Dodgers losing two games in three days where their starters didn’t give up hits through seven innings felt like a nightmare scenario dreamt up by Elias Sports Bureau, but it’s just Blake Treinen his best. Sadly, Treinen and Tanner Scott (1 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, the only hit the Dodgers allowed yesterday, and his 21st save, ERA at 4.47) couldn’t pull it off, which is to say, they actually held the lead for Tyler Glasnow (7 IP, 1 ER, zero hits, 2 walks, 11 Ks, ERA at 3.21). Surprised they didn’t go to Brock Stewart, their one trade deadline pickup. What’s that, he’s not with the team because of injury? Aw, too bad, he totally would’ve fixed their team. By the way, I like to say Brock like BDon, i.e., B-Rock. Be cool if his full name was B-Rock N. CL Stewart. If you’re an old fool, you get the reference. Watch Glasnow, Yamamoto, Snell, and others be their best for the playoffs — Okay, not Kershaw — as they sandbagged the entire season. Dodgers are a full-on Ponzi scheme. I don’t know how to prove this. Yet. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Slade Cecconi – 8 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 3 walks 3 Ks, ERA at 4.45. Look at that, the Guardians put a feather in their cap and called it Slade Cecconi. Cleveland-area Old Spaghetti Factories all closed down. Sounds like Billy Joel or John Cougar lyrics, but it’s not. It’s the way of life in Cleveland. In their place, Starting Pitcher Factories opened. They kept the same frosted windows but they got rid of the children who make the pasta with their tiny fingers. In their place, they put in pitching coaches. Been a while since we’ve see the fruits of their labor from a new Guardians starter. Or I guess I could say the tutti frutti of their labor. Yesterday was a prime example of when they’re cooking with gas. Looking under the hood — each oven’s got one to get rid of the garlic smell — Cecconi’s working with a 7.3 K/9, 2.3 BB/9, 4.09 xFIP and 40% ground ball rate. Since he has a 1.7 HR/9, I’m worried they fumigated the back kitchen, but it still reeks of meatballs, i.e., Streamonator for now is fine, but I’m worried the smoke and mirrors need more than some tacky red, white and green decor to distract from peripherals.
Ryan Bergert – 3 1/3 IP, 8 ER, ERA at 3.48. Hey, maybe you pay for dinner before you try to eff me?
Cade Cavalli – 5 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 1 K, ERA at 4.67. A more astute fantasy baseball blogger might’ve went with a co-blurb of Slade and Cade; Cecconi and Cavalli, but I, over-the-internet friend, didn’t feel that astute. Or astutey frutti.
Josh Bell – 4-for-6, 3 runs, 6 RBIs and his 18th and 19th homer, three homers in two games. Who forgot to tell him the trade deadline has passed? There’s no one who gets more hot schmotato than Bell when he’s hot.
Luis Garcia Jr. – 2-for-4, 3 runs and his 13th homer, and 2nd homer in three games. Just mentioned Garcia on this weeks’ podcast as guys I’d try to pick up if available. He’s likely not available. At least this Luis Garcia.
Dylan Crews – 3-for-5, 2 runs, 4 RBIs and his 8th homer. I’m pretty sure it’s not an exaggeration to say this is the first positive game Crews has had this year.
Victor Mesa Jr. – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 1st homer. Fun fact! Mesa Jr. has some of the cutest kid’s room furniture. Say my name for 20% off!
Jakob Marsee – 2-for-4 and his 5th homer, hitting .321. He was hitting .160 in the last week, and I was beginning to think the hot Marsee we saw before had cooled, but it shows you nothing good comes from thinking. Stay dumb!
Alec Bohm – Hit the IL with shoulder soreness. Phils will turn to Otto Kemp, and, outside of NL-Only, hopefully you turn a different way.
Aaron Nola – 6 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 6.24. So freakin’ funny the Mets seem to get in their own head around the Phils, and Nola. They must know Nola is terrible, right? Do they psyche themselves out? It’s ludicrous how bad he made them look.
Tylor Megill – Shut down, dealing with tightness in his arm. I have tightness in my whities. We are not the same.
Nolan McLean – 5 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 10 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 1.42. McLean, Tong, Sproat. If I were ranking them. I like the first two, Sproat’s has good, cheap produce.
Sean Murphy – Hit the IL with a labrum tear. Ugh, guy always has the worst luck. If there was only some kid of law for Murphys to express this.
Bryce Elder – 6 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 5.35. That’s now back-to-back-to-back–I’ve lost count. He has four straight solid starts. In fact! One may call them Quality Starts, if one were so inclined. I’m super hesitant about recommending him for his next matchup, but when a guy is going well, it’s not the worst time to get in.
Matt Olson – 2-for-4 and his 23rd homer. No idea how far this homer went — could look it up, but didn’t. Lazy. — but his home run on Saturday was one of the deepest blasts I’d seen in some time. Think it was measured at 450 feet, but it went 550 feet easy. It was a missile.
Ozzie Albies – 1-for-4 and his 16th homer. Was looking at the 7-day Player Rater yesterday, and there was Ozzie in the top 10 overall. Stop trying to rope me in for 2026!
Daniel Palencia – Hit the IL with shoulder strain. I went over my thoughts on this yesterday, tl;dr: Kittredge, Keller, Hodge, that order.
Shota Imanaga – 6 IP, 3 ER, 5 hits, zero walks, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.21. I don’t know this for a fact, but if you ask me which pitcher is the most likely to have a 6 IP, 3 ER start, I’d say Shota. Like clockwork. Like a clock that has a six and three and only a six and three.
Michael King – Will return today from the IL. He’s been solid when healthy this year. [presses ear bud] Being told he’s not really been healthy this year. That’s fair. Can’t say I have any idea what to expect, but it was a knee issue most recently, so, yeah, I still have no idea what to expect. Did love him in the preseason, before his shoulder injury that sidelined him most of the season, but no longer Mi. King.
Austin Hays – 2-for-4 and his 15th homer, 2nd homer in three games, and third homer in eight games. Hot schmotato alert!
Nick Lodolo – 5 IP, 0 ER, 3 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 3.10. LodoYOLO!
TJ Friedl – 2-for-5, 2 runs and a slam (12) and legs (12) Rostering Friedl reminds me of Steven Kwan. They’re both yawnstipating as crap and both on my same fantasy team and no wonder I have no offense in that league.
Jung Hoo Lee – 3-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 8th homer. ACKSUALLY, make that Friedl, Kwan and Lee, the crapfecta of yawns. The triumvirate of mehs. The Three Amigahs.
Dominic Smith – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 5th homer. He should be out of baseball. So, Dom, get ready to learn hitting third for the Angels in 2026!
Matt Chapman – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 21st homer, and third homer in a week. Too bad the Giants remembered it was an odd-numbered year so late in it.
Logan Webb – 6 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 3.12. He also allowed three unearned runs. So, what’s that? Not a Webb gem. Maybe a Webb zirconia?
Trevor Story – 2-for-4, 2 runs and his 24th homer. Learned yesterday that Story has yet to be caught stealing. Unlike that Austin Butler movie they keep trying to push on me. Do I look like your demographic, movie where Darren Aronofsky tries something different?
Garrett Crochet – 7 IP, 0 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 10 Ks, ERA at 2.57. He has 228 Ks and 42 walks on the year. Googling if that’s good and Google’s taking me to a online store to buy crocheting needles, so I’m gonna assume it’s good.
Luis Morales – 4 2/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 2.73. Watched the High School Catfish thing on Netflix instead of watching this start, but they’re both a nightmare. Holy crap, have you seen this movie? Don’t google it, just watch.
Bryan Woo – 6 IP, 2 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 9 Ks, ERA at 3.02. Woo!
Josh Naylor – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 25th steal. Corbin Carroll has 26.
Alec Burleson – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 17th homer, as he was activated from the IL. I was so out on this guy after his April and May, then each month after, slowly and slowly Michael Corleone’ing back in.
Jose Quintana – 6 2/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.88. What a loser line! He gave up a grand slam to Michael Helman! What the Helman! I hate you, Quintana!
Jacob Latz – 5 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 2.91. Rangers’ pitching lab shouldn’t be underestimated, but Latz just say I wouldn’t start Jacob, even if Streamonator liked him.
Michael Helman – 2-for-3, 5 RBIs and his 4th homer, a grand slam. Fun fact! Helman’s the brand name of Coby Mayo.
Simeon Woods Richardson – 5 IP, 3 ER, 6 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 4.58. Streamed him and escaped by the hair on my Simeon chin chin.
Royce Lewis – 2-for-5, 4 RBIs and his 11th and 12th homer. He grew up in Orange County and he homered in his first at-bat ever in Angel Stadium, which sounds super sweet, until you realize he’s been in the league for four years! How many games did he miss of the Twins facing the Angels in not-LA-but-really Anaheim? Did his family get tickets to see him in Anaheim every time the Twins were in town and watch, like, Kyle Farmer instead? If I were his family, I would’ve wore Kyle Farmer jerseys to yesterday’s game to watch him. Actually, if I were in his family, I’d call him Kyle Farmer for his entire life just to bust his chops. I’d be like, “Hey, Kyle, what’s up, Kyle? How ya doing, Kyle?” Actually, this might be why my family doesn’t like me.
Lile or Hays?
I was HEAVILY ridiculed by my leaguemates for dropping Luis Garcia(the SP) for Joey Cantillo(also an SP) on sunday before my semis. Luis Garcia goes 1.2ip and is hurt, my boy Joey Cantillo goes 8ip 4h 0er 5k and a W…and he gets the Shite Sox this weekend…gotta hate and kinda love the shitty randomness of head to head playoffs…that being said its only Wednesday but im up 8-2 with 3SP carrying me that I didnt even own until August, Bradish Bieber, Cantillo.
1. Better bat to add Luis Garcia Jr or Otto Lopez?
2. Sit or Start j.Weathers Thursday vs WSH?
appreciated.
*edit*
Better bat to add H.Bader, Otto Lopez, Luis Garcia Jr?
Im leaning toward dropping a cooling J.Marsee for Bader just for the better lineup. Bader is putting up legit numbers.
ROS pts league:
Albies or JNaylor?
Lile or Laureano?
Naylor
Lile
FERNANDO CRUZ WHAT ARE YOU DOING
I feel sick.
Noooo
Cruz and Leiter gave up 9 ER between them without geting an out.
NINE!
That all capping “nine” instantly reminded me of Ed Rooney talking to Mrs. Bueller about Ferris’s absences…NINE times.
…sorry to hear about the ERs.
Holy Josh Bell.
somebody’s hot
Hi Grey! Battling a close one in the semis. Thanks for your help. I would need to waiver claim either, sooooo, Bryce Miller or Luis Castillo or neither (both versus the Angels) ? Thanks a bunch!
Castillo
home? Or both
In Seattle. But it’s been pretty competitive. In so that of if I waiver Bryce and drop my waiver priority, my Castillo acquisition would be unlikely. Yet if Bryce pitches exceptionally, I might not need Castillo. Overthinking this my former mustached lothario, and need a dose of common sense.
Meh, at home I’d start both, so if Miller is first, start him then see, and maybe you can do both if need them
Sounds like a plan. Thanks, again, and good luck with your teams!
thanks!
Replacement for Tucker: Varsho, Austin Hays, or… Royce Lewis.
10-team H2H points league, semi-finals. UTIL slot so position doesn’t matter.
Lewis
Thank you sir!
No problem
Nice title. One of the great comedy shows.
Indeed!
Ted Baxter is one of the great characters. If you don’t think he’s funny, you might not have a sense of humour.
Ted Knight was one of the best in everything
Ah, Judge Smails…with his clutch putter Billy Baroo.
Billy Baroo!
And tigger too
Would you start both Bieber and Luis Garcia against each other today? The game will be at Toronto
Garcia seems dangerous
And he’s injured in the 2nd inning.
Oh man, ha
Tucker out for 6th straight game or is it the 66th straight game? I really dont know. I lost count. He disappeared last year for a while. Not sure if it even him who is hurt now because the guy who i thought tucker was hasn’t been around since june.
Hit the IL
Lile, josh Bell, Beck, Seiya, Steer Ramos, C Walker.
Please rank top 5. Position is irrelevant.
Thank you.
Lile, Bell, Walker, Steer, Ramos

Manzardo, Hays
Afternoon & Happy National When Pigs Fly Day!
On that theme & as you mentioned above, Michael King is actually getting activated to start today!
Woo Hoo!!
Now, I need to figure out who to cut to make room. Who from the below would you slice off the team and cured into bacon on the waiver wire:
If necessary, I could also cut Manzardo but he’s my only bench bat and sound like Adell is still “DTD”.
thanks as always!
I wouldn’t trust Eury (or Baz)
Thank you.
Eury gone!
No problem
6×6 OBP QS Keep forever
Need to start 3
Strider vs ChC

Thanks
Messick, Warren, Seymour
Awesome! Thank you!
Need 2 from this list
Run with Warren @Bos?
WW
T Wells vs Pit
Peterson @ Phi (SON -5.5)
Ober vs Ari
Or strider/Perez over these options
Pitching is hard
Thank you
Wells, Ober
My choices to stream: Bergert, Quintana, Junk, Slade, Elder and Latz. Went with the first two cuz they were “safest” in my mind. I also hit .091 as a team. In 160 days of fantasy, this was my worst result by day. Timing is everything. It appears our 6th place team will advance as I watch with our league’s best record….unless the bats come alive and Kirby, Ranger, Sheehan pitch shutouts. This is doable. LFG!
Still early!
Whoops, asked in yesterday’s post by mistake!
Should I drop Laureano, Grisham, Chourio, or Kurtz to get Adell?
And I just dropped Torres to get the hot hand in Holliday, but could also nab Garcia Jr, Otto, or Keaschall as I try to push to the finals. Did I pick the right guy?
Otto
Laureano
In a 10t h2h category league in the semi finals would you drop either Armstrong or Adell for the likes of Otto, J. Lowe, L. Garcia Jr, Reynolds or Grisham?
Thank you
Armstrong for a bat is apples/oranges…Do you need Otto Lopez or Lowe? Then go for it
Red Sox To Promote Connelly Early
I wonder when they were planning on promoting him.
[Jeff: “So hilarious!!!”]
HAHA
The left-hander is more of a high-floor than a high-ceiling prospect, and he will be making his debut in a tough environment, making him a risky streaming option in fantasy.
That’s good enough for me!
Haha
Hays or Baty obp league?
Hays
Would u start Leiter home vs Brewers?
I would, with some caveats, I don’t think it’s super safe and might depend on the league
Hey Grey…
Ugh to Luis Morales…I need to make up for that one
10TM H2H
He is due again vs CIN on 9/14. start or drop?
Also, Emmit Sheehan vs COL is avail on waivers and the BOT LURVES him today… Drop morales and play Sheehan?
Start Sheehan
Giddy up!
Thanks!
Giddy!
Up!
No problem
12 team H2H points, 2nd round of playoffs, I should not be here but streamonator has kept me alive! All hail Razzball writers and the awesome tools! With that said, I have my week of starters tentatively lined up. I was wondering who you would start, Taj @ LAA on 9/10 or Ober vs ARI on 9/14? No matter how it plays out, Thanks for the amazing work you do!
Nice! Ober
I had to look this up because the Royce Lewis thing is just crazy and this exchange is typical AI…And of course, he was injured for both of the previous series’…serieses…seriesii
Based on the current date of September 9, 2025, and the search results, the Minnesota Twins have played one game at Angel Stadium since Royce Lewis was called up on May 6, 2022.
The game was played on September 8, 2025, with the Twins winning 12-3.1 The search results also indicate the Twins are scheduled to play two more games at Angel Stadium on September 9 and September 10, 2025, as part of the same series.2
They haven’t played a game in Anaheim before yesterday?
My apologies for the previous response. I have found more accurate information.
The Minnesota Twins have played more than one game at Angel Stadium since Royce Lewis was called up. The previous response was based on a single search result that only showed a recent game.
Here is a more complete list of Twins games at Angel Stadium since May 6, 2022:
So, the Twins have played at least 7 games at Angel Stadium since Royce Lewis’s debut.
How many of those games did he play in or was he injured?
The Twins also played a 3-game series @LAA April 26, 27, 28 2024
AI is so bad
AI works well if you don’t know an answer…If you know the truth, its answer is a mess
So bad for the world. The internet has already destroyed intellectualism and critical thinking. This is that on steroids.
Idiocracy was a documentary
16 team H2H, K/9, QS, Total K’s, ERA, Whip. 2nd week playoff up slightly in Whip down slightly in ERA. Winning K/9, QS & K’s
I likely need another starter this week, would start from list below:
Chad Patrick @TEX
Y. Gomez vs TBR, @CLE
Kolek @CLE
Gomez, good luck!
Thanks!
No problem
Worth dropping Doyle and/or Reynolds for Josh Lowe and/or Garcia Jr? I didn’t get the waiver last week so still have Reynolds. Ugh.
Yes, both
Thanks! Sometimes I think we’re just looking for permission to drop some of these guys. Haha!
Haha, yup
Would you pick up varsho or Teel over Suzuki or nah?
Yes, Varsho
14 team h2h 6×6 with W+QS , HLD+SV and K/BB
Would you hold onto Gil for his @BOS start this week or drop him for a reliever such as Cruz (NYY), Saalfrank, Robertson, Strahm or Leasure? Gil does have two good remaining match ups after this week.
Hold
Mr. Prorater says, “If this August/September pace continues, Josh Naylor will surpass E! in steals.”
Haha, ugh!
Ran Bergert out there last night. Ouch. 12-team 5×5 league with weekly lineups. Top three teams are very close as we near the end. Whatever small cushion I had in ERA and WHIP is now gone. But also need K’s and Wins.
1. Start or Sit?
2-start Luis Garcia is @TOR and @ATL. Tough starts.
2-start YGomez is vTB and @CLE. Before last night (Bergert) I thought these were OK
Cecconi vCHW. Good to go?
R. Weathers vWAS. First start back. What does Kevin say?
S Smith vTB. I weirdly like this one.
Schlittler vDET. He has been great, but did get hammered last time out.
Bibee @CHW. I don’t think I can start this guy anywhere. So why is he on my roster?
Assad @ATL. Meh.
Bergert @PHI. this has got to be a sit, right?
2. Can you rank the above guys for this week?
Thank you, sir.
Yeah, brutal…I’d start them all, if that doesn’t work for you, I least trust Garcia, Bergert, Assad, Bibee 2. Oh, I see this now…okay, best to worst: Smith, Weathers, Cecconi, Schlittler, Gomez, Bibee…then reverse 1
Two top 30 starts yesterday! The Dodgers have 4 and the Red Sox 5 entries on the 100 Best Fantasy Starts list. Crochet has 4 of them:

21 Garrett Crochet Apr 13 @CHW
25 Tyler Glasnow Sep 8 vs COL
28 Garrett Crochet Sep 8 @ATH
29 Emmet Sheehan Aug 25 vs CIN
72 Lucas Giolito Aug 26 @BAL
76 Garrett Crochet Apr 2 @BAL
92 Yoshinobu Yamamoto Apr 18 @TEX
93 Yoshinobu Yamamoto Apr 11 vs CHC
Great stuff, Vin! Wow, 1st gem at Sutter?
Well, if you only count the top 100 as gems. Luis Ortiz had one back in June that’s just outside the list:
115 Jun 21 CLE @ATH 6 IP/0 ER/2 H/2 BB/10 K
Ah, gotcha
Grey!!!!
Awesome!!
Rodney Dangerfield quote of the day for September 9, 2025
Hey everybody, we’re all gonna get laid!
– Caddyshack (1980)
Cheers,
Ante
So hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
haha, ok, that line is good
Jeff!!!!! Another zinger!!1!!1!!!
What’s the issue with someone thanking Grey for his work while adding a break, some humor, and asking nothing in return?
What do you add to the comment section? Sometimes, a break from guys asking Grey to run their team for them all season long is nice.
Rodney Dangerfield quote for Jeff: You gotta relax!
*Yawn*
Thanks!
Haha, I do remember this line
Royce Lewis could finish with more homers than Gunnar despite missing almost half of a season and literally being in a coma for most of the other part.
Someone check on Gunnar’s blood pressure or heartbeat or whatever one checks
