The pitching for FanDuel purposes is pretty thin today. So it is likely that we will find the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw as the chalk. And for good reason too. The lefty has a slate best 3.36 SIERA and a 3.11 xFIP. Kershaw is also striking out 26.1% of the batters he is facing. Combine that with the Phillies being a middle of the road team against lefties (.259 batting average and a .181 ISO) and Kershaw is the safe play on Monday.

Miles Mikolas, SP: $6,400 – While Mikolas does not have the strikeout upside of Kershaw, this is not a terrible spot for the Cardinals’ starter. The Pirates’ offense has a .257 batting average and a 24.1% strikeout rate in their last seven contests. And maybe even more importantly, Mikolas is cheap and allows you some flexibility with your bats.
Joc Pederson, C/1B: $2,600 – At his price tag, expect Joc to be popular on Monday. But he might be chalk worth swallowing. The Phillies’ Zach Eflin is allowing a .357 wOBA to left-handed bats this season. While Pederson has a .310 ISO and a .374 wOBA versus right-handed pitching in 2019.
Freddie Freeman, C/1B: $4,100 – Freeman has a .277 ISO and a .410 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. While Adrian Houser has been solid this season, he has struggled with lefties. He is allowing a .404 wOBA to them in 2019.
Max Muncy, 2B: $3,800 – Muncy has a .276 ISO and a .373 wOBA against right-handed pitching. That trend should continue tonight as the Phillies’ Eflin is allowing a 2.28 HR/9 to lefties this season.
Jose Altuve, 2B: $3,800 – While Griffin Canning’s numbers have been pretty good this season, there is a reason to believe that some regression sets in tonight. Canning is allowing a 43% hard contact rate and a 48.9% flyball rate to righties this season. Altuve should help get the regression rolling.
Rafael Devers, 3B: $4,100 – By most measures, the Blue Jays’ Trent Thornton has been bad this year. And his struggles have been even worse against left-handed batters. He is allowing a .346 wOBA and owns a 4.49 xFIP against lefty bats. Devers should capitalize on this opportunity as he has a .999 OPS against right-handed pitching.
Nolan Arenado, 3B: $4,700 – Arenado in Colorado is always in play. He has a 1.065 OPS in Coors this season.
Francisco Lindor, SS: $4,000 – The Tigers’ Daniel Norris is allowing a .298/.335/.472 slash line to righties this season. Lindor should pile on in this one.
Trevor Story, SS: $4,600 – At home this season, Story has a .319 ISO and a .414 wOBA.
Cody Bellinger, OF: $4,800 – Bellinger is in a smash spot on Monday. The Phillies’ Eflin owns a 5.31 xFIP and is allowing a 45.6% hard contact rate to lefties this season, while Bellinger is crushing righties with a .366 ISO.
Mookie Betts, OF: $4,200 – Betts has a .228 ISO and a .390 wOBA versus right-handed pitching in 2019.
Charlie Blackmon, OF: $4,800 – Blackmon loves playing Colorado. He has a .473 ISO and a .565 wOBA there this season.
I’m Only Happy When It Rains
The wind is going to be blowing straight out at Wrigley so be sure to check closer to lock to see how hard and what impact that may have on that game total. Also, there will be rain near the St. Louis area so before you lock in Mikolas be sure the area is clear.
Doing Lines In Vegas
There are four games with over/under totals at 10 or higher so expect a lot of runs tonight and high FanDuel scores.
