Maybe not so much sleepers, as Prospects we see as underrated, or under appreciated by the masses. We go through a few dozen players, position by position, until we've given you a cornucopia of under the radar goodness. There's big news on all fronts, as I join Reddit. Razzball Nation! After typically complaining about how many moves Grey will make in the Perty Perts RCL league, I decided to branch out into the other expert league-space this year and hop in a couple of leagues with our fantasy compadres. Thanks to the CBS guys for letting one of us Razzball schmohawks crash their league. Then dominate with sheer fiscal responsibility! I'm like Alexander Hamilton out there, makin' banks! Closer Report: Dual Overhead Cam

Surprise. Huston Street is already injured and being replaced by someone who isn't the full measure or picture of health in Cam Bedrosian. Cam is the goods, it is just a matter of him grabbing that role, remaining healthy, and then riding off into the sunset like the end of the movie Shane. Minus the slumped-over presumably a dead thing. The thing that I love about Cam is that he is growing as a pitcher. He always had the K/9 rate (9.3 in 2014, 9.2 in 2015, and 11.4 in 2016), but the thing that says that he is legit is that his walk rate was basically halved last year. To extrapolate on that further, in his last 26 appearances of last year he faced 92 batters, walked 8, and allowed 12 hits. Good for a slash line of .146/.239/.159 for a .398 OPS. That is approaching reliever stalwarts like Bush and Barraclough. And we know how much they are coveted right now, and they don't have a sniff of savedom. Oh... and add in only one earned run during that time. Stats sound great because they are basically forgotten about, because his season ended the first week of August. He was basically licking the closer bait, and then poof. Til now. If you are looking to invest in him for the season, he is basically going to give you Kelvin Herrera type production, and by his ever rising ADP (last week 200, this week 140) the secret is out for the save chase in La La Grey. Let's see what else is going down in the realm of closers as we get ever closer to draft days...

1st Basemen to Target, 2017 Fantasy Baseball

I don't think I've ever done this post before. My prior, uber, hard-line stance has been that you with that one hair wrapped around your head acting as a hairstyle don't want to draft a sleeper 1st baseman. By the by, I tried to replace Uber with Lyft in the previous sentence, but it didn't make sense. Previously, I'd tell you to go to my top 20 1st basemen for 2017 fantasy baseball (not clickbait at all) and draft some top guys and stop fooling around with sleepers at this position. Of course, I'm malleable like Gumby and this year I could see drafting a sleeper first baseman, though at my corner infidel or utility slot. Yes, I still want a top 1st baseman. No, utility slot doesn't have multiple meanings. Yes, even for fantasy. As with other positions like the catchers to target (again, not clickbait), these are 1st basemen that are being drafted after the top 100 overall. I love Wil Myers, but he's not going to appear here. Kapeesh? And, no, Kapeesh isn't the Indian guy who works at the corner store. Anyway, here's some 1st basemen to target for 2017 fantasy baseball:
Way back in the late fall, I released my Original edition of the first year player draft rankings. So, it's been awhile since I first wrote those, and ranked these players out. I figured it was about time to update those now dated ranks. The question you may be asking yourself is "Ralph, why are you so handsome, and also what's changed?" Well I'll tell you, I "gots somes" experience now. Because, over the last month plus I've had several first year player drafts, meaning I "gots somes" actual real life draft knowledge to draw from. Not to mention my ever-evolving opinions and evaluations of players. So what better time to update the rankings, and give you an idea as to where my heads at after reviewing all of these youngins over the course of my team by team prospect rankings. I've fallen in love with some, soured on others, and been introduced to players I previously overlooked. If these rankings are too late for your league's draft, my apologies, and I understand your angst. We're deep into draft season, meaning our collective sweatpants smell of rot and butt cheeks, it's okay to be ornery. I'll make it easy, use small words, and discuss lots of wildly inaccurate and inappropriate expectations to put on a teenager. It's all good though because it's in the name of fantasy baseball.
Ambulance Chasers: The Price is Wrong

There have been a few unexpected side effects from me writing a weekly injury article for Razzball. First, due to Spring Training I’ve had to pay attention and care about every irrelevant player’s bump, bruise and sniffle (why did you all let me include [player]Tyler Collins[/player] in my article last week?!) Going forward I’m going to try to focus on the injuries that may actually have a fantasy impact. No one cares that [player]Joe Mauer [/player] missed one hour of practice because he had what the Twins medical staff is referring to as a “minor boo-boo.”
Another unexpected side effect is the schadenfreude I feel whenever I read about a major player getting injured. “Oh YES! [player]David Price[/player] might miss the whole year?! More content!” What type of monster have I become?

Usually, as one does, I type with my fingers. Hunt and peck with mostly the index'ers, but definitely fingers all the way. I'm so pumped up going for the win this year I'm typing up this post with both fists. WE MUST WIN! BY WE I MEAN ME! BY ME I MEAN I, IF "I" WAS SUPPOSED TO BE USED IN THAT SENTENCE INSTEAD OF ME; I DON'T KNOW, AND AM TOO HYPED UP TO LOOK INTO IT, IN FACT, THIS SENTENCE IS KINDA KILLING MY HYPE BY EVEN DISCUSSING GRAMMAR. Everything You Need To Know About Everything

Greetings! Last I recall, the Elders and I were passing Thai sticks in the Secret Pool of Kuang Si, discussing some profoundly important subjects while we took turns etching ancient symbols into the skin directly on and surrounding the pubic region. But of course, our bodies are all immaculately smooth, hairless and chiseled, as if made from marble and then formed in the scorching lava of Mount Kilimanjaro. Why does this matter, you ask? The context will be necessary on our journey together through what looks to be a tumultuous 2017. Trust me in this, and the opportunities for massive glory in all forms of life may fall at your crusty feet like droplets of acid rain that will one day doom this planet (but not yet), burning all your self-pity and self-doubt away, peeling your skin off like a viper, you can be born anew, with a clearer vision and a more artful plan of attack. Anyways, I just woke up on an airplane, as it seems I'm headed back to the United States and below we have what one could consider a synopsis of sorts, of what the Elders and I discussed about fantasy baseball and "other things".

2017 Fantasy Environments and Frankencatcher Reports

Greetings, everyone. You might remember me from my days writing the Frankencatcher Reports here last year or the Handcuff Reports this past football season. The Frankencatcher Report concept is pretty simple, but if you need a refresher feel free to check out one of my posts from last year. In most fantasy leagues, at least half of the teams utilize some kind of revolving door at the catcher position because, after the very small top tier of kind-of-elite options, there sits a tire fire of lesser options, each burning, glowing, and extinguishing at different times throughout the year. More tire fire metaphors, you say? Sure, I thought that felt good, too. Maybe we can revisit that later.
For the 2017 season, the current plan is for me to write the Frankencatcher Report every other week. For the other every other weeks, I'll be writing about Fantasy Environments. What are fantasy environments, you say? Good question. Maybe we can figure that out together. Usually, when I think about fantasy environments, though, it ends up something like this:
Here's what I know about projections, they're guaranteed to be mostly wrong with a handful of unpredictable close calls. That's probably the most accurate projection I'm about to make, which is not quite the ringing self-endorsement one my expect to read in the introduction paragraph for a 2017 fantasy baseball projections post. Let's be honest with ourselves, projections are bullshit. They're little more than slightly educated guesses. This is not meant to take anything away from the hard work and resulting labors of love bestowed upon us by very smart statisticians and baseball analysts, but at the end of the day, I almost feel like the projections-hungry fantasy baseball population would be better off without them. Having just written that sentence I find it extremely ironic considering I am about to release my projections in just a few moments. I think they call that the pot calling the kettle black. Maybe the pot is just racist. Did anyone ever consider that the kettle might have started the name calling? Was it Tim Lincecum's pot?
