Ken Burns - The Tenth Inning

Postby bookiebob » Wed Sep 29, 2010 1:51 pm

DVR alert - part 2 is on tonight!

http://www.pbs.org/baseball-the-tenth-inning/

I missed most of Part 1, but got to see a brief clip of a young Ken Griffey Jr. Wow - he had the most beautiful, natural swing I've ever seen.

Steroids, the '94 strike (didja know the Expos had the best record in baseball when the strike hit?), the '04 Red Sox.

If you appreciate baseball in any small amount, take the time to watch.

If you want me to look at your team, post the team. Don't post a link to another site where the team is.
Have you given me all the info I need to judge your team? The number of teams in the league is a good start for the big overall questions.
Is your league H2H? Roto?
I don't know who's on your waivers. Don't just ask me who you should pick up. Give me names to choose from.
If you only have one team, post your team in your signature with the league parameters.
I don't know every single matchup for next week, so if you want me to choose a player for the following week and you think the matchups are important, tell me who they're facing.

It look like the next airing is scheduled for Monday Nov 8 (Part 1), and then Monday Nov 15 (Part 2).

That gives you time to rent/borrow/buy the original series from 1994. It runs 18 1/2 hours, and is worth every minute of it.

"Major themes explored throughout the documentary are those of race, business, labour relations and baseball and society. It is also said to have had an audience of 45 million viewers, which would make it the most watched program in Public Television history."

Hmmm... I've heard some criticism that this series is BORING. But as I haven't watched it myself, I can't say.

I'll check it out anyways because, you know, I like baseball or somethin'.

It also contains the 10th inning, Parts 1 & 2, covering 1994 through 2009.
