAT
Waivers include guys like:
Hit: Pena, Adolis, Kwan, Kepler
Pitch: Winder, Hudson, Flexen, Lorenzen, Irvin, Zimmerman, Kluber
RP: Jose Ruiz, Bass, Montero, etc plenty of middle RP
Any advice appreciated. Thanks
Ozuna, Verdugo, Javier, Gonsolin and Smith aren’t worth rostering in a 10 team league…Waivers guys are only good as long as they’re hot…You need to be more active…I’d grab another SP, but I’d look at their matchups — Adolis over Ozuna
Hi Grey,
1. Would you pick up Dane Dunning of Texas?
2. Would you start him against Boston at Texas?
Thanks!
Martin
1. Yes 2. Yes
Thank you!
No problem
I dont usually carry such a large bench but accumulated some solid guys after some early injuries. Basically I have have been interchanging these 6 guys in my utility spot, leaving me with 4 of them always on the bench. Would like to drop at least one to open room for a reliever (holds league) or streamer.
Tellez
Mateo
Gurriel Jr
Seiya Suzuki
Miranda
Royce Lewis
Its a keeper league, and would likely have option to keep one of Lewis, Suzuki, and Miranda around 10th round value next year. My initial thoughts is to drop one of Miranda or Lewis. Thoughts on who would be the drop were I to make one? Having hard time working a trade.
*I have two utility spots
Lewis
Can you rank these SPs ROS E Rodriguez, Severino, Wood, Cobb, J Mont, Winder, Wacha thans Grey!
JoMo, E Rodriguez, Severino
I have a bench spot I can stash someone…so would you stash Lewis or Gorman?
Lewis
Would you trade Lux for C Joe?
Yes
Would’ve been funnier if you said Momoah
Sigh
Dang, that is good!
Trade help:
My Luis Robert and Berrios
For
Soto
Or
Same two for Acuna
I’d take Soto or Acuna
ESPN Points, deep league
ROS
Civale
Quantrill
Ryu
Please rank
None are good
You ranked them tho
Hi Grey,
Franmil is available on my waiver wire. Would you grab him over Renfroe, L. Gurriel, or Duvall? Thanks!
Over Renfroe
Thanks! Follow up question. Would you drop Rainey for R. Montero? 6×6 Holds and Saves league.
Sure
Hey Grey,
QS league. Would you consider holding onto Lorenzen for one more start? He’s got the A’s in Oakland in a few days..
Or should I drop him for some batty calls and streams?
Thanks!
Eric
Yes, vs. A’s is fine
Do you think Verdugo fill figure it out? Getting frustrated with his lack of production
I think he’ll be fine eventually, but not much upside to wait around on
Grey,
Moncada for Freddy Peralta straight up a good deal? keeper league. H2H
thinking of rather rostering Bohm and Miranda instead of Moncada
Freddy, it’s not close
Twins suddenly find themselves with too many bats for too few positions. How do you think the playing time will sort out once Correa returns – do they keep Royce on the roster, maybe move him to left field? Then you have Miranda and Kiriloff who can switch off at 1b and DH – do you think the Twins keep both of them on the roster? Sano looks to be out for several months which will help. Thanks.
Royce will be gone
1) Gore or Kirby?
2) Luzardo or Jurby?
3) Barlow (Tx) or Duran (Min)?
Kirby
2. Kirby
3. Barlow
Hello Grey,
Hope everything’s going good for you.
10 tm h2h weekly pts
Who should I drop for Kirby – Clevinger or Gonsolin?
Always, big THANKS!!
Meh, neither
You have Gonsolin over Luzardo and Gore? Why? Thanks.
Gore might get bumped from rotation, Luzardo’s command worries me — Luzardo or him are a coin flip
How would you rank McGee, pagan and staumont for saves moving forward?
Pagan, Staumont
Hey Grey, 12 team, H2H. I have Sonny Gray coming off DL Who do you recommend dropping? Gray, Nestor, JoMo, Peralta, Berrios…thanks for your hard work man.

I’m not going to directly address the insanity of the Red Sox in sending Duran down to get Kike and Dalbec more playing time. Assuming they come to their senses sometime soon, is it worth holding Duran in roto? I can’t imagine any of the corpses they have in the lineup are going to turn it around anytime soon. Thanks!
Nah, lose him
Grey,
I am writing the name “Olivares,” but inside of the the “O,” it’s a sad face. This leaves me with the question again if I should replace Verdugo or not in my 12 team 5×5 roto. He still seems like he’s hitting ball hard and has a .285 xba. Just don’t know if the juice is worth the squeeze, ya know? Available on the wire:
-Margot
-Marsh
-Nimmo
-Thomas
-Laureano
-Bader
Someone also dropped Gallegos right around the time it looked like Helsley was the guy. I actually picked up Helsley in addition to my other RPs: J Barlow, Lopez, Robertson. Would you drop any of the above for Gallegos?
Lastly, would you drop C. Javier for Kirby since he’s back to RP work? or Hold?
Thank you, as per ushe’
-IANASM
And they say you’re not smart, you sound smart to me!
Nimmo
Barlow for Gallegos
Awww shucks. Thanks, Grey!
But it’s too late to change my name now, and there’s lots of season left for me to screw this up.
I pulled a fast one on you and edited my post with a last minute question… Drop or Hold Javier for Kirby? JoMo, Cobb, Gore all available as well.
Hmm, maybe not so smart after all…Drop Javier for Kirby
Dad? is that you??
Thanks again! Hope you have a good week
You too!
Hey Grey
Would you drop Joc Pederson for (He is 1 for 22 last 7 games)
Alex Thomas, Drury or Yastrzemski
12 team
Thanks
Nope
16tm league deep rosters
Trade Lourdes G.Jr for M.Stroman?
A.Meadows would take Gurriels spot in my OF
My current P looks like this
SP
Wheeler($16 keeper)
Pablo Lopez
J.Luzardo
C.Javier
J.Gray
C.Paddack
RP
Iglesias
Duran
D.Williams
R.Helsley
M.King
The WW is barely rosterable players and I was apparently asleep at the wheel while drafting SP in this league.
Nah on Stroman
Good Morning Grey!
Lineup question for you-
Suzuki (@SD, @ARZ) who has been ice cold
Or
Franmil (@CHW, @MIN) who has been on a tear over the last week.
I was leaning towards Franmil because of the recent trends but the Robot significantly favors Seiya, has him 70 spots higher. Which way would you go?
Thanks!!!
Franmil
Hi Grey, thanks as usual and hope you had a good weekend!
10-teamer points league, all counting stats, I finally had to move on from Whit Merrifield. 109 PAs and a wRC+ of 1. Sorry, also 3 SBs the last of which was almost a month ago.
Q1: Justified dropping Whit?
Next, now I’m in 2B limbo. Currently rostering Brendan Rodgers (seemed to be warm), but Owen Miller, César Hernandez both available. As it turns out, another manager dropped Ketel Marte to take Whit, so he’s in the mix in two days time.
Q2/3: Is Miller the best pick up right now in the league? If not, who’s your pick?
Thanks. Sorry for the 2B train-wreck questions.
1. Nah
2. Miller
3 solid K guys going today: Rodon, Woodruff, and Cortes (though I think Cortes hasn’t hit the over in the past 2 starts)…
-Cortes v. TEX @ 6.5 Ks
-Woodruff @ CIN @ 6.5 Ks
-Rodon v. Col @ TBD.. i’m gonna assume 7.5 or 8.5 tho
Under on Cortes, over on other two
Hi Grey,
Hope you had a great weekend. Sorry if I missed the answer to this question:
1. Would you start Oakland’s Paul Blackburn on the road against Detroit on. May 9th?
2. Would you start Blackburn at home against the Angels on May 14?
Thanks!
Martin
1. Sit 2. Start
Thanks!
No problem
Kirilloff or Alek Thomas over Happ, Grisham, Winker, or Avisail Garcia?
Hold
Last one Grey, thanks for helping me sort through my SP train wreck.
Sit Javier vs (Wash). JoMo @CHW or Tyler Anderson vs Phi for Nick Martinez vs CHC.
I am leaning towards Javier…thanks.
Javier
Thanks a lot.
No problem
Pick one to drop:
Nelson Cruz, Oneil Cruz, Brandon Nimmo, Wilmer Flores, Josh Rojas, Jesus Sanchez
Due to the scarcity of power and Flores’s position as the #3 hitter in one of MLB’s best offense (seriously though), I think I’m between Oneil Cruz and Josh Rojas as the drop. Given that Rojas is playing now and should provide the 10/10 that Oneil Cruz might provide whenever the Pirates feel like using a good player… keep Rojas and drop Cruz?
Oneil
I can only start one this week. Who ya got?
Kershaw home PHIL
Cole road CHW
