If I was ever looking to control a key demographic of our articles, I believe the headline just reeled in all 16 of you! For those of you that don’t have a clue what Saved By the Bell was a teen sitcom based around a group of high school friends. These friends shared countless stories of heartbreak and humor and ultimately led to some amazing careers post recording. The teen heart throb, Zach, has gone on to star in countless hits like Dead Man on Campus and Saved By the Bell: Hawaiian Style. His love interest, Kelly Kapowski, was the first crush that many of us 40 year olds had growing up! Vying for the love of Kelly opposite Zach was A.C. Slater. A.C. was always cool, had some sick dance moves, and has led off for the Giants in his last 3 appearances vs LHP. Oh wait, divergent stories!

Weekly Razzball news delivered straight to your inbox.
This week I will be trying an experiment. Seeing as how when I am home I am constantly attached to an infant, thus rendering me one-armed, I will be attempting to use Google’s dictation software to write this week’s intro and outro. This comes with pros and cons. The pro is that I can write one armed. The con is having to listen to the sound of my own voice asking a machine to provide a punctuation mark, thus interrupting my flow of thought, which is already rather ruptured.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Hey, Razzball faithful! With the All Star game officially in the books, and no regular DFS article for MarmosDad to grace your eyeballs with, I asked Truss if I could put together something else for you to peruse while we wait for the Thursday games to start. I went back and forth between doing a […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?It took six picks for a college prospect to come off the board at the 2022 MLB Draft in Los Angeles, but a string of eight-consecutive players from the collegiate realm followed — including seven straight position players to cap off the streak. Just like when you’re waiting the better part of an hour for your luggage to appear at baggage claim, then all of a sudden your suitcase, snowboard, pogo stick, camping gear, ninja swords, guitar, mechanical crossbow, and cat all appear on the conveyer belt in a row, one after the other. This has happened to me twice but is incredibly rare. In total, 21 of the 39 players selected in the first round came from the college ranks (including Round 1C and Round CB-A). As always, there’s a lot to unpack with these picks and the subsequent rounds beyond, as 616 total players had their names called across the 20-round, three-day event. I’ll begin by breaking down some of the biggest storylines from the draft and conclude with ranking a handful of sleepers and overhyped players that you should target more or less heavily than their draft position might otherwise indicate. The MLB Draft doesn’t work the same way as it does in many other professional sports leagues. Taking the top player available is quite often not the focus, as bonus pool allocation strategy is frequently at the forefront. Never, ever, ever copy and paste a list of the draftees in order and use that to directly dictate your first-year player draft rankings. Feel free to use it as a frame of reference, then apply your own opinion and the information provided by myself and The Itch to develop your own big board.
Please, blog, may I have some more? What’s poppin, Razzpimples? Bullpen update time! But no fancy pun headline this week and no update on the last “week that was.” Instead, this week’s SAGNOF RP report is coming a couple days later than normal and will be a short and sweet piece focused on closers who could perhaps find themselves on a new […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The most famous carpenter in all of history is Jesus. Some may argue that he never built any buildings. That may or may not be true. We just don’t know. That said, he basically layed the foundation for a religion that has existed for thousands of years. Whether you’re religious or not, the fact that millions celebrate his birthday and know his name is testament enough. For those who cannot relate, it’s akin to someone getting millions of likes and retweets two thousand years after their death. Yeah, it’s like that so pay some respect. One of the most important events in the life of Jesus was his death and subsequent resurrection. Matt Carpenter died from a baseball perspective three years ago, but he has risen in 2022 and is doing something that could be greater than the advent of Christianity! Hyperbole alert! Fine, maybe not on that scale but it’s been historic. Normally, I break down a player in this piece to decipher if one should buy or sell. While that information will be illuminated, this will be more of an homage to what Carpenter has built so far.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Hope everybody’s All-Star Break is going smooth and you are able to catch up on seeing your family more and maybe getting into a new show or two to help you get through this dead period of our sport that consumes our daily lives. The 2nd half will be fast and furious with trades, playoff […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?I try to take a fairly simplistic view of the draft. My mind resists at times because the Major League Baseball Draft is an exercise in antitrust-exemption hyper-capitalism run amok, spotlighting primarily the lucky few blessed with generational gifts of wealth and circumstance along with their considerable physical skills. It’s a barefaced look at how structures that appear to be egalitarian in their theoretical bones are anything but in practice.
Whoops, I did it again. Got lost in the games. Keep It Simple, Guy.
Reset: it’s about the organizations as much as it is about the players. You’ll see Jackson Holliday third here even though I like Elijah Green more as a player because I think the Orioles are doing well when it comes to communicating with their young players and aiding their development. No knock on the Nats, who have developed some hitters of their own, but Elijah Green brings some swing-and-miss risk along with the big power and elite speed, and I can’t remember this team developing someone with that specific hang-up. Plus, I don’t know . . . something about the whole organization feels bad right now. Can’t put my finger on it. Oh yeah, they’re doing this weird dance with Juan Soto a year after giving Trea Turner to the Dodgers to offload Max Scherzer’s contract. Their minor league system is weak, partly because they insisted on major-league-ready players in return for Turner and Scherzer. Their 2021 first round pick Brady House, also a high school hitter, has not played particularly well this year (0 HR, 2 BB, 31 K in his last 20 games before landing on the IL).
I also like to take my time on stuff like this. Would prefer to see how these guys adapt to the pro game before ranking them for fantasy purposes, but I know some people have drafts that begin immediately after the MLB draft ends, so I burned the midnight oil for the past few weeks in hopes of replicating my best successes from FYPD lists of summers past like CJ Abrams, Corbin Carroll and James Wood.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Happy All Star Break my fellow RCLers. The Razzball Commenter Leagues can take a toll on your time, your social life, and your personal hygiene. I hope you’re using the break to take a shower, get out of your sweat pants, and get reacquainted with your roommates, also known as, your family. They’ve missed you. […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Grey and B_Don are back and B_Don has picked apart Grey’s 2nd half rankings to see if he can convince Grey to change his mind on some players. The guys start with some players that have the biggest differences in current player rater to ranking. Then, B_Don looks at a few players that he disagrees […]

Welcome, prematurely balding men and five women who are married to PBMs and decided if you can’t beat them, join them! Make yourself comfortable, this is gonna be a long post. Here, enjoy some coffee. Oops, you just drank rat poison. I should’ve used different mugs. Don’t worry, it can’t be worse than rostering Jonathan India in the 1st half. Oh, you rostered him, and that’s why you drank the poison? Now, I’m following! Hey, I’m supposed to be leading! *does a teapot with both hands on hips and shakes head* Before we get into the top 100 for the 2nd half of 2022 fantasy baseball, let’s just be glad our 18-year-old selves can’t see us now, we’d get beat up! But our twelve-year-old selves would think we’re the coolest! So, as with all of the other 2022 fantasy baseball rankings, slop this up with a grain of salt. If you need a 2nd baseman, but an outfielder is above him that doesn’t mean you can’t trade that outfielder for that 2nd baseman. Also, things change in fantasy baseball. Daily. I could put Aaron Judge number one, and he could pull a–Well, we won’t even mention an injury with the top players after we lost Tatis this preseason. As I say about the Giancarlo underwear I bought off eBay, why soil a good thing? This list is a road map for where I think guys are valued. It’s not the Holy Grail in the Church of Grey, that would be my mustache. This list is NOT (caps for emphasis, not aesthetics) where I see guys ending up if you were to take their first half and combine it with the 2nd half. This is simply a list of the top hundred fantasy baseball players if you were to pick them up today. So while Juan Soto did not have the greatest first half, he will appear on this list because, well, we have to believe in miracles — my 12-year-old self would want that, and to sleep with Cher. 12-year-old Grey loved Cher. The projections are not their combined 1st half and 2nd half numbers; these are their projections for the 2nd half of 2022. I also liberally used our rest of the season Fantasy Baseball Player Rater. That’s right, we have a Player Rater that tells you what players will do. It’s like that camera from The Twilight Zone. Welcome to the future! Anyway, here’s the top 100 for fantasy baseball for the 2nd half of 2022:
Please, blog, may I have some more?I used to work a night shift on Tuesdays in the summer, but it was an outdoor job, so I never got to watch the All-Star Game on TV. Usually, I’d go sneak some Dairy Queen or gas station ice cream as compensation. The All-Star Game never really moved the needle for me. I suppose being a Twins fan, there’s not much to watch on my end year after year. Yankees and Dodgers fans? The All-Star Game is just another primetime game for you guys. Last night, Apple TV offered me the elite matchup of the Pirates vs the Rockies, and YouTube TV offered me Red Sox vs Yankees. Truth be told, I’ve been blacked out of Twins and Brewers games for two years now. MLB wonders why there’s an audience problem. Meanwhile, I — a guy who ostensibly likes baseball — have watched more Minnesota United soccer games than Minnesota Twins games in the past half decade. Go you Loons! ENYWHEY. If the All-Star Game is your thing, enjoy it. Me? I suppose it’s the one time a year I can watch some Twins and Brewers without being blacked out.
This is a fantasy baseball break, so let’s do the obligatory thing where we evaluate my pre-season picks, recap the hits my system made, and gloss over my misses like you’re five Heineken’s deep at a dinner party.
