Max Meyer is being called up. *does a highly-choreographed handshake with self that ends with me miming putting food in my mouth* We eating tonight! Three of the last four on Itch’s prospect stash list was Esteury Ruiz, Vinnie Pasquantino and Max Meyer. With Meyer’s promotion, they’ll all be up. Where you at, Miguel Vargas?! I already gave you a Max Meyer fantasy when it appeared like he’d be called up in May. Then he was sidetracked with an injury, but he’s healthy now and, like I said, we’re eating! Will he stay up if Edward Cabrera or Luzardo get healthy? If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we’d be diabetic squirrels. Meyer might be good for another 50-60 IP, which is nearly a full 2nd half, I grabbed him in my 15-team mixed league immediately, then hemmed-and-hawed for fifteen minutes, and finally grabbed him in my 12-team mixed RCL, too, but we’ll see if I hold him there. Pitchers are pretty plentiful to be holding a possible roofie. He could be the best starter call-up we see this year. *mimes filling a dog bowl, puts it by feet, gets on knees and sticks face in bowl* We eating! Anyway, here’s what else I saw yesterday in fantasy baseball:

One Man’s Trash: No Mas Or Press The Nos For Josh Rojas?

I used to live my life a quarter mile at a time, pressing the Nos button whenever I could. It was a glorious time but filled with many aches and pains. Lots of ideas bursting into flames. So much shame with no one to blame but my stupid brain. That said, without pushing the envelope from time to time, I would’ve never elevated from the plains and experienced what lies above the clouds that make it rain. Josh Rojas of the Arizona Diamondbacks has skyrocketed into space over the past few weeks with his play. That’s not just Nos. NASAos perhaps? Since July 1, the slash has been .415/.478/.659 with a .244 ISO. Daayamm. He’s been the number eight player on the Razzball Player Rater and was the most added player in ESPN leagues with a 21.2% increase. Does this Rojas ship have enough fuel to continue it’s journey or will there be a Roberto Duran-esque “No Mas, No Mas” decline in the immediate future?

This is going to be less on the flowery introduction, and more on the blurbs. This will be a mega blurbstomp, and I hoped you packed a big lunch, and something to drink, maybe a kettle and a convection oven, some cast iron skillets, a gas range, a refrigerator, a sink and garbage disposal, custom Ikea cabinets with a marble countertop, maybe an island unless it’s going to be a small space, a herringbone backsplash, sealed linoleum floors, fan for the range, a Danish Modern dining room table with 4-6 chairs, candles for mood, flower petals, a heart-shaped hot tub, and finally, a roll of quarters for the vibrating bed.

Points Leagues: Hitting the Heat

Can you believe it’s almost the All Star Break? Seems like just yesterday we were drafting teams and gearing up for the season. Hopefully you managed to grab a few of the Fantasy All Stars in your drafts or made some hot wavier adds. Fear not for there are always more spicy names to grab that provide just the boost your squad is missing. So lets punch this Popsicle and see who’s riding a hot streak. It’s always a smart decision to check for guys such as Michael Harris II – Most likely rostered, hopefully by you, but according to ESPN he’s still available in about 40% of leagues. That’s way too many but it probably means that those leagues have given up on the season. Either way, if he’s out there, grab him now.

Did Jesse Juan I See? Doubleheader Home Run Spree

Two homers apiece for Jesse Winker (2-for-8, hitting .226) and Juan Soto (2-for-6, 4 RBIs, hitting .245). 7th and 8th homer for Jesse Winker; 18th and 19th homer for Juan Soto. Both guys, dreadfully disappointing 1st half. For Winker, it’s kinda wild how a trade to a giant-dumptruck-on-the-ass-crack-of-bad-stadiums-for-hitters can completely derail a career. Now I know why he’s named Winker, he hoodwinked us into thinking he was a .280+ hitter. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, kazoo, Winker sucks! Neutral luck, Winker might not hit .245. Speaking of .245 said Captain Segue, Sexy Dr. Pepper is in a better place today than he was last year at this time. I’m also sick of him being in a 1st half slump every year. Is The Pepper Man disinterested? Can they trade him anywhere? Well, except to Seattle. Is he always going to be a 2nd half guy, because, while I like how he turns the Home Run Derby into a three-month thingamaderby, I wouldn’t mind if he did that for six months vs. three? How about before each game he has a coach toss him some lobs and smacks them into the upper deck? Can I be the only one ever to think of this? Why is this not going on if he keeps “needing” the “derby” to get “fixed?” I got questions, y’all! Toss Soto some 60 MPH fastballs pre-game and let’s go! Prospect News: Futures Game Primer: Young Stars Align in Hollywood

Rangers RHP Jack Leiter is a good place to start because he exemplifies what’s  weird about the Futures Game. Leiter hasn’t earned his spot on the field (6.30 ERA), but that’s not uncommon to this game, which different organizations use for different reasons on a player-by-player basis. It’s not an All-Star game, in other words. It’s not even an all-famous game, although that’s what gets Leiter on the roster. It’s not even really a combination of the two. Some organizations might send a middle reliever, like Baltimore did with Marcos Diplan in 2021, who the team DFA’d the other day, almost exactly a year after Diplan gave up home runs to Brennan Davis and Francisco Alvarez in Coors Field during the sixth inning of last year’s Futures Game.

There’s A Good Chapman

British phrases and baseball content, name a more iconic duo. There’s actually a lot of better duo’s out there, but you work with what you got, and what I got is a player with a last name that can be turned into a jolly good title (so good we did it twice!), id’na that right gov’ner? But that’s where the accuracy ends, because can you really call Matt Chapman good? We tried a few months ago, and the basic TL;DR was: “He might, and we’ll see!” And of course, he might be a good person, but we’d probably want him to be a good baseball player first. Selfish! I know. And lucky for us and baseball, that definition is a bit fungible in that what he did last season was, you know, aiight. Two “i’s” for that extra vocal confirmation. I mean, the .210 batting average and .314 OBP wasn’t good, but the counting stats? Pretty good, to the tune of 27/75/72. So while we ponder the idea that maybe Chap is just neutral, we can also accept that we are stuck asking if he’s good because of a mediocre title that I locked us into. Don’t forget folks, I was born into mediocrity, molded by it, and we still have the rest of the post to go. That’s not just good, that’s great?
