We’re back! Another week in the books, another to look forward to. Remember, kids: it’s still April, and while yes, you need to react to what’s happening in the baseball world, it’s not yet time to start cutting players you spent real draft capital on. That comes later. I know this isn’t a FAAB/Waivers/Strat column, […]

Fantasy baseball players are always taking stock of their roster – at least the smart players do. Doing so is often the difference between winning the league title and finishing short of making the playoffs.
With the MLB season now more than two weeks old, everyone is scouring the waiver wire to see who they should add to the roster. Depending on the size of your league and rosters, there is either a lot of talent or a lot of players who are hanging on for their baseball survival.
There are two players who appear on a lot of waiver wires who I want to talk about this week – Andrew Vaughn of the Chicago White Sox and Jo Adell of the Los Angeles Angels of Orange County of Anaheim of California of the United States of America.
Right now, Vaughn is rostered on 62 percent of Yahoo leagues and only 52% of ESPN leagues. Meanwhile, Adell is currently rostered in only 44 percent of Yahoo leagues and 13% of ESPN leagues.
Snag or pass?
If you follow baseball, and if you are reading this I assume you do, then you know of both players. They have not snuck up on anyone as both are former first round draft picks. But unlike other top prospects like Spencer Torkelson or Julie Rodriguez, they have not received the same amount of fan attention.
Perhaps it is because they didn’t burst onto the scene and put up crazy numbers in the majors. But now is the time to ask – should I snatch Vaughn or Adell – or both?
Let’s dive into the numbers and find out.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Last week was fantastic. All five of our pitching streamers did well, and it has me excited to keep rolling here. One thing that you need to know about me is that I play in about 30 fantasy leagues (Yes, I’m a degenerate). That means I use these streamers and gamble on these guys regularly […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Markus “Mookie” Betts filled up the stat line Friday night with his first…and second…bomb of the season, along with two walks and a SB for good measure. For those counting at home, that’s 52.6 points in FanDuel. Did you have him in a lineup? He’s been maintaining a DFS salary more indicative of his history […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Over the past few seasons, I’ve grown confident in my ability to play the timeline game along with major league front offices. This year feels different. We’re beyond what’s typically the first Super Two threshold, and I’m ready to spin the wheel, but I’m uncertain about the rules.
Will teams slam the brakes if they didn’t promote a guy on opening day, knowing they’ll be “punished” if that player earns rookie of the year votes?
Survey says . . . probably, if past behavior is the best predictor of future choices.
By the way, before we go further, I should say I hope and pray some of the baseball writers know the rules enough to push good rookies up their ballots. I don’t really care about who finishes in the top five in these awards, and I think the same goes for most fans, but I want to see the players get a W at the negotiating table for the long-term health of the game, particularly where young players are concerned.
So who’s potentially stuck in this no-win position created by the recent Collective Bargaining Agreement? Let’s check the list.
Please, blog, may I have some more?Offense has been down across the league. It’s unclear if has to do with the humidor or a new baseball. Knowing MLB it’s likely a mix of both but have patience with your hitters as we don’t fully understand this new run scoring environment. As always, set your lineups first, identify needs and bid with […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Just two weeks or so into the regular season and it is time to start jostling those rankings. We have some big moves in the early going with some big names. While it certainly is early and not the time to overreact to small sample sizes, there are a few guys that are moving up due to delivering on early promise such as Seiya Suzuki. However, the biggest surprise in our rankings this week might be a year-over-year first rounder that seems to be trending in the wrong direction. Will fortune favor the bold or will you and I regret moving on from Mookie Betts. In this week’s article we run down the Top 100 Hitters for the rest of the 2022 fantasy baseball season and see who is moving up, who is moving down and where we need to keep a watchful eye over the coming weeks.
Please, blog, may I have some more?OK, Good Friday was last week and my headline is invalid. Not so fast, I’m obviously referring to Orthodox Good Friday. Yes, some of us are just a little more Christian than others. The good Fantasy Lord has blessed us with some real mediocre to bottom-barrel saviors this past Good-er (Better?) Friday, and if you’re […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Quick recap through two plus weeks shows strikeouts and homeruns are both down. Knowing what I pay for when I go to a MLB game, I prefer both of those statistics to increase. I think as the weather warms up and starting pitching arms move away from the ‘dead arm’ phase that normally hits in […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Gather ’round all for the weekly Razzball fantasy baseball injury round up! While I certainly did not mean to foreshadow the COVID-19 outbreak of this week in last week’s edition of Ambulance Chasers, I did. Oblique injuries are so “out”, and COVID-19 is very “in”. In fact, it is “in” a few MLB players. Do […]

(NOTE: THIS POST WAS RELEASED EARLY THIS WEEK ON OUR PATREON. IT’S $10/MONTH.)
So the other day I was talking about how Joe Maddon was only playing Tyler Wade and Taylor Ward because it would confuse people into thinking they were in a sequel to Multiplicity and no one would be able to focus on trying to get them out, but, while I was saying that, I called them, Tyler Ward and Taylor Wade, and not one person corrected me in the comments, and y’all always be correcting me. See, I can’t even keep them straight. I’d attest Taylor Ward and Tyler Wade are the most confusing player names to ever be on the same team. They are more confusing than all of the Luis Garcias, because at least the Luis Garcias are all the same name. Taylor Wade and Tyler Ward–damn it! I did it again!–are so confusing, that their jerseys have the first two initials on the back before the last name, but their last names are not the same! The Taylor/Tyler Conundrum! Or rather the Twangel Dee And Twangel Conundrum! What if they don’t exist–Or what if they both exist but give different stats? Schrödinger’s Categories? Taylor Wade–Ward is your garden variety 25/2/.270 middle-of-the-order hitter. Your brand new version of Jared Walsh. Maddon also seems to love him, playing him every day in a good lineup position. Or he’s confused, and really loves Tyler Ward–Wade! He’s a 20+ steals middle infielder, who makes decent contact. Imagine David Fletcher. Now, forget him and picture someone with a name similar to Taylor Ward–Wade! No! Wait, Ward! I was right! I think. Anyway, here’s some more players to Buy or Sell this week in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more? We’re three weeks into April, the season is in full swing, and that weird lockout nightmare that we all suffered through for most of the winter feels like a fuzzy memory. It’s still early, but we probably all have a completely new outlook on the fantasy baseball landscape. For the moment my offseason obsessions with […]
