Now that we are a few weeks into the season, the stolen base landscape is beginning to take shape. The current leader in the clubhouse is Jorge Mateo with seven stolen bases thus far. At this point in the season, it is important to begin evaluating our rosters and gauging team needs. It is important […]

Above Yankee Stadium last night was a transparent cherub, sitting on the clouds — rosy cheeks, belly full of gabagool, Italian flag wife beater shirt. It was the one and only American actor, James Gandolfini, and next to him was the American actress, Nancy Marchand, who famously played his mother. Together, they smiled down on the Italian stallions, Joey Gallo, who went 1-for-4, and his 1st homer; Aaron Judge, whose name ends in a vowel, went 2-for-5, 2 runs and his 4th homer, and Anthony Rizzo who went 3-for-4, 4 runs, 6 RBIs, 6th, 7th, and 8th homers, because last night the Yankees went ayo whaddya know bada bing bada boom. Though, Rizzo went bada bing bada boom bada bing bada boom bada bing bada boom. The three bada bing bada booms were previously reserved for guys from Staten Island and celebrated on special occasions like a baptism or when someone buys a Corvette. So far, Anthony Rizzo’s year couldn’t be coming at a better place for a true Zombino. The short porch was made for him. First, the Yankees Letter, then Anthony Rizzo’s 3-homer night. Not since Babe Ruth homered the night he torched his house with his lovely wife inside, have the Yankees had such a roller coaster day. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more? The Intro Last year after showing up to camp with improved velocity, Trevor Rogers was a huge breakout pitcher. I was lucky enough to grab him on a few teams and thusly reap those benefits. He was touching 97/98 mph after previously averaging 93 on his fastball. The velocity gains proved to be a difference-maker. […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?First of all, a big thank you to Rudy for getting his Razzball Commenter Leagues robots crunching the numbers we all know and love. We now have real, live standings here in week two! It’s awesome to have a starting point for the Master Standings in the early going and it’s much easier to collect […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? What’s good, Razzfools? Yes, that’s me starting a second consecutive SAGNOF report with the same pun. If it ain’t broken, amirite? Here’s the best and worst of the past week (note: yesterday’s games do not factor in): Josh Hader had himself a week: 4 SV, 4 IP, 1 H, buncha zeroes, then 5 K. No […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Howdy everyone. The Great Knoche here, new DFS writer at Razzball, but certainly not new to Razzball. I’ve been hanging around these parts for around decade. That’s long enough to have accumulated the knowledge to have finished 9th overall in the RCL standings in 2019, That’s long enough to remember when J-FOH also known as […]
Please, blog, may I have some more? The early season hasn’t been kind to a number of players on both sides of the ball. Grey and B_Don are here to go over some of them and discuss whether you should be panicking or just staying the course. We start the show by talking about the lack of offensive production in general. Then, […]

At one point, the Brewers’ color man, Bill Schroeder said, “Looks effortless, doesn’t it?” And no truer thing has been said. The next closest truest thing is when I said, “It would almost be worth being on death row for a crime you didn’t commit, just to have your life VO’d by Dateline’s Keith Morrison.” Brewers’ pitching coaches make everyone better — they turned Eric Lauer into 1986 Roger Clemens — but when they have something to work with, like Corbin Burnes (6 2/3 IP, 0 ER, 4 baserunners, 11 Ks, ERA at 1.75)? Well, then the entire enterprise is firing on all cylinders. Just an absolute joy to watch. Sure, I don’t draft top starters, but I appreciate them just the same. 26 swings and misses, best of the season. Unfair cutters? Oh, he had some of those. Filthy curves? He threw some of those too. Elevated 97 MPH fastballs? Yeah, there were those too. Didn’t really understand in the preseason when people were drafting starters high, but even more confounding were the people drafting starters before Burnes. He is the best starter in baseball. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more?I’ll be honest: a lot of the job of a fantasy sports writer is constrained by search engine optimization and giving audiences what they expect. This article, for example, is ostensibly about starting pitchers. But what *is* a starter, anyway? So many teams are using openers now. So many teams are letting pitchers go 4.2 IP, or piggybacking, or bullpen games, or long reliever, or, or, or. And tee-bee-ache (pronounce that last word softly, like you’re staring longingly into its eyes waiting for the next clause), starters don’t require a mass of innings pitched to be effective for fantasy baseball. In 2021, Corbin Burnes finished SP5 with 167IP, Carlos Rodon SP10 with 132IP, Jacob deGrom SP13 with 92IP (!), Freddy Peralta SP14 with 144IP, and so on. Unless you’re in one of those quality starts league — which I established in the pre-season were just different ways of slandering a Win — you could really roll with any number of “pitchers,” broadly speaking, and do fine.

Please, blog, may I have some more?Ty France leads all hitters in fantasy points? Is this some sort of joke? If so, I don’t get it.
