For those of you following along so far this DFS season y’all know my hitter selections have been to put it mildly…. underwhelming. I trust my process, however, and I’ll continue to lay out some of my top options each Tuesday here for you at Razzball. Just remember it’s baseball and anything can happen any given night. The ship will get turned around. My MLB betting selections have been on fire and the DFS will follow shortly. I’m just saying I wouldn’t put my selections into a $500 Head to Head until they do.
I’ll be bringing you my DFS picks for the main evening slate on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023. If you play on DraftKings, it is an 12-game slate starting at 6:05 Central time. This article will be primarily focused on the DraftKings slate, so if you play on Fanduel I encourage you to sign up for the DFS tools to help you make the best decisions for your lineups on FanDuel, DraftKings, and Yahoo.

Jordan Montgomery, SP: $7,400. Well, I went down to the Grundy County Auction. Where I saw something I just had to have. My mind told me I should proceed with caution, But my heart said, “Go ahead and make a bid on that”. Well that something I had to have is a Lefty Vs. The Milwaukee Brewers. The Crew has an MLB worst .618 OPS vs lefties and is striking out in 34% of their At-bats against them. Montgomery hasn’t been lights out by any stretch with a very much in line 4.11 ERA (Grey said a 4.00 ERA is good this AM so let’s just go with it). He’s still initiating ground balls at over a 45% clip. Don’t be afraid to Buy Jordan tonight. Just not Jordan Walker. Sorry Grey.
Clayton Kershaw, SP: $11,000. Yup. I’m spending the cash on Kershaw. The second worst team against lefties in the majors is the Twins with a .636 OPS. They are striking out 30% of the time against lefties. Kershaw meanwhile has been amazing. He has struck out 6 or more batters in 6 of 8 starts and has quality starts in 6 of 8 outings. His only struggle has been the long-ball allowing 7 so far on the year.
Shea Langeliers, C: $3,300. Shea homered on Sunday for the first time in 13 games, and has hits in 6 of 8 games. He’ll face Lefty Tommy Henry on Tuesday night who has been a little lucky so far with a 4.43 ERA, but a 6.24 xFIP. Let’s see if the regression fairies show up for him tonight.
Christian Walker, 1B: $4,100. Walker has slowed from his torrid pace earlier this month but has still produced above this price point with 9 Home Runs and 28 RBIs on the year. He’ll get a juicy match-up against lefty Kyle Muller who only has a 6.39 K/9 and a 7.34 ERA coming into tonight.
Marcus Semien, 2B: $5,800. I have to find some value somewhere, but it isn’t at second base as I fade my third lefty going tonight. Jared Shuster is the one getting the fade here with his 8.31 ERA. Semien has hit safely in 11 of 12 and has 7 Home Runs on the season.
Matt McLain, SS: $2,000. Guessing McLain will be in over 50% of lineups, but at $2,000 he’s gotta be involved with the mix I have going so far. McLain has shot through the minors, and at AAA this year has 12 Home Runs and 10 Stolen bases in 173 plate appearances. That’s good folks. Plus he’s in Coors! I’m still mad Son snagged him 11 minutes before I tried to grab him in The Perts League Sunday night. He’ll face Chase Anderson who was claimed off waivers from the Rays. Anderson will likely work middle relief most of the time, and isn’t stretched out. This should be a bullpen game for the Rockies. The Rockies bullpen isn’t good.
Nick Senzel, 3B: $4,600. I’ll take a shot on Senzel also in Coors. He has stayed healthy and has hits in 11 of his last 15 contests including 3 Home Runs. Why shouldn’t we see if he can keep smacking the ball around in Denver.
Adolis Garcia, OF: $5,400. Looking for the Rangers offense to bounce back after getting humbled by Charlie Morton Monday night. Love his match-up against Shuster. Adolis looks like he’s gonna put up similar numbers to the last few years. He already is at 42 RBIs on the season.
Ramon Laureano, OF: $3,000. I think having two Athletics in the lineup is sacrilegious, but it makes sense against Tommy Henry.
Esteury Ruiz, OF: $3,400. How about three Athletics??? Guess who hasn’t been awful against lefties? The Athletics with a .755 OPS against them. A lot of that success is Brent Rooker who has a 1.169 OPS and 5 Home Runs off left handed pitching. So if you wanna get him in tonight I don’t blame you. Ruiz had a 10 game hit streak snapped last week, but he’s seeing the ball well, and the Athletics have scored against subpar pitching.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Chance of some storms in Denver and some rain showers in Baltimore, but that’s it. Strong winds blowing out in Detroit, Chicago, Boston and Denver.

I did mention I do a bit of Sports Handicapping. Follow me on Twitter @TheGreatKnoche for more info. I’ll give out a Free Play here every Tuesday, but you can find all my free and premium picks for MLB and a few other sports at The Odds Breakers
Lots of overs on Monday night, I think they put the good balls back in this last week after scoring slowed down some the first week of May. The number is big for a game in Oakland at 9, but I think as outlined above the hitters have the advantage. I’ll have the Over 9 tonight.
