One thing to keep your eye on this week is that suspended game between Toronto and Boston being resumed on Monday. Not only is it not 100% clear how the teams will handle pitching duties that day, but different leagues may score it differently, and perhaps won’t count the suspended games stats at all.

On to the rankings!

What follows are our projections at time of writing as to who will be making two-starts this week, but weather, injuries, and secretive team management mean they are just that: projections. To stay as up-to-date as possible, consult Rudy Gamble’s invaluable Streamonator.

Chocolate Chip Cookies (Must Start)

They are kings of the cookie world for a reason. A warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie just makes you feel happy. Sort of like getting to set your rosters knowing you get two starts this week from these guys.

Pitcher First Start Second Start
Dylan Cease, SD @STL @TB
Zack Wheeler, Phi HOU ATL
Cole Ragans, KC @CLE @HOU
Bailey Ober, Min ATL TOR
Bryce Miller, Sea TB @LAA
Spencer Schwellenbach, Atl @MIN @PHI

Sugar Cookies (Should Start)

They’re fine. You could certainly do worse than having these guys in your lineup, but don’t expect it to be remarkable.

Pitcher First Start Second Start
Aaron Nola, Phi HOU ATL
Mitch Keller, Pit ChC @CLE
Nestor Cortes, NYY @WSH STL
Sean Manaea, NYM @ARI @CHW
Ryan Pepiot, TB @SEA SD
Max Fried, Atl @MIN @PHI
Jose Berrios, Tor @BOS @MIN
  • Is there oatmeal in these Sugar Cookies? Let’s hope not. This is definitely a group with its share of risks, but not to the point where I can envision benching any of them this week. It just may not end up going as well as you’d like it to.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies (Could Start)

These aren’t for everyone. These are the pitchers that may be a pleasant surprise, or they could ruin your week. Tread lightly.

Pitcher First Start Second Start
Kyle Harrison, SF @MIL MIA
Ronel Blanco, Hou @PHI KC
Brandon Pfaadt, Ari NYM LAD
Andrew Heaney, Tex @CHW OAK
Tobias Myers, Mil SF @CIN
Garrett Crochet, ChW TEX NYM
Nick Pivetta, Bos TOR @DET
Jameson Taillon, ChC @PIT @WSH
Michael Lorenzen, KC @CLE @HOU
Nick Lodolo, Cin OAK MIL
  • On talent Crochet belongs higher, but it’s pretty clear in the Sox’ handling of him that even hitting 5 innings at this point would take almost superhuman efficiency to reach. And even if he does, you know he’s not getting a win. It’s a bummer, but such is life of a first-year starter this time of year.
  • Streamonator has a whole lot more confidence in Pivetta than I do this week. You can start him if you want, and the Detroit matchup is a nice one, but I wouldn’t be that brave.

Fortune Cookies (Do Not Start)

Yeah, they’re technically cookies. Hold on, what does that little slip of paper say? “Bad times are heading your way.” Oh. Okay, then.

Pitcher First Start Second Start
Kyle Gibson, StL SD @NYY
Davis Martin, ChW DET NYM
Yariel Rodriguez, Tor @BOS @MIN
Miles Mikolas, StL SD @NYY
Mitch Spence, Oak @CIN @TEX
Brant Hurter, Det @CHW BOS
Walker Buehler, LAD BAL @ARI
Mitchell Parker, Wsh NYY CHC
Randy Vasquez, SD @STL @TB
Johnny Cueto, LAA @DET SEA
Edward Cabrera, Mia @COL @SF
Kenta Maeda, Det LAA BOS
Cal Quantrill, Col MIA BAL
Cole Irvin, Bal @LAD @COL
Cooper Criswell, Bos TOR @DET
Ryan Feltner, Col MIA BAL
Roddery Munoz, Mia @COL SF
  • When I’ve doubted Yariel, he’s made me look foolish. When I’ve trusted him, he’s made me look foolish. I am doubting him this week.
