Howdy, Razzfolks!
I won’t bore you with an intro this time. You’re here for injury updates, and injury updates thou shalt receive!
Infielders
Alex Bregman: IL (quad) – It was announced earlier in the week that Bregman is set to miss at least another month. Oof. He hasn’t been terrible this year, but definitely not what you bargained for. Or didn’t bargain for, cuz overrated, amirite? Too soon? Sorry. Down year and now a lengthy injury on top of it.
Colin Moran: IL (wrist) – Moran has had a few periods of injury this year and now we’re gonna have a lengthier one. He got pegged in the wrist with a pitch and has a fracture; early estimates give 4-6 weeks before he might return. With the way Frazier and Reynolds have been hitting, Moran was a pseudo galaxy brain add cuz he spends most of his time hitting cleanup. Oh well. Back to the wire it is.
J.D. Davis: IL (hand) – Rehab this week. A return is [probably] imminent. Hard to say what the playing time could look like, but he should be a cheap DFS guy at the very least!
Jonathan Villar: DTD (calf) – Villar has been rehabbing this week and could return today or tomorrow. Need speed? Need a versatile IF? He could be your guy.
Ketel Marte: IL (hammy) – Uh oh, it’s the hammy again. Reinjured it last Saturday running to first, was DTD for a while, and now he’s on the Irritating List. Ugh. Dude’s the Byron Buxton of infielders. Or at least tied with Adalberto Mondesi for that title.
Kolten Wong: IL (calf) – Wong hit the IL yesterday with a calf injury. He’s not, like, the best fantasy 2B, but he’s certainly not the worst. Especially with the way the Brew Crew have been playing lately.
Mark Canha: IL (hip) – Looking like it’ll be a post-All-Star break return for Canha. It’s been really fun having a 1B-eligible guy racking up some extra steals for one of my teams. I surely do hope he’s back soon.
Mike Moustakas: IL (heel) – Transferred to 60-day IL. The Reds bats are having a solid year, so Moose should be a strong contributor in the second half if you’ve got room to stash him.
Tommy La Stella: IL (hammy/thumb) – Was all set to rehab after a hammy injury but then broke his thumb in a rehab game, so that’s what we in the biz call the ol’ setback. Maybe it’s just cuz I’m the injury guy at Razzball this year, which means I’m paying even closer attention to injuries than usual, but does it feel like injuries during rehab games are at an all-time high to y’all?
Trea Turner: DTD (finger) – Birthday Boy (back on Wednesday) hit for his third career cycle, but afterward we learned he’s DTD with a jammed middle finger. Dave Martinez said Thursday he’ll be out a couple of days, so if that holds up then we’ll see him back in action tomorrow. Even if not, I don’t think an IL trip is in the cards.
Yoan Moncada: DTD (hand) – Will probably miss all games this weekend with a bruised hand. IL trip isn’t necessary…yet. The White Sox are so decimated right now.
Outfielders
Andrew Benintendi: IL (ribs) – Reportedly is progressing well and could resume activities soon. Like I said last time I mentioned him, not a whole lotta folks have his combo of HR + SB this season. He hits in the top third of a better-than-you-think Royals lineup.
Eloy Jimenez: IL (pectoral) – His Insta story earlier in the week said, “The #74 is almost back to the game!! With ice in the veins!” Below, you’ll see a somewhat vague tweet about a 20-day clock starting after a rehab stint begins, but no timeframe on when said stint would actually begin.
Next update on Eloy and Robert would hopefully be they are assigned for a Minor League rehab assignment, per Hahn. At that point, a 20-day clock begins.

Franmil Reyes: Activated yesterday! One of Rudy’s War Room’s brightest stars is back!
Harrison Bader: Is active and isn’t a bad option for the odd stolen base, and for what it’s worth he smacked a grand slam last night.
Josh Naylor: IL (ankle/leg) – Naylor suffer a closed fracture/dislocated ankle Sunday after a brutal collision in the outfield. It was actually the fall after the collision, but boy was that an ugly injury.
Justin Upton: IL (back) – Reportedly, Upton could make his return tomorrow. Sounds like it’ll be soon, at any rate.
Kole Calhoun: IL (hammy) – Aww man. The ol’ setback forced him to get pulled from his rehab stint. There’s inflammation/discomfort again. He’ll be rested for a few days, then they’ll see if they can get him going again. I’d add a couple weeks at least to whatever timetable you had in your little noggin.
Kyle Schwarber: DTD (hammy) – Mr. Home Run left Friday’s game early with a right hamstring boo boo. I know you know his numbers last month so no need to rehash all that. Is it the lack of sticky icky? Could very well be. Joey Gallo sure is having a good time these days as well…anyway, stay tuned for updates on the severity of Schwarbs’s injury.
Luis Robert: IL (hip) – See: Jimenez, Eloy.
Mike Trout: IL (calf) – Finally doing some light activities and hitting. Could rehab starting around the All-Star break. It’s not the best news, but it’s not bad news.
Starters
Carlos Carrasco: IL (hammy) – Finally! Good news for Cookie! He’s throwing full bullpen sessions after having his progress stalled for like a whole decade. I’ll admit I drafted a lot of Carrasco and have dropped him in most cases cuz I just ran out of IL room, but I do still have one more share and it’s gonna feel really good to finally get him in there.
Chris Sale: IL (TJS recovery) – Threw again Wednesday and looked great. All signs point to a return soon after the All-Star break and a potentially elite second half. If he happens to be on your wire, I would prioritize the HELL out of adding him. I mean…Wiffleslider.

Dinelson Lamet: IL (forearm) – Left last Saturday’s start early after it was noticed his velocity dropped. Forearm again. Just drop the dude. Seriously. This is gonna linger all year. I cannot in good faith recommend you hold Lame-T any longer unless it’s a deep dynasty league.
Michael Pineda: IL (elbow) – Pineda pitched a rehab start Thursday for St. Paul. It didn’t go well, but at least he didn’t get injured during it unlike, like, everyone else amirite.
Shane Bieber: IL (shoulder) – Still a week or two from even resuming throwing. Blaaaargh.
Sonny Gray: IL (groin) – Activated yesterday! Went 5 innings with just 1 ER, 1 BB, and 8 K. Hell yeah, bro.
Zac Gallen: DTD (hammy) – Gallen suffered an apparent hamstring injury last night. It’s being reported as just “tightness” for now. Keep an eye out for further updates.
Zach Plesac: IL (thumb) – Started rehab on Tuesday and will make another rehab start today. Tuesday didn’t go well. Today’s outing will probably determine whether another rehab start is needed.
Relievers
Aaron Bummer: IL (hammy) – Placed on the IL Wednesday and was one of the White Sox’s setup men – joining him was Evan Marshall, but Michael Kopech returned and could see holds for the time being.
Emilio Pagan: DTD (neck) – Neck tightness has kept Pagan from pitching for a good part of the week. Not sure if an IL stint is in his future or not. Pomeranz shares are looking even better at the moment…
Hunter Harvey: IL (lat) – The oft-injured O’s reliever is injured again. He was a closer/setup guy (albeit that’s not saying much with Baltimore guys) but now he’s waiver fodder once again.
Kyle Finnegan: IL (hammy) – Hit the IL with a hamstring injury. Only viable in SVHD leagues, but I cater to all the fantasy baseballers out there. Or I try to, at least.
Michael Fulmer: IL (spine) – Ouch. A cervical spine sprain has landed Fulmer back on the IL. How f*****g painful does that sound?!
Nick Anderson: IL (elbow) – Anderson was spotted throwing off a mound last Saturday. He’s still a good ways away from returning, however. August-ish?
Rafael Dolis: IL (finger) – Began rehab stint yesterday. He could slide back into a setup role, but Tim Mayza has been lights out lately in that spot in recent weeks.
Tanner Rainey: IL (leg) – Hit the IL with a lower leg injury. No timetable for a return yet.
Tejay Antone: IL (forearm) – Darn. Antone is back on the IL with that forearm injury that’s been hanging around lately. He’s the best Reds reliever since Aroldis Chapman and is viable is just about every format under the sun. Hopefully he can get healthy soon.
Tyler Chatwood: IL (neck) – The Jays pen continues to pile up the injuries, now adding Chatwood to the IL with a neck strain. He’s not quite Antone-level good, but he’s been uber elite at times this year. If anything, from a fantasy perspective, his injury likely means Mayza and Dolis continue to see the late-inning work ahead of Jordan Romano’s closing duties.
Zack Britton: DTD (hammy) – Britton should only miss the minimum 10 days before he’s activated again. If you’re in the market for a holds-heavy RP, Britton is well worth a look-see.
