Hello and welcome everyone, I first want to apologize for Thames not being in the lineup last week. Thames has sat against very good matchups twice now in the last few weeks. I don’t understand why but he has, I’ll try to get better moving forward and I hope Eric Thames plays Wednesday. Anyway, There’s quite a few guys I like today but one that stands out to me is Chris Young at $2,500. Against LHP he will not only be in the lineup (I hope…) but he’ll also be batting 4th in the lineup. I don’t know much about the pitcher for Minnesota, but I know Young will be in a power position and hits LHP much better then RHP over his career. His price of $2,500 makes him the best value play of the day for me.

Ivan Nova, SP: $8,100 – Since he was traded last summer to Pittsburgh, he’s changed his game around. He’s lowered his ERA quite a bit over the last season plus. Pitching in the National League helps, but I think the pitching coaches have done wonders for him. He’s pitching to more contact and the strike outs were there at a decent clip last season. His K/9 has been down this season but I think that may turn around today facing off against Tampa Bay in a National League park.
Marcus Stroman, SP: $8,400 – Stroman had a rough season last year, though he’s looked better this year (besides the inflated home run rate). I think he has the chance to be even better through the summer as long as Toronto begins to play better. Today he gets to face off against Baltimore. Besides Manny Machado and Adam Jones, there isn’t much to like about this team offensively. No one is even hitting in the lineup right now besides Trey Mancini and I don’t think he’s that good. Use Stroman or Nova with confidence today.
Gary Sanchez, C: $3,700 – I’ve been touting him at catcher for the better part of a month now. It’s finally beginning to pay off, he’s been one of the best if not the best hitting catcher in baseball for the last 2+ weeks. I don’t expect him to cool off just yet so try to get him in anyway you can.
J.T. Realmuto, C: $2,900 – If you don’t want to spend up at catcher I think Realmuto is a solid play. Obviously I think Sanchez is better but Realmuto isn’t bad as long as he’s playing.
Eric Thames, 1B: $3,100 – OK lets try this one more time…I know he hasn’t been the same Thames as he was in the first two months. I think it was unrealistic to believe he could continue that. His average should stabilize around .270 and he should be at 30-35 homers by the end of the year. Today he faces off against a young SP and I expect Thames to have a good game…IF HE PLAYS…
Matt Adams, 1B: $3,400 – Since being traded to Atlanta, Adams has been red hot and killing everything. I know Freddie Freeman should be back soon but until then, I’ll continue to ride big bad Adams.
Dee Gordon, 2B: $3,000 – I don’t care that he’s going up against a LHP, I like him a lot today. I think Gordon steals a couple bags today and gets on base three times. Steven Matz just isn’t very good and I personally think he’s pitching injured. Mets aren’t very good at throwing runners out either.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B: $2,800 – Pedroia hasn’t been that great all year, but he still hits towards the top of a good lineup. He also gets to face off against an LHP whom he’s faired better against in his latter years.
Josh Donaldson, 3B: $3,900 – Donaldson has had a rough year, he missed a bunch of time and hes only been average when hes playing. Toronto has also struggled in a big way all year long. Non of that matters today because Donaldson gets to face off against Wade Miley. Miley is awful and I expect Donaldson to dominate today. Just play him everywhere. (If he by some chance doesn’t play then go with Travis Shaw $3,600.)
Troy Tulowitzki, SS: $2,900 – Anyone else really miss old Tulo? I remember watching him tear it up in Coors as a teenager. What we have now is a shell of his old self and the numbers show it. I think today guys like me get to see a glimpse of the old Tulo we once knew. I say this because like I said, Miley is really bad and Tulo should crush a horrible LHP. If he doesn’t play for some reason, go with Aledmys Diaz at $2,700.
Mallex Smith, OF: $3,200 – I know I liked Nova today but even if you’re using him today, I don’t blame you for going with Smith. He’s getting on base and he’s scoring runs; this kid can’t do anything wrong right now. I say play him until he’s either over $3,600 or he cools off.
I think Young and Smith are must plays today basically everywhere, so that leaves 1 OF spot. Well the last outfield spot I’ll leave up to you. Anyone between $4,600 and $3,900 can be played in that spot. I personally am going to go with Bryce Harper at $4,600, Giancarlo Stanton at $4,100, Marcell Ozuna, or Mookie Betts at $3,900.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
Today’s weather is pretty scary today, there’s a few places that may have some real ugly cloud cover…Obviously I’m kidding the weather is beautiful today basically everywhere. Some mild wind here and there but nothing to really write about. Enjoy the day off from checking twitter every 5 minutes hoping the rain shifts.
Doing Lines In Vegas
Today we have Houston and Toronto as the big favorites today. I covered Stroman already, Houston I didn’t cover because I have never been a fan of David Paulino. You can use him if you want but I won’t be. The game totals are pretty similar to yesterday, a few 8 1/2s a lot of 9-9 1/2 and a few 10s. Two of the 10s I’ve mentioned already: Boston vs Minnesota and Toronto vs Baltimore. The other is Houston vs Oakland, I didn’t think about a stack from this game. Doesn’t seem like a bad idea, though, going off the starters and the total.
