Happy hump day everyone! I can’t believe is the last of the regular season, 6 months just flew by. A large chunk of teams have started resting players. We’ve seen plenty of guys go on the IL over the last couple days as well. Teams you should be safe to pick from include Yankees, Mariners, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Dodgers, Giants, Phillies, Braves, and Astros. It’s okay to go elsewhere but look at game logs and lineups to see how their respective teams are managing them.

Roansy makes me laughsy. He sounds like the curmudgeon 60 Minutes guy has risen in Latin America and his name is Andy Roansy. “Why do I keep getting mail?” Andy Roansy yells in Spanish then pushes mail off his desk. Señor Eduardo Bradley chuckles and outros the show. So, Roansy Contreras is being called up to start today vs. the Cubs. He made Itch’s top 100 fantasy baseball prospects. His numbers in Double and Triple-A this year: 2.64 ERA, 0.93 WHIP in 58.0 IP with 82 Ks. His stuff looks lightning-esque. Didn’t feel like embedding a video, so I just made a super whatever tweet, I’m such a basic b*tch:

Prospect Itch said of Contreras, “Why is he being called up? Are the Pirates as stupid as you?” That’s him on text to me. Itch said previously, “RHP Roansy Contreras looking filthy in Pittsburgh. He topped out at 98.2 mph with just nine inches of drop on a four-seamer as he breezed through the ninth. He also threw a curveball with mucho inches of drop and an elite spin rate of 2924. Wonder if I could spin Grey’s head that much.” Not cool, man! I’d grab Contreras in any league where you’re desperate. He’ll only get one start, but so will everyone else. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

It’s hard to believe there’s only one week to go in the Razzball Commenter Leagues.  This marathon of a season has seen us torture ourselves for 25 long weeks, agonizing over batty calls, dipping into the streamers with mixed results, cursing players, and praising others.  We’ve ignored our families, our jobs, and our personal hygiene and now it all comes down to the final week.  You may smell like stale Funyuns, but dagummit, that virtual fantasy trophy is all yours!  Speaking of trophies, FFB is looking to lock down their overall RCL Championship trophy.  This is deja vu all over again for FFB.  They held the overall lead into week 25 back in 2019, only to lose it right at the end to Backdoor Splitters.  This year, it’s going to be Milo the Cat or Stl Squat Cobblers who have a shot to unseat the Babies.  It’s a bigger cushion for FFB than in 2019, three points is a tough number to overcome and I really think they hold on here barring an incredible finish.  We’ll go over some incredible weeks, check-in on the ‘Perts League finish and more in the week that was week 25:

It’s coming to an end boys and girls. Don’t be sad that it’s over, just be happy that it happened. Seriously, we had a full season of baseball this year. That’s reason enough to celebrate in my book. Unfortunately it led to some STRONG taeks early on in the season. One such strong taek was the demise of confirmed alien Juan Soto. Grey and yours truly, take a moment to dig in on Goato’s second half, and his NL MVP chances. We talk some Shane Baz, a little Wander Franco, Robbie Ray, Hans Crouse, and Marcus Semien’s record setting 2021. It’s a hell of a show, we even banter less in the open!

There were no snazzy or slick puns I could think of for Kyle Tucker (I mean, Tucker, I don’t even know her!)… see what I mean? But, I had thought about the “general idea” of Kyle Tucker and have come to the resounding conclusion that yes, he is a baseball player. Expert analysis at your finger tips, we are in the future. But let me expand! As the title kinda-sorta already spoiled, I just don’t think Kyle Tucker is a baseball player, but also carries the potential to build upon this season and provide second-rounder value. Want to know why? Follow me! I mean, it’s not literally following me, that’s kind of creepy, just, you know, press that button below. I can see how confusing it can be…

There are entire industries based around the cultivation of focus. For neurodivergent people, focus is something we kind of tap into; we don’t necessarily have it every minute of the day, but when I put music on and start my fingers typing at the keyboard, the flow state comes and I’m able to direct my thoughts in a manner that stays, “Marcus Stroman good. Use him.” I mean, it’s the last week of the season, and we’re in baseball chaos right now. Jack Flaherty pitched to, what, four batters the other night? He was supposed to be your SP1 this year. Gerrit Cole’s given up like 10 runs in his last two outings. We’re in the wild, wild west right now, and the best thing you can do is follow your own flow state, and to tap that (hehe!), I recommend going with the Str0 State. Also, this is my final DFS article for the year. So sad to see the regular season go! (not)

You know the Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye song? Nananana Hey hey hey goodbye! You know it, right? Well, I sing the Na Na Hey Hey part in Indian restaurants when ordering naan. Am the only one? Really? Wow, that’s weird, because they love when I do it. You should too. But you do sing the Hey Hey goodbye part when on the toilet, right? Still only me? Hmm. Surprised to hear it. Or rather, surprised to not hear it. Not saying at home when no one can hear, I mean when in public restrooms. Only me? Wow, you guys are missing out. Yesterday, Jonathan India had the runs like a garlic naan and sent one na na hey hey goodbye. With his first career four-hit game, Jonathan India went 4-for-5, 4 runs, 2 RBIs and a slam (21) and legs (12). For 2022, India’s Sweets and Spices is on my short list of guys who I want to draft in all leagues. He has literally everything: power, great park, speed, low strikeouts, great walks and a lock on playing time. When I see him in 2022 fantasy baseball drafts, you can kiss him Mumbai! Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

I have a cat that won’t stop staring at me. The minute that I wake up in the morning, she is there, dolefully glaring, sure that this will be the morning that I give her breakfast the very second I wake up. The gaze follows me into the kitchen, and it becomes laser focused. It bothers me much more than I ever expect, and yet I could end it by simply feeding said cat when I wake up. However, I refuse to capitulate, as if doing so would render me weak of constitution.

Saying goodbye to a player you should have dropped months ago is much the same experience.

I don’t know about you but it has been an interesting season to say the least. It’s been a lot of fun writing these posts here for you on Monday morning for the day’s slates and I hope you were able to plug in a few players that helped you take down a slate or two or played a pitcher you were on the fence that got you to the money in the end. The Monday slates are a little different in that they are usually a little lighter on the games played but that sometimes was really useful in finding some of the hidden gems that were out there as you really had to dig a little deeper into some of the lineups. Well no different here as we only have 5 games to choose from 3 on an early slate and 2 on a late slate so I’ll give you some players for both slates today and a pitcher for each of them. The pitcher I will focus on for the late slate is Chris Flexen ($8,600).  Chris has really had an outstanding season for the Mariners and coming out of training camp this year there were some doubts he would actually stick in the rotation the whole season but that’s exactly what he has done. This will be Flexen’s 30th start of the season and looking back at his starts he only has had a couple of starts where he didn’t go at least 5 innings. He has been very consistent limits hard contact and doesn’t walk anybody which limits the runs he gives up. The knock on Flexen in fantasy is he doesn’t strike out enough hitters but against these same Athletics he will face today. In his last start, he struck out 8 A’s in 7 INN of work and got the win and you will definitely be happy with that today. I would start him with confidence especially on this slate.

(The Cards win, the Cards win)1 x 8 = 16. 16 is also the number of runs the Braves will score to eliminate the Cards in the playoffs. I kid. Kinda. No need to keep looking for Mr. Nootbaar. The Caards haas-beens haas been aamaazing, even Harrison Bader (1-for-4 and his 15th homer), perhaps the worst hitter in the major leagues. Haarsh? P to the erhaaps. But look at Harrison Bader’s Statcast. If you don’t at least let out a small chuckle, you’re not 100% what you’re looking at, which is fine. I will explain after the picture:

More like HAHArrison Bader. Woof, dog, take that screenshot to the kennel; it’s time to put her to sleep. His xBA is .229. His exit velocity is bottom twenty, when adding in more guys than even qualify. He has the hard hit percentages of guys who are crossed-eyed and should be out of the league. For 2022 fantasy, Harrison Bader is a decent real world player for defense, but he’s a very bad, er, hitter. Of course! Who cares for the final week? He has three games straight with a homer, and he’s one of the top schmotatoes in the game. Anyway, here’s what else I saw this weekend in fantasy baseball:

The Major League Baseball season is down to its final week and a host of teams are still battling for spots in the postseason. And just like MLB, there are numerous fantasy leagues that will go down to the last pitch this season.

With that in mind, fantasy owners should do everything they can to secure a title. In re-draft leagues, that means discarding anyone and everyone who is not producing and picking up the hot hand. With that in mind, this week we will concentrate on some players who have been hot the last two weeks and likely available in your league.

So let’s look at the Top 25 fantasy shortstop rankings before we focus on players you should possibly target this last week of the season.
