It’s always so hard to know if a guy is GREAT uppercase, great lowercase or “Meh, was great but that’s because the Braves suck–Excuse me, I mean, the team he was facing sucked.” Though, the Braves do suck. Hard not to see that going on two years. So, was Merrill Kelly GREAT uppercase, great lowercase or “Meh, was great but that’s because the Braves suck–Excuse me–” Well, you know. So, he looks lowercase great. Which is uppercase GOOD. Yesterday, he went 7 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 1 walk, 8 Ks, and looked GREAT, uppercase, because the Braves do suck, but he’s lowercase great because he has a 8.5 K/9, 2.3 BB/9, 3.37 xFIP, almost completely neutral on luck with his 3.43 ERA. He looks like a carbon copy of his previous solid fantasy seasons. Remember, he did have those. Multiple ones. He looks healthy, pinpointing his pitches and finding great success. So, lowercase great, uppercase GOOD and uppercase VERY USABLE. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Justin Martinez – 1 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 0 hits, 4 BBs, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.68. “Justin Martinez is not right. He’s not bouncing back after throwing. Something might be up. Think we need to back off him. Actually, he needs an IL stint.” 15 days later, “We’re going to throw him for 37 pitches in almost two innings, when he can’t find the zone.”
Chris Sale – 6 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 10 Ks, ERA at 2.93. No offense to Merrill, Sale’s actually GREAT. Love to be a fly on the wall when you tell your friend, “No, he’s lowercase great. He’s not GREAT uppercase. That’s Sale! Sale’s uppercase GREAT. Yes, I am a knowledgable person.”
Pablo Lopez – Hit the IL with a Grade 2 teres major strain. He will miss 8-12 weeks. Time for a party! Sorry, that sounds insensitive in English. It’s time for Festa.
Harrison Bader – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer, and his 1st hit in June. Hmm, not as dramatic as I intended. Let’s try this: He was hitting .180 in the last two weeks with one homer, prior to last night. That’s better. I mean, worse. You get the idea.
Zebby Matthews – 5 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 5.21. Not sure when it translates, but Zebby’s peripherals are excellent and remind me of when Roupp was dealing, but had an awful ERA. And now Roupp’s ERA is solid.
Cal Quantrill – 5 IP, 2 ER, 6 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 5.63. Quantrill sounds like a word Pusha T would use. By the way, I was perusing Pusha T’s wiki page as one does, and he had a feud with McDonald’s. He said he came up with I’m Lovin’ It, and they stole it, so he wrote a diss track, singing, “a little cube of fish from a clown is basic” about their Filet-o-Fish. That is all 100% true. I don’t know why this cracks me up so much.
Kyle Freeland – 6 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 4 hits, zero walks, 4 Ks, ERA at 5.19. Break up the Rockies!
LaMonte Wade Jr. – Designated for assignment. An end of an era. That era being the one where I think LaMonte Wade Jr. was the Son of Sanford and Son.
Dominic Smith – 0-for-4 as the Giants called him up. Ya know those videos they make of rookies being called up where the rookie is overwhelmed with emotion about finally being called up to the majors? They should do those videos for last-chance vets like Smith. “Dom, are you ready to go?” “Yeah, I just went.” “Where?” “Uhh…the bathroom. Where you talking?”
Randy Rodriguez – 2/3 IP, 0 ER, ERA at 0.66, and his 1st save, and I picked him up because I am a whore for SAGNOF. Doval was likely unavailable because he worked (and sucked) the last game, but Randy Rodriguez of the Redwoods has been exceptional, so why not grab him?
Matt Chapman – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 11th homer, and 2nd homer in a week. He didn’t hit his 11th homer last year until June 30th. Cust kayin’.
Kyle Harrison – 4 1/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA art 4.34 vs. Nick Pivetta – 6 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 3.16. This matchup was billed as, “I think I’m gonna start both guys in this game. How bad could it be?”
Adley Rutschman – 1-for-4 and his 6th homer. In May, he hit .182 with one homer and zero steals. Lenyn Sosa had a better month, by almost a hundred points in average and stole a bag and had twice as many homers.
Cade Povich – 5 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 5.11. Yet another Cade. Supposedly! That’s what they’re saying. So, I looked up Cade’s numbers. This Cade, I think. Doesn’t look too bad. Better than I expected. 9.3 K/9, 3.4 BB/9, 3.87 xFIP, and way too many fly balls, way too many homers, way too little run support. Not really usable, and barely Streamonator worthy, but better than I expected!
Sawyer Gipson-Long – 3 2/3 IP, 3 ER as he was activated from the sawyer-long IL. I refused to pick up SGL because he sounded like SGV and I try to avoid the Valley at all costs. Just went over him yesterday, “He’s shown impeccable command in the minors; this year’s BB/9 is 1.1 and that’s a monocle’s worth of info for me! If he can translate that to majors and hold an 8.5 K/9, it would be hard to not be somewhat useful. Prolly mostly for 15-teamers, but could be 12-team and shallower worthwhile.” And that’s me quoting me! Clearly, his 1st start wasn’t anything great, so monocle for now in most mixed leagues, though I imagine someone will grab him in 15-teamers after this start on the off chance he pans out.
Mike Burrows – 5 1/3 IP, 0 ER, 5 hits, zero walks, 6 Ks, ERA at 5.27. Bubba Chandler who?! He’s the top pitching prospect in the minors for the Pirates while they start this Mike Burrows guy. Wasn’t literally asking, Random Italicized Voice. Sorry, by you literally asking, I thought you were literally asking. Anyway, Burrows has bad command and looks like an NL-Only guy still.
MacKenzie Gore – 7 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.87. He took on the Cubs and Michael Busch, as they recreated Gore vs. Busch. What are they doing with rope and why are they at Chad Cordero’s house? Nooooo!!! Let’s not recreate the whole thing!
Matthew Boyd – 7 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 baserunners, 6 Ks, ERA at 3.01. If it wasn’t for one bad pitch to Amed Rosario, Boyd’s night would’ve been pristine. Still, we rise our glasses to Boyd, hang our office clock from around our neck and say, “Yeah, Boyd,” in the style of Flavor Flav.
Clarke Schmidt – 5 1/3 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 4.04. Surprised he didn’t look better at home vs. the Guardians, but I’m reminded of what a voodoo priestess said to me after biting a head off a chicken, “You’ll never have anything nice.”
Luis L. Ortiz – 5 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 6 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 4.02. His peripherals are looking rather solid — 10 K/9, 3.59 xFIP — and maybe the Old Spaghetti Factory converted into the Cleveland Starting Pitcher Factory has opened its doors again. His next start isn’t terrible — by my mind, Streamonator doesn’t love it — so I could see trying him to see if he’s unlocked something in the CSPF.
Angel Martinez – 1-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 4th homer. Angel gave that ball some wings! Yes! High-five me! Right now! No? Okay.
Kyle Manzardo – 1-for-4 and his 11th homer. He really does nothing but homer. It’s fine for deeper leagues, but there’s so little else here.
Jose Berrios – 6 IP, 1 ER, 6 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.67. Berrios pitched well yesterday even though I went against my number one rule for him, “Don’t watch him pitch.” I had to watch Abel to see if he was, and Berrios was a mere bystander.
Mick Abel – 5 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 3 hits, zero walks, 2 Ks, ERA at 0.79. Abel pitched on four days rest for some reason that I can’t unearth. His curve is nasty shizz to lefties. And he’s a righty, so bedazzle my denim jean jacket with “I’m a Fan.” His 96 MPH fastball tails in on lefties too. I don’t know how they can send him back down after that, but I didn’t think they would after his last start. I anticipate surprises, like I’m eating a 8-foot tall cake with a hole in the middle. So, grab Abel if you have room, but I wouldn’t drop anyone too worthwhile since the Phils plan for him is not clear.
Nick Castellanos – 1-for-4 and his 6th homer. The Greek God of Hard Contact is doing a lot of work on his fantasy value that isn’t power-related because he’s nearly a top 40 outfielder on the Player Rater. If you can’t tell, I was a little surprised by that. As surprised as I was to learn he’s Cuban, and not Greek at all.
Jordan Romano – 2/3 IP, 1 ER, ERA at 7.54. Back-to-back games allowing runs. Had it been already 20 days since the last Phils’ closer change? We are due one Phils’ closer change per month. A nation of battery-throwing fans chuck objects at Joltin’ Jo. Romano and turn their lonely eyes to you, Kerkering.
Griffin Canning – 6 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 2.90. Griffin Canning has a 2.90 ERA. Just felt like I needed to type that out again.
Pete Alonso – 2-for-4, 5 RBIs and his 13th and 14th homer. Albombso!
Andy Pages – 3-for-4, and his 12th homer, hitting .290. Pages opening a new chapter in June. Clever!
Kumar Rocker – 3 1/3 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 8.87, as he was activated from the IL. Kumar can’t locate his slider. They made a whole movie about it. So, bad news is everything going on with Rocker. Good news is for Robert Garcia owners since it looks like Bochy won’t do any big-brained moves and try to make Rocker the closer.
Jonah Heim – 1-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 7th homer. Hit ’em with the Heim!
Shane Baz – 5 IP, 3 ER, 6 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 4.96. Believe someone commented something like, “I know you don’t like Baz,” which is fair, I don’t, but he has a near-5 ERA. Why do you like him? You meaning everyone else.
Brandon Lowe – 3-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 12th homer. More an indictment of the 2nd base position, but Lowe is nearly the top 2nd baseman on the Player Rater. He hasn’t even been that good! What an incredibly weak position. It’s officially worse than catchers.
Hunter Greene – Hit the IL with a strained groin. What an odd thing to find in a colander. Reds signed Wade Miley to replace Greene. Miley isn’t great, but he is very ugly, so there’s that.
Andrew Abbott – 6 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 2.18. Regression could be worse, which is to say I’ll take it if the regression comes this light. Please stay this light. The Light, like Common sung about, make this about Abbott. (Will he continue to regress? Yes, possibly. Thankfully, you can’t jinx something when it’s in parenthesis.)
Jackson Chourio – 3-for-5, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and a slam (10) and legs (12). Ja-Chou, God bless you!
Isaac Collins – 1-for-1, 3 RBIs and his 2nd homer. Fun fact! An Isaac Collins is a cocktail of gin and shirako, a fish sperm sac. Oishii oishii!
Daz Cameron – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs and his 1st homer. Have you seen the German movie Daz Boot? It’s about Daz Cameron’s footwear. Very cool!
Quinn Priester – 5 IP, 1 ER, 5 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.88. Brewers can’t not develop solid pitchers, double negative be damned!
Taylor Ward – 1-for-4, 4 RBIs and his 17th homer. Do me this favor, wait until Ward is no longer on pace for 40 homers, before you ask if he should be dropped.
Jorge Soler – Left the game with groin tightness. At least Soler is tightening one of our groins with his play.
Jose Soriano – 3 2/3 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 4.11. I am a long-time hater of Soriano, but Streamonator hated this start and likes his next, and I don’t see why not.
Ceddanne Rafaela – 1-for-5, 2 RBIs and his 6th homer, and 3rd straight game with a homer. Is there a hotter schmotato? Haha, you’ve discovered the hottest! Can you not recognize hot schmotatoness? Begone, non-recognizer of schmotatoness!
Alex Bregman – Said his rehab is going at warp speed. Original timeline was six weeks, but Bregman heard from his agent, who said, “Don’t you want to get a new contract this winter?” Now his recovery is at warp speed. Crazy how that works.
Lucas Giolito – 1 2/3 IP, 7 ER, ERA at 6.42. Giolito went from happily married and an ace to post-divorce Ben Affleck so disorientated that he’s accidentally smoking his donut and eating his cigarette.
Luzardo or Cease
What do you think we can expect from Teel?
I’ll go over tomorrow w
Kirby Yates or Shelby Miller for saves going forward? Thanks!
Miller
My opponent owns Steven Kolek, Ryan Berget, Andrew Heaney, Jack Leiter, and Colin Rea, Baz LOL. I own Jesus Luzardo. I’m sorry, I’m not asking a single question this season, I’m just complaining, but I admit it lol.
Ouch
Starting Ragans and The Liberator not really working out so far.
Ugh
Effing disaster. Not as if Ragans is going to go 6 for the QS either.
Make it stop.
Awful
I feel it. My trade of Bednar for Liberatore processed in time for this start, and I’m looking dumb AF.
I need a saves only option. Who would you speculate on? Kirby Yates or Randy Rodriguez? Thanks!
Yates
I had a Cease and desist order benching him today until I see signs of improvement. I’m wondering when his actual numbers will catch up with his xERA, SIERA, FIP. He’s throwing a ton of pitches and struggles to even get through 5 inning this season. Something’s wrong with him.
On to another SP…how many more starts and innings do you believe the Royals will allow Bubic?
There’s no reason the Royals won’t let Bubic pitch
Agustin or Stephenson?
Agustin
Someone dropped Lugo so was going to pick him up vs. White Sux tomorrow. Drop Matt Shaw or Parker Meadows? Or I could drop Abbott too. Trying to lose a bench bat unless it’s better to keep those two over Abbott. Who is low man on the totem pole ROS? Or hold? Thanks!
Shaw
Thanks!
Oh Doyle is an option too. Still Shaw?
Yes
No problem
Drop Pfaadt for Lugo or Shane Smith?!
Lugo
Cags or Kurtz?
Cag
Albies or Holliday?
Albies
Which one you getting rid of first
Mize or horton or depends on matchups?
Mize, of course matchups changes things
Good news – one of your competitors blew itself up today with a horrible site redesign. The comment section is hilarious. I predict many new Razzball subscribers in the coming weeks.
Ha
RWire. The comments are roasting the site at 99 to 1 against, at least. It’s the worst website upgrade I e ever seen. Nice job to those asshats.
Who was your batty call today?
Denzel
trying to get steals
I got lucky with Wenceel Perez.
Going for OBP.
Niceel!
Are you taking a chance on EdCab @TB tomorrow?
Sure
2025 Noah Cameron kind of reminds me of 2021 Ranger Suarez. Really boring, but crazy low ratios.
We’ll see after a few more starts
William Contrera or Yeiner Diaz?
Will-Con
When all else fails there is Big Dumper. And the short RF corner in Seattle!
Haha
Suddenly very nervous about my Kremer stream @ OAK tomorrow…
Oh no
Elsewhere, Sheets’ statcast page – my goodness. He’s gotta be owned in a 12er, right?
Also – prefer Sears to Kremer tomorrow? Sears is 13.5 on rthe SON to Kremer’s 7.8, but slightly less well-rated for a QS…
Yes
Are they facing each other? I wouldn’t mess with Kremer or Sears
They are, and noted. Have the Liberator and Ragans facing each other today. Might wait until I see how that plays out…
gotcha
I’m also a little behind the 8-ball on ERA and WHIP (and behind 3-2 in QS) so probably have a little leeway to take a bit of a flyer…
Gotcha
Please rank ros
Bibee,Gallen,M.Kelly
Kelly, Gallen
Trade my $19 Lodolo for any of the following hitters? I’m pretty desperate for solid bats and this owner asked about Lodolo and wanted me to kickstart the trade talks. Keeper/dynasty.
$4 O’Hearn
$4 Hoskins
$7 Norby
$18 Jeremy Pena
$12 Tovar
$12 Jarren Duran
$11 Riley Greene
$16 Doyle
$30 Yordan Alvarez
Sure, Duran, Yordan, Greene, Pena, Doyle
Do you think it’s worth adding Randy Rodriguez and drop Ryan Walker?
Would you add Muncy and drop Vientos?
Thanks!
Sure
Yes
Thoughts on dealing $29 Pepiot for $22 Altuve in a keeper/dynasty? Need a 2B.
Altuve side
Which RP to drop?
Yates (supposed to return this weekend), Finnegan, Pomeranz, Shelby Miller, Robert Garcia, Ronny Henriquez
SV+HLD league where Saves count double
Thanks!
Ronny H
Grey, wtf happened to Luzardo the past two starts? Thoughts on him moving forward in a shallow 10 team league, is he startable?
I just dropped him in one league where I had him…it’ll feel good, lose him
fyi Braves are calling up Kimbrel. Where do you think he fits in ?
2013
Hope the 4th inning of blowouts
Which side wins here in a 12 team fantasy?
A) Bibee
B) Wallner and a 2nd rd pick in 2026 minor league draft
I asked a similar question earlier, but Bibee isn’t a pitcher I’ve eyed much. I’ve got Cowser and Tyler O’Neil returning to slot in at RF.
12 team dynasty, I mean.
Bibee
Please rank Ros Rand Rod, Yates, Robert Garcia
Garcia, Yates
F’n Luzardo again! He crushed my H2H Numbers! WTF! Forget the fact that we never expected all that much out of him this season. Now that he has given us great games, we expect it every time out. Is that too much to ask?????
Brutal
Luzardnooooo!!! He imploded again… 8ER in 2.1IP… that means 20ER in last 5.2IP.
These aren’t regression fairies at work… these are regression B-52s.
He’s probably injured again.
it is pride month
Cry-laughing
That was very not nice
if california had online sportsbook i could make a million dollars betting live lines on teams to blow wins for my starters when they leave the game with a lead
HAHA
no kidding. I’m so far last in wins in 3 leagues that I won’t catch up to 14th until the last week in Sept if I’m lucky
I read this as ‘doing lines and blowing my starters’ and all I can think of is ‘Will that work?!?!” My fantasy teams need all the help they can get!
it doesn’t work….or so i’m told
The recreation fairies are there for you.
Grey
So they are saying Brandon Woodruff was pulled from hi rehab start and suffered a setback
!) Do you see this as another opening to call up Logan Henderson
2) If so, would you drop Ryan Weathers for him
1. They had openings and he’s in the minors
Assuming Yates and Kopech are activated this weekend… which TWO would you roster if speculating on the LAD closer role: Yates, Kopech, and Vesia?
Yates
And would you hang on to Vesia or Kopech as a handcuff or meh?
Kopech seems ok to hold, a lefty’s never gonna be the closer
I mean, unlikely for a long period of time with better options
Tork for Boyd..which side?
Tork, but fair, based on needs
Brutal loss for Braves.
Anyway, 1B: Hold onto Sheets, or drop for Solderstrom or Busch? (Redraft, 12 team, standard 5×5 roto)
Thanks.
Soder
Heyseuss Cristo the legs on Jacie Cags.
HAHA
Good afternoon
I just watched Iglesias get hammered again. Pick up Pierce Johnson or Dylan Lee as next in line?
Thanks as usual
Johnson
Doyle was dropped.
Would you replace Jung Hoo Lee with Brenton Doyle in a 5×5 OBP league H2H?
Replace Doyle with miles straw he’s washed
that’s pretty close. need more floor or more ceiling?
Sure
Better IL stash Vientos or N. Marte?
Vientos
Dropping mize for ed Cabrera, Ben brown, sugano, Ortiz or hold?
Oof. Mize is not looking great. He had a solid-ish start to the year, but I think he must still be injured.
This is happening just after dropping Baz for last nights flop.
Oh no
12-team 5×5 weekly line-up league – Who’s the drop for Yates:
McLain, Doyle, SMiller, McCullers, Roupp, Romano, Cade Horton, or hold?
McLain
Speaking of regression…Noah Cameron better watch out. His siera was 4.75 before today. 99% strand rate. Got another shutout going so far.
Oh boy
I have him in one league which means this never happens to me. My guys are usually on the other end of it where they are doing much better in the stats that dont count like fip, xFIP, siera, etc.
Totally
shhhhhhhh…..they can hear you
Hahaha
What is the first rule of
fight cluba no-hitter?He gave up hits already when i submitted this. I didn’t even look at the box. I just saw a shutout at work
here comes the royals pen to blow it because i’m not allowed to have wins. statcasf has his xera at 3.15 because i think they use quality of contact where sierra and fip just look at results stats rather than skills stats. matt cain i think was the first famous always out pitch his fip guy by staying off the barrel which cameron is really good at. he’ll have a start where he get babip’d though.
How would you rank Cowser, Pages, and Ramos in an obp dynasty league
Ramos, Pages
Hey Grey! I’ve got Wilmer Flores… drop him for Kurtz? Also, how much longer should I be holding on to Campbell… he was so good to start the season!
Thanks !
Nah…lose Campbell
may the fantasy overlords bless and keep noah cameron safe forever amen
this whole season has been one giant closepocalypse
Hahaha
@Grey: weekly roto redraft. last pitching spot, who do you like? holding more for upside ros than immediate needs. logan henderson, ben brown, noah cameron or luis ortiz?
Cameron
who to drop?
mclain, cowser, p meadows, frelick
McLain
Breaking News: Pfaadt made it out of the first inning without giving up a run. Happy days are here at last – post in my league came before the 2nd and 3rd inning
Hahaha
FYI, the site’s RSS feed seems to be broken again. Last update was “Corners Report Is Getting Jac’d In The AL Central” from yesterday.
Ah ok I’ll ping Rudy, thanks!
The regression fairies didn’t forget about Pfaadt. His era was 3.28 on May 8 (four weeks ago). I don’t know how he got away with it for so long. I also don’t get how bad he has been this year. Where are the K’s? I really thought he’d break out this year.
Yeah, he’s cooked
trade – Nico Hoerner for Luis Arraez and Eury Pérez keeper league no plans on keeping Hoerner
Sure
Riley/soderstom or Julio?
Julio, it’s fair
would you start Zach Eflin @Sea today?
Sure
hi Grey. not much to choose from to replace lopez. who does the dart hit ? emerson hancock, povich, dobbins ? would ed rod coming off dl be trustworthy ? thanks .
Povich — no
Hey Grey. How would you rank my staff for ROS? Obviously there’s some injury doubt here.
Eovaldi, Rodon, Ranger, Wacha, Cease, Liberatore, Gilbert (IL), Glasnow (IL)
Rodon, Cease, Eovaldi, Ranger
Hi Grey! I fear with all of the “Randy” love today he’s sure to catch the eyes of the Regression Fairies who’ll give him Peyronies Disease .
Oh cmon!
Hey Grey: First, besides you great insights, I can’t thank you enough for being the most available expert analyst in Fantasy Baseball. What are your thoughts on CES, returning to the Cincy lineup later this week? I’m fairly certain they will give him regular ABs at 1B. Perfect power profile for that ballpark but he has disappointed in the past. Thinking of dropping Mountcastle after the bad news injury update and grabbing CES in a 12 team roto league with OBP.
Wasn’t he hitting .150 before the injury? Meh, he’s fine for power and upside
I apologize for all the permutations. I’m finally moving up in the rankings and considering some trade options and could use your opinion. I’m looking for HR/RBI.
1. Flores or Sheets
2. Doyle or Riley Greene
3. Westburg/Doyle or Pages
4. Westburg/Doyle or Greene
5. Pages or Greene
Thanks for your patience.
Flores 2. Greene 3. West4. Greene 5. Greene — Greene is a top 20 OF
Thank you
No problem
Hey Grey! I’ve got Wilmer Flores… drop him for Kurtz? Also, how much longer should I be holding on to Campbell… he was so good to start the season!
Thanks !
Hi Grey!
In an OBP/SLG 12-team keeper with 3 minor league roster spots, where I’m in the thick of it and need steals, should I take Frelick for Leo De Vries?
Sure
Thanks! Very funny recap today btw. I laughed a lot.
Thanks!
How would you rank Kurtz,Vientos and LAD Muncy ROS?
Randy-Rod over Ryan Walker?
Mauricio worth adding over Tovar or Gleyber? He looks terrible so far.
THANK YOU!
Kurtz, Muncy — over Tovar
Hey yo to the Hey yo!!!
Spec for saves, could you rank Miller, Cruz, and Randy? I’ve got a preference to hold Cruz because he could be that magic closer that can ride an SP spot.
Lurrrrves!
Miller, Randy — lurves!
Starting Cameron @stl?
Is Ronny a bust?
Sure…Ronny Simon?
Have you reached the point where you would bench Gunnar Henderson? I cant believe i am asking this question. The last couple of weeks are pushing me to do something that I would typically never do. I could play someone else and at least get steals if I am not not getting any rbi or home runs.
Nah
Ok. I haven’t got there yet either but I would be lying if I said I didn’t think about it
I hear ya
I’ve already benched him twice this year, not only for his early season IL time. Then again I have ELDC. I’ve benched Julio too, FWIW. I don’t worship in the Play Your Studs church. If the player ain’t performing, he ain’t playing. Got Mookie benched this week at 2B. So far so good. As far as Gunnar goes…ever heard of Pat Listach?
Need to make room for Ragans coming off the IL…would you drop Scott (shaky hold on closer spot), Romano (maybe the same), Lugo, Kiby, or Pepiot? If you say Pepiot, who would be your second choice?
Rank for ROS: Bibee, Gallen, Canning, E. Perez, Pepiot
Thanks!
Pepiot…Romano
Eury, Gallen, Bibee
Roupp, Ben Brown, Michael Soroka
Ranks please, in a 6×6 h2h keeper with k’s/9 as extra cat?
You did
Is Spencer steer just terrible?
Is there reason to hope for anything? I expected 20/20…bro may not even bat .220.
Only reason I’m hanging is he plays everyday, but at this point just cut bait?
You can cut
Kerkering not much better. Phil’s need to trade for Fairbanks.
Never thought Kerkering was good
Struggling for saves (currently rostering Raisel and Romano … ughhh), looking to take a shot on Randy-Rod!!
Would you drop one of Muncy (LAD) or Semien to pick up Randy-Rod? Both guys currently bench bats. If yes, who’s the drop?
Thanks
Semien
Would you drop Romano for Bednar or Kahlne
No
14 team 5×5 redraft roto with OBP. I have Matt McLean who has been barely positive on the player rater and is getting worse. MI is a wasteland in my league, no player available with a positive ROS rating on player rater. Would you gamble on Romy Gonzalez instead of McLean? Is there a minor league stash you would try?
Nope re: Romy, question for Itch on MiLB stash
Thanks, will ask Itch.
Please pick one
Lodolo home vs Arizona
Birdsong home vs Atlanta
Bassitt home vs Philly
Warren home vs Redsox
Birdsong
Brandon Lowe or Albies?
Lowe
R. Lewis or D. Baldwin for a streamer?
Lews@ATH vs Spence
Baldwin vs AZ and Pfaadt
Thank you
Baldwin
Start Ragans to in his return today vsSTL?
2nd game of DH. Thx in advance.
if yes, please bench one below.
QS and Ks
Horton @DET vsPIT
Zebby vsTEX @HOU
Schmidt @KC @BOS
Yes
Clarke
What are your thoughts on Max Muncy being called up by Oakland? Do you expect him to play?
He was extremely bad last time he was called up, so hopefully he doesn’t play
ESPN, 5X5, head to head, 12 team league
Currently I have depth in the OF – Carroll, Chourio, Tucker, Tatis, Crow-Armstrong, Acuna, Langford (we start 5 OF and 2 utility – covers the 7 players listed)
I also have Josh Lowe (bench). My infield is a bit of a weak spot; Hoskins, Shaw, Bichette, Burger and just picked up Max Muncy
Questions:
A. Would you consider trading one of my 7 top OF’s for Jo-Ram? Important to keep in mind it is a 6 player keep forever league (no limits or costs).
B. If the answer to A is yes, in a one for one deal, which players would you (of my 7 OF’s) would you be willing to offer?
Hope this makes sense, thanks for your input!
A. sure B. Langford, Tatis, Acuna, PCA, Chourio
Doyle or Arozarena ROS?
Doyle
Hey Grey,
May I have permission to drop Edman please and thank you. He’s burning a hole in my lineup wile they wait to see if he should be put on the IL, ugh. Already have Yordan in purgatory….
If dropping Edman is the way to go, who would you pick up for this weekend?
Lowe vs MIA
Frelick vs SD
Ward vs SEA
Ward
Re: Edman, am I being too reactionary? Don’t like the sound of his ankle issue recurring.
Probably
Well, Edman is in the lineup after all!
“I am once again asking for your help on injured pitchers with an IL crunch” – B Sanders
Who’s the hold in 12 teamers – Pablo or Glasnow?
Thanks
Barry Sanders said that? Hold Glasnow
No no, I think it’s the chicken guy, Biscuit Sanders.
Ah
5×5 H2H
Tylor Megill
Zebby Matthews
Noah Cameron
Edward Cabrera
Out of these 4 pitchers who would you rather have?
Megill
Pepiot or Bibee?
Bibee
Is Pablo a drop in redraft leagues? Long end of that 8-12 week timetable would have him out until mid-August…
Yes
Your catcher of choice for ROS: Perez, Goodman, Kelly, Wells, O’Hoppe?
Rank these 3B’s ROS: Riley, Devers, Caminero?
Thanks!!
Goodman
Devers, Caminero
Should prolly activate Jazz.
Drop Tovar, Robert Jr, Semien, or Hoskins?
Tovar
As if Mookie’s mysterious weight loss illness wasn’t already enough, now we have the broken left 4th toe malady to contribute to the premature demise of a future Hall of Famer. No one beats Father Time, except maybe Freddie Freeman.
Haha
<Rich Hill has entered the comments.>
Holds and saves are separate cats in 12 team H2H league. I have four closers but no holders right now…. Estevez, Vest, Bautista and Ugh Iglesias. B King, Randy Rod and F Cruz best on WW for holds.
I think my options are drop a closer for a holder. Or drop Barger or X Edwards for one.
They both have been playing while Tucker and Harper were out. One will be on my bench soon. Or I can continue to punt holds in a 19 category league. What would you do?
Barger for Randy-Rod
That’s helpful. Raisel so bad but hard to drop. My draft strategy of picking one closer and then back filling off the wire has not produced as I would have thought. Vest and Estevez have been great to this point. Top two dogs not so much.
Yeah
Well, he can’t say we didn’t try him lol. After that inning, I hit the drop button on Iglesias so hard it cracked my screen. Dude has cost me ratios so many times.
HAHA
Relief pitchers are like running backs. Fungible, and replaceable. I never draft any RPs until my last picks. If I did draft say the three top RPs with my first three picks, gahdamn guarantee you they’d all get hurt or have bad seasons or both. So why waste a draft slot?
Kurtz or Vientos ROS for OBP?
Kurtz
Please rank these injured SP ROS: Ohtani, Glasnow, Snell, Sasaki
That rank seems fine
Man, just mail it in why don’t you!!?!?!
sad emoji
The Spaghetti Factory used to be across the street from Progressive field, so this makes even more sense for Ortiz’ ascension
Perfect
Always appreciate ya, Grey. This is yeoman’s work.
Who do you like better ROS: Nola or Bibee? The player rater has them about even going forward with Nola pitching fewer innings but with a better ERA compared to Bibee.
Given what we’ve seen lately, are you thinking Cease is pitching with an injury? I’m trying to find a trade target to help my pitching staff and he seems like a buy IF he’s not hurt.
Are we thinking Albies heats up as we move into the summer? He has looked more like the 2024 version so far instead of the 2023 version.
No problem — Bibee
No, I think Cease’s mechanics are off
Wouldn’t be shocked to see Albies come out of it
I dropped Pages like a week ago so that I could hold Stowers all because of his hot lava red statcast page. I’m here to repent. Don’t let statcast lead you to bad decisions.
Haha
12 team league-can you rank the following for my U spot:
Flores Adames Shaw Garcia Jr Edman
Wilmer, Edman
Andrew Painter – I read he was a prospect – I mean everybody was a prospect – so going forward for a keeper league can he put up big numbers
I hope so, and soon
hey Grey,
i hope you are doing well! In a shallow OBP league…
Drop 1: Ben Rice or Colton Cowser (more so concerned with ROS)
thank you!
Rice
I have Volpe at SS and he’s beyond boring as you know. Would you drop him for Rafaela, Masyn Winn or Edman?
Edman
Hey Grey, Ray v SD or deGrom @ TB? Thanks
deGrom
I’m assuming you agree McClain sucks and can be dropped like Hans Gruber off the roof?
Rank in order ROS (or did I just do?):
Ronny mo
Kody Clemens
Colt Keith
Andres Giminez
NiGo
Jeff McNeil
Thanks for the advice
Good username! Ronny, Andres
Rest of season, kindly rank the following:
Yainer Diaz
Rutschman
Ivan Herrera
Ivan, Yainer
Do you think Cole Henry gets saves if Finnegan gets traded?…What about Randy Rodriguez if Dovel starts to crumble again? Thank you!!
No, and yes
Is Dominic Smith really just Dominic Brown in disguise?
Say Dominic Brown 3 times and Tehol shows up
blast from the past
Haha
I was just wondering, the other day, what ever happened to Tehol and Anime Grey. And for those who have been RAZZBALL followers for a long time, let’s never forget the Jose Canseco interview!
Haha, yes!
Deep league, ESPN points, ROS…please rank top 3 (yeah I know its ugly)
Civale
Povich
Quantrill
Sean Burke
Soroka
Thanks
You did
I have one more move for the week. Pick up May or McCullers?
McCullers
10 team league and drafted Albies in the 4th. Luckily I was able to get Lowe, but is Albies a drop? He’s pretty much sucked for over 2 years now.
Sure
Here’s a guy who called for a Randy Rod yesterday! What? What’d I say?
Randy Rod to the Dick Pole all star team.
Oak Jr and I spent quite a while discussing the fantasy baseball version of Schroeding’s stupid dead cat yesterday. That is, prior to us making our line up decisions, Ladies Love (oak jr has adopted this term), his start was both terrible and beautiful. it was only when we made our line up decision that his fate was decided. by leaving him out, we guaranteed his success, but putting him in would have guaranteed an Oberhoucking. no way around it.
Rusty Kuntz likes this post.
Hehe
*stares longingly towards the heavens pondering otherworldly Ginger Minge*
HAHAHA…It never fails, bench him and he will be great, start him and death becomes your team
Would you trade Wallner and a 3rd round pick for Tanner Bibee? 12 team dynasty
This is my counter to being offered Bibee and Paddack for Wallner and a 2nd rounder.
Sure
Should I drop one of these guys for Eury Perez: Matt Liberatore, Zach Eflin, Lance McCullers?
Thanks for the help, Grey!
Trade Eury Perez to me
Eflin
I started Pivetta and Harrison in the same game! Thought, wow could be low ratios, high Ks, and a good chance at a W! But at least I had Randy Rodriguez in the same game.
HA, ouch
Grey! In an OBP league, pick one: Volpe or Vinny P.
Long may your stache reign!
Volpe, thank you!
Good Morning!
1) Roupp or Liberatore? Are they close?
2) Trade either for Jhoan D (other guy wants a SP that qualifies as a RP)?
That’s all for now. Gracias.
I’d make that trade for Duran for either one.
Keeper league where I’m out contention this year.
Trade Acuna for Junior Caminero? Acuna will cost me an additional 50% of the buy in next year and increases each year. Caminero basically free right now.
Nah
Hi Grey! Was offered his Seiya for my Degrom in a 14 man CATS (OPS and QS). Definitely like it but my OF is already Langford, Chourio, Greene with Vlad at 1B and Cags at UTIL. Worth doing and then flipping one of my OFs or Vlad/Cags? Rotation can withstand losing Degrom
Sounds fair
Hi Grey- in a 12 team league with Scwellnbach, Sonny Gray, Mahle, Liberatore, Boyd, Ober, Gallen, Chad Patrick, Noah Cameron and Cade Horton as my pitcher but Baty as my 3B while Vientos is on IL.
Would you do the following:
1. Trade Sonny Gray for Junior Caminero and Pfaadt
2. trade Boyd for Brendan Donovan
3. Pick up a waiver 3B like Willi Castro, Matt Shaw, Chase Meredith, Norby
4. None of the above
12 team redraft h/h points
Which side ?
Riley..Mahle..Friedl
Acuna..Ranger Suarez..M Garcia ( KC )
Acuna
Grey, remember that oblique issue that Gunnar had at the start of the season….0-4 last night and now NO 172 in ROTO….am I nuts for thinking he isn’t healthy and we won’t find out uintil the obligatory “best shape of life” stories hit next spring??
He’ll be great next year, not happening this year
Why, you think he’s hurt?
Yes
Thanks….I think. lol
Haha, hopefully he comes out of it, sure doesn’t seem like he’s right
His Ks are up a bit, but he is still crushing the ball….bat speed is there.
Ok
I wasn’t disagreeing with you so much as struggling to see why he sucks right now….I agree he doesn’t seem right.
Oblique, altered his swing and he’s hitting everything into the ground — my guess, I don’t know
Probably…sweet spot% down from 54 to 4%….line drives down, ground balls up.
Yeah, or it’s still bothering him which altered his swing, same result tho
Probably need to hold and hope he gets right as opposed to selling low.
Thanks.
No problem
(1) FAAB league with 8 keepers. Should I drop Mize for Abel?
(2) Saves and Holds separate categories: Doval or Rich Rodriguez?
(3) Saves and Holds separate categories. Robert Garcia or Rich Rodriguez?
Kerkering? Kerkering?? Isn’t his picture in the glossary for Cuddle Boy??? Let me check my copy of the $350 bound edition you were selling in 2013 … yes, it is. (Amazingly prescient, Grey!)
HAHA, thank you for buying!
5×5 OBP H2H
Masyn Winn or Addison Barger?
Also, one last thing below!
Joe Ryan
For
Wyatt Langford
Which player would you want in the trade? Assuming you had good hitting and pitching.
Thanks Grey!
Winn
Langford
Ceddanne Rafaela hits very short homers. They count, but they’re short (308 feet).
Ha, yup
Kelly is obviously great. He now has 2 of the top 15 on the 100 Best Fantasy Starts list!!!!
11 Merrill Kelly Jun 4 @ATL
14 Merrill Kelly May 18 vs COL
58 MacKenzie Gore Jun 4 vs CHC
GREAT! haha, nice
Apples and oranges I know, but Gallen or Castellanos ROS? Was offered Castellanos after Gallen’s good start this week. Thanks!
Gallen
No mention of Raisel
Iglesias blowing the game for the Braves after Sale pitched a gem! Ughhh…..do I cut Raisel
Iglesias from my fantasy team? Braves bullpen is lacking which is why they keep him as closer.
Nah, unless league is very shallow
Yikes I made a trade without asking you
I got Kyle Schwarberf for Gore
Time to replace Gore off the waiver wire with 1/4 Gore type pitcher
Nice trade!
Drew Pomeranz is schedule to start and pitch only the !st inning of a combine pitching effort game – I don’t see enough positives to keep him in my lineup – there could be plenty of negatives
Start or sit
Pass. What does it do for you to start him?
I shut out inning with 1 K
Sit
Grey!!!
Awesome!!!
Rodney Dangerfield quote of the day for June 5, 2025
One year they asked me to be poster boy – for birth control.
Cheers,
Ante
Thanks!
1. for holds and good ratios which reliever would you pick: Reed Garret, Randy Rodriguez, Fernando Cruz, Tyler Rogers, Phil Maton, Jeremiah Estrada, Matt Brash, shelby Miller
2. For saves and good ratios which would you pick: Jordan Romano, Justin Martinez, David Bednar, Kenley Jansen,
