A HUGE slate on this beautiful Tuesday evening. This is classic GPP territory tonight as ownership across the board shouldn’t be too much of a factor. On a 13 game slate with near-perfect weather, we are in for an interesting night of baseball. The top arms include Max Scherzer ($12,000), Lucas Giolito ($10,600), Walker Buehler ($9,800), and Christian Javier ($9,400). I wouldn’t blame anyone for going the Scherzer route, as he looks fantastic of late and is a good bet to go deep. However, I’m seeing offense spike a bit in TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida, where the Blue Jays are calling home this summer. At that price, I rather go down to the next few guys and fit those bats that should be alive and well tonight.

NOTE: If you’re building multiple lineups (7-12)  and are using 4 or 5 different main stacks, be sure to get those stacks in with the different pitchers you’re using. If you’re going with 3 different arms, be sure to get those bats you like in with each arm the best you can. This sounds like a no-brainer but when you’re building all those lineups, it’s easy to make edits and then inadvertently have four line-ups of the same stack and same pitcher. Use each entry to your full advantage. Search out the single or 3 entry max contests. Don’t always feel like you have to try and win $30,000 every night. Learn how to cash in the smaller contests, build that bankroll and then start taking shots for the big money. Most importantly, have fun! If losing $20 or $30 bucks on a given night is going to ruin your day, you are doing it wrong.

Starting Pitchers to Target

Lucas Giolito, SP: ($10,600) – Giolito is the best matchup on the slate. The White Sox are the biggest favorite on the slate at -250 vs Detroit.  I’m completely tossing out the April 19 start at Boston. Giolito is on plenty of rest and has had the chance to reset himself prior to this matchup vs the Tigers. If you’re spending up at SP tonight, Giolito is the spot.

Christian Javier, SP: ($9,400) – Javier’s first 6 outs last time out came via the K. Seattle isn’t the biggest K team in the land vs RHP but they do strike out more than the Angels who Javier was able to mow down his last time out. The Astros are hitting the ball well and should have the run support vs LHP Gonzales tonight to get Javier the W to go along with 8-10 Ks.

First Base

Max Muncy, C/1B: ($3,300) – Sometimes I do not understand the pricing on FanDuel. Maybe they are assuming he’s just going to go 0-0 with 5 walks. I’ll take this price and gladly build a Dodgers stack that includes Muncy in what should be the game where Jeff Hoffman sees his ERA go up. Love this spot tonight.

Yermin Mercedes, C/1B: ($3,100) – Who knows when this fun is going to stop? This dude is out of his mind. He’s 22 for 55 vs RHP and Jose Urena doesn’t seem like the guy to cool him off. I love a White Sox stack today and with all the options at first base on the slate, Yermin has a great value with a better matchup. If the Sox go nuts, expect to see Mercedes right there in the thick of it.

Eric Hosmer, C/1B: ($3,000) – Solid matchup vs Merrill Kelly who’s giving up tons of hard contact. I like the Padres a lot tonight as they should get on base plenty and the top of the order should be in line for plenty of run-producing opportunities. Hosmer’s price is way down and should be a great value today in Arizona.

Second Base

Jazz Chisholm Jr., 2B: ($3,100) – Chisholm has been a delight, especially for those in seasonal leagues who jumped on him a few weeks back. He hits the ball hard, steals when he can, and has a nice spot atop the Marlins offense that isn’t half bad of late. Houser keeps the ball on the ground pretty well but Jazz has the bat and speed to make things happen in a big way without leaving the ballpark. Though I’m not playing him if I didn’t think there was a good chance of that happening.

DJ Lemahieu, 2B: ($3,000) & Gleyber Torres, 2B ($2,500) – This lineup has to turn things around at some point. What better time than vs an average lefty like Zimmermann? This will probably be the chalk, so be ready for that, both guys are not going to stay this quiet for long. Their prices are just too low not to get some of them in your lineups. As bad as Torres has been, he has a history of busting out in Baltimore and the weather seems primed for him to do that today.

Gavin Lux, 2B: (2,000) – I don’t care how much he struggled prior to hitting the DL. Lux is a talented ballplayer and I believe today is the day Jeff Hoffman comes back down to Earth. Anyone in this lineup is with a target most days, but at a minimum price, Lux opens up options at any other position for you to build however you please. He should be a great ROI as hitting 7th in a loaded Dodgers lineup.

Third Base

Yoan Moncada, 3B: ($3,400) – He’s starting to heat up. Another youngster who’s off to a slow start. He will figure things out and he looks like he’s starting to be more aggressive which we love to see. I’m going to be doing some pivoting to the White Sox away from the Yankees chalk, and Moncada is a prime target.

Manny Machado, 3B: ($3,300) – Another spot to go for some under-priced high upside plays. Machado is one of those dudes who could double bop on any given day. I think the Padres are feeling great after taking 3 of 4 from the Dodgers in LA, and they get a great matchup tonight. It looks like the Padres might have higher ownership, but they also have a great chance of putting up the highest run total.

Short Stop

Tim Anderson, SS: ($4,000) – From what I’m gathering, Tatis is the chalk on this huge slate. I’m obviously going to get some Tatis shares, but if Anderson is low-owned, the White Sox have as good a chance as any to go bonkers tonight. He’s got the pop, he’s got the speed, and he’s got the matchup. Love me some Timmy tonight.

Corey Seager, SS: ($3,600) – Again, tonight is the night Hoffman comes back down to Earth. Seager should be priced up with Anderson and Tatis, but I’ll gladly take the discount on one of the best hitters in the game. There are so many options tonight, and with Tatis being the chalkiest, I’ll gladly pivot to Anderson or Seager.

Outfield

Mookie Betts, OF: ($4,000) – He hasn’t done all that much since the week absence earlier in the month. I love the Dodgers today and the other high-priced guys in this tier should take some ownership away from Mookie. We know he’s a top 5 talent in the game, and just like Machado, Betts hasn’t hit his stride yet at the plate. Look for him to get it rolling tonight vs Hoffman.

Trent Grisham, OF: ($3,700) – This guy came back from injury and quickly quieted all the naysayers. He’s a very solid hitter who can do it all. The Padres will score tonight, though it looks like their ownership is a little high. The way I see it, there are so many ways to differentiate on a huge slate like this, don’t feel timid to stack the Padres and go different in other spots.

Luis Robert, OF: ($3,000) – This matchup and price screams “PLAY ME!”. A better lineup spot would be nice but he should still get 4 ABs regardless of where he’s hitting. Robert is uber-talented and can do it all. I’m sensing a few hard-hit balls tonight, and with the wind blowing hard on a warm night in Guaranteed Rate, good things can happen.

Trey Mancini, OF: ($3,200) & Cedric Mullins, OF: ($2,900) – If the Yankees are going to be the bats to own in this matchup, I’m going to get some ownership of the other side. Baltimore is in a solid spot vs Kluber who is just not the same guy he was. There are going to be plenty of runs scored in this game, why not take a chance on two guys atop the lineup of the underdog?

Alex Dickerson, OF: ($2,900) – This looks like a really solid matchup on paper. Dickerson has been able to hit home runs in bunches and Chi Chi struggles to get lefties out. I like the Giants as a late-night hammer stack and Dickerson right in the middle of the fun.

I’m Only Happy When It Rains

And the streak continues. It’s B-E-A-Utiful all across the land tonight. Don’t fret, play with confidence. The wind blowing out at 11-13 mph in St. Louis and Chicago tonight could be a factor for the Phillies @ Cards and Tigers @ White Sox games.

Doing Lines In Vegas

I’m taking the over in the Padres @ Dbacks game. Right now it’s at 9. I think the Dbacks can score a few off Paddack and I believe the Padres are going to put some crooked numbers on the board tonight.

Favorite Stacks – White Sox, Dodgers, Padres, Giants

Fades – I’m not going to nit-pick on this huge slate. Plus, the last two times I gave fades, one of the fades ended up scoring 14 runs. So, I guess in that case, fade the Yankees (wink wink).
