Friday’s back and we’ve got another 14 game main slate on FanDuel.  This is going to be a tough slate to get through, as most of the bats I like are high end.  We’ll lead with a mini-discount SP in Kyle Gibson ($8,100), who faces a Detroit team who ranks 29th in wOBA vs RHPs.  Detroit is only projected to have one bat in the lineup with an ISO > .200 in Niko Goodrum, and while I admit Niko is a super badass name, Niko alone does not strike fear into my heart.  Saving a little money with Gibson opens the door up a little to pay up for some of the day’s big bats.  Let’s take a look at the rest of Friday’s slate on FanDuel.

Max Scherzer, SP: $12,200 – Ace and faces the lowly Marlins.  Only issue is finding the cheap bats to surround him.

Carlos Carrasco, SP: $11,000 – Has been pitching like a beast and faces the Orioles.

Cole Hamels, SP: $8,900 – Since coming over to the Cubs, Hamels has gone 18 IP with 20 Ks and a 1.00 ERA.

Freddy Peralta, SP: $7,900 – Peralta’s been incredible vs RHBs, sporting a .084/.204/.161 triple slash.  He should face 6 RHBs + the pitcher spot.  If he can get past the red hot Carpenter (just intentionally walk him every time), Peralta should be in line for a really nice day.

Indians Bats: David Hess is pitching for the Orioles today……and I am absolutely stacking against him at all costs.  Hess struggles against both righties and lefties and faces a studly Indians team, which unfortunately isn’t cheap.  Jose Ramirez ($5,000), Francisco Lindor ($4,500), and Michael Brantley ($4,300) crush righties.  Follow that up with Yonder Alonso ($3,700), Jason Kipnis ($3,500), and Melky Cabrera ($3,300), and yup, I’m still in.  Whoever bats in the 9-hole will be a sneaky play too.  I know there’s a chance that he’ll see less at-bats than someone at the top, but batting ahead of Lindor, Greg Allen ($2,800) should see plenty of great Hess-pitches to smash.

Nationals Bats: The Nats face Dan Straily.  Straily struggles vs LHBs and the Nats lineup is chock full of them.  They range from the pricey in Bryce Harper ($4,500) and Juan Soto ($4,000) to the affordable in Daniel Murphy ($3,300), Adam Eaton ($2,700), and Matt Adams ($2,500).  If Adams and his .279 ISO and .380 wOBA vs RHP is in the lineup he’s my favorite play.

Justin Smoak, 1B: $3,500 – Lance Lynn sports a .371 wOBA vs LHBs.  Smoak crushes lefties and I think he takes advantage of the short porch in Yankee Stadium.

Brandon Belt, 1B: $2,700 – DeSclafani struggles vs LHBs and Belt gets a great park upgrade.

Rougned Odor, 2B: $3,500 – Odor’s been mashing and the Rangers face……Odrisamer Despaigne.  Despaigne doesn’t have a high K-rate, so you’re telling me I can have the Rangers at home making a lot of contact?  Yes please!!

Yoan Moncada, 2B: $2,900 – This pick all depends on where Moncada lands in the lineup.  Usually he leads off vs RHPs, but recently the White Sox have been messing with where he bats.

Ketel Marte, 2B: $2,900 – Marte’s been really good vs LHP this year with a .257 ISO and .398 wOBA.  This is a nice pay-down option to fit more expensive bats.

Yandy Diaz, 3B: $2,300 – This all depends on if Diaz starts for the Indians.  $2,300 in a premium lineup vs David Hess is an amazing combo.

Elvis Andrus, SS: $3,200 – See Rougned Odor.

Brandon Crawford, SS: $2,500 – Park upgrade and faces DeSclafani who struggles vs LHBs.  If Alan Hanson ($2,200) is in the lineup, I really like him as a $$ saving option.

Justin Upton, OF: $4,200 – The Rangers are rolling out Drew Hutchison.  Once upon a time, Hutchison was a fantasy sleeper, but that time is over.  Both sides of the plate crush him.

Shohei Ohtani, OF: $3,400 – Keep an eye on the lineup to make sure he’s playing, but it should be like hitting BP vs Huchison.

Shin-Soo Choo, OF: $3,300 – See Rougned Odor.

Joey Gallo, OF: $3,000 – See Rougned Odor + he hits the ball really hard.

David Palka, OF: $2,700 – The White Sox face Jakob Junis, who struggles vs LHBs (.204 ISO, .355 wOBA).

Nomar Mazara, OF: $2,500 – Fresh off the DL and super cheap.  I love it!

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

Summertime and there’s thunderstorms afoot.  Cleveland/Baltimore might be in some danger.  There are storms in the forecast all day, but they look like they should taper off towards first pitch.  The following have around a 50% chance of thunderstorms as well; Cubs/Pirates, Blue Jays/Yankees, and Giants/Reds.

Doing Lines In Vegas

We’ve got two massive favorites in Nationals (-350) and Indians (-325), which adds a little bump to Scherzer and Carrasco for the W.  As of this writing there is no total out for the Rangers/Angels game, but I expect this game to have the highest total on the night  I’m setting the total at 10.5 (-110), sooooooooo place your bets.
