Superlatives, friends, are floating away, just out of our grasp, but let’s try. Precede with accolades: Ranger Suarez (7 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 1.36) moved his record to 9-0. He’s the 4th pitcher in the Live Ball Era with nine wins through his first 10 starts, and an ERA of 1.50 or lower. The Live Ball Era is since baseball started putting Mexican jumping beans in the baseball. Ready for some names? I knew you would be! The other pitchers were Ubaldo Jimenez (lol), Juan Marichal (oh, okay, we’re not playing now) and Sal Maglie (who, apparently, wasn’t the proper name for Magilla the Gorilla). Went back and watched old clips of Juan Marichal and that no one tried to replicate that pitching motion means we’re the lesser for it. Ranger Suarez is also the first Phils pitcher to do it since Grover Cleveland Alexander, who later changed his name to Grover Cleveland Guardians. Ranger Suarez is insane. 9.3 K/9, 1.6 BB/9, 2.64 xFIP (!!!), 57.1% GB%, .218 wOBA, 84.1 MPH average exit velocity, and on and on. He’s basically giving up weak-sauce dribblers to his 2nd baseman, and that’s it. The big question is can it continue? Not to this extent, but he’s gonna need some bad luck to not have a 20-win season and a sub-3 ERA. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Bryce Harper – 2-for-3, 2 runs and his 11th homer, hitting .280. Just thought of something, Harper is Mormon, and he homers after every child of his is born. You see where I’m going with this? Big Love equals many homers!
Corey Seager – 1-for-5 and his 7th homer, hitting .246. Saberhagenmetrics is supposed to be a goof, but Seager’s made it his way of life.
Kris Bryant – 0-for-4 as he was activated, hitting .137. To make room, the Rockies sent down Sean Bouchard, who has easily been better the last three years, and never plays. Yes, he’s been up and down with the Rockies since 2022! “Hang in there.” That’s what it says on a cat paragliding poster that Jo Adell sent Bouchard.
Ryan McMahon – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 8th homer, 2nd homer in as many games. I am going to howl when the Rockies re-sign McMahon to a 10-year, $300m deal.
Nolan Jones – Pausing his rehab with knee soreness. The world’s longest sigh.
Ezequiel Tovar – 2-for-5 and his 6th and 7th homer. Sound the shofar for Tovar!
Abraham Toro – 1-for-4 and his 5th homer, hitting .294. That;s three homers this month and he’s hitting near-.350. Went to look if he was pulled late due to injury, and I’m not sure if that extremely sad or not. Like a sushi chef, I have a lot riding on Toro.
Seth Brown – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer, and 2nd homer in three games. Could be a hot schmotato, but if you’re picking up Seth Brown, question: How did things get so bad?
Kyle Hendricks – Moved to the pen. Someone should pen his goodbye letter then DFA him. Presumably, Jordan Wicks will take over for Hendricks when he’s ready to go. From Hendricks to Wicks, it’s the –Icks shuffle.
Adbert Alzolay – Getting a 2nd opinion on his forearm. Hopefully the doctor isn’t someone who drafted him for saves.
Javier Assad – 4 2/3 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 1.70. After being great for almost two straight years, he just needed me to pick him up.
Michael Harris II – 1-for-5 and a slam (5) and legs (7). Also, Orlando Arcia (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) hit his 5th homer. That’s cool, guys. Hey real question, has anyone seen Ozzie Albies? He didn’t quit to model short clothes, did he?
Charlie Morton – 5 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 3.35. Not sure why but I always get unreasonably scared about Wrigley. Okay, I know why, because the winds are blowing in 80 MPH one second and out the next and it becomes Glenallen Hill Derby.
Shohei Ohtani – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 1 RBI and his 12th and 13th steal, hitting .356. How is he not a top three draft pick every year?
Christian Walker – 1-for-4 and his 9th homer. Onward Christian Walker!
Joc Pederson – 2-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer, hitting .321, and near-.350 this month with four homers. Joc gets hot and he never cools off until he does. Like my motto says, it makes sense if you don’t think about it.
Brandon Pfaadt – 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 4.05. Took two giant grapenuts to start him in Dodger Stadium, and, if you did, you’re crazy as Pfaack.
Chas McCormick – 0-for-3 as he was activated from the IL. That’s nice, the Asstros should absolutely not bench Jake Meyers (2-for-3, hitting .301).
Yordan Alvarez – 2-for-4 and his 9th homer, hitting .265. 41 more! Ha, maybe we should be happy with 40 total.
Kyle Tucker – 2-for-4, 3 runs and his 16th and 17th homer, hitting .293. See, I kinda get why he’s hitting 2nd. Joe Espada would hit Tucker 2nd through 9th if he could.
Cristian Javier – 4 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 3.89. If you drop him, he will go on a Ranger Suarez-type run. Don’t you owe it to him to drop him?
Jon Singleton – 1-for-2, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer. Supposedly, the Astros are bringing back Jose Abreu this Friday, so, uh, why?
Luis Rengifo – 2-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 3rd homer, hitting .316, and finally regularly hitting towards the top of the lineup. MLB managers are so dumb. It took Washington six weeks to figure out what everyone knew about Rengifo. Same story as Nolan Schanuel (3-for-5, 1 run) too. Wash still has no idea what to do with Adell, even though somehow Willie Calhoun is the go-to cleanup hitter. Make it make sense!
Kevin Pillar – 1-for-4 and his 5th homer. One the top hitters on the 7-day Player Rater, which is so funny. Sneeze on JRod for me!
Ty France – 2-for-4 and his 5th homer. A French fly!
Dylan Moore – 3-for-4, 4 RBIs and his 5th and 6th homer. I don’t know if this passes a “science” test, but if the Mariners played in Yankee Stadium, I think they’d be a good power team. Well, except JRod. Whatever happened to him is anyone’s guess.
Luke Raley – 1-for-5 and his 4th homer, and hitting around .450 this month. A smoldering schmotato.
Bryan Woo – 6 IP, 0 ER, 2 hits, zero walks, 7 Ks, ERA at 0.57, as he threw a walloping 77 pitches. Thank God he’s economical with balls, because he’s got the stamina of a middle reliever. Clearly, he’s got immense potential. Maybe he’ll be able to throw 85 pitches one day.
Gleyber Torres – 1-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 3rd homer, hitting .223. Still believe in him, but it’s starting to get to the point where the people who I tell to hold Gleyber are already looking at our fantasy football content.
Casey Mize – 1 2/3 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 4.57. Regression Fairies hate what you’ve done with your hair and your chances at winning your league.
Alec Marsh – 6 IP, 3 ER, 7 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.72. Watched him because felt like there would be questions. It was a super easy matchup and, yeah, pretty solid. Five-pitch mix, 83 MPH curve that’s nasty, relies on a 94 MPH high fastball, quality change and a very nice slider. Wasn’t what I would call impressed. It wasn’t like I was watching Skenes or Jared Jones, but he gets the Twins next, and I’ll be watching and picking him up in some leagues.
Bobby Witt Jr. – 3-for-4, 3 runs, 6 RBIs and a double slam (6, 7) and legs (16), hitting .304. BWJ! Bobby With Jattidude! Doesn’t work at all, does it? Yeah.
Maikel Garcia – 4-for-5, 3 runs, 1 RBI, hitting .263. Thought this week was Michael Massey’s schmotato run. Hmm…
Garrett Crochet – 6 IP, 0 ER, 3 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.75. White Sux vs. the Jays is like the Youtube video titled, “Two Losers Fight.”
Eloy Jimenez – Left the game with a hamstring strain. That is shocking. I am shocked. No way. Impossible.
Cooper Criswell – 5 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 2.86 vs. Zack Littell – 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.42. This matchup was billed as, “Exhibit 14,560,098 how much pitching there is.” In fairness, there was about 17 exhibits, then they started skipping numbers.
Jarren Duran – 1-for-3, 2 runs and a slam (3) and legs (11), hitting .271. Happy he’s hitting leadoff, content with his average, would love a bit more speed. [holds thumb and pinkie together, gets into yogi pose] Speak it into existence…
Byron Buxton – 2-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 2nd and 3rd homer, hitting .257. He finally figured out what the problem in his swing was: He needed to face Patrick Corbin.
Willi Castro – 1-for-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 4th homer, hitting .267. Castro catsup to that ball! No? Okay.
Jose Miranda – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 4th homer, and 2nd homer in three games. Hot schmotato alert? Sure, but also I hate Baldelli so much. Twins were easily winning this game, he did not have to remove Miranda to hit Kepler. That’s just stupid.
Ji Hwan Bae – 1-for-3, 2 runs and his 1st steal, as he was recalled. That recalling went like this, “How can we get Olivares out of the lineup? Oh, I have an idea!” If you neeed steals in an NL-Only, then let Bae be your bae.
Trevor Rogers – 3 2/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 6.11. Not sure what happened to all the Marlins’ great pitching, but they are in the toilet and no one’s flushing.
Robert Gasser – 6 IP, 4 ER, 10 hits, zero walks, zero Ks, ERA at 2.65. Gasser [makes farting noise with hand in armpit]
Matt Chapman – 2-for-5 and his 6th homer, hitting .243, and 10 for his last 15. When you say schmotato, I say hot! Schmotato…hot! Schmotato…hot! Schmohawk…hot–damn! Got me!
Joe Musgrove – 3 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 5.93 as he was activated from the IL. I wouldn’t have drafted Musgrove, and still wouldn’t pick him up. But other than, good luck!
Andrew Abbott – 7 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 2.68. Wouldn’t go Abbott over a lot of people. Abbott over Musgrove? Yes. Abbott over Costello. Absolutely. Abbott over the Dodgers in his next start, which the Streamonator hates? No.
Starling Marte – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer, hitting .261. Well, he’s no Ketel Marte, but Starling has curbed his career downward slide this year a bit. A resounding endorsement!
Mark Vientos – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 2nd homer, hitting .360. Just hitting him vs. lefties has to be the stupidest thing the Mets have done in a while, and that’s like an expert-level limbo bar.
Carlos Carrasco – Hit the IL with “Hey, you were once great, and inspiring, but this is kinda over now, isn’t it?” Unclear how long he’ll be out.
David Fry – 1-for-1, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer, hitting .338. With catcher eligibility in most leagues. Um, hello beautiful. I’m American, I love Fry’d shizz. Let’s go! He’ll be in this Friday’s Buy column, because of course, which will be available later today on Patreon and Friday here.
Xzavion Curry – 4 1/3 IP, 2 ER, ERA at 1.93. Fun fact! His name translates to when you accidentally drop your Scrabble tiles into a saag paneer.
Xzavion Curry hall of fame comment there….still laughing my ass off!!!!!
Ha, thanks!
White Sux should trade for Buxton. That would be an outfield!
Why am I getting a Billy Hamilton vibe from ELDC? The *WOW* games, 4 SBs, stealing home, etc where you shake your head and say this guy is a freak, a far and few between. Beginning to wonder if waiting for those WOW games once every few weeks, and then doing little to nothing else in the interim is worth the carrying charge?
Chapman, jfc.
Keeper league. OBP keep 13 forever. Please rank: Matos, Fry, Schneider, Frelick
Please add Buxton
Davis, matos
Which side you taking:
Shohei + FTJ
Acuna + Tucker
Tucker
Pfaadt or JoMo? Pretty sick of Montgomery
Pfaadt
Howdy,
Looking for RBI, OBP and HR
How would you rank Toro, Raley, Bauers, Wade Jr?
You did
12 team H2H mixed categories. I have been stashing Caminero for a few weeks now, but my team is light on power due to some under performing hitters. Would you drop Caminero for Gorman or continue to hold and hope the Rays bring him up soon?
Go with Gorman
Which do u prefer
Schimdt at SD or
Stroman at SD?
Stroman
Remember I bitched about how one of my opponents started Anderson against TEX 2 weeks ago? Another one started him again HOU today. Am I missing something? I haven’t had 1 pitcher give up under 3 ER to the White Sox this season.
Factor in one of my opponents has Correa and Kepler today, in another league in 1-14 with Gimenez on my bench? In that same league I’m down 0-9 and my opponents team consists of – Kile Hernandez, Brandon Donovan, Luis Rengifo, Happ, Mullins, Connor Joe w/ Yordan, Judge, Xander whose on the IL and Contreras + has the pitching rotation of Marsh, Suarez, and Wacha and Cortez, I see why I’m down 0-9 lol.
Weird year.
Oh, should I drop Julio Rodriguez? I mean we’re 2 months in now and bupkiss. Same with Tatis and Harris 2. If I stream and bench them that’s when they’re catch fire.
Wouldn’t drop JRod
Hey Grey! When do I move on from India? Tovar and Neto are available?
Go with Tovar
Hey Grey, always enjoy reading your answers to the barrage of trade questions. I have one I’m really torn on:
Give: JRam, Rodon
Get: Corbin Burnes, Christian Walker
League details: 6×6 Roto (OPS, QS as categories)
My team is currently sitting around the top in all hitting categories and struggling in pitching (dead last in ERA and H/9)
Losing JRam would hurt, but currently using Joey Ortiz + O’hearn as my 2nd Corner IF spot, with Royce Lewis and Caminero waiting in the wings.
Worth taking for the SP upgrade?
Thanks!
Thanks! Hold
Appreciate the response! I naturally lean towards stud hitters over stud pitchers as is common, but figured I could use a perspective check since it’s a/the top pitcher we’re talking about here. Thanks for the validation
No problem
Grey, longtime follower/member, first question ever. Bit of a dilemma with Pepiot coming off IL and have to waive a SP. Pitchers are…..
Gausman
K Crawford
T Bibee
Crochet
Kikuchi
Luzardo
Skenes and of course Pepiot now. Thanks
Can lose Crochet
Are we buying into masyn Winn for the rest of the season?
Sure
Orioles swept for the first time in 107 series!
Cards are back, baby!
They just needed that rain delay to remove Means from the picture.
Ha, yeah
I think first time since Rutch called up.
Yep
I’ve been traveling and a bit of out of loop lately (and my teams all sliding as a result, boooo), so apologies if this has been answered already: why is Jared Jones’ value in the trade analyzer negative? Is he on a pitch limit?
If this is some oversight, then what is his actual trade value? Around Cole Ragans, or a bit better? Would trading Teoscar for him be fair?
Prolly on an IP limit…I’d take Teoscar
I’ve got a logjam at 2B in a 12 team dynasty. Out of Gimenez, Keith, and Luis Garcia who would you look to deal?
Would you trade Cowser/ A. Gimenez for Houck/ Jasson Dominguez?
Don’t think you can get anything for Keith or Garcia…I’d take Houck
Thanks! I realize I need Gimenez’s runs.
Which side are you taking here? Keith/Cowser for Houck and a draft pick
Houck
Pablo and Altuve too much for J-Ram?
No
Hey Grey.
Other team offered me Jarred Jones (will be innings limit) and J-Ram for Pablo and Altuve. He wants to get Pablo before he gets hot.
Which side? Take it?
JRam side
Riley not in lineup…
Hahaha
Would you sell N. Jones for Crochet? He’s o Lu projected for maybe 85-90 more IP.
Sure
Wasn’t able to Rafaela for Julien a few days ago, still sick of Juliens performance lately even though he’s a streaky player. Would you drop him for any of these guys:
Oswaldo Cabrera
Gorman
Brendan Donovan
Eugenio Suarez
Jorge Polanco
Manzardo
Loperfido
Noelvi Marte
If there is more than 1 guy you’d pickup over Julien can you list them in top 2 ranked? Just so if I miss out on one in the waivers I can have a backup guy.
Think Gorman is hot, but then he was taken out of the lineup –Julien, Gorman
Thanks!
No problem
First trade ask of the season for me. Here it goes:
QS and OPS h2h categories league
Parades + Grayson Rodriguez
or
Abrams + Kikuchi
CJ
Rank top 3 SPs ros pts league:
Darvish, Gil, Lugo, Ragans, Skenes
Ragans, Lugo, Yu
Streamonator loves Ryan Feltner (@OAK) tomorrow. In Streamonator we trust? Or bad robot?
Bad robot
who would the astros start looking to trade as they look towards next season?
Pressly? Framber? I dont know
Dont look now but Astros only 5 games out of first…
Crazy to think how important it will be to draft in the top 4/5 next year..
Choice of Witt Jr, EDLC, Tucker, Ohtani gives you such an advantage
Until they become Acuna, JRod or Corbin this year
ha good point, how quick the tables can turn I suppose
Ha
Pfaadt over Steele, Bryce Miller, or Kikuchi?
Yimi Garcia over David Robertson in a Saves/Holds league?
Thanks!
Over Steele, but would wait to see how he looked in his next start
Yimi, yes
Yeah, I thought I’d wait and see how Steele does with Atlanta tonight and Miller does with the Yanks. Both tough matchups tonight. Thanks!
No problem
Steele and Miller both blew up! Ugh. So now what? Who you think is better ROS? Do you think Steele is hurt?
Royals trash can Skubal at the Kauff. Can never see Skubal’s name without thinking of the off ramp 405 northbound as you head from Westwood into the valley.
Was at the Skirball recently for an industry event where Margot Robbie was at…I went Skrewballs
Whadya say to her?
moogly googly….I didn’t say anything, I took a creepy picture lol https://x.com/Razzball/status/1761448727208951910
What a pleasant surprise! I had Margot Kidder in my head for some reason (though she was something before electricity, as Al Czervik would say).
“Joe Musgrove – 3 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 5.93 as he was activated from the IL. I wouldn’t have drafted Musgrove, and still wouldn’t pick him up. But other than, good luck!”
this is the sign to absolutely pick him up anywhere he’s available, boys. I’ve never seen Grey be right about anything lol
how many names you working under every 3 days with this stuff.
Who’s the drop to pick up Nootbar? 5×5 roto
Pham
Marsh
Tauchman
Lourdes.
Tauch
Eloy Jiménez is nicknamed “Big Baby”. Not kidding. For reals. Google it.
Haha
Dumb trade question…. Adolis G, Sean Murphy and Matty Chap for Jonny Deluca and Austin Riley. There is context to the trade but what do you think on the surface?
Adolis side
(1) David Fry or Yanier Diaz?
(2) IL STASH) — Casas or Nolan Jones?
Fry
Jones
Buxton & Chapman available
Which to grab, who’s the drop?
N. Jones, Kwan, Cowser
(or hold, not worth it?)
thanks guy
Bux over Jones
What level do you view Arozarena ROS? Top 50, 100, 150? Will he be “Randy Baby” (best Austin Powers voice)?
Which side do you have?
Randy/Elly or Harper/Ozuna?
Top50
Elly
Hey Grey, thoughts on Springs as a pickup for this season? I’m pretty far down in the standings, and could use a boost even if I have to wait on him for another month or more (could be good trade bait in our keeper league if I’m still out of it later). Would only be losing someone like Civale or Braxton Garrett.
Nah
Would you start Snell today first game back from IL Grey?
He @ PIT
My league has IP limits so can be selective
Also, is Musgrove a drop in 12 team mixers ? He’s been brutal
Yes
Drop
Grey
Thanks again.
1. I have him stashed, I would if I had room 2. I think he’s hurt…I dont know…just guessing…He looks awful tho, and I’d try to get out in a redraft
there were reports that he changed something in his swing due to his still not fixed shoulder a bit ago somewhere. would explain his utterly disgusting inability to drive the ball almost ever.
Ah
Hey to the Hey, Grey!
You think Foley is a drop or a hold? I know you think it should be Lange, but Foley’s still got far and away the most saves for the Kitties . . . but I also don’t think they’ve had an opportunity for more than two weeks. So, who knows?
No lurves? I’dhold Foley unless there’s better waiver options
Oh. My. Goodness.
HOW could I forget: LURRRRRRRRRRRRVEYAS!!!!!
and thanks!
Haha, No problem
Are we done with Gasser for the short-term?
Yes
If Duran struggles consider swapping him for one of these guys?
Sewald
Garrett
Megill
Sewald
12-team h2h. Would you drop any of Bryan de la Cruz, McCormick, Nimmo, or Bassitt (if he gets shelled tonight) for Chapman? I currently have Gunnar at 3b but Bichette at SS.
Chas
You mentioned on the podcast that you don’t necessarily catch every drop because there are so many. But, you may have noticed Darvish being dropped and forgotten. He’s been available since Cram dropped him April 15. So, none of his 4 scoreless outings have been used in Perts.
Damn, that’s ridiculous….I must’ve had one of those, no?
My apologies. You did use him for the third one. I thought you had picked him up after that game.
Ah, yeah, thought I remembered one, which was why I held him…then benched him for his Braves start, lol
jebus, what are there 10 other dead owners in that league. good god that’s nuts. i have no idea how many SP’s are owned in that, but unless it’s like an 8 teamer with maybe 3 SP’s per team at any given time, and EVEN then that’s funny that nobody streamed him at least once.
He was dropped in one of my leagues while on the IL. I immediately scooped. I kinda get it, he’s 37 and hasn’t been the model of consistency over the years. But in this SP landscape? Seems crazy
Back to taking some healthy hacks, really like the way Miranda has been swinging the bat. Playing mostly everyday now, love his upside and think his light finally came on. Do you think he’s starting to meet his potential?
Could be, I like him a lot, so it would be nice to see
hear ya, punishing the ball lately. Have a Greyt day!
Thanks!
Saves. Yates or McArthur.
Yates
Which side?
Jrod or abrams and oneill
CJ
Pick two for the bench here:
Sal Perez, Ryan Jeffers, Vlad, Adell, Stanton.
You have to pick at least one catcher. Is it crazy that I’m considering playing two? With David Fry on waivers, how hard should I be trying to sell Sal?
Perez, Vlad
I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess that the question was confusing and you have that reversed. Or are you really saying you start Jeffers, Adell and Stanton and bench Sal and Vlad? I figured Sal was the first pick to play…
didn’t follow question
Sorry, I’ll try again. Start three players, bench two from this list. Have to pick at least one catcher.
Sal, Vlad, Adell, Stanton, Jeffers
He answered. Between my hitters and you guys on here I can’t pick between which are worse. Both are garbage.
Start Sal, Vlad, Adell
Thanks for the follow-up Grey!
Captain Obviuos, my first question was super confusing and asked who to bench not who to start. I figured Grey picking Sal first was a dead giveaway that he was answering who to start not who to bench.
They’re all top 100 hitters except Vlad! It was really asking for permission to start Sal at 1B and Jeffers at C and bench Vlad, which Grey denied. Vlad’s the only one who’s really been garbage.
12 team 5×5 cat league.
1. Marte, Matos 2. 1st
Thank you
No problem
Hey Grey! 12 man 5×5 h2h keeper league.
Would you rather Wheeler or Ranger Suarez?
Thanks pal!
FONT!!
Wheeler
Font!
10tm H2H with OPS and QS would you trade Sale and T.O’Neill for A.Riley and Pablo Lopez?
Pablo
What about Sale and a keepable Jackson Merrill for Riley and Pablo?
Riley side, not close
Are you starting Triston today against the Mets? Recent results are good, peripherals are …not.
Are either Seiya and/or Steer holds in 10-team?
Yes, start, or drop Triston
They’re holds
I have Ohtani in a keeper league and I can’t imagine him not being a top 3 pick. It amazed me when the rankings came out each of the last couple of years and he was ranked somewhere around #11 or #12. It makes no sense to me either.
Yeah
the industry was very very slow to say i don’t know use a player rater (or basic sense), rudy’s here had him as number 1 (i’m saying years where he pitches and hits) every time or at least almost every time. seems pretty easy, a top 20 SP + a top 10-15ish (better than that this year) hitter in same player, minus in most formats 1/5 or earlier 1/6 of his hitting stats if you don’t get those when you start him pitching on that day.
12 team mixed roto league, can you please rank Rengifo, Doyle, Castellanos ROS?
Thanks!
You ranked them
I thought so, thanks again.
Where does Santander fit into the list above, between Doyle and Cast?
Is it safe to drop Yennier Cano in a saves (no holds) league? Feels like Kimbrel is back in the closer seat.
I’d put him last…kinda depends on needs — you can lose Cano
12tm OBP league questions
C: Fry or Jeffers
1B: Schanuel or O’Hearn or Fry for that matter
Either of these offers balanced
Hoerner for Ragans or Yamamoto
Thanks
Jeffers
Schnauel
I’d take Nico for Ragans
Grey –
Points League
Adell or J. Lowe ROS
Thanks
Lowe
Thank you!
No problem
Read that O.Cruz 1st MLB player to have 3 hits in 1 game over 115 mph and hardest hit for anyone all year. Waiting for that official breakout!
Here’s hoping it comes as fast as his line drives
Also – D. Schneider or L. Garcia at 2B. Currently have Davis. Thanks!
Seems fine
Thanks man. Similar question for 3b, currently rostering J. Ortiz. Toro and Chapman available on waivers. Hold?
Hold
Pronto! Grey- I have Vlad at 1B, but also have Christian Walker.. I’m thinking of exploring trading Vlad for a different elite bat, maybe OF or 2B, maybe someone who has had a slow start… What are some names you’d target? thanks
CJ Abrams? Adolis? Gimenez?
I’m thinking of big game hunting.. JRod is on last place team..
Ive got tons of pitching.. package Vlad with one of these guys…
Gausman, Fried, Imonaga, Skenes, SGray, Ober
Which do u like, for a reasonable offer that might have a chance?
spanks
Vlad and Gray or Skenes works for me
Grey, was offered Yandy for my J. Flaherty. Right now I’m starting Joey Ortiz at 3rd. Hold? Can Ortiz be a season long solution?
Hold
Thanks Grey
No problem
Someone. Dropped crochet. Pickup? 1st on waivers.
drop kyle harrison, e diaz or megill (brewers)
Sure, over Harrison
CJ Abrams has been struggling in May, use this to trade Nola and Thario for him or hold? I have good depth and no category or stat specifically needed.
I’d take CJ
12 Team H2H 6×6 QS Redraft
Please rank the top 3 IL stash options:
M. Kelly, D. Williams, Springs, Eflin
Thank you
Devin, Eflin, Springs
I got an itch that Wood is close to be called up soon. I need to make room. Do you think its safe to drop Ryan O’Hearn for him? (NOTE: I may have an empty OF or Util slot if I do this and something goes sideways with Adolis Garcia)
Sure
Gracias. Have a great day!
No problem
just worry about the crowd in Wash with Thomas coming back, Rosario, Winker, Young, Robles. I mean Wood should be up but on the business side how are they going to manage that? They have had Thomas, Winker and Robles be out and still haven’t promoted him. Feel like there is a move coming, but when?
Winker is released?
Weekly OPS league. Punting saves, so I have a boatload of SP. Need to clear roster space and get a little more thump in my lineup.
Give: Shota, Andres Gimenez
Get: Altuve
Staff: Kirby, Ragans, Imanaga, Ober, GrayRod, Jared Jones, Skenes, Woo, Pepiot, Crochet, Kutter, Schmidt (with Gerrit Cole on the IL).
Shota
Maikel Garcia or Matt Chapman ROS?
Maikel
Thank you, dear Mustached Mogul!
No problem
At least your boy AJ Puk looked good
Yeah
Taylor Ward, castellanos or Tyler o’ Niell ROS?
Ward
Who would the drop be? I own all 3

Morning Grey!
Nice write up! I had a philosophical fantasy baseball question for you. When a guy is coming off a fantastic game like Maikel Garcia did last night and then immediately faces a top of the rotation guy the next day… do you start him in hopes he’s just locked in? or do you play the match up?
Thanks as always!
-IANASM
Thanks! Start him
This was excellent advice. Thank you! They called me David Bell before I found you, Grey!
HA
Murphy or Jeffers once Murphy is back? I think Murphy is a better bat but might split time with D’arnaud close to 50/50.
Ryan
Has anyone else noticed, with the exception of Batting Average/OBP, both Carroll and Julio’s numbers are eerily similar?
Yeah
any evidence j-rod also has an unfixed injured shoulder though, if not he’s on the train to be the “worst value at draft cost player of the year”; at least carroll everybody had to pretend they were ignorant of that.
Rengifo or Doyle
Start Luzardo vs Brewers
Luis
Yes
Freeman and Jeremy Pena for Naylor and Lindor. Which side? Trade analyzer says Freeman side, but I would have guessed the opposite.
Naylor
Woo (41) and Joe Ryan (98) each earned their first entry on the 100 Best Fantasy Starts list. Lance Lynn still has a remote chance to join them if the Cardinals can score in the 6th and hold on for the win.
Mize was able to knock Trevor Rogers out of the bottom 10.
Mize, brutal…Thanks, Vin!
So, the Cardinals did score in the 6th and hold on for the win, meaning Lynn will end up somewhere between Woo and Ryan with his quality start vs the Orioles: 6 IP/0 ER/2 baserunners/5 K.
Ah, nice!
Hey Grey. Looking forward to the Buy post this afternoon. Should I drop Mountcastle for Fry?
Nah
Ranger Danger …..he is amazing to watch this year …thats all i got
Ha, I dont know it
Good Morning & Happy National Boss Babe Day (& craft distillery day)!
So, let’s throw back a snifter (or 6) of some craft whiskey to celebrate!
On a related note, the below players were just poured out by my homies (dropped). Anyone worth putting a claim in for? If so, who would you cut (Full roster below)?

12-team, 6×6 (OBP/QS)
C: Will Smith
1B: Harper
2B: Altuve
3B: Westburg
SS: Maikel Garcia

UTL: Oneil Cruz, Yandy Diaz,
BN: Vinnie P, Seiya
SP: Pablo Lopez, Steele, Pepiot, Kremer, Logan Allen, Detmers, R. Blanco, Braxton Garrett
RP: Hader, Bednar, Hudson (can start 3 max)
IL:, Evan Phillips, Langford, DeGrom
NA (minor league stash spot): Max Meyer
Thanks as always & slainte!
Woke up to Boss Babe Day? Ugh…Don’t see anyone to drop…
toro or gorman as a backup?
Toro
Morning Grey!
Thanks for the write-up! a Masterpiece as usual.
Also, as usual, none of my players are mentioned. (save, Alzolay. lol)
Guess how my team is doing?
Sadz.
Ha, thanks!
who knew all the Angels needed to get the offense going was a series against the Astros and now they face Hunter Brown today. This is probably as good as it gets for them to pad those offensive stats
Ha, yup
Drop India for Dylan Moore or Thairo Estrada? 12-team H2H OPS league if it matters.
Thairo
Danke
No problem
One more, same league. Would you drop Raleigh for Fry?
No
Cool. Shnorhakalutiun!
Haha
Pls rank: Rafaella, Neto, D Moore?
Neto, Ceddanne
@Grey: weekly roto redraft. Was offered Bichette for Christian Scott and Taj. Accept?
Works for me
@Grey: he said he would take Taj or Gore as a second pitcher. Who do you like more for this year between Taj and Gore?
Gore
Good morning, Grey! I have Baty in a deep keeper. Is he a drop? Would you grab Vientos or avoid the situation altogether? Thanks!
Drop
Royals trash canning? Yesterday’s Mize start was reminiscent of the Ober start. Mize and Ober both rely on pitch mix and sequencing more than raw stuff. Looked almost like they knew what was coming. Royals ops is noted hitters park Kaufman Stadium .792. Road ops .621.
Ooh, I like conspiracies! Royals are cheating!
Grey,
I know neither of these guys inspire as much confidence as they do name value…but there is an exasperated owner in our league that probably would trade Arenado or Goldschmidt for pennies on the dollar. My team is very strong but lacks a corner infielder…which of the two of them would you target (you can say neither if you wouldn’t want either even for pennies on the dollar)?
Goldy
Dynasty keep forever points league. My current 3b is Machado. Would love to acquire Gunnar. Team with Gun needs pitching and outfield. My pitching has been decimated this year: Strider, Eury, Bieber, Cole plus Steele, Bradish, Musgrove, and Woo all had IR stints; which has caused my team to start out in the bottom of the barrel (my OF mostly starting out slow hasn’t helped either). Hoping to bounce back and compete this year with upgrading at 3b for the long term. SP are Glasnow, Ryan, Fedde, Bryce Miller, Lynn, Taillon, Mize, Meyer, plus the above listed wounded/newly healthy. OF are Acuna, Harper (DH/1B technically), Carroll, Adell, Chourio, Megahertz, Ozuna. If I try to entice him to trade Gunnar, what would a couple appealing offers look like?
Mega and Corbin? Corbin and Ozuna? Mega and Ozuna? Corbin and Ryan?
Honorable Mention: Yusei Kikuchi – 6.0 IP, 2 ER, 6 Ks, ERA at 2.64. Still took the L because Blue Jays’ offence were 2 H, 0 ER, 1 E.
Not just a disgruntled Reynaldo manager, but also a disgruntled Kikuchi manager…
Ha, I hear ya
I was on Mize last night. Settled in here in NY like most civilized people to watch the Royals/Tigers game, and after an 2 innings had to pivot to a Netflix series about a Nurse who kills her patients. Mize had some bad luck in the 1st, but was a pitching machine in the 2nd. Hopefully I’m stil in the week and he can redeem himself this weekend. Agree on Vientos, guy is a disaster with the glove, but Baty needs to board the camp bus, see if he can pass for a 20 year old counselor and dominate softball.
HA, yup, brutal
What has two thumbs and won’t take the bait on these Javier blurbs? This guuuhh…uh, wait, did I just take the bait? Skibidi toilet again.
HAHA
Naylor or Ranger ?!
Naylor, apples/oranges
Should I vote against trade of Berti for Ozuna?
Guy getting Berti is in 1st place, with a roster of 80% Yankees-so he seems to know what he is doing, but Berti is like 4% rostered. Guy getting Ozuna is in 2nd place.
Yes, I don’t believe in vetoes, but what is that?
No veto. There is no collusion here, just a stupid owner. And if he is in first place and made that deal, he deserves to learn from it.
Berti for Ozuna makes no sense tho
across my 12ish years fantasy baseballing over half the vetoable deals (i mean ones where over 90% of those asked would say it’s completely awful the deal in question) are from some NYY fan twit. they usually don’t hang around long either after even if the trade was let through.
Ha
Vientos…Mets need to let him run with the job for a bit.
Any split concerns in the minors?
Does his high strikeouts rate concern you? It worries me.
He’s only facing lefties
He started against a righty yesterday for what it’s worth
I know, I’m watching, but unless I missed an announcement by the Mets (maybe, did I?) he’s a lefty only guy 85% of the time
Starting again against a righty today. Here’s hoping the Mets do the right thing and keep him in the lineup! It’s the Mets so probably not…
What does this mean for Baty? Is he just done?
Dunno. Looks like a bench bat in the short term if Vientos keeps hitting
Blech
I’m starting to think avoid everyone in Tampa not named Paredes….everyone might be in a time share at some point.
Knowing them, they will have their pitchers share hitting duties and vice versa.
Yeah, makes sense
David Fry, Buxton, or Schneider an add over BDLC, Luis García( I have Thairo, Gleyber, Stott at 2B), Matos, Adell or Heim?
Hold
My teams were skibidi toilet yesterday. KC gave Mize an Obering.
More importantly though, I’d like to very much not thank my kids for introducing me to skibidi toilet. we live in a weird world that has produced such a thing.
Skibidi toilet is amazing
Watching it made me feel like I was hovering on the brink of having a seizure that never came.
HAHAHA
How did Andrew Abbott go from 15k per 9 in 200 minor league innings to not striking anyone out in the majors. Did he change the way he pitches or was he in a bad league?
Maybe, it wouldn’t be a bad idea if it meant better ratios
Good Morning Grey
20 team standard 5&5 roto
3b bench bat ROS
Vientos or Otto Lopez
Thanks
Daily league? Vientos
Bryan Woo hit the jackpot last night (-$17.2). Any chance Bryce Miller does the same (-$16.9).
FWIW, Miller has not been good on the road, so I’m not expecting much.
I’d go with Miller
Drop Jeffers for Fry?
No
I think I know where Ozzie Albies is…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2sxtXr-lw0&pp=ygURT3p6aWUgYWxiaWVzIGZpc2g%3D
He’s cleaning his fish tank.
Oh my god he’s so funny
I honestly love that Albies is so passionate about his fish that he devotes an entire YouTube channel to it. He seems like a great dude.
Haha
Is Trevor Rogers a drop or somehow a hold in a 20tm dynasty? I need the roster space pretty badly.
Drop
I’m guessing we’re gonna have to wait until after the ASB for Julio to knock in A run. What a disappointment. And to think he was ranked 2/3. Julio /Witt, Witt/Julio. Well that’s been settled. He’s actually in the Jeff McNeil/ Charlie Blackmon neighborhood.
Ha
Yep, I get he is a slow starter but damn, never drafting him before the 3rd again. This is some BS. Carroll too and his gimpy shoulder.
Bravo. “Xzavion Curry – His name translates to when you accidentally drop your Scrabble tiles into a saag paneer.”
Ha, thanks
starting or sitting?
Luzardo v MIL
Bryce @ NYY
Steele v ATL
Thanks
Starting all, except Steele in shallow leagues
Master G of Fantasy Land!
I have an offer of their Tyler Oneil for my Freddy Peralta. I kinda hate it, but I have Trout, Yoshida, Nolan Jones on the IL.
Should I try to negotiate for yelich?
Peralta had been pretty bad. They have Yelich, Cowser, Santander, Turang.
They also have Lindor, but that’s probably not gonna happen.
Do you think Peralta is broken?
Yelich seems fair…I don’t think Freddy is broke
12 team H2H 6X6 OPS QS
Wong Pasquantino Altuve Westburg Abrams Tatis Alvarez Castellanos Util: Steer Garcia L
Steele Morton Skenes Lugo Pfaadt Singer Kremer Woo
Alvarado Yates Foley Scott T
Drop Wong for Jansen or Fry?
Drop Garcia/Steer or any P for any of:
Chourio, Mullins, Varsho, Carpenter K, Pages, Wood J
Wong for Fry
HoldUTIL
Oops, Fry was just picked up. How about Wong for Jansen? Thank you.
yes
Hey Grey! The big question: Who has a higher scrabble score, Xzavion or Yamamoto?? Also: Woo woo woo! Tho, only started him last night bc I have Schmidt, and I’m a Yanks fan, and knew if he’d pitched like that on my bench while beating my team and my other SP, I’d be crying into my coffee right now…
Haha, Xzavion is pretty amazing
For those of you that don’t understand the Glenallen Hill reference:
https://youtu.be/1NiSpQPfmI4?si=fZfvCwhInlNHHS4b
Incredible
Grey!!!
So awesome!
a. Thank you much for the advice yesterday. Started Abbott, Ryan and Gasser to shave my ERA from 3.20 to 3.14 and the WHIP from 1.140 to 1.139. Also got 2 W so again thank you much. I was kind of right, any team facing Corbin has a 75% chance to win.
b. In a standard 12-team RCL, I’m at 427.2 IP (so on pace for 1425 IP) but my ERA and WHIP are 4.00 and 1.218 so not great. Start any of these guys tonight?
1. Bassitt at home against the ChiSox (Nastrini)
2. Luzardo at home against MIL (Peralta)
3. Snell at Pittsburgh (Jared Jones)
4. Bello at TB (Pepiot fresh off the IL)
5. Bryce Miller at NYY (Cortes Jr.)
I’m thinking to start 1, 2, 3 and sit 4-5. You?
c. Chris Rock quote of the day for May 22, 2024
If a woman tells you she’s twenty and looks sixteen, she’s twelve. If she tells you she’s twenty-six and looks twenty-six, she’s damn near forty.
Cheers,
Ante
A. Nice! B. I’d start all but 4 and 5 are the riskiest C. Ha
I dropped Javier last night. But, the only reason I had him is someone else dropped him last week. So, I guess we’ll see if I am the one to start him on a great run.
Javier is gonna be one of those odd/even, up/down kind of pitchers. Great matchup at home v the hapless Angels and i sat him because he had a stellar outing last time out. So he was due for a bomber. And on cue he delivered . Next week he’s a two start. His first outing v Minny will be superb, the next @Seattle, not so much. It’s not rocket science.
Sorry bout that. Reverse the order. @ Seattle good, v Minny not so good.
Other than his start @Detroit, his ERA is 2.16.
Haha
Hi Grey,
1. How would you rank Yates, McArthur, Foley ROS?
2. Which side do you prefer in a OBP league
Bichette or Adames/Yates?
Can’t find a season Ubaldo started 9-0. In 2010 he was 9-1 with an ERA of 0.88 through 10 games though. He was 15-1 at the break, but he failed to win 20. He threw eight scoreless innings at St. Louis in his final start, but the Rockies lost 1-0, and he finished 19-8.
Failed to win 20?! Wow…I guess I worded it wrong…it was 9 wins in 1st 10, I’ll fix
Thanks for the info, Vin.
Who is your pick at C between Jeffers or Stephenson ROS?
Ryan
ROS….heim or Murphy once back healthy?
Th a nks
Sean
Grey, love all your work. Who do you like in a keep forever dynasty league, Tucker or Gunnar?
Thanks! Tucker
I was offered Crochet for my Yandy Diaz in 12 team AL Only. Ok to do?
Works for me
Ahoy Grey –
Woo vs Taj 12t category RoS?
Pick one/drop one RoS: Kepler, Springer, E. Rosario, Raley, Soler
Woo
Soler…drop Kepler
Many thanks
No problem
most hilarious is that bouchard just lately went over prospect at bat limits.
Exactly
