Howdy, Razzfolks!

Dooooooozy of a week. Obviously, trades were banananananas, but we had plenty of injury news, too! Don’t you worry.

Infielders

Adalberto Mondesi: IL (oblique) – Still vague on how well Mondesi is actually progressing, but he was seen hitting a dinger in batting practice. He’s been doing fielding drills and taking hacks, but as far as actually ramping up into game shape? *shrug emoji*

Alex Bregman: IL (quad) – Bregs began his rehab back on Monday. If things go well, he could be activated by the time you’re reading this.

Anthony Rendon: IL (hammy) – Slow going for Rendon’s recovery. He’s not ready to ramp things up and will still need to rehab before rejoining the Halos.

Corey Seager: IL (hand) – *Randy Savage voice* oooohhhhhh yeahhhhhh!! Seager was activated yesterday. The Dodgers are ABSOLUTELY UNFAIR NOW. HOW WERE THEY ALLOWED TO ASSEMBLE THIS TEAM?!

D.J. LeMahieu: DTD (triceps) – DJLM wasn’t in the Friday lineup but this injury shouldn’t keep him out very long.

Gio Urshela: DTD (hammy) – A hamstring injury had Urshela on the sideline yesterday as well. Just some tightness, according to Aaron Boone.

Jared Walsh: IL (intercostal) – Walsh left Monday’s game and ended up on the IL with an intercostal strain. We don’t yet know how bad it is.

Luke Voit: IL (knee) – Voit ran the bases before Tuesday’s game. Progress! Probably will return this week.

Mike Moustakas: IL (heel) – Whew, finally. Some concrete news. Moose will play in Triple-A Louisville this coming week.

Rafael Devers: DTD (quad) – Devers left Wednesday’s game with some quad tightness and remained sidelined yesterday. It sounds like it actually is just a DTD thing, though. Could be back in today’s lineup.

Rhys Hoskins: DTD (groin) – Hoskins left Thursday’s second game limping out a grounder in the 5th. Some kind of groin injury. Didn’t play yesterday, either, so stay tuned for any updates.

Trea Turner: IL (COVID) – The newest Dodger fell victim to COVID-19 while still with the Nationals. Turner got pulled mid-game earlier in the week and everyone assumed trade. Then everyone assumed injury. Then we learned he tested positive. Then we learned he actually did get traded. Then everyone who wasn’t a Dodgers fan quit baseball altogether and vowed to care about sports only every Olympics and every World Cup. No, just me? That’s fine.

Outfielders

Christian Yelich: IL (COVID) – Ughhhh Yelich hits the IL again, this time for testing positive for COVID-19 despite being fully vaxxed. Jace Peterson joined him on the COVID-IL for being a close contact.

Eloy Jimenez: DTD (groin) – I almost wanna LOL. Eloy is injured again, apparently nursing some kind of groin injury. We don’t know the severity yet, so stay tuned. La Russa did indicate he’s improving, but that’s vague as hell.

LaMonte Wade: DTD (leg) – A leg injury kept Wade out of the lineup yesterday. Crazy I’m even talking about this dude cuz I legit hadn’t heard of him until, like, a month or two ago. A .918 OPS with a little speed will do that! Giants fans were freaking out on Twitter that he was involved in the Kris Bryant trade, but good news, Giants fans! Just an injury!

Mike Trout: IL (calf) – Apparently Trout is *air quotes* feeling something *end air quotes* in his calf and will get re-examined. I am never, ever optimistic when something like this pops up, even after hearing there’s been no new injury or setback. Even after hearing his latest MRI was encouraging. Whatever’s going on, it’s causing a very, very slow healing process. I thought Trout wasn’t even human to begin with. What gives? He’s got the skills of a machine and the personality to match it.

Mookie Betts: IL (hip) – Of course this DTD injury wound up being an IL one. Betts went on the Infuriating List back on Sunday with a lingering hip injury. Put me in camp I’ll Believe It When I See It, but he’s expected to be activated tomorrow.

Starters

Alek Manoah: IL (back) – Manoah should make his return to the mound today. Woot woot.

Carlos Carrasco: IL (hammy) – He’s finally here! Cookie returned yesterday to make his long-awaited Mets debut! He went 4 innings, allowing 3 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, and had 4 K. TIGHT!!!

Corey Kluber: IL (shoulder) – Klubot will face live hitters soon and is progressing well by all accounts. If you need SP, maybe take a stab.

Chris Sale: IL (TJS recovery) – Sale is looking fantastic in rehab. He’s very close to being ready to join Boston. More like Chris Hale Yeah Brother!!!! amirite?

Clayton Kershaw: IL (forearm) – Threw a pen session last Saturday and a sim game Tuesday. Tomorrow, he will either throw a sim game or do a rehab start, apparently. Either way, it’s looking very likely he’ll rejoin the Dodgers this coming week.

Ian Anderson: IL (shoulder) – Anderson is slowly but surely progressing and could throw off a mound in the next few days.

Jack Flaherty: IL (oblique) – Rehab start Tuesday for Triple-A Memphis went well but he only tossed a couple (scoreless!) innings. He’ll need a couple more rehab starts at least. Mid-August is looking like a good bet to see him back.

Jacob deGrom: IL (forearm) – And here it is, one of the biggest oofs of the year. DeGrom had a setback and has been completely shut down for two more weeks. After that, if he’s able, he’ll need to resume a throwing program and will need to be built back up. Very unlikely we see him until September. Huge blow for fantasy owners and general baseball fans alike.

Noah Syndergaard: IL (TJS recovery) – On the other hand, and make of this what you will, but Thor threw off a mound this week. There’s a tentative September 1 return target, but I’m not sure his innings will amount to much for the rest of the fantasy season. Maybe he goes out there and strikes out 10 in 3 innings or something, though…

Stephen Strasburg: IL (neck) –  Complete wash of a season szn. Stras will have neurogenic thoracic outlet surgery, which will end his season. He’s a safe drop if you haven’t already, and he’s definitely not worth keeping at this point. Buy low in dynasty? Hell, sell low in dynasty? Your call.

Trevor Rogers: IL (back) – Back spasms have landed Rogers on the IL. His innings were getting limited in the second half anyway, but now an extra layer of lameness has been mixed in. A pen session will determine the next steps.

Zach Eflin: IL (knee) – Bummer. Eflin threw a pen session and didn’t feel great after, so he’s gonna remain sidelined.

Relievers

Collin McHugh: IL (arm) – Rays tossed McHugh on the IL with arm fatigue. Hope that’s all it is…just a move to get another guy on the roster so he can rest up. He’s been a secret weapon for me but the injury bug is ravaging me and I had to drop the poor guy.

Daniel Hudson: IL (COVID) – Brad Hand got traded just in time for Daniel Hudson to hit the COVID-IL and miss out on some closing duties. Then Hudson himself went and got traded to the Padres. He’ll probably see setup duties if you need holds (but if you’re in a league with holds then he’s probably owned anyway).

Nick Anderson: IL (elbow) -. Making very good progress and isn’t far from getting back in there, and boy-oh-boy do those Rays need him. That pen is decimated right now. Anderson owned rookie-level ball this week in rehab, getting bumped up to Triple-A Durham on Thursday. Diego Castillo got traded to Seattle, but that closer gig was always his when he was coming back anyway. As much as a closer gig is anyone’s in Kevin Cash’s bullpen.

Peter Fairbanks: IL (shoulder) – Another IL stint for Crazy Eyes, meaning he joins Anderson, Ryan Thompson, Collin McHugh, and J.P. Feyereisen. Oof. But like I just said, at least Anderson isn’t far away.

Taylor Rogers: IL (finger) – A finger sprain has Rogers sidelined. Hansel Robles got traded, so Rogers will likely be the main closer when healthy. Having a solid season all things considered.
