It’s year 13 of the RCLs! That’s right, if the RCLs are in the bathroom, don’t knock, just give them like five minutes because they’re checking the price guide for their Semien condition, so to speak. RCLs are singing The Freshmen by the Verve Pipe. They grow up so fast, right? Soon, the RCLs are going to be dating, then fall for their high school sweetheart, then get married at 19, then quit school to support their young family. Then, an affair will start with their co-worker, and the RCLs will secretly despise their family when they turn 30 for depriving the RCLs of their lifelong dream of going to umpire school. Man, some serious RCLs’ bitterness incoming! Maybe you should just hit the lottery, RCLs, then you can spend all your money on a McMansion and a tiger tied to a tree. Unfortunately, the tree isn’t sturdy enough and bends all the way over allowing the tiger to break loose and stalk the RCLs into their bathroom where the RCLs wail, “I didn’t know how good I had it when I had no money and just the fun of playing in a free fantasy baseball league against 11 of my closet frenemies.” So, don’t make the same mistake as the RCLs, and live your best life by joining some free fantasy baseball leagues!
Did I say free fantasy baseball leagues?
No, technically, I just typed it.
All right, if you could join a fantasy baseball league that was against, like, thousands of others, would you or are you…chicken? Don’t make me call a bawk-bawk on you.
This isn’t a 1000-person league, where people are trying to figure out who the back-up third baseman is on the Single-A Astros affiliate, the Corpus Christi Amscrayers. No, this is a 12-person league designed so you compete against eleven other people in your league, then 75 other leagues of twelve. That would be cool. Oh, wait, we’ve done that. It’s called the Razzball Commenter Leagues, and they’re back, and you don’t even have to be a commenter to join it! For a limited time only, get your loved one a fantasy baseball league! That’s right, your hearts go pitter-patter or you’re dead on the inside (my condolences). Since back in June when you abandoned your fantasy baseball team because it was totally sucking and you returned to your cubbyhole of leftover Chinese food and Teddy Grahams, you’ve longed for this day. As Bob Marley sang, this is your redemption song, mon. Or womon, for our five girl readers. It’s time again to join some fantasy baseball leagues!
Before you close all of your extraneous porn windows and rush to sign up, let’s explain how these fantasy baseball leagues are going to work. We’re going to have a bunch of leagues and crown a winner from each, then we’re going to crown ONE winner from all of the winners. We will be crowning the winner by taking each team’s points and multiplying it against a ‘league competitiveness factor.’ If you want to see how it worked last year, go here.
So we’re going to fill up as many fantasy leagues as we can for the next seven weeks. Each fantasy baseball league will be a mixed league, 12 team, snake draft, roto, 5×5, 5 OFs, one Middle Infielder, one Corner Infielder, one Utility, 9 pitchers, 20 game positional eligibility, 1400 innings max, 1000 IP minimum with 3 DL slots with a 500 moves per year cap, which I think maybe two people reached last year. So, that move limit isn’t inhibitive for even those who rosterbate until they are blind.
The leagues will be again at Fantrax.
We’re going to start with 40 leagues and see how we do from there. There are a few pay leagues, neither Razzball or Fantrax keeps any money. If people want more pay leagues, fill these up and we’ll open more. If we need more free leagues, we’ll do the same. To join a league…Sorry, again for the people in the back of the room:
TO JOIN A LEAGUE
Click the LINK in the ‘League Link’ column (see below grid) for the time you want and YOU’RE IN. Damn, that’s too easy. Oh, I guess I should also mention make sure you’re joining a league for free or for money, depending on your preference. If you want a league for money, then 1) Click the link. 2) Pay the money. That’s it! No pesky third requirement! Again, Fantrax and Razzball take no money. You can join as many free or paid leagues as you like. To quit a league, go to OTHER –> All Options –> Quit League (located at the bottom). Now go join some leagues!
THE BIG PRIZE
All leagues (paid and free) will play for the big prize. So, what do you win? You win bragging rights! Not just any bragging rights, but the bragging rights that you beat a thousand or so other people, and you can emphasize the “or so” as emphatically as you’d like. What? Not enough? Okay, for this year’s prize we’re taking the bull out of bulloney. We are upping the ante. “Hey, Olympic high jumper, can you jump over this ante?” No, you can’t, it’s been upped too high. LOOK, it’s a bird…it’s a plane…it’s our ante! “Excuse me, astronomer, is that a satellite orbiting earth?” No, son, it’s Razzball’s ante. They upped it. This year we are giving away a $250 Best Buy Gift card, which can buy just about anything (up to $250). I recently bought a TV that sits underneath my toilet seat so when I whizz I can watch TV. Granted, I bought this in a dream I had and I was married to Sofia Vergara in said dream, but this must exist, right? Also, for s’s and g’s, I’ll throw in a Razzball t-shirt because I have 14,000 of these and I’ve already outfitted all the homeless people in my neighborhood with SAGNOF t-shirts. But, most importantly, you will be crowned the 2023 Razzball Commenter League Champion. Okay, now sign up…
Wtf is SAGNOF?
Joined a RCL. I’m setting up my rankings and noticed Ohtani is listed as UT, P. Does this mean if I draft him I have to choose or can I use him both ways? (There are no bench spots, though.). Thanks
You can use him both ways. when he pitches, you move him to a pitching spot and you don’t get hitting stats, or you can leave him as a hitter and not get his pitching stats. RCLs have 3 bench spots.
Thanks
Scott Kimmel

I am trying to acquire: Michael Harris ($8), Devin Williams ($8), and Miranda ($6). Who should I offer to get them?
Who does the other team want?
he said make an offer for them
You should ask them what they want
this is exactly what he said to me, “Anyone that I can have start on my team. Make it realistic and fair.”
Okay, how about Urias and Colas?
What else you got?
Why? He didn’t want them?
he wont tell me he said make the offer and then wait and see
So what did he say to Urias and Colas?
He said make an offer and then wait to see if i accept
im thinking of offering Sale: Geman and E. Tatis for Harris, Williams and Miranda
So, did he accept it?
the offer i want to make?
Sounds good, try it
said no waiting for a counter
Gotcha
What’s on second.
I get:
Jose Miranda
Devin Williams
Sonny Gray
2024 Draft Pick, Round 2 (DrGonzo)
I give up:
Tommy Edman
Cedric Mullins
Julio Urias
Everything else being equal, do you rather Chisholm or Oneil Cruz?

If the manager of the winner of last year’s RCL #35 and top 12 finisher, stechsjj happens to be in the comments today, drop a line, you need an invite to the champions league.
I thought the ghost runner rule was going away. I guess I was wrong. Maybe I am a traditionalist and biased. What I found interesting is that it was approved unanimously by the competition committee. Unanimously? I don’t think fans would all vote in favor of the rule. Therein lies the problem. Baseball doesn’t have a clue about what fans want to see.
I don’t like it but also I’m not vehemently against it…I’m kinda meh on it in general… I do think it’s weird to have different rules in the playoffs but I hear that’s the case with other sports
Looking for some keeper help, Grey.. 10 team 6×6 (OPS + Holds) roto. 5 Keepers per team.
Yordan $24
Kyle Tucker $16
Jose Ramirez $40
Adolis $3
Corbin Carroll $8
Gunnar Henderson $8
Strider $3
Shane McClanahan $8
Yordan and Tucker are locks. Considering putting Jo Ram back into the player pool at his elevated cost and then trying to re draft him. Initially was thinking keeping Gunnar and Carroll, but now i’m considering Strider at that cheap cost.
Pick 5!
Yordan $24
Kyle Tucker $16
Strider, Corbin and Jose Ramirez…These are insane keepers, can’t go wrong with any of them
Hey If Perts or Cougs are Us are taking any new blood in, send me link to join then!
Send to [email protected]
Thanks
Earl
Gotta ask the person running Cougs, not sure who that is…But Truss might know
I believe Cougs is the Champion League that I got demolished in last year haha.
Haha
I just try to tread water with all you pros, lol! Never seems to matter as I always finish at best middle of the pack no matter what I do!

Woo hoo! I got heart palpitations (in a good way) just seeing “Claims Remaining (Season): 500”. And thanks as always for setting all of this wonderful insanity up, Truss!
HA!
Let’s get that $100 RCL filled up like last year, Laura! I plan on joining again shortly!
-Gunk
Hey Gunk, sweet!! I’m going to have to up my game this year; I knew last year it’d be a tough field, but you all took it to the next level!
Do you think that Peralta deal adds another roadblock for Vargas? I realize they are probably not done making moves. Thanks
Ugh, I just read your top 100 OF update on Twitter.
Ha, yeah
Yup, I updated him in the top 100 outfielders
was offered Severino and Marsh for my fairbanks and Estrada. 15 man. thanks
Sounds fair, but don’t love it
Grey-
Awesome stuff as usual! Nicely done. I kind of know the answer but I’m looking for advice. Keeper league, points league, need 6, kind of wanted to start young aside from Verlander (forced to keep him as I’m a member of AARP as well). I have an offer on the table for Trout (guy offered me his 4th rounder). Eloy and Trout scare me. Will Adley DH on his days off? What do you do? I will shut mouth and now wait!
Best Regards-Sheik
I have to decide between these 7…..have to cut one or take the trade with Trout?
1) Julio Rodriguez
2) R. Devers
3) Mike Trout
4) Eloy Jiménez
5) Adley Ruchuman
6) Justin Verlander
7) Zac Gallon
Thanks! I’d take Trout, forget Gallen
12 teams used all 500 moves, but none in the top 40. #3 Young Guns finished with 498 moves, but may have used more if it was unlimited.
1 MattTruss223 >>> 174 moves
2 Wake Up >>> 148 moves
3 Young Guns >>> 498 moves
4 MattTruss >>> 188 moves
5 stechsjj >>> 200 moves
6 Fred Garvin MP >>> 416 moves
7 Jersey Pine 5 >>> 207 moves
8 AllRice >>> 409 moves
9 Asynda Boil >>> 83 moves
10 Original Schmohawks >>> 231 moves
In honor of Simply Fred, RIP
Get the basement cleaned mom! I’m moving in!
Haha
Lmao
Best time of the year!
Woohoo!
Remember when you gave away a hot tub to the winner? Lol. Was that year 1?
Haha, I do remember that! That was so random, I wanna say like 2015
Vin’ll know!
Haha. Fail. I was thinking ’13 or ’14, but couldn’t find it mentioned in this post from any year. I guess it was added later.
Yeah, I think it was donated around midseason, haha
no love for h/h points
Not in the RCLs…Join a roto to give it a shot!
Grey!!!!!
Awesome!!!!
a. Signed up for two RCLs. Can’t wait.
b. In a dynasty going from a 12-team to a 10-team, also from 4×4 to a standard 5×5 with OPS on offense and K/9, SVH on pitching. We have to declare our keepers by Feb 18 (20+6, MLB+MiLB). The rosters will be 35+15 (MLB+MiLB), so two supplementary drafts one of 15 MLB and 9 MiLB.

a. On the bubble.
AlexisD
Kopech
Bibee
Tiedemann
OswaldoCab
Mateo
Stowers (I love him than most, I’m probably wrong)
b. I’m of the thinking to remove older prospects (like Meneses), older guys in general (like Drury despite the 3-year contract) and really younger prospects (like Yasser who’s just 18).
c. I pick 9th after finishing 2nd in the league last year. Plenty of good stuff available like Josh Jung, several top closers like Pressly so will look to your top 100 prospects list to capture some good nuggets. There will be two drafts – MLB and then MiLB.
d. In this format, make any changes to keepers? The Itch said he would keep Meneses. Your thoughts?
Cheers,
Ante
A. Nice!
B. Hmm…I don’t like Meneses — so, I’m concluding from this that guys like Esteury are MiLB even tho you’ve listed them in the MLB? I’m confused to which guys you have to cut, or if there’s any…Have you marked all the guys you can keep? Seems fine
Grey!!!!
The roster as you see it was drafted 23 MLB roster, 12 MLB bench and 15 MiLB. As guys got promoted from MiLB, I kept them on my bench. So now, I have to keep 20 from the MLB (including guys like Brujan and Lowe which I don’t like anymore) and 6/11 MiLB who were never promoted to MLB during the year. For example, Camilo Doval was ineligible to be drafted in the MLB draft and I took him in the 10th round of the 20-round MiLB draft. Now he’s one of the 20 MLB keepers.
I marked K the 20 MLB guys I want to keep. I also marked K for the 6MiLB guys, awesome prospects who are on the cusp of breaking in with the MLB and who’ve passed 3 years of injury-free development on the farm. Young prospects with 0 years can go back.
Cheers,
Ante
Ah, so you’re really only on the fence with Meneses? I don’t see who you’re dropping to keep Joey…I’d prolly go Drury over Meneses tbh
The archive shows the first year of RCLs was 2009.
So this must be Year 15.
This makes me feel ancient…
Haha, wouldn’t be right if there wasn’t one inaccuracy!
Interesting note from the comic Basic Instructions
Haha, I’m impotent! Wait
hahaha. I included this because of the line “It’s worse to be the guy who corrects everybody.”
Haha, I figured
I don’t mind it tho, for serious
Didn’t think you did, or I would have quit doing it. Well, maybe. Not sure I could quit.
Haha
