Even though I wanted to bet on the Twins to win the World Series and didn’t, I still have to root for them this offseason. With all the bad publicity on baseball, it will be nice to see a team as pure as one led by Polanco, Pineda, Cruz–Wait, has everyone on their team been suspended at one point for PEDs? At least they have Miguel Sano (2-for-4, 4 RBIs and his 32nd and 33rd homer). Hmm…I remember something with Sano.  Hold on…*googling Sano and suspension* Oh, he just tried to force a smacker on a photographer and broke a police officer’s leg in the Dominican Republic. As Young Grey used to dream about, screw the Twins. Any hoo! Miguel Sano now has the 2nd lowest HR/AB (11.1), only being beat by Mike Trout. If we can get a full season from Sano (no guarantee with him) in 2020, I wouldn’t bet against a 45+ homer season. Mean’s while, his price will be that of what? $5 and/or the 12th round in a 12-teamer? There’s gonna be some crazy value for Sano in 2020. You could say *pinkie to mouth* In-Sano.  Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:

Nelson Cruz – 2-for-3, 4 runs and his 40th homer, which also happened to be his 400th homer. Reminds me when another Twins great Harmon Killebrew hit his 40th homer and killed a brew 40 times.

Jose Berrios – 6 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.70. You need to be careful about all of the starters in this roundup, because they might be scheduled to start again, but they could be skipped or only go a few innings, especially ones like Berrios, who will need to throw more innings in the playoffs. Of course, check out the Streamonator, but it does not know when pitchers will only be throwing a few innings vs. a full game.

Adalberto Mondesi – Dove for a ball and re-injured his shoulder, which will force him out for the rest of the year. But doves are supposed to be symbols of peace! Stupid white birds! Why don’t you go play for the Celtics?!  Speaking of which (not a clunky segue at all), our fantasy basketball leagues are filling up.

Trevor Bauer – 7 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 4.48. I will from now on call him Trefor Boober.

Kevin Gausman – Was sent home sick with about half the Reds team. Turns out whatever Trefor Boober has is contagious.

J.D. Davis – 1-for-2 and his 20th homer as he came in for the injured Robinson Cano (x-rays were negative on his toe). Callaway refuses to play Jonathan Davis Davis like he refused to remove Edwin Diaz from the closer job for the 1st five months, so I’m not sure if Davis will play, but he should.

Michael Conforto – 2-for-3, 3 RBIs and his 31st homer, hitting .252. He had one hit in the last nine games, so he might be coming out of his slump, which seems like the uze for Conforto, but looking at his month-to-month splits show a guy who stays fairly consistent. And, no, “fairly” isn’t doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence.

George Springer – 3-for-5, 4 RBIs and his 36th, 37th and 38th homer, hitting .292. He hit three homers in four innings, as the Astros clinched the AL West. Let’s see what the Astros can do against…uh…Roark? Um…J.A. Happ? Ugh, Yarbrough? Fox Sports playoffs slogan should be, “Well, we suppose anything can happen!”

Justin Verlander – 5 IP, 2 ER, 8 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 2.53, as he won his 20th game and 2nd Cy Young, unless BBWAA members want to see Kate Upton have a conniption. Then again, I’d pay to see that. Matter of fact, how much? Can I order that on Cameo?

Garrett Richards – 1 2/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 11.81. It’s actually good he hasn’t hit the ground running, because that would cause another injury.

Max Fried – 5 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 4.11. Max Fried sounds like a carny superhero, and in what is likely his last full start, he showed he knows his way around batters.

Logan Webb – 6 IP, 1 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 5.61. I’m starting Webb this week for his final start of the year (hopefully he makes it). Weeeeeeeeeebb!

Willie Calhoun – 2-for-5 and his 19th and 20th homer, as he bats third. What a jizzoke. Rangers have done everything in their power to hinder Calhoun’s progress, yet, unable to do it, he’s now their three-hole hitter? If I were him, I’d be like, “Eff you, I’m hitting ninth.”

Shin-Soo Choo – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and a slam (23) and legs (13). You know the ball is juiced because Choo hit his career-high 23rd homer, after hitting between 20 and 22 homers for six of his seven years he’s played a full season.

Lance Lynn – 5 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 8 baserunners, 12 Ks, ERA at 3.76. Everything in my being is telling me he’s someone to avoid in 2020, except 10.6 K/9, 2.6 BB/9, 3.15 FIP is not.

Jose Ramirez – Will return on Tuesday after having his hamate bone removed on August 26th. Love how the hamate bone is like an appendix for baseball players. Make hamate bone removal surgery mandatory by the time every player shows up at spring training.

Franmil Reyes – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 36th homer. Next week I will begin to do my end-of-season recaps — where did the time go? We were younger, and you used to have so much more hair! — but this $54 vending machine steak has 36 homers, and that does not equal a ton of value anymore. Less than $54, I can tell ya that.

Reynaldo Lopez – 4 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 5.57. Tigers hit three homers off Reynaldo, so he’d look up, then drop his head, making him look like a Lopez dispenser of homers.

Eloy Jimenez – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 30th homer, hitting .269. Everyone, except Giancarlo has thirty homers, so the wind is out of the “Chicks dig the long ball” sails, but Eloy’s looking a lot better than Vlad Jr., and is going to be wildly underrated again next year. Sorry, not to make this a drag sesh on Vlad Jr., but him and Eloy have essentially the same number of at-bats, same batting average and Vlad’s got 15 less homers. Eloy is being drafted in the 7th round of early 2020 mock drafts; Vlad’s going in the 3rd.

Victor Reyes – 2-for-4, 2 runs and a slam (3) and legs (7), hitting .304. Last time he went deep he also stole a bag. Someone’s got a hankering for slam and legses (legii?).

Christian Vazquez – 3-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 22nd homer. MLB has already said they won’t de-juice the balls next year, but can you imagine if they did? It would be akin to the mound change in 1969. It would be like, “En bee dee, I’m drafting Vazquez, Mitch Garver and Roberto Perez for my catcher and two utility slots and counting on 75 homers,” then, after de-juiced balls, “Hey, I only ended up with four total homers from three guys, what gives?”

Tyler Glasnow – 3 IP, 0 ER, 2 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 1.92, and five months until I draft him for the 1st time in 2020, or 150 days, 3600 hours, 216,00 minutes and 1.4 million things I could be doing when instead I’ll be thinking about drafting Glasnow.

Ryan Yarbrough – 3 1/3 IP, 6 ER, ERA at 4.08. Has an ERA of 8.03 in September, allowing 19 ER in 21 1/3 IP. Can you say “gassed?” If not, you might want to see a speech therapist.

Brendan McKay – 1-for-1 and his 1st homer. Shohei Ohtani who?! He’s an Angels player who pitches and hits. It’s a figure of speech, Random Italicized Voice. Oh, yeah, people are always going around saying Shohei Ohtani who. Right.

Austin Dean – 1-for-4 and his 5th homer, 2nd homer this week, and, in one 15-team league, I searched all available bats for who had the most hits in the last week, and Austin Dean was at the top of the list, so now I own Austin, as I keep it weird.

Hyun-Jin Ryu – 7 IP, 3 ER, 6 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 2.41 as he pitchslapped Antonio Senzatela. What an athletic specimen Babe Ryuth is.  Babe Ryuth swings a bat and runs the bases like a Korean Bartolo Colon, call him Kimchi-in Colon.

Cody Bellinger – 1-for-4, 4 RBIs and his 46th homer, a grand slam, hitting .302. Since no one’s saying anything negative about Bellinger, allow me. He was hitting .331 as late as August 1st.

Sam Hilliard – 3-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 6th homer. He now has four homers in four games, and one of them came as a pinch-hit homer, because Colorado’s all prospblocks, i.e., the Rockies don’t let you get your prospect rocks off.

Eric Thames – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 22nd and 23rd homer, hitting .250. Could be a last-week-of-the-season hot schmotato as the Brewers go to Cincy and Coors, though he won’t get to face that scrub, Trevor Bauer. (This goes for all Brewers. However, they could clinch before Coors and bench guys, because they’ve finally started clicking since they lost that anchor, Yelich.)

Kolten Wong – Diagnosed with a Grade 2 tear of his hamstring. That’s what happens to a hammy when Wong tries to pork too hard.

Miles Mikolas – 7 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 9 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 4.16. No matter what the Streamonator says for Mikolas last start of the year it’s more contingent on whether or not the Cardinals are still fighting for the playoffs (and the Cubs, his opponent).

Paul DeJong – 1-for-3 and his 29th homer, and 2nd homer in as many games. Colonel Mustard in the disco with a mirrored ball!

Yu Darvish – 8 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 7 baserunners, 12 Ks, ERA at 3.98. Joe Maddon heard about the job opening in beautiful, classy-as-ever San Diego and decided to leave Darvish in way too long. Also, might be because Kimbrel is a steaming pile of Shawn Chacon.

Nicholas Castellanos – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 27th homer. He had 9 HRs on the Tigers. Also, he now has 18 homers in the 2nd half, almost as many homers as he had in 157 games in 2018.

John Means – 7 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.54. Due to the Streamonator, I streamed Means and in the 1st inning, he gave up a leadoff triple and a quick run before one hitter was retired and I started to panic and cry and wet myself, but then I realized I needed to chill because he was just facing the hottest hitter in baseball, the naturally gifted, man-with-an-entire-aisle-at-Home-Depot-dedicated-to-him, Shed Long (2-for-4, 1 run).

Billy McKinney – 2-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 10th and 11th homer, hitting .214. With a week left of the season, Jays are starting a .214 hitter at leadoff, and he’s one of the best average hitters in their lineup. Their team average of .236 is the worse in the majors.

Luis Severino – 5 IP, 0 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 9 Ks, ERA at 0.00. You looking at the team in last place in your roto league with Severino in their IL slot without knowing it because they checked out to fantasy football in June, “Is it bad if I message the last place team and tell them to move Severino into their starting lineup?” (I’m okay with it, but it is a dirty trick.)

Brett Gardner – 1-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 27th homer, hitting .254.  He leads the AL in homers in September with nine. See what happens when you focus your energy on the ball and not the dugout ceiling.

DJ LeMahieu – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 26th homer. “Yo, DJ, pump this party! Why waste your time, when you know you’re gonna be mine?” That’s by a group named Bizarre Inc. They also did the song, “Yo, DJ, You’re Gonna Hit For More Power Out Of Coors (What The Hell).”

Hello Grey,

12 Team H2H 6×6 OPS Redraft Daily Moves

2020 draft strategy questions.

What are your thoughts on drafting Yordan and Cruz who will only have DH eligibility in ESPN leagues next year?

I picked up Yordan when he was called up and we all know what has happened with him and Cruz has been outstanding again this year as well. Are you concerned about their lack of positional flexibility being “stuck” in the Utility slot?

Thanks again for your thoughts

Sorry for the confusion. I would only draft one. Just wanted your thoughts on drafting a DH only player. Have you felt restricted in the past or do you just plug the DH only player in and enjoy the production?

Of course after 3 crappy ground balls for singles, Alfaro hits a grand slam. I am a Matz detractor, but at home against the Marlins, come on!

G, I’m going to tell a story about my team that nobody cares about. Please humor me.

I just squeaked out the championship in my H2H league by .01 of a WHIP point. It was a 2 week final, I had lost all of my premiere bats: Yelich, Trout, Baez, Gallo, (and Stanton forever ago), and my opponent put up a YUGE first week offensively. I was too far behind in R, HR, RBI, and OPS and decided last Saturday to punt all offense except SB and try to sweep the pitching categories. I had a very strong pitching staff and had a handful of moves remaining to cut my mediocre bats for streaming. It all came down to Sunday when I was comfortably ahead in SB, Total Ks, and Saves; small leads in ERA and WHIP ratios; and down by 2 QS (tying QS category would give me the H2H win 5-4-1). I had Verlander, Severino, Marco Gonzales, John Means, and Plutko on tap. Marco and Means (!!) both spun QS gems, Severino threw 5 IP (3-hits) to help my ratios, and JV uncharacteristically struggled through 5 IP. We’re all tied up on QS. I decided to bench Plutko to preserve a razor thin lead in ERA and WHIP while he had to throw Vince Velasquez, who is bad at baseball, to try to win a ratio and/or the QS category. VV was throwing the game of his life and with each passing out my opponent creeped closer in WHIP, literally thousandths of a point behind me. Then VV got 2 outs in the 4th, and my opponent moved ahead in WHIP! I was following the boxscore on my phone in AGONY. Kapler always has such a quick hook with VV, I knew all to well as a Phillies fan. He’s either going to get through the inning and get pulled, or Kapler will yank him at the first sign of trouble, preserving my opponent’s WHIP victory. Then Mercado goes yard, but I’m still behind in WHIP! I thought for sure Kapler would give VV the hook then and there and I’d still lose. I’m watching the play by play updates on my phone, waiting to see the inevitable “PHI Pitching Change.” But No! Next update: “CLE C. Santana doubles to right-center.” Vince gets yanked! I win WHIP! I WIN THE ‘ CHIP! My wife tells me to stop yelling because I’ll wake the baby! What a rollercoaster.

My roto league ends next Sunday, which I’m also going to win. Less drama in that one since I’m like 9 points ahead, but I still get to fly another flag! Thanks to you and the Razz staff or all your excellent advice and entertaining write-ups.

For the 1st half of the week, Josh Rojas (home-Cards) v. Hampson (@ S.F.). Just switched to Hampson, b/c he’s been hot and has been running and I need s.b.’s. Not that Rojas doesn’t run, but go w/ the hot guy, no ?

I’m eyeing Justin Wilson (got the save yesterday and Mets have no off days), Carlos Carrasco (narrative!), Diego Castillo, Drew Pomeranz. Who do you like? open to other sneaky suggestions in this ownership range.

What Up Grey (and team),

Thanks for all of your help this year. Took down the championship, been at it for 7 years in a pretty competitive league but on the backs of Arenado, Acuna, Yelich and Lindor (first season with them all as keepers) we finally got it done. Team is already built to repeat heading into next year. For 7 years (likely more), you have diligently answered all questions and comments from various readers every day, without any major pay subscriptions. There is something to be said about people that are passionate and great at what they do. Thanks again for your time and wisdom, have a great offseason and I’ll see you in the Spring.

Looking at Thursday pitcher options (need to start one). SON likes both —
– Fiers @ Seatle (SON says $14)
– Minor vs Bos (SON says $18)

Also note. Do you agree that neither Corbin (Sat) nor Schertzer (Sun) will pitch; well, maybe Corbin (3 innings tops).

Listened to Casey Stern light into the Mets before the trade deadline. To paraphrase from memory(bad at my age), here’s the gist. Mets are a trainwreck(true). Trade everybody including DeGrom Syndergaard Conforto Rosario for whatever they can get. Build from the ground up. The team was crazy to think they were a few players away from good(probably true too). It is insane to think they could be buyers.
Does a complete 180 today and says he likes what they did at the deadline(what?). Also says Cubs now need to do complete rebuild. How does this guy stay on the air.

Need to activate joram and peacock. So I need to drop 2 or 1 if you’d toss peacock back.
The candidates are…treinen, alex wood, profar, peacock himself, kela

Strategy question: I am in a battle for ERA and WHIP and don’t need Ks or Wins. Would you bench Bauer for Gallen or Luzardo? Luzardo could help a few innings of ratios but some risk for a bad outing. Or, do you just take a shot that Bauer has something to prove and will throw a 7-8 inning gem? Wishful thinking? Thanks.

I thought cano tore his hamstring. How is he back? The freaking mets maybe could have used his bat since they were fighting for a spot. Davis was so productive for me and now plays twice a week despite hitting over .300 in sept. I loved davis qualifying at 1b,3b,of too which is gold this time of the year as teams sit players.

Championship week is over and my pitchers were lights out filthy for the most part. I was one of the stubborn ones who rode Paddack til the end and carried Glasnow and Severino (all 3 were draft picks) all year via the DL. The 3 of them gave me 17 innings of 1 run ball in the final week.

Buehler wasnt great vs Colorado but Flaherty walked in to Wrigley and owned the place. Bieber and Castillo were solid. Throw in Foltynewicz and Manea as my pickups to replace a broken Giolito and all in all it was a good week for me on the mound…

57 innings, 2.37 ERA, .087 WHIP

Grey, your call to go with a then cold Alonso over a then hot Olson was on the money, .348 avg with 3 Albombsos for the week!

Unfortunately, nearly all my other batters went dormant i.e. Realmuto .222
Newman .174
Lindor .250
Bryant .130
Soto .087
Conforto .143

And all contributed little or nothing, only Conforto hit a HR last week out of all of them. It was a nearly complete power outtage for me outside Yordan and Alonso! A

nd options to adjust were limited due our loved but iron-fisted commish who throttles moves down to 2 per week during playoffs.

End result: led the league from week 4 on but was nipped by 1 category in the finals and lost 9-10.

Anywho, lament is over. Such is head to head baseball. Just wanted to say thanks to you, DT and others that comment because this site makes the game much more fun on a daily basis and I learn a lot.

Take care and looking forward to 2020!!

14teamer, standard 5×5 H2H,
which FA should be rostered for next season:

younger players:
G.Hampson (3hr/7sb in Sept), Ian Happ, Jake Bauers, Tyler O’Neil, Sean Murphy, A. Toro, Bader, Santander

or must own Vets: Upton, McCutchen, Wong, Odor, Inciarte, Piscotty, Shaw, Cano, Peraza, Nimmo, White Walker

Top three for next season:
Hampson, Upton, and McCutchen?

So at this moment, here’s what i’m thinking. As far as 3B 2020 goes: Suarez will be overrated and ranked too high to draft within reason, so Sano looks like the 3B to target much later that could produce a similar season with about 20-30 less points of AVG but the same OBP… sounds good to me!

Coolwhip
Reply to  Grey

for sure, also Muncy’s injury has been deflating his avg and going to keep him short of 40 HR. So i feel like he’ll be undervalued too and can draft him for a good price again.

O Great Grizzle my Shizzle! I need your ‘pert advice!

One week to go in NFBC and the Cobblers are 1.5 points out …in 2nd.
Don’t need Wins…Need to gain JUST 1 K to gain a point…tied for last in Saves (could use 1!)… Team ERA-4.09 with 3!! teams at 4.06 & 4.07. For WHIP, I’m at 1.22 and the guy in first is 1.21 …so, possibly a big 2-point swing there.

Given the above, which of the following would you BENCH for this final week (KEEPING IN MIND I CAN PUT GUYS LIKE SHOEMAKER in spots to avoid blowups)?

Lamet- vs LAD
Marco Gonz vs OAK
Bieber vs CHW
Lucchessi vs LAD
Anibal vs PHI
B Anderson AT LAA
Chase Anderson AT CIN
Montgomery AT ATL

Bassitt likely AT SEA
Pomeranz AT CIN and AT COL (ouch but has 2 saves recently)

Officially finished 3rd – at least I can hang my hat on a pretty dominant coast to coast regular season. I was in first all of 2 weeks – W2 and some point around Week 11 but was in first the rest of the time… but if we go back 2 seasons, then I was in first for just about the same period as Alabama or Clemson in College Football

Back at it again next season! I’m expecting I bunch all my pitcher picks (starters and closers) from rounds 11-22 when I have Luis Severino anchor my staff followed by Luzardo and Woodruff

yep – i’d rather know that I had a rock solid team and just YOLO which I’ve had for 4 straight years. My 2nd year was the best – I was in last up till Memorial Day weekend – that was the year Rizzo was hitting around the Mendoza line and was bugging the shit out of you about that… and I was just taking it from all corners from the guys in my league about being in last – then the 2nd half happened and the underperformers started to do their thing – won the title in ridiculous dominant fashion (I think my margin of victory for all 3 playoff games was at least +8).

I have some tough decisions coming up as I only get to keep 2 (barring a change to the keeper rules): Betts, Lindor, Yordan, and Bellinger, and TRAVIS SHAW!!! all up for consideration in the way too early list

that’s for sure – the team that just won the title this year dominated Post ASB – I was lucky that when I played that team, he didn’t have 2 starts from his main SPs, and I managed to win and hold on to 1st. FYI – not surprisingly, he had Acquino

Another Razzball Faithful success story here. A dominant H2H season is pretty standard annually when following the Razz By Laws. But as a hazard of the format, have been skunked in the playoffs the last few years. But during this weird ass offensive explosion season, there was no post season let up. Justice was served for me this season. IDue in no small part to this friendly group. Thanks so much to the prompt responding for us eastcoasters Donkey, Rudy, all commentors, and of course the incredible talented Albright. The whole site keeps getting better and better. We’ve all got our work cut out for us judging this wacky season and projecting the next. But gonna take some time off to enjoy the victory. Thanks again, gents (& handful of LadyRazzers).

Down to the wire in one league- 2nd 3rd 4th separated by 5 points… but like the Mets Im in 4th :(

other league- bottom fell out a few weeks ago (bauer and marquez as aces…)
10-team, 5 player auction keeper, you can keep for 3 years at auction price, or any pickups at $10.
Looking at Trout at $48, Bellinger for 1 more year at $12. Just added Sale, so he’ll be $10!
Thoughts on some other guys- might they be worth more than $10? (could always keep others, just thinking of adding these guys now).
– Sano
– Cain
– Laureano
– Lux
– Maeda
– Carrasco
– Woodruff

Thanks!

Hey there Grey,

So I just wanted to say thank you for everything this year, I took home the championship!! I huge amount of credit goes to you and your advice on decisions I was not sure of and needed that extra reassurance, or on the decisions I straight up had no idea how to play it. Your daily recaps and buy columns make the daily grind of fantasy baseball all the more fun and enjoyable throughout the year. You are easily the most talented writer in the game. Your ability to take something as nerdy as fantasy baseball and weave comedy into it and at the same time have great knowledge as well as great advice is unmatched. So again thanks goes out to you on another amazing season and the entire Razzball staff! 2020 can’t get here soon enough.

Yeah i got super lucky that when i had guys go down, the right guys were available as they were coming out of slumps sitting on waivers. Soler, Schwarber, Mancini, Sano i acquired all while they cold AF and guys got tired of waiting on them and moved on to rookies getting PT and hot bats. So i was there and ready to snatch them up playing the long game in between me shuffling hot bats to manage the injuries.

correction, Soler and Sano was via trade while they were cold. this one was a 10-teamer so that explains a bit.

I see you would choose Thames, Long, or anyone else over Jo Ram this final week. I thought I was lucky in getting him last night. If he can do what Olson has done after he returned from the same injury, I’d be thrilled. Yeah, he can flame out, but I’ll have him in the 1st half of the week, and hopefully play him the entire week. Indians tied w/ Tampa Bay, and if Francona says he’ll probably play, that’s good enough for me. Jo Ram or Josh Rojas ? Leury ? JD Davis (maybe, if Calloway was gone)? Will Myers (who went 1-12 after I picked him up last week, and then promptly got benched by Howdy Doody Green, and Rod Barajas) ? Gleyber (my favorite Yankee of all time) for 2 @ Tampa Bay ? Hoping Jo Ram’s competitive spirit and amazing talent will rise to the occasion.
I understand risk v. reward, and hoping for the latter.

For sure, except there may be no playoffs and Indians looking to Jo Ram to help.
Obviously, if he flames out over the 1st 3 games, I likely won’t be starting him over the last weekend, as we can change our lineups on friday for hitters.
Added Grisham and Hampson as well, and they both have Coors the final weekend of the year.

Last week of the season and in the hunt for the hunt for the nfbc on line championship.
1 problem. I need a 9th pitcher this week. Have 3 pitchers available. Fried, who is probably done until the post season; Bundy, who either gets Toronto on the road, and maybe even Boston on the road (though the mgr. says he’s going to a 6 man rotation this week; or Mitch Keller, who gets the Cubs at home and perhaps the Reds at home. My pitching cats, other than wins, are pretty awesome (Cole/Clevinger/Corbin/Castillo/Civale/Hendriks/Rogers/Hader). I don’t know if taking a zero from Fried is the way to go. Love Keller’s upside, and he is at home for his 1 or 2 starts. Memories of his 1st 2 disasters linger in my head. What say you ?

That was my original thought, but a W is good for a bunch of points, and Keller has shown some of his upside. Have a day to decide on Keller v. Fried.
Picked up Bundy last week, and the O’s blew a 7-1 lead for him; then sure the winning run for Means, after he’s removed from the game. Baseball is unforgiving at times.

I need some lineup help this week. Weekly lineup looks like this:

C McCann
1B Bellinger
2B Villar
3B JD Davis 7 Games (Cano getting hurt might help)
SS Lindor
CI Starlin Castro 7 Games
OF Kingery 7 Games
OF Kyle Lewis
OF Yas
DH Garrett Hampson

On bench
Albies 5 games and resting Sunday?
Acuna 5 games and resting Sunday?
Kepler Fuck him because he cost me 1st in playoff
Bryant As a Cubs fan don’t trust he’ll come back
Lourdes Gurriel Not sure he’ll play every day.

Points based league. (Steals not that important) I have an 800-point cushion so I’m only trying to generate points for the week. Please help.

I’m in first place right now in a 12 team 5×5 mixed league roto. These are the three categories where I can probably increase my lead: AVG, R, HR.

1) I need to drop G. Stanton, Kyle Lewis or Kyle Tucker for my U spots. I’m leaning towards dropping Tucker, who hasn’t been playing everyday. Who would you drop?

2) I need to drop Solak or Hampson, who has 3 games in COL, fro my MI spot. Who would you drop?

Thanks for leading me to the finals Grey! Very much appreciate the work you put in every single day in this long season.

Couple more decisions to be made:
Sano or Hampson this week? (or Grisham, Hiura, Gardner)

Can you pick three from M Kelly, Lamet, Shark, Heaney, Lester, Hill, R Lopez to stream this week?
Any other streams also appreciated!

I’m in the finals in all four leagues (yea) but believe I’m underdog in two of them. Each of them have a dead spot at 3B. My minf drt has difficulty with last week ratings — hope you can help.

League-1. I have Machado (hopeless past two weeks). Cut him for McMahon; Solak; Marwin; or Todd Frazier?

League-2. Kyle Seager (equally hopeless). Cut him for McMahon; Solak; Marwin; or Jose Ramirez.

Hi Grey…last week and titles on the line.

Would you replace JD Davis with any of Jose Ramirez, Eric Thames or Howie Kendrick and his 8 games? Would you also replace Gardner with one of the options above?

Many writers are saying Daniel Hudson is closer for Nats. You agree? Own HOM over LeClerc?

Would you rather stash Luzardo or Julio Urias for next year?

Thank you and thank you for a great and very entertaining season. You are the best in the business.

Well, here it is, the final week! Our Razzball NFBC DC is down to the wire. My team really stepped up last week ( thanks McNeil and Springer!) and I finally caught Magoo and we are now tied for 2nd with 101 points. Beastman has been performing real well too and has a decent lead at 106. Several categories seem too close to call, so it looks like whoever has the best final week will take home the crown and prize money. Good luck guys!

Thanks for all the great advice this season i lost in the championship but did pretty well.
I blame my loss on the Phillies they shut down the braves this week.

My CBS Draft Grade hitters D infielders C outfield C+ pitching B overall D+

What’s up Grey

I won my championship!! Been commish of this league for years and finally won it. Always saw how happy others were when I paid out the pot and now I get to pay myself!

Big thanks to your rankings and advice for this team. Dominated from start to finish. I had Yelich, Story, Soto, Xander, Abreu, Villar, Rosario, Dozier, Navarez from April on and that offense put on an absolute clinic.

Also big thanks to Rudy for our email exchange on a Saturday last weekend when I was having issues logging in. Really appreciate the quick turnaround, especially when it was all my fault and not the site!

See you next year Grey!

Team 1: Champs!!
Team 2: In the finals this week! After losing Baez, FTJ, and a bunch of pitchers, now I lost Mondesi again! Grabbed Hampson to replace the speed. I had dropped Baez, not picking him up again. Doubt he’ll play more than a game or two (this league caps us to 6 moves a week). So I grabbed JoRam to replace Kylo Seager. Dropped Cueto (@LAD) for a two start Bailey (@LAA and @SEA). Been a rough couple of weeks patching together a team. So 3 out of 6 tapped out in day 1. Yikes.

Same team 12 team H2H and your comments on Thames got me thinking… I’m thinking the other 3 moves will be streamers, but maybe grab Thames?

C – Murphy
1B – Alonso
2B – JoRam
3B – Vlad
SS – Hampson
OF – Yordan, Eloy, JD
Util – Rizzo, Moustakas
Bench – Hendrick

SP –
Woodruff – @ COL
Bailey – @ LAA, @SEA
Alcantara – @NYM, @ PHI
Flaherty – @ARI, vs CHC??
Bieber – @CWS
Ryu – @SF
Keuchel – @NYM???
Lyles – @CIN

My opponent has Scherzer (vs PHI, vs CLE??), EdRod (@TEX, vs BAL), Odorizzi (@DET, @KC), Ray (vsSD), Teheran (@KC)

So we’re pretty close with starts, though I like his match-ups and chance for K’s better. And I assume some of my/his guys may not make their second starts this week.

Notable FA SPs: DeSclafani (@PIT), Nola (just dropped but vs MIA later), Smith (@PHI), Manaea (just dropped @ SEA), JA Happ (@TB), Gibson (@DET).

Thames instead of Howie on the bench and only 2 streamers? Or forget Thames and go with 3 streamers?

The Belly slide was noticeable this year. Still was solid, but not Belly-licious.

Thanks Grey and crew for the ride this year! Fun, educational, a good 30 minutes of quality “work” each morning. Looking forward to the season recaps and your foresight into 2020!

Made to the ship again, but have some major decisions to make for the week and future. Would you drop Yarbough or hold him for his start @TOR?

My potential keepers for next year are:
E. Escobar 12th Round
Soto 11th
Aquino 12th
Albies 13th
Corbin 10th
Woodruff 17th
Flaherty 20th
Z. Gallen 12th
Starling Marte 12th (can pick him back up, but big if with injury and limited moves this week)

We can only keep 4, but its good to have a couple extras just in case injury before next year.
Who would be the most expendable from this list to make roster moves?

Superb report, only superlatives to describe it.

a. My season’s over mensch. I had a good run and of course there’s always next year. Major gaffes include.

1. Not drafting a top pitcher as my #1 starter. I drafted Paxton, not great. But then I dropped him before the LA start 8 starts ago. That’s another gaffe below. In 2018 when I won the ‘ship in my league, I drafted JV in the 4th round. I’m gonna need to draft something similar to be more competitive in 2020.

2. Drafting Trea and Story as my 1, 2 in the 8 hole. Putting Trea in SS and Story in MI left me handicapped in the period when I had Swanson in the U and no space for schmotatoes. It made my lineup decisions more complex.

3. Not having a top BA guy (Arraez and/or McNeil). Batting average suffered.

4. Dropping guys I shouldn’t have.

5. Not watching the limit on drops/adds.

6. I didn’t buy SON until like April 20. Stupid move.

More or less, not capitulating until the final out! Muchas gracias for all your help throughout the year. You should add a psychotherapist bonus to the 20$ for SON and Hittertron. Like an additional 5$, I’d buy it for sure.

b. The plural form of slam and legs is…slams and legs. Legs is like moose plural form the same as singular form.

c. Abbott and Costello quote of the day for September 23

Keep ’em Flying, 1942

Abbott (Blackie Benson): No, you don’t want to drink. Remember, every time you go into a barroom, the Devil goes in with you.

Costello (Heathcliff): If he does, he buys his own drink.

Cheers,

The RCL! I’m 5th (81) but damn…

Good news
1st in HRs, Runs, and saves
2nd in RBIs and SB.
4th in WHIP
7th in ERA

Bad news
10th in W
11th in BA
9th in Ks

Otherwise, the draft was okay. Was nervous as hell because there were really smart managers who did their homework, but it made my sharper if that’s possible.
