The nine-game FanDuel slate for today has one clear cut ace on the bump. That ace is none other than the Boston Red Sox’s Chris Sale. The Boston southpaw has been downright filthy as of late. He has struck out double-digit batters in seven of his last eight starts to improve his K% to a slate high 34.9%. On the season Sale has lowered his SIERA to an impressive 2.91. There is no reason to believe that Sale cannot continue to improve on all of his numbers in this one. The Rangers have struck out in 26.4% of their at-bats against left-handed pitching this season. Sale has also dominated this current Rangers’ roster. He has held them to a .175/.226/.285 slash line in 154 career at-bats. 53 of those encounters with Sale ended in a punchout.
While he is certainly is not on sale with a price tag of $11,800 on FanDuel, Chris Sale is set up to be the top raw point scorer for Monday’s DFS contests.

Hyun-Jin Ryu, SP: $10,700 – If you are looking for safety in a starting pitcher, look no further. Ryu is the definition of safe this season. He enters his start on Monday having thrown a quality start in eight straight starts. While the Angels don’t strike out against lefties, with a low 15.3% K rate, they also don’t really produce against them either. Los Angles has a .241 batting average against southpaws in 2019.
Anthony Rizzo, C/1B: $4,700 – Rizzo has smashed against right-handed pitching this season. He has a .298 ISO and a .416 wOBA versus them in 2019. And now he faces a righty in the thin air of Colorado.
Gary Sanchez, C/1B: $4,200 – The Mets’ Jason Vargas did not enter 2019 throwing very hard. And since the start of the season, the Mets’ starter has seen his velocity drop almost two MPH on his fastball. That’s a good thing for Sanchez. The Yankees’ catcher owns a 1.015 OPS versus finesse pitchers this season.
Luke Voit, C/1B: $4,200 – Voit has a .224 ISO versus left-handed pitching this season. And just like his teammate Sanchez, he crushes finesse type pitchers. He has a 1.003 OPS against them in 2019.
Josh Bell, C/1B: $4,500 – Atlanta’s Kevin Gausman has thrown a fastball on more than 56% of his pitches this season. If that trend continues Monday, look for Josh Bell to rake in this matchup. The Pirates’ first baseman has a .348 ISO versus fastballs this season.
DJ LeMahieu, 2B: $3,700 – Picking on Jason Vargas is a common theme today but for good reason. The pitcher’s 5.05 SIERA and 5.00 xFIP suggests trouble is coming for him as early as today. With LeMahieu owning a .393 wOBA and a 149 wRC+ versus lefties this season, expect the Yankees’ infielder to be in the mix if the Yankees’ get to Vargas.
Brandon Lowe, 2B: $3,400 – Oakland recalled Tanner Anderson to start tonight against the Tampa Bay Rays. In the minors, this season, The Athletics’ starter struggled with left-handed bats. He allowed a .356 batting average while walking more lefties than he struck out. Brandon Lowe should thrive in this spot. The Rays’ infielder has a .252 ISO and a .372 wOBA against righties in 2019.
Eduardo Escobar, 3B: $3,800 – The Diamondbacks’ infielder is in position to carry some FanDuel lineups on Monday as he faces the Phillies’ Jerad Eickhoff. The Phillies’ starter is allowing a .384 wOBA and 2.65 HR/9 versus left-handed batters this season. Combined with Escobar’s .237 ISO versus right-handed pitching, and you have some serious firepower.
Yoan Moncada, 3B: $4,000 – The Nationals’ Anibal Sanchez has struggled with left-handed bats this season. He is allowing a .384 wOBA and a 2.49 HR/9 to lefty bats in 2019. With Moncada owning a .264 ISO and a .384 wOBA versus righties this season, it is easy to see why this is a good spot for Moncada.
Kris Bryant, 3B: $4,600 – The Rockies’ German Marquez is by definition a groundball pitcher. He has a 53.5% groundball rate in 2019. This plays right into the hands of Kris Bryant. In his career, the Cubs’ slugger has a .330 batting average against groundball pitchers.
Javier Baez, SS: $4,600 – Just like teammate Kris Bryant, Javy Baez has done well against groundball pitchers. The Cubs’ infielder has a 1.074 OPS against such pitchers in 2019. He should continue to perform at that level tonight, with the Rockies’ Marquez allowing a 40.6% hard contact rate to righties.
Trevor Story, SS: $4,700 – It is tough to not consider Story anytime that he is at home. At Coors Field, the shortstop has a .342/.411/.693 slash line.
Gleyber Torres, SS: $3,400 – The Yankees’ shortstop has thrived against finesse type pitchers, just like many of his other teammates. 10 of his 14 home runs this season have come against finesse pitchers.
Kyle Schwarber, OF: $3,800 – The Cubs’ outfielder has always enjoyed his visits to Coors Field. In five games in Colorado, Schwarber has a .375/.500/.625 slash line with a 1.125 OPS.
Bryce Harper, OF: $4,100 – The Diamondbacks’ Taylor Clarke is allowing a .371 wOBA and a 40.5% hard contact rate to lefties this season. Look for Harper to get back on track tonight.
Starling Marte, OF: $3,900 – The Pirates’ outfielder has a .210 ISO versus the fastball this season. So just like teammate Josh Bell, look for Marte to do quite well against Kevin Gausman, as he throws a fastball on more than 56% of his pitches.
David Peralta, OF: $3,700 – Look for Peralta to take advantage of the Phillies’ Eickhoff’s struggles against lefties. The outfielder has a .271 ISO and a .394 wOBA against righties in 2019.
Cody Bellinger, OF: $4,700 – Both Bellinger and teammate Joc Pederson are solid plays on Monday. Bellinger owns a .361 ISO against right-handed pitching this season.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
It looks like rain could play a big factor during Monday’s MLB action. Precipitation is expected in New York, Philadelphia, and Atlanta. New York looks like the game that will be most impacted by the rain, so be sure to check the weather prior to lock.
