We are back! Sorry about the shop being closed up for a week there, but it was an unfortunate necessity. We should be open for business the rest of the way to try and help you attain fantasy fame, glory, and riches.
Know who won’t be helping you do that this week? The guys whose names you find below. There’s a couple good ones, of course, but it is rough out there this week. Also, possibly complicating things is the trade deadline, which will no doubt see guys shuffling around both teams and dates. Nothing to do be done about it besides press on, do the best we can, and maybe lean more toward those single-start arms for a week instead.
What follows are our projections at time of writing as to who will be making two-starts this week, but weather, injuries, and secretive team management mean they are just that: projections. To stay as up-to-date as possible, consult Rudy Gamble’s invaluable Streamonator.
Chocolate Chip Cookies (Must Start)
They are kings of the cookie world for a reason. A warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookie just makes you feel happy. Sort of like getting to set your rosters knowing you get two starts this week from these guys.
Pitcher | First Start | Second Start |
---|---|---|
Jacob deGrom, Tex | @LAA | @SEA |
Christopher Sanchez, Phi | @CHW | DET |
Framber Valdez, Hou | WSH | @BOS |
Max Fried, NYY | TB | @MIA |
Sugar Cookies (Should Start)
They’re fine. You could certainly do worse than having these guys in your lineup, but don’t expect it to be remarkable.
Pitcher | First Start | Second Start |
---|---|---|
Matthew Boyd, ChC | @MIL | BAL |
Chris Bassitt, Tor | @BAL | KC |
Luis Castillo, Sea | @ATH | TEX |
- I told you it was an ugly week. But how about some props for Matthew Boyd, who has more than earned a spot this high in the rankings with his performances thus far. Long may they continue!
Oatmeal Raisin Cookies (Could Start)
These aren’t for everyone. These are the pitchers that may be a pleasant surprise, or they could ruin your week. Tread lightly.
Pitcher | First Start | Second Start |
---|---|---|
Dylan Cease, SD | NYM | STL |
Mitch Keller, Pit | @SF | @COL |
Jacob Misiorowski, Mil | ChC | @WSH |
Chase Burns, Cin | LAD | ATL |
Slade Cecconi, Cle | COL | MIN |
Patrick Corbin, Tex | @LAA | @SEA |
Joe Boyle, TB | @NYY | LAD |
- You’re going to start Cease. He’s so annoying. He’ll spend several starts not getting any wins while damaging your ERA and WHIP, but at any given moment, the switch can flip, and he’ll look like one of the 10 best pitchers in the game. You just don’t know if it’s going to happen in his next start or next season. It’ll probably happen the week you bench him.
- Keller is very much one of those who may find himself on a new team before he makes a second start this week.
- The Brewers’ and Reds’ rookies have the stuff to be great. It’s just unclear if and when they actually will be.
- It feels so wrong putting Corbin even this high. Yet, he’s looked shockingly decent for a decent stretch at this point, and the pickings are slim. It’s a very, very tepid rec.
Fortune Cookies (Do Not Start)
Yeah, they’re technically cookies. Hold on, what does that little slip of paper say? “Bad times are heading your way.” Oh. Okay, then.
Pitcher | First Start | Second Start |
---|---|---|
Casey Mize, Det | ARI | @PHI |
Eduardo Rodriguez, Ari | @DET | @ATH |
Zach Eflin, Bal | TOR | @CHC |
JP Sears, Ath | SEA | ARI |
Drew Rasmussen, TB | @NYY | LAD |
Frankie Montas, NYM | @SD | SF |
Logan Evans, Sea | @ATH | TEX |
Cam Schlittler, NYY | TB | @MIA |
Andre Pallante, StL | MIA | @SD |
Simeon Woods Richardson, Min | BOS | @CLE |
Brad Lord, Wsh | @HOU | MIL |
Richard Fitts, Bos | @MIN | HOU |
Davis Martin, ChW | PHI | @LAA |
Jack Kochanowicz, LAA | TEX | CHW |
Dane Dunning, Atl | @KC | @CIN |
Bradley Blalock, Col | @CLE | PIT |
- I’m sure there are guys in this group that are going to make me look stupid this week. The most likely suspects are Mize, Montas, and Rodriguez. Though just watch Davis Martin spin a gem to spite me, too. I don’t know if Kochanowicz or Dunning are even going to make one start, much less two. Basically, this whole tier is annoying and I don’t like it.
Strider?
Glad you’re back, thanks for another great article. Hopefully they let Misiorowski do his thing.
interesting offer. One manager was going to offer me Ketel Marte and I would give him Merrill Kelly and Seth Lugo. I was leaning to saying no. I have Breet Barry at 2B
Thoughts?
Another option is to offer him either Kelly or Lugo?
Would you offer Kelly or Lugo?
This manager has Ranger Suarez.
I could offer him both Kelly and Lugo and he would give me Ranger Suarez and Marte. I could throw in Baty and Ramon L or Abreau.
I can’t wait for your response.
Where would you put Edward Cabrera?
Great question. I do have Cabrera. He was not requested by other manager. I take this mean that he values Lugo and Kelly more than Cabrera.
1. Do you agree that you would value Lugo and Kelly more that Cabrera?
2.What do think about offering either Kelly or lugo to get Marte?
3, Who would you want to keep between Lugo and Kelly?
Thanks!!
Probably right behind Keller.
