I don’t ask much of you, my readers. Usually just that you read my sometimes rambling thoughts on fantasy baseball. But now I will ask something more of you. Finish what you started, bring home that championship. That’s not so hard, really I’m just asking you to keep doing what you’ve been doing. Just a few short weeks are all that separate you from what I can only assume is a very large trophy. You have to be a little bit pickier with who you start now because the pressure has been turned up a couple notches. Can you feel it? However, that doesn’t mean the wire is completely bare. Just because a guy is on a hot streak doesn’t mean he’s the answer to your prayers but there are always some guys out there who can give you immediate points. Let’s bring it home.

It’s Thursday, September 15th and FanDuel is offering a six-game main slate that starts at 6:40pm Eastern Time. Paul Goldschmidt and the Saint Louis Cardinals are heavy favorites, along with Yordan Alvarez and the Houston Astros, but really a lot of the players across the board are in similar spots. At $4,600 Goldy is so […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Julio Rodriguez (2-for-3, 2 runs) slammed (26) and leggsed (25) his way to history. Arod once went 40/40 for them, which begs the question, “Why don’t the Mariners sign more Rodriguezes?” Didn’t they learn from Baltimore when they stopped signing Robinsons? So, Julio Rodriguez becomes the fastest to 25/25 in just 125 games, beating Mike Trout (128 games), and Julio Rodriguez becomes the fastest to be the apple of my eye. The bounce in my step. The who in my ha. The cha-ching on my register. The Chachi on my Happy Days. The hill in my soap box derby. The wind beneath my Barbara Hersey wings. The TV without the motion smoothing. The cooler that holds a backup kidney if I need one. Belting at the top of my lungs, “You are my sunshine. My only sunshine!” BDon and I talk in the video at the top of the page about where do Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani fall in the 2023 fantasy baseball drafts, but Julio Rodriguez in 2023 fantasy? Is he any later than top 5? Before or after Judge? Ohtani? I’m not trying to commit just yet, but they’re all gonna be in that general vicinity. “General vicinity” is a fantasy baseball ‘pert’s greatest hedge. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
Please, blog, may I have some more?Brewers OF Jackson Chourio has been promoted to Double-A at the age of 18, which is a little surprising but only because most teams don’t operate this way. Chourio would’ve likely opened next season at Double-A in a lot of organizations after posting a 119 wRC+ in High-A. They just would’ve let him play out the month at the lower level. I like how the Brewers are being aggressive and flexible in trying to keep challenging a player as unique as Chourio.
Please, blog, may I have some more?As we move into the home stretch of the regular season, I’m going to change up the Corner Infield Mashup and give you my fantasy highs and lows for 2023. It may be September 14, but it’s never too early to start planning for next draft season. Today I’ll focus on the hot corner. My […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?A quick look at the calendar today had me both excited but also a bit disappointed. As we charge down the figurative train tracks of September headlong into the beginning of October, the excitement of playoff baseball is clearly gathering steam. Unfortunately, that means MarmosDad has but 3 more DFS wordsmith Wednesdays for you all. […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Rocco Baldelli asked to see James Karinchak’s hair this past weekend to see if he had any foreign substance in there, to see if he was cheating, and I said, in my head, “Karinchak is getting a call from the manager, so that makes Baldelli a Karencheck,” and now Karencheck pulled Joe Ryan (7 IP, 0 ER, 2 walks, 9 Ks, ERA at 3.83) from a no-hitter in the 7th with 106 pitches thrown. Karencheck! You wanna make new rules, MLB? (By the way, in the video at top of this post, it’s this week’s podcast, where BDon and I discuss the new rules — it’s about 10 minutes in.) How about this new rule, no matter what, if the player is healthy, they have to pitch if there’s a no hitter? Make that a rule, you sissies! *puts chew in bottom lip, accidentally swallows chew, vomits up chew and vomit spells out “THAT’S WHAT REAL MEN DO”* My vomit is calling you out, Karencheck! Joe Ryan’s peripherals are 9.3 K/9, 2.9 BB/9, 4.40 xFIP and a hilariously terrible ground ball rate (26.6%), so he’s very susceptible to homers, and that burned him at times this year. How’sever, Joe Ryan for 2023 fantasy, I’m still a believer, as long as he doesn’t show up at camp with a dead arm (lots of IP this year). He’s a rookie, who had excellent command in the minors, and hasn’t scratched that surface yet. Joe Ryan for 2023 fantasy will be an ace or need to be shutdown in the spring with arm issues. Roll that dice, you momma’s boys, and don’t make me spell out things in my vomit anymore! Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

Please, blog, may I have some more? For the first time in twenty weeks, there is a team leading the Razzball Commenter Leagues Master Standings that doesn’t start with “MattTruss”. I am shook. I don’t know what to do with myself. I don’t know where to turn. My reality is crumbling as existential dread sets in. Alright, it isn’t that bad and […]

Please, blog, may I have some more? For everyone saying that Shohei Ohtani is doing something we’ve never seen before, I’m calling bullshit. We saw it last year by a player named Shohei Ohtani. Is it impressive? Absolutely. Are we witnessing history? I dunno. He can hit and he can pitch, and that’s awesome. But he’s a two-trick pony that’s performed the […]
Please, blog, may I have some more?Last four weeks of the season means last four DFS articles from your favorite DFS writer other than all those other folks. We’ve been struggling on our picks in DFS, but rocking things in the Lines in Vegas segment and in our general baseball betting plays. Hopefully, I can turn the DFS around tonight! I’ll […]
