Even, and this is 100% true, Alex Verdugo rostered Jasson Dominguez (1-for-4, 1 run, 1 steal) in his fantasy league. Even Verdugo’s mom was like, “Boy, I love you, but I have a H2H league I’m trying to win.” It seemed like up until yesterday, Jasson Dominguez was rostered everywhere by everyone except by the Yankees and Aaron Boone. Serious question: Did Aaron Boone place a bet to win the Wild Card and not the AL East? Another legit question: Why don’t the Yankees ever fire anyone? Is this make-up for George Steinbrenner’s trigger-finger ways? Boone and Cashman have more job security than a tenured professor. So, the Yanks finally called him up, and I’ve given you my Jasson Dominguez fantasy already — ACKSUALLY, I’ve given you multiple. I am not a Yankee homer, but when I see Dominguez I start tawking like dis here. Okay, I tawk like that anyway, but you understand. He could be a top 20 outfielder the rest of the way, and the same for next year, if you’re tawkin’ keepers here. Grab him everywhere. Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:
DJ LeMahieu – Hit the IL with “Jasson Dominguez was called up so do we even care what injury the Yanks made-up?”
Alex Verdugo – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs as he hit 9th. Nooooooooooooooo! Don’t make Boone have to think!
Austin Wells – 2-for-5, 4 RBIs and his 13th homer. He was hitting .105 with zero homers in September, so, Wells, uh, maybe he’s catching fire again, but he’s been poor for a spell — p-o-o-r.
Carlos Rodon – 6 IP, 3 ER, 7 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 4.21. Watched some of this game, because I was too stressed watching Morton/Martinez. Rodon looked unhittable vs. lefties, but looking at his stats, and it’s more good than great.
Salvador Perez – 4-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 26th homer. Prolly won’t catch, er, Contreras on the Player Rater for top catcher, but Sal’s a solid number two.
Hunter Renfroe – 1-for-4 and his 13th homer. Or as Scooby Doo would say, “Renfroe!”
Brady Singer – 5 IP, 3 ER, 8 baserunners, 3 Ks, ERA at 3.42. You want more from Singer, naturally — acapella? — but it was an extremely tough matchup, and he was mostly up to the task.
Kumar Rocker – Will be called up to face the M’s on Thursday. After Kumar stops by White Castle. Okay, if you’re a Mets fan, move onto the next blurb, you don’t want to read the following. In Triple-A this year, he had a 16.2 K/9 and 0.9 BB/9. I am howling. Okay, it was in 10 IP, but it’s indicative of his numbers at every stop this year. Just flat-out filth. I like him more than Jack Leiter (for now, at least). Dominguez and Kumar will be get rookie outlook posts by me this offseason, because I think both could be worth rostering in all leagues next year, even the shallowest. For this year, Rocker’s a streamer. A fun one! Absolutely! But everyone’s kind of a streamer at this point.
Charlie Morton – 6 2/3 IP, 1 ER, 8 baserunners, 7 Ks, ERA at 4.11. Had Morton and his opponent, Nick Martinez, going in more leagues than I care to admit (3), and I’ll be damned it worked out better than I could’ve ever expected. Also, on a side note, the Braves’ hitting looks so weak. Their five through nine hitters are egregious. Bad. Putrid. Their one thru four hitters? Not much better! But, well, continued in the next one:
Nick Martinez – 7 IP, 0 ER, 3 baserunners, 5 Ks, ERA at 3.46. Surprised his ERA is even as high as it is. Maybe it’s because the Braves’ hitting is so bad, but Nick Martinez is a junk merchant. he should be on Storage Wars. Just unpacking beautiful filth. He’s the exact type of starter you want right now — 7-whatever K/9, and no walks, and can throw 100 pitches without breaking a sweat. Streamonator doesn’t love his next one this week, but I’m in already in weekly leagues.
Cristopher Sanchez – 6 IP, 0 ER, 5 baserunners, 4 Ks, ERA at 3.33. Will end the season with an ERA ~3.50, and will be basically free in drafts next year. I don’t know about you, but ~3.50 is near the top of the league in ERA in all my leagues. I know ERA is hard to count on. I’m not dumb, but is it or is it not a category in your league?
Kyle Schwarber – 1-for-4 and his 34th homer, hitting .250. Every fourth time up he gets a hit and he has 34 homers, so he has 136 at-bats. How’s my math? Oh, he has hits that aren’t homers? How convenient.
Tylor Megill – 6 IP, 0 ER, 1 hit, 2 walks 9 Ks, ERA at 44.8. There was zero hitting yesterday in any games, huh? Megill seems to have Heaney-Boyd Fantasy Disease, as in you see them on waivers and start having fantasies of them producing as well as their peripherals say they should. What I like to say to those with He-Bo Fan Disease is: If they’re so good, why aren’t they so good?
Cade Povich – 4 2/3 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 5.91. I don’t know what you are, Cade, but you got Dig’d and Dug’d.
Anthony Santander – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 40th homer. Ah, finally, some hitting. Santander was the 1st Orioles player since Mark Trumbo to hit 40 homers. Ah, a happy Trumboner!
Rob Refsnyder – 4-for-4, 5 RBIs and his 10th and 11th homer. RIP DMX, he would’ve loved how Refsnyder rolls.
Tyler O’Neill – 3-for-5, 3 RBIs and his 28th and 29th homer. If we don’t wake up tomorrow hearing about how Tyler’s strained his oblique when the hotel maid tucked in the sheets too tight, we will truly be blessed.
Bryan Ramos – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 1st homer, as he was called up. If he were on any other team, I’d be saying monocle or intrigued or other semi-interested things, but I am not messing with Shite Sux hitters.
Joey Cantillo – 7 IP, 1 ER, 2 hits, zero walks, 10 Ks, ERA at 5.96. Start everyone vs. the Shite Sux. Including Joey Cantillo who sounds like a DJ at the Dave Party.
Bo Naylor – 2-for-3 and a slam (12) and double legs (5, 6). There should be a rule: If the opposing catcher steals twice off you, you can catch one backhand from your pitcher.
David Festa – 4 IP, 4 ER, ERA at 5.08. Sorry, Dave Party, when you get hit by Angels, you sound like an early 00’s pop song and you gots to get off my team, Train.
Brandon Drury – 1-for-3, 2 RBIs and his 4th homer. That’s why he’s the Angels’ cleanup hitter! Emoji making muscles then getting wedgied.
Niko Kavadas – 2-for-4, 2 RBIs and his 3rd homer, only hitting .137. He has a lot of room to move that average up. To like .140, maybe even .150!
Reid Detmers – 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 baserunners, 8 Ks, ERA at 5.64. There’s some He-Bo Fan Disease side effects with Detmers too, but I was trying to get him on all my teams this week. And, as Streamonator rightfully points out, last night was the hard matchup for the week.
Cody Bellinger – 2-for-4, 2 runs, 3 RBIs and his 16th homer, as he tormented his former club, the Dodgers. Then the Dodgers saw what a mediocre year he was having and felt better. A feel good story!
Michael Busch – 4-for-5, 3 runs, 3 RBIs and his 17th homer, hitting .252. Busch has gone dormant of late. With Busch, maybe that’s laying in wait? Either way, a four-hit night could be the beginning of a schmotato run.
Walker Buehler – 5 IP, 5 ER, ERA at 5.95. Watching that Chimp Crazy show on Max, and it’s so screwed up that I can’t recommend it highly enough! People step in to try to save chimps, but let me ask you this: Who’s going to step in and try to save Dodgers’ starters? They are ruining them all! Buehler, Bobby Miller, Dustin May, Tony Gonsolin? And that’s just in the last year.
Mookie Betts – 2-for-4, 3 RBIs and his 17th homer, hitting .307. Mookie Best!
Valente Bellozo – 5 1/3 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 2 Ks, ERA at 3.57. How batshizz crazy am I for two-start pitchers at this point in the season? Excellent question, studio audience! I grabbed El Bozo in a 12-team league. Who’s the clown now?
Paul Skenes – 6 IP, 1 ER, 7 baserunners, 9 Ks, ERA at 2.10. His ERA is 2.10! I’m sorry, how do I put more stank on that. His ERA? It’s. Two. Dot. One. Zero! He threw 100 MPH on his 96th pitch of the game for his final strikeout. 100 MPH! He now holds the Pirates’ all-time rookie record for strikeouts, 151. Speaking of which, you’re drinking 151 if you think you’re gonna be able to draft Skenes next year.
Oneil Cruz – 1-for-4 and his 19th homer, hitting .269. Going 20/25/.270 this year, after missing all of last year — Granted, it was not Elly-type value. — but Cruz is returning fantasy value.
Carlos Correa – No real update, but Twins’ beat writer said, Correa was in good spirits and has “good body language.” Great, his torso is half-filled.
5×5 head to head category playoffs, who would you go with to close things out: PCA, Dominguez, Langford?
Picked up The Martian – LFG!
Is it a wise thing to do in the middle of an H2H semi? LFO! (Let’s Find Out!)
LFO!
Probably should have picked up Mullins instead. Would have made starting Kutter a bit easier to take.
I hear that
Dont worry, should be pinch hit next AB. Slater gotta eat!
You cant let Mullins be hogging AB when he has been doing this
Kutter has a bit of a smugshot, which doesn’t help.
Well, credit where it’s due. He hung in for the QS.
He’s still out there! This can’t end well.
Alexis Diaz the Todd Jones of this era? Meh teams with meh stats with guys who get the job done while making you say meh?
Both have siblings that overshadow them, Edwin Diaz and John Paul Jones.
2 start Bido down the tubes and Francis I swear was starting today and got bumped to tomorrow.
Got Suarez from Os on ww, fire him up vs Red Sox? I have 1 IP so far this week and he has 17. Obviously behind in Ks but he has meh ratios, 3.87/1.31
Haha, good call…Todd Jones, lives on…some have him above John Paul
You have to start Suarez
Afternoon & happy Swap Ideas Day!
feels like the wheels are coming off with all the injuries (just added Ben Joyce to the IL list).
Looking for your take on the below Starters. SON seems to like them, but I’m less bullish. What say you?
Also, you holding Mullins or would you cut him for a Catcher while Realmuto is shelved? Catcher options:
Thanks as always!
let’s swap ’em! I’m starting Bassitt, heaven help me…i don’t trust Yu
Wong
Thank you sir!
And if you have a question, I’m happy to share/swap my idea… so you can do the exact opposite as that seems to be the trend lately.
thanks again!
Who are we liking in the Angels’ pen for saves?
My initial thought was Strickland… which means it’ll probably be Roasny for saves, Strickland to setup, and Suarez for the long-relief/ HLR
Sounds terrible, no thanks
I mean, it’s also the Angels pen… so there’s what, 1-2 saves left on the season…maybe? haha
Haha, yeah, not worth it!
So would you use tatis or tucker today or stick with guys who have been playing like Suzuki and Joc P? Obp format. I know what hittertron says. Tucker and Tatis didn’t go on a rehab assignment so it is hard for me to trot them out there. I will complain if I leave a good game on my bench though. Thanks
I wouldn’t bench Seiya rn
And are you using Yamamoto in a h2h playoff today or sitting this one out? 14 team league
I am not starting him today
No moves left in playoff matchup. Would your drop Mitch Spence (@HOU Wed, @ CHC, vs TEX) to activate Darvish (@SEA, vs HOU, vs CHW) H2H, K/9, QS league.
Would yo rather start Spence or Darvish this week?
Darvish if it’s about next few weeks
Sure
Ok to start Lugo@NYY today?
Sure

Thanks!
Which RP do you like ROS in a SVHLD league?
Justin Martinez
Joe Jimenez
Matt Strahm
Justin
Hey Grey,
A. 12 team pts league Would you take Goldy or Toglia over Burger? Hittertron has Burger around #40, while Goldy and Toglia are around #80 and #100 for this week, Burger’s been slowing down lately though.
B. Would you take Jasson over Pena, O. Cruz, Ward? Pena and Cruz are in top 50 hittertron while Ward is back in the 90s, but Ward has been hot lately.
C. Could you rank these starts, the top 4? Apologies for asking over and over about these starts. I’m still perplexed why SON has Bido so low against the White Sox.
Gore vs ATL ($19.6)
Wacha @PIT ($13.3)
Bowden vs NYM ($16.9)
Schwelly vs LAD ($16.6)
Woo vs SD ($13.8)
Bido @CHW ($0.9)
A. Toglia B. Over Pena C. Woo, Wacha, Bido, Gore
Thanks! Could you share how you make sense of SON’s predictions, e.g. what other factors are you considering when you decide to believe or ignore it?
Well Bido is being placed on the IL now so that makes the decision a bit easier
Wow, yes, definitely easier to figure that out!
Oh man
I’m just going off gut, SON is math
Since Bido is going down, who would be next up? Schwelly vs LAD, Bowden vs NYM – also could get Pfaadt vs MIL, Zebby vs LAA, Mize vs COL
Bowden
Pivetta home against Baltimore or Mize home against Rockies THANKS!!
Neither? Mize
Who do you like best for saves over the next two weeks (K/9) league:
P. Hodges
A. Munoz
Ecerg
Chapman
S. Dominguez
Munoz
how we feeling about oller @ pitt and wsh this week?
Sounds ollful
*Awful
I was wondering what you could possibly mean.
Haha, was looking at his name and left it bc I’m dumb
you starting Yamamoto today vs CHC?
I am not
Dominguez over Cowser?
Works for me
Love the headline today.
H2H playoffs, deep 16 team, dropped B Lowe yesterday for some waiver wire fodder (Triolo) as I had to get a body in there and Lowe had sat the last 3-4 games. Of course, Lowe – pinch hit home run. Out of moves for the week now. Nailed it!
No question. Just had to get it out there in the world. Thanks Grey!
Ha, nice! No problem! Title is all Rudy
Yoo grey are we starting suarez at home vs tampa
Yes
Detmers home vs White Sox
Severino at Philly
Corbin home vs Miami
rank please
Detmers, no more, blech, Corbin
Thanks for blech confirmation
Ha, yup
Hey there Grey, final push to the end here! Thanks for all your help this year. Could you please pick the best choice from each of these groups. Ratios first but also looking for QS, though those usually go hand in hand
1
DJ Herz vs. MIA
G. Williams vs. TB
Pepiot @CLE
2
Spence @CHW
Luis Ortiz vs. KC
3
N. Martinez @MIN
Heaney @SEA
4
Ryne Nelson vs.MIL
Jared Jones vs. KC
Herz
Spence
Martinez
Jones
Who would you rather have for playoffs-Edman or Robles?
Thanks
12 h2h Cat.
Robles
1. I’m 1st place in Roto, but could improve on ERA/WHIP. Would you start Eovaldi @ ARI and/or Peterson @ TOR? SON isn’t a huge fan of either, but both SPs have been doing well. Obv. Arizona is a more imposing challenge than the Blue Jays.
2. Which 3 do you like most for *next* week from among: Deluca, Edman, France, Horwitz, Jasson, J.Sanchez, Langford, and L.Thomas?
1. I would not 2. Jasson, Wyatt, Thomas
Starting Shota at the Dodgers, Lugo at the Yankees, or Arrighetti v. Oakland tonight?
10 team roto, daily lineup, currently just under my projected limit for innings.
Start all and pray
I feel a day comin’ where I’m going to waffle on having Lugo active.
Haha, I can understand that feeling
Happy to report I stuck with Lugo. Alas, tonight seems to be the night that Uceta gets touched-up.
My hitters took the weekend off and now I’m out of the fantasy playoffs. Time to look at my keepers for next year.
Infield is set, so mainly pitchers and outfielders in the remaining 12 slots:
Brian Reynolds
Colton Cowser
Matt Wallner
Seiya Suzuki
Pablo Lopez
Yoshinobu
MacKenzie Gore
Shane Baz
Garrett Crochet
Ryan Pepiot
Freddy Peralta
Max Fried
Spencer Schwellenbach
Zebby Matthews
Who do you like?
so which two aren’t good? Zebby, Wallner
what a road back for Rocker – looks like the Mets gave up on him a bit too early
yeah, maybe
How crazy is it that I’m considering dropping Royce Lewis? I have Vientos, Jazz, Vlad, Steer, Elly all qualifying at 3B. It’s not like I like him worse than my other bench guys Tovar (SS), LGarcia (2B), Cowser (LF/CF/RF) but he seems positionally redundant and awful the last month. One of ’em is going to get dropped for deGrom hopefully this week.
Drop Lewis
Which is the best for AVG R HR RBI? Chapman France SBrown Horwitz Chaparro
thank you!
Chapman
To David Peterson (at TOR), or not to David Peterson (at TOR)? That is the question. Has pitched well, but his peripherals doth make me vomit. Alas, the robot loves him not.
I am not
Thou art a mensch. Many thanks
Ha, No problem
Prefer Mize versus Col over Zebby versus LAA tomorrow? Pts
Nope
Thanks!
No problem
El Bozo blurb made me lol
Missed the playoffs for the first time in maybe ever this year. Tucker, Walker, Green and Green really killed me and I finished 1-5 in the final six weeks to miss the final spot by .5 games.
I’m gonna go take a bath with my toaster now.
El Bozo! Sorry, that sucks…But think how clean you’ll be
Are we loving Clark Schmitt or Rocker more?
Kinda excited for Rocker, but Schmidt prolly safer
Lothario were still in it. Are you starting imanaga at dodgers tonight?
Think ya gotta
Do or die day by day for me. Do I run out Riley green versus some Colorado pitcher at home (Blalock)
Mullins at Boston versus Kutter
Or go wild card and start Jasson at home versus Lugo
Jasson
Starting Darvish today @ SEA?
Sure, but might go under 4 IP
Excellent work Grey!
Justin Martinez or Kopech?
Thanks
Thanks! Martinez
can you rank these streamers mostly for this week but with an eye to next as a tie-breaker?
9/10 + 9/15 – Crawford (vs BAL + @NYY; vs MIN)
9/11 – Z Matthews (vs LAA; @CLE)
9/12 – G Williams (vs TB; vs MIN)
9/13 – M Parker (vs MIA; @ NYM)
9/14 – N Martinez (@ MIN; vs PIT)
9/14 – Ginn (@CWS; vs NYY)
9/15 – Nelson vs. MIL (@ MIL)
thanks Grey!
N. Martinez…….Kutter, Zebby, Nelson, Parker
Hey Grey! I’m looking to make some adds for the short schedule on Thursday. How would you rank the following in an OPS league?
Ty France (@ STL / Sonny Gray)
Andres Chaparro (vs MIA / D. McCaughan)
Alec Burleson (vs CIN / J. Junis)
Chapparro, France
Hey to the Hey Hey Hey!!!
I am getting KILLED lately with streamers taking losses.
What do you think about the bot’s take on Montero v COL (28.9) or Civale @SF (15.7). I can do one over the other or both.
Tomorrow I’m thinking Zebby v LAA (19.2). Yeah? That one seems good to me.
Lurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrvoli!
Oh no, lurves — I am starting Montero, Civale and Zebby in different leagues…I think they’re all dangerous, I’d rank them Civale, Zebby, Montero
Ahh, this warm over-the-internet cuddle was just what I needed today. THANK YOU!!!!
Haha, No problem
Need to stream a bit to compete – opponent has a big SP volume edge – who’s your top 4 from these:
Kutter – vs Bal, @ NYY
Kremer – @ Bos
Sears – @ Hou
Montas – @ SF
Gavin Williams – vs TB
Littell – @ Cle
Quintana – @ Phi
Megill – @ Phi
Luis Ortiz – vs KC
Spence – @ CHW
Ginn – @ CHW
Gibson – @ Tor
Povich – @ Det
Also, if you had to drop one of these RP (I currently have 6), who would it be? Erceg, Chapman, Uceta
Thank you!!
Kutter, Spence, Gavin, Ortiz
Uceta
Grabbed Kutter, then scooping Spence once Arrighetti goes tonight. thanks!
No problem
Castellanos or Jasson Dominguez for last few weeks?
Jasson
Logan O’hoppe has also been p-o-o-r for most of the 2nd half. Would you drop him for Wells or is it pretty much a push between the two?
It’s a push…Sure, try it
Thank you for the consistent observations, valuable insights, and solid morning chuckles, sir!
Quick question: what’s your gut feeling on Dane Dunning’s future? If you had to guess, is he coming back as a starter or was 2023 “that one year” that so many pitchers get before disappearing?
No problem! Think dane dunning was a bit unlucky this year, but he also gets hit very hard, so he needs to make adjustments, or be more fine on the black…I’d guess he’s a last round flyer for deep leagues next year
Closer question – Can you rank the following guys (5×5 league)
Kinley, Chapman, Green, Weaver
thank you.
Chapman, Weaver, Green
Please rank for this week:
2-start Lively @WSOX and vTB (great starts, but he has not been good lately)
Gil vKC
Detmers vWSOX
Freddy @ARI
Spence @WSOX
You did if flip last two
Thanks – I see Zebby (vLAA) and Montero (2-starts vCOL and vBAL) mentioned in another question. Where to they fit amongst the other guys I asked about?
They’re riskier
How do you feel about Yamamoto tonight against the Cubs? Efficiency matters and HR allowed really hurt in this league. I’m down to 164 innings on the year, and my guess is he won’t go more than 4 innings. Start or sit?
Already picked up Boyd for tomorrow to alongside King. Play it safe and bench?
He’s staying in my IL, maybe 3+ IP
I mostly need help with average but wouldn’t say no to more homers and steals in 10 team standard roto. Which two bats do you like the best?
Dominguez, O’Neil, Horwitz, Ward, Stott, Caminero, j Wood, Fitzgerald, McCarthy, burger
Thanks!
Wood, Jasson
Need to stream pitching to stay competitive this week – opponent has a bunch more – how would you rank these? Need top 4
Kutter – vs Bal, @ NYY
Kremer – @ Bos
Gavin Williams – vs TB
Frankie Montas – @ SF
Luis Ortiz – vs KC
Spence – @ CHW
Ginn – @ CHW
Gibson – @ Tor
Littell – @ CLE
Quintana – @ PHI
Perez – @ SF
Povich – @ DET
Also who would you drop of these RP if one has to go…
Chapman, Erceg, or Uceta
Thank you!!
Or Megill @ Phi
answered above
Grey!!!
Awesome!
a. Going all in for streamers, I have 91 moves left. Hitting is 1st in my league, pitching last. Gotta bust-a move now.
b. Special Norm MacDonald (RIP) quote of the day for September 10, 2024
Dismissed Simpson juror Jeanette Harris revealed in interviews this week that the jury is torn with dissent and has already divided into two camps – those who think he’s guilty and those who are really, really stupid.
c. Chris Rock quote of the day for September 10, 2024
See, even if you get shot by a stray bullet, you won’t have to go to no doctor to get it out, whoever shot you will take that bullet back! “I believe you got my property!”
Cheers,
Ante
A. Nice!
Cantillo earned the third Top 100 Fantasy Start of September, which was surprisingly only Cleveland’s 2nd entry of the year:
46 Joey Cantillo Sep 9 @CHW
85 Tanner Bibee Jun 19 vs SEA
It is the 11th time the White Sox appear as the opponent on the list.
Hahaha, ridiculous
Austin Wells has had a terrible start to September, but on the Player Rater he is the 8th best catcher for the last 30 days, thanks in large part to 20 RBI.
Oneil Cruz went earlier in most RCL drafts (45 ADP overall/40 ADP March 17-27), but I got him once at pick 61, and he is currently 61 on the Player Rater.
Yeah, makes sense on Wells…I’d take a return on top 100 value from everyone
Well, you’re too easy.
Haha
