It’s with heavy hearts that we bid adieu to the dynamic duo of Halph. That’s right, it is with great sadness that I inform our listening public that Michael Halpern has moved on to the high stakes world of Bird Law. Our once loyal podcast host is needed by our feathered friends. Remember loyal listeners, bird law in this country is not governed by reason. With that said, the one the only Lance Brozdowski will be joining me as my permanent co-host until, he too grows up. I’m Peter Pan y’all, not to worry, old Ralphie ain’t going nowhere. Unfortunately Lance is unavailable until after Thanksgiving, so you got me for at least an episode. In today’s show I touch on Peoria’s stacked Arizona Fall League team. As well as my thoughts on Luis Urias, Mitch Keller, Kyle Lewis, and Eric Filia. It’s sure to be more Endorphin Ralph than you can handle. It’s the latest episode of the Razzball Prospect Podcast.

You’re getting double the Halph this week, as Ralph Lifshitz and I are back for another overstuffed episode worth of top 100 prospects talk. We cover prospects ranked 51-100 this episode, starting by discussing the ceilings of Yordan Alvarez, Jesus Sanchez, and Miguel Andujar. We can barely contain ourselves when we move on to potential shooting stars Heliot Ramos, Brandon Marsh, Bubba Thompson, Starling Heredia, Jhailyn Ortiz, Dermis Garcia, and Colton Welker, and then attempt to figure out which MLB players would make for fair trades with them. We discuss everybody from Matt Manning, Ian Anderson, A.J. Puk, and Riley Pint, to Jose Albertos, Jorge Guzman, Jordan Luplow, Edwin Rios, and many more. Welcome to the only baseball podcast that will drop the day after Game Seven of the World Series that will not be talking about Game Seven of the World Series. Well, that’s actually not 100% true. We do talk about how we won’t be talking about it. It’s prospects 24/7 around these parts. Ralph Lifshitz and I continue our top 100 series on today’s podcast, analyzing prospects who fall in the 21-50 range. We discuss our level of concern over the less than enthusiastic scouting reports Kevin Maitan has been receiving, if Kyle Lewis’ continued knee problems have him dropping, and if Harrison Bader will be able to carve out a role in St. Louis’ crowded outfield. On the plus side, we gush over Anthony Alford’s power/speed combo, hype up what Luiz Gohara is capable of, and predict big things for Christin Stewart in the Majors during the 2nd half. We talk about everybody from Forrest Whitley, Austin Meadows, MacKenzie Gore, Hunter Greene, and Jordon Adell, to Tyler O’Neill, Mitch Keller, Jahmai Jones, Michel Baez, and many more. Willie Calhoun vs. Gleyber Torres. Nick Senzel vs. Willie Calhoun. Willie Calhoun vs. Michael Kopech. These are just a few of the Willie Calhoun centric conversations Ralph Lifshitz and I engaged in during this week’s prospect podcast. We also got to a few of the other guys in our 2017 end-of-season top 20 prospect rankings, debating how high Scott Kingery’s upside is, is Ryan McMahon worthy of a top 20 ranking, and if Royce Lewis could be the next Victor Robles. We discuss everybody from Ronald Acuna, Vlad Guerrero Jr., and Eloy Jimenez, to Taylor Trammell, Juan Soto, and Alex Reyes. It wouldn’t be a Ralph and Halp catcher prospect podcast without Tom Murphy, and unfortunately for Murphy and his fantasy owners, this week’s podcast is no exception. We talk Murphy and Carson Kelly to start the show, along with a little MLB Playoffs discussion. We then get into our top 10 catcher prospect rankings, and while there is no disagreement that Francisco Mejia is the top prospect at the position, our opinion differs greatly on Jorge Alfaro. We discuss if Zack Collins can improve his hit tool, is Keibert Ruiz the next Mejia, and how much shine is back on Alex Jackson’s prospect status. We dive deep into everybody from Danny Jansen, Jake Rogers, Andy Yerzy, and Chase Vallot, to William Contreras, Ronaldo Hernandez, Tyler Stephenson, Austin Allen, and many more. I would say the 2017 end-of-season first base prospect rankings are filled with underrated prospects, but to be a first base prospect is to be underrated. Ralph Lifshitz and I attempt to separate the wheat from the chaff in this very hard to separate group, debating Yordan Alvarez vs. Bobby Bradley, Brent Rooker vs. Peter Alonso, and how much power we expect Pavin Smith and Jake Bauers to develop. We both sour on Brendan McKay, and fawn over Nick Pratto. We discuss everyone from Chris Shaw, Ronald Guzman, and Dan Vogelbach, to Edwin Rios, Lewin Diaz, Evan White, Josh Naylor, Cristian Santana, and many more. With Yoan Moncada and Ozzie Albies graduating to the Majors, the second base prospect class is so uninspiring that we talk about Moncada and Albies anyway. And sneak in some Rihanna talk too. None of the blame for this mediocre class lies at the feet of Scott Kingery, though, who is one of the top breakout prospects of the season and someone who Ralph and I both put in the near elite fantasy prospect range. We debate Isan Diaz vs. Keston Hiura, how much power Max Schrock and Luis Urias are going to develop, and if we still believe in Shedric Long. We cover everybody from Travis Demeritte, Nick Solak, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr., to Kevin Kramer, Esteury Riuz, Ryne Birk, Garrett Hampson, and many more. Will computer programmers for billion-dollar corporations find a way for Shohei Otani to be eligible as both a pitcher and a hitter in fantasy? These are the tough questions Abner Doubleday surely pondered when he invented baseball in 1839 (Doubleday invented baseball like Al Gore invented the internet and global warming). It’s also the question that Ralph Lifshitz and I ponder to start the podcast, along with touching on Willie Calhoun and Tyler Glasnow’s recent call-ups. We then dive deep into our third base rankings, debating if Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is the #1 prospect in baseball, Colton Welker vs. Dermis Garcia, and how to value the proximity and safety of Jeimer Candelario and Brian Anderson. We cover everybody from Nick Senzel, Michael Chavis, and Miguel Andujar, to Nolan Jones, Sheldon Neuse, Yairo Munoz, Ryan Vilade, and many more. Not even football season can slow down the prospect train, as Halph is back with another jam-packed episode. Luckily, or unluckily depending on what mood you prefer Ralph in, we recorded this before the Patriots got spanked on Thursday night. We started the show by talking about a bunch of recent call-ups, including Victor Robles, Harrison Bader, Luiz Gohara, Walker Buehler, Brian Anderson, Jeimer Candelario, and Dan Vogelbach. Then, we shifted gears to dig into our top 12-ish fantasy shortstop prospect rankings, discussing everyone from Fernando Tatis Jr., Gleyber Torres, Brendan Rodgers, and J.P. Crawford, to Yu-Cheng Chang, Andres Gimenez, Wander Javier, Delvin Perez, and many more. Ralph Lifshitz and I start the podcast by reminiscing about the good ol’ days when we played tackle football without pads on and were constantly breaking our fingers, ribs, noses, and orbital bones. Nowadays, my biggest concern is this stiff neck I’ve had all day from sleeping the wrong way. We then move right into bemoaning the fact that Willie Calhoun personally declared, “I will not get called up,” along with talking about a few players who did get the call, including Jack Flaherty, Tyler Mahle, Francisco Mejia, and Alex Verdugo. The meat of the show is all about ranking the top starting pitchers, discussing everybody from Michael Kopech, Brent Honeywell, Forrest Whitley, and Sixto Sanchez, to Michel Baez, Joey Wentz, Corbin Burnes, Trevor Rogers and everyone in between.
