Miami Marlins catcher slash batter slash baseball thrower slash heartthrob Agustin Ramirez collected two hits with a double and his first major league home run Friday night, a two run tank in the eighth inning that put the Fish up big. Have a day, rook! You may remember Agustin as a one time big shot highly touted NYC City prospect and the primary return in the Jazz Chisholm trade. Well, now the Agustin dog days have arrived and he’s real and he’s been spectacular. Sure it’s only been three games but we can have some fun with these numbers! Ag-Ram is batting .700 through his first 10 at bats, with four doubles and a home run. That’s right, that’s five extra base hits in his first 10 plate appearances, he’s the first player in ever to do that. In ever! What’s all this mean for the 23-year old phenom? Is he the greatest hitter alive? Is his .700/.750/1.400 slash sustainable? I don’t know! Probably? How about that 2.150 OPS? 461 wRC+? Did I mention he has a steal? Because he does! And three RBI. Grey told you to BUY and comp’d him to “prime Realmuto. Call him Reallymuto.” Ramirez hit .248/.340/.430 with 12 home runs and 14 steals in AAA. So the JT power/speed comparisons are legit, and none of this is coming out of nowhere. He could be a real Realmuto. If you need a catcher he’s absolutely worth the add based solely on the fact that he could be the greatest hitter in history. And even if he’s not St. Agustin is Miami’s new patron saint of Fish and extra base hits. Bless him! This kid’s gonna be a star! Ha-cha-cha!

Here’s what else I saw in fantasy baseball Friday night:

Jesus Sanchez – 1-for-4, HR (1), 2 RBI. Jesus has risen! And only a week late.

Logan Gilbert – 3.0 IP, 3 K. Left with forearm tightness and will receive an MRI. Weapon X has famously or infamously (I don’t know the difference) never required an IL trip so we’ll see if–oop ugh, I probably just jinxed him, didn’t I? Darn. My bad!

Dylan Moore – 1-for-4, HR (6). Jorge Polance also homered (5). Dylan was a BUY! He’s got four homers and three steals over the past two weeks and plays basically everywhere. The steals are why I added him but the homers are why I haven’t dropped him yet. Gimme moore, it’s Britney pitch!

Colin Rea– 5.0 IP, 3 hits, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K, 1st win, ERA at 0.96 ERA. For a team that’s so desperate for starting pitching, it’s shocking that the Brewers let Rea walk. I don’t love him but I love his 19/3 K/BB, and he does get the Pirates next week who barely have two major league hitters.

Pete Crow-Armstrong – 1-for-3, run, RBI, 2 SB (12). PCA playing for a contract is the only PCA for me! If there’s one player I wish I owned everywhere but have nowhere it’s Pete. A piece of me hopes he cools down a bit so I have a chance to trade for him. I also loved his mom in Little Big League, which, and this may be a spicy take, is a superior movie to Rookie of the Year in every way.

Kodai Senga – 6.0 IP, 6 hits, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K. Surrendered a run scoring triple to CJ Abrams in the third inning then went on to retire the next 11 batters straight. His fastball touched 98 mph, and the ghost fork was dancing as spookily as ever. The 2025 Senga Genesis has been a success so far, his 1.26 ERA is real nice and so far my strategy of drafting only Japanese pitchers this year has been surprisingly sound.

Jake Irvin – 7.1 IP, 5 hits, ER, BB, 4 K. That’s now three straight quality starts for Irvin who’s allowed just three runs and 11 hits (ELEVEN) in that stretch. Especially impressive if you consider one of those starts was at Coors, but less impressive because it was the Rockies. He’s headed for a road matchup with Philadelphia next and if he survives that one unscathed I’m buying.

James Wood – 2-for-5, RBI. The first career walk off for J-Dubs and I got Wood just watching that. I’d say this kid’s gonna be a star, ha chax2, but he already is!

CJ Abrams – 2-for-5, run, 2 RBI, SB (5). If you weren’t watching James Wood’s walk off close enough it was Abrams speed from first that won it. Wood should take him out for a night on the town for–err, on second thought, maybe just an edible arrangement for CJ this time.

Jose Berrios – 5.1 IP, 5 hits, 0 ER, 2 BB, 4 K. This was one of those starts at Yankee stadium that seemed so scary you just knew Berrios was going to be fine.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. – 1-for-3, HR (2). Cake Batter bomb! Not the most convincing shot but at this point I’ll take it. That’s Vladdy’s 15th homer at Yankee stadium, his most at any opposing ballpark. Maybe he should just be on the Yankees and we wouldn’t be in this two homer mess we’re in.

Devin Williams – 0.0 IP, 2 hits, 3 ER, L. That’s now back to back disastrous outing for Devin and the 11.38 ERA makes me sad. I’m not sure I’d drop Williams just yet, but I’m definitely adding Luke Weaver everywhere I can.

Pablo Lopez – 5.0 IP, 5 hits, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 2nd win. Pab-Lo was not the most efficient in this one but with a 20/4 K/BB I don’t really care. I like him, but if you can sell high after this start I probably would.

Byron Buxton – 2-for-3, HR (6), 3 RBI, slashing .239/.273/.522. Lord Byron’s got three homers and a steal batting .348 in the past week! 2015 called, they want their highly touted elite can’t miss prospect back. It’s a good thing I’ve been drafting him every year for the past decade, I knew it would pay off eventually! Now back in your injury-proof bacta-tank, we can’t have you straining your back on the way to the clubhouse.

Luke Keaschall – Fractured his hand getting hit by a pitch and should be out several weeks. He actually stayed in the game to run the bases which is pretty badass, but my Keaschall obsession will have to be put on hold for now.

Trevor Larnach – 2-for-4, HR (4), 4 RBI. He was a BUY and after going three weeks without a home run he’s now got three in the past week. See how I flipped that?

Logan O’Hoppe – 1-for-4, HR (7). The Angels always have a chance as long as they have O’Hoppe!

Seth Lugo – 8.0 IP, 3 hits, 0 ER, BB, 8 K, 2nd win. Lucky Lugo worked his way through this one giving up plenty of hard contact to the Stros but sometimes the beisbols fall exactly where you want them to as he surrendered just three hits.

Rhys Hoskins – 2-for-4, BB. BUY. Five game hitting streak, with three multi-hit performances in that stretch. We know he can hit for power, but it’s games like this that give me Rhys-ons to add him.

Brendan Donovan – 2-for-3, run, RBI. Kevin from ESPN’s “Get Him In Your Line Up” department took mental health day he was so upset about Shedeur Sanders fall, but Bren-Don didn’t miss a beat.

Matthew Liberatore – 6.0 IP, 5 hits, ER, 4 K, 2nd win. Matty Libs is a quality start machine! And that 0.97 WHIP is prettier than an NBA sideline reporter. I don’t love his next start in Cincinnati, but he should probably be owned.

Jordan Beck – 2-for-3, 2 HR (5), SB (4). BUY. El es un perdido! The slam & legs in Denver is served with a rocky mountain oyster, which is just as gnarly as it sounds. Speaking of gnarly, JB is Where It’s At (that’s a Beck song if you’re cool enough to get that reference) and he’s now got five homers and six hits in three games. That’s Agustin Ramirez-esque! He could just be shmotato’ing, but shmotato’ing at Coors is def worth a look especially if he continues to lead off. Maybe he’s not such a perdido?

Noelvi Marte – 3-for-5, run, 2 RBI. Another BUY! Sure it was at Coors, but for the Noelvi-Truthers, this was a big step towards making a case that Marte is more than just his 5-for-7, 7 RBI performance last Sunday. A game like this proves Noelvi can hit baseballs off more than just position players pitching, which is important if you’re going to last in the Bigs. He’s 6-for-15 with a home run and a steal since Sunday’s explosion and that’ll play most everywhere. I’m watching him closer than the Last of Us season 2 premiere, which is to say, I don’t care that Bella Ramsey looks nothing like the video game character, I didn’t even know it was a video game. Come at me, n3rds!

Emilio Pagan – 1.0 IP, 2 K, SV (6). I’m starting to think Alexis Diaz is not getting this job back. The DOGE cuts have been harder on some than others.

Spencer Steer – 1-for-4, HR (2), 2 RBI. Holy cow! He udderly destroyed that beisbol.

Zac Gallen – 5.0 IP, 4 hits, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 4th L. Gallen still hasn’t looked right, but he is a good enough pitcher that he can work through his ish. That said, the start next week in Queens I might avoid. Mets are kinda, sorta, a wagon, ya’ll!

Chris Sale – 5.0 IP, 5 hits, ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 1st win. Remember when he won the Cy Young last year? Me neither. A lot of what I said about Gallen applies to Sale, except Sale will get injured before he can fix everything.

Shane Baz – 7.0 IP, 4 hits, 0 ER, BB, 6 K, 3rd win, ERA at 2.45. He’s a Bazzzzzz, man! Shut yo mouth. This is the part of the blog where I pat myself on the back for drafting Shane everywhere. I did that! Way to go me! Let me enjoy this before he heads back to his little league home ballpark next week and crushes my dreams.

Michael King – 5.0 IP, 4 hits, 0 ER, BB, 9 K, L. The line doesn’t do him justice, MK was absolute filth in this game. Dirtier than my Bobby Witt fan-fiction. Regardless, this dude is an Ace, and I’d be so lucky to have him anchor my staff. If King was the first pitcher you drafted, you’re doing fantasy baseballing right. Good job!

Luis Severino – 6.0 IP, 6 hits, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K. After a tough start to April, he’s got back-to-back quality starts, which is a pleasant surprise. I love the homeless A’s this year, but with Bing Bong’s baby ballpark Severino is still in streaming territory for me.

Mason Miller – 1.0 IP, 2 hits, 2 ER, K, SV (6). The regression fairies believe the tariffs aren’t “that bad,” they think Blake Lively’s edits to Justin Baldoni’s script made the film better and they will destroy your ratios.

Tyler Soderstrom  – 3-for-4, SB (1), .310/.369/.620. And he steals bases! *star eyes, swoons* My hewwo! *bats eyelashes* Remember when I said PCA is the top player I wished I owned everywhere? Scroll up a bit if you don’t. Well, Tyler is my second choice, except I do own him in one league and I’m in first in that league, naturally. *smiles smugly*

Jacob Wilson – 3-for-4, HR (3). That was a lot of italicized reactions for one blurb wasn’t it? Sorry about that, here’s Jacob Wilson’s home run. It’s insane to me a player slashing .347/.354/.500 hasn’t walked all season. Heck, he hasn’t even seen a 3-ball count! Time will tell if this “swing-at-everything” approach comes back to haunt him, but it works for me in MLB The Show!

Wyatt Langford – 3-for-4, RBI. Since returning from the IL he’s 11-for-19, with two home runs and two steals. I think I’m starting to catch feelings? Is this love? It’s not just in my pants this time. I feel it in my chest and my head, too! This was Langy’s third three hit game in five games, and we are witnessing the emergence of a top 10 fantasy player, chat. I should be live streaming this moment on TikTok so we can revisit this when he’s the third pick next year. Like and subscribe. Thanks for the rose!

Nathan Eovaldi – 6.0 IP, 3 hits, 0 ER, BB, 7 K, 2nd win, ERA at 2.21. He’s got a 38/3 K/BB! If that’s not sweet sassy molassy worthy I don’t know what is. Sweet sassy molassy! Just remember he went about 15 rounds after Corbin Burnes and Max Fried.

Luke Jackson – 0.2 IP, K, SV (8). After blowing the save yesterday, he’s back in there not 24 hours later notching his eighth save of the season. That’s a goldfish memory, Ted Lasso!

Justin Verlander – 6.0 IP, 5 hits, 2 ER, BB, 5 K, 2nd L. His ERA is close to five but he’s been better than the stats say. But the stats are everything you say!? Yeah, okay, maybe you’re right. Especially in fantasy beisbol. I’m just saying he looked pretty good out there, and I wish the best for him and Kate. Mostly Kate. He gets the Colorado Suckies next week and I could see considering the prospect of maybe thinking about mulling over the possibility of contemplating whether or not I should review the option of potentially picking him up. I still don’t know for sure though!

David Bednar – 1.0 IP, BB, 2 K, SV (2). The heart attack closer is back! Shit-the-Bednar or die trying. It’s a good thing I stocked up on ACE inhibitors while he was down in the minors.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto – 5.0 IP, 5 hits, ER, 4 BB, 5 K. Not his best Friday night considering he walked four Pirates (how even?), but that ERA is still a shiny 1.06. Mhmm. I guess Livvy Dunne rooting against you can do that to a guy.

Oneil Cruz – 1-for-4, 2 runs, SB (12). He’s on pace for 70 steals, and 40 homers. Yessir! The Cruz Missile also hit a 118 mph single last night. You better believe I’m gonna make you watch it!

Paul Skenes – 6.1 IP, 5 hits, 0 ER, 9 K, 3rd win. The Skenes versus Yamamoto matchup did not disappoint. Seems rare these days to have a match up of Aces like this, but IMO this is honestly baseball at its absolute best. Oh no, I’m getting all emotional thinking about Livvy and Paul and, well, just the three of us living our lives together. It’s crazy to consider how far we’ve all come. And it’s really hard to find the words for how dominant Skenes looked at Dodger stadium Friday night, but here’s a taste. Yes, please. He’s had a slow start to 2025 but then you watch him dismantle the best line up, possibly ever, and strike out Shohei Ohtani like this and then again like this and you realize he’s every bit as good as we think and hope he is. And oh boy, is he going to look good in the Dodger uniform in five years!

Thanks for reading! Questions? Problems? Complaints to management? Advice, small gifts, or large bribes? Please leave it in the comments below. Join us next Saturday for another Friday recap as fantasy baseball continues next week, all week long!

Little Big League is better than Rookie of the Year. Making Griffey the villain was so appropriate and gutsy.

Someone dropped Lourdes Gurriel to the waivers, would you add him over any of these players:

Larnach
Jesus Sanchez
Heliot Ramos

If so, i have 885$ out of 1000$ salary remaining, how much should I spend?

Thanks as always for the advice, been a huge help for my team so far this year!

11 scoring categories for hitters, 11 for pitchers:
At Bats (AB)
Hits (H)
Runs Scored (R)
Home Runs (HR)
Runs Batted In (RBI)
Walks (BB)
Stolen Bases (SB)
Batting Average (AVG)
On Base Pct (OBP)

Innings Pitched (IP)
Earned Runs (ER) †
Strikeouts (K)
Quality Starts (QS)
Wins (W)
Losses (L) †
Saves (SV)
Holds (HD)
Earned Run Average (ERA) †
Walks plus Hits Per Innings Pitched (WHIP) †
Strikeouts per 9 Innings (K/9) †

12 mandatory keepers each year as first 12 rounds of the draft. Cannot keep more than 9 position players, so have to keep at least 3 pitchers.

Active Roster:
Agustin
Freeman
Keaschall – IL
Bregman
CJ Abrams
LF – LoGuJu
CF – Victor Scott
RF – Trout
UTIL – Ozuna

BN – Santander, J. Pena
IL – Arraez, Robles

2 P spots – R. Walker, Bautista
2 RP spots – Pressly, J. Martinez
5 SP – Casparius as a placeholder for innings and holds just stays in SP spot, then play my eligible starters:
BN – Senga, B. Francis, Schwellenbach, Shane Smith, Hicks, L. Henderson, Bubba Chandler
Currently trying to stream 1 SP spot…Gillespie today, already dropped for Randy Vasquez tomorrow.
IL – Efflin, Manaea, Kershaw

Questions….
1) Is Robles worth holding onto in this league, or let him to go moved Keaschall to IL?
2) Rather keep trying to stream or add a SP eligible reliever to join Casparius…Koening, Ashcraft, Varland, Yariel Rodrigruez, Junis the top options.
3) Lose Pena (was a FA pick up) to get another streamer or SP as reliver?
4) Pick up Vest over anyone as a fill in RP on off days?

Thanks!

Hi, what is wrong with Megill of MIL?

I drafted him in a saves only league but he’s done very little. MIL doesn’t look like they’re going to win much. He just gave up a walk off while Vest seems to be taking charge of the closer role in DET. Would u swap them before someone else jumps on Vest?

Not gonna lie I dropped him just before he made that appearance thankfully because I needed to stream. Unfortunately my stream was Ben Brown! Ouch!

Since I am on a roll with Gunnar posts this week, I will do one this weekend too. Another 100 mph grounder to start off the day. He managed to make 2 outs with this one. That gb rate is soaring. It was 57% today. Could he hit 60% by the end of the day with the double-header? I wonder if we can bet on that…

Essentially if your team is built around O’s ( Gunnar, Westburg, Holiday, Ruthsman) you were probably paying more attention to the NFL draft than you were baseball.

Happy Saturday!

16 team league with 11 scoring categories:
At Bats (AB)
Hits (H)
Runs Scored (R)
Home Runs (HR)
Runs Batted In (RBI)
Walks (BB)
Stolen Bases (SB)
Batting Average (AVG)

Slugging Pct (SLG)
Fielding Pct (FPCT)

We have LF, CF, RF instead of OF spots.

Currently stuck with Lourdes Gurriel Jr. as my only LF.

Drop him for Beck, Larnach, Kepler, Winker?

We have 12 mandatory keepers each year, if it matters, but LoGuJu wouldn’t be one of them….

FA pool is pretty light with the number of teams and roster size….

Also, in a 10 team yahoo roto league, 5×5, drop Murphy for Goodman or Agustin or hold? Saves only, could you rank Kahnle, Pressly, Slaten, Weaver, Vest, Hodge

thanks!
