Friends, I have no polite way to put it: last week in baseball injuries was a shit show. While some of the early season injuries are out of the way, the Tommy John surgeries, thoracic outlet syndrome, and other various fractures and tears are TEARING ME APART.
Hyun Jin Ryu. Andrew Kittredge. Daulton Jeffries. Casey Mize. Cody Stashak. Joe Ross. These are all names of players whose 2022 MLB season formally ended this week.
Additionally, Ozzie Albies experienced a fractured foot and was added to the 60-day IL. However, he is expected to return this season.
American League Injuries
AL Central
Chicago White Sox
Kyle Crick (RP): Crick, who has been been in and out of the minors this season to help the White Sox extremely sad bullpen, is out with elbow inflammation. He is eligible to return June 29. I doubt most of you had him on your rosters. In the off-chance you did, there are probably 300+ folks you could pick up instead.
Yasmani Grandal (C): Grandal is out with lower back spasms. Reese McGuire and Seby Zavala are options in Grandal’s absence. Grandal is eligible to return June 22.

Liam Hendriks (RP): Hendriks is out with a strained forearm. He is eligible to return on June 26. Hendriks has been struggling overall this season and was not in play before he was officially added to the IL. Kendall Graveman and Joe Kelly are options to replace Hendriks.
Detroit Tigers
Austin Meadows (OF), Daz Cameron (OF): Meadows and Cameron were added to the COVID-19 IL. They are eligible to return on June 18 and June 11, respectively. The really good news for Detroit and fantasy folks alike is that Riley Greene.
Outfielder Riley Greene, arguably the best prospect in baseball, will be called up to join the Detroit Tigers tomorrow. He'd have made the Opening Day roster had he not broken his right foot on the eve of the season. He's healthy now, and he'll be their full-time center fielder.
— Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) June 17, 2022
Casey Mize (SP): Mize, who has been on the IL for some time, is having Tommy John surgery. He will be out for the 2022 season.

The Rays have reinstated RH Shane Baz (arthroscopic surgery, right elbow) from the 60-day IL and optioned RH Ralph Garza Jr. to Triple-A Durham. To make room on the 40-man roster, RH Andrew Kittredge (right elbow discomfort) was transferred to the 60-day IL.

Toronto Blue Jays
Hyun Jin Ryu (SP): Unfortunately but expectedly, Ryu will be out for the season because of elbow surgery. Ross Stripling is expected to be utilized more in Ryu’s absence.
Ross Stripling gives the #BlueJays 3 2/3 innings on 84 pitches, allowing two runs.
That qualifies as "making it out alive" against this Yankees lineup. Another big bullpen run coming, which starts with Thornton.
— Keegan Matheson (@KeeganMatheson) June 18, 2022
Julian Merryweather (RP): Merryweather is out with a strained oblique. He is eligible to return on June 29. Jeremy Beasley was recalled in Merryweather’s absence. However, Beasley has been recalled and replaced by Casey Lawrence. We are playing musical pitchers, folks.

Mitch Garver (C), Glenn Otto (SP): Garver and Otto are both on the COVID-19. While they are eligible to return on June 11, they are still on the COVID-IL list. Zach Reks and Jesus Tinoco have replaced Garver and Otto in the interim.
The Rangers have 14 pitchers on their roster. So look for some roster moves coming after Sunday's game. Of course both Otto and Garver are still on the COVID-IL with Reks and Tinoco as replacements guys. Plus Josh Smith is currently on rehab. #StraightUpTX https://t.co/EePI6ebpZW
